This is meant to be a 48 hour entry, it was completed and uploaded within the 48 hours, just didn't create this entry (my bad).

I like it, but there are an LOT of spelling errors in it for a text based game.
The backgrounds look good I think, but sadly the music didn't work for me at all.

I got it to show the main screen by adding the JMF jars to classpath, but I got a java error indicating missing mp3 stuff. DOwnloaded the jmf mp3 codec and put it in the classpath and I'm back to the gray screen.

Just a quick update. Working on a post competition version with corrections to content and media. Will contain a Macintosh run script (the game runs fine on Macintosh from the command line) and also a Linux version. Be gentle on the virgins! :-)

The music wouldn't play :(

(java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: javax.media.Manager)

thristhart 2011-08-24 13:53

Music didn't play, so I'll rate n/a for audio.

I felt like I was missing one giant inside joke, which from your comments on IRC I think I was. :P

40 Mb! This is gonna be one long dial-up bill :P The art is... special. Music didn't work, but I listened the MP3s separately. To be honest, one polished piece vs. three average would have been better.

chaoslab 2011-08-25 04:15

If the music is not working you may not have JMF installed correctly just java? The MP3's are in the media/audio.

Was my first ever time entering the challenge. Sorry is some of the content / humor is a bit obscure thristhart. Lots of messages and things to friends and stuff e.g. Hot Latte made by Jeddly, Muzzy's Leatherma, etc.... Some MMO humor in there as well.

Thanks for the feed back.

mikolalysenko 2011-08-27 02:37

I tried, but I could not get this game to run. Sorry, :(

puffee 2011-08-29 12:02

Was unable to get past the title screen. None of the clickboxes (atleast I assume they were clickboxes) worked nor did the window close button. Tried to use KB but nothing happened either =/

Update:
There seems to be an issue with Linux not receiving Mouse Input and I am building a Damn Small Linux box to test it.

Version 1.223 is looking good with various spelling fixes and a few bugs squashed.

Remixing the music a bit and will shorten it, looking into Ogg Vorbis so JMF is not required for music play back and will package it with the release.

When its all ready I will uploaded it and add a link at the bottom of my entry page to the post competition version.

This was the most psychedelic text adventure I ever played. The music didn't work here, too, but I played it in WinAmp.

mactuitui 2011-09-06 08:06

Not my type of game but I have to congratulate you for the content. WTF? :)

angrygeometry 2011-09-06 17:00

i like the system you made for a text adventure game, and i'm all for surreal games, but i think this fell a little short. also huge size!! yikes.

chaoslab 2011-09-07 05:28

Thanks for the feed back! Yeah, in retrospec 30m of music and .png over .jpg weren't the best decisions. :-)

chaoslab 2011-09-13 07:43

Now that the competition is complete I would like to once again thank everyone. Did get a Ubuntu (Linux) Box built and working on getting a solid framework for Linux and iOS so I can do a 3 platform release next time.

Now its all done I am working on the next project work title - Quantum Want.

Certainly influenced by my Ludum Dare #21 entry. Don't wanna give away too much but it will be more off the wall humor and hand drawn art touched up digitally and music.

Contemplating raffling some of original art works for a low price ($5-15 dollars each + Postage) and maybe limit the larger pieces to people that have completed the game. Figured it might be a nice way to connect and share a bit of the game with people in not just a physical form.

:-)
