Even tough the game still has some bugs. I was able to enjoy it. It reminded me a bit of the metroid series (which I love!). The comic like sequences were funny.
But the boss is quite hard. Especially because of the darkness (and getting stuck in mid air from time to time) :)
The game has potential but still feels a little too glitchy / buggy.
Why didn't you create the audio yourself?
I have to say that I am not the biggest fan of avoider type games. Basically its nicely done. It's very simplistic, which matches the theme right, but I miss some sound fx or music. Also, I found it a bit disapointing, that the graphics are in ASCII, but they flow freely on the screen. When I saw the screenshot I hoped for a "real" console game ;)
Very cool concept for the minimalism theme... I always liked adventures and more story driven games. This is definitively one of the best entries i've seen so far. The mood is just great (I wish my folks would stop run away and go crazy XD)
One button super meat boy... The first thing I thought while playing ;) I like the graphics style and the sfx suit the game well... A nice oldschol (chiptuny) soundtrack would have been cool. I like, how the blood is the only colored thing in the game... And the replay system is well made.
The screenshot of your game reminded me of lemmings. I like graphics style and the idea is also something new, but I think the controls are to sloppy. A game shouldn't be hard because of inaccurate controls. This makes you think that you are not in control. Also, I think with the right background music, the game could be more atmospheric.
Cool game... Was a bit affraid of the dogs ;) I always have a hard time with those controls (shifted 45Β°). The spoken dialog gives the whole thing a good atmosphere.
Very funny theme you got for your game... After destroying the door some times it gets pretty dull, but the art style and humour makes mi smirk ;) the background music is very cool
Interesting mix between puzzler and action game ;)
This game concept has been seen many, but it is nice how you incorporated it in the minimalism theme. I like the music and sounds very much.
I found the reaction of the controls a bit unsatisfying. Made me quit the game pretty quick. I like your concept, but it could have been executed better (I think improving the movement will do a lot). I like the music and sfx of your game... reminds me of some old classics.
Very funny to play and I also like the graphics, but here I think the music made the game... The sound has oldschool midi character, but is very beatuiful and well composed and gives a nice sense of adventure.
Fun game... i very much liked the music. The meditate mechanic was a nice twist to the gameplay.
Cool idea, but the sound is very creepy. Also, you should use softer colors, my eyes hurt now ;) But overall good job!
Nice game(s) over all. Very simple concepts and controls. I like that. It fits the theme well. However the difficulty curve could be steeper and it would be nice to hear some sound. Also the high score board seems to be broken.
This game reminded me a lot of TRON 2.0 (the ego shooter). It has a really cool visual style and interesting idea. However a few times I had bug, that the console doesn't allow to input anything anymore.
Very funny entry...
Very simple game, but it fits the theme... It's just too short. The pixelating effect looks cool.
I like your approach to the theme very much. It is a simple, minimalistic game, but comes with nice retro graphics. Also, working in a bif office environment, this entry somehow mimics my work day... Just get sh*t done and don't get distracted ;) I like it very much. Tom
The enemy sprites are nice ;) The game places nicely but I had some trouble first with the keyconfig. Maybe it would be easier to change the active weapon and only have one attack button (or two, one for melee and one for the bow).
Very simplistic game, that fits the theme right. Some more levels would have been nice (maybe even a random level generation, to increase replayability ;) ). It bothered me, that I cannot close the messages with the keyboard but had to move my hand to my mouse (yes, I'm lazy ;) ). I think if it was a bit more fleshed out (and a bit faster), it could be a great casual game.
I like the artistic style of your game (graphics and sound). I needed a while to find out, that you can only dig some blocks and than need to place them to make room for more.
Does not run on my Win 7 64 bit. Just crashes after starting
Very nice game with cool ideas. The graphics are well done. The first time, the game crashed, when a bird landed on my head and I pressed Q...
WOW, I'm impressed! Best game so far. :D
I like your game very much. Great oldschool sprites and nice background music. Had to laugh at the dancing dogs XD
Cool concept with the two dimensions. Game is funny to play. Only some sounds of the background music seemed very harsh.
An AI would have been nice, as I could only test it with two browser windows open ;) The game fits the theme nicely and your game looks in general very simple but good. Sound would have been nice.
Your game is very beautiful and gives a nice tension while waiting for the oponent to move... I like the small details, like leaves falling from the trees. Also, the music helps a lot in developing the mood.
I played the game without reading the description... Was a bit puzzled at first about what's going on ;) I Like how you incorporated a complex and deep matter in such a simplistic game. The game bored me pretty quickliy but it also made me think, and I like it when games do that ;)
Interesting idea for the minimalism theme. What I liked most is how the background changes and is more and more distorted. But I missed some sound fx.
This idea is incredibly creative! AWESOME!
The game is solid and fun for a few minutes. But somehow it never really ends (played until 2000 points before getting bored). Maybe you should increase the difficulty gradually.
This is art, well done!
This feels like piece of art. Congratulations!
Nice idea. The game works but is not so well thought through. Some of the images are really hard to recognize and the black "clouds" are irritating.
Keep it up!
Nice little game. I liked the mood. But it's way too easy (just hold space and an arrow key to finish it).
Thanks for all the feedback!
r0x0r & FlashRocks: Yeah, seems like Suzanne got into an accident involving industrial machinery. ;-)
About the controls: I tried to improve them, although they aren't "physically correct" anymore.
BMacIntosh: Are you running the web version? The game runs at a solid 60fps on my office (non gaming) PC. I noticed some lag, when I had two unity players running in different tabs though. It also helped using Chrome instead of Firefox. And you could also try the standalone version for better performance.
wow, i love it! this game is really awesome.
Very nice visuals and cool idea!
The movement is not very intuitive however and the audio is kind of dull.
it doesn't seem to load
Ladies and Gentleman, we have a winner!
That was fun. :) Did I finish the game when entering heaven? Why is there another computer there? Can I do anything else?
Reminded me of the cataclysmic cookie clicker game. Almost caused me to relapse. :)
Keep up the good work!
Nice game. It was entertaining and executed well. Maybe you could have added a "fuel bar" to see the remaining fuel more precisely.
The game entertained me for a few minutes. Because of my severe cookie-clicker addiction, I keep an "auto clicker" tool on my desktop. It kills the addiction quickly. :)
Funny idea with the wizards. It should be balanced a little and you should lower the time for influence gain.
A fellow Swiss game dev? :O
Nice game! I liked the idea and polished graphics. It was fun to play and upgrade the ship! The camera movement made me a little sick though.
Nice to see a fellow Swiss game dev! :)
Made it to stage 23. My strategy: Order the nodes by value in a bi-directionally connected ring (like this: http://i.imgur.com/CDmyadw.png) Then fiddle around a bit until it's in equilibrium.
Keep up the good work!
My jaw dropped. I'm honestly impressed. So awesome!!
I like the mood. Very relaxing. :)
Short but good. I really like the visual style and the music is awesome.
Entertaining! I like the idea with the two views. The last two levels were rather challenging.
The audio and the sprites *cough* megaman *cough* could be improved. ;-)
It wasn't THAT frustrating! Beat it after 15min. :)
Keep it up!
Good work. This game rocks!
Overall a very good entry! It is really innovative and the graphics are cool. My only remarks are the slow movement (a little "gluey") and the parallax of the device screen. For some reason it made me feel a bit sick walking around and looking though the screen. But I finished the game nevertheless!
Oh! Awesome. This is great. I love the mood and the "unfair" mode is a real challenge!
YOU CAN USE THE MOUSE WHEEL TO ZOOM!
You should really write that somewhere. It took me 5 minutes to find out. Flying aimlessly at the closest zoom level and never finding anything is kind of boring. :)
About the game: I like the style and mood. Nicely drawn character and quite some humor ^^ (achievements). The music is rather minimalistic, but it fits.
Game play wise there is room for improvement. Maybe you should add more star matter (closer together). And please fix the randomly jerking camera. I think rotation is not really needed (you could align the text horizontally).
Keep up the good work!
γγγΌγοΌ
It's a nice little game. The concept is not terribly innovative but it works and kept me busy a few minutes. Is 388 a high score? ^^
A few points to improve on:
- The camera movement between the layers is kind of confusing.
- The ratio of tall and short blocks is not well balanced between the two layers. It seems there are no very tall ones on the back. (this is maybe intentional)
- Some background music would be nice.
- The rotation animation of the yin-yang symbol could be smoother.
Keep it up!
Awesome! Best entry I have played so far.
It's an advanced concept for a jam. I like the blocky style and I was motivated to play quite some time.
The balancing could be improved, but for the time frame it's impressive.
I had some bugs where ships get stuck inside the planet. In one instance the trade route was corrupted so that the planet started trading with itself and the money shot up. See here: http://i.imgur.com/bWsSB5y.png
It has potential, but it needs some work. :)
When I press space the character also moves to the right. Is that intentional?
I really liked it. The idea is great and I like the visual style. Unfortunately it's too easy/short and the controls feel a little glitchy sometimes.
Very nice artwork, simple but well executed.
Background music and a distance counter / record could help to motivate for a longer time.
Wow, I really enjoyed that!
A really solid game. It's almost perfect!
@redunca @jarvisp99 @macmist Thanks for the feedback and please excuse the shaky camera movement. We have published a new version which should make you less nauseous (the original version is still available).
Thanks everyone for the valuable feedback!
@jamison The game idea was actually inspired by Monkey Ball! Just with a wheel/cylinder instead of a ball.
The problem with turning is that we have implemented it physics based via a torque applied on the y axis. This leads to inconsistent turn speed due to friction which can vary on how exactly the wheel touches the ground. Regarding turning when going backwards: The rotation is applied in the same direction independently from the rolling direction. This feels counter intuitive because it doesn't behave like a car. Maybe turning could be implemented with tilting the wheel slightly to one side (think more like a bike) instead of rotating around the y axis. But this would probably not work when standing still and make navigating narrow spaces difficult. In the end everything would be much easier with a ball/sphere
And I agree, in hindsight more open levels might have been a better fit.
:scream_cat: This is amazing! The game is super well polished and there's a bunch of content. I love the aesthetics, different weapon/enemy types and killer music. True DOOM feeling - 5 out of 5.
A very cute hamster ! I liked the minimalistic concept and art style. It is worth exploring combining different states/actions and look at the results. I like feeding the hamster until full and then forcing it onto the wheel. I'm so evil.
I found your game as well! Instant up-vote for the cute hamster. The theme fit is perfect and it's fun. I especially enjoyed level 6.
