Nice game, difficult to think about shooting and jumping at the same time :D A little bit too easy to fall in the chasms
I think I crashed with every single gray obstacle hehe
bloody game maker games not working in Wine :( looked nice
Wouldn't work with Wine, and there doesn't seem to be a GameMaker for Linux :(
Got 528! Kinda cute game. Length and complexity suitable for a compo.
Well written platformer! The intro level combined with the ghosts really works to convey the feeling that you're trapped somwhere you don't belong (which implies that you want to escape :D)
Sweet platformer, but it felt like 90% of the rooms were just fillers. Would've been better if the ship was smaller
Wish there was Unity for Linux :(
I have to agree with previous posters, controls could have been better. And "pickup mode" 1 or 2 isn't really self-explanatory. Even on/off would have been better :)
Graphics are very cute, and it definitely has potential as a block based puzzle platformer. I like how you used the escape theme, that it's not the protagonist who is escaping and the escape isn't the goal.
A little bit buggy (objects moving back and forth, players dying at wrong times etc) but a nice idea. I like that you can just drop in and play with random people. Game mechanics could benefit from being a little bit more complex
Wine says "Failed to load plugin 4.csx" and then the program crashes :(
So, Linux version coming later? Escape.exe crashes :(
Aw, no Unity web player for Linux :(
First time I tried playing I thought it was broken, then I went back and read that you should use the escape key to change the map :D Pretty cool idea I think, maybe you could turn it into a full game if you keep developing it
Cool game, definitely has potential if you add some more features and variation to it!

Line 242 in blueprint.py should be:
line = line.strip(',\n\r ')
Good game, but annoying that I have to click for next level, when the rest of the game is keyboard controlled
Just getting a screen with gray static when I start the game :\
java -Djava.library.path=. -jar elastic\ prison.jar
to start, in case someone gets errors.. difficult game :P
You might need to install libsdl-gfx which is a separate package from libsdl.
I could start the game, but I just had to uninstall fglrx because today my computer wouldn't boot with it :O so it fails when GLSL 1.50 isn't found
Maybe I'll try again if I get the fglrx driver working
Reinstalled latest Catalyst so the game is working now :) Fun but nerve-wrecking being chased by that big monster
Cool game! I like how you made the levels blend in to eachother, while still being separate puzzles.
Thanks for your comments! Hoping for high points on theme and maybe some humor. I regret not recording any sound effects, but it was in the middle of the night and I didn't want to wake my wife up by making monkey sounds :)
Maybe next compo I'll get something done in Scala. I know a bit of Haskell and Erlang, though I'm not taking advantage of functional programming in Scala, just using it like an improved version of Java
cornedor & maxx : what OS are you using? If you start it from a text prompt (cmd, terminal, etc depending on platform), do you get an error message?
java -Djava.library.path=binlib -jar Escape.jar
is the command, otherwise it will complain about missing lwjgl. If you just try to start the JAR you won't see the error though. And I haven't tried the .bat file, I just assumed that's how they work :D
Chaoslab, have a look at the post-mortem (link next to downloads) for a walk-through :)
I spent a few extra hours with the deluxe version, but I don't think I'm ever going to properly finish this. Basically I threw this together because I didn't have time enough to write what I wanted to, and I don't think the end result would be worth the effort.
Would also have worked with the big and small theme :) One disadvantage with being small and slow is that the levels felt a little empty, and I spent what felt like a long time waiting for platforms to move back and forth. I like the humor though
That's some pretty cool game play, and the puzzles get very challenging after a while.
32 seconds.. I think the first jump is the most difficult one
Doesn't start in Wine, possibly due to lack of that VC++ redist
Nice take on the platform genre. Fun to play and innovative! Maybe could use a little bit of polish to make the gameplay slightly faster. As it is now I alternated a lot between using the head and the body.
I listed your game as an example of how to get a good theme rating (from me) in a blog post I just wrote :)

I got it to show the main screen by adding the JMF jars to classpath, but I got a java error indicating missing mp3 stuff. DOwnloaded the jmf mp3 codec and put it in the classpath and I'm back to the gray screen.
Can't get it running in Wine
Freezes Wine so I can̈́'t play it :( Once I could play the first level. Looks kinds cute though
Game basics feel a little like SMB but the levels make it a bit more original. It would be interesting to see it evolve further, maybe with more different types of terrain and monsters
My highscore is also 25 and 257
Looks like it works in Opera Next too
