LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Gravity Blade by chainedlupine 2020-10-05T22:21:21Z

Download link will be posted very shortly! The final build came in juuuust under the wire because of the final push to get the boss working. It's on the way, and will definitely be done before Submission Hour ends!

In case folks didn't see, the download link is up and running!

@annie-owl Thanks for the feedback! More intricate controls on the snare mechanic are actually directly on our list. We tried to refine them a bit more, but really had to crunch working on the boss first. Glad it's a requested feature!

@kaiomoi Thanks for the feedback! Unfortunately instant respawn was something we had to tolerate to get the game in on time - we actually wanted to do a more classic Gradius "return to checkpoint" respawn system, but just couldn't implement it in time. That's definitely on our list!

All A Board by Jake White 2020-10-05T23:43:59Z

I adore these visuals and the style, but the game just launching in at top speed like that was really disorienting, and the aim even when slowed down felt really difficult. I love this attempt, and I think it may be one of the best looking games I've seen so far, but I'd love a touched up version with slightly more forgiving speed and aim!

Humdrum by ZachsButt 2020-10-05T23:15:22Z

I adore this, and whatever your protagonist is. The treatment on the text slowing down and colorizing and all that for the different actions is outstanding, and the music halt near the end killed me. Love this game!

Hook and loop by Kaiomoi 2020-10-05T23:24:58Z

Shame I'm not seeing any ratings on this one so far, it's not the most home run take on the theme, but this is a really solid platformer mechanically. My only wish, aside from the obvious post-jam polish, would be to have movement on the arrow keys with space to jump, rather than face keys, just for the sake of ease. Really like this!

Among Me by Verbante 2020-10-05T23:46:40Z

This is a great idea, and once I started to get the feel for what was going on, I was super into it! Plus, the hand-drawn aesthetic is really rad. Great job!

Dig what was done here - nice and challenging basic gameplay, plus bouncing Astronauts around is excellent!

Hamster Simulator by snowinn 2020-10-05T23:39:05Z

I'm kinda blown away how long I played this without stopping, haha. The center bit-crushed GIF sells the entire thing, and honestly the stat juggling / "don't stop" gameplay makes this weirdly fun despite how intentionally simplistic it is. Great job on this theme!

Third Time's the Charm by Jag 2020-10-05T22:55:01Z

At a glance this looks really impressive, and the obstacle course is admittedly fun, but this just being primarily an asset flip is really a bummer and not really in the spirit of the jam.

Third Time's the Charm by Jag 2020-10-06T05:16:07Z

@jag - Since it looks like I can't directly reply in this layout, hopefully this gets your way:

The essay was super fine, honestly! The extra context really changes this situation up - sorry if I misinterpreted anything in the initial game notes provided (if not, just to help others not make my mistake, it may be worth writing that info up in the main post) - I can absolutely appreciate flexing the code angle, and given the fun no prizes situation and all that, I'm more than willing to roll back my earlier post! The way the base post read made it seem like this was just pre-made stuff put together *including* the code, but if all of the actual functionality was base made, then that changes stuff entirely! Thanks a ton for the clarification here, and I hope I didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth at all!

Coin Cavern by HappyDevilGames 2020-10-05T22:42:35Z

I really like this! The take and visuals are really cool. Not the biggest fan of shooting while moving, but it wasn't hard to adapt to, and I understand the need for limitations under these conditions. This is one I'd really like to see expanded upon in the future!

A Game Devs Nightmare by DumbDumb 2020-10-05T23:20:21Z

This is such a great spin on the loop concept, and honestly just a really clever puzzle game in general!
