I quite enjoyed the games humorous tone and what I assume are deliberate grammatical errors. Seems okay, though there are way too many enemies.

I quite enjoyed the games humorous tone and what I assume are deliberate grammatical errors. Seems okay, though there are way too many enemies.
Wow, your pixel art is really astounding! Love the music too, good job!
The game is punishingly cruel - it honestly reminds me of IWBTG with the double jump mechanic at times. I liked the graphics (which are strikingly similar to my own game...), and overall I found the game maddening but enjoyable. :)
I thought the character model looked great! I thought the terrain looked a bit weird in places, especially compared to the cell-shaded characters. Still, relatively enjoyable. :)
I quite enjoyed this, though I was left unsure at the ending scene.
Wow, I really enjoyed this game! It's certainly a very unique game mechanic in play here.
I found some of the interactions hilarious. Interesting concept!
Wow, I really loved the idea behind this game! I found some of the scene transition noises a little bit jarring, but other than that I really loved this game.
I quite enjoyed the gameplay - though I feel a visual indicator of the player's health would help out a lot!
I really enjoyed this game, the story seemed intriguing and the game was fun to play too! I thought the music set the tone nicely and the graphics were nice and simple - my only gripe is that I felt the difficulty ramp in the second world was massive as compared to the first. Still, keep up the good work!
I enjoyed the game: interesting both to look at and play! However, I have to admit that it is a slightly complex game at first, but once you've got the hang of it it's an interesting strategy game.
Overall a very interesting game - as someone who id deeply interested in physics they concept seemed very innovative and appealing! My only gripe is that there seem to be at most 2 levels built in, and that the game is unfortunately not that fun. However, it is indeed a very interesting toy!
Very fun, I must admit. Simple concept, well executed!
I liked the game idea, but the audio was really grating. For next time, I'd very highly recommend putting together a basic html page and hosting your flash on Dropbox - that way more people can play your game (and Mac users are not deterred).
"It looks really nice but I think there might be something wrong. I open, and I shoot, but then the screen fades to black."
This.
I enjoyed the graphics of the game and the music seemed nice. I found the character sprite quite humorous too! Still, I felt the difficulty curve was rather steep - perhaps you should have had the enemies start off slow and then get faster? Still, I think it's a great first compo entry!
Great proof-of-concept here, it would be great to see this expanded upon for a future release!
I liked this game, very ambient and soothing! I found the player's purpose very ambiguous, though I assume this was your intention? :)
It's very aesthetically pleasing, and unique!
Great idea for a game, I think if you put in a bit more work and variety for a future release it would be great!
Wow, this game both looks and plays awesomely. You should be proud! I had quite a lot of fun when I figured out what to do.
I really loved the graphics and music - the spiky levels really reminded me of a lot of the architecture from IWBTG. If I could recommend any changes, I'd ask that the player could move with the platform they're on? That would certainly be helpful indeed! :)
Wow, probably the first game I've ever seen made in MAME!
Wow, I really loved the cards idea! I think it's just really, really unique.
I unfortunately had a lot of trouble grasping the gameplay from the tutorial alone, and I feel larger graphics would have certainly been beneficial. Still a great idea though!
Very unique indeed! :)
Wow, the ending was really philosophical. It was really thought provoking - though if you wait on the far left edge of the boat, you can just glitch yourself straight to the ending.
That was outright hilarious. Great pastiche of sentai anime tropes right here! ;)
Wow, the ending really cracked me up! I thought the concept was brilliant and zany.
Pretty fun, though I found the difficulty spiked rather immensely.
Wow, the graphics, I must say, are astounding. That caught my eye just from seeing the timelapse, so you're certainly doing something very right there! The music is okay, maybe a bit repetitive, but nice. The amount of work you've poured into this over just 48 hours is astounding - well done!
A pretty easy tower defense game - loved the humour in the backstory though. :)
Couldn't get the game to work, launching from command line failed as well. Failed with "IOError: [Errno2] No such file or directory: 'levels\\home.tmx'"
Wow, that was bloody hilarious. Found the controls a little hard to come to grips with, but other than that it was really excellent! Loved the art.
Game was very laggy running in Nightly, I found.
Thanks for all the feedback! Yeah, I agree that the game isn't very fun in its current state (presenting no challenge at all - eek!). So, maybe one day you'll be able to shoot something using our good friend Quark? Besides, I'd really love to make this so much better.
@MadGnomeGamer I had noticed a very similar bug in the green room with 100% reproducibility, though I have died in the blue room several times with no ill consequences. I have a feeling it's the checkpoint system messing up colossally - it presented quite a few problems during production.
I thought the graphics looked very nice, and I enjoyed the concept. I noticed that the camera often clipped through geometry, and tried to rotate back towards its default position though.
Enjoyed the game, though I managed to end up pushed out of the level by enemies at one point (which was rather hilarious, I must admit). I like the choice of Brother Android for the title music - but it seemed a little unfitting for this kind of game considering it came from Hero Core. Still, enjoyed the game very much!
I love the graphics work here! The game is really fun to play too - although I think it could have benefited greatly from the addition of sounds. :)
Can't start the game on windows 7 - the error message involved "Could not load Main-Class manifest attribute..."
I like the idea of your project quite a lot - and it's very clear how it ties in with the theme! The happy microSD was a nice touch I must admit, however it seemed as though the circuit patterns were meant to serve a purpose, yet didn't.
I enjoyed the concept - and I honestly felt a little excited to get all the friends... :D I enjoyed the humour all throughout - you have a great informal style. Keep up the good work!
Reminded me a lot of Amnesia. I particularly liked the piano music as the start; I was wondering why it didn't loop or anything? I think that would be nice (or even an extended track!) :)
Managed to escape (22 moves); I really loved the introspective dialogue. I assume the themes here are personal to you; if so, then you've found a great way to express yourself. Kudos to you! :)
Bosses 4 and 5 just made me want to punch my screen. The laser attacks in particular caught me out whenever the flash-step didn't register. Just getting that out of the way first...
However I loved the game as a whole - the graphics were superb, and I thought the concept of an evolving boss monster was pretty awesome. The selection of powers overall was well thought out, although I really disliked backtracking everywhere only to find I was still missing a butterfly or something.
Still, fantastic for 48 hours!
The graphics are really lovely, and there's quite a lot of fun to be had from marching around a fire breathing dinosaur, too. :) Good Job!
Wow, the "fights" and the ending were hilarious! Great work. :)
I quiet liked this; it reminded me quite a lot of super meat boy! The humour added some nice touches too - great job on the whole thing :)
The idea of modelling the evolution of religions seems absolutely great to me, and though it's not particularly fun just now I think some of the elements you wanted to include would make for a great post-compo version.
I quite liked this game, though I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to play properly. Still, the graphics have a lovely retro feel to them, and the mix of RTS mechanics with evolution seems very interesting indeed.
Nice gameboy visuals, gamplay reminds me a lot of The original mario bros game and super Cratebox. Good job! :)
While the controls are quite tricky, the game had a nice amount of wit and humour. Great job1 :P
The title screen was really funny, but raising strong enough mons is really quite difficult!
I think my game crashed midway through, but pretty neat concept! Defeating the enemy is really quite a difficult task in and of itself, and the different types of lifeform are quite well thought out. I think the game could be improved if there were more visual representations of what lifeform inhabited what planet - when you're frantically dragging lifeforms to defend your planet checking the text can be quite bothersome.
Wow, the graphics are great and the game mechanics are really unique. Nicely done! :P
Interesting take on the theme, difficult too.
Hey, I'm enjoying your game but you mention in the info page that you take some of the music from this collection: http://feryl.bandcamp.com/album/8-bit-magic-a-module-chiptune-collection .
Sorry to be a wet blanket, but all of your content has to have been made within the 48 hours, and by only yourself to be valid for the Compo - I understand you've probably overlooked the rule by accident, I'm just saying to give you a heads up. Still, keep up the good work!
The control mechanisms were very interesting indeed! It's great to see such a unique, polished game - I think music could have made it even better though :)
I was utterly perplexed, and the lack of feedback didn't help at all. Oh, tell the guys back on scratch that RHY and Mach said hi! :)
The design of the website is certainly striking; the textured background makes it feel as though you're reading a real book. I found the story as a whole very interesting, and the ending certainly gave me a chuckle! :) I'm really glad to see that text adventures have grown in popularity this year - and yours is particularly excellent! :)
Fun, but I really felt my arm tiring having to repeatedly tap the movement keys. Maybe you could make movement continue when the button is held in a post-compo version? :)
The game itself is very relaxing and laid back - a great change of pace from the other games I've seen for the most part. :) I had some trouble trying to mix the plants (making it as far as ivy..) but it seems like it could be a very deep, interesting idea for a game.
Took me a second to get the controls, but the game itself is quite nice. :) I like the music, too! :D
I quite liked the mutations you could make - ultimately the game proved to become fiendishly difficult yet you could rack up score in no time. On the note of racking up score, the player can catch the ball inside of the paddle, essentially causing them to win the round as it bounces back and forth. Still, well done! :)
Wow, I really enjoyed this game. The text popping up occasionally reminded me a little of giygas, though... :)
I found this interesting, yet at the same time it wasn't fun. Still, given it was created in around 30 minutes I think you've done great! I can't help but wonder what uni.bb contains, however...
I really liked this game - the minimal graphics suited it really well! The music was pleasant too, but I think the final level could have given the player more time or been a little easier. Still, great effort :)
This game makes for a great spot of silly, well-executed fun. And that's awesome! :P
That was certainly very unique - can't say I've seen a mosquito evolve into a frog by eating some of them! :P The music was great, and really suited the graphic style. I enjoyed the sense of humour present throughout. :D
I really liked the idea behind this, and it was well supported by the excellent graphics. The sounds were very nice and organic, fitting the game very well. If I had to suggest anything, I'd ask that the difference between the two opposing cells could be made clearer - they're pretty easy to differentiate, but since the colours are quite close by it could present a problem for some players. Still, you've done a great job here. :)
I really quite liked this game, the backstory gave me a chuckle too. :) The mechanics behind this game are pretty great, and the monoliths make for some interesting tactical options.
The graphics are certainly very unique; I love that painterly feel! I'd really love to see more levels in the game - it could make for a really great experience if it were expanded upon. Great job! :)
Wow, I simply could not stop laughing once the guy's head fell off!
It was okay. Gameplay reminded me of Ice Climbers.
I couldn't help but aww at the protagonist. He's really quite adorable. :) I actually really liked this game, it's no doubt one of the most heartwarming ones I've played so far. From a gameplay perspective I quite liked this too - except that by the end the onslaught of words inevitably gets you the bad ending. Still, great job! :)
I quite liked this as a fan of text adventures and the like. A few commas here and there would be nice; natural pauses in the sentences do a world of good! :) Still, I did quite enjoy this - good effort! :P
I love the simple, yet engaging game mechanics and the art. I did however fall victim to a hilarious glitch where one of my astronauts walked off the creature to their apparent doom. :P I think this game would have greatly benefited from audio: I'd love to see what you could do for a post-compo version!
The idea behind this is fantastic, it seems like it could be great as a post-compo. Sadly, the gameplay is a little lacklustre, but well done!
That... That was beautiful. I simply could not stop laughing for the whole game; it kept alternating between heartfelt emotion and manic, hilariously great wit at such a ridiculous pace that I didn't know what to feel.
I started out by looking for everyone else who used Twine, and I ended crying tears of laughter. Thank you.
You should probably get to judging other games; that way your game should be pretty much visible to even more people.
It doesn't seem to load on my windows 7 PC. I'm running Java 7, by the way.
That was great! The music is really fantastic, and the general craziness of the concept makes the game very entertaining indeed.
I agree, you should move to XNA for making your games (XNA is practically designed for them, after all).
I have to say, this game's really awesome! The colour palette works great, and the UI and graphics have a slick, futuristic feel to them - it works fantastically! The music for the game adds to the action, it's well composed. :) It's a little weird when your shockwaves get caught on a wall, or when the music stops playing though. Fantastically done! :)
I really enjoy seeing online games appear in Ludum Dare, especially ones so polished. The graphics are lovely, and the music is probably some of the best I've heard so far. I managed to get a top score of 45 by the way! ;) (Also, is there a way to download that song?)
Seems really quite interesting - I couldn't make it past day 3 though. :P The concept of expanding a city in space is pretty neat I must admit.
I'm really, really enjoying this IF so far; mine pales in comparison! However, I've reached a point where I feel the game may be slightly broken - it seems you are allowed to open the pantry multiple times. I'm unsure if this is intended behaviour (I'm trying to complete Raul's second objective).
I made it to the kat-a-klone last night, but I'm stuck looking for a seed card or whatever.
Finished the game (I think?), some very nice parallels with Alien throughout! Great job! :)
Oh, I tried something different and got the proper end! ;) I knew there was a reason why I could go in there...
Wow, this game utterly hilarious, beautiful and great fun to play all at once! Amazing for 48 hours, certainly!
Really liked this game! Seeing an RTS was really quite unexpected for me, but everything's been done really well with this! Great job! :)
Lovely graphics and nice music, but I'll admit I found the gameplay to be repetitive.
Throwing meteors at the helpless dinosaurs is just the funniest thing. On this, we can all agree.
I was expecting to be impressed by this, yet to be bored too. And how wrong I was. Watching the tiny critters slowly learn how to dodge worms, seek out food in scarcity and spread across the board like ants just left me in awe - and after roughly 10 minutes I was still amazed! Very nicely done! :D
Getting caught by a nightmare square through a wall was easily the low point. Still, interesting concept. :)
I quite liked it, until I fell into the infinite void. Still, I'm sure you could expand upon it the way you originally intended for a post-compo version, the visuals really work great for this as well. :)
I found it took far, far too long to progress within the game. It just did not make for a very engaging experience.
I liked the fun, arcade-style gameplay in this game. The graphics were very nicely done, though I noticed the music didn't loop properly. Still, awesome job! :) (And humans look up, sometimes anyway). ;)
Wow, that was really quite funny. Always great to see something so different in LD. :)
The graphics are really fantastic - I felt they set the mood really well! I was a little creeped out, and the ending certainly caught me by surprise. Overall, I really enjoyed this.
I had a little trouble working out how to play the game at first, but it seems like quite an interesting concept!
I quite enjoyed the concept behind this game, and the dinosaur sprites are very cute and well drawn. :)
Keep up the good work!
That was pretty sweet, really reminded me of osmo.
That was probably the single most fun I've had out of all the games I've played so far. Deep down, you know you're right about Curiosity's true purpose... ;)
I certainly enjoyed the story, but truth be told I was a little squicked out by some of the body horror alluded to in the ending. Still, I thought it was well planned out. :)
The music suited the game, and the graphics were really quite pleasing too. Very well done!
Wow, as a die-hard fan of visual novels I have to say that was fantastic! The art was well drawn, the character designs were really cool and the writing was good too.
The change in character personalities over time worked well but it seemed really quite sudden; it'd be great in a longer story where it could be presented a little more subtly. The whole angel-eyes thing reminded me a little of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and as a whole the story was very descriptive and immersive. The softer music in the game worked really well, but some of the action pieces would have worked better with a tad more production - all of the music was enjoyable and suited its purpose, however. :) The ending was certainly quite unexpected, and I think the somewhat less than happy ending enhanced the game by setting a very dark tone overall.
If you hadn't guessed from the screeds I've written here, I really liked the game! ;) Great job, and keep up the good work in future!
I quite liked this, the Dude is quite an endearing fellow. :) I think the idea of a black and white character in a colourful world is really quite interesting, and it seems like this could be a really good game if you had more time to work on it! :)
I quite liked this, though the controls were a bit iffy (i.e. you continue diagonally if you let go of one of two buttons being pressed). It's worth noting that the audio works in Firefox Nightly (probably due to MP3 format?), I'd suggest using .ogg and .mp3 based on which browser accesses the page.
I really love the graphics and core gameplay on this. Well done!
This was a pretty cool concept, although I fear that using others' art may be breaking the compo rules. Still, well done!
The gameplay concept behind this is pretty solid, however even on easy mode it seems to grow very difficult very quickly. I like the visuals though, they really reflect the theme!
That was quite enjoyable, the graphics were lovely! I can agree the gameplay is a little repetitive, but I'm sure you could easily expand on it for a post-compo version. Keep up the good work! :)
That was quite enjoyable, although not having the mouse locked was a little disconcerting.
Very interesting, maybe a little bit more time would be nice! :) The design of the page was well thought out and complimented the game, too. Well done!
Nice entry, seemed a little short though.
Music was very nice, although I couldn't seem to progress past the first level. I did really enjoy the concept of snake with weapons though, grats!
I liked the graphics as well as the difficulty of the game. Good job!
I quite liked that, however there are still some bugs. If you collect coins out-of-order, then the end of level trigger never appears and the level is rendered unwinnable. I thought the graphic style was really quite nice, and the colour palette was well thought out. You might be able to make the jump motion a little smoother (i.e. parabolic) to improve the overall feel of the game for a post-compo project. :)
The concept was nice, but I'd rather not be exposed to bitcrushed audio like that every time I die. Maybe turn the volume down? :)
Graphics were lovely, and the audio was really atmospheric. The gameplay was pretty cool and the teleportation mechanic was great! The valve references made me chuckle. :)
Very nice, this seems like a great idea for a game! I always enjoy seeing tabletop games here. :)
This was a pretty neat concept. Fit the theme very well, and the puzzles had a nice progression of difficulty. Some music would have been nice, but still a solid entry.
That was very meta. I enjoyed this :)
The art style of this was quite nice, I enjoyed the enemy death effects in particular. This seems quite polished, good job! :)
That was nice, well done! :)
That was certainly a very brief experience.
The music was very nice, and this game fit the theme very well! Good job! :)
Truly an accurate simulation of kotaku.
Controls were really well tuned, and the game captures the theme well. Well done! :)
I don't mean to sound harsh, but the game is almost impossible to control. Keyboard controls would really make the game far more accessible, as hitting the tiny buttons with the mouse is a gargantuan task in itself. Still, it encapsulates the theme in a very succinct way: well done! :)
That was pretty weird, but some of the text made me laugh. :) Fits the theme really well and controls quite nicely. Well done!
I liked the concept of three people playing, however trying to coordinate three complete strangers is a very tricky proposition. The art was quite nice, and I feel with some more work (possible local co-op?) this could make a very nice post-compo. Good job!
I liked the execution of this, though having to tap the left and right arrows repeatedly to move was a bit weird. The music at the end was really nice, though it was very quiet! Good job! :)
I really liked this entry, the gameplay is pretty deep and the idea behind it is really cool! It took a little while to figure out what I needed to do though. The music was pretty good, and the art helped create that steampunk feeling. Good job!
Wow, the music for this was fantastic! Probably one of the most fun entries I've played so far, very well done! :)
A very fun Shmup, good job! :)
Very interesting concept and interpretation of the theme! Great idea all around. :)
Hey there, sorry you had to play my game without any controls! I've updated the description and website if you want to give it another shot.
I quite liked your game, I was a little unsure of what to do but I got the hang of it in a while. Except for dealing with bombs, I have no idea how to do that. :I Still, I liked your graphics and the concept of the game, as well as the replayability. Good work, keep it up!
That was very surreal indeed, I think you captured the feel of a nightmare scape pretty well? I'd possibly tweak the character's inertia, it feels a little slow just now. The music was a tad odd, but I just assumed that was intentional to fit the theme! :) Again, good job! :)
Very short, but great art and a very nice idea behind the game! I loved the little bit of characterization here and there. :) Good job!
Very funny entry! I thought the jump trajectories were a little sharp, but that's only a small thing. I liked the music and art, good job!
Very nice game, I loved the amount of polish on the graphics and the great mechanics! Keep up the good work. :)
Pretty fun, although most of the ranged enemies are a little too strong!
▶ Game is hard.
Also, I agree with another poster's comment about your music source. It's against the rules to use music created by anyone else in the Jam, sorry.
Interesting puzzle game, I loved the execution. Good job! :)
Interesting, but you've created a difficulty cliff here instead of a curve. ^^ Would be nice if the music didn't restart every time you died, but other than that good job! :)
Hey, good game. I liked the challenge of a divided attention task, but I found you could generate up to 5 or so boxes depending on how fast you could press s for a single box.
Very atmospheric, I loved the music and art style! I really like what you've done here, there are so many nice little touches in the environment and with the characters. Great job, keep it up! :)
Interesting puzzle game, quite tricky at points! Good job.
Kinda tricky, but altogether pretty funny and an interesting idea! Keep up the good work :)
Very interesting and atmospheric, but I couldn't kill those priests for the life of me. Still, fantastic entry!
Great project, I loved the art and music! I ran into a crash on the rooftops though, where I swapped into and out of a guy trapped in a box. Great effort from all involved, keep up the good work!
Great puzzle game, I loved the concept!
I maybe felt a little guilty destroying all those universes.
Loved the Geometry Wars like feel, dodging the shooting stars gets really hectic! Graphics were clean and well done, overall a great effort!
I never had time to write a proper post on the controls, I had to sleep at the time. Gimme a sec.
Okay, done.
Fast paced and fun, great graphics and music! I only really feel that the grapple range should be a bit longer, but I managed to beat it as is. Good job!
Very atmospheric, I loved the puzzle mechanics and music!
Great use of the theme, I thought it was pretty fun too!
Awesome game, great job! The music really reminded me of Link's Awakening, and the camera mechanic was very well thought-out. The art was done very nicely as well, fantastic work folks! Keep up the great work! :)
That was a little weird, but oddly fun. I had no idea why the snowman was hopping around everywhere, but it was pretty funny I guess. It took two or three tries to move the cows and they usually froze anyway. Still, I liked the entry - oddly charming. Keep it up! :)
Really love the tightrope mechanics and music! I had no idea it was procedural until I looked up CGMusic, I'll need to keep that in mind for future dares. I'd have liked if the ropes responded a little to the player, but I assume that's a stencyl limitation more than anything. Your game is full of character as always, and the difficulty curve is great for a game of this length. Keep up the good work! :D
Hi, you just missed me on my game D: I'm going to be playing fairly often, if you want to give it another shot but I'm not on then just try and catch mo on twitter. Thanks for leaving a note and for the preliminary feedback! :)
Game was funny, entertaining and interesting to play. sounds were a /little/ too loud, graphics were a little rough but I thought it was great fun. Keep up the good work! :)
I have no idea what I just played. I turned all those workmen into a paste made of cubes? I'm so lost. A chair was playing music. 10/10
Fantastic interpretation of the theme, could have used some more feedback when you destroy an enemy (explosions maybe?) but apart from that I really enjoyed it.
Quite nice game, animations were a little clunky and the game was too easy overall, but good work! :)
Quite an interesting little puzzle game, although I got stuck on Gold, Silver, Platinum before the game crashed (same error as someone else in the comments). Well thought-out and pretty smart, I enjoyed the core gameplay. I think some way of keeping notes in the game might have been nice, but I suppose that's why we have pen and paper! Overall quite a solid entry - good work! :)
Hey, I really liked having a snowball fight game! :P The graphics were quite nice and the game was pretty fun. I'd have liked a time limit or some invincibility frames: I could knock out anyone I was playing against by getting a full volley of snowballs and waiting until they cornered themselves. Still, great entry, good job and I hope you stream ld games again soon! :)
Hey dude sorry, my server crashed last night while I was asleep. Should work now, drop me a DM on twitter if you need someone to play with! o/
Inventive and funny multiplayer game, I loved the presentation! It was a little too easy to catch an opponent's thrown ball by holding the grab button though, which led to huge stalemates. Art was wonderful, music fit the style and the gameplay was beautiful.
Still, it's everything I dreamed of and more. Now I want REAL RAPTORS for REAL RAPTOR POLO.
Hey, I always love to see visual novels at ludum dare! The art style was a little unusual, but it added to the dirty, post-apocalyptic world. The world building was very well handled and the characters seemed interesting, but the grammar in almost all of the text could have done with some more revision. The music went with the game quite well, good job there. I felt it could have been longer, with maybe some more explanation about Susie (who wandered off into the sunset, I guess), but I understand you were under time constraints. I never really saw how it fit the theme, but I'm not too bothered by that. Good job overall, keep it up! :)
Hey, I really loved the idea behind this game! Being able to choose your dice brought an interesting element of choice into snakes and ladders. My main issues were that money was pretty hard to come by, and that some portions of the board were extremely unforgiving. I liked the very clean art style you chose to go for, I thought that it suited the game nicely! Some music might have been nice, and it'd be cool if the potential locations you could land on didn't flash so much. Overall, a great entry - keep up the good work in future! :)
Hey, I thought your game was really sweet! Very relevant to the time of year, now I'm kinda hungry. :I Some audio would have been nice, but I quite like what you have already - it's actually rather pleasant after the extremely hectic games I've seen so far. Well done, I enjoyed it!
Hi there, I quite liked your game. It... didn't adhere to the theme at all, but that's kinda minor. I really liked the atmosphere you set up, but even after getting all 3 files I still have no idea what happened? It's a bummer that nothing is explained, but you were extremely time limited. :P
The art really blew me away - I loved the attention to detail on the backgrounds, levels and space. The lights were a good help in finding where to go next in some of the more ambiguous parts of the game - I'm glad you thought about that. The splash screens were painted well, your artist is very talented!
I wasn't too sure about the music, but it kind of grew on me. It was a little atonal and it didn't keep to the beat, but I eventually started thinking that it helped the unsettling atmosphere in its own way.
Overall a great effort, I enjoyed the pressure that the time limit imposed - even if some of the objectives weren't exactly obvious. Keep up the good work for the future!
Good work on this! I quite liked the shadow effects on the stick figures, they were very nicely done! I thought it was very easy to win by spamming punches and then throwing a kamehameha, but apart from that it made sense and the AI was quite well programmed. Keep it up in future, kudos!
It was certainly unique, but we all know the t-rex would have eaten that raptor long ago. Anyhoo, interesting take on the theme and a different method of storytelling. Good job! (The inverse kinematic animation was a nice touch!)
Really loved the art style and idea of this game, and with polished presentation like this it was great to play! Well done :)
I really liked that, super short with a wonderful sense of style. Great music, interesting gameplay and polish in almost all aspects. My only gripe was that the animation on the boss sometimes felt a little bit 'off', but I love almost everything else.
Keep up the great work everyone! :)
Hi, enjoyed your game. :) I loved the idea of the past levels being part of the tileset for the next, but it did make the graphics very noisy. :/ The collision was a little unforgiving, but the game wasn't too long so I didn't mind. The music was very nice, and I like the use of Lewis Carroll. Keep up the good work! :)
Particle effects were lovely, game was a little repetitive but pretty solid. I found it odd that the green plasma gave off orange smoke - I often found myself firing red rockets at them! Apart from that, good work.
Interesting dynamic in a multiplayer game, my brother and I found it really hard to actually kill the other monster though, due to the high amount of health packs. Some music would have suited this nicely, but I loved the art style you went for. Always a pleasure to see other multiplayer games, keep up the good work! :)
Holy wow, this is an incredible interpretation of the theme! As a fan of TPP, I really love what you've done for this dare! The balancing is a little funny (1000 gold for armor, yeesh) but apart from that I loved it. Fantastic work! (Also caught the GoT reference with the Innkeep, I think).
Very cool mechanic, really hard at first but great to play with friends. Played with one of the devs (as "Felix"), they were very helpful with teaching the game! Maps are varied, with plenty of shortcuts if you get the hang of the mechanics. Keep up the good work!
Hey, I really liked your use of the theme for this entry! Things got so hectic so quickly, I kinda didn't know what was going on - but the sheer power the character has by the ended just added to the quirkiness I felt. :)
I felt the music didn't really suit the GBC idea of the game, perhaps a full chip song written in LSDJ might have fit the bill a bit better? Still, that's really just nitpicking on my behalf.
I really loved little touches like particle effects appearing //behind// the screen, they helped add to the polish of the game itself.
I really liked this, keep up the good work folks! :D
Fantastic artwork, great music. There wasn't really all that much game, but it had a nice story and atmosphere for what it was. Keep it up! :)
Hi, quite a cool multiplayer game! No end screen triggered while I was playing - but apart from that I thought it was pretty good. Loved the art!
Very funny and well-polished GTA-like, loved the graphics, music and gameplay! I think the only thing I didn't like is that the cop cars looked as if they could shoot through buildings at me, which was a bit weird really. Fantastic work overall, keep it up!
I successfully summoned Satan/Santa! Very stylish puzzle game, a little short but pretty creative. Loved the animations on demonic santa, and the choice of audio fit the mood well. Fantastic work!
Good game, very challenging. I liked the overall vibe, the graphics and lo-fi sounds went well together. My only main gripes were that the controls felt a little imprecise and that swapping randomly between levels when you had one door left was soul-draining. Still, fantastic in almost all aspects. Keep it up!
Fantastic visual design, madcap antics and great music make this a joy to play. The only thing that really bothered me was the mixing of fonts and the difficulty of actually playing the game - it took some time to learn which parts did what, but often at the cost of a game over. I laughed at all the newspapers, so you're doing something right there. :P
Good job everyone, keep it up!
Hey, I really liked your entry! I really liked the blending of 2D isometric with 3D models and the art style you went for, it looks really neat! The part I didn't like about the isometric world was the directions snapped to diagonals and movements made one tile at a time - I think Bastion's control scheme is a good example of controls done right in this kind of game. I really disliked being stunned when hit, it meant there were a lot of situations which resulted in certain death (e.g. an enemy landing on top of you); I'm glad there was little penalty for death though! The music was simple and fit the theme well, I liked it overall. It took a little bit to get used to entering and exiting on the same side of the screen, but I thought that was a great interpretation of the theme. I did find the secret room, shame there was no proper ending when you collected all the trinkets but I had fun along the way. :)
Great work folks, keep it up and good luck!
Hey, I thought this was pretty cool. I feel like I'm missing something though, the game kinda just randomly ended and weird diamonds appeared. I think it could be pretty good with a little more work; good job so far! :)
I loved the visuals - they reminded me of Manic Miner and Jet Set Willy with the block colours on a simulated CRT! :P Game was very short, but that's understandable. Good job! :)
Interesting entry, quite cool to see a fire emblem-like for LD! I found it really difficult to tell which units were mine - the only one which really stood out was the girl, everyone else was just grey. I quite liked the implementation of the movement mechanics and terrain system, as well as the chess inspired-design. I felt it was quite tedious waiting for the CPU to move its 50 or so units across the board since it took longer than my own turn. Overall a pretty good entry, keep it up!
Challenging, expansive and interesting - I'm amazed you pulled off so much in so little time! The audio helped to build up the rather ominous atmosphere, and clever use of a limited tone palette reinforced the sombre mood. I was very impressed with how much detail you got into your tileset with so few colours - well done! The fish-eye shader was a pretty good idea, although it was a little disorientating at first. The only real issue I had when playing the game was that one of the walls which shot spikes seemed to be pretty deadly even when there weren't spikes - I got around this by jumping over the wall so I never touched its right side. Fantastic work - keep it up! :)
I really liked the idea, and the graphics were kinda nice. No audio though, which is a real shame! :( I liked the idea for the game mechanics - they were very original!
Maybe next time, try and have your download a little smaller. I wasn't expecting this to take a full 784 MB on my hard drive :(
Quite possibly the only game where I've ever fought dubstep snowmen. I'm not sure what to make of that really...
I thought the game was really polished and pretty fun, the screen shake added to the chaos very nicely. The graphics were done quite well, the tank explosion was pretty cool I've gotta admit! Maybe powerups would have been nice in a scoring top-down shooter like this? Nice work, keep it up! :D
Nice and simple game mechanics combined with quite nice music - I enjoyed it! I felt that you gave too much time to play around in the levels, with very little to actually oppose players. Still, good work; keep it up! :)
Hey, I really like the idea for this game - it's pretty awesome for the 72-hr limit! I kinda ran into a bug where the game permanently paused on day 19 for me - before that I had no customers for a week while some messages stayed up on the screen. I really liked the choice of music and the level of interaction the game allowed for, even if everyone was just a neat little coloured cube. :)
Shame I ran into a bug, but I quite liked everything else - I don't know if I'd have changed my opinion by the time I'd paid off all $200,000 though. :I Great game, good choice of music - keep it up!
Fairly interesting take on football, I thought it was pretty neat. Not much to it, but pretty solid for 48 hours! Keep up the good work!
(Unrelated to the game, you may wish to cleanup the instructions text a little. It's really hard right now to gather the relevant information from one big paragraph. Just something to keep in mind for the future!)
Very well-polished, love the art! No music, which is a shame. I felt a lot of the "difficulty" could easily be avoided if you put some more checkpoints around - particularly in the bottom section, where the unavoidable laser guy ruins your day after the amount of tries it took to get that far. I think an element of wall stickiness would make wall-jumps more enjoyable; as it is it's too easy to activate a double jump by mistake and ruin your progress. Still, fantastic entry otherwise: love the graphic style and I enjoyed the timelapse vid that sent me here. Kudos!
Very interesting idea, but a little cumbersome in execution. I quite liked the scoring mechanics, but I found that trying to manage everything at once was quite tricky! I'd love to see a post-compo version in future, keep it up! :)
Very polished, challenging and well-designed puzzler game. The graphic design is wonderfully clean and well thought out, and conveys all the information the player could need. The music is very nice, but gets a little tiring after a while. Great job overall everyone, keep it up! :)
A-maze-ing entry. Puns aside, I wasn't really sure how it fit the theme, but it seemed okay enough. Some audio and maybe decorations in the map might have been nice - there was no compelling reason to ever look up from the map. I wonder what else you could do with it; surprise us! Keep it up. :)
Running away from all your problems is always a fine solution. I quite liked the hand-drawn graphics and animations, they made the game feel quite lively. Some audio would have helped, but apart from that I thought this was quite a nice entry. Kudos, keep it up! :)
Hi there, I'm so sorry you found my game while I was getting the servers online again! I'm gonna play pretty often, so if I'm not on just try and catch me on twitter (@Mach60KAS). Thanks for the patience! :)
I'm gonna be having nightmares about elves for the next week. I was surprised that the elves couldn't hurt me, is Santa a ghost who has yet to move on? I fear for Christmas.
Anyhow pretty good effort - no crazy bugs though a win condition would have been nice. Keep it up!
Hi there, pulled off a score of 273! I was a little slow figuring what needed to be done, but it made sense eventually. :)
I really loved the clean sense of design, the colour combinations worked well and you made it look very pure.
The little "pop" whenever you got a card was nice, but I feel the game lacked character. I think I've just been completely spoiled by Threes, though... :I
Still, fantastic effort, kudos and keep up the great work!
Great fun to play with friends, tested with my brother. Very easy to grasp the controls, and fantastic music to boot. Great job!
Game was pretty nice! :) Only things that bothered me were the mixed pixel sizes and the ability to sometimes double or triple jump, which was kinda funny really :P I liked the AI you wrote, it was pretty robust! Good job, keep it up! :)
Amazing game, fantastic way to use the theme!
I quite liked that all 3 vision modes had plenty of use (although I only found the use of MGNI after I fell to my death...).
The visuals were a fantastic use of shaders to colour and shape the world in interesting ways - it was very well thought out!
The audio created a fantastic atmosphere - really captured the feeling of loneliness.
I suppose my only real complaint is that it's quite easy to get lost (although I suppose that's the idea).
Fantastic work everyone, keep it up! :D
Hey, good work! I kinda jumped right in first time, but the game made a little more sense when I came back and read the description. Controlling the ball never made much sense to me after multiple playthroughs I'm afraid, but jumping super high from time to time was always a nice surprise. My only real complaint is that the audio was a little too exciting for me - it's usually very hard to get right! Anyhow great work, keep it up!
Very funny and charming entry, now I know to fear the bad luck rock. A bit short, but I did really enjoy what I played. I wasn't too sure how it fit the theme, however. Good work!
Hi there, I'm so sorry you found my game while I was getting the servers online again! I'm gonna play pretty often, so if I'm not on just try and catch me on twitter (@Mach60KAS). Thanks for the patience! :)
Hi, I thought the concept of your game was a really interesting take on the theme! I had a lot of trouble working out what to do, but when I watched the walkthrough the idea made a lot more sense.
The graphics were quite nice, I liked the little touches on things like the snow, though I agree that it could have been randomised a little better.
The way the characters spoke was certainly... interesting? Although I thought it helped make the game a little more off beat and wacky - probably what I'd call a good thing! :P
Overall good job, keep up the good work!
Hi, interesting game! I liked the rotating well idea, though I felt that eventually there's so much on screen that you can't tell what you're doing! :/ I liked the graphics and little touches like the screen-shake, they really helped the presentation. I wasn't a big fan of the music, which was really quite atonal and distracting... Overall a solid effort though. Keep up the good work! :)
Hi, loved your entry! Although there was no audio apart from the white noise, I thought it suited the sense of isolation super well. The graphics and animation went really well together, they really made the game shine. I got ending 3 first time round, boy was I freaked! Took me ages to figure out how to get ending 1, until you mentioned that there weren't any happy endings :P My only real complaint was that having to play through all the same stuff again to hunt for that last ending was kinda tedious. Fantastic work, keep it up!
Why did the place explode? I am so confused. I thought it was quite a neat idea, but I thought the collision made trying to play it quite cumbersome - my xenomorphs kept getting caught on stuff, and taking corpses back to a heat zone was always way too tricky. Still, I liked the game - keep it up! :)
Hi folks, thanks so much for all the feedback!
* @asobitech, I agree - there's not much to do without other players. I might work in some solo content in a post-compo to reduce the reliance on multiplayer.
* @Hempuli Yeah, I threw them together in sfxr in the last hour or so while trying to get the UI in an acceptable state - so they're far from the best they could be. The controls seem to be a common issue, I'll definitely remap them if I do a post-compo. Thanks!
* @alvarop I definitely agree with the controls, I wasn't thinking straight at the time! P: The characters were drawn //very// late-stage into the process, and character art and animation are NOT my strong suit.
* @RHY3756547 I call it my patented "Oh god I have 2 hours, no UI and Adobe Fireworks" approach. The main focus of a post-compo would be completely redoing the art into something not generic and hodge-podge. Thanks, glad you found it fun though!
* @01rafael I aim to be a comedian one day. Aww, what didn't you like about the gameplay? :( Glad you liked the overall chaos of the game though!
* @cxsquared Thanks very much! :')
* @monkeedude1212 My apologies, I'd put myself into a situation where the only feasible solution was to get the fixes in. I've given full disclosure of all the changes I've made thus far, and I'd thought that they'd be fine since the gameplay remained unaltered. I agree with the controls, maybe mapping to the FPS paradigm would be a way better approach in a post-compo. The idea of a downside to firing is interesting, I hadn't considered it before!
* @AdventureIslands Thanks a lot! I agree, @RHY3756547 brought that up in conversation after a couple of rounds played - I'd like to increase the hitbox in future. @monkeedud1212's idea would alleviate the problem of being fired upon constantly - I think players need a break from the chaos, giving them a little time to aim a strike! Again, I fully agree on the issue of controls. Thanks again. :)
If you have any further feedback, don't hesitate to post!
Hi again, thanks so much for playing everyone!
@ilokimo Thank you very much! Yeah, it's mental right now for pacing, I'm intending on making the player sprites way bigger in the future - should make it way easier to see what you're doing.
@edve98 That's what I was going for, though I never considered what it'd be like with that many people...
@OctoTeam The pace is intentional, but I think trying to combine the pace with shooting very small targets was maybe not the best idea on my part. I'll be thinking about ways to tweak this. Thanks! :')
@Snicklodocus Oh dear, that's not intentional at all! The scripts only add up to a megabyte or so with very little audio. It might have been a server connection bug - occasionally the "Map" name packet disappears somewhere, giving you a black screen until the next round. Thanks again! :)
@Xanjos I'm glad you liked it! Yeah, the controls issue is pretty big - remapping it will have a high priority in future.
@ramoncb Thanks! Yeah, the control placement is a little bit weird, but what's done is done (for now, at least). Aww, cheers!
Very fun entry, fitting music and great multiplayer implementation - fantastic job!
Interesting game, though I think "realistic owl physics" might not be the best descriptor. :I Graphics were nice, I liked the reflections! I recommend toning down the hurricane a little, though - it's hard enough trying to catch the fish, let alone not becoming red paste on the cliffside. Still, great effort; keep it up!
Quite enjoyed that, it was very atmospheric! I don't speak any french, so I feel the poem was a little lost on me but I really liked the mechanic. Was the buzzing sound in the background intentional? I found it a little odd.
Probably the funniest game I've ever seen at a ludum dare - Billy's life just seemed like utter chaos in the best possible way. The comedic art style and voice acting completely sealed the deal for me, and Billy's crush reminded me so much of Lumpy Space Princess that I had to laugh. Picking hard mode was maybe not the best decision, but I still got a happy ending! Keep up the good work, that was a fantastic entry! :)
Absolutely loved the game's art style and music - it's very fitting and well-produced! The mechanic took one or two tries to get the hang of; but once you get it, it works very well. It's clear to see I have a lot of practice to do between now and the next ludum dare if this only took you 72 hours - awesome work! :D
Very atmospheric and old-school adventure. I loved the use of shaders to emulate low colour depth! It's not often that you see games like this entered into Ludum Dare - and I think it's a genre that sadly gets passed over too often. While the audio added quite a lot to the ambience of the game, the low drone can get a little fatiguing after a while (say, if you die to one of the later monsters and have to play from the beginning).
Fantastic work, can't wait to see what you make next! :)
Challenging and very interesting - loved the amount of polish you've put into the presentation! It's very hard to keep tabs on how powerful each unit you have is (since you need to worry more about spawning monsters constantly), but apart from that I loved it! Keep it up! :)
Very immersive and interesting, you told the story quite well! I was confused how my choices affected things though - I thought I was being sympathetic to the factions but I was apparently backstabbing them? Still, wonderfully presented and a fantastic entry. Keep it up! :)
Quite a nice interactive fiction piece, the humorous presentation brought it all together! The only real issue I have is that it all felt very slow - but I'm sure this is necessary to stop clips running into one another mid-sentence. Great work, keep it up!
Hey, this game was pretty nifty! It was quite difficult to figure out what was going on at first, but it got a little better after playing a few times. The art was very well done, I love all the little flairs and animated pieces - they make it come alive! The conditions for death and teleport panels still confuse me. The camera work was my only real gripe, it jumped around quite violently if the pet ended up on the other side of the screen (but I know this is just a matter of fine tuning, you;ll get it right!)
Keep it up!
Rather silly take on crossy road - I really liked what you guys have done here! Graphics match the original well and the music is nice and spooky. Well done! :)
Fantastic entry - a well thought out rhythm game with an amazing western feel. I absolutely loved the music and lo-fi art style! My only issue is that the bandits seem to stop doing anything sometimes. Great job, keep it up! :)
Hey, thanks for trying to play my game! I have a primitive events system working now that spams my computer with noise whenever a connection occurs, so if you want to try and play then give me a time and I'll try and have myself or someone I know looking out for it!
Thanks again! :)
Fantastic use of the theme, pretty fun to beat your enemies with malformed haikus at the start! Graphics were nice too, my only real issue was that "Reroll" costing health wasn't really explained. Good work, keep it up! :)
Hi there, really liked your game! You present it very nicely, and although it's way too short it's very well made. The core mechanic is very nicely handled - walls breaking down like that is quite striking! I'm a little upset that you used someone else's music without opting out of the category - that's really not in the spirit of the competition. Regardless, great work - and be a bit more careful next time.
Visually slick and challenging with great music too! Gets quite tricky later on, I really liked the mechanic's simplicity - it reminded me a lot of rhythm games (DDR/FFR). Great work, keep it up!
Thanks for the feedback so far!
@trappytrap92: Thanks so much, I had intended to tweak the numbers properly but before I knew it I was at the 72hr mark. :( Glad you enjoyed it, though!
@kabutakogames: That sucks, glad you liked the look though! :)
@nassi: Hey, I was playing with you as your ghost. That was pretty impressive! Communication was a big part of my original design, with alt-clicks to say "Look Here!" and either a chat wheel or a direct chat for the rest. I ran out of time long before I could have had any of those written I'm afraid, but the lack of communication is sorely felt! The slowdown is a compounding of phaser, network code and my own mistakes at high load with so many sprites spawned at once. It used to be way worse, and truth be told I didn't expect players to make it so far in! Thanks again for the comments!
@nassi: Yep, players are assigned a random state by the server when a lobby is generated. It seemed the fairest way to do it without putting in a screen to choose your character or select a lobby - but it's a pretty harsh workaround.
Crazy silly fun - so chaotic! The graphics were pretty nice overall and the music added to the energy of the game. Phoebe was the best animal naturally! Keep it up, this is awesome!
Nice WarioWare style entry - I like the rapid fire pace, even if it does become unbearably fast pretty quickly. The music was pretty cutesy and playful, I really liked how it added to the game's charm. The text was pretty unreadable at 1920x1200 since it was so large - I felt like a deer in headlights trying to parse it! The compo version only really needed scoring, which I see you added for the post compo version. I really quite liked this, well done!
Loved the camouflage mechanic, I found that waiting for burglars to take some gold just before eating them was usually the most effective strategy. The music is dark and gloomy, and I like your art style. Well done!
Pretty funny entry, you have a good sense of humour! I liked graphical touches like scene transitions, and your sprite and tile art served its purpose well enough. I think the game sorely needed some polishing touches like audio throughout, some tuneup of input handling and mechanic tweaks (for instance, aiming was quite a clunky process without mouse control). I quite liked this though, keep it up!
Never before have I been so thoroughly spooked. Strong bones and calcium to you all. Bones/10
Memeposting aside, I have a thing for spooky games - your art and music capture the (jokey) horror theme really well! I didn't think the gameplay itself was all that innovative - but I loved the inclusion of weapon falloffs, accuracy modifiers... it's a lot of detail and work to implement a system like that outside of a competitive FPS. The game was challenging in a pretty good way, and freeing the trapped skeletons made it all worth it. Little touches like milk bottles replenishing health sealed the deal. Great work, fantastically done!
Interesting game - combat reminded me a little of Dwarf Fortress's adventure mode (without any of the complexity). I enjoyed the random lines spoken out of the blue by every NPC (including the cats and sheep), they added some nice humorous touches! The music fit the game as well, but I thought the graphics were a little basic. Good work!
Silly fun, if a little unpolished. Good entry, but the game suffers severe slowdown if you break too many fences and you need to approach certain items from odd angles to break them. Good work, keep it up!
Graphics were wonderful, but I was quite annoyed at the slippery physics. The music fit the old school NES presentation well (and it sounds like you used Famitracker, funnily enough)! I was confused at why half of the treasure chests and jumps were just out of reach, including the one at the end of the second level. Was there a double jump power up I missed or something? Regardless, great entry. Good work!
I found it very difficult to keep find of the pizza delivery locations, but apart from that I really liked your game. There's something adorable about the clumsy protagonist - I can just imagine the poor fellow constantly apologizing to everyone!
Lovely looking doom-style shooter. I loved the art (specifically your choice of palette) and the way you told the story, but the ending felt a little forced. I'm not particularly used to controlling this kind of game, but having strafe and action share a button got me killed once when I was trying to firefight next to a monitor... It got considerably easier when I figured out I could coax monsters into positions where their bullets hit door frames and keep shooting them. The sound effects fit, but I feel some music or ambient noise would have made the game feel much more dramatic and engaging. :P Very solid entry though, keep it up in future!
I had quite a bit of fun, till the humans nuked me anyway. Great game!
Maybe the tourists are really just taking pictures of the cat? It was the real monster anyhow, always getting in my way!
I ended up being photographed like 120-something times by the end - I didn't know exactly how many times since it went off-screen... Good entry!
Very fun and impressive game. Were the hunters meant to kill half of the people for me, though? Seems like they were the real monsters! Loved the graphics work and the villagers' speech - everything is so polished. Great entry, fantastic work!
Loved the visual style this game has - the character and environmental art reminds me of games like the Blackwell series. The music is fantastic at setting the tone - great work! It could have been longer and more connected to the theme, but I really liked this entry. Great work, keep it up! :)
Time consuming and a little confusing, but I think it's a really good idea. Your sprite work (the town and item graphic work in particular) is top notch, all the game really needs is some audio and a bit of a better explanation. :)
Great work!
I'm not sure how to feel about this - I liked the mechanics and I thought that the trippy art style was very interesting, but at the same time I thought most of the game was pretty tedious. The droning, dissonant soundtrack might have worked well in small bursts, but the second level was far too long to have the tortured Bikini Bottom thing going on throughout.
I guess that I feel strongly about this means you've succeeded, in a way? Maybe I just didn't really get it.
Beautiful graphics, good use of the theme and great audio work. The game leaves you feeling both crafty and powerful - working out the best way to crush the opponents is extremely entertaining. The only thing that bothered me was that the web version began to slow down very heavily for armies above 30 skeletons. I had a great time playing this, well done! :D
Took a long time to progress, but the cutesy monster kept me going! :) I like how you've set it up that the humans are the ones destroying their own city while poor Pinky just minds (his/her) own business... The sound effects are well made, and add quite a lot to the game. Well done, I really like this!
Short and sweet, a very nice entry. The cutesy graphics are an odd fit for a game about being the grim reaper, but they're very clean and well drawn. The soundtrack and SFX go very nicely as well, they don't get in the way of the action. The cats' behaviour is a little odd at times, I wasn't sure why they were going full armadillo on me and rolling up into armoured shells. Walking off the left side of the map has interesting effects, I noticed.
Still, fantastic work! keep it up!
Very imaginative and unique idea for a game - I really liked it! The only thing I disliked was that the movement felt a little clunky at times but I got used to it rather quickly. Very nice, well done!
Very pretty, but grows repetitive over time. The transitions when you pick up the golden pips are a little rough sometimes (music sputters, etc). I quite liked this, specifically the increasing layering of the music but there isn't all that much to do once the music is complete. Good work, kudos!
Quite a fun idea, although it gets hard to focus as the stage gets faster. I think the game would look a bit nicer if you increased the draw distance a little - the blue fog is a little annoying. Apart from that, enjoyable entry, well done!
Funniest game I've played from the dare so far, couldn't stop laughing. The comedic timing and voice acting were on point! When I saw you'd made Billy McMath as well, I knew I had to play this, it's excellently done. I feel a little bad for selling out Terry, though...
The crayon on cardboard really completed the experience, and the music was great too. Did you record the audio in a studio? For the most part it sounds incredibly clear!
Excellent work, keep it up!
Very silly and funny, if a little too punishing at times. Good job!
Very tasteful handling of a serious issue (particularly one that I feel very strongly about), the ending in particular was well-planned. Making the player carry out the actions adds to their weight as some other people have mentioned, although I'm a little unsure how I never ended up running out of those scratchcards. My assumption is that the useless paper cards are merely symptomatic of the real issue happening off-screen, since I thought it odd that infinite free scratchcards were bankrupting us. It was presented well on all fronts - musically, graphically and thematically. Very well done, keep it up!
Challenging, beautiful levels and a wide variety of movement mechanics to get around. This is well designed and amazingly executed - I love it! I think some music could push it a bit further though.
I like that you managed to get so many mini-games into your entry, but I think they could be overly long at points (specifically the ATCG game). The graphics were mostly ok, but please don't mix pixel sizes - it creates a very uneven style. I liked the music you wrote for the game, you convey a good kind of tension through it. Overall pretty good, kudos!
Very pure and fast-paced shmup. The connection to the theme seems completely tacked on, but the mechanics are solid. The difficulty ramps up extremely quickly, and the simple and clean graphics ensure that the game still makes sense even when you're vastly outnumbered. Good work, I think all it really needs is a soundtrack to bring out the action!
Unique and fun platforming mechanics - snailing around the place was tricky but very satisfying. It would have been nice if we could become more types of monster, however. The tileset is a little noisy and hard to look at, but elsewhere the graphics are nicely done. Loved the cat room!
Loved the art style and feel of the game. My brother and I couldn't stop laughing at the chaos we'd created in every level; moreso when stray blocks massacred the pigs! Some music would have been nice, but the game itself is completely solid. The way you applied the theme is fab in every way.
Again, the game's graphics and presentation are top notch. Great work!
Visually impressive, atmospheric and rather dense. Some of the puzzles after the "easy ones" are are rather easy, but level 6 was absolutely bonkers compared to the ones that followed. I think the restart button in the last level was broken for me? Regardless, loved the aesthetic and the puzzle mechanic. Fantastic work!
Extremely polished and detailed game - especially for pico8! You've put so much thought and detail into each of the units' function and mechanics, and the UI is extremely well done. My main issue was that "X" is more traditionally cancel than action. Since "Z" and "X" map to "A" and "B" normally, I ended up buying things by accident while trying to cancel out of the shop occasionally. Apart from that all I think this game really needs is some music - the graphics work throughout is amazing (such as the title screen effect) and the game is very well balanced overall. Amazing work!
Graphically stunning, but one of several zombie control games I've seen this dare. The soundtrack is pretty neat, and lines of flavour text from the zombies and hunters make the game funnier all around! :) Great work, keep it up!
Great use of the theme and visually very well handled. Great work!
Loved this game, the music is so odd and whimsical. It actually fits the game super well - and together with the vibrant art it feels like a little complete package of chaos. Well done!
Fantastic art as well as a neat self-awareness and style. Very fun, but the mechanics themselves aren't all that interesting (they are fun though!). Well done!
Like the Oregon Trail, but relevant. Exited the business by filling a speedboat and blowing money I didn't have to get pixel people to Spain on a first come first serve basis. Best I could have done given the circumstances.
Oddly affecting, if a little heavy. The randomized traits for people (Dwarf Fortress style) were a great touch, it made the people I was ferrying oddly relatable in a way. The graphics suited the purpose, but I really didn't like the music I'm afraid. Probably one of the most thoughtful entries, bery well done. Kudos!
I really love the idea behind this game - it's extremely unique! My main issue is how short the compo version is - which is we're all rating. Still, I think the improvements you made to the post compo version (path visualisation, music, levels) are very well handled. Excellent work!
It felt like a good basis for a much larger game. The ending's moral felt a little forced, but I get where you were going with it. I loved the graphics though, good job!
Super interesting concept, but waiting for the day to end after concocting an evil route just takes too long - an important part of puzzle game design is quick feedback (think of how TIS, Spacechem and Trains all have a fast-forward feature).
Very well presented, but a little too short right now and in need of some performance / response tweaks. Good work!
Fairly solid entry. I loved the progression of the character over time, as well as the general feel and ambiance of the game. The pixel art was itself very nice, but I felt like the post processing heavily subtracted from the aesthetic - it felt a little like my screen was covered in vaseline at times! I think the slow pace of the game added to the atmosphere, and you did a great job building that up. Great entry, keep it up in future!
I'm a little underwhelmed that my reward for getting revenge was... nothing. Neat concept though.
Simple and well executed, you've created a fun little gem! I'm sure I'd appreciate it more if I had a mic to play with, but the idea and execution are sound. I was extremely fond of being able to blend into the crowd by keeping my monster quiet - was this intentional? Anyhow, I really liked this entry - great work, and looking forward to seeing your future games!
Charming and funny, I got a little lost once or twice but there's so much to find in the game that I didn't mind all that much. I loved little touches like the walking sounds changing for water and land!
Ending was 10/10.
Very fluid and exciting - almost everything about this game shines. The sound effects included are very satisfying, in addition the music emphasises the stealthy nature of the game very nicely. The 4th level (which I did beat!) was absolute murder - the guards were practically psychic, it felt random whether or not I'd survive. Awesome work, I'd love to see what you make in future!
Fantastic entry, I'm extremely impressed by the graphics
...and music. The gameplay mechanics are very well handled too, my only real issue is that some of the hot tunnels you need to crawl through are almost pixel perfect! An amazing entry, keep it up!
@TheMorfeus Confirming @dalbinblue's findings, New Game plays the ending instantly. Looking forward to playing.
Incredibly difficult, but I live for those dancing frog monster sprites. Sound effects get a little rough to listen to after a while but apart from that I quite liked this. Sadly, I wasn't able to survive all the way to the end.
I was quite fond of the graphics - they're very cute and well made! The main control method of the game (scare the boxes) was a little opaque at first, but I grapsed it quite quickly. The collision system is needing a lot of work I'm afraid, the game routinely crashed on me about 3 or 4 times before I could finish because I just got stuck on the boxes forever. I also managed to scare a box out of the level, which was pretty sweet I guess. Good work so far, keep it up!
I loved the animation work, but from the gifs and whatnot I kinda expected more. Gameplay got a little old pretty fast, but the graphics are fairly stunning so I'm still a fan. Keep it up!
The perception altering goggles reminded me of the concept of the game "Haze" a little. I enjoy seeing RTS entries, but it's quite hard to get across the theme you were going for when people/greenies are reduced to circles. Still, fairly solid entry with some nice graphical touches and voice acting. Well done!
Confusing and odd at first, after messing around I slowly gained a feel for the mechanics. I love discovering things on my own - and that the mechanics stand so strongly made it so much sweeter when it all clicked. I don't see how it relates to the theme, but I love the title music, the ambiance, the graphical style. Very innovative - great work!
Short and sweet, apparently I did well even though it felt like I was having trouble keeping coordinated on the heavy metal level. It had a lot of character and I had fun watching my drummer embrace his inner darkness - Ludum Dare needs more metal and I'm glad you guys made it happen. :P
Great effort, well done!
Good for being made in just 40 minutes.
Game basically froze after I pressed "New Post" one too many times. Oops. I really like what you were trying to do, god knows I hate BuzzFeed and its ilk as much as the next person, but the game's glacial pace really turned me off it I'm afraid.
Fun, cutesy dating sim. I'm concerned for Nadine and the protagonist's relationship though, considering he spent the best part of a week wanting to eat her... I really liked this, although I only managed to get the sweet ending (and eat her on the second day, of course). Great entry, well done! :)
Story is a little cliché, but the spritework, animation and tile designs are all great. The game suffers from a sequence break - by cutting through the tree line, you touch one less set of footprints (as a result the boss doesn't spawn). I managed to find the graves, if that's what you meant by side story? Still, I was quite fond of this entry on the whole. Kudos!
Love the graphics in this game, but the randomised weapon spawns are a bit of a turn off for me. The ingame music is okay, but the death jingle is incredibly loud compared to the rest of the game. Pretty solid entry, keep it up!
Hey, interesting entry! I loved the backstory you created and the Mass Effect style you were going for - it looked quite impressive too. I'm not too keen on the camera perspective you chose: by making it top-down in the way you did you destroy all sense of depth in the scene.
You'll notice games like A Link to the Past and Diablo actually show the world from a 60 degree tilt from the floor or so - this allows players to make more sense of the world by maintaining visual cues (like walls) that they are used to.#
Still, I liked what you were going for with this game. Good job, keep it up!
Quirky little resource management game, although I was a little confused at why I was chewed out at the end despite leaving the Earth at higher health than I found it. Regardless, I think you use the 4-colour palette rather effectively and the music sets the game's gloomy tone well. Good work!
Ridiculous arcade fun, at least until the ending. I swear, the military killed more people than I managed to during my playthrough! Loved everything about this, well done!
Hey, great game! I love seeing networked games in Ludum Dare, and I understand how much work goes into writing and running them.
I really liked the use of the theme to create a nice twist on the game of tag, and items make it quite interesting to play as well. The music was pretty good, and the graphics were quite pleasing.
I'd recommend setting up a monitoring page of some kind that listens into the server, my brother and I have used this in past ludum dares to alert us when players joined our games. It's far less stress than constantly fretting over people who rated your game without playing.
The only thing I'd really change are the box mechanics - I think they'd work well if you placed them underneath the character and then made them solid once you walked off (Bomberman Style) to allow for really cool escapes. Still, a very solid entry. Well done!
I think your sound design needs some work. I turned myself in so I'd never have to hear anyone scream ever again. Apart from that, it was fun in a unique way. Kudos!
I loved the mechanics! I'd rate you highly for Fun and Innovation, but you seem to have disabled them - they're what your game is best at! The graphics are mostly quite nice for the environments, I'm impressed that you got all this done in just 12 hours! Keep it up!
I didn't get the significance of the pun in the title, but the game seemed alright. I'm not much of a fan of resource management games, but I managed to survive for the 40 days. The graphics reminded me (oddly) of Yoshi's Island. Well done!
Graphics are quite nice, but the black and white filter makes objectives and interactive objects etc a little less clear. It took a while to figure out what I was doing, but it's a nifty idea. My only real issue is that with no way to lose in a game like this, the game lacks much reason to aim for a high score. Still, a good effort - keep it up!
Never in all my life have I seen so many puns in one game, I had a ball with this one. I'd have rated you well in all the categories you've opted out of as well. Good job!
My people became unhappy and revolted, so the elder god woke up and killed us all. 10/10
Very well designed and fantastic to look at, I really quite like this entry. I'm not too fond of resource management games on the whole, but I like that you use the framework to show that this type of society is unsustainable. Great work, keep it up!
Very very long, but a nice golf game (even if I never managed to finish it). I made it up to level 13 before I had to tap out. I really like the art direction and music, and the gameplay is pretty solid. The only thing I really dislike is the use of Par as a hard limit, instead of using Par as the guideline and setting a more lax limit - in a few of the levels, it seemed the par equated to perfect play. I don't see too much connection to the theme, but I really like this game nonetheless. Great work!
A little morbid at the end, but creative and funny throughout. The limericks throughout added so much to the tone of the game - I really liked them.
I loved the old-timey setting and presentation, it made your game feel very unique. I thought it odd that Flanders never ran at the end, though. Overall a polished, creative and fun entry. Great work!
The intro to the game was pretty funny. I ran in front of people for a while, and then I suddenly ended with a game over - so I don't really think I got it. Good effort, well done.
Very atmospheric entry, I liked the illustrations in particular. Story was a little too edgy for my liking, and the choices in chapter 3 were a little unintuitive. Still, well produced on the whole - good job!
I only made it to level 3 since people catch you so quickly, but I really liked the game! The art was pretty sweet and the music fit the game nicely. I'd maybe make it so that people couldn't see you while they were turning to give players a little more warning though. You can also get caught just as the level ends, which is harmless but pretty funny. Great work, keep it up!
Absolutely loved the art - you used it in your own way to tell a sombre, wordless story. The monster's sound effects could have used some work, but the main character's laboured breathing at the end made it feel far more tense. The game segments themselves were basic and felt a little rushed. Overall it's short, sweet and it has a nice punch. Well done!
Too easy to play without using the stealth mechanics, I think. The game doesn't really feel all that dynamic or exciting, but I think some of the mechanics are interesting. Keep it up!
Wickedly stylish and intriguing, you told an interesting story in a very cool looking locale. Perhaps no one returns from Red Hollow for a good reason? :P Noticed an odd issue where you could click on the flower seller before he actually appeared. It was a nice length, and the audio suited it well. Very well done, keep it up!
Very unique style of storytelling and visual style. I think you need either better keybinds or to properly capture input - my browser kept trying to add bookmarks whenever I hit ctrl. Apart from that I really loved this game - well done!
I'm a little lost. I like the lovecraftian theme and all, but the gameplay was pretty hard to grasp. It could do with some work, but it's good for a first try. Good luck in future!
I'm not entirely sure what I played through, but it was weird in a good sort of way. I didn't get much out of the resource grind (although I did manage to build a condo for the worm prince) - my strategy basically consisted of sitting on a manor spamming charm and waiting to heal until I was rich. I didn't manage to figure out what the third spell did, apart from make my flying worm change shape I think? It made people run towards me so I could consume though, which worked in my favour. The UI is very well made, I can see you've put a lot of work into getting it just right and it shows off the flavour text well - it doesn't handle resource scores above 999 all that gracefully though. Interesting, if unorthodox entry - good job!
Seemed like a really interesting idea - like a more hands on Dungeon Keeper. Was there some way to get the adventurers to listen to me? They just kept milling around like guinea pigs, refusing to pose. I loved the phone UI idea and the graphics throughout, although I'd consider moving "Turn off" far away from "Invite Adventurer"... Still, great entry - keep it up!
Quite a well made entry, I like how much content you've put in! I felt that the music didn't really fit all that well but the hand-drawn style was unique and quite nice. The battle system seemed hastily added and something of an afterthought, but it's nice to mesh other genres into VNs like that from time to time. Keep it up!
A little easy to cheese since you heal more from eating knights than they can damage you, but overall pretty good for your first LD event. Keep it up!
Interesting game - the graphics are very nice (if a little hard to read at times) and I think you set the scene very well with your art and music. I think that "Call 555-555-555-5555" may just be my favourite quote, I liked humorous touches like that! Did the game finish after the flower puzzle? I tried to enter the lift after that and the game just looped. Still, I liked the dual narrative as a way to subvert and swap the perceived roles of the hunter and monster - and apart from some typos throughout you handled everything very well. Great work, keep it up! ^^
Great music, wasn't expecting the difficulty ramp at the end! I really liked this entry, you've put a lot of work into this and it's crazy fun too. Great job!
"Double-click this passage to edit it."
Apart from that, quite a nice, atmospheric entry. Ending felt a little bit forced, and I'm unsure why the NPCs had health and clothing scores but still pretty good overall. Good work!
Pretty funny take on a real world issue. There's not much to talk about, but since you made the game in 8 hours I'm actually pretty impressed with this. Good work, keep it up!
I love how dynamic and alive the game feels - you've really captured the feeling of being a massive, powerful beast and I think that's an amazing start, What the game vitally needs though is a way to lose as well as either scoring or a win condition. I'm sure if I were the master of a dungeon like this, I'd want to fight foes who could pose a challenge!
I love the visuals and audio you've created for the game, they work so well! Great work guys, I'd love to see this fleshed out!
// SPOILERS AHEAD //
I got angry at the dude that raped my daughter, and that means I beat her? There's one hell of a disconnect between what you've written for the choices and what actually happens.
// END SPOILER //
Apart from that it was mostly well written, but I felt that by the end I kept asking myself which choice you'd arbitrarily made more evil. Well done, kudos.
Interesting start for a project, but right now it doesn't really do all that much I'm afraid. It doesn't seem to implement all of chess's rules or even enforce many of the game mechanics.
Very interesting idea - it's like Trackmania Golf! Some of the art is a bit iffy (the signposts after each level and the tiled fairway texture) but the environmental art is mostly lovely. I love the effort you've put into the game's sound design - the soft thud of the ball on the grass and subtle clink of the ball into the hole feel oddly natural. I think I like the soundtrack most of all though. Great work, keep it up!
(Also, avoid developing for iOS if you can. You want to put your games on a platform where most people can play them and where you're not stuck waiting 2 weeks for Apple to approve. You'll get way more ratings early on in the LD voting period, so it's always crucial to get out there sooner!)
I was pretty blown away - a full soundtrack for a compo entry is insane, considering it took me a good hour to write a couple of bars in pxTone. Are any of the soundtrack project files included? I'd love to learn from them for future events!
Overall, super fun and very well executed, but the graphics were just a little basic. I loved the additional mechanics (armour and wizards), but double armour knights gave me so much trouble! Incredible effort, Well done! :D
Managed to finish with a score of 74100, 9 seconds left on the clock.
Loved the interpretation of the theme, and the music really fit the energetic feel of the game. I'm surprised you fit so much content and graphics into a pico-8 cartridge like that - I'm impressed! The game itself is great fun, although I agree with some others that the ticker text is often a little hard to read.
Awesome entry, loved the humourous tone. Great work!
The quotes on the top and bottom of the screen really made my day, they're all so absurd! Funny in an odd kind of way, and enjoyable even if it was a little basic. Keep it up!
Made it about 6 days in before all the dark lords died, whoops...
Very creative entry, but swapping between monsters and CVs got quite old when you have to click 3 times every time. The sound design and art are fantastic, I think you've done an amazing job pulling all together. Very strong entry, great work! :D
Incredibly silly, if a little basic graphically. I love the sound effects, especially the Unreal style announcer. :P Well done!
Easily the most metal thing I have experienced in all of Ludum Dare. Extremely detailed pixel art, fantastic music and well polished all around. Possibly the only game where I can hear chip, metal and death growls within the same song!
There was some amount of input lag on the Windows version, and I wasn't too comfortable installing anything but it was a better experience than the Web version.
Fantastic effort, probably one of my favourites so far. Keep up the good work! :D
Very challenging at times, but addictive and so much fun! I think it's an interesting application of the theme, and I love the spy aesthetic and artwork. Great job all around! :)
I quite enjoyed this laid-back, atmospheric feel of this game - it reminded me of Wall-E at times!
The graphics reminded me of a lot of the work in the demo scene, particularly the heatwave effects and the beautiful pixel art. The music completed the relaxing feel, I thought it was very well produced. The game could be a little random at times, but my little plant managed to make it in the end! :)
Great work, keep it up in future!
Very inventive puzzle platformer. It took me a little while to figure out that you could control the vine plant, and aside from accidentally making the vines too tall most of the mechanics were good fun to use. It's quite easy to jump out of the level in the last area though using the starting flower, which was a little frustrating but not too bad.
I loved your art style and I felt the music added quite a lot to the game, although some of the sound effects were a little loud/bassy. I like your animations, they add quite a lot to the game's cutesy feel!
Overall a very polished entry, great job! :)
Adorable and varied entry - I loved the music in particular. The game has a very nice feel to it - I can tell you've put a lot of heart and thought into it. A little bit of input lag due to flash, but this wasn't very intensive so it didn't have that much of an effect overall. Very nice work, keep it up - I enjoyed this a lot! :D
Very well designed pinball game! The graphics are effective and the music sets the ambience quite well, all though it's a little basic at times. I'm very fond of how all the entities toggle based on the last flipper pressed - it makes the game quite a bit trickier (in a good way!) and more tactical. Great work, keep it up!
A very well put together entry. I'm a big fan of your art style and variety of character classes for the game; the influences you've mentioned are very visible here! The game is pretty fun, and I like the polish you've put into the visuals in particular.
Unfortunately, there was very little in the way of progression within the game - which is one of the core aspects of games like Risk of Rain. As other people have said, this kind of game isn't well-suited for short game jams. I didn't see too much connection to the theme I'm afraid.
Always nice to see another Cloudkicker fan! I've based your audio score on the sound effects alone in the name of fairness, however. The choice of music did add a lot to the atmosphere - I'm glad to see you put some thought into that aspect.
Quite a nice entry, keep it up and in future try to develop something smaller and more focused! :)
Very lovely game - love the art style and the sea shanty soundtrack. Game is very short and abrupt though, I liked the concept but I don't really feel it was developed enough. I think this would be great if you had the time to work a little bit more on it, keep it up in future!
Fantastic music and a unique story. I wonder about what's living in my own keyboard, now... I loved the bad endings in particular. The gameplay took a little while to figure out, but it made sense in a short time - I never managed to finish the last level, but it was particularly crazy having to juggle dodging lasers and coffee!
5/5 for humour for including the most inventive and least tumblr-friendly plot I've seen all dare.
Visually striking, although it didn't have all that much to do with the theme. I loved the audio and music - I think it did a fantastic job adding to the atmosphere. A little tricky to control, but overall a pleasant experience. Keep it up! :)
I think "continental" is a bit of an understatement.
Ambitious, but a little unclear. There are a few serious usability issues regarding being unable to get rid of a piece after you pick it - I understand that this is a core part of the puzzle mechanic, but perhaps being able to set it aside temporarily might work a little better? I quite liked the game overall though, keep up the good work!
Very interesting application of the theme! I love your use of the 4-colour palette throughout the game, and I think you've done a great job with the music. This is incredible for just 8 hours, I'm extremely impressed. Keep up the great work!
So, I helped two robots find love! :')
I quite liked this game, the aesthetic reminded me a little of Monument Valley! I really enjoyed the core game mechanics - I think there's a lot of room to add further puzzle mechanics if you want to do a post-compo as well. The jazzy music was a nice touch!
Great work, keep it up! :)
@Rex Peppers: You were.
Okay. I really wanted to like this game; the graphics were lovely, I thought you were onto a great concept and the humour was enjoyable at first (if a litlle cringey).
The lack of checkpoints was beyond cruel - dying after being taught how to jump resulted in jumping back to the 2-button puzzle, which was hard enough the first time around! Timing was also extremely difficult after pressing a button or exiting a cutscene - it was frustrating, to say the least.
Regardless, I think the idea was very sound and as I mentioned above I loved the graphics work. Keep it up - try to be a little more forgiving towards your players in future, though!
It took a little while to get started, but once the pace picked up I had a ton of fun! The graphics were a little simple, but they worked for the purpose and I felt the music was great. Good work! :)
Fun and very complex gardening moba-like (maybe we could call the genre "GrOBAs"?). It's a little confusing at first, even when you've read up on the abilities - but the variety of offensive and defensive abilities lead to a lot of diversity and replayability.
I enjoyed the cartoonish and clean graphics a lot, your vector style is executed very well and the Undertale reference was a nice touch. I'd like if the characters' expressions changed from time to time - it'd add quite a bit to the comedy factor! The way the player characters wobble and shake realt made fights feel quite dynamic, it was a nice touch.
The application to the themes was unorthodox in a very unique way - cycling through the ability draft phase was very tense due to the time limit, and actually quite exciting because of that. I know the music is computer generated, but it heavily reminded me of the Pokemon series in a way.
Great effort, keep it up! :)
Interesting game, simple but challenging. I loved your art style for the game, it works very well for a tower defence game like this. I really enjoyed the industry level in particular - using the factories like a wall bought me enough time to complete it after a few attempts. The last level was a little easy to cheese though; by running to the right as soon as you spawn you can farm 25 logs and have enough time (and hearts) to build up the beacon alone. Still, I really enjoyed your entry. Well done! :)
