Good game, but sometimes the guards or are way too dumb, or they are way too smart and see through walls... I also couldn't kill any guard =X Keep it up, tho =)

Good game, but sometimes the guards or are way too dumb, or they are way too smart and see through walls... I also couldn't kill any guard =X Keep it up, tho =)
Can't hear audio. I played this on wine.
Good dialog, albeit too fast to read sometimes. Jumping is hard, because of a lot of misjudgments. The ledge thingy took some time (and dirty tricks) to understand... Couldn't beat it, (can't judge distances correctly). But apart from that: great music, good graphics... =) Try adding some dumb birds, and ease on the platforming, and you got an insta seller =)
Game is cool, but man... It bugged out on me...After getting the blue key, and unlocking blue doors, insted of going forward, I went down... It gave an error (in which I pressed ignore). It was something about an undeclared var, on goto something level... Music is great, except for the first one (before getting the green key). Controls worked great for me, and liked the intro =) Nice job, nasty bug that kept me from playing more...
Liked it! Although at this hour (4:24 AM now), I can't defeat the boss, because my spacebar is too noisy, and I don't want to wake up anyone in my house =X
This seemed like a really teared down version of Metal Gear Solid. The 3rd level was really similar to a VR mission of aforementioned game... More levels would benefit the game. And I laughed at the end with "That isn't so hard"... Please improve this game! More levels would be enough for me :P
Erm, you forgot to mention that this was for Linux 64 bits... I, for instance, am running Linux 32 bits...
Can't rate this game... Also no makefile whatsoever so I could build the game myself =X
Like the concept. I only did it all to the end just to see all the story. Some obstacles and a way to lose would benefit the game =) But good work!
Liked the game. Didn't test the social part, so I am not evaluating it... (And I know first hand that it is a pain in the arse to develop for the Facebook API =P) Cool story, couldn't get pass the level where there were all those lines... That was to be expected... [I have no friends who like this kind of stuff *cries*]. So, great game! Hope you publish it as a Facebook app, and build a user base from that =) Only one complaint: slippery controls... The triangle rotates way too fast, and moves slowly (in relation to the rotation speed).
Great game I must say! It reminds of those LEGO Mindstorms kits... The puzzles were nice! But one complaint... Sometimes the game would consume all my CPU for no apparent reason... And that was annoying (not to mention the loopy tones...). On a CRT monitor it is REALLY hard to read the tooltips. If you will improve this game, improve the tooltips readability. Keep up the good work!
Liked the game (didn't complete it, but I liked it!)
Your game is awesome, but I am just too dumb to play it =(
Won't run on Linux with wine. A port would be appreciated =). Your game looks according to description, screenshots and journal...
Yep, a tutorial would really help me understand this game better. It took me a while to figure out that I could move a unit =X Also, a command history would help =) But nice job =)
I seem to be way too dumb to understand this game =( Can't play it, can't rate it accordingly... But I like how you didn't have to use flash or other proprietary thingy :)
The game is cool. I just wanna hug that ball... Maybe marry her, and have kids (wait what?)... Moving on... The wait the ball bounces off the blocks doesn't feel quite right to me... I like the idea, but it should be worked out more. The tunes are well fit by the way =)
I dislike the way the sound is using. It gets noisy while jumping around and walking (and I dislike this kind of noise). Also I don't think this has not much to do with escape... It has something do with it, but not much... But, with a bit of polish (and better level design), a good game may come out =)
Game is cool and interesting. I kept playing for the sake of solving the puzzlers (I like solving them!). But the controls are too awkward. I ended up dead because of the not so great controls. And being dead blows, because the level is reset... I wish you great success on your future endeavors =)
Don't have chrome, won't install chrome, and on Firefox it doesn't clear the previous frame, so "ghosting" everyone... I'll just assume this works great on chrome, so I won't rate this game (because I can't play it well) =/
Cool... =)
I can't play it =( Does not work on Firefox, on Linux...
I like it! Pretty addictive =D
Can't run your game. No source code so I could build, and/or no Linux 32 bit build that I could run =X Can't play, can't rate.
It is a pretty cool concept =)
Fun game! Loved the use of escape. You sure didn't want to escape the escape theme!
Can't play on Linux =( And I like walking skeletons =X
Fun little game... But I think the way the skeleton falls isn't the best... I would rather see his bones over all place =)
The game is cool, but it suffers from its controls... I won't say anything that hasn't been said in the comments above =X
Yet another game I can't play, because of proprietary technology =(
Good game, but I really dislike the sound... Too repetitive... Can't distinguish the sound of my own bullets versus enemy fire... Shop feature is nice. Overall, a fun game. And I think the lacking sprites make the game better. =)
Good game, nice audio, but sometimes a little bit annoying. Couldn't get past the level 2 boss (soz, i r noob). But I had fun playing this game... Also it is very hard to read the cutscenes while the "music" is playing, and after the first boss I accidentally skiped the cutscene, by using my "reaccional skills"... Great job =)
I like this game. I noticed on how floaty her jumps her...!
Loved the game mechanics...! And also what the NPCs said =)
Your game is cool... And it would benefit (in my opinion) to be possible the immediate surrounding of the guy... Not just a blink. I couldn't manage to get past from the Laser level =(
Good game. Got stuck on that narrow path. And it took me some time to figure out that I had to use the WASD keys. Another complaint is that after the game loses focus (on Linux), the WASD keys won't work =(
That pit, and the fact that I couldn't hesitate for a second. Liked the sins thing =)
The game is good as it is! You did a suberb job. Only complaint is that it is too unbalanced (imho)... But you managed to make a good game in 48 hours. Feel proud =)
A nice game. Liked the back story. Controls were responsive, but hated them. Thate because the ship controls are Asteroid-like, and I dislike them. Graphically is good, had fun (and rage) while playing it. Audio is a little meh, but gets the job done. Overall a good game =)
Can compile, but can't play it on Arch Linux 32 bits... Whenever I press any arrow key it stops working. Here's the console output:
└┌(%:~/sandbox/ld21/Deraj/Linux/thegrind-0.1)┌- ./thegrind
ERROR: [string "TheGrind/TheGrind.lua"]:171: attempt to call method 'reset' (a nil value)
ERROR: [string "TheGrind/TheGrind.lua"]:1277: attempt to index field 'eventHandlers' (a nil value)
It's good to see a female as a main player, and a man as a sidekick. That's always good. About the game: it was a nice game, but not many choices... I felt it like an interactive story with little choices. Because there is so much text to read, I wouldn't backtrack (it was boring to me). The story was good, the background images great and you've got the best UI I've ever seen so far in this LD. Keep it up!
Best game I've seen so far. Really polished. Great level design. Only complaint: falling of the moving ledges for no reason. Apart from that, the game is perfect! More levels please :P
>There should be some penalty for holding down Shift all the time...
I feel exactly the same way. A shame this can't run on Firefox in a smooth manner =/
Cool game; more levels would be great; cutscene is slow and dull; loading takes forever;
More levels please =)
Can't run... XNA... And I'm on Linux... But gratz on making your first game =)
Good game! I only miss a way of storing my hi-score =( Port this to the iOS or Android, and start making some pocket money =P
Can't play this game =( I am on Linux...
Can't play on Linux =(
Damn... I fell right on the first level... (By going to the left for lolz)
For a 15 yo kid, Not bad! Game is cool, music is cool, it is very polished. Could use checkpoints =) Also, I fell to oblivion on the first level, by moving straight left...
Sweet and short, just how I like it!
A fun little game! Very polished, nicely done!
The truth is, I write this "storyline" in the lines of what I felt while writing it. For you is a metaphor for life. For me is what I felt when writing the game. For others it's whatever they feel =) Also, thank you for you kind comment.
Also, ignore any kind of type. Engrish (not English) is the language I am more proficient on =)
Life is brief as well =)
Removed music... Forgot that music not made during the LD48 would violate the rules... =X Soz...
The lines are a Firefox only issue, because of the way Firefox interpolates stuff or whatever... On Chrome and Opera it runs fine (not an excuse, will see how to fix that). But yeah, I had the engine "pre-done" and I still messed with it to make the fog... Making it all dark (and showing only the mouse) would help the player empathize with the lonely mouse... To you and all raters, thank you =)
Let's just say it is not a typo, and that is has double meaning :P
@Danik Thanks for noting it! Gone to my to improve list =)
So... press right and D to ad-infinitum to get the hi-score? Game runs nicely, glad to see another Canvas+JS entry! But there's nothing much to this game =(
What seems to be a beautiful game (seeing from the screen shots) doesn't run on Linux =(
Sorry man, couldn't play 'till to the end (now that I've managed to be on Windows). It is too noisy, I dislike the sound effect you use when the face is being used. Another thing that really gets my nerves is that everytime that I use my face I must sit and watch it go... A nice effect here and there, but man, EVERYTIME IT IS USED? That's too much for me. Enough with the hating =) I find this game quite an original one. I has a really nice idea, but poorly executed... I wish you the best =)
Cool game. Like the footprints, and the SFX was done quite nicely =)
As stated on IRC, more speed please =)
Cool neat game. I dislike how slowly the car moves after getting hit. And I'd like to be able to disable police cars (by ramming them, or making them go into traffic). Also, moving traffic would be a plus =)
XNA =( (I am on Linux) But by your journal, it seems pretty good =)
Could play a bit, and I rated what I could see and hear (graphics, audio, humor and community). Ran it on wine with some surface offset issues. Seems like a fun game! Keep developing it! Loved the graphics.
Interesting game. Reminds me of GTA because of the vehichle =P One thing that I loved about the game was "guard-surfing". The thing that I hated (and made my turn off the game in frustration) was when the guards "surfed" on the char... Everytime a guard was right on top of the char, it wouldn't move...
Liked the game. Shame it does run half the times on wine =(
It's a nice concept, but too pale imho. And I couldn't win =(
My CPU craps itself when running this game. Can't run, can't rate =X
Loved the innovation is this game. Loved the ideas. Keep it up.
Although it is nice to see HTML5 based games, but I dislike your game. I am not here to bash it, just to do constructive criticism. There's no explanation on how to play it. When the player moves, the screen does not scroll smoothly, and it kinda makes me feel dizzy. And I don't know what is a good tile, and what is bad a tile. Put some smooth scrolling, an explanation, I am sure you'll have a great game =)
Also it worked fine on Firefox (played the web version). But the offline version (on the Linux link) does not work (neither on Firefox, neither on Chromium).
Loved this game! Keep it up!
This is one fast-paced game, and this is the thing I like about it. It's not only about clearing the most square thingies on a clock. It takes some strategy, to maximize score. So this game is not as "dumb" as it looks. It has some strategy built into it.
You have to pay attention to every little sound, and to that "blrerererhhhghg" noise. If you distract for a second, game over. This game really keeps you on your toes.
I had no problems no do I have complaints about the graphics. The "gems" were easy to see and distinguish from each other.
The music is nice.
The PC controls could be improved. They're good as they are now, but you could let the player pan the view with the right mouse button.
8/10, good for playing while commuting.
Will video post review soon.

What a great idea for the game. Nice use of the theme! It always kept me on my toes.
I shouted many profanities during the playing of this game. Seriously fsck that revolver... I don't like guns pointed at me, PERIOD! I was always hoping that the damned thing failed to shoot me.
All in all, music is good, tho a bit repetitive. So you've done a great job on the audio department.
Graphic-wise, nice use of the "CRT filter". It gives the game a retro feel.
8/10 will play again.
I liked your game. I love the water physics, and the way the fire spreads. Very realistic indeed :P.
I also liked to save little dogs (or kittens, or wtv those are).
But, this game has problems... It is hard to spot where do I have to go. At first, I assumed all I needed to do was put out the fire, and that I was all set. Next time, try to pick different colors so the exit can be spotted more easily.
Another thing that I would like this game to have is to force the player to put out ALL the fire. That's what firemen do. They put out all the fire...
7/10, would play again.
A very clean looking game, that is really, really smooth.
I liked everything about this game, except the "BAM YOU DEAD 'CAUSE 10 SECONDS"... Not bad for 15 hours =)
Managed to get to level 7, once. After that I gave up.
Nice job on this one.
I fail to see any connection to the theme.
I found myself wondering what the hell should I do.
But while wondering, I could stare at beautiful rendered asteroids and the back of a ship. If I had control of the ship (ie: moving up, down and/or even accelerate and break) this game would much cooler.
6/10 improve your game so I can play it
I liked the story. It was the main thing pushing forward to guess what the hell was I supposed to do on your puzzles. (Is that fixed now? At the time of my play-through there were no hints)
Couldn't pass the door puzzle because my brain was not made to solve such puzzles.
The visuals are awesome, the storyline even more awesome, but my brain just can't handle your game properly. Will probably come back for more.
Also, that beating heart. Well done!
8/10, will play again to beat the crap out of your little game
I forgot to mention that the controls for the isometric view (when you control that dead rich guy) don't work properly. You gotta click multiple times until the guy moves properly.
Video review: http://www.twitch.tv/n0_named_guy/c/2833788
I like your game. Has really nice colours and drawings.
I would really like to see what lays in the path for our hero, so I could plan before hand, insted of relying on trial and error.
I also like the fact that you introduce items in a "safe" environment. Don't know how to explain this with better words, but I saw what you did there.
7/10 would play again.
I liked how this timed game didn't have a timer, like a number timer. The timing is set by the music, bravo! It gives a sense of urgency.
The controls are tight, and the game ran smoothly. About the scaling issue, well, bad stuff happens to good people...
I was kinda disappointed to find that there was only one level (after trying many times to beat that one level).
All in all, good job! I liked it, and you have my SEAL OF APPROVAL.
Your game is a bit hard. On the first time I entered the castle I died right away (my time was up, and I only had one life left). There are NOT coins in abundance, and I shoot every little thing I could... That's false advertising right there :P
Other than that: controls are fine. Runs smoothly on Arch Linux 64 bits, and I hate those jumping thingies, seriously... Oh, and I had fun playing your game.
Will post video review when ready.
Live Game review: http://www.twitch.tv/n0_named_guy/c/2831075
This game reminds me of Amnesia: The Dark Descent. If that's what you were after, nice job.
I like the way the ghost hints you where to go, and the little noises and creaks to hint for doors. Really nice touch.
One thing that I miss in this game is a RUN FOR YOUR LIFE button. It would my life easier. Not that button is needed, because not being able to run adds some urgency to the task at hand.
The music is fantastic and fits the game's (and the jam's) theme pretty well.
On Windows 7 (64 bits) the text graphics (Press space to recharge, and etc) were cropped, therefore making it hard to read.
This game shouldn't be playing in a windowed mode, because by doing that, the immersion is gone. To add to the experience, I recommend playing this game without lights (the only light in your room should be provided by your monitor) and with headphones on maximum volume.
Good experience, sets a great mood. 9/10 will play and recommend it when finished. Well worth the 43 MB download...
I admit, I cheated my way to win the game. All I did was run back, point a suspect, fail, repeat until I get the right one.
It was difficult for me to hear the voices, since English is not my native language. And if I got stuck between the ladies the voices would repeat themselves.
Fantastic job on the graphics! A 3D game with a 2D feel (or is it the other way around?). The shoulder view effect is nicely done.
I liked your game, but I like the concept more. And you conveyed it pretty well. I would like to see this game grow.
In my opinion the connection to the theme is a bit far fetched. I feel no 10 seconds influence... But that's just me.
Rated 7/10 would play again if only I could understand what they think (closed captions would help on this, for us international users).

Can't get past the first level. Captain Timewarp is too slippery. Can't hit a jump well enough.
Ran on Arch Linux 64 bits.
Will post video review later.

I like platformers. I like multiplayer. I like online.
And you managed to glue all this in one spectacular game.
It felt laggy at times, but hey, everything is not perfect.
The controls are spot on. They are smooth and responsive.
The music was fitting. Had a fun, "let's beat stuff up" theme. I liked it.
Graphic-wise: I could see everything clearly on-screen, except the players. I would confuse myself with other players who had the same skin as I had. I would suggest that you use outlines or other way to differentiate the player from the enemies.
I would also like to see the enemies flash red before they explode to a messy red blob.
Lastly, I would like to see how many frags I have, who have the most frags, and how many times I've died.
Rated 9/10 will play again when done.
Linux version works nice!
One thing I'd like to see added:
When pressing in air: down + punch == kick.
Fun game, with catchy music. I liked it. But I failed to find a relevant connection with the 10 second thing. I had A LOT of time to do my business (killing the baddies). Only after killing the big guy, I remembered that I could use the 1,2 and 3 keys. I found the intro level a bit too long...
Other than that, the game ran smoothly on Firefox (on Arch Linux 64 bits). I liked it.
Will post live video review.
Live video review available at: http://www.twitch.tv/n0_named_guy/c/2831296
Liked the story. I like Top Gear. What can go wrong with this game? Removing the brakes from a car. So kids, whatever you do, don't remove the brakes.
There's plenty of humor in this game, specially for Top Gear fans. The interface seems daunting at first, but you'll figure your way out sooner than you expect.
Crash testing cars was never so fun.
Rating: 7/10 would play again.
I liked your game's concept. It's a fun, yet frustrating as hell game. I would love to send commands immediately, instead of having to wait forever (8s is too much time) to relay the next set of commands.
Another thing I would suggest: make it possible to only send the commands one time, instead of allowing multiple transmissions. Or at least make an achievement out of it...
Graphic-wise, the game was simple, and so were the graphics. No complaints on that section.
The audio was nicely done, with the jet engine sound and the beeping, but yet very, very simple. It was good enough.
The one thing that I disliked (ie: hated) the most in this game was the waiting times. I spent more time waiting for something to happen than actually playing. And the lack of a replay, or retry key/option.
All in all, good game 7/10, would play again.
The controls are good and I find the "quirky" animation funny. The intro (altought with forgivable typos) was a nice thing. I understood what the objective.
But there are several bugs. For instance, the runner can get stuck mid-air against a block.
Graphically, the colors are WAY too saturated... That blue hurts my eyes, and I can't read the onscreen text sometimes. Next time, pick better, contrasting colours.
Your music doesn't loop correctly. I failed to find any connection to the theme (10 seconds). The third level is unbeatable.
I ran your game on Arch Linux 64 bits, without any problem.
I really liked your game. It compiled and ran successfully on Arch Linux 64 bits.

Best death screen ever. I realy like it. I noticed the little touches, like the font of the time left getting bigger and bigger... Nice touch really.
But, one fatal flaw that your game has: when jumping the guy accelerates SO MUCH on the X axis... After "mastering" that mechanic, the game is actually kinda fun...
It would be more fun if you had more levels, and if you exploited this acceleration "feature" (not a bug ;)). For instance, a long pit with spikes.
Ran smoothly, on Arch Linux 64 bits. Good job, keep it up.
I liked your game. I liked the art, I like the clicking. It's fast paced, and I liked it... Will probably come back for more.
I highly recommend this simple game, to anyone who wants to practice mouse targeting (for FPS) and for those who play HoN, Dota, LoL and similar games where constant clicking is required.
9/10, would play again.

Liked the story. And the game was beatable. It took me a while to beat it, but I did it.
Graphic-wise the game is not pleasant to they eye. It's always the same alternating colors. This game could use more tiles. The enemies' and the player's sprite were kinda fuzzy around their edges (transparency/alpha channel issues?).
The soundtrack is way too repetitive. So repetitive, I had to turn the sound down. You would have better results you just used sound effects (for instance, when you get stuck to a wall).
Finally, I find no connection (other than the story that's not in-game) with the 10 seconds theme.
Not all is bad, mind you. The redeeming qualities of this game are:
* Not so bad level design: I had fun playing this game (the most important thing while playing a game is to have fun)
* Although the jumping control is not "usual" I find that it works really well with your game.
* The death screens and win screens are a nice touch.
* I liked the story.
All in all, I rate your game 6/10, will play again if you improve it =)
There's plenty of room for improvement.
Will post video review soon.

Not my kind of game, to be honest, so'll rate on what I could appreciate and understand: I liked the music and the mood. The graphics were too dark, in second level. I understand the reasoning behind such decision, but it was hard to see the platforms. I couldn't pass the second level, even with protips.
I had no fun while playing this game, since this is not the kind of game I like to play.
Game ran smoothly on Arch Linux 64 bits.

Your game is refreshing. I would live to play it on a tablet, and control it with my fingers, or to use my mouse to control the photon. That's the major grip I have with this game, the control. But I got used to it quickly enough. =)
The story is simple and captivating. I tried the best I could to keep going, and move further into the giant space, because I really liked the "death screen" messages.
The music was simple, and yet fitting to the game, giving that feel of space exploration...
This would be a great game to play on the go. So if you can do a port of it to mobile platforms (even as it is) you can be in for big money.
Rated 9/10 will play again when finished (or as it is, for that matter).
Thank you for all the feedback and ratings. This is a game that I hope to improve.
I failed to find a purpose on this game, and a connection to the 10s theme.
The controls were fine, I was able to control the car just right. The little touch of recording the player's ghosts did not went unnoticed.
I failed to find an ending and purpose. This seemed like a tech demo that failed to convey the idea you were after.
This game seems like a programmer's game.
Rated 5/7.

It's a very fun game, with a nice soundtrack. The music in the background loops nicely and is not annoying. Good music for solving platform puzzles.
And I also must say that I love the game mechanic you made here. Never seen anything like that. A+ for innovation.
The downsides:
* It took me a while to figure out that I should've wall jump (mention that in the notes).
* I also didn't understand why, out of the blue would I die. You should explain that you are SAFE when you are in the "cheese thingy". Also, one suggestion to this: you can give the player a game over screen if under 10s the player fails to reach a "safe zone", instead of praying to not lose. This would reduce player's frustration.
* Jumping is a little weird at first, and so is the camera. But this is not game breaking stuff.
* Adding more levels, like intro levels explaining the game mechanics (no need for text) would improve the game substantially.
Good game, rated 8/10. Would play again.

I'd like to point out the abstract nature of this game.
That caught my eye.
I failed to find a purpose on this game. There's no control explanation whatsoever. I can't find this game's goal.
I imagine that I should find a gold, while navigating the cubic rooms?
All in all, A for effort, 4/10... Improve your game =)
Will post video review link when ready.
