LD27 — 10 Seconds

Sausage Gobbler by Entity2D 2013-08-29T04:48:00

Hmmm, it seems my last comment didn't go through?

Anyways, I watched a playthrough of this on N0_Named_Guy's stream and had to give it a go after. Very challenging, but very rewarding on beating it, like more retro, arcadey still games. Some pretty decent production value here too. Great work!

Nelson by MunkeeBacon 2013-08-27T18:31:00

Pretty engaging and enjoyable, but gets very difficult at Wave 9+. I think I only got to Wave 11. Controls were responsive and functional. I think there's a bug with the level not getting reset on death - or at least the meter graphic? Not sure.

Planet Monster by 01010111 2013-08-30T01:16:00

Amazing amount of polish and very tight Great audio and controls. design. Got a good strategy going and beat it. Challenging and rewarding. Overall, very nice work!

Planet Monster by 01010111 2013-08-31T16:53:00

Eeek, just replaying through and found a nasty bug! An asteroid had destroyed a turret while a wave was going through. I replaced it, but the enemies were still able to path through it like it didn't exist!

GLITCH by TravisChen 2013-08-27T06:20:00

Great, moody and visually disorientating. Love this stuff. Nice exploration with a surprise "DEATH" ending ;)

INSTIGATION by Steve Cochrane 2013-08-28T02:23:00

Overall a very solid and polished piece. Puzzle games aren't really my thing, but I see the effort, design and work put into it. I got up to I believe level 9 or 10. Audio is great too!

Chicken Snatch by tigerj 2013-08-30T00:26:00

Some really nice production work here. Overall a great experience. w00t! I got the best score so far: 174.

The Saddest Landscape by BradleySmith 2013-08-27T04:58:00

Very moody and atmospheric. Really beautiful audio. Interesting use of the theme. Funny little glitch: hold the jump button for awhile :)

sine by timtipgames 2013-08-26T17:36:00

Really well done game. It reminds me A LOT of Osmos and Eufloria. I assume they were inspiration for you? Graphics and audio were fantastic. Took me a bit to figure out what was going on in terms of gameplay/mechanics, and still a little fuzzy even after tutorial, but still was able to complete it.

10 Second Defender by boddiul 2013-08-27T00:11:00

Overall a fun experience. Good job! Does it go on forever? I pretty much maxed out my upgrades at the end.

Flooded Dungeons by ripatti 2013-08-27T06:57:00

Probably one of the most polished and fun games I've played so far. Great design work and gameplay here. Very impressive depth too!

Die very very fucking Hard by pereubu 2013-08-26T23:29:00

I love the visuals, but like others mentioned, it gets a bit hard... to look at after awhile, haha. Graphics were top notch. The controls were a bit hard to get used being use to things like Hotline Miami or Binding of Isaac where movement/shooting is separated. Overall, a great entry!

10 Seconds Per Meter by antonijn 2013-08-31T16:38:00

Interesting game. The inventory/shop thing seems a bit overly complex maybe. I was able to get to 0.08 after several tries and trying out the items. The theme is stretched a bit here... as others have commented. Good work!

Mission Mars by gre 2013-08-31T17:04:00

Interesting (and random) game. I got to the boss a couple times but could never finish him. Any tips? He eventually just spams like crazy with 100 balls on screen and kills me.

The physics and rooms are a little weird and unpredictable, resetting the whole game on death seems a little punishing for this fact due to all the trial and error. Overall, a fun experience for me.

Haraka by gikdew 2013-08-27T06:11:00

Great game here, but very frustrating, especially the last section, 2 pixel perfect jumps? Yikes. The movement and jumping seemed a bit off to me. Graphics were nice and stylish.

Did anybody else beat it? :)

Ab Solanum by doonay21 2013-08-29T01:04:00

Very enjoyable experience. Polish and content was very good. Very nostalgic of the DOS-era for me. I finished the game without even realizing there was bullets or bombs... I definitely need an achievement for that :P

Ab Solanum by doonay21 2013-08-29T13:35:00

Hahahaha, thank you kindly! Maybe I'll give it another run using the proper game mechanics :P

Flicker by lalanl 2013-09-12T00:01:00

I'll pretty much echo what most people said about the issue with controls and collision, but besides all that, it's a really good piece. It's a solid puzzle game that's a bit flawed by the glitches, but I was able to complete it and definitely enjoyed it!

Penny Shaking by PackSciences 2013-08-26T14:25:00

Wat?

Xyloctopus by iterative deepening 2013-08-30T01:32:00

Interesting and complex for sure. I think the complexity of controls hurt the execution a bit; however, the audio, design and visuals are all superb. I could not figure out how to get past the third level, can you please explain what I need to do?

Xyloctopus by iterative deepening 2013-08-30T22:33:00

Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure I tried that last time I played. I tried again today just to make sure, and now I can't even get past the first stage for some reason? For some reason, it would never count my notes towards the goal. I restarted the game, and I was able to get past it once again, and this time, I was finally able to get past level 3. So there must be some issue where it doesn't recognize notes. I'll update you and rate once I am able to complete :)

Xyloctopus by iterative deepening 2013-08-31T16:23:00

Really innovative idea, unfortunately I couldn't quite finish it - there was never enough plankton that spawned on Goal 8 level. Great audio, art and design. I've already shared my thoughts on the complexity and all that. Overall, a really nice piece!

When He Left by winesays 2013-08-27T17:30:00

Design and aesthetics are top notch as everybody has echoed; however, also like most others, I couldn't figure out the crystals at first. Brilliant effects and audio work as well, especially on the failure condition - really great stuff!

Film Leader by PixelArtM 2013-08-26T21:50:00

Good effort! The jump feels a bit "floatey" or slow and that bug that Dioiminik mentioned really makes it hard/frustrating to complete some of the stages. Unfortunately I couldn't beat/finish it.

Capture the Massively Multiplayer Online Flag! A Real Time Turn Based game that happens in increments of 10 seconds. by dcolgan 2013-08-27T05:31:00

I watched your stream for a bit and was definitely an interesting process with this one. Unfortunately, I don't think anybody was on when I tried it. Either way, good work!

Zero Gravity Free Runner release :D by Soundless_dev 2013-08-27T04:52:00

Eeek, I can't seem to play any level (crashes starting Level 1 or even the tutorial).

Get the seconds! by Rodrigo Robles 2013-08-26T14:20:00

Bah, I almost had it, was just a couple moves away! Was a bit hard to understand at first, but once I got it, was easy to get going. The concept is good though. Maybe I missed something, but what was the 10 seconds portion of the game?

Unstable Ground by avh4 2013-08-27T22:50:00

Rare to see LD games with story components, so props for that! Unfortunately, like most others, I couldn't figure out how to pass the 2nd level without cheating (reading), perhaps some in-game hints or directions would help this, or at least specifically telling the player to look at the failing demotion structure for hints. I finished it though!

donut panic by dlowe 2013-08-27T05:15:00

Tried out a bit of single player and multiplayer, but unfortunately couldn't figure out any of the game mechanics like stopping monsters from getting donuts. I also was lagging pretty bad, like maybe 2-4 FPS - not sure what that was about. Any hints?

Otherwise, props for trying out some multiplayer development!

CHRGNG PLS W8 by bonsairobo 2013-08-26T23:49:00

Overall a good experience. It loses steam after awhile, but was fun while it lasted. Bouncing triple shot for the win!

Polarity by Matthew Brown 2013-08-26T14:07:00

Interesting idea. I love the game mechanics. Simple, but executed well - especially the inclusion of chains. My score: 7680.

QuickHunt by MvdLaar 2013-08-28T05:40:00

Clearly an amazing piece in almost every regard. As most people have noted, the only criticisms would need to be made in the control and collision department. Otherwise, really beautiful work!

Hunger Clock, Literally by Vaughn 2013-08-26T23:11:00

@bonsairobo You actually need to collect all the apples to the win. I should of made that more clear. The jumping definitely needs some more tweaking. I choose to use dynamic jump height like in the earlier Mario games, but there's a couple weird things about it like I mentioned in my blog post: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/2013/08/26/hunger-clock-literally-post-mortem/

Hunger Clock, Literally by Vaughn 2013-08-31T14:48:00

@TobiasW Thanks for the resources for music, I have never seen this tool before. As I noticed, many players don't read the help section at all, or the description. I really should of provided the instructions and goals in the game. So far, I noticed players don't know about:

They start with three of the power-ups already.
The orange blocks give you a second, the spikes take one.
They have to get ALL the apples in the map.
All maps are beatable due to power-ups. I can beat 90% of the maps I play. The rest are stupid mistakes which cause an un-winnable situation (like going down to the bottom with no jetpack).

Lessons learned: Developers/designers think tutorializing is lame, but this is a perfect example of how it's needed, or at least a lot of on-screen instructions.

The Lost Robos by almightyzentaco 2013-08-29T03:48:00

Some very high level of polish here. Great game mechanics and detailing. Good use of theme to boot! Box collision/gravity was a little wonky, and some, erm glitches were afoot: http://screencast.com/t/Ry9t6FmObq

But that didn't stop it from being a super great entry all in all. I completed it all the way through. Some really clever stuff! Hard to believe the length rivals some commercial indie games. Great ending! Great work!

Forward Motion by Feysoura 2013-08-27T05:47:00

Fun little platformer! As many have already said, I seemed to run into the collision issues quite a bit, especially on the last stage. Overall, I had quite a bit of fun.

Final Glow by Yword 2013-08-26T13:52:00

Definitely some interesting mechanics here. Bonus points for the added physics and the visuals, although the final boss... was a bit weird looking.

Breathe by Fede3751 2013-08-26T14:32:00

Tried on Chrome. Good concept, but I agree with Hypnohustla about the background being a bit... distracting at times. Survived for 73 seconds. I liked how it got faster and faster.

Tracewire by Drachlen 2013-08-26T00:01:00

Definitely not for the faint of heart. Very challenging (especially levels 13/19/20), but some nice production here. Bonus points for level editing!

I Am Time Bomb by LegacyCrono 2013-09-14T07:51:00

Sadly I have to echo all the others. No friends to play with! From what I can play, everything seems very well done. Power-ups seem pretty interesting as well.

The Thief by N0_Named_Guy 2013-08-28T02:10:00

Enjoyable concept. The audio is a bit grading on the ears after awhile and the collision seems a bit off sometimes. Either way, I was able to beat it after some trial and error. Nice work!

Mercurial by sorceress 2013-08-26T15:11:00

Stylish and fun. Gauntlet portion was definitely the funnest. Unfortunately on my best run, I used up the gold key and got myself stuck indefinitely and wasn't able to finish the game.

Mercurial by sorceress 2013-08-26T17:15:00

Some additional things after beating it. It seems like a lot of my deaths were from a bug where you can't open locked doors in Gauntlet-mode. You keep trying and trying, and sometimes works, unfortunately by that time, the ghosts are ready to insta-kill you. That, and to beat the game, you need a very specific order of unlocking things in each mode, which can be frustrating since you have to play the game over and over to find that out. Again, still love the game though, enough to beat it, and comment twice :)

Lunar Rush by timmahh 2013-08-31T16:48:00

Pretty simple concept. I think I got to around wave 15? Not sure though. Would be nice to have a counter. I noticed some enemies would get stuck sometimes and when I died, I just kind of stayed there, taking hits, haha. Decent effort though for learning unity, keep it up!

10 seconds of hell! by djdduty 2013-08-27T06:37:00

Decent concept and execution. I know it has been brought up before, but I would have loved to see a real round-based game with an ending using the idea. Good work!

Jack and the Alarm Clock by Frozen Fractal 2013-08-26T23:20:00

Overall a great experience and entry to LD. Very polished and complete!

Time Flies Straight by mrspeaker 2013-08-30T00:47:00

Profoundly weird, psychedelic, and nostalgic. Truly, one of the best games in this LD. The exploration and visuals were truly remarkable as well as the weird humour, inclusion of Carl Sagan and time manipulation narrative. Great work!

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

A.R.B.F. by Zanzlanz 2015-04-24T06:00:00

Really great work here. There's some very funny weapon combinations going on. I did not expect the re-playability here either. Very cool! I did a playthrough of it on Twitch if you are interested: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585871

Beta Bot by Josh Riley 2015-04-24T05:48:00

This game definitely has some great depth and replay to it. I think some balancing and tweaks could be made to further the enjoyment for me, but otherwise it's incredibly solid. The mechanics, generation and gameplay are all top notch. I did a playthrough of it here: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585865

Crystal Ball Chaos by MoltenMustafa 2015-04-23T07:01:00

I really enjoyed the gameplay and mechanics (after I figured out how to hold to charge, hah). Had a lot of fun. I did a live playthrough of it here if you want to see: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585847 - I ended up getting a score of 279.

Stone Fighter by Julgodis 2015-04-23T07:32:00

The lighting and random generation here is amazing! Really good work! I cracked up at the "You are the worst stone fighter in the world." I had a lot of fun when I streamed this on Twitch: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585853

Spike Nut's Temple by AxeTheory 2015-04-24T05:55:00

I enjoyed my short time with this as I liked the oddness of it, it seemed strange to me. I'm not sure if that is a compliment exactly, but It really intrigued me, haha. I did a live playthrough of it here: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585866

DUPE by nicotuason 2015-04-24T05:21:00

The polish here is crazy. The audio, the graphics, the story, the humour, the mechanics. Just everything is great. One of the best I've played so far in LD32.

You can watch me get frustrated and fail a lot on my playthrough if you are into to that sort of thing, haha: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585858

Zombies Love Bread by lparker 2015-04-23T07:07:00

Loved the randomness of your theme. Was quite enjoyable and fun. Like the others have said, the controls and bread shooting were a bit sluggish for me. I did a live playthrough of your game here: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585849

Fatal Traction by NegaByte 2015-04-24T05:18:00

Really loved the mechanics here. There's some weirdness going on with the collisions at some points. There was also some issues with controls, my W could jump higher than the up arrow. But I couldn't move with A/D for some reason. It was really weird, haha. Anyways, I still really enjoyed it and I even did a live playthrough of it here if you want to take a gander: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585856

Monks: The age of reason by carlmartus 2015-04-24T05:40:00

One of the coolest games I've played so far in LD32. The art and graphics were really good - loved the style choices. I did a full playthrough of the game on Twitch if you want to check it out: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585862

Peanut by lucienpro 2015-04-23T07:19:00

Short and sweet! Loved the art and design here. I played it live if you want to give it a watch: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585972

Super Recoil Gun by cleitoneldorn 2015-04-24T05:29:00

I really enjoyed the game. I couldn't get used to the controls unfortunately so I mapped it out on my controller with JoyToKey and then I was pro! Haha. I even beat the game twice, once getting those extra items (I have no idea what they did though).

I streamed the entire thing here if you want to check it out: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6590513

Cut! by HighQuality 2015-04-24T05:24:00

I really enjoyed playing through this. Love the mechanics and art. Would love to see levels with the enemies we see near the end. For some reason though I couldn't get the audio to work - unfortunately I wasn't able to get it working in my live playthrough of it: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585859

Evil Alien Goo by Bastinator 2015-04-23T07:24:00

I checked out your game live on stream if you want to check it out: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585851

Unfortunately I wasn't able to complete it as I kept getting an error as I was progressing. I had some fun anyways by "cheating" a bit in console. Hope you don't mind! Unique concept for sure though!

Mutant Broccoli and Butterfly by pegno304 2015-04-23T06:49:00

Well, there's definitely some randomness/creativeness going on here on the concept front. Interesting to say the least. I did a live playthrough of your game if you want to check it out: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585841

SHAMPOO PLEASE by napedia 2015-04-24T05:37:00

Mouton by Noisette 2015-04-23T06:55:00

I'll mirror pretty much what everybody else said. Really great work here, especially being able to complete a multiplayer game for the compo. I had a lot of fun while streaming it. You can check out the vod here if you want: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585845

Bad and Breakfast by Krisjet 2015-04-24T05:44:00

Everybody loves bread! I really enjoyed my playthrough of this even though the controls took a bit to get used to at first. Interesting concept for sure. I did a live stream of it here: http://www.twitch.tv/drathy/c/6585863
