LD24 — Evolution

Where am I? by AgentParsec 2012-09-09T18:50:00

My thoughts:

"Alright, that's some kind of grey room."

"Aaannndd more grey rooms."

"Hey, cool noise effect."

"What the!? Where did that corridor go?"

"This is getting kind of creepy..."

"Sheesh, it's getting dark in here."

"Alright, this room doesn't have any way out, now what?"

"OHSHITJESUSWHATTHEHELL!"

*faint sobbing noises*

So yeah, well done.

42 Stories by Priapus 2012-09-13T20:18:00

This is a fun little game. The graphics & audio are really great, the idea's fun and it's got a good sense of humor. The balance is WAY off though, I just zapped though it by building nothing but markets. Still, great work.

LD26 — Minimalism

RedShot by Jellycakes 2013-05-03T12:35:00

The graphics are pretty cool, but the game itself just feels a bit incomplete. I get that you're trying to be minimalist but just holding down the left mouse button and aiming at enemies just doesn't quite cut it in my opinion.
I don't mind the fact that you have to play several rounds, I do mind the fact that all the rounds are pretty much the same (there may have been slightly more enemies in later rounds? I'm not quite sure.)
The aesthetics, environment and 'menu' are all really cool though, so good job on that.

Dropblocks by Doctor Broccoli 2013-05-01T15:35:00

Thanks for the positive feedback! A number of you have commented that the game would be better. The reason I didn't put sounds in is because I've never really worked with sound libraries before and the LD isn't really the environment in which to wrestle with unknown libraries. Also, I'm not a musician. I'll keep it in mind for the next LD though!

Jolle: Yeah, the scoring's a bit *boop*ed. In hindsight I would've gotten rid of the ammo usage penalty altogether (either that or get rid of ammo.) The balancing between the different ways in which you can score points is a bit off, too.
I opted not to give the player a minimap for several reasons: One, I wanted the player to look at the main screen most of the time, not at some map in the corner of the screen. Two, I wanted the player to actually make the choice between planning ahead (which will cost you a couple seconds) or rushing into things (which might make you run into a dead end.)

AestheticGamer: Imagine the anchors as pillars on which the entire world rests. When a block is no longer connected to a pillar, it will collapse.

Rialgar: Originally this would've been a puzzle game that worked with exactly that concept. I chose not to do that, mostly because I didn't have the time to design levels.
I would still like to make that game though...

Alcazar: Thanks! But it's just guy, singular.

barry-cade by robertcalvert 2013-04-29T16:57:00

Love it! Good usage of the theme. Very clean and pretty looks. I maybe would've liked to see some inertia in the sideways movement and the font stands out a bit too much but otherwise this is a great game.

Zmore by mrspeaker 2013-04-29T16:51:00

Cool concept, it looks neat and it's pretty cool to scorch the landscape with my giant throbbing laser of death.
My biggest criticism would be that there is no real challenge to it. The game just switches from "frustrating" to "piss-easy" once you get the laser.

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Flajora's Flask by Cosmologicon 2013-08-26T17:04:00

Really fun game. Good sense of humor and generally just a fun little adventure game.

That one guy underneath the tree is a jerk though.

The Call by Yakka 2013-08-27T11:53:00

Really cool concept, It's just that it's damn near impossible to make a decision if you can't see the whole labyrinth.

The Value of Time by infernet89 2013-08-27T13:16:00

Really cool idea, I love the self-cooperation-aspect of it.

RGBaY by Temich 2013-08-28T17:59:00

Nice game but there needs to be some kind of warning for when a circle is about to go nuclear (like, they start flashing when they're past 8 seconds or something.)

Don't sink by Doctor Broccoli 2013-09-01T20:09:00

X-0r: Yep, that looks like it should work. It'll be very tricky to pull off, but it should work. Also: you just put more thought into this game than I ever did, so congratulations with that.

Don't sink by Doctor Broccoli 2013-09-02T17:33:00

Klianc09: Nope, I didn't actually realize that the game had environmentalist undertones until way after I'd submitted it. I just needed some way to balance out the power of building villages. Destroying the environment seemed like the way to do it.

Speedungeon by Xaychru 2013-08-26T18:57:00

Awesome game, but it definitely needs more checkpoints. Also, I think the timer should be slightly more subtle, it's a bit too excessive at the moment.

10 Seconds Per Meter by antonijn 2013-08-28T17:44:00

It was incredibly choppy to the point where it was almost unplayable. You might want to see if there's something hogging a bunch of resources here...

Ten Second Evasion by atrodo 2013-08-26T18:21:00

It took a while to figure out how this was supposed to work. The game seems to be more about trial-and-error than about actual puzzle solving.

10 seconds of hope by tobbez 2013-08-26T21:25:00

Not a bad idea but it's waaayyy to fast to be playable and it's really difficult to shoot the defense drones while also paying attention to the enemies.

BURN_TIME by nihilocrat 2013-08-26T17:42:00

Pretty difficult, but the look&feel of the thing is fantastic. I love the 2.5D graphics. Great work!

Lair Raid by Parappa 2013-08-26T17:21:00

A fun concept, but in the end the game just isn't quite clear enough. The player needs to know way more about the game (like what the classes are and what the different stats do) before the choice of party actually starts to become meaningful.

Don't let Them Hug you! by Jicken 2013-08-26T17:56:00

Some kind of cursor would be nice to have, I kept shooting slightly to the left. Also my PC couldn't quite handle the number of huggers. Maybe it's a better idea to add a fixed number of huggers every 10 seconds, rather than doubling them.

Cast Out by Seihi 2013-08-26T18:39:00

I had no idea what was going on here. The poor graphics didn't really help.

10 Seconds to Apocalypse by donfabio 2013-08-27T11:59:00

Fun game, and nice graphics. Unfortunately some of the sound effects were a little annoying (specifically the jumping sound and the noise you get when you die on a spike.)

Also, there is no way you can fit that much blood in one dinosaur.

Memory Groove by voltorben 2013-08-26T18:45:00

Looks nice and I really dig the audio. It's quite difficult though.

Lost in the Darkness by TobiasW 2013-09-01T22:01:00

Good game, the main problem I have is that sometimes it's not quite clear when the game considers me to be in a 'dark' area. The only times I died was when I was near an edge, waiting for the lights to flip when I suddenly died because appearantly I was standing on the darkness without realizing it.

Goranha by polskadot 2013-08-26T18:13:00

Fun little game, and the music´s awesome. I guess my main criticism would be that the text that pops up every now and again is a bit difficult to read while you´re playing.

10 Second Tactics by Schwiggy 2013-08-26T17:48:00

Great concept. I actually think this game would be better if it didn't have the timer though.

Yin: A Game About Happiness by Sanguine 2013-08-28T17:31:00

Dear lord, it's like Kirby got high and made a video game.
Well done, but I feel like it needs some kind of happyometer so you can keep track of your score while you're playing.

Robots Save the Day by udo 2013-08-27T09:09:00

Really neat game. I do feel like some things could be explained better though (like that you can turn whilst moving or that you don't need to face something in order to activate/kill it.) Still really good overall though.

Hyper Furball by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2013-09-06T08:00:00

I think I just got happiness poisoning. Great work!

Time Hack by quill18 2013-08-27T12:36:00

Impressive considering the circumstances. My main criticism would be that sometimes it was a bit difficult to judge whether or not a firewall would hit you if you stepped forward.

LD28 — You Only Get One

0 AD - Zombie Uprising by BrothersT 2013-12-18T18:49:00

Is this blasphemy? I'm pretty sure this is blasphemy. It's really fun though.

What The Sock by Spierek 2013-12-16T20:31:00

Really fun idea, I really love the graphics and audio. It's really really hard though.

The Only Journey by Cthulhu 2013-12-17T13:38:00

Aww, I wasted my time...

Destructoblast by Doctor Broccoli 2013-12-16T21:18:00

Sorry about all the crashes everyone! There was a major bug, but it's all fixed now.

Cat Gentlemans Play: Insult Spinner 10 Cents by RobotLovesKitty 2013-12-17T18:22:00

THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER.

Humanity's Last Hope by stenol 2013-12-16T20:06:00

Cute little game. I liked the sprites and the moving background. It really does get quite monotonous seeing as there aren't really any different enemy types or weapons. Also the fire rate is way too high right now, it makes it a bit easy.

Eggcited by intelligentbean 2013-12-16T21:30:00

A fun concept, I really like the graphics. My main problem with this is that the camera is too far zoomed in so you can't see the obstacles coming.

Cubric by noethis 2013-12-23T17:17:00

Good stuff, I like the graphics and audio. It was a bit short though and I think the puzzles could be greatly improved if you'd added the ability to do more than 1 move.

You only get one! (match) by Fenixin 2013-12-17T12:48:00

Really quite fun! The main problem is that on some levels the background is too distracting, making the platforms difficult to see.

Like a Ninja! by ColeSlawGames 2013-12-18T19:02:00

A decent idea, but way too difficult. The only way I could beat it was by memorizing the attacks, rather than by looking at the screen.

DISC-MAN by MMoffatt 2013-12-16T21:28:00

I liked the way the guys exploded.
The sounds were a bit annoying though.

Mr.Rect by Mindtricks 2013-12-16T20:23:00

Nice attempt, I like the idea of picking your own movement options. Too bad that you didn't manage to make it more complete. I hope you learnt something from the experience and better luck next time.

A Stone's Throw by scoobyben 2013-12-17T12:38:00

Neat idea, it really needs some kind of effect or animation when you die though. Right now when you die you just get teleported right back to the middle which is a bit confusing seeing as you're blind.

BOIDCAK by Magdev 2013-12-17T11:41:00

BOID GOT KILLED :(

PUSH by Patacorow 2013-12-17T13:24:00

Really well done. The sprites were pretty, the music was good and the puzzle design was absolutely fantastic!

L1ghter by quill18 2013-12-16T20:17:00

Really cool game. My main criticism would be that the chessboard puzzle is incredibly frustrating and relies purely on trial&error rather than actual puzzle-solving.

Monocraft by MaTX 2013-12-17T12:40:00

Fun idea. It's not really a game though, it's more like a toy. Not that that makes it bad or anything.
Really curious to see what comes out of this!

Rex Helianthus by Sytech 2013-12-16T20:26:00

I dig the graphical style, but the sounds were kind of annoying (especially the sound of the bug swarm).

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Connecting LD30 to the Real World by Will Edwards 2014-08-27T15:39:00

Hah, that's awesome. It's a bit of a stretch to call it a 'game' but it's a brilliant idea.
The interface could be improved if you went for a 'click-and-drag' sort of map rather than a 'click-to-move-here' kind of map. Also it would be nice if you could set your own location a bit more precisely.

Layer by Doctor Broccoli 2014-08-25T23:29:00

I'm fairly sure it SHOULD be 32 bit, though I don't have a 32 bit computer lying around here to test it... I'll add a 64 bit requirement to warn people for now and I'll see if I can create a 32 bit version tomorrow.

The Legend of Light by Yword 2014-08-26T14:56:00

Beautiful little game. I guess my main criticism would be that the music kind of got on my nerves after a while.

Provider Bob by Cryunreal 2014-08-27T16:08:00

It's a cute little game, but it got old really fast seeing as every world was a bit samey.

HopSlide by managore 2014-08-26T21:10:00

Lovely little game, the difficulty may be a bit too high but I love the style and the aesthetics.

cross World by gnuwind 2014-08-26T15:06:00

Oftentimes, the enemies would overlap, causing me to be unable to dodge them...

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Orion by feiss 2014-12-09T18:10:00

Aww, I never even got to press the random button...
