Great one!
Nice gameplay, played it till the end!
I really like the idea, even though it lacks a little bit feedback (e.g., didn't know if I hit a zombie or not).
Haha, yes, very hard. Could not play more than a few seconds, either. ;)
Nice nonetheless.
Gave me a BSOD. :( (Win 7)
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
@Raspadsistema: You're right that this should be customizable. BTW, I think mouse sensitivity is bad on Mac, do you use one?
@Stalker_23b: You can use the scrollwheel, too. But the controls aren't optimal, I know. I wanted to have it like Portal where the two mouse buttons control a portal each. But then I would have a three button mouse as requirement and I didn't want that.
matthias_zarzecki: Ah, that's why I felt so dizzy when developing it. ;)
I laughed!
Very nice puzzles and story idea! But I really dislike the music and the fact that pressing escape just throws you out of the game.
Interesting gameplay idea, but as DrPetter suggested you should increase the difficulty slowly (bees taking hits, own hitpoints, whatever). The sound could be a little bit more fitting, too.
But I liked the atmosphere (bees in the night, what's not to like?), and the theme was served well. :)
I always liked games with gravity change, and this one is no exception. A shame there is no sound.
Nice, solid gameplay, even though I wished for constant fire! ;) Do you plan to extend it in the jam?
Hey, I love stealth games! Although I wish the AI would be a tiny bit better - after being discovered all you have to do is running behind a wall. After being back to normal guards don't do anything. But of course this way it's good casual stealth gameplay (even killing the guards works fine!), because you don't start right from the beginning after being hitten.
Good work! I'd like to see this explored and made into a more deep game!
Splendid game, good job! Reminds me of an old C64 game ... don't remember the name. :(
The only thing I don't like is that the gray characters don't fit with the 3D background, but the overall presentation is superb!
Would have given more on "Overall" if I wouldn't fall out of the level at the end ... looks broken, sorry.
188.617 seconds, yay!
This one is really great! Just some minor complaints: You use the Axe with X, but it is marked as "(A)xe" - this may be the reason why some people think it doesn't work. Also, the orange @ is nearly invisible on the gray tiles, and at the beginning of a level I have to search it with eagle eyes. This is a bit frustrating.
But altogether a great idea. Please work on it some more, so it isn't just luck if a level is beatable or not. :-)
Oh, and it would be nice if the movement wasn't so slow. It would be cool if you could move faster by holding the key.
Nice game, very solid. But the intro is hideous, perhaps text-only would have been better ... ;)
"Here, you cannot save both of them." - Well, I could! http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10650964/_trash/LD21/devenger.jpg ;-)
One of the best games of LD21 I played so far, good job! (Although it's a bit too hard for me.)
I love this game idea, and I concur - more more more! And then, please, let the magician explain his tricks! ;-)
Nice idea and concept and execution! Really top notch!
But it really is too hard, from the beginning. (Or it isn't too hard but just "too much" - try to reduce the amount of blocks in the first levels, that should help.)
Installer is a big no-no ... and with this kind of gameplay and presentation, you could have learned and used Flash in the 48 hours. ;-)
Perhaps it would be cool if the chips would fly and bounce off the walls, that would be something new.
Really, this is better than VVVVVV!
Solid gameplay and implementation, I like it. Too bad I suck at this kind of games, so I didn't play it through. Also, I don't like respawning enemies ...
A little bit more variety would be nice.
Great game, one of my favorites so far. Good graphics, music, and - of course - gameplay.
Seems like I died too often (I'm bad at platformers) - the game just exited with an error suddenly after I was hit by an enemy. Here is the log:

Nice little game which noone should underestimate.
But I have problems with the bomb too. First, running into the explosion after the Boom shouldn't kill me (it doesn't feel natural). Second, it's sad that you lose the bomb if you die and the bomb was ticking on the floor.
But overall nice work!
Thanks for playing!
@uuav That's why I made two modes ... press "2" and you won't pick up and drop blocks any more. Press "1" and everything is back to normal.
@RandomMOO Yeah, I also had some other / more ideas for the game, but time was too short as I started late with this. I did something with Unity3D, got frustrated, and much later used Flash/Flashdevelop.
Sorry for the bad controls, I worked hard on them and they still are not perfect. :-(
Cool, more feedback! <3 you guys!
@ointment The game was never meant to be a classic platformer. The controls probably feel awkward because you can't accept that they the movement is per-block only (with interpolation for the eye candy).
BTW, this comes from the fact that I planned the game to be a "PixelCraft", where everything really is a pixel. ;)
@daandruff @TheGrieve Thanks!
@Andrew The rabbits have escaped and you have to recapture them!
Well, but it's true. I started Ludum Dare with Unity3D and was frustrated with my project. So saturday evening I opened FlashDevelop without any real plan and started coding. This time I began to create something more fun, but the theme lacked. So I confess it really is tacked later on, sorry.
@JohanAR You're right!
I changed the controls in the Kongregate version, please tell me if you find them to be better now.
@mes Sorry to hear that. Did you try the Kongregate version, too?
@matthias_zarzecki Hey, we should bundle our games and make a "Humble Oh Noes Bundle"!
Yay, more feedback! Thanks to you all! Even though nobody likes the controls ... ;)
@FifiFox: I just was very frustrated with my progress and motivation was pretty low sometimes. I just couldn't write anything even if I had to. Sorry! Also, posting a blog entry always seems a little bit like a timewaster, because a) you lose time you could spend on the game and b) I need extra long because English isn't my native language and I always have to look-up words and so on.
@N0_Named_Guy Yeah, in hindsight level reset wasn't the best idea. The game isn't very punishing overall, so I thought it would be okay I guess.
Cool, I'm a hero!
Somehow I randomly used the buttons and I still beat the game. ;) Perhaps some more conflicts/obstacles/gameplayelements? Also, it would be nice if the teleporter beams would be more visible.
I just couldn't get past one passage, where the only alley was one block high ... I got stuck (jumping didn't help) and had to die. :-(
Other than that, nice style and solid gameplay.
Nice little game, but even it was made in only 11 hours I'd like to see some more stuff (e.g., animated eyes or a moving landscape). Please change the keys for the introduction, I hate having the Num key activated. ;-)
Cool game, I like the general idea very much.
I concur, the trading is a little bit tiresome as they always want things from me I don't have. Also, I traded a battery - I had two of them - with a toothbrush, and suddenly I had two toothbrushes and no battery. This shouldn't happen ...
I didn't craft anything, unfortunately, as all my attempts failed. Are the recipes that silly, or am I that stupid? :-)
Altogether I'm eager to see the Flash version with graphics!
Very good entry, I liked it.
The only bad thing is the sound of the gun. But 5/5 for Theme and Graphics!
Cute little game, I even made it with 20000 gold. ;-)
I liked the boomerang sword, and with some music and a more animated dragon (at least for the fireball - could be good for some visual feedback) and better collision (I ran into the boxes even though I didn't touch them for sure), i.e. polish, this could be a good game for smartphones.
Nice game, although nothing new. The contrast could be better, I'm dying too soon because I can't see stuff. ;-)
I like the general setting though. There are too few games where you play a skeleton on a street. This is something you should explore more!
I think it would have been more than enough of a game if I could see the changes I make as a shapeshifter. :-) Nice music, of course, and the story begins promising.
So don't stop, continue working on it!
Yeah, couldn't play it either, sorry.
Nice idea for a game, but too bad the execution lacks a bit. For instance, having only three lives/tries is really unnecessary for such a game. Especially because you sometimes just can't prevent losing the level because you don't know what the map looks like and inevitably will run into a guard. Who can catch you instantly.
Without this, this could be an outstanding game, really!
Hmm ... the beginning is tedious (registration with captcha) and the animations of the boxes are just timewasting. It doesn't help that the game hasn't any graphics nor story (calling your red box enemy "red box" doesn't help my imagination). Also, it's kind of sad that the labyrinth really is just a maze. Thinking of roguelikes I'd like to see some more interesting room-corridor-constructs.
As a whole there isn't any reason for me to play the game further. Sorry!
That's really cool! A complex, deep and yet complete sandbox game! Great job done here!
The only problem is the high resolution or too small objects. I once had at least 10 souls following my light beam, and I led them all to a Hellrose because I thought it would be the Gate of Hell. ;-) Well, clearly my mistake, but I think setting the contrast a little bit higher and zooming in would help to make this an outstanding game!
Hey, this is a very good idea, congrats!
It's a bit lacking on the tactical side, as you can't see everything from the beginning and getting new food is too random ... but I played it several times, which tells something. (I also beat the "Insane" mode, which wasn't much harder than the other modes.)
The only thing I didn't like was the graphics, or better, the choice of colours. The music is cheap, but sets the atmosphere perfectly ... but the bright ground just doesn't fit. If you would fix that + more interactivity / tactical gameplay, it would become a nice little coffe break game. :-)
Also, don't use "any key" for continuing. Make buttons or make it spacebar-only. I used my volume keys and the game just skipped the intro, which is annoying.
Unity3D does 64 bit .exes?
I'm in a room full of posters and don't know where to go. :(
Thanks for this game experience. :-)
Very complex game, huh. I like the building aspect of it, but the presentation is lacking a bit. There is seldom feedback for my actions (particles! sounds!), and the tiles are not so nice to look at - and there are so many of them ...
Perhaps zooming in a bit would be cool? Having a tutorial is great BTW, although the font was too small.
Nice 3D effect!
The gameplay reminded me of those old handheld electronic games with vacuum fluorescent displays. :)
I played it on Opera ... feels like a good game already, but when I leftclick the player graphics disappear and somehow I'm dead (Distance counter stops). Don't tell me the only thing I can shoot is myself? :)
Very straightforward game, not bad.
But it's a little bit too hard - would be nice if the tanks wouldn't make so many damage, or at least give us some medpacks.
Everything I wanted to say is already in the comments. :P
So, this is too random, of course, but not "good" random like in a color-matching game, but bad random, so that the game punishes you just because of bad luck.
But somehow this is a nice gameplay. I think I would ditch the randomness as a whole and just make levels with different layouts and times spawnings. Of course, this would need some more tidbits, like guards wandering around which you may not knock down. Or so.
Nice start for a full game!
One bug I spotted: You can get the key for the window twice, if you look under the bed again, after opening the window.
Interesting concept, but it severely lacks interaction. Having the player to make choices before the game even starts never is a good design choice, IMHO. Also, I can't see how much I bought the different items before the game starts. It just isn't very rewarding. :(
Other than that, I like the general idea, and somehow the atmosphere.
Hey, you've got a great game here! Too bad it'*s too hard for me, the Checkpoint thing would be awesome. Sound problems here, too.
BTW, I downloaded the source and compiled it myself, sounds is good there. Seems to be a browser thing. Perhaps you should add an index.html?
A mouse trying to escape - a classic! :-)
Technical a little bit wonky (sometimes I see black lines of pixels between the tiles) and graphics could be more interesting (e.g., tiles with textures, especially most on the screen is darkness). Hopefully next Ludum Dare you will have more time to add some more gameplay elements, "Mouse Trap" would have deserved it!
Good game, would be nice of there was a scaling option (in order to have a bigger window). Walking through mazes isn't my thing though, I like rooms and corridors more. :)
Slowing the car down really is unnecessary. Other than that, some visual hints for the exit would be nice.
But nice, a micro GTA ... :-)
The idea of playing a mini game in order to defeat an enemy is nice, but the game itself (Pong) is just too slow. Also, the ugly endboss(?) is unbeatable, more or less. Dunno, I stopped trying, sorry.
First I thought you have to escape the dungeon, but then the ugly guy said something about a princess, so I think you missed the theme. ;)
Fazit: It would have been nice if you had some more polish in it, it just feels incomplete as a whole. Which is said, because I like Dungeon Crawlers. :)
Yay, four games in a row. All of them nothing new, but nicely done. I enjoyed this one. The idea with the exit code is nice, even though I would have done it with more overall story.
Bummer there is no sound!
Couldn't beat it. :(
The idea is great, but sadly I don't see much connection to the theme. :-]
This was the most psychedelic text adventure I ever played. The music didn't work here, too, but I played it in WinAmp.
Hmm, feels more like joke game with advertisement for your EpicWorld site ...
Nonetheless, the collision with walls needs works, but I like how forgiving the game is when you die. Overall it could be much harder, the last level doesn't even have enemies. :-?
BTW, why do I have to enter my name when the protagonist's name is Bob anyway?
This is a good game, well done. Somehow I think it even would be much better with real levels and without endless mode. And I often just cannot rescue the little blue guys, so the "Died" counter doesn't make much sense in this case, as they get constantly respawned. (Ditto for the "Killed".)
Other than that, great achievement, try to make a full game out of it!
Very nice platformer with a twist and a good pace. The graphics could need some improvement (but not much), but the music is cool. I don't think I would have implemented an ending like this, though. ;-)
The game is cool for a first LD entry and you should continue working on it.
Especially because this is a very original idea. The first time I started it (without reading the manual), I thought it's some kind of Tetris/DrMario/etc. kind of game (of course, I didn't know what to do, e.g. that I have to escape through the hole in the north). But after reading the description I saw that there is more to it.
TBH, two things can be improved: 1) The rate the gnomes are shooting from every side is too high, and it destroys the tactical potential the game has. 2) I think it's a little bit strange that the color of the floor defines the color of the next blob. Why didn't you just let the gnomes shoot different colored blobs? Well, of course, this would change the gameplay, so I don't know if you already considered it.
These are my thoughts to it.
Well, too bad you didn't deliver an executable or anything finished. ;-) I like the idea, though.
Oy, that was a tedious experience. At least I played it through! The step sound really is horrible, but I liked the atmospheric music. Graphics are good enough, too.
My Pro-Tipp: If you're going for a long and sometimes boring game experience with many dead-ends, just add a little bit story, e.g. some text fragments here and there and in every blind alley. It makes the game instantly artsy, because people get something for their efforts. Also it wouldn't be hard to implement. :-)
The lack of lighting/shadows makes the game pretty hard. :-/
Very unique gameplay and graphics (I like the idea of using flat polygons for the characters)! I'm not exactly sure what I did right when I chased a rabbit away, but this is just a minor gripe. :)
Currently my favourite game of LD22!
Really great atmosphere. But is there anything other to do than pressing the right arrow key?
Nice idea! The controls felt a little bit awkward, that is all. Also, is there supposed to happen something when you're out of food?
Very nice graphics, but a little bit lacking on the gameplay side. I didn't read the text below first, so I was disappointed that the characters that follow you aren't an actual gameplay element.
The game certainly has atmosphere! :)
Inspiring idea, but unfortunately not my type of gameplay. I prefer to play the "lone hero" instead of trying to be a leader of worlds. :-)
Interesting concept, I'm sure. But somehow it felt like I couldn't do anything relevant. The sound effects are nice, though. ;) Booooooooom.
Perfect atmosphere I gotta say. The setting reminded me of System Shock (2). Not bad!
I couldn't open the door with the room full of questions (which were really well-written, BTW) and didn't know why. Surely it's not because I chose the wrong answers?
Nevertheless, spooooky game, 5/5!
I like it, especially Audio and Mood, but the controls ruin it for me.
Nice and proven concept, nicely done. A little bit too short though.
That game is so sadistic hard, I ragequitted. :(
Really, make your game easier!
Nice thing (especially for 5 hours)! But I'm not particular patient for such gameplay. :)
Woah, normalmaps!
Very atmospheric, indeed. Could be transformed into a great survival horror game!
Crashes after a few seconds, always. (Win7, 64bit)
I had the same problems, not really knowing what's going on is frustrating. Nice achievement overall, though. Also, time goes too fast IMHO.
PS: When I press ESC, it always crashes.
Perfect entry and participant. :)
Really interesting idea, but unfortunately that's about it. The carrying mechanic didn't even work in my case. I liked some of the pixel art. :)
I gave a point for innovation, because sometimes the exit was on the left side of the screen instead of the right side. ...
I don't want to sound like a spoilsport, but please, people, don't bother uploading a game when it isn't much of game and it only was a learning experience. Think of those who want to rate games and have to dig through hundreds of unfinished tutorial projects. Also in this regard: next time, please make it more convenient to play your game (there are tools to create a .exe for LÖVE, i think).
Interesting beginning, but the game unfortunately fails in the further execution. A little bit more polishing would have been nice (like colors - anything would have been better than just grey), and more feedback regarding enemies and winning situation.
Keep on making games, it's a start!
Same old, same old.
After dying too much, I ragequitted. Not very fun, the jumping feels strange, and there probably wasn't much thinking about the theme.
You can do better!
Hahaha. Oh boy. After many too hard platformers, I just love easy games!
Can't download either. Please send me a message when you fix this, so I can change my rating for your game.
Urgh ... this game isn't playable, it's either too fast or I don't know why I can't change the room. :(
Not very motivating to play longer than a minute, sorry ...
You do well on the mood side, and I encourage you to delve deeper in the fields of storytelling, but please give me a game with gameplay. ;)
Yes, very laggy. But the idea is nice, you could be on to something!
I kinda like the style, especially the use of a 3D background for 2D gameplay! The running animation could need some more love and the buildings could be more colourful, but altogether the idea and the sound is neat. :-)
Why don't you make make a post-compo version with bugs fixed? *This* is the real shame here ...
Sorry, I have no idea how to start your game, even with Python 2.7 installed (Win7 here). Please explain. :-P
Unplayable, even with 800 fps "only", even the patched version. :(
Interesting concept IMHO, but the controls regarding the lasers are somewhat awkward.
Hahaha, great idea, very good implementation! 6/5!
Cool idea(s)! Is there any goal?
I liked the pointy tree. :)
PS: It's expected that you provide the source code if you enter the compo.
Haha, nice idea! Is this based on experience? :)
A little bit frustrating, though, as I didn't know if I'm seen or not sometimes. Oh, and it works on Win7 64bit without a problem.
This is a great idea, and executed well. Make a full iOS game or something like this out of it!
Nice platformer, unfortunately nothing new. Big plus on the mood side!
PS, you have to provide your source code. Also, it would be nice if you rate some more games. Only 2 isn't enough.
I think I "played" the game, but I didn't know what I did there. Hmm, does the building do anything? I think I made some music blocks, or so.
Some Mood in here, but overall not very rewarding. No shooting? :-O ;-)
Nice think, but a little bit too random. At least I couldn't find out why I never seemed to catch an electron. Ah well, such is the live of an aggressive atom, I guess. :-)
Interesting enough, it doesn't become dull after quite some time, even though all you do is clicking around. Cool!
The graphics are just awesome!!! Impressive overall look.
The controls worked a bit hard, because in german keyboards the Z is were your Y is :/
What a cute and beautiful game! I liked what you made out of the theme. And the music!!! Wow - highclass soundtrack :D
And your platformer is the first LD 23 game that really gives me the feeling 'I' control and not quirky controls use me.
Uhm, do those lasers do anything?
The joke at the endscreen was nice.
Wow, this is highliy polished! It's just fun to place all the stuff and see the random disasters.Like the game very much!
Wow, very polished platformer game!
The collision had some problems sometimes, getting stuck at an edge e.g.
Nice idea, but I don't really know why I always lose. :-P
GREAT GAME!
BTW, you have to upload the code for the compo version.
Sometimes annoying audio (shooting), but the rest is just teh awesome!
Mh, maybe the controls are too strange or I was too dumb or the game was too hard or I didn't get what this game is about :/
But the graphics and the overall style are awesome!! As I read in the comments more people have this problems. Maybe you can fix those (people XD) problems to make it more accessible.
Woah, why has this game so less ratings?! This game looks simple at the beginning, but the level system adds some interesting mechanics.
The german games blog Superlevel wrote about you btw: http://superlevel.de/spiele/ludum-dare-23-reportage-teil-1-von-7
Awesome...if you like platform games. If not the controles are a bit vague sometimes. But polish + sound outweights that problem.
I don't like rating unfinished projects, but the idea really is good.
Haha, nice idea. But the lag drags the fun out of it. :-(
The jumping was really hard. It would be better to have some platforms first, where the player could train jumping and then the more dangerous parts come by.
OK, the idea is nice, the main char really looks a little bit retarded, this could be a good game, etc.
But why did you even upload it if it's not finished? :-/
Really good entry, and I like the basic idea, very innovative!
Wish there was more control over the humans, though, only five isn't enough, and they get eaten too quickly!
Can't rate, I don't have a smartphone whatsoever.
Very cool, and very playable! The music is great, too.
But those black holes are really nasty. :-(
Very nice style. :-)
IMHO a little bit TOO minimalistic. But I think I beat the game, at least I got out and wasn't trapped any more! \o/
MORE NOT-GAMES PLEASE!
Extrem nice designs...what should I say - it's fun to play!
This is sooo beautiful!
Perfect atmosphere, and polishing one can only dream of! Really cool, 5/5 overall.
Sorry, unplayable. I can't buy much with the small amount of money at the beginning (can't see any prices?), and when I'm finally done, I fight against a "Test" world with no defenses, as my guns always shoot straight forward - never reaching that world.
Just loved this overall game. I just had my little problems with the jumping and landing on the platforms I wanted to. But above this: Great! Those little worlds are awesome to explore!
Very Bennilistic! :-)
The gameplay mechanic with the laser is nice, but bad for my slow brain ...
Who doesn't know this situation...meeting a man you don't know...that was a woman before XD
Sad, that there was not more to ionteract with. Liked the overall game!
Very polished, great job!
I liked the general idea of finding out afterwards, what you did some klicks before quite interesting. Very unique. But after three plays I wish I would have understood more.
The visuals and weather are so beautiful! Although I had to watch the video to know what to do. That's a pity for such a little game.
Reminds me of my entry "Bunnies back into your cage", but you improved some things I didn't solve that smothely (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=srfwlTqbwLs).
Cool SHMUP, very playable and fun, but I don't have a 1080p monitor. So I couldn't enjoy it fully, I suppose. :-P
Also, being microscopic is the exact opposite of "Tiny World" for me, haha.
Interesting ideas, somehow. I rescued the ant! \o/
Simply awesome...I loved this adventure.
Wohoooooo! Nothing more is needed to add here.
The characters are the best thing! Loved your style...kepp this up!
Very creepy, but overall much too dark to see anything ...
Also, is it just me or does the light source really falls through the floor everytime I try to push it? That's why I couldn't play any further, I think, and I really tried more than three times. :-|
Yeah, I wanted to do that, but somehow I lost my testlevel right before submission ... :( Thanks for playing!
In the standalone it really is a textbased format! :-)
I didn't test that with the Mac version though, where it saves the files there ... :-S
@Tifu: Yeah, it's my current version, which I just uploaded at Kongregate!
Thanks everybody!
recursor, I just compressed the text via BZip2 and encoded it with base64. Or anything like that, I don't really understand it fully, but it works, even without plugins in Unity! :-)
Make a level with enemies and a goal and press T! :-)
I liked the idea, but sliding so much after landing makes it abit difficult to stay alive or plant. Very nice graphics, though!
I generally recommend making easier games, especially when there character controller doesn't work perfect like in this game. The less ragequits I have to do, the more stars I give. :-P
Black screen here, too. (Firefox, Win7) I extracted all the files.
Nice minimalistic gameplay.
Very nice, the first LD entry I saw that does the spherical thing pretty well. More feedback, please, perhaps with particles?
Touching story ... :)
Well done, really polished and nice to look at!
A platformer with witty dialogues! :-)
Please change the pick-up sound, it's pretty annoying! But I liked that hitting enemies isn't too punishing, I hate it when I die every step. Keep jamming!
I loved the graphics, neat style!
It get's too hard very fast. Sadly, because it's a fun game!
What a sweet game.
Just wow! What a cute and beautiful game..and clever!!!
Very atmospheric, congratulations. I guess it's too complex to beat it in one round, though, only one of my crewmembers survived. :-|
I dislike platformers a bit, but this game is rad! Even dying is fun! You achieved being dead in this game is lesser frustrating then in other platformer games.
I just got stuck in on place, couldn't get forward/backward.
I love it, though, will play it again!
I didn't get that far...I find platformer always pretty hard, especiaslly when you can just jump in a certain moment.
Nevermind, the entry looks great, the sound is awesome!
Cool entry, although I found it very hard to aim in a meaningful way, and therefore died very quickly. I love walking on planetoids in games! ;-)
Nice graphics style, but I really don't know if I like it when people upload unfinished games. At least just display a textbox when the last enemy is defeated.
The double clicking is kind of counter-intuitive.
It would be cool, if you could give markers for the player to know which planet he greened or which class the planet is.
The space mechanic was a bit wierd at the beginning, but since I started to understand how to use it well (stopping for example) it worked quite well.
Nice idea!

Nice idea! And the music is soo atmospheric!!
Fully animated, has sound, works bugfree, and winning is possible. One of the better Ludum Dare entries so far. :-P
Nice little game, very complete and stable. :-)
The music is a little bit annoying and I don't see the connection to the theme, but otherwise a great game.
I felt like a mad god in this game, haha.
Very cool game, but also very frustrating. And why the time constraint?
Hey, nice idea!
You should use Quaternion.FromToRotation() in order to make a real movement on a sphere, without having to create strange collision spheres at the poles. ;-)
OK, I reached the end, but I don't know if I won or lost. (Probably the latter.) I can't tell because, TBH, this was just too much text presented in a very boring manner.
Otherwise, some very nice ideas here.
Cool, a minimal RTS! I like it the way it is, you shouldn't add too much stuff. :-)
Perhaps different colors for the player bullets / enemy bullets would be nice.
Nice little idea, wish there were more variation in the gameplay.
I concur, the bullet speed is too damn slow. Will the game end when I rescued all 7 billion people? :-P
Nice little game, the feedback could be a little better and the health display larger. Also, I didn't see the screen when I died, probably because it restarted instantly because of holding the key.
W - O - W XD This IS tiny!
Interesting idea.
Wizards ain't have it easy. :-)
Really neat style!
I always loved Sokoban :D
Hahaha...great! I broke with the game several times, but got always back to solve it.
What a satifying end ;) A little bit too much text at the end. But I liked playing it :D Loved the idea.
Yeah, weird is the right word. Cool idea, though.
I just reached a dead end, don't know what to do...sadly.
Totally enjoyed the game. Beautiful graphics and intense kood. Helping the robot was sweet, although I never got this far that he evolves a protection field (red it in the comments).
Cute twin shooter! Somehow some creatures evolved to having only one eye ... o_O
Highly atmospheric game!
I lost and I don't know why. Some deeper instructions would have been nice, or a explanation of what exactly happens on the screen!
Very funny!
This most certainly is a concept worth to expand it more!
Nicely done, congrats. I wish there was more enemy variation, though.
Yeah, no Pan supported. :(
Very nice - love the amount of content!
The biggest loading bar ever :D I liked the astronaut..the anim was so sweet. And the controls for a platformer (jumping) were pretty good, because they often make the biggest problems (after collision detection).
Hope you make more of it!
Hey, very nice! After the mines closed because there were no stones any more, all I did was ramp up my lumberers ... the game is getting slow with too many population though. ;-)
Nonetheless, great accomplishment!
Nice accomplishment, I like the 3D models!
The speed is a little bit too slow for me, is there an option to speed the waves up?
Simple and nice, just the way I like it!
What a strange game! I iked the idea, although I don't get why you play it in the mountains?! ;)
Uhm, interesting concept, but ...
I started it. I died instantly. I restarted it. I landed in a level without any bots?! I restarted it again, and died again within some seconds.
Perhaps adding some kind of health would have been a good idea. It's just too hard now. But the visuals are nice.
Very nice idea!
Fix the character controller / mouse movement, and this will become an interesting game! :)
The friction-less movement really prevented from having fun with this game, sorry.
The song of this game is sooo great!! Totally loved it! Super style and level design. I just wish the stings would be a bit more visible.
Unfinished game is unfinished.
MOAR!
Uhm ... interesting! I don't have any idea what I do and how I do it, but I guess that's how Mother Nature created us, too.
I like the overall idea very much.
Although I often missed feedback. For example, I didn't realise when they eat. ( I fed them with apples, but the floor was just full with apples not eaten). Or if they killed someone? Or which Trolls were mine.
ButI liked the Troll designs very much, not so typical!
Nice beats!
Nice idea, after the hint with the second level I even could play it through!
Haha, well, it's good that the text at the bottom is just "noise" - otherwise it would be annoying, as it's there for atmosphere, not for real information.
Yeah, the Devmania may be out of scope for most people, but then again it's sad that this little convention doesn't get the attention it used to. So why not inviting others to have a look at it?
* text at the top
Strange, I guess Dropbox is the culprit? Did you try Ctrl+F5?
@PickledBrain: You mean only right-clicking works?
@Will Edwards: Wow, thanks for the information!
Nice, reminded me a lot of your protest game
Nice idea!
Love the mood and graphics. Nicely done!
Sorry, didn't remember to look at the score. :(
This rocks! Personally I'd ditch the concept of only 3 lives (never make your LD games too hard), and the need to press X (because there is no reason to not shoot), but otherwise this is a great idea.
I liked the game! Felt like a roguelike (without rooms). Wish the graphics would give a bit more information. I sometimes had to stop the game to look what each colour in the store means. Little symbols would be nice.
Good work!
Very nice game, but couldn't beat level 3? Seemed like a bug.
An atmospheric soundtrack would have been a nice addition.
Nice and humorous little game, although very hard to control.
Very nice, both from a technical point of view and from the mood.
Nice game, but very hard IMHO. :)
I think I liked the first game most, although I needed very long to figure out, how to get in the next place (couldn't identify the doors). Design and graphics fitted best and I love this old style!
The other games felt more ike prototypes. But the idea was great! Loved it!
Yeah, graphic novels! And with such beautiful graphics. The black and white art style is amazing.
The typo could have presented a bit nicer. I didn't like that it often was not well to read or occluding the graphics. A box at the bottom of the screen would have done better.
And a bit more choices, that really matter would have been nice. But I never did a graphic novel, can't imagine how complex this would be.
Nice work, though!
Nice idea! Could need a bit more feedback, and more editing options, though.
Very nice audio and trees.
Make it a Jam game and finish it? Adorable music!
Wow! Great game!
Santa sure is hard to kill.
5/5 for audio! :-) Didn't know what to do after my cookie got eaten by vermins, so hmmmm ... Nice game overall!
3543 destruction points, yay! Strange game, but fun! I like how you get awesome new powers every time.
If it's not finished, don't post it. You don't need it to take part in the mini LDs! ;)
The "previous" thing is genius, I'd like to see that expanded. Otherwise the gameplay is a bit awkward, I would rather make it a twinstick shooter. Nice entry nonetheless!
BTW, don't forget to add the source code. For compo entries, this is mandatory.
Very nice for a first game, I think my first game was "guessing the number". :P Controls could be a little bit better, especially at the slopes. Nonetheless, nice idea!
Awesome idea! Needs a replay function! ;-)
High on the humor rating, because of the funny collision! ;-) Otherwise, nice for a first time - don't stop making games!
Nice entry!
But make the enemies easier, as it is pretty hard to beat the game when they're as powerful as you. Controls are a little bit awkward, as you have to click on something while the character walks.
Nicely done graphics! I especially like the idea with the animated texture for the dragon; I will borrow that idea. ;)
Too bad it's really glitchy, and I get score points when I press R? I wouldn't have used the left mouse button for blowing fire, BTW, because it's the only use of the mouse. This way I tried all keys for more interaction than flying and had to read the instructions afterwards to find out.
Nice entry overall.
Wow, nice one! Two things: 1) You can deactivate the context menu of Unity in the webplayer (search for it in the documentation, it's just a parameter via JavaScript). 2) It was very unclear to me at the beginning which weapon is activated (as there were only two). Highlight the current one with a rectangle or so instead of graying it out.
Really great entry otherwise!
Somehow this is unrateable. Interesting not-game.
Very nice graphics style. Will you finish the game?
Awesome atmosphere, but the controls were a hinderance. I'd like to see something like that with a bigger scope, but with free rotation. I didn't really see a reason to limit the viewport, especially in an adventure game.
Thanks, guys!
@Deril: I uploaded standalone versions, do those work?
@wallmaster: This level needs some ... thinking outside the box ... (hint, hint :P)
@Eniko: You can have a look in the source code? It's not dark magic, just resizing and repositioning the object based on the current camera view, combined with thousands of collision checks.
@SmallDeadGuy: I hope that error is on your side, I never experienced that ... :-/
@bradleypollard: Yeah, the character controller is suboptimal, and not only the jumping needs a lot of work. Every complaint about stucking walls is due to me having no time to do a cool controller. :-/
@Jezzamon: The theme is in it, you just have to play it through to see it! Think of "Looper" ...
Oh, and I had the idea already as a kid, so your friend didn't have the idea before me. :-P
@GeorgeBroussard: You don't have to get to the top in level 3, there's just window. I think you can even use the pins only.
Altogether yeah, you can do more with less, but I thought having some kind of sandbox to play with is kind of fun. That you have certain goals in each level is a bonus, really.
Thank you everyone for the kind words!
Generally I miss a little bit of quality in the execution, though. For example there is no reason why Labels and Buttons look alike (or why the buttons don't have a "hover" state). The houses don't even have a rooftop but are textured with the same window texture at the top.
But overall it's a very relaxing game and I played it through. =)
I didn't quite understand what was happening, but I like the underlying mechanics (making people evil and so on)! Perhaps some more feedback regarding what gains "glory" would be helpful.
Only being able to walk forward is a bummer. :|
The controls were hard to grasp / learn at first, but overall I like the game. :)
Very nice entry, I had fun building my zombie army!
Only gripe for me are the controls, I prefer keyboard for camera movement, for more precision and less random movement.
Hey, I like the idea and concept, very nice. Music's a bit annoying, though. ;)
Amazing pixel art, especially the beast's animations. Colors could be a bit better. Wish there was more and more interesting stuff to do. Which just means, I had fun with the game and would like to have it expanded. :)
Good music! ;-)
The bombs look more like cherries than bombs tho. Would be nice if the landing spot weren't always on the floor, for more diversity.
Somehow I feel this is one of the entries that could be quite fun if it weren't for the much too harsh time limit. So, please add an "easy" mode. :-P
Very cool game, couldn't stop playing until I beat the deadline dragon! ;-) A bit too easy though, but that's a good thing.
I defeated the brain! Cool entry, nice difficulty. The dolphin fight made me laugh. :-)
Super-polished perfectly made little thing! Nothing more to say. Like the fast-paced + puzzle style. Warmly reminds me of the Donkey Kong game for Gameboy.
A great idea! I can't beat level 5 tho. ;-)
Great idea. I love the visuals, although I have no idea what I see exactly. I think I would have preferred an exploration game more than a platformer.
Pressing the left mouse button really destroys the quality of my entry. ;-)
I'm not sure how to play this. ;-)
I love the settings and the characters. Hilarious!
The car controls are shitty, but I guess that's not what the game is about. Hilarious idea!
I'm a bit disappointed, I thought my monitor would explode.
But the idea is great! ;-)
I don't get past the first nom-nom-food part @[email protected]
But I love the idea of using the time constraint for the platforms as well.
Really confusing gameplay, but it seems to be deeper the longer I play it. If you can't display the instructions in the game, at least write it below the SWF. ;-)
The whole presentation is really charming. Would love it would last any longer. Now I feel sad, and can't do anything in the game to stop it.
Interesting art and nice overall execution.
Really, really cool game. I like what you made of the game of life.
The only that irritated me while playing was the camera movement, it's annoying. And some sound and music would be great.
Hah, nice idea! The controls and interface were strange at the beginning, but after a second try I understood it.
At first I was really taken aback by the beauty of the atmosphere, colour and of course the music, which captures everything quite well.
I like the approach you did with this concept, but I think it would have worked out even better if there were any moving objects to show that this world works really slow.
And it takes too much slow walking, to reach the more interesting places.
Anyway, gorgeous!
Excellent entry, very complex and yet easy to play. Although it was a bit hard for me with my Germany keyboard layout, so if you could fix that, that would be great. :-)
I didn't liked the theme either. Let's replace politicians with stick figures! :D
It's like Vine - the Game ;)I like the idea. Although I'm still not sure what you need the large vision view for. Maybe I just never switched because of my German keyboard...A bit more feedback would be nice. A sound or little text animation when you get more viewers.
Haha, Super hilarious game! Getting hit by a satelite is a serious problem astronauts have to face! :D
I just miss some music here, and Ouch!-sounds.
Very cool entry. It's hard, but I had fun playing it!
Wow, very hard and yet addictive. I adore the graphics style!
The idea is really nice! I wish I wouldn't float that much and that the light bulb would be as huge as the character, so I can walk the path blindly.
I didn't get the game at all. Okay, red is, where you can't click to flood the room. But no idea how I could manage to press the water in a special room. And where I see when the agents arrive...and why I could click monitors next to the water monitor to fill a rooms..and when not. @-@
Whatever! The whole idea is great. Love the humor and the idle animations..and little monitors. Great work!!
Very cool, very playable platformer. I like the concept with dying and still continuing the levels, but somehow being able to replay a level in the same run would have been nice.
Nice entry!
Wow, this looks extremely nice! Cool idea to present the progress. Fun use of popular quotes.
I always love to see what people do with randomly generated content. It's also very cool, that the games restarts immediately after falling.
Music or at least a bit ambient mood would be nice. And as jumping is the main gameplay, it could be more rewarding. Like little particles or the boxes moving, when you lend o them.
Very cool concept. I just love it! Nothing more to say here!
Very interesting idea!
I also think this game has a lot of potential. But I miss some kind of feedback, I can't really see, what I do and where I put some of the way points. I also pressed randomly Q and E and survived a few rounds, but there happened nothing. I also put every waypoint in the back of the first building and won every time. ...
The idea is cool. Always wanted to make a stop-motion game like that. Try to finish it!
Oh no! This game triggers my willingness to clan a level completely. I can throw the queen out and her guards XD Great one. Although I have no idea why I throw things out...at all! But yeah, I can throw things out, so that's what I do :D
Super hilarious! I like, that you put personal statements into the game. More developers should do that.
Beautiful and very atmospheric! The sound let me feel like playing some epic adventure I'm going on, until...
I really, really loved the game. Great job! Although I was suspicious because of the graphic style first (sorry, asshole grahic artist attitude). I get goosebumbs when I see the game over screen and how he turns into a critter @-@
Nothing more to say. Cool concept! :D
Moody, neat little game. I SO love the concept. It's klike a participative Let's Play! I just had the feeling that I had less than 10 seconds :( I just walked a bit and time went off. A speed up, if you want to try it again would be very nice. Or at least skip to the last 5.
Interesting Framework. What is it, that you used? I liked the mixture of visual novel and dungeon crawler. And the amount of graphics, backgrounds, enemies! Although the novel was a bit lengthy sometimes. But I liked the weird ideas.
The graphics and the whole idea are really great. I love the little characters.
What I don't get so far is why I have to put the mouse into the '!'-Icon before shooting and when the cross hairs is green and yellow. There is very much around a game, that would be otherwise even more simple and pure.
That face! It scared me! :-O
Really nice idea, you should expand it!
Superb graphics! I was confused about how the game works at first, but got the hang of it quite quickly.
As the game is frustratingly short now, I recommend making a version with a less harsh time limit. ;-)
Thanks a lot for the windows version. The Idea is super-stupid-brilliant. Imagine the whole life of a sprinter works like that m)
Jep, super addictive! A bit more feedback, like splashing or something, when you picked the wrong fish would be nice.
The presentation really caught my eye. But I don't really get, what needs to be done....was what I wanted to write first, but when I read here about rules and "figuring it out" I took the challenge. Super great, little Idea. Wish there would be more levels, with different colours and maybe harder distance between the colours.
Although I couldn't beat it, I had fun!
Hooray for your first game! Keep it going! Interesting what kind of ideas people have :D
Haha! :-)
Awww, this is sooo beautiful. I love flying games. reminds me of floating through the wings in Mario 64. And here comes the shit about came constraints - they don't make most games better. So I have to train my skill to see more of the beautiful landscape ;)
I think the line shader is a bit overdone, but I love how the environment got shaded through the distance.
The concept sounds pretty great. I just had some problems getting orientation in this space station. Due to the lags I often lost the direction I was heading to.
It would be great if the doors you can use have lights, so you needn't try them all, if you lost the orientation. An arrow for the player symbol in the minimap would be great as well.
Great atmosphere. Thrilling!
The bulltes should be a bit bigger or a twin-stick shooting would be better to properly hit the enemies. I also miss some feedback with the dead of the enemies. When they reach you in a bulk, I often shoot longer than necessary, because I didn't saw when they are dead.
To display the timer more prominently would be good, because of its importance!
I walked through that room, back and forth, and suddenly walked through the wall and everything became blue. End of story? ;-)
Fucking great game.
Awesome idea! But we had no idea how to play it - the timelimit makes it very confusing! ;-)
Small suggestion for the control scheme: First player should have Enter as Pick/Throw, so it's nearer to their hand.
@Rick Hoppmann, good find ... good thing small typo bugfixes are still allowed. This will be the last one. ;)
@all: Thanks for the kind words! I hope I can test your games soon, too!
@gre: That's not a bug, you just run out of ammo! I realized now that this situation really is missing some feedback, it should have a sound or so. Ah well, I'll add that in a post-compo version.
@Martin_Monosys, you have to wait 10 seconds near one of the floating devices. Then enemies will start to spawn.
@Oxygamer: Can you elaborate? What is inconvenient?
@nddrylliog: Thanks! Funny enough, the devices you have to activate ARE the "infinite replenishment stations". ;-) But yeah, that needs more explaining. I'm already at working on a multiplayer mode, though I'm not sure if it will work.
Hey, cool entry - nice music too! I like the shop system.
Too bad I had two bugs: Once a kitten was directly spawned inside a seamine, and after I bought something (speed +10%), I suddenly couldn't rescue any more kittens, I just drove through them. :-(
This comment/rating is a little experiment, after I ranted on Twitter how non-anonymous comments make honest feedback/criticsm very hard, because the writer has to fear "revenge" in the form of a bad rating in return. Of course, in an ideal LD world no one would have to fear revenge, but we don't live in an ideal world. ;-)
So, yeah, @nddrylliog dared me to write an honest review now, and just to be extra-clear, here's the disclaimer:
THE AUTHOR HAS GIVEN ME EXPRESS PERMISSION TO BE HARSH.
Overall I like the story idea and the interpretation of the theme. But unfortunately this is presented in an unreadable manner. :-P Sure, the font fits the theme, and for the intro it worked, but for the descriptions I hardly could concentrate on what I read here, especially in combination with the somewhat annoying music (which IMHO doesn't support the setting that well). It also didn't help that the background stories, as interesting as they are, don't explain the pros and cons of every presidential candidate (or just show some stats). Good thing it's very fast to try each of them.
I just wish there would have been more diversity than just the look and shooting pattern (I liked the animated gun of Langdon Cheves!), especially as there seems to be only one single level. Smith Thompson is overpowered while other candidates don't have a chance to destroy everything. This isn't a bad thing, as it would be a chance to sort the candidates by difficulty. I also see a missed chance by the developer to add some kind of progression bar which increases with every presidential candidate who won the war.
On the graphical side: The game is a bit ugly, as it lacks consistency. While the ships are drawn, the tiles of the floor look too geometrical. The floor generally is very bland, adding some details would do it good. Also, some kind of colorcode would help the general look, by choosing just 3 or 4 colors and sticking to them for all art assets, with shadings. There are several tools for choosing a nice colorcode; right now, the game's colors are too bright for me or have too much contrast.
Besides of the explosions, there could be more particle effects, especially when hitting one of the bigger enemies.
The screens for death and victory come very quickly, which isn't satisfying. Add some transitions to celebrate these events! :-) Such animations also help to polish a game; think of screen shaking when getting hit.
Some sounds would have been nice, if only for the explosions. Those can be made very quickly with bfxr or so.
BTW, I rated the game 4/5 on Fun, as I thought it to be pretty playable - in my opinion, it's a start for a good game. It mostly needs more rewards for the player, like neat effects and some kind of progression.
Haha, this reminds me of some German simulation games, like the Landwirtschaftssimulator (Farming Simulator). And I really mowed the lawn completely.
I see now why such games get played - they are, in a sense, very addictive.
And doing some Unity stuff on the laptop after the hard lawn work was kinda rewarding, I dunno why.
Kudos for the cool idea! :-)
Very good audio and mood! Also, I really like your thoughts on the theme.
Very nice, a minimalist stealth game! A bit more hints on when the enemies can see me would be nice, but overall it's a solid gameplay.
The graphics are so beautiful and moody. I liked the whole idea very much.
I ust have a problem with walking the same way over and over again. That makes it a bit dull, until you find out, where you can make the next progress.
Haha, the character designs are great. There seems to be a strategy for every enemy , but feedback here would be nice, if you poked the right body parts. I just guessed and either the enemy loses nothing or nearly full health bar.
I think lesser options would be better or that you gain new attack styles after battles, so you can get used to the masses of attacks available here.
Reminds me of Battle Angel Alita. Very cool atmosphere.
Ice-cream cargo? m) Imagine Star Trek with that story! XD
Awesome! At first I thought "lame, a game about telling me I can't reach something", but then I tried it again, and again, and then I was all "woah". :-)
Don't give up pekuja! Some day you will be a game developer!
Split/Maze definitely is an example of an entry done right - a nice concept, works without any problems, has a menu and cool music, and it's not frustrating. Awesome!
Great use of the theme! ;-)
Hmm, I could enter the first portal, but after that nothing was interactive. I just walked and walked until the world ended. :?
Wow, very cool entry. Beautiful!
Awesome idea!
Top-notch entry!
Solid mechanics, could use a bit more sense of progression
Nice and simple, I love it!
Next time try to invest a bit more in the visuals, the game would be worth it!
The collision isn't working at all, makes the game not very enjoyable ... I am sorry.
Nice idea, but feels to incomplete. Expand it!
Looks and plays awesome!!
Very good entry!
A great game, only dragged down by its frustrating glitches. Improve it soon! :)
Nice, but I ragequitted at that red enemy ... At death it sent me back one level! :-(
Also, please put jump on W, the controls confused me a lot!
Great idea with the controls, but the game itself doesn't really make good use of it, IMHO. I would definitely try this for another game type!
Well done!
@hirsch: Yeah, that was a game-breaking bug ... I think I fixed it, you might want to try it again!
@Endurion: What did you enter in the first field? It needs at least 5 and less than 256 characters.
This is nice!
Nearly perfect entry, great idea!
I only tried the "Tweaked Controls" version and failed hard. :/
I gave ratking some chocolate, awesome
Great entry, I enjoyed it a lot!
That was actually very pleasant to play. Love the writing!
Wonderful idea. Got 443 points the first try!
"Sos, bekannter und beliebter polnischer Spieleautor, hat auch in diesem Spiel wieder eigene traumatische Erfahrungen verarbeitet. Ein treibender Bass und niedliche Kulleraugenoptik sind effektvoll in Kontrast gesetzt und geben dem ganzen eine feinsinnige ironische Note."
Uhm, what I really wanted to say: awesome as ever! :-P
A truly great entry. It's really sad you couldn't add sound and music, as it would have made the already good experience more awesome.
After a short phase of familiarization I really liked the controls. I don't think I would have tried it, but it really works well! My only gripe is the low contrast between background and player - but that should be an easy fix. :-)
Very nice and slick!
Great entry overall! A bit hard to see the path sometimes (because there is no visible grid), but overall a really cool puzzle game. Loved the coop aspect!
Extremely slick graphics and polished gameplay - well done!
All snowmen must die!!!
A One-Button-Game with a story ... and then it's not a One-Button-Game anymore ... woah, what a ride!
Best entry I played so far! What it lacks in coherent AI it adds double in awesome physics!
Awesome pixel art, well done! Will play it again!
Awesome sounds! Best I heard so far!
Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
@flokitall, @Elenesski: Yeah, sorry for the confusion about the controls. It's explained when you click on "Web", and I forgot that you can't see that here. I added an explanation to this page.
@freaknarf: Hmm, I use Firefox, and it works for me... strange!
My topscore is 580 (Jaws)!
Too bad you didn't have time for some sound effects, they are fairly easy to make with bfxr, and a lot to the atmosphere.
Anyway, nice entry.
Good sounds, well done!
Great entry - want more levels, and more playtime :-)
Great atmosphere! I recommend fixing the mouse cursor to the camera, though.
Solid entry, but a bit frustrating due to the physics! I like the idea a lot!
It feels so authentic, really cool. It's like I've played that in 1982 (when I was born).
At first I was like "meh that's easy", but with level 4 or so it got an interesting tactical component. Admirable game design!
Works very well, I would like to see it as a more expanded game with more different things to do (upgrades, enemy types). I was victorious!
The crashes are okay for a jam game, really (I only experienced them when dying). My only nitpick would be the lack of screenshake and particles!
Less bugs that Gothic 5/5
(PS: Could be fun as a two-player game maybe?)
Very well done visuals, I am envious. :)
Wish the gameplay would be a bit deeper, but other than that, no complaints!
Awesome - can't say more!
When is Operator Overload on Greenlight?
Better than Snakoban!
Top-notch writing, and the gameplay is fitting too!
Great puzzle game, but I don't really know why the movement is so slow... :P
Hey, this is much too short! Make it longer, because it's cool!
Nice and easy puzzle game. I like that it could easily be extended! Just add a bit of story for player motivation. :)
Awesome idea and it looks splendid!
IMHO it should play a giggle sound whenever your create a penis.
Thank you all for playing, and the nice comments!
@Sean: I don't like it when games catch your mouse cursor if it's not 100% necessary, so I figured it would be nice to separate it that way. In the end it's only an experiment.
@panurge: I'm not sure if you talked to him already? If so, you can always click more than once on something...
@gkbs, you have to tell where you're stuck exactly. The "figure" only talks to you at a certain point, so to reach that point you have to do some things. If you want you can watch this walkthrough, but it's not by me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSBoyLxXxyM
Extremely high production value, wow!
Can't wait to see this become A Finished Journey! :o)
I don't think i want to become a barber after experiencing how much working it is. ;-)
Great entry! Wish it would show the photo again after shaving each client.
More than lovely entry, but I accidentally pressed ESC and that ended the game for me right in the middle. :-(
Congrats, a well done entry! I gave it a high rating.
By the way, you do not need to add the *.pdb files when packing the game for Windows.
Wow, this is hard!
I recommend changing the keys for shape shifting to something more logical, maybe Arrow Key left and right, and 1,2,3.
Hey, I like the idea a lot - I gave a good rating!
I had a bug though, which made the game somewhat easy. ;-) http://i.imgur.com/wrzovRe.png
I enjoyed it for what it is - an short, atmospheric experience. Well done!
Very cool entry! I felt with the girl.
Pretty much the best entry I played so far. Thanks for making this!
Definitely a delightfuly Ludum Dare entry. I enjoyed most of the little games, but my favorite part is the overworld with all the details!
Thank you all for the comments. I will play and rate your games when the ratings are open.
@TechnoNugget: I'm never good with the theme. Usually I try to get inspired by it, but fail with doing something tightly focused on it. I then transform my concept until I have something that would be fun to make. For "Small World" thoughts went into the direction that computer games are small worlds, and that game development is like creating your own world. So I guess I just wanted to make something meta.
@holgk Did you play it through? In the end, Treachery of Game Dev is "just" a puzzle game where you have to follow the instructions of your tutor.
On the other side I don't know why everything has to be totally game-y just for the sake of it. I tried to make a personal experience. That is all. There IS a goal though.
@holgk Okay, because there were problems with the Mac version, so I wondered if this is why you ask such a question. I still wonder about that, especially as you apparently opened the secret chamber and should be able to proceed with the game (by solving a coding "puzzle" and talk to the NPC again).
Each room serves a purpose, with the last one (with the pillars) being the end of the game. I'm not sure what exactly you expect. Maybe you got stuck in the game, but I am not sure about that.
@kaisean-games I tested the game several times and didn't notice performance problems with that part. What system do you have?
@xxDOOMbox Thanks for the praise! I always hope to see more non-traditional games too, and I think Ludum Dare is a good place for it. But of course different opinions about that are okay too. ;-)
After you finished the exam, carcass tells you about a new computer in the first room. Its code might contain a hint...
Nice entry! I like the generated levels, and the gameplay works well.
For your next game I recommend adding a few particle effects as feedback for hitting/killing enemies. Also, I don't think having a screenshake for every arrow hitting a wall is a good idea, and without any sound a screenshake is strange.
Some power-ups would be cool, too, to make the gameplay a bit more diverse. :)
Fun little metroidvania, plays like butter.
Love the fact that I don't need to kill enemies again when I die!
Cool idea for a world/setting in a game, and how to approach it gameplay-wise. I think this could be expanded somehow.
I have no real complains about this entry, I enjoyed playing it through and the humor was great.
Cool, I didn't know you can do 3D games with LÖVE.
It's an interesting start und certainly a working game, but ingame feedback for anything you do is seriously lacking. Like hitting enemies or getting hit by enemies or moving to the next level. It was annoying that the intro sequence is unskippable and always plays when the game restart.
Solid entry, but I missed a lot of feedback. I never knew what was happening - probably because I usually don't play such town building games and would need a better tutorial.
Heya @holgk, I asked you something on my entry which you commented. You didn't react so I try it here again.
It might be that you had a problem with it because you are on a Mac. Is that right?
Well, it's a start. Try some character models next!
I always recommend putting a bit more work into the GUI. In this case I often couldn't read what it said because the font was too small and too light.
Funny idea and I like the style with the billboard characters and items. Wish there were a bit less post-effects, and something to do. Could have been a little adventure maybe, you got the mechanics for it.
This was quite something.
Interesting idea and concept, and the world was quite eerie. Love the trails!
Very nice, reminds me of a frantic MiniMetro! I didn't understand how I can circumvent hurricanes in such small timeframes, but overall I really liked the idea and the gameplay.
Really great idea for a game. I also like the execution a lot. I didn't hear any audio though, I wonder what the problem was.
Very creative! Couldn't find out how to beat level 2 already, though. Somehow the winning condition was too obscure for me...
A solid entry. Could have a bit more variety in the gameplay, but the upgrade options are cool enough.
Amazing entry overall. Puzzle mechanics are well done and the levels are friggin' hard. The only problem I had were the slow animations, but they actually annoyed me less than I thought they would.
Well done! It's cute and hard and looks good - nearly perfect.
I recommend adding a bit of particle effects when killing enemies, to make it even more fun.
Nice entry - I love Risk, and Dicewars. This is a great addition! Would love some sounds as feedback, and a small manual for the first steps.
Pretty and picturesque entry, it absolutely succeeds in creating the right kind of mood. :)
Very polished entry, congrats! I love the minimalism. Would play it on mobile!
Well done! - although much too hard for me. I'd recommend slowing the astronaut a bit down, at least at the beginning.
Tell Tjum the music is good. ;)
Nice idea! Is it possible to see older messages?
Couldn't get past the door with the pressure plate, but doesn't matter. =) Awesome ideas in this entry!
Didn't know how to use the teleporter, but apart from that it seems like a fine game.
I concur with those who said that it is a bit obscure that you have to click the robot to start. I'd just put a small tutorial text at the beginning, and also make it impossible to place an arrow on the robot's start tile. I'd also make the camera movement a bit faster.
It looks great in any case!
A good game, there is a lot of gameplay value and most of it works well, although I often jumped by accident. I don't mind if you got the graphics from somewhere else, but you should try to make the stuff more coherent; right now some assets don't fit to the rest.
Nice ideas in this one. Would have never thought that too many rhinos could be a problem ever ;)
Awesome story ;) I liked the intro scene.
The jump/run part was a bit clumsy, but overall I'd like to see a concept with turrets as defense mechanism in a platformer expanded.
Awesome mood! I didn't beat it but will definitely try it again.
Nice little conga simulator =) Feels polished, now I'd like an objective please!
Awesome idea to make a game for VECTREX, and testing it on actual hardware. Kudos! I wish the gameplay would progress a bit over time, but overall I enjoyed it. Got a highscore of 1788 ;-)
Awesome idea. I love when games explore the possibilities regarding multiplayer, and goals in a game.
I'd love some zooming option though, or being able to fullscreen the game. Not only the world was small, but the window too ;)
I was like bee
I am sorry but I couldn't play it. I die pretty much at the start without knowing why. And shooting doesn't seem to work too.
Nice experience with a message. I really liked it, even though the sound was a bit sparse.
