I couldn't get past the introduction. It's so slow to the point of being unplayable.
Uh, it's not working (requires zlib1.dll).
Stunning idea! My only complaint is the lack of sounds. And it needs more enemies! Even so, good stuff!
This game is difficult. It's not bad, but... man, it's waaay too difficult. And the controls doesn't help either. The all-red graphics are terrifying, looks like I'm playing a Virtual Boy game, minus the 3D effect. A decent game, nonetheless.
Amazing game, very simple but yet so fun! A lovely Zelda ripoff. It's unfortunate that the game doesn't have any kind of goal but to collect more and more peanuts...
Dude, a game for Master System! I wasn't expecting that at all!
I don't know anything about programming for Master System, but that's quite a feat in my opinion. Very nice job!
It quickly became annoying. And I got stuck in a ladder...
Very nice concept. The music reminds me of Earthbound, which I liked. There's not much to do besides collecting F's and E's and shooting the B and the G's, but everything seems so random at first that when you understand what's going on, it's really a fulfilling experience. That's certainly the most interesting part of your game. Cryptic and totally different of the other games I tried so far. Well done!
It's unfortunate that you couldn't complete it, it's an interesting concept that could be developed into a great game. I'd like to see it finished someday.
I tried to play it but it crashed when I started fiddling with the options...
This is difficult. I tried playing it twice, and both times I ran out of air and died. There aren't enough dead bodies to collect oxygen cylinders. And I went through walls at least twice...
Well, I couldn't get past the second floor. It's an okay game, but I wish there were more to do besides walking through rooms expecting to find either oxygen or the stairs.
Brilliant. I think we have a winner.
I found a bug (maybe?). You can break the portal: just stand next to it and smash him for a while, it'll break and you won't be able to use it anymore, making you stuck at the cave. After breaking it once you're still able to completely destroy it, leaving just some particles behind. Kind of cool, actually.
@deepnight: I mean the TIME portal, not the door. :P
At the cave, you can destroy the portal, and it will stop working. You can press R to restart and it will be working again though.
Thanks everyone for the generous feedback! =D
@xra: Well, you discovered that it doesn't say that! :P
@Hane: I'm very sorry! This has been fixed.
I love the concept, very nice. The game is pretty difficult though. Each hit takes 1 HP from the enemy, and Microsoft Sam isn't really suitable for playing this.
Damn you, Microsoft Sam! I can't understand a word of what you're saying!
I love it!! Great work!
Great concept, nicely executed. Controls were terrible, though. Going up was really difficult... Graphics could have a little more of consistency (stars/powerups doesn't really fit the rest). Good job!
Doh! I didn't had noticed that P changed between phases. Okay, I finished the game. It's simple and easy (too easy, actually). Not bad, but you should work on more complex levels. Maybe adding moving obstacles, or something like that. Right now it's not very entertaining.
Good game! The bugs makes it almost unplayable, though.
Nice game! It doesn't have much challenge though. Online leaderboards would be a great addition to it, I think. Great graphics and music! Good job!
Pretty fun! I've found a spot where it's really easy to survive though...
99 seconds: http://twitpic.com/4vb1cm
This is really fun! Loved it!
I got stuck between the floor and a blue block, though... =(
Whoa, Pokemon meets Shin Megami Tensei. Loved it, too bad it's so short. I'd like to play more. Good work!
Great game, but it's so short! The ending was AWESOME. :D
Very nice! I really liked the fighting system, works really well. Good job!
Golly, this is really creative! Nice job!
Yeah, I'll have to agree with DrPetter though. It sounds unlikely that by coincidence two people will be playing at the same time, so I think that only a few will be able to play it properly. Still, it's a really interesting experience.
Awesome job, this game is great! The music is somewhat annoying though. The graphics are pretty nice. The puzzles could be more elaborated, it felt like they required more timing than thinking. I'd like to see this expanded, it's an idea with a lot of potential. Well done!
Really good, I like it! Reminds me of Twinsen's Odyssey for some reason. Good job!
Huhh... The music is from Zelda, isn't it? That's against the Compo rules.
Can't really say much here, as I were unable to play through it.
You shouldn't submit it until it's ready.
Grah, 94 tokens! So difficult!!
Uhmm, where's the source code? :/
Huzzah, a winner is me! That was really difficult...!
Great game. The level generation could be improved in my opinion, sometimes it creates really annoying segments.
Confusing controls, but the concept was neat. Really polished. Also, fabulous intro song. :D Great job.
Haha, bring me back memories of when I played Sonic Spinball on Genesis! Lovely game, albeit rather easy for my tastes. Well done!
Great atmosphere, the storytelling was really nice and the music was very good! It somewhat lacked on gameplay though. Some challenge would really improve the experience...
Fun concept, really liked it! The highscore submission seems to be broken... =/
Nice little game! The level design was rather shallow in some parts, but decent overall. Could have used some music...
My highscore was 211 =D
This has a great classic Zelda feel with a gameplay similar of King's Field, which is awesome! Great job!
"Tell me, what IS a bunny?" Hahaha awesome!
The graphics are really cute, and the soundtrack is fantastic! The gameplay was very simple and straightforward, but quite pleasant too. Well done!
The game randomly glitches and stops refreshing, so I can't see anything :/ Couldn't figure out how to avoid being shot either...
Lovely game! If this had online highscores, it would increase the replay value immensely... Nice work!
Very eerie atmosphere, I particularly loved the smooth animations. Sadly it`s very short. Nice job!
Oh lord I am scared. I'll never step on a spider again.
Heh, using the arrow keys and touchpad was terribly frustrating... The game is amazing though, I can't praise the artwork enough. There was some bugs, but they didn't really affect the experience. Sad that it didn't had music!
Still, you guys really did a splendid job here, congrats.
That was really great. Awesome story and voice acting. Seeing names from LD people made me smile. The minigames were challenging enough to make me replay a couple of times and try getting the best ending. Well done!
Great use of the theme. I like the part without asteroids =D
Very neat game. Awesome concept, really creative. The ending was kinda disappointing though...
What a fantastic entry. The graphics were simply amazing. The teleport mechanic was simple but worked neatly. I'd love to play more of it!
Very neat concept, but it's pretty hard!
A nice entry overall, your graphics are as charming as ever! The hints of plot are a bit too shallow for my taste, it gives too little about the story... Also, it needs some challenge to spice things up! :P
Still, a very damn good entry considering it was made in 5 hours!
Great stuff! The voice over was hilarious! The ghosts were way more difficult to deal with than the bosses, which were too easy (you can beat them without getting hit easily).
Very fun, but I wish the enemies' AI was better =P
Very good game! It's a lot like Super Meat Boy.
Maybe it could be harder ;D
Very simple and fun to play, but maybe too simple. I think the evolution of the enemies wasn't too important or explicit, it could be better explained what was happening on this matter. As far as I could tell, there wasn't much I could do regarding the evolution mechanic to plan a strategy or something like that :P
At first I thought it was too easy, but the difficulty curve is rather steep and it gets terribly hard to avoid bullets! I believe the shots are in random directions, so when it gets full of bullets there isn't a pattern or anything I can use to predict how to avoid them...
In any case, I survived 12 rounds and killed 188 enemies. :D
Nice little game although I think it requires more work to make the evolutions meaningful for the gameplay.
Damn that AI is difficult to beat. The best I could do was a double-KO...
Lovely game, simply hilarious. The theme song is awesome too!
Haha, when I saw "Steven Seagal" at the game list I hardly believed in my eyes. Kudos for the reference!
And then, to my amusement, this is not only the best Seagal game ever, but also one of the most solid games I've played so far. As many has pointed out, there's some Hotline Miami vibe there (might be the flashing colors), but it's also very different. It's really fun and challenging, it requires some serious planning and it takes some time until you manage to avoid getting everyone killed. The AI could be *much* better, though. Generally enemies will gang up against one single unit or get stuck in walls. But given the time restraints this was really well done.
In any case, bravo! You really should keep working on it! :D
Not much challenge there, seeing that the enemies doesn't really do much to stop you. Also, you can just fire arrows rapidly to kill anything pretty much instantly. The art was nice, but the music started getting annoying. There's a lot of room for improvements, but it's a nice effort so far.
Wow, this is pretty great! It's pretty hard at the beginning when you don't have any items, but once you understand what you need to do it's really fun =) Good job!
Not quite a game, but pretty fun to play with =)
Hmm, not working for me. It crashes right at the start. =(
Here's the log file: http://pastebin.com/1wNXai22
That's a really interesting approach on the TD genre. Pretty difficult, too. Nice job!
That's pretty good, congrats on your first project! I like the pace and the increasing challenge. Random levels are great, but I feel that maybe some pre-designed puzzles would be great. You also need some kind of indication whenever a block is over its base. That aside, the dragging doesn't work very well, I'd rather drag it all the way instead of moving it tile by tile.
Still, really fun to play! Would be nice for mobiles. Good job!
Hahah, this is amazingly bizarre. I wish it lasted longer :P
Sorry, my keyboard has no Right Ctrl =(
Oh wow, this is amazing. Really well done, the puzzles are well done and very challenging. Quite a treat for all programmers around. Good job!
Holy crap, this is fantastic! Awesome concept, and really nice implementation! Perhaps it would be better if the categories weren't so generic, though. Good job!
Haha, the announcer was unexpected, nice touch :D Sweet graphics! It's a bit too easy, though...
Pretty fun, would be great to play with Oculus Rift. Nice job!
Man you never fail to come up with interesting ideas :D Great game, took me a while to figure out what was going on. I still couldn't figure out how to escape from the spikes though... Good job!
Nicely written, it was interesting to see the results. Good job!
I like the graphics style! I wish it were more challenging though. Also, it'd be nicer if the submarine moved faster. :P
Really neat game. I think you should include a few power-ups, the game feels a bit lacking in options. Nice work!
Interesting game, but it gets kinda repetitive. Some variation would've been nice. I like the graphic style, very oldschool. :)
Very good! It gets repetitive quickly, but overall it's really well executed. Congrats!
Nicely done! Too bad it doesn't have audio, would make it much more enjoyable. Congrats on your first Unity game, bro! ;D
Nice game. I liked the the atmosphere and the vague plot. Pretty well done. And coded while in a treadmill, wow! Good job!
The mutant sprites was really neat. Very fun to play! I think shortcuts to pick the DNA pieces would be great. My highscore was 122 points. :)
Haha, spendid! It's missing some goal though, it doesn't seems to track which levels I've already completed (but to be honest I haven't finished all 10 of them to see if something would happen). Good job!
Awesome! Great execution for a simple concept. It's very fun and challenging =D
That was really good! The controls could be better (what's with the powerups at 1, 2, 3?) but it's not so bad that it takes the fun away. Played it a couple of times, my record was 57s!
I'm speechless, amazing game!
The concept is good, but it takes a lot of patience to go through. I also couldn't get past the level at the screenshot, the block always falls through so I can't get it to the switch at the middle. The music is nice, I liked it, and so is the art. Nice job!
Very fun! Great work, man!
This is fantastic! It takes some time to master, but once you get the hang of it it's tons of fun. Nice job!
The art is wonderful. The game was a bit lacking, it's too easy and short. Still, nice work!
Uhmm... no link and third-party music? Sorry but that's a no-no. =/
Very clever, I'd like to see a full game based in this concept. Nice work ;)
Phew, when I was almost giving up I did it! Hilarious game!
Haha, this is fun! Very solid idea, nice work. I couldn't beat it, it becomes pretty hard after a while. :)
Haha, I can't believe I got rickroll'd by a LD entry! Nice job, it's quite fun!
Nice simple game, it's great for playing on breaks. Pretty hard to play with a mouse, but sounds like it could be very fun on a tablet!
Oh wow, what a misleading title screen. The art style was sweet! Nice job, dude. Wish it had a theme song like Turtle + Wombat :P
Amazingly fun! The weapon and enemy variety is great. The art was fantastic as well. It gets hard pretty fast though, once enemies start popping everywhere. Great job!
The controls are a bit concern here, which makes the experience pretty frustrating. Despise that it's a nice concept, well done.
I guess this is what happens when you mix Zero Wing, Braid and Dark Souls. This is AWESOME! I loved it, well done!
This is pretty good! Nice graphics, and the music is cool too. It's kinda lame that the optimal strategy though is waiting in a spot and timing your jumps just right instead of walking around. Maybe you need something to motivate the player to move. The way it is now I can keep collecting money in a single spot until the 10s break, then I purchase items and get back to my spot, what doesn't make a much interesting gameplay. Actually, moving isn't even a good strategy right now because the character moves too fast and I always end up dead... Still, this is a nice concept and very addicting.
Also, Online scores isn't working for me, it just says "Fetch error" =(
OBS: Just noticed there's a post-compo version! Ok, I tried it and wow, it's much better indeed. Removing the 10s break was a good decision, and the improved hitboxes are great. Looking forward for new releases!
Haha damn, this is crazy. Most of the time I had no idea what I was doing. Actually, I'm not sure I know now either...
Here's some art (?) I made:
http://i.imgur.com/QNBdJog.png
http://i.imgur.com/6t2QxNU.png
http://i.imgur.com/Bt80siG.png
Interesting concept. Fighting the beasts proved to be much harder than I expected. Moving around is a bit weird, and dying by just touching the beasts feels a bit cheap...
That was really nice. Good job!
Cool concept. Depending on luck for the skill rerolls is a bit frustrating though... Still, nice job!
Wonderful graphics. You nailed the atmosphere, even though it doesn't have any audio. The level design was pretty great too! Congrats on your first game, and well done!
Also, you need to put a download link for the game source code, as per the competition rules. Please do so ASAP. :)
Wow, this is amazing!! The musics are wonderful, and the gameplay is incredibly fun! The use of the theme was kinda lame though. :P Still, one of my favorite in this LD so far! Good job!
The controls could be better, but it's really fun to play. Great level design! My record was 109 seconds. =)
This is actually really fun! Nice job, would be great for touch devices. :D
Ouch, that's pretty difficult. Sometimes I enter a room and I'm immediately hit by a passing enemy, without being able to avoid it. The enemies are cheap, some variety and a better AI would make it more enjoyable. Still, nice little game.
The concept is quite nice. It adds a necessity to plan ahead and be careful where you'll end up sleeping. Pretty funny, too! Nice work, I'd love to see a more polished version of this :)
I love the day-night transition! Funny and well written, well done =D
The graphics and music were a delight, I think you've nailed the presentation here! The controls are also super satisfying, but on the moving platforms it seems to get stuck a bit for some reason (I noticed this on level 16). The level design is pretty good, considering the simplicity of the mechanics.
I thought it was a bit too easy for me, none of the levels were much of a challenge. That being said, I wish there was some kind of measurement of how good you're doing (completion time, perhaps), to improve the replayability and make it more interesting.
It's not an innovative game. It's a tried and trusted formula which works very well and is fun to play. It's lacking something unique to make it stand out. Your previous games were also platformers and they're all very fun, but I'd like to see what you would come up with if you leave your comfort zone and tried something new. =)
I love tower defense, but navigating the maze was kinda slow and tedious, which took away some of the fun. I can't advance waves if I don't go through the maze to find the canons, even though with 4 turrets I can pretty much survive forever. The concept was neat, but the implementation needs some work. Decent graphics and music. Nice job =)
This is a fun idea, I like it! Too bad it's so short :P
The idea seems interesting, I always loved those sand game things! I'd like to see how this would work out, too bad it's incomplete. Still, nice job!
This is so addicting that I didn't even realize there wasn't a goal or score :P madcapacity said everything already, the idea is really fun, and I'd love to see a full-fledged version of this! The music was awesome! Great job!
The art is fantastic! Great effort, it's unfortunate it's not finished.
The controls need some work, but the concept is quite solid. Well done!
I like the concept, but the implementation needs some work. The controls are really frustrating. The level design could be much improved as well. Some levels had a much easier solution that the one that was clearly intended. This is nice when the alternative solution is clever and makes the player feel smart, but in this case it just felt like sloppy design. Most of the challenge came from the controls, not from the puzzles themselves. Freezing the pieces in exactly the exact position was extremely difficult, even though the solution was pretty obvious.
The graphics were good, and the audio was decent. I'm really confused by how the theme was used here, it seems like you totally forgot about it. I was disappointed that getting all the letters didn't added anything special to the ending, no extra level or dancing snowman or anything... Still, it's a nice platformer puzzler. Mixing Tetris with platformers has been done before, so it's not exactly innovative, but I like the approach you took. =)
Wow, the propulsion mechanic is pretty clever! Didn't thought it was too difficult to understand it, but I can see why people might have problems with it. I got all orbs, can I use my newfound wealth to fund the development of a full version of this concept? :P
Too bad it didn't had some audio to go along with it. Still, I loved it! Well done :D
"Awesome post-next-gen graphics. Too much water. 4.2/10 GOTY" - IGN
Nice and simple game, but for some reason the framerate plunges after a while, making it nearly unplayable. =/
A bit too easy, and the controls are kinda floaty. A chest spawned in front of the exit and I couldn't get the item... Nice graphics, nice music! I'm playing more to see all the items, heh. Great job!
Cool take on the theme, but I suppose my mind is used to this kind of stuff. :P
The only major issue I have is the colors, they hurt to look at after a while... Despite that, I guess an objective would've made this more fun I guess. Still, good work =)
The graphics are really good! I feel that the snowman should jump a bit higher, it's very difficult to avoid the gnome. It gets repetitive after a while, and it's frustrating that the Santa sometimes spend way too much time outside of the screen, so you just have to wait. Has some shortcomings, but it's quite fun. My best score is 32 =D
The graphics are nice, but everything is so gray! I'd appreciate some color variety there to make it less dull.
The biggest problem is the controls, it's way too floaty and irresponsive. Seriously, it's terrible. Also, the player seems to be affected by gravity... why? It doesn't make it more challenging or interesting, it's just annoying. Seems like an unnecessary addition for me.
Plus, I think the game lacks some novelty factor. The core mechanic is not exactly original, and I think that's fine, but it needs something to keep me interested in it. Maybe the machine on the top was a step in that direction, but it wasn't exactly interesting in any way, so it just... was there. It didn't make the gameplay better or more engaging.
Overall a decent game, but it desperately needs the controls to be fixed, and some general polishing would be well received. Still, well done for your first Ludum Dare entry =)
If only making games were this lucrative in real life :P
This is intense. Also, I shouldn't have played this while hungry, hehe. The graphics are quite good, and the audio is just fantastic. I guess the idea has been done before many times, but the execution was awesome! Had lots of fun! Certainly a must-play from this LD =)
Scored 338 points! I'm a M-M-M-MASTER!
Oh wow, that ending was unexpected, I like it. Interesting idea, although not exactly a "game" I guess. Are the "awww" and "boo" cues triggered somehow? For me it would only trigger the laughs every now and then.
Ugh, I accidentally reached the game end before collecting all items, so I had to play it all over again. :P
The Metroid influence is delightful. Metroidvanias are my favorite, so I might be biased. I loved it. Great art, great level design. It might be too easy, the enemies are very straightforward and don't pose much of a threat, and I finished the game without even using the missiles.
Only real problem I found is that you can't jump when standing near the breaking blocks, which makes getting a certain missile upgrade (the one to the right, under the red blocks) a very frustrating task.
Fantastic job! Congrats! =D
This is the Goat Simulator of the driving... uhh, simulation simulators genre, I guess?
I couldn't stop laughing the entire time. The car physics are a mess, but it adds to the hilarity of the whole. I saw the game title and thought you'd have implemented some kind of force feedback, but I did not expect that. Well done!
$396 was my best. Cool concept, it's pretty fun! Would be nice to have multiple levels with different platform layouts and obstacles like the forklift. The controls need some fixing though. Well done!
This is probably my proudest moment in gaming ever http://i.imgur.com/hl8tkX5.png
Hmm it was a bit too easy for me. Avoiding damage is simple once you get the hang of it. Before I stopped I scored 52200. It needs some variety to spice it up and add some challenge. Regardless, it was very well done. Congrats! =)
Cool graphics, very retro!
This is a seriously awesome idea, I love it! But once you get the hang of it it's a bit too easy. Maybe the enemies could roam the rooms while you're out of sight? I want to try the multiplayer mode sometime, sounds fun :D
As gquibao says, we tried to play online but it won't connect. :(
It creates the server and is able to find it, but it stops at "trying to connect".
Yeah, I tried playing with gquibao and another friend of me hahah :D
I did test opening it in two tabs and playing multiplayer, and that works fine, but we couldn't get it to work over the internet. =(
Ignoring the effect, at the core it's a very simple platformer. The controls are tight and feels good. The upgrades are nice, and I love, LOVE the nest mechanic. The graphics are really nice, but it made my eyes hurt after a while, not sure if it was the yellow background or the effect. The audio was okay, but it could've been better. As for the level design, it felt kind of uninspired, specially the maze part which I hate. :P On the other hand, the difficulty is alright, and specially with the nest mechanic, it felt like I was being properly challenged in just the right way.
Now about the effect... it is nice, but it really is pretty much just aesthetic, and doesn't affect much of the gameplay. It was actually a bit annoying for me, because it left this quite big area in my peripheral vision where every now and then I notice an enemy or something moving and get distracted. It's makes a very interesting visual, but I didn't thought it made the game any more fun per se, in fact I'd rather play without it.
The gameplay is a bit lacking, but the music and mood was sweet, nice job!
Interesting idea, but I think you could've used the growing screen in a more clever way rather than just a time limit. Also, it seems that sometimes you get stuck for no reason, which prevents you from chasing the bugs...
This is amazing. Seriously, if this were a full game with more polishing and content, I'd pay some serious bucks for it. It kinda reminds me of Half Minute Hero. I loved this. Great job!
Aah, the old days playing Harvest Moon just came back to me :D
Wow, this is really hard. The music is pretty rad! Why did you opt-out of rating Audio? My top score was 397 :)
It's interesting but maybe too easy. I scored 149 and I just lost because I got bored. Very charming presentation, and the audio really fits the atmosphere. Well done! =)
The gameplay was a bit lacking. The difficulty is kind of unfair, you need luck to get enough food/materials and sometimes the bombs just aren't in your favor... Still, the mood was really nicely done.
sanic stahp
my ears bleed
The color mechanic makes it really difficult, but it's interesting! Maybe tweak a bit the difficulty curve? Still, nice work!
Hmm, the enemy got stuck in a corner, so it was pretty easy to beat him. Nice concept and good presentation. Maybe you could expand it by having other kinds of units? Anyway, great job!
The idea is interesting, but it ends being more about luck than actual strategy. The same configuration can lead to a terrible or a fantastic result. So it doesn't feel like you have any control actually.
The graphics are nice, the music is a bit annoying but fits the game. The gameplay needs some work. More configuration options perhaps, like defining a colony structure or plan of some sort, or some way to control the crew.
Nice game. Has potential, but needs some work there. Btw, my score was 713 days, 15365 data ;) http://i.imgur.com/CPokPGV.png
Hmm, I didn't understand what's the use of the backhand hit. Not a big fan of the indirect control, but I understand it won't work for mobile otherwise. The artwork is pretty damn good! Nice work!
Hahah, great use of the theme! I failed miserably though :P
Congrats on your first jam! That was simple and fun, I like it. Got 92 balls =D
Damn, I managed to get to the last level, but seriously... http://i.imgur.com/iPTi6JM.png
I didn't like the slow cursor, but it wasn't much of a problem. The real difficulty comes from typing with a single hand (and the non-dominant one, to boot) while still avoiding a barrage of shots with the cursor.
The concept is fun, it's a good twist on the "learn to type" games. The graphics were fine, but I'm puzzled by why there's high definition icons in a Win 95 desktop. :P Good work!
The phasing mechanics adds some strategy to it, which is pretty cool. Needs some variation to keep it interesting, though... Still, good job!
Heya! I've beaten your challenge and scored 465250 points :) http://youtu.be/9tXmIO6RKjk
Using the flashlight as a weapon was a pretty interesting mechanic, and the multi-hit added a nice risk and reward layer to it. I really like the audio! Good job!
The collision detection is a bit frisky. Sometimes I get hit even though I'm not close of an enemy. The game isn't particularly innovative, but it's fun and simple. Overall, it's a pretty well made puzzle game. It reminds me of puzzle games from the early Windows 95 era, haha. Good job!
Half Match 3, half Snakes and Ladders and entirely addicting, good job! =D
Really cool! This should be longer =D
The combo system is a bit confusing, but it's crazy fun! The dialogues are hilarious, and the graphics are wonderful. Great game!
This is simply amazing! I need to get some friends to play this with =D
I played with the cat -
Weird victory condition,
but it was quite fun.
The procedural generation was really neat. Has potential, it's unfortunate you didn't finish it.
Whoa, a DOS game! Damn, this is fantastic! It took me a few tries to understand what the heck was going on, and the mouse controls is not exactly great. Sadly I didn't had a gamepad to test it with...
Man, if this was a thing back in the DOS age it would be so damn popular. Well done! My record was 6350 :D
I bashed a guy with a dildo for half an hour and earned $200k from it, maybe I should reevaluate my life decisions...
Really fun game, nice work!
Damn, this is really brilliant. Seriously, I absolutely love the concept. Very creative mechanic, although a bit hard to master, but once you do it feels AWESOME. But please, oh PLEASE change the controls. That button layout is so awkward and hard to use that it nearly ruins the entire thing.
I really like the idea, and I hope that you keep working on this and make it into a full game. Great job, congrats!
Oh man, that ending. I'm in tears. Fun game, fantastic soundtrack, graphics were good. I love how the music speeds up after that certain powerup. ;)
Don't be fooled by the "ran out of time" messages, you can actually beat the game. (I was fooled at first)
Cool concept, but I feel that it's one of those cases where the idea is great, but it doesn't quite work in practice. As @jormungandr said it's easy to survive. I'm not sure what you could change to make it more challenging without making it impossible.
The visual is quite nice. Only problem I found is that the color picker didn't work for me while on fullscreen.
Graphics and audio are amazing and super cute. I feel that the gameplay could be tweaked a bit to balance the difficulty, though. The only major problem I had was using the explosive toast, it causes the game to crash when the screen is full of invaders for some reason, making it nearly impossible for me to get a good score... Still, very well done, congrats!
I have no idea why, but the controls are super broken for me. Shooting wouldn't work at all using my touchpad, but weirdly it worked with my Wacom Bamboo.
It was difficult to understand at first, but it's pretty neat once you understand how it works. There's a few issues, though... Exposure only worked once for me, it revealed a few of the secret passages but the rest wouldn't reveal no matter how many times I used it. Shutter is not very useful at all, or maybe I just couldn't figure out where it would be useful. Also the whole "press E to equip camera" was confusing, it would be better if it was equipped by default (there's no reason not to). Sadly it was a bit short, and none of the puzzles were much of a challenge. I'd like to see an expanded version of this with more levels. Good job!
Not bad, but quite frustrating. Enemies will often spawn right next to you, leaving you unable to react and making you lose immediately. Also, it seems you have a finite number of cards/rabbits that recharges after a while, and for whatever reason it doesn't reset when you play for a second time, so you have to close the game and start again to be able to start with some ammo. Plus, the number of ammo is not shown, so there's no way to know how many cards and rabbits you have. You'll rapidly get overwhelmed by enemies as the difficulty increases, and because your ammo won't recharge quickly enough there's nothing you can do about it.
There's also a bug, if you use a card to kill the viking that the rabbit is currently following, it causes a fatal error and crashes the game...
It's kind of funny that the menu graphics looks better than the gameplay graphics. I wish I could play as the mammoth... :P The audio is pretty good, though. Nice job!
My best score was 3112. =)
Holy crap, I can't even believe I reached the end.
Very infuriating game, not only because of the bugs but by the extremely sadistic level design. The graphics are nice, but I realize they're not original. The soda gun idea is interesting, but I wish it had been used in a more creative way than just a "pellet shooter". The lack of audio is not a big deal. Sadly the length of the game is only due to its difficulty, because in fact it's very short (only two levels).
If you feel like putting your nerves to the test, this is the game for you.
Fun game! The aiming needs to be fixed though, it's too finicky and imprecise to hit the enemies. My best score is 77200 :D
Nearly unplayable in my laptop because pressing WASD keys disable my touchpad for some reason. I got to level 2 though. Graphics are pretty good, movement is solid but a bit too fast at 60 FPS. Overall, doot doot/10
Oh man, this was difficult to play in a laptop. I like the tranquil atmosphere, but I'm not sure how appropriate it was, considering the game story... I'd sure expect something more ominous.
The graphics are beautiful, and the background music was really good, it reminded me of the Chrono Cross soundtrack for some reason. The fanfares, on the other hand, were a bit annoying, and I felt it clashed with the relaxed feeling of everything else.
Physics was a bit clunky. It's hard to put in words but it doesn't have the tightness you'd expect for platforming. The camera doesn't help either. That moving platform was a challenge because jumping at it was tricky, and then when you landed on it it had no friction...
It was pretty fun exploring around and looking for the cubes. Too bad there's no actual reward for finding them all... Still, great job!
Wow, crazy cool! The game is simple but quite difficult. At first I wasn't able to get through the first level, but then I realized I could strafe, which made it so much easier. I only got to level 3 though, I presume that each level just increases the number of enemies until you get overwhelmed and can't continue further, right?
Amazing that this was done for a game jam. I'm making a PSX game for college, so i understand that it's pretty challenging. Awesome job! I should try burning this and playing in my PS1 sometime. :D
As I type this, your game is running on the background. I've reached ludicrous speed, and for whatever reason it doesn't seems that I'm slowing down. I'm well past 3 million meters now. :P
It seems that the gold trainer is very overpowered, as it doubles your speed and increases your vertical velocity (and, as long as you're airborne, nothing will stop you).
I like the cylinder effect on the background, but besides that there's not much to say. I'd suggest limiting the vertical speed (maybe add some kind of ceiling that'll bounce you down if you get too much vertical velocity). Either way, it's quite fun to play. Been a while since I've played Nanaca Crash! Good job!
The graphics are really good! Some attacks are hard to dodge, specially because their hitboxes linger there for a while when doing the animation, so even though you "dodged" it, the attack will hit you when your sprite slides back to position. I believe that makes it feel kind of unfair.
My best score was 20! :)
Hmm, not sure how to rate this. What an unusual entry :P
I don't use Python for gamedev but I can see this being quite useful, you should work on it and release for the community to use in the next LD. Good job!
This game was really something else :D
Good job as usual! The graphics were specially charming, and I love how it makes a tune when you walk and it changes on the boat. Wish I hadn't forgot where the link was for like 15 minutes though, hehe
That was quite interesting. I wish it was longer and had more variety of events and different types of upgrades. The idea is pretty cool, it has a lot of potential.
However I feel that the concept requires exceptional writing to keep the player curious and interested. I understand that English is not your native language, but the game experience would be much improved if the writing was more clear and interesting.
Also, it seems that the initial viewer interests are randomized each time you start a new game. The first time I played most of the categories were very low. Then the first event came and reduced everything by -15% leaving everything at 0% interest.
Still, I enjoyed it a lot. Great work! I'd like to see an improved post-jam version :)
Interesting idea for an idle game! Nice work with the graphics. Once you fill the screen with monsters it's pretty hard to lose though, as they'll give you extra time when they level up. I had 600 seconds left, then I got bored =P Good job!
Controls are a nightmare in my laptop because the touchpad stops working for a second when I press a key, making dealing with enemies a nearly impossible task... I understand that my laptop is the problem, though.
The game is seriously fun. Even when I wasn't making progress, just building up speed and walljumping around was entertaining. Speaking of making progress, I feel that restarting the whole game when the player hits an enemy is a bit harsh... Maybe a life mechanic would improve this, dunno. I couldn't get past level 3, so I don't know how lengthy the game is.
This is a very cool concept, and I'd really like to play more of this! Great work!
So I fixed that touchpad problem I had by remapping the X key to Ctrl using AutoHotKey, and now I can play it much better! (well, as good as one can play with a touchpad anyway :P)
Now I can shoot while I'm jumping, which changed for me how the game is played considerably. Now I absolutely LOVE this game. The recoil lets you do cool maneuvers, lets you ascend much faster and lets you avoid traps that normally wouldn't be possible. It feels awesome. Thanks to that I reduced my best time in Level 1 to 0:16 :D
I can consistently reach Level 3 now, but I still couldn't beat it (yet). Enemies are still tough to handle, but at least now I don't feel hopeless against them. Because of the recoil, if you shoot an enemy during a jump you're likely to lose speed and fall down.
I'll try again tonight to see if I can beat Level 3 (and perhaps beat the game). Again, awesome job!
Oh wow, I can't believe someone made a jam game using RPG Maker for PSX! This is impressive!
The game felt more like a novel than a game though. I know that using RM for anything more complex would have been quite challenging, but I felt bored after a while. Some kind of puzzle element would've made the experience much better. Still, very cool job! It's always very refreshing to see unusual entries like this :)
The scoring system really kills the fun. You're most rewarded for staying hidden and avoiding the heroes, but that's boring. Slaughtering them is much more fun! But then you're vulnerable, and will quickly die. Yes, there's health you can pick up, but each health point you have means one more hit you need to take until game over, and each hit means a HUGE (random?) amount of points lost! When I got my highest score, I had around ~650000 score before taking the last hit, which then reduced it to 286210. That's bullhockey! It's just arbitrary and frustrating.
There's a few problems I've found. In particular, the AI is bonkers. I've scraped past enemies unnoticed, moving right in front of them at times, but then when I'm hidden, doing absolutely nothing, enemies will just notice me for no reason whatsoever. Then, although the fireball explosion will usually kill the heroes, every so often they'll walk through the explosion unharmed.
The graphics are cool, in particular for the lighting effects. Not much to say about it otherwise. The heroes models are pretty funny, but you can barely notice them. The scenery could've been more diverse. I would've enjoyed exploring around if there were more things to be seen, but it was just trees and random walls. Also, I couldn't understand the HP display. Seems to be unusual for the sake of being unusual, it's not particularly clever or interesting.
As for the implementation of the theme, it felt very lacking. The player could very much be a human villain and it wouldn't change the gameplay in the slightest. Despite the slime model I was controlling, in no aspect I felt like I was a monster, and no game mechanics regarded nor evoked the point that the player was a monster.
Great audio, and the 3D sounds really helped in the immersion. Overall a very solid jam entry, great work!
Cool concept! Needs some variation to keep things entertaining, maybe some jumping baddies or power-ups. It has a very slow start, but then it gets fast and twitchy when you reach ~3000 size, making it hard to read the numbers. Not quite sure how to improve the readability of a number moving at that speed, though... The graphics are pretty simple, which is good to keep the player focused in the action. Overall, a pretty fun and solid game, nice job!
My highscore is 9178 =D
Oh man, this is WAY impressive for a PICO-8 game. Wow! I had some performance problems though, specially running in fullscreen, and the movement is a bit finicky when getting through small gaps. I was getting stuck all the time. Even so, amazing graphics and very fun game. Great job!
My best score was 91840. It's no 6x flip but oh well :P
Now I really do feel like a monster D:
Nice game! A bit simplistic though, you can just mash Space all the time. Maybe if you could pick different weapons it could give the gameplay more depth. Still, good job!
My best score was 59 :)
