I found it enjoyable! Loved the kind of mini-game idea. However, on the triangle level particularly, I struggled to keep track of MY triangle. Make the difference between AI and the player noticeable.
The concept was great! Racing against other microorganisms was a fairly cool idea. One thing that did confuse me though, was at the beginning: I started up the game, and I thought nothing was happening. It took a while to get going.
Awesome music, by the way! Better than my attempts. :P
Simple, but fun! It kept me playing until the end. Loved the music, by the way!
Found it great fun to play! Like previously stated, it needs some difficulty tweaking. Also: I'm not seeing any connection to the theme - am I missing something?
Somehow I got strangely addicted to growing those trees. Good job!
I found that rather fun! The graphics were cute and well done. Gameplay wise it was fairly good - I did have a problem with dying so quickly, then going all the way back to the last checkpoint. And damn - I sure have a lot of blood! :P
That "You are evolving" was so monotonous and surprising I cracked up laughing. :P
I started off wondering what I was meant to do, but I found myself wanting to learn about the character I was playing. Very grim mood, and that last guy had an important message. Also felt there was a certain subtlety about some of the meanings - for instance, the last guy blocking the exit. Nice one! :D
Haha, that was awesome. Had some good fun knocking everything over. I also seemed to make my own fun with the game - I started playing keepy-uppies with the ball, and trying to bounce it up the levels. See? Your game provided the means for a game inside a game. :P
Same problem as BlackBulletIV - favourited until later in case you fix it. :)
Neat concept, I could sort of see where you wanted to take it. I really appreciated the AI that you'd created - I could see the rioters all bunching together as a big group, the other people circling them as if to watch the riot, some other people dotted about just talking or... jumping ecstatically... even a little store with people looking at. You had a great atmosphere, just a shame you didn't manage to get the gameplay in there. Keep working on it, it seems like a novel idea. :)
Damn, that was awesome! Love the control scheme - it felt very fluid. Sometimes I found it a little difficult to press the buttons, since the finger wasn't quite in the right place. Very easy to get the hang of. Loved it. :)
Ah, I pretty original idea! Took me a while to understand what was happening at some points (like I wanted to place a shooting guy down on the first level, but it wouldn't let me; maybe have a locked icon to show you can't place it, or just not have the option to place it at all?). Gameplay wise, it was enjoyable! I liked tricking the hero into jumping into spikes and things - was fairly satisfying. I did find a bug however - I was flying low to the ground at the bottom of the screen, and I managed to place a special unit below the world. A good, original game! :D
Was pretty fun! I loved the cutscene at the beginning of it. I can see you put quite a bit of effort into those drawings, and I feel it paid off. It engaged me, as the story idea was pretty good. I also found the gameplay quite enjoyable, but I would say your graphical style seemed to switch quite suddenly, which was slightly weird. :P Good job!
Haha, I began this game dying straight away, and thinking "Hmm. Seems a little difficult...", but I stuck to it, and I regret thinking that, as the difficulty was just about right. It wasn't a walk in the park, but it wasn't impossible either. It's always nice when a game makes you think tactfully - aided by some pretty decent level design. I enjoyed the music as well. :) I would say that the graphics were a bit weak, but I guess it depends how retro you wanted the game to be. Well done. :D
Nice game! Real time strategy games are always pretty cool in my books. :) As you've noticed, it was a little difficult to understand the game. I played again after reading your instructions, and it was a lot more clear. If I were you, I'd edit those instructions into the main description for your game. Good job on the game! :D
Was a fun, novel game. Very hectic, and my brain sort of went "G-R-A-... uh... ah crap."
However, I'm not really sure how this fit in with the theme at all. I saw the man in the title and thought him to look a little sinister - is it because of half of your team being sick that you didn't get to fit the theme in properly? Ah well. Thoroughly enjoyed it, still. :)
Pretty fun game. :) I liked the graphics, and the reversal of a typical boss fight. I found it a little too easy though. You can just mash "Z" on the players and win. :)
Quite an eerie game - you definitely got the mood right. I found myself rather on edge trying to find the enemies. I ended up holding shift and spinning around on the spot. :P
I liked the design you went for with the lack of lighting - the way you lit up important objects made the game very easy to play. I also admire the small amount of controls - not complicated to play at all. Nice one!
Congrats on finishing your first LD! I enjoyed your game, and the progression in difficulty seemed reasonable. :) My right hand feels cramped from hammering the keys mind. :P
Haha, that was a cool take on the theme. Felt kind of good to be in control of a big mass of grunts - it was fun to watch the hero battle them all, and to interact in the fight in a simple but effective way. :)
Probably should mention that I'm playing on a laptop, and the resolution of the game was too big for my screen. A better use of space in game would fix this problem. :)
Nice quirky graphics style with simple gameplay. Nice! :)
Neat concept. Something like this could be expanded indefinitely, so I'd suggest if you have the time, go for it! I enjoyed it, and I'm sure with more content, it could become an interesting take on the puzzle genre. Congrats on your first game! :D
God, you're going to give me finger cramp with all of that mashing. :P Was fairly enjoyable anyway. And that devil cat's laugh made me laugh. :D
I enjoyed it! Took me a bit to grasp the controls, and it was a little too difficult. However, the graphics were very friendly, and the music was AWESOME. :D
Sweet game! Was incredibly polished, and had an interesting story (original! :D) and the gameplay was rather fun. Also, I always love to see picture-based instructions. :)
A good ol' fashioned text adventure, I see. The story was pretty gripping, actually. I agree on a way of speeding up the text.
I had some good fun with this one, thanks! Keep making games. :D
Best game I've played so far, seriously. This so deserves number one spot. I tweeted @McFunkypants to this game's link - I hope he gives it some more publicity. :D
Damn, that was sweet! You hit the tone perfectly, and I really enjoyed playing through it. I played it with an Xbox 360 pad, and it worked perfectly. :D
Pretty good. I felt a sense of achievement when advancing up a level. I did quite poor, and got to level 5, by the way. :P
For criticism, I'd say aiming was quite difficult (aiming towards the mouse cursor would have been better), and was it possible to dodge their sprint attack? If so, I never managed it. :P
Pahahaha. This genuinely felt like a gameshow. It was incredibly quirky, and had that hint of cheese with the contestant names. I liked all of the different deaths - very original! I would say however, that I had absolutely no idea what items were better than others, so it was really just a guess to see how many points I got. But in the end, winning didn't really matter all that much. Good job, I had a blast! :D
God damn, man! One of my favourite games so far. Ok, I sucked at creating a boss (attempted it... I had a guy crawling to the left firing wildly about :D). But God, you did all of that in 48 hours? Props to you, my friend.
Congrats on completing your first LD! Always a great feeling. :) I liked the custom made map that you created - it was fun to explore. Always a sucker for a good exploration game. Was pretty repetitive; I understand that you were going to add more, but ran out of time. Oh well, it's a learning experience! :D (P.s. SSSHHHATAtata...)
Cool concept! Like the others have said, I like being in control of a mass of zombies. It also had a hint of tactics with the police. I would say that the click radius could have been increased, as sometimes when I was pulling zombies around the area, I'd get stragglers that would just leave the group. Perhaps some little animations as well to make the objects look more alive. :) Good job!
Haha, I disagree with the last person about it not being fun yet. I enjoyed it. I don't know about anyone else, but I made up my own game of timing the fridge's "belly flop" just right to land on something. I may have also made a weird "WATAAA!" noise every time I did it. Maybe.
Fun! The big, green monster was almost cute. I felt bad killing of those knights. :P Cool graphics - I'm a sucker for simplistic stuff. Same goes for the music. That was nice and friendly. Very easy on the ears. :) Controls were a bit clunky, but I understand this was more designed for touch devices. :)
Wow, sweet game! It was highly entertaining to go stomping around the city. Good job!
Uh... take the fifth? :P
Anyway, thanks! :D
Thanks for the comments!
@Dark Acre Jack - each bottle is exactly the same as the other. I think you just lucky with that one - or you've got mad skillz. ;D
Thanks for all of the feedback! :D
@joekinley Thanks for the in depth comment, much appreciated. :) It fit in with the theme, since you're a badass, EVIL cowboy, robbing the saloon. :P Also, I agree on the music being annoying. I sort of wanted it to be like that, but I feel I may have made it a little too annoying.
@SecondDimension Yeah, the shootout was hectic, but that's sort of what I was aiming for. One giant mass of complete and utter chaos. :D
Thanks for playing. :) I agree cardboard, the flashing and shaking may be a bit much - I knew of the consequences of the flashing and shaking, but I felt it would detract from the theme if I removed them. :)
Haha, you speak words, supermaximo93! :P Totally agree. Wish I was good enough at creating music to do that, though. </3
@playvue Press the S key - it's in the instructions. :)
Thanks for the comments! :D @FinalMirage Hell yes it would. I'm wondering whether to do a post-compo version. If so, that'd totally be a feature. :)
Haha, your games suggests otherwise with how epic you are. ;D Thanks for the rating! :)
Yeah, balancing could do some work. Thanks for the comments! :)
Nice game! I found myself wanting to keep playing to find out all of the different mechanics you put in! And damn, there were quite a few. :P I feel some of the mechanics could have been used more to make it into more of a puzzle game, as I found that the game was fairly easy (even the falling level that the previous comment mentioned). Good job, anyway. :)
Finally got around to it. :P
The graphics to this game are so damn beautiful. Colour contrast between character and landscape are spot on, and the purples and greens to the landscape contrast to the rather dark undertone of the game. :)
Gameplay wise, I feel it could have had more to it. I liked the idea of it speeding up, and therefore becoming more and more hectic; however, I feel there could have been more obstacles, as the elves sort of just... took it on their chin. Would've thought they'd fight back a little. :P
Music was beautiful for a 48 hour game. Really enjoyed listening to that. Props to the musician. :D
I thought the game was pretty cool! It felt like an evil villain's base. :) The bots were a little weird. The concept of fixing everything was good, but I always died due to having sent all of my bots to fix a number of different things, and then something else breaking and me not being able to fix it as the bots were elsewhere. I still very much liked it though. Congrats on finishing something rather ambitious in 48 hours. :)
Played through it all without any problems. And I believe you are allowed to fix any game breaking bugs. :)
The jumping was a little too floaty for my liking, but the teleporting mechanic was pretty sweet. I'd have liked a way to skip that little intro animation of zooming in on your character, as after dying a fair few times, I wanted to get straight back into it, but couldn't due to the animation. Overall though, a pretty good game. Congrats. :D
Pahaha. That was great! Simple premise, executed excellently! Also, that creature looks hilarious. :P
I'm glad everyone's enjoying the game! I'll have a timelapse of my weekend done soon. :)
@Oye Beto - About the music. I unfortunately had to compress it down, as it took the game file above 10MB, and most Flash hosts don't like games above that limit. :)
Well I certainly wasn't expecting that. The little story that went along with the instructions made me laugh. :P Bloody difficult though. Managed to beat the first mob of enemies, but the second lot completely dominated me, haha.
Took me to figure out why I kept failing suddenly, then I noticed that the big bubble wasn't popping. Managed to get me to panic when I mis-timed a grab for cheese and the bubble was dropping far too low, so good job there! I would say the game is quite slow though, and you need a lot of patience.
An interesting little game with a nice message. The twist of screwing over the dots you tried to help was neat. Could've done with some atmospheric audio, and at one point I managed to get a 3 piece shape. That's not a tetromino! ;P
Addictive and very enjoyable. I was slightly confused by what to do to begin with, but after a little experimenting I got it and had good fun. :)
Great game! The whole premise made me laugh a fair bit. Managed to beat it on my first go! :)
Personally I think arcade games are the best way to go for LD, and this is one of the best ones I've played so far! Played a good number of times because it was so much fun! :)
Managed to shoot myself in the face to begin with, which was very humorous. Then I went for straight shots. Then I realised you could do cooler shots with the bouncing bullets, and I started to try and pull off the best shots I could. Nice! Gameplay was done very well, but I feel like the aesthetics could do with some sprucing, such as giving the ominous black squares some graphics. Some kind of notification as to which player is which would be good too. :)
Didn't find my soul mate, mostly because I found something much more awesome to do. Screw soul mates when you can do FLIPS in a BALLOON. FLIPS. That soul mate should be finding ME.
So yeah I found it quite fun, even if the main thing didn't entice me too much. Loved the audio though, really set a nice mood. :)
Damn, that was superb. To begin with I didn't realise you could cling to walls, and I was just sat there at the bottom wondering what I did wrong. But then I figured it out and it was pure awesome. Pretty much lovely everything - had a blast!
The first round I played was over super fast, so fast I didn't quite understand what happened. But after playing multiple rounds, I finally got it. Challenging (which is good!) and pretty aesthetically pleasing too. :)
Loved this! I thought I was about to play another slow-moving story game, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great concept and the graphics suited the gameplay very well. Good job!
Simple but very pretty graphics, and I quite like the story even if it is incomplete. It was quite eerie. I especially liked the "For once you are making your own choices" and all 3 options were the same. Very clever. :P
A very good game! You hit the mood spot on, and it made me empathise about what exactly I'd do if I also had $1 a day, haha. There were a lot of instructions to take in initially, but after reading I found out the game was pretty straight forward anyway. :)
Atmospheric is the word that springs to mind, and the graphics were astounding! Honestly I didn't care too much for the story as it was going quite slow, but the overall mood that it provided made for a better experience. :)
Stylish with very tight controls: didn't feel restricted while playing at all, which a lot of people tend to forget about for LD. :)
Thanks for the comments guys! I apologise for anyone not getting the audio to work - we tried our best to get everyone playing with audio, and in the case that it didn't work, provided a different kind of minigame anyway. :)
Added a web version for those on non-Windows machines! :)
Just being creative! Nothing in the rules state we can't make adult content - but just in case, we did add warnings around the place.
Great entry! Love the graphics, music and trying to guess where the elf is going to run to for me to cut them off. The only unfortunate thing is that I sucked at it. :P
This is seriously awesome! Game looks beautiful and I was completely immersed. I finished the game, and I'm not afraid to admit you got me. ;)
A fun runner game with a great aesthetic. I have a place in my heart for games that have digital hands pressing the buttons. I thought the controls were slightly confusing initially, but having them spread out on the keyboard does give it that "arcade cabinet" vibe. Good job! :)
Nice, relaxing walk around a mysterious museum. I enjoyed the voice overs very much, and the little twist at the end. I also managed to fling myself with a physics object, so that was an added bonus.
Had a bunch of fun romping about a desert from structure to structure. Atmosphere is nice and there's a lot of "unexplained mysteries" revolving around the environment.
I'd have liked there to be a non-inverted y-axis on the mouse, but that's only a small criticism. ;P
