LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Fat and Furry-ous by Tex Killer 2020-10-07T01:39:11Z

@tex-killer Did you *actually* forget to disable the auto fatness mechanic, or did it just not work? I used Debug.IsDebug() in my game, and it flatly didn't work when I deployed to web.

Anyways, I thought this was super fun. I watched my girlfriend play and fail several times, but it was obvious that you simply needed to avoid cheese until late. It took me one try. I think people need to play this to learn an important life lesson -- you don't have you stuff your fat face with cheese all the time.

Clearly, you need more levels, I'm guessing you ran out of time. It should be easy to create levels, and I really don't think you even need more prefabs than what you have, just wheels and cheese placed at different intervals.

Good art, fun gameplay, I want more.

LMAO just noticed she necroed a game from 7 jams ago

LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Looper Cooper by Imphenzia 2020-10-07T08:30:44Z

Beautiful. BTW I wouldn't have finished my first ever game this Jam if it weren't for stumbling across your videos a couple weeks ago

Looper Hell by Dubgron 2020-10-06T23:31:04Z

The gameplay felt good, felt nice to get in a rhythm and avoid getting hit. Super cool that you've used your own engine, definitely get points for innovation

a nice place by netmute 2020-10-07T10:04:32Z

simple and beautiful

The Backseat Gamer by Daniel C 2020-10-06T22:21:41Z

I couldn't see well, but I didn't care because I was just playing to hear you speak to me again. You guys got a lot of stuff done, well done

The Daytona 666 by piscythe 2020-10-06T23:09:46Z

I really liked having health bars on the enemies. I gave this a 5/5 for fun-- thought difficulty was appropriate, I beat the eye monster the first time through. great job, hail satan

Dungeon Loop by Ynk 2020-10-07T07:55:42Z

Really digging the low poly look, and that you made an rpg. Well done guys

Knights of the Holy Loop by RenD 2020-10-09T00:10:58Z

This is my kind of game - cutesy RPG, met the theme perfectly, and looks polished.

Not sure if you have custom CSS enabled with your itch.io, but you could potentially set cursor: none !important on the unity canvas. Probably not essential

Zog's Hopeless Abyss by ramza 2020-10-06T23:23:23Z

Really liked it, was super spooky. I would make the green portal things solid columns of light, it looked like fire at first and I was scared to go in!

Vanishing Woods by cdunham 2020-10-07T09:28:33Z

I thought it was really fun actually once I stopped being lazy and read the controls. My only criticism is that, if you aren't penalized for sprinting (like a gauge or something), you might as well just have me sprinting all the time since that's what I want to do

Sir Fishbottom and Also Head's TIME MOB by TyrusPeace 2020-10-07T07:18:32Z

Hilarious, and so much fun.

I could only be mad at myself, and then laugh, watching all of my previous incarnations all hurrying to the goal and waiting for someone else to do the job!

Over Unity - A puzzle game by nardandas 2020-10-07T00:47:45Z

Simple, good looking art. Menu screen is very well done.

The text is difficult to read, I would either use more contrast or put a solid color box under it. It also got chopped off on the sides, I would make the Canvas in Unity scale with screen size, it's under the Canvas Scaler component.

I have a feeling there are some really good puzzles in here, but it was hard to see where objects were in relation to one another.

All A Board by Jake White 2020-10-07T05:00:46Z

Just a little bit of tuning and it's easily one of the top games this jam IMO. Idk what the rules are as this is my first jam, but if you went in and tweaked that one lever for speed I don't know how that could possibly be cheating. If it's against the rules, props for integrity

All A Board by Jake White 2020-10-07T05:48:11Z

Just replayed and tweaked my score a bit. It feels great. It's still fast, the slow-mo is still necessary, but I don't feel rattled now :P

Ouroboros: The Cursed Hero by LERPish 2020-10-07T02:06:48Z

Good story, thanks, now I know why my knees hurt all the time for no reason -- Decay!

Quivering by SandPile 2020-10-07T08:15:07Z

The archery felt so satisfying, I would play more levels of this.

Hamsta's Paradise by brookman 2020-10-07T22:26:52Z

Finally found your game! I thought the controls were nice, I don't expect a hamster in a wheel to be able to turn like a Prius, but was pleasantly surprised when I could traverse the gap between two platforms because of the size of the wheel. The modeling was awesome as well, great job guys

siad (a visual novel) by printablealice 2020-10-07T02:01:06Z

I found myself interested in what was going to happen, and it was funny! I would stay away from political jokes, not because some will disagree (who cares), but because they reeeeeally have to be funny to be passable and "I don't like Trump" just isn't creative. The other jokes were good.

Assuming this was all hand-drawn, so high marks for art. I would agree with the comment about not focusing on the saving menu and all that, but I'm assuming that was built into the graphical novel engine you used?

Beware, space! by Vladimir Smolin 2020-10-06T22:10:23Z

At one point I couldn't get my mouse back out of the game lol. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do. I just started clicking on things, I went mad and the game restarted.

To echo the others, art was outstanding

Dragon Loop by JustusPan 2020-10-07T10:45:12Z

Why did I keep playing so long after it was easy? Lol, the game is hilarious and sneaky fun

Among Stars and Robots by jaoel 2020-10-07T01:17:43Z

Are you a UI/UX designer? Thought the UI was beautiful. The gameplay was good -- I felt like I wanted my choices to have to be locked in so it was more puzzle-y. Overall, this was very impressive for a game jam, I agree that this is almost ready to ship to mobile

HONK II by Tricky_Fat_Cat 2020-10-07T09:01:07Z

Shooting feels amazing, one of the few games I came back to play again. I do agree I want more instructions on switching weapon, running out of machine gun feelsbadman

The return of Bill by Rooster And Frétillant 2020-10-07T00:33:34Z

Really liked changing outfits, and the water effect was really well done. I agree about the jumping mechanics being slightly off, but overall very fun. Also, don't put in the skip button! you probably worked hard on the cutscene, and it's worth watching.

Undead Carnival Carnage by dummydojo 2020-10-07T04:03:35Z

5/5 for every category, all of you did superb. When I died, I instantly clicked retry every time

LoopBots by Empty Set 2020-10-08T01:48:07Z

I'm glad I'm getting around to reciprocating for those who reviewed my game. This has been one of my favorite games so far, and it's kind criminal how relatively few ratings it has. I'm sure that will balance out when some of your other ratings cash in for karma.

Art - simple but appealing. I found the character interesting, and the loop bots are hilarious looking.

I thought the first level was an excellent primer. Simple, but necessary to interact with everything. No, I did not come close to approaching your scores.

I worry that people won't do the tutorial, they absolutely should, it's a gem of a game that's really well thought out.

Delivery Boy Forever by civmaniac 2020-10-06T23:48:18Z

Great art! Lots accomplished here with so little time. That said, there were a lot of interesting items in each scene that were begging to be clicked on, but you couldn't. Again, took "Game Jam" into account

Hyper Hamster by Nazorus 2020-10-21T01:34:39Z

This was outstanding. Great minds think alike (Though I admit you guys executed better than I did)! My heart was racing as I climbed the speed ladder

Happy Land 4 by Str8griz 2020-10-07T00:18:59Z

Art was phenomenal. Gameplay was fun. Curious, was the click to put a beaver down a dev tool, or an intentional game mechanic?? Also, would have liked some early checkpoints

Great job!

Maze Service by Oshawatt123 2020-10-06T22:35:02Z

Can I play this on Linux? I really want to play this one but couldn't figure out how

Bloody Loop by Ashkman 2020-10-07T02:15:26Z

The gameplay was fun! On the Hints menu, I would have the button for exiting game say "Exit Game" instead of exit. I clicked it thinking I was exiting the menu, and the game ended, but there is no visual indication of this (unless you open the dev tools :P)

All in all, a good job

Cat | Stealth | Box by JakeGilla 2020-10-07T05:41:40Z

I liked the models a lot, and has great potential, but desperately needs a little more content. I picked up some bones, died, and the next time just went straight through without a hitch, expecting the next, harder level

Long dungeon by BorisFromMurmansk 2020-10-06T23:38:39Z

Thank you for making an action rpg :)

- I didn't think it was too easy - kept dying when I forgot my squad lol - Let me break crates! - Enemies were creepy

very fun

Hammy's Modern Life by Waneck 2020-10-08T00:12:59Z

Awesome pixel art. Great work!

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-06T20:09:42Z

@fractal-flower-girl Thank you for playing! My girlfriend also said that about the jumps, and also gauging where he is laterally. But making him cute was the top priority :)

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-06T22:51:44Z

@spawncampgames The two carrots side by side can be retrieved in the same loop, but it's almost certainly too hard for the 4th level. Great feedback

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-06T22:52:31Z

@cwazyweirdo I am a new game dev, yes. But I've been a web developer for a few years

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-07T09:45:00Z

@snotax Idk if I have just been looking at it too much, but sometimes when I look at the floor I see red and green spots and it doesn't feel good. Either way, sorry!

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-07T09:47:07Z

@rschoellgen Thanks for your comments! Yeah, I guess I made the first couple levels with players like my mother in mind. I sent her a link to the game and she said she managed to get 1 carrot. Like, what?

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-07T09:58:41Z

@unhandyred As a programmer who makes mostly "programmer art", these are the comments that fill me with the most joy haha

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-08T20:01:09Z

@tricky-fat-cat I thought about doing that, since the levels are already programmatic, if not procedural. I couldn't think of a clever way to randomize though, if they were truly random the level would almost certainly be obnoxious

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-08T23:52:11Z

@flazone There must be at least, one person in the world, who would play this endlessly. Right??

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-09T20:19:07Z

@cdunham Thank you! I will do that immediately

Hamster Dash by Jamster 2020-10-28T07:20:07Z

@anchorlight Oh, totally. The position of the spawning points of obstacles is also a waste of time as others have pointed out, it could simply have been moved to the right side of the wheel instead of the top.

I spent an inordinate amount of time programming the level creation system -- using some trig and stuff so that obstacles could be spawned both at intervals and relative to each other, and gave myself 30 minutes total to design all of the levels. That was a mistake :P
