Ski Free Lunch by 1y1e 2015-08-26T18:36:00
Fun game! Solid graphics, awesome AI movement. I can't imagine how terrifying it must be for those skiers, lol. The sound effects made me jump at first, but grew on me after a while. Nice job!

Fun game! Solid graphics, awesome AI movement. I can't imagine how terrifying it must be for those skiers, lol. The sound effects made me jump at first, but grew on me after a while. Nice job!
Fun game! The difficulty levels seem very steep. It would be nice to have more of a meter to indicate how much longer you have to run for, Theseus making a break for it almost caught me by surprise. Good job nevertheless!
Very fun game. Like everyone else says, good job on level design. All graphics and sound are coherent, everything fits together nicely. It actually took me a little while to figure out how to pick up objects (I was not aware that you had to hold down while on top of the object). The end gets fairly challenging, and I ran into a sound effect spam bug whilst trying to pick up a soldier. The aesthetics of this game are incredible, and the music is unbelievable. This was a mind-blowing entry, I really want to see someone speedrun this! Well done overall!
Fun game, good sound and graphics. The game is pretty fast, and the respawn speed was fairly slow for the rate at which I died. Kudos for the aesthetics! +I also crashed after a while of playing:

Fun game, incredibly difficult to complete. The trailers (for me) tended to roll backwards, meaning it was more about aiming the trailers accurately and letting them roll themselves into the zone. I love the procedural levels, great aesthetic appeal! Solid entry, very well done!
I'm in love with the visuals. The wave effect especially got to me. Sounds get repetitive after a little while, but great job otherwise.
Very addictive puzzle game. The actual puzzles required a little too much pixel-perfect placement of the spouts, some level tweaks might be in order. The graphics are incredible, the audio is flawless and the concept itself is awesome. I played this entry for way longer than I should have, lol. Great job!
Fun entry, I love the style. Collision was a little questionable at times, same with your jump height. It wasn't very clear at first how to switch states/use abilities. Some audio would have gone a long way. That said, this was a very enjoyable entry, keep it up!
Holy &$%# those shaders! Like, seriously, they are beautiful. I love the firefly effects, this game is gorgeous. The audio fits as well, this game has a really great aesthetic/mood. The collisions were at times a little funny, but I think the graphical quality and story makes up for that. Very, VERY well done!
Fun game! I enjoyed the fact that you had to hit the ball perfectly so as not to bounce it back onto your side. Neat powerups. Good job!
Very, VERY solid entry. The graphics were incredible, and the audio fit nicely. In my personal opinion, the enemy trucks/helicopters should have had slightly less health, I found myself frequently shooting at them from the edge of the screen to try to avoid attacks. In all honesty, this is one of the most polished entries I've seen this jam. I would love to see more of this. Well done!
Fun game! I really enjoyed the sound and graphics. The game was very well balanced, especially towards the end. My only gripe is the camera movement, which made things slightly more tricky to grab. Overall very, very polished entry, I can see this working very well on a mobile device or touch screen. Nice job!
Difficult entry! I found the ability to adjust speed a little strange for an auto-scroller, I could use a little more time to get used to the controls. The sprites and animations are incredible, and the music is outstanding (5/5 in both categories). Occasionally the response time on jumping felt slightly slow, you might want to look at that. Overall the entry felt polished, I would love to see this as a mobile game! Great job!
Fun little web game! 5/5 for humor, some of the comments actually made me laugh out loud. The ASCII art was awesome, and the sound effects were a nice touch. Very enjoyable entry, I played through several times to get all the endings. Nice job!
Nicely done. Like the graphics and the view style (camera in front and on the ground). Only thing that I might change is maybe slow down the increase in zeppelins a little bit: the difficult ramps up a little bit too fast IMO. Very fun though, gives me memories from when I was a kid learning how to type.
Fun entry, it would be nice if there was a little bit more challenge, the difficulty never really stepped up enough for my massive waves of units to be dented. I like the visual style, everything seems coherent and thought out. There were a couple points where the camera would draw the walls clipped in half, probably due to a render bug. The audio is fantastic. Overall solid entry, I would love to see this taken to the next level!
Interesting idea and way of implementing it. The sounds did get a bit annoying. Nice job on humor with the title and win screen (didn't see the lose screen). Well done!
Love the idea, well done there. I'm glad the rapping stopped after a while (no offense). Graphically, the characters were great, but the enemies and backgrounds didn't quite match up (Like, MS paint vs. pixel art). Overall, the idea and theme was incredibly funny: gave me quite a laugh.
Fun entry, VERY pretty. The aesthetic works very nicely, and overall makes the game feel very polished. Impressive amount of content for a compo entry. The audio feels complete and helps with the overall retro feel. Nice job!
Nice game! Like the other comments say, not all that original, but certainly well executed. It would be nice if the hit box to buy the next teir was a little bigger, it took me a while to discover that you had to click the coins to unlock. Graphics are good, audio is excellent. Good entry overall!
Fun game! I love how you can share your shadows, I created the Unity logo. The object requirement isn't really all that helpful, especially if you just want to design something detailed. I restarted the game a couple of times so I didn't have to include the dinosaur in the shadow. I love this concept, 5/5 for innovation. Very well done, I would love to see more of this! Nice job!
Fun game! Clean graphics, decent sound. I love the idea of commanding monsters to jump over other monsters/enemies. Nice job overall!
Fun game! I beat it on the second try, mostly by accident. The graphics are minimal and get the job done, I really enjoy the smooth card movement (even enough to give you graphical credit for it, had I been able to). I especially love the indicators that show you the possible moves, it is obvious that you put a lot of time and effort into general gameplay. The audio was decent, it actually reminded me of my previous individual entry from LD 32 (as user Os_Reboot). Overall this was very enjoyable and well-designed game, I'm actually giving this 5/5 in fun for the feel and smoothness. Nice job!
This game is incredible. I felt like the hitboxes for the food were slightly misplaced, but other than that there isn't really much to complain about. The graphics and animations are solid, the audio is excellent (its a shame you guys didn't make it, that would have been another 5/5!). Awesome level design, overall super game. Well done!
Nice entry, I felt at times the sideways movement was slightly too sensitive. The graphics are solid, I can see this game being played on a tablet or phone. Good job!
Fun entry! The jump height didn't always seem constant... some times I would jump far higher than others. Maybe I missed something? I love the bullet time mechanic, the controls in this game are soooooooo smooth. Audio is excellent. Overall the game feels polished, nice work!
First off, this was a fun game. Very cool idea with blowing out the windows, and I loved the humorous notes throughout the game. Only problem that I see is that enemies occasionally clip through walls. Other than that, this was an amazing game: keep it up!
Very fun game, the sound effects made everyone in the room crack up. The acceleration is a bit much and/or the town is fairly crowded. I would have loved to see a race-track style map or similar. Great work!
First off, this game idea is AWESOME. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love how the level select works. Really, the only things I'd improve are the graphics (like you said), but even those were pretty good (liked how the spears were actually thrown), and maybe the controls for combat. Overall, this game is AWESOME.
Interesting mechanic, I've never seen something like that. The quotes when your protectors die really help emphasize the theme. The sound did get annoying after a while. A couple recommendations: maybe give the player a chance to build up more people before the next wave, and maybe do a gradual curve instead of instantly changing the difficulty. Overall, cool idea and generally well implemented.
Interesting entry, a little hard to understand. I couldn't see any of the icons that are shown in the screenshot, probably because of my computer/java versions. If you are looking at doing gamedev with java I'd strongly suggest finding a good library such as LWJGL (what my team uses), JFrames tend to be a little glitchy for graphics. Congrats on trying something new, we hope to see you again in future Ludum Dares!
Fun entry! Surprising amount of content, I love the concept behind this. The movement sounds are a little annoying, but overall this game had a great style and feel to it. Nice job!
Simple game, solid concept. The graphics are minimal, I like the direction-based audio. I would love to see more content, well done!
+1 for a web-based fps. The end made me burst out laughing. Good audio, good graphics, awesome shaders! Well done!
Solid entry, although not much variety. As far as I can tell this is just space bar mashing to the max. It would be nice if there was some other mechanic to help with combat (i.e. being able to jump behind enemies or something). The sprites are good, the game has pretty decent sound. Nice work!
Fun game! Incredible aesthetic, smooth feel. A little complicated at first, but it works out after a while. Another flawless entry!
The music is AWESOME. Seriously, well done. I think I'm just going to just leave the game running in the background for the music. Not much content in the game itself, but the hilarious theme makes up for that. Good entry!
Fun game! Great music, flawless graphics. The contrasts were perfect, everything was very visually appealing. The game gets really tough towards the end, I would have loved to explore more of the building (i.e. other offices). Well done!
Awesome audio. Loved the feel of this game. Turning could be faster, but other than that solid entry!
This entry was very fun. Nice work with the coordinated color palette and particle effects. The hitboxes were a little tough to get used to at first, and some music would have been nice. This game has very good aesthetic feel, I would love to see more of this concept! Well done!
Fun entry! The audio is fantastic, and your sprites are extremely detailed and visually appealing. I wish there were a little bit more animation for the frog, at the moment he seems rather lifeless :P . Aside from that, everything was coherent and felt polished. Nice job, I would love to see more of this!
This game has a very unique and visually appealing graphical style. The sprites and animations look fantastic. Gameplay itself is tricky, some other way to attack would probably help. Overall solid entry, nice work!
Incredibly smooth gameplay. Everything overall felt very polished. Nice audio, good sprites. Well done!
The screen effects in this game are just brilliant. Every little touch makes the game a thousand times better. The sounds made me jump at first, but grew on me after a while. Keep it up!
Fun game! Movement is smooth, but the control layout is a little strange. The dashing is effective, in fact so effective it seems to be better to just flat out run past enemies so you don't risk losing life (I would LOVE to see someone speedrun this). Overall incredible aesthetic feel, you guys did a really good job with graphics. The soundtrack strangely fits, its a shame I can't rate you guys on audio D: . Great work, I would love to see more!
Love the story line, but I would have liked to see more of that in the actual game. The music, while contributing to the humor of the situation, did get somewhat annoying (IMO) after a while. Nice idea and generally well implemented!
Solid entry! I like the music, and low-poly style. There could have been slightly more warning for the larger obstacles, but other than that smooth gameplay. Well done!
Interesting mechanic idea. I ran into a bug with the selection box and mouse clicks being offset: not sure if this is a unity bug or game bug (in fullscreen mode). Nice simplistic art style. Could have used a bit more explanation. Overall, a nice start: with a bit more work it could really be a fun and interesting game.
Really interesting idea: I've watched things like twitch plays dark souls (that worked...) but I've never actually tried playing one. Unfortunately, nobody else was around when I tried it, but playing against myself it seemed at least to have a decent variety of moves (nice idea with charge and release kind of mechanics). A little more graphical work could have made it a lot more engaging, but nice job executing on this kind of idea (definitely not "conventional" by any means) in a jam!
Fun game! Nice aesthetic, awesome sound & control. I wish my team was here so I could try this out with more people, awesome job!
This entry was really fun. It is a shame my team isn't around, I might have to revisit this one with more players ;) . The graphics are awesome, this game has incredible visual appeal. I would suggest a little more balancing on the side of player count/difficulty, this game became very tricky very quickly. Overall well done, this game felt very polished and smooth. 5/5 for fun & graphics.
Nice game! 5/5 humor, incredible graphics. Overall very polished. Can't get enough of those sound effects!
Nice game! I love the graphic style. The spawn rate could have been turned up a little bit, but otherwise well done!
Nice! Awesome graphics (kudos to your artist)! Took a little while to understand, but fun once I got the hang of it!
Nice concept! Fun entry, I wish there was more! I could read this for hours. I wish there was either more interaction (i.e. dragging items around) or less (i.e. give a more clear indication of where you have to click to progress the slides). You really caught my attention when the character broke out of the slide, this idea truly has potential! Solid entry!
Fun idea of a story. The movement was actually pretty well balanced: it was surprisingly hard to get past the butcher sometimes, nice job! Could've used a bit more graphics work in-game (the menu was nice though). Overall, nicely done!
Overall, I love the idea of this game. I felt that the graphics were actually very good. I also agree that the controls were quite weird: I couldn't quite figure out how they worked/were supposed to work. I'd suggest (like others) binding the rotation to keys or to left/right movement of the mouse to rotate: that's what I thought it was initially, but then... it wasn't. I REALLY love this idea though, and would be great to play once I can determine exactly *how* to do so. Look forward to seeing where this goes! (also, I know this wasn't the tone you were going for, but 5/5 in humor for the description :P )
Fun game, SUPER difficult. Some level design would have been nice, or perhaps a longer timer. I actually enjoyed the insane speed at which you are able to jump around, it made the game feel challenging but possible. The sprites were incredible, props to the artist! The movement controls were surprisingly similar to our game. Overall nice job, I would love to see more done with this!
Solid entry! The concept has potential, good job with the graphics and sound effects. For some reason I experienced framerate issues, even with my custom-built gaming pc. Overall fun game, I would love to see this expanded upon. Nice job!
First off, I love the idea. This definitely has the potential to be a great game. I also got the error mentioned before, and generally dislike the fact that you have to install it (that might be a GM thing, I'm not sure). Could've used better instructions/indicators on how to play. The music/sounds and the art was great and the game overall felt quite humorous. Overall, nice job!
Solid entry. The movement was very smooth, the physics felt appropriate and entertaining. The graphics were awesome and felt extremely polished. Nice job on terrain generation! Overall very fun, I would love to see more of this!
Fun game! Awesome music! The controls were a little slow, the turn radius could have been smaller. Pretty tricky at first, but fun once you get the hang of it! +1 for dying by falling off the world
Fun entry, gameplay is very addicting. Excellent job balancing player and enemy movement. At some points I thought collisions were a little iffy, and it wasn't all that obvious when or how you got fury, or when it was going to end. Overall great aesthetic feel, very nice animations and graphical quality. Solid game, I would love to see more of this!
Fun game! I actually enjoyed the controls, I thought movement was one of the best aspects of this game. You did a great job of hindering the player while they are on land; it really makes you feel like a fish out of water (see what I did there? hahaha :P). Good music, nice sound effects. The spikes were a little difficult to aim, and they were more of a distraction than anything (I would randomly shoot them for the one-in-a-million chance of hitting something, simply running into things was much more effective). There was a surprising amount of variety in the textures and different types of creatures, I was very happy to discover you could eat humans. Overall solid entry, great job!
Love the idea, first of all. I wasn't able to actually pick up any cows, for some reason, but I can picture that it would be a lot of fun. The graphics style in this game is amazing, and I love the setting (newspaper, etc.). Very well done (minus my personal unplayability).
Fun entry! The graphic quality is impressive, the background stars really caught me off guard. Like the other comments say, the viewable space vs the speed is a little out of scope and takes some time to get used to. Overall solid entry, one of my favorite so far! Keep it up!
Fun game! Great aesthetic feel, great sound. Not much wrong with this game, it all feels very polished. Well done!
Fun game! Very innovative mechanic. I love the art style, and you did a pretty good job of balancing the game so you always had time to sleep. A little more depth would have been nice, and the progression/movement seemed slightly sluggish at times. Otherwise great job, I would love to see more of this!
Interesting concept. It is pretty cool how the different audio tracks get dropped as you throw different members off the sides. This certainly has potential, good first entry!
Solid entry! I love the terrain shaders/effects. The models are nice, too, although they don't really seem to match the overall style. For some reason the camera lagged behind the player and moved wayyy too slow for the player's speed. Otherwise fun game!
Solid entry! Decent audio, nice particles and visuals. Well done!
There is a surprising amount of flailing limbs in this game. Fun mechanic, it didn't seem like you were able to fail though? Love the art style, would like to see more of this.
Good start! Feels like it is missing some elements to spice up gameplay - maybe more varied enemy spawn, some kind of difficulty curve, etc. Some sound effects would be nice. Good work on the sprites, I enjoy the movement animation for the player. Nice game!
Interesting mechanic! Took a little while to realize what was going on, but after we got the hang of it there was an incredible amount of timing and strategy involved. The Hero moved a little slowly, and it might be nice to have an extra button for the Warlock to spawn an additional ball, at least as the Hero gets closer. Overall well done, fun entry!
@tobbez @yokcos700 @Zerkruemler @MortalWombat
Thanks for the input! I apologize for the uncompressed audio. We didn't even have time to equalize the volumes of the songs as we were working right up until submission hour >_> . We are currently working on a post-jam version that will include:
-Equal volume audio
-Compressed audio
-"Next" button on win screen
-"Skip" button on pause screen
-Fix minor level design flaws
-Fix certain level par balancing issues
@nomand Strange... it seems dropbox.com is down right now. D:
Fun game, audio and style fit well. Some animation would have been nice, and possibly different default keys? Overall feels very polished, nice job!
Fun game. Thanks for the controller support! +1 for derpy player movement
Nice entry! I love the graphics and music, the style seemed to fit together nicely. Movement at times was a little difficult, a smaller hitbox for the player might have helped. There also didn't seem to be much of a difficulty curve, I got swarmed at the beginning and didn't have much time to learn the mechanics. Aside from that the game feels very polished, well done!
Very fun game! Unique mechanic, and very well executed! Jumping is a little tricky at times, and takes some trial and error to get to the correct wall. Overall I enjoyed this entry, 5/5 for fun.
Incredible graphics. The style here is far better than any other jam game I have seen so far. Audio, too. The mood of this game deserves far more than the five star rating I can give it. There did seem to be quite a few graphical glitches, specifically during death. Like everyone else says, the gameplay was lacking. But this is understandable, as I cannot even begin to imagine the amount of work required to create such a unique style. Excellent entry, this is one for the books.
I absolutely love this game. Super, SUPER fun to play. The keybindings could be different, but otherwise great job. +Kudos for funny text! (Have to show the rest of my group this, lol)
Nice entry! I love the music, I wish the explosions were slightly quieter so I could hear it better :P . Graphics were minimalist and appropriate (they remind me of Katamari Damacy). Game play wasn't challenging, it would be nice if there was some consequence for over-using the attack. I love the level design and models, all color schemes fit, the game was very visually appealing. Great job, I would love to see more of this!
Nice! Challenging game, but well put together. Props for the particles and sprites! Keep it up!
Very funny idea (I can relate :) ). VERY nice job with the level progression: it's nice to see a game with a good difficulty curve. The collision could use some work and the walljumping was occasionally annoying. Great job overall, fun game!
The graphics in this game were incredible. I don't really feel like the comments when you kill a friendly contributed to game play, they actually broke the immersive feel. As @Mr. Chocolate Salmon said, the angle takes some getting used to. Aside from that this game is a work of art, and I would love to see more! Very well done!
Fun game, like the style choice. The music and graphics really helped the humor. Not sure if this was an accident or on purpose, but the voice always sounds like "release the kraken" :P (maurice and denice both fit). Could use a bit of rebalancing and more explanation, but very well done overall!
Fun game! Lots of depth, I'm almost certain there were objectives and areas I wasn't able to explore. I love that you are able to decide whether to try to talk to people or eat them. (And to be honest, I wouldn't opt out of the graphics category. This has better graphics than a lot of games I've seen.) Very solid submission, lots of fun to play! Nice job!
Interesting game. I really enjoy the graphical style, and I'd like to see more! Well done!
What a bizarre yet entertaining entry! Very fun, nice take on the theme. Good job!
Very polished, this entry felt very smooth and complete. The sprites and animations are awesome, I love the little text that the crabs leave behind. Nice job with shaders, I found those pretty tricky in XNA. The audio was incredible and fit nicely with the style. Overall impressive entry, nice job!
Very fun entry! The audio and graphics fit nicely, although I feel the roar attack regenerates a little slowly for the rate at which *I* died. The physics are awesome and fit perfectly. Nice job!
Fun game! It would be nice if there were more of a gameplay element to encourage vertical movement, I tended to just sweep across the bottom picking up humans. I like the terrain features, and the sprites were good. A little tricky at first, but pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Overall nice job!
Very fun entry, I loved the movement controls and the locking/chaining mechanic. The aesthetics in this game were awesome, all the animations felt very fluid and clean. There was clearly a lot of time put into sprite work and visual effects. Like the other comments say, some background music would be nice. Overall solid entry!
