LD39 — Running out of Power

INVISIBRO by FisherGoodwin 2017-08-02T07:58:42Z

I really really liked this concept. The going invisible pretty quickly fits the fast paced gameplay very well and I had quite a bit of fun. The controls are super responsive. I would almost say, too responsive, in a way. It takes some getting used to (which is not necessarily a bad thing), but makes the 'jump up and move to another platform' motion a bit harder, since you'll be doing lots of 'I moved too much to the side and now bumbed my head against a platform'. This might just be me though ;) One more serious critique that made the game borderline-unbeatable for me: the reset button is 'R', which is a bit inconvenient in the first place, as you have to move your hand to reach it every time you die, but also 'T' is the button that resets the ENTIRE GAME! Everything I've gotten far into the first level I would die a lot and blindly hitting T would stop everything, sadly :( So some (possibly subjective) advice: Make spacebar the 'last checkpoint' reset button and maybe move the 'main menu'reset button to a button in the escape menu.

Anyway, I really didn't mean to ramble for that long, because I actually really love this game! Good job on creating it, I would love to play some more if you continue development.

Who Wants to be Alive? by ysty 2017-07-31T11:05:21Z

I really liked the fast past question-answer style gameplay, didn't manage to get too far, but it was tense! Only problem I had is that WASD didn't work, so I could only move with the arrow keys, which slowed me down a bit. Good job on finishing this.

Programmer Energy by sn0uk 2017-07-31T16:21:44Z

I'll start by saying: that ragequit animation is amazing haha! I like this game, I really do. Whether it's because of it's cute artstyle, the fast typing action or the sheer panic I experience when I need to press two buttons at the same time. Only critique I would have is that sometimes it prompts you to press two keys at the same time, that you would type with the same hand. I'm not sure about you, but I don't practice yoga on my hands, so this is where I usually come to my inevitable doom ;) Anyway, good job on finishing this! You put a lot of work into this, and it shows. Best of luck.

LD39 - Runner Clone by LogFlames 2017-07-31T15:47:15Z

Avast thinks this is a virus and I since you can't ignore the warnings, the .exe file gets deleted. Dangit :/

Electric Neon by kamikaziuk 2017-07-31T15:40:27Z

This is honestly the most addictive game I've played this whole jam. I TOTALLY DIG the artstyle and music. Controls take some getting used to but are intuitive after that. The only thing that could make this game better would be drifting for those sharp corners <3. But great job man, this should be rated way higher than it is!

Zombies and RVs by pixelgriffin 2017-08-02T08:24:29Z

Super glad you made this game! it's fast paced, fun and the graphics look super duper nice. The idea reminds me somewhat of a clustertruck vs L4D kinda deal, which is a compliment. Some possible tips for future development: I would make the levels a bit longer, it does feel like you fade to black rather quickly. Also, just an idea, but maybe make it so the stream of RV's is a loooot longer, the level is a bit rougher (more hills, gaps, bumbs that force you to stay moving), remove the front rv bonus and add an 'on the move' bonus. This would maybe activate people to jump more, because you never know which rv's are gonna crash/ explode.

But overal, very fun and nice game. Good job on making it!

Jeff Long Run by Matoux42 2017-07-31T14:58:31Z

Dangit, can't play this one because avast thinks it's a virus. For some reason it won't let me ignore the warnings :/

Escape from P.O.W.E.R. by Asado999 2017-07-31T10:42:18Z

Really like your interpretation of the theme! Bit intense for me though, might want to put up a epilepsy warning ;) Animations look good too. PS. it's really god damn hard... Can't get past the first level to be honest :^)

Stoked by pitpony 2017-07-31T15:09:40Z

This is a lovely game. The aesthetics really pulled me in and made me try it. It's cute and works great. The only critique I would have is that there isn't much of a challenge right now, because it's really easy to keep the fire going. I like the addition of the slimes, and you having to respond quickly, maybe they could climb up to the mineshaft too? Anyway, good job.

Encounters by Valphera 2017-07-31T10:58:29Z

I really liked the game. Though it doesn't have much (challenging) gameplay, it was still very enjoyable. The enviroment is nice and graphics are more than I would have expected from a jam game. Had a few laughs too. Well done!

Ps. I cracked up big time at selling kids for alcohol and credits! :^)

Smash ball by Sivael 2017-07-31T11:12:43Z

I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKING BALL!!

Seriously though, smashing through cubes like crazy is really fun! I think there is some good potential for a game here. For now (I think because of time restraints) there is an end-goal missing, but I like the mechanics.

Deep Space Nine Volts by Boxfort 2017-08-01T21:00:50Z

It's really quite challenging, but a really great idea and use of the theme! It's such a simple concept on the surface but works super well. Good job!

Alone in the night by Rakowu 2017-07-31T16:06:59Z

I really liked the look and feel of this game, although it's still pretty empty (which I totally understand because it was made for this jam). The drawings (I assume they're drawings) are really great. I would love to see more of this style throughout the game's environment. As some others already pointed out, the 'hold w to walk towards the mousepointer' controls can be a bit weird to get used to, but isn't too big of a deal. One more thing: is it just me or are hamsters really rare? I was sometimes walking around for a few minutes without finding any. They would also escape super easily and be gone forever, leaving me with no way to defend myself. Anyway, nice job! Good luck and have fun working on this in the future :)

Electric lovers by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-07-31T18:20:06Z

@gmfk07 Thanks! Yeah, you're totally right. Total oversight on my end. Spend so much time writing the mechanics that I forgot to do basic restrictions until it was too late. It's my first ever game jam though, so I definitely need to learn to plan better haha.

@WillData , Thank you for the feedback, it's highly appreciated!

@WhatFruit , Thanks a lot for your opinion man! Haha yeah, you totally read my mind. I'm not a level designer though, but will definitely be investing more time into that because now I know how important it is! It's little things like these that we learn doing jams!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Synapse by Geckoo1337 2017-12-04T20:24:16Z

Now, this is a fantastic little game! The puzzles really aren't too hard, but that actually makes it quite a relaxing game. You did a great job on the puzzle creation part, they feel really thought out, but also easy enough to understand and finish. The only critique I would have is the input. It's definitely not bad, but I think it would benefit from being able to also use the mouse to drag the balls up or sideways, because the arrowkeys feel like they have to be timed very well sometimes. Good job on this entry!

btw, my score was 70

Don't Rock the Boat! by Keke 2017-12-04T10:16:24Z

Looks really good! I'll have a go at playing it when I get back from college!

Make Ludum Dare Great Again by ultimategrinder 2017-12-04T21:39:43Z

I really like the idea! Good job guys. Just seeing their little faces get stained by all the coffee made me crack up

Be Yourself by Noa Calice 2017-12-04T21:28:57Z

This game is really damn addictive! It's fast paced and I love it. The character customization, as weird as it sounds, extended the playtime for me, because I wanted to see all characters ^^. And man... does this game escalate fast. You can usually pinpoint the EXACT moment of fuck-up at which everything starts going south. It's quite a challenge and feels really good if you manage to get a huge streak of blob-blowups. One critique: the blobs coming from the side travel further than the blobs from the top and the bottom. This makes it so you have less time to react to those. I think a squared playing field might make more sense for this kind of game. Amazing job nonetheless, did I also mention that I really enjoy the graphics? Well, I do!

Petrucio, the gem stealer by Thiago Ferraro 2017-12-04T21:17:21Z

I really like the main mechanic of this game! It's pretty tense to try and catch and the pickaxe and the gems. Some critique: I think either the movementspeed of the character is too high, or the basket he's holding is too small, because it's REALLY hard to accurately catch these tiny objects, and I overshot quite a few times. I also didn't really see the rocks you're suppose to avoid, because they all bunched up with the gems. This could easily be resolved with some tweaking though. I think this has potential for what it's trying to be! Very lovely graphics and crisp sounds. The throwing physics feel really good too. Good job guys!

Mistral - Wave-based Survival Retro Game by Syndelis 2017-12-05T08:08:41Z

Very nice game! I had a blast playing it, but there were some things that made this game very hard right from beginning. So the first thing is: the bats move super fast and are tiny, which makes it really hard to hit them, resulting in them hitting you straight out of the map. That's actually the second thing: maybe tone down the knockback a bit for the first few levels, because it's supersmash on 300% right now ^^. I think when these things are adjust a bit it would feel very very good. The arrows feel awesome and the screenshake is really nice and crisp. Good job!

Rocket Jump by RahmKota3 2017-12-04T21:07:49Z

It's an interesting game. I've always been someone who loves rocket jumping in games, and that's why I like this game too. The mechanics are a tiny bit clunky at times, but the feeling is there. My only problem was estimating how much the extra rockets would slow me down. It's an interesting choice you give to the player, because there is usually only one right amount of rockets that you can take. I didn't manage to finish the game, because I got stuck on the first moving red bar, but I can see the potential here. Good job on the entry! btw, programmer art is encouraged here ;)

Rocket Jump by RahmKota3 2017-12-04T21:40:46Z

@rahmkota3 Oh right, I totally forgot you could wall-rocket-jump! Thanks

@handle Thank you for playing! It's really good to hear it runs well, not just on my own system ;)You're definitely right. I will be working on adding goals/ more gameplay elements to this after this jam, because I feel there is some potential there. Any suggestions maybe?

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T06:51:46Z

@elfippo Thanks for playing! Yes, you're right, I really wanted to create a good atmosphere and forgot a main goal  Glad to hear you enjoyed the views though!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T06:54:18Z

@wevel Thanks for the feedback and for playing! I actually used the WASD controls before but they seemed a bit sloppy. I definitely noted it down though, maybe I could just let the player choose between both. And yeah, there is a click limit, where from a certain distance you can't break buildings (but I didn't explaint that anywhere!). This was because I wanted people to navigate the island instead of staying somewhere up high. Thanks again.

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T06:57:37Z

@colossal-gnome Ah yeah, it's good to hear that it's somewhat optimized and that you enjoyed just planting flora and fauna! I really want it to have some sort of endgoal indeed  Hehe, yeah, I know that seems like a bug, but that's the way my stupid makeshift system works: trees shouldn't spawn on buildings, but the building colliders always stay in place (because the building positions aren't random) and so even when the building is gone no trees can be placed. Thanks again!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T06:58:51Z

@foolmoron Thank you for the feedback, I'll be working on the controls and a goal in the next couple of weeks. Glad you liked the graphics ^^

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T06:59:51Z

@ultimategrinder Awesome to hear man. There definitely seem to be divided opnions about the controls system. I think I might re-imagine a big part of them. We'll see what comes out!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T07:02:38Z

@be3n2 Good to hear! I'm getting mixed signals about the controls, but I think I can keep these in as 'classic' and also give the player the choice of changing them to something different. And yeah, the left click thing is stupid, but a keyboard button felt weird too. I think I might make a system where you have to charge up to destroy or place something, so that it doesn't instantly happen or something. Thanks for the feedback!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T07:04:02Z

@gus-the-shark Awesome! That's exactly the vibe I was going for, but I think you're totally right about the mouse button-action: it's weird right now. I'll figure that out in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T08:44:56Z

@monika Thanks a lot for playing and for giving feedback! I also tried it on my laptop's touchpad and man, is it hard  You're right about the zoom: it has set increments to which it zooms, so it's not a 'percentage' system (which would actually be really cool idea now that I think about it). You're also right about the hitboxes of the buildings: They are currently exactly as big as the buildings, but there is a certain distance from where you can knock them down. I will probably change that and also make the building-hitbox bigger. That is, if I'm going with the building-knock down mechanic at all. I'm currently exploring other things I could do with this island that would be more relaxing. Thank you so much for the feedback once again!

Untouched by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-12-05T11:31:05Z

@scurf Thanks for playing and the feedback! Yeah, I would probably add really calm ambient music because I am looking to build a relaxing game (although I think the current mechanics don't represent that very much yet). I'll keep working on it!

@miaw Thanks for the video and the feedback! I appreciate it very much! That would be a really cool concept, if you'd have to control the weather, or 'play god', so to speak. If you would use a hurricane, you would also hurt the environment, but also destroy buildings, so many you would have to balance that very well. Awesome stuff. Thanks for the suggestions!

@potti You're right! I hope to improve lots on this game in the following weeks ;) WASD movementw as actually implemented before I scrapped it to go with the dragging thing. I had some more comments about the movement system, so I'll take a look. It's easy to implement anyway. Thanks for the feedback and the kind words man!

Snake Force by JeffChen 2017-12-05T08:36:07Z

DAMN. This was one hell of a pleasant surprise! let's start of by saying: everything is SO cute. The models, the animations, everything! I love the graphics, they are simplistic, yet great. You also applied post-processing effects very thoughtfully, which complimented everything nicely. The gameplay was solid, and definitely hard at times: but that's the challenge. You implemented the theme very well and I finally found out the perfect way to kill all enemies without killing my own by strafing linearly to the enemies and shooting at the same time. It's quite refreshing to see a third person shooter where you actually have to watch out for your main characters, instead of only the enemies. The only thing I could say it: keep working on it, make some fancy models for the levels and add music plus sounds. As someone else put it: "I can't believe you did all this in 48 hours!"

Rescue_Mission by Bibilega 2017-12-04T20:07:23Z

Let me start of by saying, it's a captivating game. I started of by thinking 'oh, I got plenty of resources, this is going to take forever to drain.' But then things turned south, very very quickly. More and more passengers boarded my ship and I tried to take care of them but there were too many! Then the tragic day came... 6 people died. I didn't mean for it to happen, really!

I like the simple artstyle you went with here. The UI is polished and looks great for this sort of game. As I said, this game can become a challenge very quickly, which was nice.

Critiques/suggestions: I didn't understand all the attributes that the passengers could have, like what 'room attitude' meant (do they like the green rooms more?). Also, I wasn't sure if things like 'sociopath' etc mattered when placing the characters, but these details cluttered up the screen a bit. I also wasn't really sure as to why you would place people in some of the rooms. Like the engine room, or passage, just give you negative things. I thought there would be limits as to how many people fit into one room, but there weren't (maybe a suggestion for the future?). One last thing which isn't really relevant, but I think I encountered a gamebreaking bug which caused the spaceship to fly of, followed by the game crashing.

I did really enjoy this game! It's good and it has potential. As I said, it might be more of a challenge when there were limits on rooms and such, but you did a very good job overall!

Rescue_Mission by Bibilega 2017-12-05T06:49:13Z

@daria-s Thanks for the response! It all kind of makes sense now, haha. It's a shame for you guys to have to abandon the room limit when it was actually almost in :( but that could always be added later of course. I honestly didn't expect such an elaborate system behind these simple characters, but it's all very logical now that I hear it. And yeah, I was really debating whether '-1 speed' meant one less day or one more day of travel time ^^. I hope more people play this, good luck guys!

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-06T04:47:37Z

I really like the artstyle and game-idea! It reminds me a bit of a non-hostile version of super smash bro's. The goal is the game is to throw food to others and be the one with the least amount of food left in the end of the round. I think this game could actually play pretty well in actual multiplayer, but the AI seems to be going a good job so far! Only game-breaking thing is: you can win very easily by jumping up high and throwing all your food down in the last second before the countdown timer ends. This is kind of a shame. Maybe a random timer that is invisible would be better so player couldn't prepare and thus that tactic would be way harder? Anyway, good job guys!!

Feed Them by Fis 2017-12-06T13:01:10Z

I'd love to try it out after some of the changes you've mentioned!

The Grand Mewdapest Hotel by Druvsaft 2017-12-04T20:46:15Z

Really liked the game! It's a bit easy, if I'm honest, but I must say that cats scratching all around the room did give me stress  It's funny that this is exactly the experience every cat owner has, multiplied times like 15 cats. The mechanics worked well, the graphics looked great and the sound is solid. Also, thank you for being the first christmas themed game I played, it really put me in the mood. One suggestion I might have is to maybe place furniture around the room, or decrease the room size to make it feel less empty. Anyway, good job guys, I enjoyed it!

Also, +10 points for the cat puns in the end ;)

Temple Hunt by Toccs 2017-12-06T04:57:59Z

Hey there, good job on finishing a game! I think the movement mechanics are mosty solid and feel good. The only problem with that is that the character collision is still a bit wonky (did you make use of a capsule collider?), because sometimes you miss a jump but still survive because the character sticks to a wall just above the spikes  I heard you fixed the brightness and it was very nice play now, very difficult too! I think you did a great job on the models and textures and can't wait until you use these assets in a more realistic scene. Good job on making the game!

Caribou Simulator by Gus the Shark 2017-12-04T18:59:59Z

I really liked the game! It's very charming. The music is a really really nice touch and sounds pretty awesome! At first I though I had to flipkick the blue guys, but they turned out to be my buddies (and health). It's actually a pretty challenging game, but I managed to let the caribous out into the wild (aren't they cute?!). The only really challenging part were the trucks, because you have to learn the patterns and there isn't a checkpoint in the middle of the two roads. Good job on this entry!

Defender Against the SuperBosses by Charlez245 2017-12-06T05:18:29Z

Hey there! Congrats on finishing this game man! I liked it because it was so simpel and because it reminded me of a old game I once made! The shooting feels solid, the little dying animations just help to bring the minimalist graphics to life in my opinion. A few suggestions: I think in the beginning (before whole rooms are filled with cubes), the cubes should fire rush enemies more quickly, because the almost-empty rooms are a bit too easy now. I also think you could work a bit more on the navigation and following system, because right now sometimes enemies just lose interest after a few meters, so I could just easily shoot them down. I must say, it was super tense and got really hard in the end, which is a good thing. I didn't defeat the super boss (I don't think ayone's suppose to, seeing as he's one hell of a badass). I really liked the screenshake he created as well. Terrifying. Good job!

Defender Against the SuperBosses by Charlez245 2017-12-09T09:59:33Z

@hugmugi7 Please don't leave comments like these, they don't help anyone. You must realise that we all made a game, and that we all went through the same. Now imagine that you've spent your weekend building a game and someone comes around saying 'its bad lulz', you wouldn't feel good, now would you? Aside from your comment being a bit harsh, there is just no constructive critisism at ALL. What this guy would have loved more is for you to say WHY it feels clunky and unfinished to you. And one last thing: graphics don't matter in Ludum Dare, programmer art is encouraged and it's all about building a cool thing. And this guy did, so you better congratulate him at the very least. /rant out/

LD42 — Running out of space

Get rekt (the game) by dragongino 2018-08-14T14:10:17Z

Nice submission! I liked the gunfeel and chaotic nature of the game. So many zombies, but making them easy to kill also makes you feel very powerful and in control. I also loved that they split to little bits that you can push around! :D Some feedback: there didn't seem to spawn any ammo boxes, so my ammo went down on all weapons and that was it. Only medkits everywhere.. Also, the ammo counter said 8, when I was out of bullets. hmmm Other than that, I liked the game, good job on finishing it! I attached my score below :)Knipsel.JPG

Where Stars Belong by NORRIMO 2018-08-18T13:53:22Z

What an experience! This is exactly something I wouldn't expect from a jam game, but I love it. It's the art of taking something so simplistic and fragile and turning it into a thought-provoking experience. You guys have done really well! I really don't have any feedback, there were some minor visual glitches here and there, but that really doesn't matter in a game like this. I totally relate on the use of the theme, sometimes you do feel like your whole day can be filled with certain thoughts, whether these are good or bad can really change the kind of person you are that day. The visual style is exceptionally pleasant and really compliments the theme choice, also. Keep doing what you guys are doing, congratulations!

Space Escape by Baconinvader 2018-08-18T10:53:15Z

Nice entry! I'm really impressed with the amount of work that you did in 48 hours. Don't let the graphics fool you, this game is actually quite interesting and deep. And therein also lies one of it's weaknesses, because even after I read the tutorial in full, it was still pretty difficult to remember all the little things that you have to do in order to keep your spaceship alive. At times, it can be a bit unintuitive. Especially when you hear a million little warning sounds and you have no clue how to get away from that *damn* astroid coming your way. Of course this can all be learned with a bit of time, but I'm afraid that for a jam game, it's pretty complex (which is a compliment but also a pitfall  )

Asides from the feedback, it's a really nice entry and I enjoyed flicking through all the menus and seeing all the little things I could buy, upgrade, tweek etc. It's all really solid and seems to work well, good job!

Blocks by Anubhav Kashyap 2018-08-19T12:31:52Z

Hey that's pretty good! Nice little concept and execution. If this was made in 5 hours you can be really proud of yourself :) Good job! My feedback would be that the jump seems a bit high, and then suddenly the gravity kicks in when you're at your highest point: that feels a bit unnatural to me. I think it would be more of a challenge to make the jump less high, because you have to worry about not falling in a deep hole too! Anyway, good job!

Void Knight vs PEST by Memel06 2018-08-19T11:22:54Z

Hey good job on finishing a game for this ludum dare! I like this entry, especially the drawn graphic style and the sound effects that match the style. This dark world your game was set in feels very convincing and nice. The gameplay is not too fast paced, but it doesn't have to be because it feels more like a strategic thing: you have to really choose where you place your character so the enemies don't block your way to more bubbles. And that's also one of the weaker points: the enemies seem a bit slow and big, so that they block your way pretty often. In the time it takes for you to kill them, their bubbles usually would have grown to a size that is impossible to destroy, thus creating more bubbles because you're more stuck than before. Maybe it just needs some balancing. Anyway, I destroyed the boss and won the game, it felt pretty good. Good job on this entry! I enjoyed it :)

The Hero's incredible Chronicles by Gaming Night 2018-08-19T11:04:29Z

LOL, I smelled something fishy coming up when you said 'the largest open world', but I wasn't expecting this. The easteregg that happened after 2 minutes of waiting was really nice though

doof by JonahSenzel 2018-08-14T07:35:24Z

Loved the artstyle and especially the music. It was very calm and chill. The puzzle mechanics were a nice touch, although I didn't always seem to know what the exact point of the level was. I unfortunately got stuck on one of the further levels, but that's okay. Also (you probably know this) but the character glitches through walls quite a bit, not really a problem though. Good job on this, and thanks for making a LD game!!

doof by JonahSenzel 2018-08-14T12:05:11Z

@jonahsenzel yeah Unity can be a pain with that :^) uhmmm, it was a level where there were two red pieces with one blue piece in the middle. The left red one held 2 enemies and the right red one held 1. The blue middle one held a few. I couldn't figure out how to kill the most right enemy...

Falling Town by Centauri 2018-08-14T07:52:58Z

19 days... That's how long it took for comets to destroy my little town  I was so proud of that town. People went to school there, had jobs there, they were happy! Only sad thing is that I was saving for that super fancy skyscraper, but the town got destroyed just 1 turn before I had 500$ :(

Anyway, I loved the game. It's pretty cute and makes you really want to build the whole city. Also love the chancegame when the comet comes around. Some feedback: it seems that some of the money values are a bit off, for example when I had 30$ and I bought something that was 30$ I would still be left with 5$ in my pocket. This happened with multiple building types, actually. Furthermore, I would love to have a function to also rotate the view around my city (for inspiration, maybe look at my LD40 game, untouched). But I get it if you don't want to work on this anymore, you did very well and you can be proud!

Good job and thank you for making it :D

Plenty Of Junk by Verbante 2018-08-20T13:30:02Z

Good job on finishing a game for this ludum dare! It's a great concept, with the slick character being able to dive through the tiniest cracks like a cat! That mechanic can feel awesome when you're speeding through the maze of stuff. Unfortunately it can at times also feel extremely unwieldy, sending your character flying miles up, while your hungerbar just keep trickling down and you don't have time to get food. I agree with other people about the readability of the text, maybe make it a bit higher res next time. Overall it's still a pretty interesting (and difficult, dare I say!) entry, so good job on making it :)

Zero G Hero by dave_troyer 2018-08-14T13:56:43Z

First of all, good job on finishing a game for ludum dare, you can be proud. And what a game, it looks and feels very solid and professional. The art is beautiful and all the storytelling makes the whole thing come together. Also it was tough. I almost didn't make it out of frustration, until I finally had a good run! Then again, I'm a platformer noob haha. Some feedback: I would love to be able to aim the gun anywhere with my mouse cursor, instead of just firing backwards and forwards. The way it is it can feel kind of difficult to hit certain enemies. Also, the red enemies can charge at you rather quickly, leaving you being hit even if you continuously fire at them. Further than that, I loved this submission, very well done!

CubiCo by Dominic 2018-08-18T11:13:10Z

Wow I wasn't ready for this submission! I though it was a cute little pixel-art style game but it turned out to be a fully fletched, well thought out puzzler! The puzzles felt satisfying and fair. The graphics and audio are amazing. Everything works really well, I'm also really surprised at the amount of puzzles you guys managed to make in the little time you had! Overall, really solid experience, keep it up guys! The only feedback I could give has to do with player-feedback (ironically): the teleporting when drinking coffee seems a bit out of place with the style of the rest of the game, which is smooth and calm. Maybe give this 'teleport' a new animation: like a *long* jump animation, so you can skip a hole and also make it seem believable. Other than that, the flickering door puzzles seemed a bit abstract to me: I knew how they worked, but at first it didn't immediately make sense to me that I could only walk on gray, stay on white and couldn't pass black: maybe make this 'block' kind of a door that opens and closes or something? Maybe just something that's a bit more intuitive for players.

Anyway, very good job on making this guys, I enjoyed it a lot :D

Escape by Teelin 2018-08-14T08:51:40Z

Hey there, good job on finishing a game for LDJAM, you can be proud! I really liked the aesthetics of it, there were some beautiful models (especially the vault!). That being said I have some feedback: I didn't really know you could drag the camera, it might have been more intuitive to lock the camera to the cursor movement in the first place? The lightswitch was a bit confusing, especially when I turned it off and I couldn't see anything, so I had a really hard time turning the light on again. When there's water the player start to glide around the place, so it's pretty hard to stay locked into a puzzle, and I also don't seem to die before of drowning?

Other than that I think the puzzles were nice and quite a challenge :) I'm usually pretty okay at puzzle games, but this one I couldn't solve (I'd love to know the answers though! haha) Good job!

You Should Be Executed by Haeder2132 2018-08-14T08:33:51Z

I liked the game, however I feel there might be a bug: the bullets are super super slow, so it wasn't really a challenge. I can see this being very hard if the bullets are super fast and if you would add some more dangers, which could be very nice. Also, the tank aims opposite of where my mouse cursor is, which feels a bit weird. Other than that it was quite a nice game, I got a really nice score :) Good job on making it this LDjam!!

WearOut by Abhis1Kadian 2018-08-20T13:42:38Z

I'm writing an review of the post jam version because the original version was bugged to the point of me not being able to even hit enemies (and also the keybinds weren't right). I like the game, the soundeffects make your attacks seem pretty strong and everything seems solid. Only problem being that it doesn't feel like there is a challenge yet: you can win by not looking at the screen and pressing W continuously. I've played up until the score 300 and there doesn't seem to be any difficulty progression yet. I think this is a huge opportunity for this game though, if the enemies get harder, have special abilities and you let the player also jump, perhaps, you can give the experience a bit more complexity. Anyway, good job on finishing this game! Keep working if you like :)

Cheating The System 32 by JennicatTheAnomaly 2018-08-14T14:41:33Z

Lovely submission. Very humorous and Dank, like the kids say these days :^) I hope the final crash was intentional, but I liked that it was open-ended. Good job on making this!

ECO WARRIORS by FreeLivesGames 2018-08-19T10:45:11Z

I absolutely love everything about this game! I genuinely can't believe that you guys made this for a gamejam too, it's so polished.. The gameplay was fun and satisfying, the sound and particle effects were beefy and made everything feel super good and all the UI stuff and screens looked very professional too! The only sad moment I had was when my super awesome quadbike flipped and I couldn't run people over anymore, but I guess I had it coming trying to wheelie over their dead bodies ;) This is one of those entries where I can say: don't change anything, just expand! Very good job everyone, congratulations! I hope you end up winning some categories!

Body Hiding Simulator 1995 by incinious 2018-08-14T14:24:41Z

Love this submission, it's really something else and really creative and crazy at the same time! Although it seemed kind of hard to hide the bodies sometimes.. They are just too large ;P The crazy mechanic is definitely going to pay off in the humor category. As some feedback I would say: maybe make the time between husband visits longer, so you have a bit more time to find the right hiding spot for a body. Good job on making this!

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

Exploding Sport by jk5000 2018-12-05T19:29:12Z

I really like the concept of this game, having some sort of 'airhockey' style gameplay with exploding projectiles really adds another dimension to the genre. I unfortunately had to play alone, but I did get the chance to try the mechanics. I felt that it was pretty hard to accurately aim your canon. More slow movement would have solved this (maybe even fast movement whilst holding shift), and something like an aim-line? I liked the graphics, it looks pretty realistic and nice. One last thing, when you shoot at a distance, bombs tend to skip over the ball, which is pretty annoying, hehe. Maybe make it so they can't make any horizontal movements, or whatever. Anyway, good job on making a game this jam :)

The Saver by dunin 2018-12-03T13:44:49Z

Great game, I really liked the story part about the people being happy underground! The gameplay seems well thought out too, but I feel like there is a certain order in which you have to give stuff out to rescue all people. I couldn't really figure out that order, so I got stuck a lot. Also, walljumping in rapid succession is really difficult! Ps. I would also write down the controls on your page here, so people know what to do, without trying to figure it out :) Other than that, great game! I really liked the art and the sounds, felt really immersive.

Volcano Rush! by jharler 2018-12-05T19:05:00Z

Although the concept of a typical 'run and jump platformer' would seem a bit overdone, you actually gave it a nice twist! Because of the highly unpredictable nature of some of the firerocks, you are guaranteed to sacrifice many lives to get to the top, haha. This also brings me to the next point: it's quite hard to get in a nice flow when all the rocks keep going back and forth. You really have to learn the level, and even then it's quite hard! Good job on making this game. Ps. V.1 worked perfectly for me, no bugs whatsoever!

Price of Power by Hilvon 2018-12-05T19:43:19Z

At first all the explanations and numbers are quite intimidating, but once you get it, it's actually quite a fun and strategic game! I love the way you made the animations do everything, and the way you actually get the tokens to move across the board, that all felt really polished for a gamejam, nice job! I'm not really into boardgames, but reading the comments I can see that you are quite loved by those who do. Nice work!

Save The Ginions by ytaha 2018-12-03T21:07:55Z

Wow, this game has a surprising amount of depth! I really liked it :D It's also really damn tough to beat, haha! Keeping those little fellas warm isn't easy. Some tips: maybe label the machines, so I don't end up throwing a ginion in the lower machine because I think that it will produce a battery ':) Other than that, I ended up getting stuck underneath my own rocketship (but that's just a little bug). Good job on making it, nice work! Ps. your artwork and animations are superb!

Four Deities by Apace 2018-12-03T14:26:57Z

I really liked the concept. Your art is minimalist, but the animations and sounds are on point! I like the complexity of the weather system and day/night cycle too, very nice touches. Having said that I think there are a few things that are holding this game back from being even better: I felt like the gameplay was somewhat slow. At first I thought I had to drag villagers around to make them do things, but apparently everything happens automatically (Maybe that first thing could be a great suggestion?), so there is a lot of downtime. The second thing is that I feel that there is not enough feedback as to what the gods like and don't like. Sometimes something good happens after you've sacrificed something, but mostly nothing occurs. I also think their diets change after a while? At first one of my gods loved trees, and then I gave him some later and he burned down my house (the bastard!). Anyway, overall I really liked the game, and the depth you've put into it. Good job on making it and I hope this feedback was somehow helpful! :D

Four Deities by Apace 2018-12-05T05:14:18Z

@timeshapers Hi, thanks for the feedback! Glad you liked the graphics. I agree about the indicator part. Although they drop on the yellow trampoline every time, I would have liked to add some extra flair or an floating arrow to it. Time constraints.. I feel that the core mechanic would shine a lot more, if there were some more side-mechanics (like button switches that move platforms etc.) Maybe stuff for the future!

Airtime by Virtual Turtle Studio 2018-12-03T13:13:01Z

@dunin Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! I'm so sorry, I would have loved that too ;) However, the levels were the last thing I did, and then it turned out to be 15 minutes for the deadline, so literally no time to add more. My brain was also too exhausted to think up more puzzles! I'd love to expand in the future!

@vatigo Thanks! It's nice to see people appreciating that I make the kind of games that I would love to play too :D I'm sorry about the mac bug: I totally forgot about that, but it has happened before in other projects. I don't have a mac myself so I don't know a workaround. I'm glad the screenshot thing worked though! And yeah, I agree on the perspective part: I had to do camera placement rather quickly but that didn't always turn out amazing. Thanks for playing man!

@norfma Thank you for checking it out! Glad you enjoyed. I agree on both points, although I already implemented your second suggestion in the future build, haha! Thanks for the feedback!

@jk5000 Cheers! I love making levels for it, so I just need to find some time, hehe. Great suggestions!

@hilvon Thanks for playing man :D I get that feedback from everyone, haha. I need to do something about it.. I agree on the theme part. I actually wanted to make a button-mechanic, where you needed to sacrifice multiple wembies in order to get one to the finish, but I ran out of time. Thanks for the feedback!

@ethan-grant Thanks very much for playing! Super glad you enjoyed it. I hadn't thought about your first point like that before, but that's a pretty good workaround for the theme :o Maybe it should have been a random trampo?? Damn, missed opportunity! I'm sorry about the resolution problems, I'm still learning UI scaling! I already implemented your third suggestion in the future build of the game, great feedback! Yeah, right now the rotatable pillars are slightly lighter, but they should have a different symbol or something. Thanks a bunch for playing!

@juan-hust-novella Glad to hear that! I did the sounds in the middle of the night, 30 minutes before the deadline, so I have to agree with you ;-)

Pyme's Genocide by HermesEs 2018-12-05T19:58:53Z

Wow guys. First of all, you did all did SUCH a good job here. I can't even believe this is a jam game to be honest! Everything is polished, there are cute sound effects, the mechanics work really well, and guess what? The game itself is even very fun too! You hit all the marks for me! Of course, I didn't want to leave the planet, because who wouldn't want to stay on an island with tiny creatures with tiny hats?? Very good job y'all!

On The Verge by Akros 2018-12-03T20:58:35Z

Ah geez, that was such a dark experience: you did a very good job though! I like the little story you got going. It makes you wonder about some extremely hard decisions, and in that way is similar to the 'trolley problem' (google it if you don't know). Also, the voices were at times a bit hard to understand, because they were so distorted, but it wasn't really a big problem. Good job man!

Steven's Journey by Engyne 2018-12-05T19:51:08Z

What a beautiful game! I'm quite literally stunned by the art and the (procedural!) soundtrack you guys made as a team! Wow! Now, I must say I'm a real sucker for audio-visual kick-back-and-chill experiences, so this was right up my alley. The one gripe I had with this game was that the mechanic, while probably being fine on mobile, can be quite tiring for your hand when using a mouse! It might also add some more depth if there were more (dangerous) things to avoid or spectacular things to see in the sky. Anyway, you guys did a really good job and you should all be proud :D

Ps. Of course, this should be my favorite game, since my name is Steven ;)

Expendibots by pandan 2018-12-03T13:33:11Z

I really liked your idea here. It kind of reminds me of an older ldjam game 'snakeforce' where you had a line of soldier that all walked the same way, like your bots. The puzzles are pretty solid. Using the barriers to line up the bots was a great idea. I coulnd't finish the whole game (ragequit after failing on the last bit 3 times in a row, haha, but I really liked it. I did think, however, that that the difficulty curve was a bit steep, especially in the beginning with a lot of bots. It's quite hard to get them all perfectly lined up, since they like clustering up. Anyway, good job!

The Apostle by Norfma 2018-12-05T19:22:14Z

I love the concept of having to go through the same old easy level over and over again, but with a major handicap every time. You had me laughing my ass off when I gave my glasses, or the UX designers soul, or when I gave gravity. The animations are also pretty nice for a jam game, I didn't expect that. Maybe put up some screenshots on the page here? The jump feels a bit slow, so you really have to time it well, but you get used to that after a few turns. You could also jump a bit higher. Good job on the game and nice work!

Sacrificed Dimension by Vatigo 2018-12-03T13:56:26Z

I super love the concept! I can see you have taken a lot of inspiration from the game Fez, which is good! I loved that game, and I love approach too :) I can see how some people are saying the difficulty curve is way too steep in the first level (it wasn't for me, since I'm used to these kinds of games), but in general it's good practice to make your first levels practically un-failable, so people can find their feet, and aren't scared off! One other thing: because there is a top-down map, I ended up spending a large part of my playtime looking at that, and just using the 2D view to get my bearings as to which direction I was walking. I'm not sure if this is intended, but you could possibly fascilitate this by give the topdown map and the 2D an even amount of space on the screen (just a random suggestion.) Anyway, I think you did a great job on making this game! It feels sturdy, intelligent, challenging and fun. Good job on making it!

Love is Sacrifice by Pawel W. 2018-12-03T21:18:47Z

Wow, this was much better than I expected! Your art is absolutely amazing. And those animations! Perfect! The story is great, and it's actually pretty relatable for me.. It's always amazing how much we sacrifice for others we love. Good job on making this game! Unfortunately it sometimes got glitched, like below, and then you can't progress (the characters just stand there.) Maybe that's just a random bug though. Nice work :D Knipsel.JPG

The Price of Crops by Nakami 2018-12-05T19:15:58Z

Great game with a few drawbacks! I really enjoyed seeing all my little farmers race around to follow my orders. The graphics and animations look absolutely awesome man, good job :) I did however feel like it was somewhat chaotic at times, and I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to bring food to the gods? When I picked up food, they brought it to the storage. When I click the fire, they jump in themselves, haha. But I couldn't make them drop the stuff in. Also, I assigned a worker to the bakery, but he won't go inside the building, and I can't figure out how to get the wheat to him to bake bread. I feel like that's a real missed opportunity, because I know all those features are there, there just isn't enough explanation to get them across. Maybe I'm just dumb, who knows? :P Anyway, good job on the game, you did a great job and you're really talented :)

LD46 — Keep it alive

Eggcelerate by TimBeaudet 2020-04-23T09:33:38Z

This is such a cool little entry. Perfect example of what a jam game should be! It's quite a challenge but not one that's impossibly hard. The game feels balanced, but also frustrating at times because "I SWEAR I NEARLY DIDNT HIT THAT BUMP, YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE ME!?" Great concept and execution, good job :) PS. I just realised that this would be AWESOME with some friends in a local CO-OP setting. Have a few different cars like in rocket league and the ability to bump each other, this would be so great!

Disaster Island by Virtual Turtle Studio 2020-04-21T12:30:22Z

@a-312 Thanks for playing and for the feedback! I have no idea how the slider became laggy but I also didn't really have time to playtest, so I guess that's why. Rip your population dude! :P

Disaster Island by Virtual Turtle Studio 2020-04-21T20:22:42Z

@nathan-wiles Thanks so much for playing & giving feedback dude! Appreciate the kind words :)

Disaster Island by Virtual Turtle Studio 2020-04-23T08:51:23Z

@theamerican Thank you so much for you valuable time and feedback, I'm super glad you enjoyed despite the lag! Good feedback too, it would make the game way easier to read than it currently is.

@railgunzx Thanks for the kind words and your helpful insight! I'm sad to say I don't have a proper solution for the lag spikes just yet, but otherwise I might have developed this game a bit further :)

Disaster Island by Virtual Turtle Studio 2020-04-24T21:42:13Z

@shay-cichocki Thanks so much for playing :D Good feedback, it definitely has some oversights because of time constraints, but hey that's what gamejams are haha.

Unnamed Balloon Game: Video Game Edition by 1PunnyGuy44 2020-04-21T19:33:48Z

Definitely a cool game! Very relatable since we all used to play this back in the day! You managed to make a fun game with very limited level design and I applaud you for that, good job man. I hope you keep doing jams, this game is very addictive and perfect for jams!

Frequencies by De Nederlandse Amerikanen by Pengon 2020-04-23T09:23:34Z

So this is definitely a very intersting and innovative concept. I liked the idea of having to switch my music quickly a lot and it made for very interesting gameplay, as I also have to juggle my spotify playlist outside of the game, while playing the game itself. What I found is that it's kind of easy to find music that satisfies all frequencies relatively well, which makes you kind of invincible :P Also, I sometimes found that it was quite hard to know what was going on in the other rooms, even with the status panel in the top right, which meant that I sometimes lost the game without any clue of where I went wrong. This could maybe be solved by putting everything in one room, so you get a better overview? Anyway, very cool concept and I think you guys definitely learned a lot, which the goal was, so good job!

KIA by Marlo 2020-04-21T19:48:48Z

I enjoyed the gameplay but I think it has more potential if you expand upon it a bit. For example, if I knew exactly what everything did than I would have had a better time. The teleporting is also a bit random and looks like a glitch. Other than that, congratz on your first LD game!

Torchlight by RailgunZx 2020-04-23T09:06:20Z

First off, the graphics look amazing! I love the animations and light effects you did here, very interesting. Of course the game isn't finished yet, but there were some hurdles too: I found it extremely difficult to clear the first jump, and when I fell in the hole nothing happends (which I suppose is because it's not done yet.) Then I found out I could double jump which made my life so much easier, but maybe a little heads-up would be great in the future! Or like a jump that's a bit too high, where you can't fail, but it hints at your double jump ability. I very much liked the mechanic that your torch is running out and you have to be quick enough so you can reach a checkpoint to rekindle it. I think it'd make more sense for these checkpoints to be reusable, like a campfire, instead of chests, as that would give the player a bit more leeway and also the chance to rest for a second. I'd definitely expand upon this idea because it's very promising! Especially if you combine it wirth combat. Good job!

Critical Freight by Nathan Wiles 2020-04-21T19:16:18Z

I really liked the game man. Very well balanced (and hard as balls!) but very fun. Managing all these factors can take a little time to get the hang of, but once you do its fun and tough. I love the look you managed to get in two days, the atmosphere is really there. Would have loved to get some more little sound effects in there, but that's all :)

The Hand That Feeds You by TheAmerican 2020-04-21T20:15:58Z

I had a bit of a hard time understanding the games logic to be honest, but I think with a little explanation it could be really fun. I just didn't know how to get the sunlight in quick enough, he always seemed to get mad. I would also recommend making the UI fixed on the screen, so you always see it. I love the animations, art and music. Good job dude!

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Colorful Memories by Ayxs 2020-10-08T10:00:09Z

What a lovely experience this was. First of all, I'm in love with the spherical shader you guys used for the world, it really creates this feeling of a small cozy world, and the looping is really seamless too! The story elements were nice, and although not very complicated, added a nice layer of meaning on top of the color adding mechanic. Nicely done guys :) One thing: in my first playthrough I fell through the ground after watching the backpack memory, so I had to restart the game.

Orbitality by CruelMotivator 2020-10-19T18:40:12Z

This is honestly a really great concept. I could grasp the main mechanic literally within the first 5 seconds of playing, which isn't something many jam games can do, so good job. I like how simple the premise is, but how extremely difficult and chaotic the game gets (very fast, actually!) I love it though, I had a lot of fun playing this. Good job, you did great for this jam!

Dreamin' Cat by Fockx 2020-10-06T19:09:27Z

A very good and polished entry! It incorporated the theme well, without letting it become annoying. The platforming reminded me a lot of the game Celeste, which I love. I have to say, the graphics, animations and audio is amazing. Together they create a very good atmosphere. The platforming became really hard all of a sudden, and after a million tries I had to give up, but I certainly played for 15 minutes or so! Compliments :) Ps. I kind of felt like the hitbox on the spikes was too large and they were too easy to hit. The ghosts also felt a bit useless as they didn't respawn after dying. Anyway, good job guys!

Ribbon by 100th_Coin 2020-10-19T18:33:42Z

Wow, this is a surpringly interesting and innovative concept, I don't know how you did all of this in the time of a jam! The elephant in the room are that the controls are somewhat wacky, but honestly you'll get used to them quick enough, so that's no biggie. I found it hilarious when I stabbed the guy to be honest, that was golden. The art was really beautiful too! I loved the concept of the little 'islands' in their own style, but I couldn't help but feel that the brick world surrounding it felt a bit cold and disjoined from the lovely artstyle of the rest. Maybe that's just because you had to cut corners in order to get it done in time, and I totally respect that. Anyway, good job, you did really well on this one!

Within The Hour by ghost-in-the-toast 2020-10-07T07:59:16Z

Interesting concept! I managed to solve the puzzle, but I was a little confused on which date I had to use as there were multiple, so I just guessed the last digit ^^ It's interesting how the rooms change after some time, and how everything resets. But it would be more interesting if everything changed every time you woke up again. Anyway, good job on this game!

PolyFury by Dom Harris 2020-10-07T08:53:46Z

Cool little game! It's pretty and look and sounds great too. However, I do have some feedback: I thought the camera would rotate with me when I spun around the circle, but I was a little confused when it was a static camera, especially because the perspective is slanted (instead of top-down, which would make more sense for this current approach). I also found that the player movement was so fast that I couldn't precisely dodge enemy bullets, and it felt a little 'out of control'. Other than those few things, I really liked the idea of having multiple 'shields' / seperate enemies, which you can systematically kill, instead of one big boss. Maybe some more phases or waves, building up in difficulty, could be a cool addition! Good job on this entry!

All A Board by Jake White 2020-10-07T08:22:00Z

I love this game and the main concept a lot! It looks super cute and the gameplay is actually really fun. However, there are some things that hold it back in terms of gameplay: I feel like the cart speed is still waaaay too fast, and sometimes it just felt like the cart was going insane, and there is not enough feedback for when you hit an enemy. I often times had no idea whether I actually had hit an enemy or not, which kind of suckes. Also, the aiming is a bit hit or miss sometimes, with hits sometimes registering and sometimes not. The slow motion is neat, but making the music slow down too can lead to lots of distortions as you spend a lot of your time in slowmo. It might be worth trying to keep the music playing normally in the background. Anyway, overall it's a really nice and cute looking/sounding game. I like the concept, it was just a little fast for me :)

Pip's Journey by JemSmith 2020-10-19T18:54:07Z

I very much love the idea of this game, and would definitely, definitely tell you to keep working on it. It has a lot of potential, especially with the little cute pieces of story and dialogue. Just like the game Thomas was Alone, you gave these little chess pieces their own personality which I loved. The gameplay is really fun too, but I have to admit that it was like a million years ago since I last played chess, so I got stuck (yes, embarrasing, I know), HOWEVER, I totally see the potential of implementing chess rules into this sort of a game. Genius! Like I said, i hope you keep working on it, and best of luck :)

Core Defender by Hadi Danial 2020-10-07T20:31:27Z

When I finally found out how to activate the weapons it was quite fun. Was a little slow, I think you could have made it a little faster. Good job with this game :)

@gabriel-dias-oliveira-de-almeida Haha thanks for playing anyway. Glad I could at least confuse you ;)

@acuriosity Thanks for the compliments and for playing!! The game is heavily inspired by games like Life is Strange, where it was my favourite thing to just walk around a room and read about all the backstory all the objects had. I totally understand it's not for everyone though!

@fockx That's awesome to hear that you're a DJ too! Glad you liked it. PS. I freaking love San Holo (I've seen him live 3 times!!), so that's probably a subconscious inspiration. Thanks for playing!

@ondy1985 Thanks for the kind words! The theme inspiration here was a little far fetched, but it's explained a little in the introduction text. I agree it's not the most strict interpretation but oh well ;) Thanks for playing anyway!

@bredera That's a huge compliment, thank you! I appreciate it a lot.

@mathemagician I totally agree that the ties to the theme are pretty loose, but I agree that interpretation on the end of the player is also interesting, so maybe it's an advantage in disguise? Hehe. And thanks, I've always felt that writing was 'scary', but it's actually not! It's quite fun, really.

@getsky I'm so happy you say that, definitely what I was going for. Thanks for playing!

@jonathan-lorenz Totally fair, still glad you played and enjoyed the graphics, thanks!

@dumplingsquid Awesome, thanks so much for playing! Great suggestion with the marker, I've heard others also so that, so I'll probably add that as a small patch later. Glad you enjoyed!

@100th-coin Genuinely thank you so much for your comment! I can't tell you how much it means to me as a game developer when people connect to something you made on an emotional level. I'm currently in a period of my life where I'm very rapidly leaving behind old memories, places and people, which inspired the writing in the game. I'm not a very good writer, but I tried to be as genuine as possible. I'm very glad you enjoyed the experience :)Thanks again for playing.

TALLY MARKS by de3sol 2020-10-07T09:25:22Z

This is such a cool and atmospheric game, I'm really surprised this was made during a jam! Good job!! Everyting looks and sounds awesome. I liked the wrench-attack, it felt powerful as heck. I loved the puzzle elements and all that! The atmosphere and story is definitely what kept me engaged for so long, I was super curious what was gonna happen next. Sad thing is, I got stuck and I genuinely didn't know what to do anymore. It was in the room with the giant white energy ball in the middle (with x-shaped paths leading to it.) I found the note, but saw no way of escaping that room. I even climbed up to the platform to see if I was supposed to teleport, but nope. What was I supposed to do there? Other than that, super cool game, seriously hope you keep developing this!

TALLY MARKS by de3sol 2020-10-07T18:37:54Z

@nohua Ohh that totally makes sense.. I just didn't ever have to destroy the environment before that so it didn't come up in my head!

Phil Alone by Gabriel Dias Oliveira de Almeida 2020-10-06T18:38:40Z

Interesting little game. I tried getting a different ending, and I saw a few things hinting to different endings, but I couldn't seem to use my lighter to burn things. Maybe I did something wrong? I still liked the little house and that everything was interactable!

Cereal Killer by Shelvid 2020-10-27T07:56:44Z

Full of humor and great writing. I loved the gameplay too, BUT I literally couldn't get past the first real enemy encounter because it's so damn hard. The enemies just KNOW where I'm going to move next, and fire there, they got wallhax, I'm sure :P I'd love it if the difficulty got ramped up a bit more slowly. Maybe theres a trick I'm missing, but I could barely seem to be able to dodge their bullets, let alone actually shoot them. Anyway, I loved the approach you took on this game, and it definitely turned out interesting. Good job!

Uroboro's Guardian by Tomeyro 2020-10-08T09:10:39Z

I like the concept and enjoyed the game, but I think there are a few things that could be improved on in order to make the player have a better chance of surviving (and enjoying) the game. First of all, I'd give some more feedback on the actions of players. Right now, it's really hard to see whether I hit an enemy or not. Also, I'd make all enemies a one hit kill, it's already pretty tough to hit them, but it gets a little frustrating when you have to hit them 2 or 3 times in a row, especially when there's so many of them. I love the defenses you can put up, but when you're in battle, it's hard to see how many energy points you have, because you're focusing on shooting. I'd maybe change the energy points into a bar, floating above the player (but you'd have to make clear it's not your health.) Lastly, I think it'd do wonders if the player could use their mouse to aim and fire at the enemies, I personally found using W / S really difficult. Anyway, I think you did a great job on this, the art looks really cute and the mechanics seem to be thought out really well. I think with a few tweaks this could be pretty damn fun! Hope you keep working on it. Good job on making this entry!

Escape From Rotting Town by Jonathan Lorenz 2020-10-11T07:32:45Z

It's a short little game and not too hard. It's pretty alright in the fun department, but I think it'd be a lot more fun already if the combat was a lot more skill-based. What I mean by that is that there is more of a emphasize on quick reactions etc. Right now it's really hard to hit someone, because the character stops moving altogether and the animation has to 'charge up' before it 'hits' someone. You could definitely make that animation way quicker, and keep the character walking, which would make the game a lot more fast paced. I like the mood you created here, it's nice and spooky, I'd love some more backstory of why these people try to kill me ;) The money mechanic is interesting, but you could also just say that if you kill all enemies you can open the gate, which would make more sense in my opinion. Anyway, good job on what you have. I know it's really hard to get animations right, so you did a good job!

Hide, Seek, Die, Repeat! by Firesplash Entertainment 2020-10-27T08:13:23Z

Ahh, I really like the concept that this game went for, but I can't help but feel that it's just really hard to play which is why I couldn't end up finishing it :( First of all, I really love the atmosphere that you guys created, that's top notch! However, for the first good 4 minutes I walked around in the outer wasteland without a clue of what to do. I gave up, but only then saw the picture on this page, and finally understood that I had to randomly press the 'darker' keys on the keypad in order to enter the facility. To be completely honest, I think you could either just remove this whole section, or make it so that the door just opens when pressing E, which would prevent players from getting stuck there. Also, inside the facility it's sometimes really hard to see where there are paths, because of the perspective. The radar is definitely nice, but sometimes you still end up getting trapped with almost no way out. I didn't really found any clear objectives immediately, except for going up to the first panels and doing something there. There were hints however, so maybe I didn't read well enough. Anyway, I still really liked the idea you guys were going for here, and I'm only trying to give some feedback which I hope is useful. I hope you keep developing this in the future, as there is definitely a lot of potential here! Best of luck, and good job on what you guys did already :)

Countercl0ckwise by Iker Díaz 2020-10-11T07:36:40Z

Very cool idea for this theme, actually. I couldn't for the life of me get to the number 0, but I love the challenge of it getting way harder every time something gets added, and the fact that you only have one life makes it super tense, good job! You could also add an event where the whole thing starts spinning backwards all of a sudden, which might add a little more complexity. Good job!

Stuck in the Office by BobParis75 2020-10-07T20:07:26Z

This game is really interesting in that the main mechanic works really well. However, I got pretty confused about a few things, because they weren't explained very well, like that you could 'teleport' by going outside the level. I didn't know how to do the first big level, because I couldn't get my last guy to run all the way to the top in time, the timer was just too short. Anyway, I think the game looks, sounds and functions really well, I just wish there was a little more explanation :) Good job guys, hope you keep developing this.

Chompy by aCuriosity 2020-10-06T18:44:59Z

I wasn't expecting anything like I played to be honest, but I loved it. I'm dizzy as all hell now but it was worth it, because all the commentary had me laughing out loud :P Especially the meta comments about the player getting 'sick of the lack of game development' were hilarious. I had to stop in order to save myself from throwing up tho, but good job!

@acuriosity I feel ya. My highscore was either 4400 or 440000, I think the first one.

Start The Game (Together) by Raivk 2020-10-27T08:39:23Z

Alrighty, this is a seriously underrated Ludum Dare entry. This HAS to be my favourite Ludum Dare 47 game, period. It's the only one that I felt deserved a 5/5 stars in the overall category, and I don't take that lightly! It's clear that you guys are a professional studio, full of incredibly talented people. I don't know how, but you managed to make an incredibly polished, fun and interesting game in one weekend! That's a huge deal. Seriously, good job. I won't spoil anything for other readers, so I won't go into further detail, but you'll have to play this. I love all the attention to detail, like the amazing graphical fidelity, the UI (animations) which are just so clean, the sound design, all the different little games, the networking features. Sheeze.. there's just a lot of work for 1 weekend. Congratz guys :)

Beware, space! by Vladimir Smolin 2020-10-19T18:46:14Z

Pretty cool little game, I've actually seen a few 'manage yourself in a room' games during this jam, but I like the simplicity of this one! While it's one of it's strengths, it's also one of it's weaknesses, as doing the same things over and over again in a sequence isn't exactly too fun. Maybe you could break it up with some more random stuff happening in between? Also, I found that my madness was going up extremely fast, and I died a couple times without even knowing what hit me. (the first time, I couldn't even read the tutorial before dying, haha.) Anyway, I think you guys still did a very good job on this game, very nice work!

Ebontale by JUSTCAMH 2020-10-07T07:45:51Z

Very, very cool concept. Loved how you kept the game relatively short too, perfect jam game length! That final boss kept killing me though, it kinda sucked. Hope you fix that in a post jam version. Other than that I loved it!

My Sister by DaveDoublee 2020-10-08T09:47:06Z

I love these kinds of atmospheric walk 'n puzzle games where you go through a story. Think you did pretty well, especially liked the clever 'light' puzzle. At some point I got stuck though, because I couldn't find the journal everywhere. I even found the empty page, but not the journal.. Other than that I really liked the story, I was intrigued!

Photon Loop by Alexascher 2020-10-08T08:46:18Z

I really enjoyed this game! The experience was super chill and calming, and the mechanics were interesting. There was actually a lot of complexity, with lots of different kinds of nodes to play with, and intersting choices to make. I played for quite a long while before my last photon sadly faded away. The splitting node especially makes it fun to play, because you really have to decide on whether you want one strong photon or several weaker ones. I think you could add a few more beacons, because at times it was hard to explore new areas, but that's all I can say. Very fun and chill. Thanks for making this, good job!

S P A C E D O U T by LanaLux 2020-10-08T08:30:17Z

I really liked the mood of a lonely ship stuck in space, especially with the calming music. The problem was that the game fullscreened in browser, and I often couldn't completely read the texts in the corners of the screens, which I think is why I missed some important information. I like the idea of having to manage the three elements, and doing it with different activities tho! For some reason, I couldn't always do something, so maybe I missed a warning message or a cooldown timer or something.. Anyway, I ended up with crippling depth and no way of knowing how to fix it, woops! I still really liked walking around the space ship and just chilling out. The sounds and graphics are beautiful, good job!

Round-a-bout: Get Me Outta Here! Edition by trmrddr 2020-10-08T17:37:53Z

Very cool little game! I hate roundabouts in real life, so when you guys stacked them, it really was a nightmare for me haha. For some reason I actually got stuck on a roundabout with only wrong exits, is this possible, or did I do something wrong? Also, I actually found that hitting the cars was so much more fun than not hitting them, so maybe you could actually do something with that mechanic. Follow the fun, and all that. Good job on this game guys :)

"Used to it." by TheAidency 2020-10-08T09:31:39Z

Very mood-heavy game for sure, you guys did really well on that part! It's an interesting look into the life of a shut-in, and the way they think. I didn't really find any 'end' to this game, but I guess that's the whole point, going for the 'stuck in a loop' theme, right? It would have been cool if there were a few more interactions around the place, or some more story to go through, but I get that you only have so much time during a jam, and a lot of your time probably went into the art and stuff. Good job guys :)

Spin Attack by 1PunnyGuy44 2020-10-06T19:52:25Z

Such a creative entry! I love the mechanic, it's so simple, yet effective. You even had time to implement multiple classes in the game, that's pretty amazing! Some feedback: I definitely think you could get away with making all the enemies a 1-hit-kill. The enemies with multiple lives feel a bit dragged out, and end up making you go back and forth near them. You could turn this into more of a puzzle style game and it'd be really cool. Good job!

Stranger dreams by Colmaphis Games 2020-10-08T08:50:56Z

I'm pretty confused, to be completely honest ':) I've seen a few hints, and I guess the solution is to play the doors like piano keys, and follow the tune on the radio, but how am I supposed to do that? It seems really hard. Am I missing something? Another tip: if you're going to do an infinite loop of the same room, I'd suggest changing a few things each time, because right now it just feels like you're clicking on doors and they either work or they don't, which is a bit weird. Hopefully this feedback is useful, good luck :)

The Endless 8 by Jvdwijk 2020-10-19T19:03:15Z

This game was pretty damn ambitious for a jam game, but you guys made it work. There is a lot of dialogue to go through, and after a while I think I just didn't read it all anymore, so I wasn't able to kill the right person. I did really like the fact that you scramble the words more and more as you progress through the loops. It's a really cool concept, and maybe if it was all made a little more compact and quick, it could be really damn fun. Good job on the entry, and good luck in the future!

The Titan's grave by BadPiggy 2020-10-06T19:41:29Z

Man this game is hella tough! I love all the movement, but the only thing that sucks a little is that you slow down when you shoot, I think it would be much more fast-paced when you could actually keep walking while shooting. I died in the final phase, which kinda sucked, but it all looked and felt really cool. Good job with this one man!

Roll it up by Tom Kun 2020-10-07T09:29:35Z

Fun little game, I really liked the look of this little landscape, very cute! Although it wasn't too hard, I liked that you had a variety of objects that came from different directions, like the boomerang etc. I think you could make the ghosts a bit faster, because sometimes they're not fast enough to catch up. Good job guys!

Ghost Loop by Nathan Wiles 2020-10-06T19:46:43Z

Very interesting puzzle concept, it makes for quick and clever puzzles. Nicely done with the time that you had this weekend, good job!

Loopsie by Enes Ayyildiz 2020-10-27T08:18:06Z

Sooo... I guess in this game you'd have to remember what the right and wrong paths are in order to run as long as possible? That's what I got, judging from other comments, but I didn't really understand that in the game; I just thought it was all random, which it is, right? I'd love it if there was a way to know which path was going to be the right and wrong one, and you'd have to react super fast, as the level sped up and up! I love how the tiles float in from the air, the environment looks nice too :) Just some more 'game design', and making of meaningful choices would be nice. Good luck with this, and good job on making this little game!

Anything For You by Emily Pitcher 2020-10-27T09:11:19Z

Wow, first off, that's a lot of people having worked on this game! And it shows too. I think this is the longest I've played any Ludum Dare 47 game, which is a compliment. It's a sweet, yet double-sided story about a girls relationship with her grandpa, and the conflict between love, and the generational gap they share. I'm very glad all the flashbacks were completely illustrated, that definitely added a lot to the experience. I'm glad you ended on a happy note too. It's not always easy to come to terms with differences between you and the people you love, but in the end we all pass away at some point so it's probably best to try our best not to be too critical of others. At least, that's my interpretation of the story, and it's a very beautiful and meaningful message. Thanks for making this. I also love the stargazing reference (the store page looks great by the way!) The only feedback that I could give is that I'd love for all the story to be narrated (which is a lot of work, I know), but that'd just add that little extra emotional connection to the story. Very good job guys, you should be proud :)

Just In Beaver by ondy1985 2020-10-06T19:20:42Z

Lovely little game you got here! It looks super cute and when the beaver started walking around it was just way too cute. The game is pretty addictive and I think with a bit of music this would have been even more fun for a long time. My highscore is 612, but I do think it's a losing battle. At some point you just see the water going down and there is no way you can keep up, haha. Anyway, good job on this entry!

Bind Off by dumplingsquid 2020-10-11T07:23:49Z

That's a cool little concept you got right here. I love how the gameplay compliments the story of this old superstition, that's pretty neat (or should I say pretty knit)! I liked that it was pretty short, perfect for a jam game imo. It was also pretty hard to spot the mistakes sometimes, but also fun to track them down. I was a little confused by the speech bubble pixels as first, as I thought they were the mistakes, but then they disappeared. One minor tip: I think having the same interaction buttons (space and arrows) to skip through the text makes it so that people skip a lot of the text by accident, because they were just walking around. I definitely skipped a few by accident! Woops. Anyway, good job on this game, love the idea and execution!

13 Codes by JammyGunns 2020-10-08T09:01:58Z

Interesting concept for sure, being stuck in a maze that changes based on what you enter into the consoles. The thing is just that it's really unclear what does what, because there is barely any feedback at the moment. I would love to hear a little sound when I press something, or when a door opens, so I know what activated what, you know? Also, I think you could just make the buttons be pressed with left mouse click, it got me a bit confused that I had to use E. The maze itself is pretty intersting, but not very clear since you don't really get an overview. It'd be awesome if you could pull up a little map, showing you an overview look of the maze, so you could easily see what your actions did (what doors are open etc), and how you are supposed to go to the end. Hope you keep working on this. Good job :)

Resurrection by etrealjunior 2020-10-07T20:21:19Z

Interesting game, it feels quite artistic but can also be a bit slow at times. That does give you some time however to think about the story and such. Cool little experience, and the drawings are quite cute!

Neverending Duck War by Angelee 2020-10-08T17:14:05Z

I loved how brutal this game got within a few minutes, haha! I murdered all enemy chicks and fed them all to mama. Then she ate me! :( Big sad. Anyway, I think the game looks and sounds really great. Very cute and polished. I like that you even had time for an options menu, good job. Some feedback would be that I think the game could play out a little faster and shorter, as it took quite a while to complete. I love the combat part personally, so maybe you could give that an even bigger role in the game? Just imagine giving your bro's swords and helmets and marching into battle :P Good job on this game!

Get Over Yourself by SpawnCampGames 2020-10-07T08:11:14Z

Very intersing main mechanic, but I can't help but feel the first level is way too complicated already! I saw exactly what I was supposed to do and where I was supposed to go, but I was missing one important step in between and I couldn't figure it out :( I think if the mechanic was introduced a bit more slowly then it could have been a bit easier. Also, I think a timer that counts upwards might be interesting, because a countdown timer is quite stressful, especially in a puzzle game. Anyway, I definitely like the mechanic, and the artstyle + atmosphere in the game, so good job on that, it's just a little hard ^^

BoreOut! by HOOLOP 2020-10-06T19:30:59Z

Man, the isntant I started up this game I got Budget Cuts vibes and I loved it. The robots, the jazzy sound effects, the office setting. Awesome guys! I didn't do too well but I enjoyed the playthrough :) It was hilarious to see my coworkers fly across the workfloor!

Looper by Shortbread 2020-10-07T09:07:38Z

This game is suprisingly polished for something made in a jam! The game looks and sounds amazing, and the puzzle mechanic is very interesting too. The only issue I really faced here is that it's super hard to know just which side you'll be rotating towards, as it's not always something that is very intuitive for our stupid human brains. Not too sure how you'd fix that though. Another thing (that is fixable) is that the spikes are pretty unpredictable in their movement, often killing me without me knowing they were going to go that way. I'd much prefer if they were set on a set trajectory, like a straight line or a circle which they move along. Other than that I had a great time puzzling this game out, I'm impressed by what you've done in a weekend. Good job!

Last Night in France by halfboltGames 2020-10-08T09:21:03Z

First of all, I love the graphics, atmosphere and IDEA of the game. The first level alone is just so damn hard, even when knowing what to do, that I couldn't get past it. I tried a lot of times, but I just couldn't get the timing right! I'm a bit sad, because I'd love to see more of this game, but it's impossible to get through right now. However, I do feel like you definitely know what you're doing in terms of art and atmosphere, so with a few tweaks to the gameplay this would be awesome! Good job, and good luck in the future!

Plague Friend's Deathly Journey by sakura_magika 2020-10-27T07:48:16Z

Hey, this was a really cool little concept! It took me a while to actually finish the game, but I did it (and died, LOL!) I like the way you interpreted the loop theme, it felt really interesting to be able to 'move through time'. It felt weird and disorienting, and really logical at the same time, if that makes any sense. The writing was witty and fun, I definitely enjoyed reading it all. Good job on this, hope you keep on developing it :) Ps. the main character is super cute!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Embark by Pseudohausen 2021-04-27T12:10:28Z

Loving the concept of a idle brick breaker! The artstyle is very nice, the UI interactions smooth, and the music + vibe soothing, I definitely enjoyed playing. However, I do have to admit that I was a little confused about what was going on once I started out. I get that we collect 'dust' by breaking blocks, but I have no idea what we use that for? You seem to need coins for upgrades, but I didn't see my amount of coins displayed anywhere. So at first I thought the dust was my 'coin' amount, but that also didn't seem to be the case, as I couldn't buy a 25 coin upgrade when I had 40 dust, so that all was a little confusing. However, I could totally see this being a really fun idler if all of that was a little clearer, definitely well done!

LakeLeak by SugarSores 2021-04-27T11:59:35Z

I love the concept of this! The artstyle is really nice and I think the gameplay could have been really great, had I not stumbled upon two problems: 1.) The controls seem a bit janky (you also mentioned this), to the point where I wasn't quite sure whether I was doing something or whether the character was moving without me interfering. 2.) the low visibility under water caused me to be completely disoriented as soon as I went under, so I had no idea where the trash was, or where I even was! Maybe a minimap with trash indicators could potentially help with this? Anyway, I think this is a really cool and ambitious concept and with some tweaking could be a really fun game! Well done!

Down Golf Down! by Virtual Turtle Studio 2021-04-27T11:48:35Z

@pseudohausen You're completely right! I noticed that too, but due to the little time I had I didn't have time to make quality of life adjustments and just had to roll with it (pun intended) ;) Thanks for playing though! I'm glad you somewhat enjoyed it :)

@dragonsbeardgames Thanks, I'm glad you enjoy the visuals ^^ I probably shouldn't have gone for a ortographic view but I couldn't resist the visual eyecandy - you are right, it makes it hard to play! Thanks for playing!

Down Golf Down! by Virtual Turtle Studio 2021-04-28T19:29:15Z

@rongefilet Thanks! I've noticed that too haha! A friend of mine sent over a video of him just spam-clicking to each checkpoint and it was pretty cool. Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed ^^

Soul Catcher by DragonsBeardGames 2021-04-27T12:24:53Z

I really liked this concept! Very cool idea that works really well. At first I was a little daunted by the 'complicated' looking UI, but it turned out to be very simple! I did play on easy, (and it was very easy), but I kinda enjoyed building an unstoppable army of bois that absolutely shredded every enemy coming their way. The soul-catching part of the game is a nice twist, shifting the focus away from the fights and making the game more of a strategy/idler game. This felt nice to me, but it did cause me to kind of miss the fight happening on ground level, but that's not too bad. Good job on this one, I very much liked it :)

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shot Clock by Nathan Wiles 2022-04-06T08:00:56Z

A polished game about a nice and solid concept! The game felt smooth, without weird physics interactions and/or glitches that I could feel. The game seems well balanced with the timer and movement speed. Once you get into the flow it becomes super fun! Only gripes: it took me a while to get used to the control scheme. I actually expected W to be the JUMP button, so even though I read the instructions my brain constantly kept pressing W to jump. Another thing is that I expected the 'thow up' functionality to actually throw the ball straight up, but instead it was with a curve which I think is less intuitive. Other than those I think you did a great job, GG!

LD57 — Depths

In Murky Waters by Virtual Turtle Studio 2025-04-09T07:12:11Z

@teist Thank you so much for playing & the kind words! I really appreciate hearing that you enjoyed it and that you managed to solve the code, good job!

In Murky Waters by Virtual Turtle Studio 2025-04-09T07:46:06Z

@chybby Thank you so much for giving it a try and I'm glad you enjoyed it and appreciate my efforts to polish it a bit!!

In Murky Waters by Virtual Turtle Studio 2025-04-09T11:33:51Z

@kawair Thanks for giving it a try and I'm glad you liked it! I'll check out your sonar game as well :D

@balimaarthebassfish Thanks for the kind words and for giving it a try! The ending was a little rushed, if I'm honest. I kind of ran out of time and had to take the route of keeping the story vague. But I would have loved to expand upon what exactly happened to the ship and what the crew found here. I might update the game after the rating period had ended with some more explorables that add to the story. If you're interested (and a bit of a spoiler), the 'matter' that the crew found turned out to be contagious and it slowly infected all the crewmates until they were unable to operate the ship and it crashed. This is also why the final matter sample you find has the same glowy effect as the people on the ship. Thanks for your feedback!

In Murky Waters by Virtual Turtle Studio 2025-04-10T09:08:45Z

@dywanix Thank you!!

@zuhairghias Awesome, thanks for playing the game and finishing it! Glad you liked the mood :D

Mr. Money's Phenomenally Soggy Water Removal Romp by Rhoka 2025-04-09T08:17:48Z

Love the vibe of this game! Everything seems well done and I love that everything is original. It's a cool concept and I'm impressed by how much game there is to this. Lots of things to do! Well done for such a short time!

Depth Self - A narrative game by Flokami 2025-04-09T08:34:07Z

I would have loved to get into this since I love games like this and the concept seems really good! However, I just wasn't able to piece together my first image, no matter how hard I tried, even with the guide. It took me a while before I realised I could drag inside the windows, and then I realized it's actually a perspective camera and not just a 2D image. However, I just didn't know what part of the images I was supposed to overlap, since all showed the entire scene. I'm guessing I'd have to line up the angles of the cameras, but I unfortunately wasn't able to. The art looks really cool though and the way the game controls is awesome. Really good job!

Sound Of Ignorance by xorfe 2025-04-09T08:51:16Z

Whoah, awesome! Love the vibe of this game, even though I have no idea what's going on. I wasn't quite able to understand the whole gameplay sequence but the experience was awesome nonetheless. The game also crashed on me in browser (using Chrome). But I love the hand-drawn artstyle and the unique feel of the game. Good job!

Rolling In The Deep by chybby 2025-04-09T08:07:07Z

Really cool concept and very well executed! The game is really elaborate for a gamejam, well done! I loved the level design and feel of the game. The humor was on point as well. It was really clever how you designed the spaces to be navigational in multiple directions, that must have been a challenge. Sometimes the parkour was a little too finnicky in my opinion, but I still managed to make it all the way through. The turning of the ship was pretty disorienting at times too - but it did add to the overall experience and story of the game, which were very unique. Well done!!

The Fall by Teist 2025-04-09T07:20:28Z

Cool concept! Kind of reminds me of super hexagon, but then very different. It was pretty difficult, especially on my old laptop that couldn't render everything in perfect 60FPS haha, but I managed to get pretty far! I like that you dont instantly die when you hit a metal beam. It definitely goes very fast at some point, but maybe my reflexes aren't the best haha. Cool graphics and sounds! Well done!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Are You Smarter Than An Alien? by smallboss 2018-05-16T11:46:49Z

Congratulations man! Really well done, I'll play it when I get home. For the people doubting this guy: I didn't participate or rate in this LDjam, but I can tell you that smallboss is a very cool member of the GameDevUnderground community and that he would be nothing but honest. Have a nice day!
