Shit! It's evolving by fruitfly 2012-09-01T17:55:00
Impressive raycasting 3d-ness :)

I liked the dying ahhhhrrr voice sound the most :)
Also, the rules require you to make all the content during the 48h - I wonder if that's the case for all those character sprites?
Wow, nice one! Great gfx. I liked the tree so much, I had to have a go at my own tree, lol: http://styts.deviantart.com/#/d5cuwcw
What was annoying is when you were turned at a slightly wrong level you would not hit your enemy and get killed very quickly, so I never made it beyond the firebreathing level.
Also, nice particle effects on the fires.
I'm bookmarking this one ;)
Wow, really hard game. I wish there were checkpoints. Could not complete the 1st level (next time maybe make the progression from easy to hard more gradual - to pull the user in.)
Nice gfx and music though, although I had to squint.
Cool and geeky idea! I like the theme interpretation.
Maybe I would have liked them to evolve faster - it takes a while till it gets exciting.
Also I never managed to evolve complex "snakes" like you have in the screenshot.
Re. your comment: you are not supposed to eat food to survive, but to change your color to match that of the island as close as possible.
Thanks for your comment though, all the previous ones made me believe that the concept is intuitive enough for all to "get it".
The off-screen thing is a bug: I was going to make a "you got lost" screen but ran out of energy/time.
Wow, like this entry a lot. The theme is well-interpreted!
Played till the end - lots of fun.
What could be improved: it was annoying to have to punch-pet Mendel so much, and I almost quit at the beginning, before having figured it out, when dialog was not progressing.
The dialoges/writing are a good idea in general - help established the mood properly.
Wow, what stunning graphics!
Wasnt quite able to really figure out the gameplay - I could lay traps to damage the guy but how to heal/protect him I don't know really.
Good that this had music as well. The concept is quite innovative too.
Thank you Starman for the startling review :)
Nice to know that you get my interpretation of the evolution theme, I was a bit worried that some might argue it's more "adaptation" than "evolution".
This entry is what I think has the best theme implementation from what I've played so far:

Thanks for your kind comment, it's the first feedback I get on my game - and it feels great.
A fun game :) Couldn't beat the small monkey... also, jumping doesn't help here much :)
The pink sprite background was showing for me on Mac OS.
Hey, very well done game. Good pixel graphics.
I'm glad the dog never died on me :)
The pooping-12-times-in-a-row glitch happened to me too - you keep a queue of onlick events or something.
Nice moody music (how did you make it?)
Good gameplay, just wish the baseline speed were a little faster.
I like that the objects fly at you all the time - makes it difficult.
At some point I had to adapt my strategy - when you know color will change soon, you can stop chasing your current color and focus on either of the upcoming: anyway a nice feeling that it's not too simple.
Finally, completed. (Got killed by the last enemy on the previous try).
Really nice that you had a solid victory screen - felt like my efforts were not in vain.
Thanks for your nice comment, btw :)
First, brilliant writing!
There were some technical difficulties: the large text screens seemed to be hanging-up a little. Also these large text screens did break the mood a bit - the smaller ones inside the levels were not as intrusive: a nice touch.
Maybe such a story-heavy game would have benefited form some voice acting ;)
Greetings from fellow pygamer.
A very interesting game! Innovative.
I wish I knew what I was doing (which chemicals do what). Also, the battles take rather long.
It's amazing that one can make a Android game in just 48h with those tools you used!
Ran smoothly on HTC Desire. Completed the game (without a single defeat).
True, once I've read the Help and knew what to do, I won pretty quickly.
But with an AI it could be a very interesting game indeed! And I'd love some music and sfx to set a friendlier mood.
Re. your comment: the off-screen thing is a bug: I was going to make a "you got lost" screen but ran out of energy/time.
Re. getting killed while being on land: there's a small lock icon on the island that indicates safety from flood, I guess you didn't see it :(
I too like p&c adventures, but this one is not very playable at the moment. I tried clicking the various actions but only the sleeping in the bed seemed to work.
What I did really like though is how the walls were drawn - cracks and perspective.
Also, having just an OSX version does not do you a favor.
Congrats on the nice graphics.
I also especially liked the death screen and animation.
Also, I'd like the dialogs to be non-blocking (skippable) - useful when playing a second time.
Nice polish and attention to detail.
Oh, a fellow pygamer! I'm trying to run and get a crash with this error:

Check out my game - It's packaged with pyInstaller - hope it avoids platform incompatibilities like here.
Nice little game! I had fun.
You did a good job with the internal states: going back and forth in the menu/shopping/pause/etc.
I wish the graphics were a little bigger.
With so much vertical screen space, I expected it to be used somehow (enemies or HQ growing)
Hey, a very interesting concept! Rather unique.
Graphics look polished too.
Nice :)
My fav so far! Beautiful graphics, high attention to detail.
A well polished game, fantastic job!
(didn't finish yet - keep getting killed)
Very nice game! So much polish on the graphics, wow!!!!
Extra thx for the gfx video - I'll have to study it.
There was no sound for me, I'll just assume there is none :/
0. Nice post-mortem post!
Wow, a nice and fun game! Funny too :)
I think the graphics look good too - practice makes perfect :)
The gen. music is not bad at all.
Loved that being a video game dev is a perk (aren't those broke by default?) haha
Does not really fit the theme... although... there's no evolution without reproduction, right? :)
Like the theme: enemies evolve abilities.
Are those up-down enemies fire hydrants? :)
Ps. the way the player moves is sliding, like he's on ice ... didn't fit well with the feel / setting imho.
Evolve by eating shrooms. Sounds like Terence McKenna :)
It's a fun game. Very difficult though.
Most well executed theme I've seen so far !!!
A beautiful game to play: quite fun :)
I tend to clean them all out and then start small, isolate, kill-off with lightning and viola!
What could be improved would be a tutorial - maybe a few demo moves or something - not just a bunch of text.
ps. sometimes they just don't want to mate no matter what... (with just 2 left). a bug?
Nice game. Liked the audio.
A well-done tower defense.
Does not seem to go beyond evolution stage 3, right? (wave 1 it says for every wave).
Loved that there are so many types of enemies. Many things are animated (but not everything). Pretty blood particle effect.
