maaaan, this game is insane, from all the guys that used the theme "evolution" this way, you're the one that added it to the gameplay the more professional way so far.
The game is absolutely clean from any bug and/or problem and the art is shiny.
the roguelike style fits prefectly and dying is absolutely not frustrating ( in the bad way i mean ). Great job, i'm now trying another time to go to the top of the food chain !

well i didn't want to make a classic concept with evolution in the gameplay ( plus i can't programm it ).
My main goal was to represent evolution the way i think it.
First i wanted to make a gunfight between a man and a primate, but : first, the gameplay SHOULD have been unbalanced and this wasn't my idea and second, i came with the idea of having two apes fighting.
This led me to "2001 space odyssey"'s openning and to "Quest for Fire".
For me THIS is evolution. It's a fight that doesn't need beeing always the smartest or the fastest, it is also pure brainless violence like shown in these movies.
well i can try to make a single player mode later, but i also thought implementing a DDR-like gameplay, maybe in a fencing game ( my first idea for this ludum dare ).
as said, the gameplay is as complex as i was able to programm, and the theme is explained higher on the comments :D

Great use of the theme ! A few people did use the idea of the "everyday villain". Controls are smooth and easy, the gameplay is challenging. It took me a few seconds to understand the real goal, the "tutorial" i think, should be more visible :D Great job !

nice concept. I liked to play it except for one little thing I found irritating, it's because jumping gets hard when it comes to avoid higher obstacles. It kinda breaks a good flow.
I also found the idea with the waterfalls changing their opacity great. There's a lot of little mechanics that make the player play all along.

I like the concept a lot, it's an original iteration of the "push the box"-game and you found a lot of interesting ideas around it in 2 days, level design is really nice with a good management of the difficulty.
My only regret is propbably the art, but the color palette makes the game having its own aesthetic, great job !

First, thank you all.
I spent a lot of the last hours polishing the LD ( in fact, I was tweaking the shadow/light to make it unstable ) and
the other great amount of work was polishing the dashing wich i'm pretty proud of.
If by "Polyshing" you guys meant the stuck character when dashing, I tried my best to avoid it with no sucess, and it probably needs a way to parry or some other interaction.
I suppose I will restart this game from ashes ( maybe with a friend ) because I have a lot of ideas to make it even more fun to play :D
Well the flash is mainly used as an anti camp and a way to spot yourself.
The dash is in the inverted color for the same reason

Yeah, i was using samruai gunn a lot for inspiration, and i'm actually working on feedbacks for the post compo release.
The old version was 1 life only, but it breaked the rythm of the game too often, players usually wanna fight each other and hide only when necessary.
I'm actually trying to make the pacing slower to let the player think before attacking.
That game kept me playing a long time, I love it. The narration at the beginning is just hilarious, great job, probably the funniest game so far :D

For the art, I just don't like the fact that there's on one hand some very minimalistic aesthetic with geometrical shapes and on the other some limbo-like environments, they're both good-lookin' but don't combine well.

I was afraid too many people uses mondrian for their game, but what i played here is a nice concept. It is a great idea using the colors this way, nice job on the game design.
On the other hand, even if the art is inspired by Mondrian, it's very hard to catch its aesthetic. Becasue of this, the game looks a bit empty but i understand how hard it can be to combinate level design and art.

Aiming was a real problem. I was trying to make a game that could fit in an arcade with 1 stick and 2 buttons. I'll probably take some time rethinking the aiming system

Well thank you, actually, the original idea was to hunt the rare last animal of its specie. There's a rare animal you can find and if you kill him, his specie will extinct. The rest of the fauna is just here to be murdered as well, and only some mad players are actually finishing'em all.

Cool idea. I suppose it's highly inspired by Bit trip Runner but it kinda felt really different while playing it. As the others said, the feedbacks on the rocks/obstacles might be a bit poor but anyway, cool entry :D

The idea of starting a new level without any upgrade you got from the last one is kinda frustrating, I don't know if there's a way of keeping some kind of bonus from one to another in the same playthrough.
