Great mood graphics and Audio. The music was really fitting to the scenes. I like your art style also.

Another Ren'py game! It's beautiful. Would've been great to not see the default font, (but only because I've been staring at this font forever.) I adore the art style, and it's a great, if heartbreaking, story. GJ!
Really enjoyed this. Well drawn and written
Wow this is a BIG story for a jam =O Even if it wasn't as interactive as I wanted it to be, it kept me to the end. Good story, great visuals, cool music (even if its integration was somewhat strange). Although, where is the theme ?
I'm not entirely sure how this was a game, the only real choice you had was once in town. That being said I loved the story and the artwork served to enhance the experience. I liked how everything was black and white except the sin which was red. Some constructive criticism would be to have more choices that could potentially change the ending, and I'd like to know what happens to Lucia :/
It is a very pretty game but I can't see how it connects to the theme. I played through the entire thing because I wanted to see how the story turned out.
Yeah, I wanted to put in more choices, but as is I was rushing to just get the main story done in time. I definitely plan to add more content to it once all of us have had time to catch up on sleep!
For those who are asking about how the theme applies, we tried a pretty abstract approach to it. Evolution is the process by which organisms become more fit to their environment. The way we tried to portray it was by illustrating Lucia's coming to terms with the unforgiving nature of the world and growing to function in it, for better or for worse.
This is a lovely take on the whole video game novel concept. My only regret right now is that I'm simply too sleepy to pay the attention it deserves.
swaggy swaggy swag swag
The story is really well written! It pulled me in quickly. Also the art style, colors and music compliment each other very well. Good job!
It looks really great, is well written and has good music. It lacks proper game play, the choices are not really choices.
Really good stuff. HUGE too! Great effort! :)
The main menu art reminds me for Hercules
This is a lot more then a text adventure nicely done!!
Really made me want to play Maurus' side
Well presented and very well written. But i can't really justify this as a game. Very little player involvement and I don't see how this fits in with evolution at all in any way. For all I know you could have worked on this story or months and just submitted it for this competition.
Again, very well done at what it tries to do. But this isn't right for this competition.
I liked this game and I think it fits the theme well.
@AaronGordon: Read my post above on how we interpreted the theme, although it is admittedly a pretty abstract take on evolution. I'm flattered that you think we worked on it before the competition, though! We were all really pushing ourselves to make all the content needed, especially after we spent almost all of the first day just coming up with the story.
Very artistic, i like it :D
Yay! Fellow Ren'py Artists!
Well done. Story/Art/Music really worked well together.
Nice story, but not really that much of an actual game.
Wow, as a die-hard fan of visual novels I have to say that was fantastic! The art was well drawn, the character designs were really cool and the writing was good too.
The change in character personalities over time worked well but it seemed really quite sudden; it'd be great in a longer story where it could be presented a little more subtly. The whole angel-eyes thing reminded me a little of the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, and as a whole the story was very descriptive and immersive. The softer music in the game worked really well, but some of the action pieces would have worked better with a tad more production - all of the music was enjoyable and suited its purpose, however. :) The ending was certainly quite unexpected, and I think the somewhat less than happy ending enhanced the game by setting a very dark tone overall.
If you hadn't guessed from the screeds I've written here, I really liked the game! ;) Great job, and keep up the good work in future!
Thanks much for the kind words! As for the pacing, yeah, it is a little sudden, but I was really rushing to get it finished in time, so I plan to fix it up post-LD.
Ehh.. so much text. I really want to know, what software did you use for the strings? I've been looking for a really good atmospheric string synth for a while, and haven't been able to some up with anything. I'll check back here, so you can post a comment netting me know.
Beautiful music, appealing story. Not much of a game though - more of a digital book with music.
Yeah, graphic novels! And with such beautiful graphics. The black and white art style is amazing.
The typo could have presented a bit nicer. I didn't like that it often was not well to read or occluding the graphics. A box at the bottom of the screen would have done better.
And a bit more choices, that really matter would have been nice. But I never did a graphic novel, can't imagine how complex this would be.
Nice work, though!
This was a great game. The story was really good and pulled you in. Would have loved for a way to fail though, and maybe something a little more to explain the evolution or de-evolution of Lucia's humanity.
While the art style and music are great it took too much automated text before the options came into play.
Very nicely done. I loved the art style. My only complain was the words were a bit difficult to read sometimes (due to a light colored background.
Wow! I love the graphics and music. Nice story.
The introduction is too much long.. after a while i thought that there won't be any choiche to do... But i reach the end, and the storyline was very good. (and the last choice make me think about four different finals, it's true?)
Sorry, I got bored too quickly because of the large amount of texts to read, we want to play!
Very nice writing. Its cool to see more interactive fiction stuff. I just wish there was a little more interactivity towards the beginning and end, but I can understand how that would be difficult to tell the same story.
Congrats on passing the Bechdel test. I think there's only a handfull of games that do.
Great, great job. I really don't like that so many people are being such sticklers on what Evolution games should be about. I mean, isn't it all up to interpretation with such a broad concept?
Anyway, loved the story. And I'm one of those guys who thinks if a single person calls something a game, it's a game.
Digging the graphics and the mood. Great job.
