I just beat it, had a lot of fun playing it, well done :)
This was fun. I tried playing a couple of times but was frustrated that the computer was beating me so handily. Once I started to lose, I really wanted to start over, but I couldn't figure out a way other than reloading the entire game (playing the web version), which took a long time to load.
Seriously though, this was cool. I just wish it was easier the first couple of rounds, hard to tell what I was doing wrong.
Thanks for the comments!
@Porpentine: Can you explain about the assets? It's possible that they don't all stack right. It was a bit hard to get them all to match.
@Omaha: Yeah, we kinda forget a quit/restart-button. We'll check if it's still allowed to add that. We hope you managed to beat it though! We're still working on the difficulty and there's the problem that we already know the game too well...

THAT WAS FUN! Your assets must be huge because that took FOREVER to download. The idea is great and at the initial stages it feels like there's a lot of strategy. But once I got a little bit better than the other guy, I bought like 5 markets to exponentially get money and then pretty much went straight to the top instantly. So the balance needs a bit of work but I love the idea!
(No idea about the link to the theme...)
Graphics are great, by the way!
Man, I'm Godlike and Awesome!
Enough said.
Nice work, man!
I just missed seeing all of the tower, like if you backed away the camera or something :)
Overall, one of the coolest games I've played so far!
Haha. My first story was a gun platform. Kept upgrading it until the enemy could not build above level 1 anymore. :D
The Zip file says it is password protected, and the web version takes too long to load.
Not sure about the balance, I finished my tower very quickly. But this is a very unique idea and the graphics are great. Good job.
Winzip has the password problem, WinRar extracted it properly. Winning seemed to depend on how early the enemy builder would make a offensive structure. I followed Materie's strategy and made my first story a gun platform and won without problem
I wanted to write a comment, then saw @omaha wrote exactly what I thought.
"Seriously though, this was cool." Good job!
Great game. I don't think it fits to theme, but maybe it's just me. [Winning strategy: build the shooting thing first and keep it upgrading. Enemy has no chance :).]
A lot of fun. Took me a minute or two before I realized, "Oh, you can upgrade buildings"
It's a fun and well made game, but it's kind of broken. After a while you can start mashing the market button and you're generating money so quickly that you can just keep clicking and you'll win. Still, not a bad game at all. Well done.
excellent work!
Quite a fun game! I do have one complaint about the way game works though... if you build an attack tower first, and then just upgrade it a couple times, you effectively cripple the other player right from the start, as they can't build anything without it being destroyed. I'm not sure what you would do to counter this, but for the moment once you figure that out it makes the game less about strategy and more about who clicks first.
Very fun game. I found it kind of easy, but I have played many games like it. Very good artwork.
I liked the game, well, it should be nice to have the costs of each building and upgrade, and more info of the right side...
I suspect that the big size of the game is because of the music, and you should change this, the game took like about 30minutes to load XD
I got a bug, the money was -123

Love love love the art! and very fun to play!
Alright, this one really got to me. Loved it. The art style is obviously superb. The gameplay is so nice and simple.
This is a great piece. I've played it multiple times already and showed it around.
You don't need me to tell you how awesome the art is!!!!
The gameplay might need some drawbacks or synergies between the three kinds of towers. As in, no income for the shops unless you've built living quarters, or some penalty for building too many cannons too early.
Or maybe even being able to combine two things in one slot, like multi-classing. A cannon+market = cannon that can also generate income. More possibilities for strategy may discourage making the second storey a MAX cannon.
Also, possibly, being able to build in both directions (above ground and underground).
These are my design thoughts.
Very very fun game!
Clever idea- first one to build a gun wins basically though. That does not feel super balanced- makes the game very easy. I enjoyed the art and the tower building-
Lovely idea, graphics etc, but very easy. As said ^ you can guarantee a win by building a gun on the first level. Quickest win I've found is gun, 5 markets, then upgrade the gun to top level. At that point the opponent is basically dead in the water, you can upgrade the markets and then just keep clicking to building housing all the way up.
It might be more interesting if the guns cost more, or any other way to discourage a max-leveled cannon on first story, either needing housing to staff the cannon/shops or fires from destroying cannons (spreading upwards, taking out a number of floors).
Great potential here I think.
First, congratulations. Its big what you do here. I love the graphics and sound too. I think the game must be balance, and somethings are confuse, but, Its a great work, no doubt.
Wow, this looks amazing! Like it's ready to be published. Music is also very cool. The gameplay is simple but not bad. I can see there is some need for tweaking the balance; in the beginning the computer shot always everything away, but when I destroyed his military story, he never recovered and I went unimpeded to the end.
Incredible.
Cool concept :)
Awesome sound and art, great game.
I love the graph and the idea of towers. The strategy is simple (make a canon then upgrate it again & again, and finally make 41 houses) but I like the game. If you balance the gameplay, you can do something very good!
Brilliant game. Simple but very effective game mechanic (you have to plan ahead carefully). As others have said, the AI isn't that great, and there are a few breaking strategies. Could be a great Android/iOS game if the AI was a bit more clever, or amazing as a multiplayer game on web/desktop (please do this!). Graphics and sound were beautiful. Not sure what it has to do with the theme though...
This is a fun little game. The graphics & audio are really great, the idea's fun and it's got a good sense of humor. The balance is WAY off though, I just zapped though it by building nothing but markets. Still, great work.
Nice concept and beautiful visuals! It really is way too easy though, but I think you can make this a really fun game with some balancing, IA enhancements and maybe one or two new mechanics to make the interaction between the towers a little more complex. I'd love to see a post compo version of this one, drop me a line if you ever make one! @pixel_cows
Was way too easy though. Just build a cannon as the first tower and it will shoot down anything
the game is amazing. Great work!
The graphics and sound are very good, they have quite a Monty Python feel to them :) The game is interesting, but like other people have said, a winning strategy is to build an offensive tower and then keep building marketplaces until you have loads of money.
Also it would be nice if the costs were displayed somewhere, especially after upgrading!
