I like the soundtrack, really adds to the feel of being trapped in this maze. Also the maze in this game is a metaphor for life, isn't it? :)

The truth is, I write this "storyline" in the lines of what I felt while writing it. For you is a metaphor for life. For me is what I felt when writing the game. For others it's whatever they feel =) Also, thank you for you kind comment.

n0_named_guy 2011-08-22 23:18

Also, ignore any kind of type. Engrish (not English) is the language I am more proficient on =)

taslemguy 2011-08-23 01:30

I thought the game was neat. The sorts of comments the mouse made could easily be interpreted as the mouse's internal emotions OR metaphors for life. A bit brief, though.

n0_named_guy 2011-08-23 01:55

Life is brief as well =)

Awesome concept, and great implementation. I love the way you can experience the mouse's smell and thoughts as he walks through the maze, it's actually quite sad. Great job :)

toxiclogic 2011-08-23 02:41

Really nice concept and execution, though I wish it was a bit longer and had some more obstacles other than just mousetraps.

fireslash 2011-08-23 18:33

Love the atmosphere. The traps were still dangerous after being sprung which was kind of weird and the levels were short.

gornova 2011-08-23 19:18

Great atmosphere, good controls and musi and well done with Javascript :D

redwater 2011-08-23 19:24

a bit short, but i really liked the narration. would love to see some variety to the events the mouse can experience :)

jhelle 2011-08-23 19:52

Very nice music. I didn't really feel like I was escaping, it felt more like I was chasing the mouses nose. Kudos for using canvas though!

n0_named_guy 2011-08-23 20:10

Removed music... Forgot that music not made during the LD48 would violate the rules... =X Soz...

tommislav 2011-08-23 20:43

I really liked the atmosphere in this game =)

agersant 2011-08-23 22:11

Solid entry. The written comments and the smell sound are the highlight of the game for me =)
The respawn was a bit confusing when it happened but great job anyway.

Kudos for using Arch Linux, my favorite distro.

A mouse trying to escape - a classic! :-)
Technical a little bit wonky (sometimes I see black lines of pixels between the tiles) and graphics could be more interesting (e.g., tiles with textures, especially most on the screen is darkness). Hopefully next Ludum Dare you will have more time to add some more gameplay elements, "Mouse Trap" would have deserved it!

n0_named_guy 2011-08-24 21:58

The lines are a Firefox only issue, because of the way Firefox interpolates stuff or whatever... On Chrome and Opera it runs fine (not an excuse, will see how to fix that). But yeah, I had the engine "pre-done" and I still messed with it to make the fog... Making it all dark (and showing only the mouse) would help the player empathize with the lonely mouse... To you and all raters, thank you =)

cosmologicon 2011-08-24 22:50

A pretty simple idea, but quite well done, especially for your first time! The graphics and text worked quite well. I like that you could use either the mouse or the keyboard, that was a nice touch. I just would have liked a little more depth to the gameplay. I also like that you used HTML5+JS. I'd really like to see that emerge as a serious competitor to Flash.

I feel like the "freedoom" you get at the end could have a double meaning, although I realize it was probably just a typo. :)

n0_named_guy 2011-08-25 00:12

Let's just say it is not a typo, and that is has double meaning :P

andrew-2 2011-08-25 14:10

Simple and cute, and it's aaAAAaaall about the cheese.

mjiig 2011-08-27 12:29

"Am I here for someone's amusement"- That is one very insightful mouse.

angrygeometry 2011-08-29 00:04

the audio was great, though whenever i got near cheese i could just imagine you sniffing at a microphone... other then that, its a nice and short little game.

danik 2011-08-29 19:31

It was hard to get a sense of movement when you went through long passages. Some texture to the ground might help.

n0_named_guy 2011-08-30 02:49

@Danik Thanks for noting it! Gone to my to improve list =)
