LD21 — Escape

Flee Buster by ChevyRay 2011-08-22T16:21:00

Best one I've played so far :)

Horseback Chase by pekuja 2011-09-07T09:28:00

Nice game, difficult to think about shooting and jumping at the same time :D A little bit too easy to fall in the chasms

Ascapen Prime by Six 2011-08-23T12:45:00

I think I crashed with every single gray obstacle hehe

Hotel Escape by pgil 2011-08-27T07:52:00

bloody game maker games not working in Wine :( looked nice

INFALL by voxel 2011-08-24T11:26:00

can't get the Linux64 version running.. it installed panda3d and then fails on "no module named datetime"..

I have python-egenix-mxdatetime and python-dateutil installed

Runner! .. and his problems.. 1.1 by Folis 2011-08-25T09:03:00

Wouldn't work with Wine, and there doesn't seem to be a GameMaker for Linux :(

Caved In by alexlarioza 2011-08-22T16:47:00

Got 528! Kinda cute game. Length and complexity suitable for a compo.

Mindbane by LegacyCrono 2011-08-23T06:58:00

Well written platformer! The intro level combined with the ghosts really works to convey the feeling that you're trapped somwhere you don't belong (which implies that you want to escape :D)

Boat Escapade by wademcgillis 2011-08-24T16:20:00

Sweet platformer, but it felt like 90% of the rooms were just fillers. Would've been better if the ship was smaller

BRITAIN:2027 by Sophie Houlden 2011-08-24T10:24:00

Wish there was Unity for Linux :(

Bunnies, Back Into Your Cage! by ratking 2011-08-23T08:05:00

I have to agree with previous posters, controls could have been better. And "pickup mode" 1 or 2 isn't really self-explanatory. Even on/off would have been better :)

Graphics are very cute, and it definitely has potential as a block based puzzle platformer. I like how you used the escape theme, that it's not the protagonist who is escaping and the escape isn't the goal.

Heartbreaker! by triplefox 2011-08-22T20:37:00

A little bit buggy (objects moving back and forth, players dying at wrong times etc) but a nice idea. I like that you can just drop in and play with random people. Game mechanics could benefit from being a little bit more complex

Untitled by Sandcrawler 2011-08-22T20:00:00

Wine says "Failed to load plugin 4.csx" and then the program crashes :(

I was a teenage Hipster! by 8bitmuse 2011-08-23T08:53:00

So, Linux version coming later? Escape.exe crashes :(

Red Rover by d_m 2011-08-23T05:53:00

I got 3620, but I didn't think there would be anything more to it than picking up rocks, crushing them and listening to the catchy music :) Maybe I should've thought about the theme hehe

FUCKING RUN!!! by EddieCameron 2011-08-22T20:30:00

Aw, no Unity web player for Linux :(

The ESCape by mattperrin 2011-08-22T16:17:00

First time I tried playing I thought it was broken, then I went back and read that you should use the escape key to change the map :D Pretty cool idea I think, maybe you could turn it into a full game if you keep developing it

Terminal escape by ghostonline 2011-08-25T13:17:00

Cool game, definitely has potential if you add some more features and variation to it!

Terminal escape by ghostonline 2011-08-25T13:18:00

Cool game, definitely has potential if you add some more features and variation to it!

Line 242 in blueprint.py should be:
line = line.strip(',\n\r ')

Red-Line to Shady Grove by alect 2011-08-24T15:47:00

Good game, but annoying that I have to click for next level, when the rest of the game is keyboard controlled

TVs Attack by Maskl 2011-08-22T17:00:00

Just getting a screen with gray static when I start the game :\

Elastic Prison by bitbof 2011-08-22T18:29:00

java -Djava.library.path=. -jar elastic\ prison.jar

to start, in case someone gets errors.. difficult game :P

Fred the Astro-Miner by supermaximo93 2011-08-24T07:06:00

You might need to install libsdl-gfx which is a separate package from libsdl.

I could start the game, but I just had to uninstall fglrx because today my computer wouldn't boot with it :O so it fails when GLSL 1.50 isn't found

Maybe I'll try again if I get the fglrx driver working

Fred the Astro-Miner by supermaximo93 2011-08-24T20:38:00

Reinstalled latest Catalyst so the game is working now :) Fun but nerve-wrecking being chased by that big monster

You Don't Fit by mcc 2011-08-24T06:32:00

Cool game! I like how you made the levels blend in to eachother, while still being separate puzzles.

EscApe by JohanAR 2011-08-23T05:33:00

Thanks for your comments! Hoping for high points on theme and maybe some humor. I regret not recording any sound effects, but it was in the middle of the night and I didn't want to wake my wife up by making monkey sounds :)

Maybe next compo I'll get something done in Scala. I know a bit of Haskell and Erlang, though I'm not taking advantage of functional programming in Scala, just using it like an improved version of Java

EscApe by JohanAR 2011-08-23T08:12:00

cornedor & maxx : what OS are you using? If you start it from a text prompt (cmd, terminal, etc depending on platform), do you get an error message?

java -Djava.library.path=binlib -jar Escape.jar

is the command, otherwise it will complain about missing lwjgl. If you just try to start the JAR you won't see the error though. And I haven't tried the .bat file, I just assumed that's how they work :D

EscApe by JohanAR 2011-08-24T09:46:00

Seems to be some issue with Java 7 :( Will continue looking at it when time permits

EscApe by JohanAR 2011-08-31T17:06:00

Chaoslab, have a look at the post-mortem (link next to downloads) for a walk-through :)

I spent a few extra hours with the deluxe version, but I don't think I'm ever going to properly finish this. Basically I threw this together because I didn't have time enough to write what I wanted to, and I don't think the end result would be worth the effort.

ESCAPE FROM troll CASTLE by Games_1 2011-08-23T05:25:00

Would also have worked with the big and small theme :) One disadvantage with being small and slow is that the levels felt a little empty, and I spent what felt like a long time waiting for platforms to move back and forth. I like the humor though

Robot Pit Escape by SuperSausageDog 2011-08-22T19:52:00

That's some pretty cool game play, and the puzzles get very challenging after a while.

Evasion by MacTuitui 2011-08-24T07:16:00

A little bit like Monaco :) You ought to continue working on it and add different kinds of missions, items, skills and so on. Could turn into something really cool

Flashlight Runner by TheVTM 2011-08-22T16:57:00

32 seconds.. I think the first jump is the most difficult one

DarkRun by dotslasch 2011-08-22T17:03:00

The game does strange things when I press "c".. still, I couldn't get the second cube :(

Road Runner by Xobust 2011-08-22T20:08:00

Doesn't start in Wine, possibly due to lack of that VC++ redist

GTFO - The Game by Kinta 2011-08-23T15:20:00

Nice take on the platform genre. Fun to play and innovative! Maybe could use a little bit of polish to make the gameplay slightly faster. As it is now I alternated a lot between using the head and the body.

Beyond the Fourth Wall by Gjarble 2011-08-23T06:38:00

I listed your game as an example of how to get a good theme rating (from me) in a blog post I just wrote :)

Escape - Forest 2012 by Chaoslab 2011-08-23T15:04:00

I got it to show the main screen by adding the JMF jars to classpath, but I got a java error indicating missing mp3 stuff. DOwnloaded the jmf mp3 codec and put it in the classpath and I'm back to the gray screen.

Cubicle Escape by tordre 2011-08-22T18:40:00

Can't get it running in Wine

Escape The Void by NaturallyMade 2011-08-22T20:10:00

Freezes Wine so I can̈́'t play it :( Once I could play the first level. Looks kinds cute though

Twister by lartens 2011-08-24T15:53:00

is it possible to get more than ca 700 points? even if I stay against the right screen border the tornado runs me over :(

Bob's Escape by Tainted_Code 2011-08-22T20:20:00

Game basics feel a little like SMB but the levels make it a bit more original. It would be interesting to see it evolve further, maybe with more different types of terrain and monsters

BATHOS by johanp 2011-08-27T07:23:00

aw, it's exactly the same as my game, except with better graphics and it also has sound.

LD23 — Tiny World

Pale Blue Dot by tametick 2012-04-23T09:21:00

My highscore is also 25 and 257

SpaceBlastah by sweetfish 2012-04-26T10:49:00

Looks like it works in Opera Next too
