Is this actually working ? Genuinely wondering, I type several commands and nothing happened

nickfrushour 2015-08-24 05:55

Please be aware there is a delay for broadcasting

twitch plays type games have always been interesting to me. while i played it there was 1 other person in the room. it seemed both of our actions were going to the same kaiju.

This is pretty sweet. It would be interesting to see the chat take sides. When I played everyone ganged up against the one monster :D

Very cool idea, trying to decide if the delay in broadcasting just makes it slower or more interesting to predict people's moves :P

Some animations would be nice, otherwise the game is pretty cool. Sadly it depends on users and there were only 3 when i tested it, pretty sure it's way funnier when more people play it.
Gothra best waifu.. uhm, monster!

First, good job on making a twitch game in 48 hours as well as taking the risk to make one. Twitch restrictions (such as spamming) also makes it hard to play, and the spam makes it hard to communicate, 2 seperate logs would be nice (for a future possible game).
I think this game would really work as 2 or 4 players standalone game. The fact that you can mess with the opponent's commands is a pretty funny mechanic, as well as getting to choose the side we're gonna fight along with. And these 2 mechanics could be explored in a more complete game.
As it is now, it is clearly unfinished but it would be really nice to see some future updates.
Overall, good job!

Good fun. Gave me all kinds of Twitch-native-gamedev warm fuzzies.

This would probably be more fun if there were more people playing, which is tough (I have a similar problem). Technologically this is an awesome idea and works as far as I can tell. Delay is slightly lame but there's no way around that. Good work!

The twitch broadcast delay is annoying and I really wish you had time to put in animations, but as it stands it's a fun quick game. Nice job taking the twitch interface and making a game out of it. The game itself is pretty standard but the interface is innovative and awesome.

Well done, and thanks for the fun game! Incidentally have you considered linking it to /r/twitchplayspokemon? It seems like they might like it.

Nice concept!

Really cool to see a Twitch game on LD. Good job.

Really interesting idea: I've watched things like twitch plays dark souls (that worked...) but I've never actually tried playing one. Unfortunately, nobody else was around when I tried it, but playing against myself it seemed at least to have a decent variety of moves (nice idea with charge and release kind of mechanics). A little more graphical work could have made it a lot more engaging, but nice job executing on this kind of idea (definitely not "conventional" by any means) in a jam!

Wow this was very innovative, cool idea. I didn't have anybody to play with though...
