LD24 — Evolution

Tower Evolution by DBRalir 2012-08-28T01:01:00

This was really, really nice. It could've done with some instructions as I just kind of blundered about at first, and knowing what each of the upgrades did would've been handy, but I really would love to see more tower defence games with this kind of mechanic. You really are onto something. Great work.

TOWER of Evolution by SiENcE 2012-08-28T22:10:00

Really like the art in this. The environment looks fantastic. The sound was really good too. Also, you got a chuckle out of me when you turn into the thing with the speech bubble. It really is impressive that you managed to animate so many sprites in such a short amount of time, too.

Dinosaur Survival Bash!! by Orni 2012-08-30T18:26:00

Really nice, fun game. I felt like I was a Pokemon, which was great. The art was really nice too, although I noticed some tiny mistakes. Stuff like just flipping the sprite to do left/right movement. That doesn't work because the lighting swaps sides and that looks a bit weird. Still, that tiny gripe aside it's a really nice game. Good job.

Untitled Tower Game by chuchino 2012-08-28T01:22:00

There was a jump I absolutely could not make on the level where you get the slashing ability. The one near the bat and the snake with the two ropes and the ledge. I'd been enjoying the game though, the controls were mostly really nice (the ladders were a bit finicky but not offensively so). The difficulty was super satisfying too. It felt difficult, but whenever I died I felt like it was my fault rather than the game and that is usually good sign. Really nice work.

Deal with It by midgard 2012-08-29T12:58:00

I got to level 2 before giving up. Super hard. Died about 50 times. Really well made game though. Controls are tight and do what you want, which is basically all you can ask for from a platformer.

Create This by Lobster Games 2012-08-30T18:31:00

You have no idea how long I was laughing for at the final boss. The game's polish and execution might've suffered because you only had 12 hours, but it was still hilarious and fun. Good work.

Dragonom by Kinokochan 2012-08-28T09:52:00

The game itself was a little on the clunky side. The movement felt a bit strange, and it was hard to aim the spell because you only have the standard mouse. That art and music was super super super nice though, and I got a few chuckles out of the writing. Really nice work overall.

Hunt'em! by Zamando 2012-08-28T16:47:00

MANKIND IS THE GREATEST KILLER OF ALL

Absolutely amazing art. Some of the best I've seen in LD ever. Really, really nice.

evolving by pjchardt 2012-08-28T16:41:00

This is a really, really interesting idea and I think given the time frame it's super well made. If you were to make this into a bigger project, I'd probably like to have more control over the shape and movement and stuff, but it's a really cool idea that's been executed pretty well. Nice job.

Cubevo by NostraDamon 2012-08-28T15:56:00

The art and audio are real nice, but I wasn't a huge fan of the actual gameplay.

The Unravelling Of The World By A Man Made Monstrosity by Starmen 2012-08-28T10:46:00

The dead sound is suuuuuper loud. I can turn it down if it's getting to be too much of a problem. The coding situation towards the end got a bit awkward where my partner who was doing that stuff couldn't actually test the game, so the volume stuff is a bit messed up.

The Unravelling Of The World By A Man Made Monstrosity by Starmen 2012-08-28T16:19:00

@ Dadeyemi - Yeah, I know that you can do that. We were trying to stop that by putting the light machine gun guys in the last room and that absolute mass of assault rifle guys, but unfortunately it just didn't work out that way. Thanks for the nice words though.

@ABPositive03 BEEP.

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-08-29T17:51:00

Super nice work. Really amazing atmosphere, graphics were fantastic, and it's one of the few HTML5 games I've played that has felt this good. Really nice work.

Oculus Battalion by Maxium 2012-08-28T16:00:00

This was quite fun. The mouse movement felt a little bit off, but wasn't particularly too bad. A little bit more enemy variety might have been nice too. Really good stuff overall though.

Out of the Sea by Uberi 2012-08-28T09:23:00

I'm getting a crash on launch, Windows 7 64-bit. I've bookmarked this though as from the screenshots, this is absolutely my type of game.

GeometryEvo by dvdking 2012-08-28T17:34:00

I quite liked this. The spelling and grammar weirdness makes for a bad first impression, but something about the art style and the music and what not make for a surprisingly captivating experience.

Eden by BumpkinRich 2012-08-28T22:25:00

Really well done. The puzzles are so well designed in this.

Camouflage by kirill 2012-08-28T10:06:00

This is the best game I've played so far. It's really, really, really, really, really good. You've probably nailed the Evolution theme better than anyone else, the game was super fun and I laughed a bunch while playing it. Quality work.

ROCK EM SOCK EM DARWINS by turkwise 2012-08-28T17:24:00

Game of show. 10/10. Winner of 40 E3 awards. (I did genuinely enjoy it. Good job).

Yellow Dog by Barry Abrams 2012-08-28T16:17:00

This could've done with slightly better pacing. Either make it all move faster so that I have to be super active or make it move slower so that I can do other things while I watch the dog grow. I really like all the mechanics though, it felt like the old digimon toys they used to make where you had to raise you're own little monster thing. Good stuff.

Cellvolution by thewiseguy99 2012-08-28T09:18:00

Nice and simple, but still quite challenging on the later levels. The movement felt a tiny bit slow but aside from that, I really enjoyed it. The music combined with the background and what not made for a really eerie atmosphere which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Darwin's Little Pink Worm by wumpus 2012-08-28T10:31:00

I really like this. The game itself wasn't exactly perfect as the controls felt a tiny bit too loose, but the core concept and the writing really tie it together in a nice way. This sort of thing would be a perfect multiplayer game.

Anyway, really good job.

rEVOLution by TwilightFlandre 2012-08-28T00:35:00

I enjoyed it. It plays quite well and was really fun overall. Some of the art could've done with a little bit more polish (the chest and the apple stand out in particular) but overall, well done.

The Highbred Pixel by monomanio 2012-09-03T20:37:00

God this is pretty. Really, really love your art style. I love it so much.

Evolution Heroes by Rubel 2012-09-02T22:52:00

The hit detection seemed kind of broken to me. I couldn't hit anything at all.

The Fromagist by ABPositive03 2012-08-31T00:20:00

That's.. not.. what I expected to happen. (Ending SkO). Great work though, really nice little adventure and also presented really well.

Not sure if it's down your alley, but you might want to look into Inform 7. It's a text adventure engine that a friend told me about recently and, based on this, you might enjoy using it. It seems really powerful and has an "else if" style thing, I think.

The life of Cat by Amoaeba Junior 2012-08-29T17:42:00

This game gave me feels that I had no idea I could feel. Really good job.

The Evolution Of Stars by Dadeyemi 2012-08-28T16:26:00

Really well made entry. Incredibly relaxing and pleasant to play. I couldn't seem to make anything other than a Protostar/Brown Dwarf but it was still fun none the less. It was also surprisingly educational, which is always a bonus. Only minor criticism is that the bar at the bottom with all the writing on it took up a little bit too much screen space, but otherwise really, really nice. Good job.

Tiktaalik's Tale by _AM_ 2012-08-28T09:47:00

Thoroughly enjoyed. 10/10.

Reckless Abandon by clavicarius 2012-08-28T09:34:00

I agree with what a lot of the other commenters said in that I found the controls a little bit too complicated for this type of game. I also didn't understand the difference between all of the various attacks. The audio and graphics were quite well done though. Good job on those.

42 Stories by Priapus 2012-08-28T17:18:00

It's a fun and well made game, but it's kind of broken. After a while you can start mashing the market button and you're generating money so quickly that you can just keep clicking and you'll win. Still, not a bad game at all. Well done.

Invasion by epriestley2 2012-08-28T15:48:00

Quite a nice game. I think some extra polish on the visual end would've been nice. The player sprite seems weird compared to the rest of the game because of the difference in scale. The idea is nice though and the gameplay seems really well executed.

PEB 2012 by madpew 2012-08-31T13:52:00

A fun little game. It got mad towards the end, with like 3 balls coming at me at once from all different directions. A bit of a loose connection to the theme, but a good entry none the less.

NICE SHOOT by ambushsabre 2012-08-28T16:07:00

Really nice work man. The way the weapon stuff works is super cool, although some indication of what each colour does would've been nice so that I could pick stuff that was appropriate to the situation I was in. Really nice art and sound, too.

NICE SHOOT by ambushsabre 2012-08-28T17:36:00

Oh! I'm an idiot. I take back my criticism and just say that it is a good game then. Well done d:

Boxy the Boxcat in Evolution Escapades by matthias_zarzecki 2012-08-29T12:52:00

Really nice work. It's sort of like a 3D metroidvania which was quite nice. Good job.

Evoroid by ahnimal 2012-08-29T13:03:00

I like the art a lot. It's a very simple and clean art style but it works very well. It's a nice idea too. Could've done with a bit more time, but overall it's a good entry.

TONE by DGoodayle 2012-08-28T11:37:00

Really nice game. The controls work really well, and the graphics and music are just amazing. Those blocks that require two hits are a little bit annoying but other than that, really fun game.

Space Ham by FunByJohn 2012-08-28T10:26:00

Considering you made this in such a short time, it did feel really polished. Nice one.

Infect by Timster Studios 2012-08-28T10:10:00

there wasn't that much strategy involved which is where it kind of falls through. the music was excellent though.

RED PLANET by BuffaloPhil 2012-08-28T10:21:00

I absolutely loved this. The atmosphere was perfect, and the writing was mostly really good (a few mistakes here and there but nothing too bad). If you were to make this in a wider time frame, you'd probably want to make all of your graphics make sense as currently the perspective of the character vs the environment was a bit disorienting, but that didn't stop the game from being amazing. Really great work.
