LD23 — Tiny World

Solar Sailor by vilya 2012-04-25T21:21:00

First attempt: Did not understand anything. Second attempt: Read the instructions, overshot many targets. Third attempt: Decided that the maximum velocity was many times higher than the "maximum steerable velocity" and won. Too bad there's only one level.

Chubeh Bunneh by derrickdool 2012-04-28T21:35:00

I didn't read the objective before I started, but won by accident anyway. I had a good laugh.

Bioclash by gammabeam 2012-04-23T13:56:00

First game I wanted to keep on playing, and will be back to play again.

Laser Coin Planets by mortehu 2012-04-25T08:15:00

@mildmojo: Thanks. I've created a version with the proposed fix.

I've also rearranged some WebGL code in the hope of improving the frame rate on some computers. Note that my computer from 2006 runs this game at 60 fps flat in Chromium.

Laser Coin Planets by mortehu 2012-04-25T21:36:00

@gnx: The darkening means you are taking hits (losing health). It does indeed fade into a game over screen if you take too many hits.

Laser Coin Planets by mortehu 2012-04-26T22:33:00

@mildmojo: I accidentally deleted the fix when I struggled with some CloudFlare caching issue.

The bullets are actually gravitating towards the player, not a planet. Hard to notice, I know. :) Also, their velocities are clamped, so that they are more likely to converge and not end up in an infinite orbit. Consider them heat-seeking missiles, if you like.

Little Knight's Tiny World by jim3wg 2012-04-24T22:37:00

As you said, you forked this game: http://www.jeux.mu/de-aventure/jormungand.html

This violates rule #2: All game code and content must be created within the 48 hours.

Little Knight's Tiny World by jim3wg 2012-04-25T07:46:00

@jim3wg: Base code is not considered game code, and is allowed if it's made available to the community before the competition.

When you decided to submit the game as a 48 hour compo entry instead of jam entry, you also ticked a box saying "I worked solo, created all my code and assets in 48 hours, and have included source".

One Small Planet's Trouble by mastazavr 2012-04-23T13:29:00

I didn't get past the second cannon in 20 attempts.

Slime Buster Micro by brenthamel 2012-04-25T21:53:00

It looked like a fun game, but alas, my projectiles were super slow and didn't seem to affect the baddies.

Single Cycles by mildmojo 2012-04-24T18:20:00

I loved the mechanism for choosing your avatar name. Did not understand how to win. Seemed like the winning strategy was to never let go of the key.

Blobosphere Evolution Zero by mortehu 2012-08-27T17:21:00

@AnnoMundi Thanks for pointing this out! It was a pretty stupid bug: https://github.com/mortehu/ludum-dare-24/commit/62356e7bcfefa38b3dd7f1e41a58f666bcafd263

Blobosphere Evolution Zero by mortehu 2012-09-04T12:32:00

@evilseanbot Yep, I'm using (very cheap) shared hosting, so it happens from time to time that another customer overloads or crashes the computer. CloudFlare hides that only to some extent.

Cellception by DiG 2012-08-27T23:14:00

It doesn't seem like the Kongregate version is Flash? http://m.bitraf.no/~mortehu/skrot/cellception-kongregate.png

Petri Dish - an exercise in Artificial Selection by Jryvn 2012-08-27T11:17:00

Good job on providing a simple mechanism for effecting evolution.

Evo by nseward 2012-08-27T22:44:00

I liked the music a lot, and kept the tab open to keep the music alive after I finished playing. Went back to add this comment later. :)

Micro2Mega by FlashRocks 2012-08-27T22:57:00

Can't play: Page does not load in Chromium. This is the HTML document I get if I fetch the page using curl: http://pastebin.com/rTgZ7G0k

Micro2Mega by FlashRocks 2012-08-27T23:02:00

I didn't think to use the Network Debugger. It's the .js files that are slow to load: some take 15 seconds, others time out.

Master Of Evolution by Daniel Heidemann 2012-08-27T22:49:00

You should probably move the instructions to the top of this page, in case people don't read the comments before they play.

Slime Fighter by brenthamel 2012-08-27T11:08:00

Contrary to your description, this game does not seem to require WebGL. I noticed, because this worked on my old laptop. :)

Evolutionary Chocolatier by davidwparker 2012-08-27T11:35:00

If you added some animations, this would have a better feel to it.

Cytosine by Frozen Fractal 2012-08-27T21:45:00

This was fun, and I played it until I found an unbeatable strategy, involving shooting the buildings I was supposed to defend.
