The graphics of this game is so cute!

glaas 2020-10-05 23:31

I LOVE the graphics so much !! ♥♥

Although the game felt quite unresponsive at times, I enjoyed it a lot !

croze 2020-10-05 23:35

This is amazing! One of the most beautiful LDs I've seen, and the gameplay is very well done too. I could see this being a lil arcade machine or something, also the music changing speed with the slow motion is a nice touch. It was really hard to find all of the enemies sometimes, maybe that's intentional but it got a little frustrating, maybe a minimap or something could help with that. I got stuck on the really big level that starts with all the bright mushrooms, but it was really pretty while I was stuck there!

jake-white 2020-10-05 23:40

Thanks! The design is definitely a little cryptic, since we we kind of ran out of time on level design. The idea was you might need a few loops around to slowly find them all.

sindri 2020-10-05 23:43

I adore these visuals and the style, but the game just launching in at top speed like that was really disorienting, and the aim even when slowed down felt really difficult. I love this attempt, and I think it may be one of the best looking games I've seen so far, but I'd love a touched up version with slightly more forgiving speed and aim!

battlerager 2020-10-05 23:47

Great graphics and presentation overall. Love how the slow-motion distorts the music. It felt like the lorry was going a bit too fast at times. Maybe a slower lorry speed, but some sort of fling physics on the projectiles to compensate, could be a potent mix.

I didn't get very far but will definitely try again. Great job!

blind-lemon-games 2020-10-07 04:50

Nice look, agree it started out too fast took a minute to get bearings (cant read wall out of slomo). neat concept. great entry.

jamster 2020-10-07 05:00

Just a little bit of tuning and it's easily one of the top games this jam IMO. Idk what the rules are as this is my first jam, but if you went in and tweaked that one lever for speed I don't know how that could possibly be cheating. If it's against the rules, props for integrity

thundersalt 2020-10-07 05:01

Very cute game, the slingshot attack can be spammed, and the text is a bit hard to read at first, but the core gameplay, and riding around in a minecart is really fun!

kuro 2020-10-07 05:06

Cool idea. Could you make a windows build? The rocks were never flying in the direction I aimed at, and I suspect it might have something to do with the game being played in the browser. Who knows  Would give it another go.

jake-white 2020-10-07 05:38

@sindri @jamster Slightly lowered the speed! Hope that makes it a tad more playable, we were worried about it being too slow and frustrating having to wait out the loops.

@kuro Just uploaded a Windows build to the itch page. No idea if that'll fix it, but fingers crossed.

jamster 2020-10-07 05:48

Just replayed and tweaked my score a bit. It feels great. It's still fast, the slow-mo is still necessary, but I don't feel rattled now :P

shortbread 2020-10-07 07:06

Nice use of the theme and I like the art style, however I found it a bit hard to hit the targets and felt the "normal" speed was too fast. Like others have said, with a bit of tuning this could be quite good!

hengen 2020-10-07 08:07

the graphics in this are sick dude! Good job!

virtual-turtle-studio 2020-10-07 08:22

I love this game and the main concept a lot! It looks super cute and the gameplay is actually really fun. However, there are some things that hold it back in terms of gameplay: I feel like the cart speed is still waaaay too fast, and sometimes it just felt like the cart was going insane, and there is not enough feedback for when you hit an enemy. I often times had no idea whether I actually had hit an enemy or not, which kind of suckes. Also, the aiming is a bit hit or miss sometimes, with hits sometimes registering and sometimes not. The slow motion is neat, but making the music slow down too can lead to lots of distortions as you spend a lot of your time in slowmo. It might be worth trying to keep the music playing normally in the background. Anyway, overall it's a really nice and cute looking/sounding game. I like the concept, it was just a little fast for me :)

domin77 2020-10-07 10:20

A really fun game and this graphics looks amazing. Good job :)

xsoodx 2020-10-07 10:24

Kind of reminds me of those old on rails shooter games. Great game, great music, great concept. In the future please add in a sensitivity control setting for an FPS. it was too high for me.

pixelmoose-studio 2020-10-07 10:24

Super cool consept, amazing art style. I would be nice if you got the information in the start of the level while stationary, i found it a bit hard to read while constantly moving.

minibetrayal 2020-10-07 10:39

Love it, particularly the music effect during slowdown. Once slight change i'd make is that the text at the very beginning was a bit fast, and i could barely read what it wanted me to do. perhaps give the player infinite slowdown until they enter the first room? Also I found the boss a bit easy compared to previous rooms. Loved it though, and would definitely play a longer version!

aquanim 2020-10-07 10:47

The art style and the music work really well together.

It would be nice if your slo-mo capability refilled when the targets are reset, since otherwise you can be forced to wait and go around again to have enough slo-mo stored up to have a reasonable shot at actually beating the course. Even despite that the game is a lot of fun though :)

ericbolseiro 2020-10-07 11:18

Nice game, hard to play (for me, heheh)!

helen 2020-10-07 15:05

I love the card board style! Playing was fun although I was even with slow motion too slow :D

kate90 2020-10-07 16:51

You have no mercy! :P Not voting, sorry, but I cant play it. Everything spins so fast! Felt unwell almost immediately...

ryzy27 2020-10-07 16:52

Great game. Gameplay and graphics are unique, music and sound effects fit nicely and add to the atmosphere.

Sometimes it was hard to see if I have hit the enemy and when I did it was often too late to try to hit again, so I was always spamming to make sure I hit :)

Definitelly one of the best I have played so far.

Cheers!

ribout-horace 2020-10-07 20:57

The game is way too hard but it's also way too beautiful ;_; I love so much the art style ! And the concept is cool ! It just bug me that... why do I have to slow down to be able to shoot ? It's so weird... And well it's cool to play it, it's too hard and any mistake cost you a lot of time unfortunately.

tori 2020-10-07 22:15

Such a beautiful game !! i love the art style so much ! <3 i liked how to gameplay felt, i think you made a great entry !

capital-ex 2020-10-07 23:33

Very fun on-rails shooter. Loved the bullet time feature and cute graphics!

mrsamafu 2020-10-08 02:48

nice game dude

100th-coin 2020-10-08 06:56

Woah this is cute! I love the carboard cutouts! The music really fits the mood too, excellent work!

rainbows-are-fun 2020-10-08 08:02

So much fun. I love the art.

coding4rtist 2020-10-08 15:16

Like the use of the theme. Graphics is really cute. Music is amazing. Good work!

erlioniel 2020-10-08 17:07

Wow pretty nice one! The only issue for me was that there is no intro or smth and everything is SUPER fast. But a great one anyway

eugenik 2020-10-08 23:59

Very impressive and well executed on all fronts!

rosypenguin 2020-10-10 06:02

Fun art style with the cardboard cutouts, and a pretty innovative mechanic. I felt that the slingshot just didn't shoot where I aim though, and moved quite slow. Also the player being thrust full-speed into the game was a tad disorienting. But overall great work.

steambrain 2020-10-10 11:43

Nice art style and shooting range concept. Sensitivity is a bit high for me. Music is nice but slow-down effects sometime produced strange clicking for me. Hard to understand if I hit the target, and if so how much HP it has left(it seems it's not one? But maybe I missed a lot?)

ctpeepee 2020-10-10 12:43

Beautiful looking game, very impressive to have done all that in a weekend!

olafstromberg 2020-10-10 13:07

Game looks very nice but it is too fast to read the text and when I shoot the bullet doesn't seem to hit anything, so didn't progress at all. Good try.

snotax 2020-10-11 17:41

Beautiful graphics for a jam! You really did great with all the cardboard monsters! Also the sound went great with the gameplay. One big negative was the mouse sensitivity, for myself it was waaaaay to sensitiv i kept spinning in circles at the beginning :D

pichuscute0 2020-10-12 04:18

@steambrain All the enemies are just one hit to kill (other than the final one technically, but it's still the same idea there). All the enemies in an uncompleted loop do reset every time you go around, though (at the signs with the purple rewind icon).

lelulagames 2020-10-13 13:53

This is so well polished. The only thing that I could think would make this better is a little tutorial card at the beginning, otherwise it's really good, and incredibly challenging but in a way that makes me feel like I can get skilled at it. Love the music slow down, and the cut out characters.

animaster 2020-10-14 21:32

Graphics is beautiful, and music fits nicely. Maybe it was better if you show enemy counter? I rode several laps before noticed stickbug target. And also it helps to know if you hit or miss. Anyway, great job!

alchemic 2020-10-15 08:26

I absolutely love this game! Y'all never disappoint lol.

The shooting felt a bit weird. Sometimes my cart would zip around a corner before I could see if I actually hit the enemy or not. Not being able to shoot without the slowmo seemed a bit weird, unless that was a glitch?

Cart seemed to go way too fast. If you're concerned about the player getting bored while looping around, add a boost button instead. I would have liked more time to take in the beautiful environments.

Beautiful artwork, beautiful music, super cute aesthetic, fun gameplay.

Would love to see a longer version of this game!

hybitous 2020-10-15 18:46

The cardboard graphics look great and I love the slow motion sound effect! I'd appreciate it, there was a mouse sensitivity slider. Bonus points for the punny title

ava-skoog 2020-10-26 15:00

Gorgeous, both graphics and sound. 😍 Like many others I unfortunately had some trouble playing due to the speed and lack of feedback when hitting something and eventually I just got stuck, but I really like it and with some fine-tuning I think it could be amazing! Great job! 🦇
