lovely game!
ok; should be fixed. i was making some quick bug fixes and updated the jar. i guess, the problem was related to that...
@Vordux: Did you click on the window to focus?
if it fails for someone, could you tell me your used java version in case you know. Java 1.5/Java 1.6...
To be on the same side, I have recompile it with Java 1.5 compatibility level.
@entrusC Thanks, the post on so helped. actually makes sense why it works for some and not for others. guess, they must have different audio codes installed that examine the audiostream for the format.
I change the code according to the top-answer in the post. I hope it will help.
Regarding your questions: Yes, everything was done within the 48 hours; including the raycaster. And der sources can be found in the jar together with the binaries. For the non-java people: A jar is just a renamed zip-file.
was rather confused by the game. but i guess it was the same for the people that meet the real messiah. so, great mood! :-)
uff; this is a little hard. and reminded my of "super meat boy". which is good! :-)
just searched for "meat" in the comments befor pressing "save": yes, not the only one that is reminded by it... :-)
man, this is actually quiet hard. was not able to get up the zig-zag path right after the water. anyway, nice feal to the characters jump.
the side-view of the character in combination with top-down levels and controls was a little confusing at first.
i like the initial animation that scrolled to the player start-position.
this is hard. had anyone completed the game?
anyway: great idea and execution. also like it how the screen shakes when the creature moves.
nice. i loved super mario bros. but actually harder then the original.
I played this in the dark with headsets. this is what I call good horror and suspense! No monsters or anything that; just great sound and suspense!
It is not really close to the theme but this is definitely one of my favorites...
did not really get what i have to do and why i can evolve the cubes but the graphics style is nice. also the sound is relaxing.
the best game i have seen so far.
the pixelart is amazing! you did all this in the 48h? i am impressed!
I love the animations of the entities; espcially the bird and the tail-wacking of the dinosaur. I love the ending. I love the general fell of the controls and the mood in general. i think sound could have added a lot to this; but hey: its only 48h and you have to compromise on something if you have such high-polished pixel-art...
had a hard time getting what is the goal of the game.
really liked the music though. did it yourself?
controls don't seem to work; pressed almost every possible key but no reaction by the character. also trying firefox and chrome did not help.
like the graphics style.
i won :-)
so simple, but so addictive. nice game.
what i did not like is how the bubble often appear from nowhere. i personally would find it more fair if the always fly in from the top or bottom border of the screen.
always nice to see what difference fullscreen mode can make for a game. liked the overall tone of the game.
a very art-like game. i did not know what i was doing, but i continued doing it because it was quiet relaxing and interesting. nice music.
it took me some time to get that i can drag the stones/ice with the mouse...
as most people commented: it is quiet short but visually a treat!
you should provide a seperate zip for the actual game. very hard to find the executable in the folder-structure of the visual studio project...
download is quiet slow...
27 minutes remaining... then you get a rating :-)
weird game. i like it a lot! :-)
also, very nice how the camera follows the players movement with a delay.
this i actually quiet hard. nice pixel art and feel to the game. very nice controls.
you should host the game on dropbox or similar. the download i was getting was a setup.exe and was not sure if i clicked on some wrong popup and might be actually downloading malware now...
so, did not play it, if the setup.exe was the actual thing...
this was great... and sad at once!
really, really enjoyed the jumping-animation of the cat (of the young cat ;-)). just felt great. well done!
like the visual style of the game alot.
i don't like the sounds and music very much. graphics are nice though.
(wall) jumping doesn't seem to work for me.
I think the game needs a description. Was not able to find out what the goal is. The devil looks funny, though :-)
Error: "You need the August 2008 DirectX update in order to run this application.". OS: Win 7 64 Bit.
only see the blue sky appear after the menu. nothing else... (at least it is the same color as in the screenshot). let me know if you can fix it; will rate then.
oh: I don't see any error like "BMacIntosh" but the same operating system.
can you maybe recommend (if there is) a web-based snes emulator? might help to get a higher exposure and more ratings...
nice feel to the game (style and controls). did not understand though, if there is a goal. just seems like new enemies a spawning forever...
the game is quiet slow in pace. not so much for me.
i like that you did it as a browser game. too many entries still require to download an executable.
Get an error telling me MSVCP100.dll is missing on my system.
now it is complaining about msvcr100.dll
congratulations to your first completed LD!
i think the game would feel better if you could move the player faster. also, sometimes the key-pressed seem to not be detected and he game seem to hang for a second or so...
like the controls, graphics and general feel to the game. just plays very nicely. add a nice soundtrack and you have a jnr that can take it up with mario or giana sisters.
same as others. win7 (64 bit) and java 1.6.
liked the text-based level and a lot of diversity in general.
like the chiptunes. any good tutorial on it that you can recommend?
great game. feeling inspired to try to get a raise tomorrow ;-)
great visual style and gameplay. looking forward to see the sources. still polishing the up? :-)
for me it says "hotlinking not allowed" when i click the "Web" link.
really would like to play but don't have Java 1.7 at hand...
it is easy to see that you have experience as an artist. even though it is a simple visual still it feels consistent and really nice looking. like it a lot!
you definitively should follow up on this concept after the compo. nice pixel art (especially the character animation), nice sound and a great overall feel.
you must have been working until the last minute; no time left to make the character turn right? :-)
really nice game from the graphics style, sound and game idea. love the round-based movements. though takes some time to get used to. sometimes stood still to wait for the red cube to move away until i remember nothing will happen until i move :-D
there is a nice mood to the game. i guess it is the "snow-flakes"; feels like winter and I love winter :-)
love the visual style of a somewhat "2 1/2 D" Jump-and-Run. I have to remember this for a future LD myself :-)
i dig the palm swinging with the wind!
like some others: no fan of "find out the controls for yourself". even though if you say it is not hard, think from the perspective of someone that knows nothing of the game: how do I know I have found all controls. it is always the feeling of playing the game and not having discovered all features; at least for me.
but visually a great game!
nice game that you have to play alot to finish. or you have to be able to look in the future ;-)
the ambient music is not mine though. could be more "aggressive" to fit the game...
the old game concepts are the best. you cannot do anything wrong with space invaders for me. loved it. plays nice: nice controls, nice alien movements.
but could not find so much that the aliens are actually evolving; seemed more that they got easier; but that might also have been just the perceived impression as you get better over time...
nice sounds and graphics style. character feels a little to heavy for me. would maybe improve gameplay if the character was a little more "sportive" :-)
one of the best games i have player so far: good mix between polished graphics, sound and actually matching the theme. liked rather surprising ending. nice!
the game is actually quiet hard. might be due to the complex controls...
nice though that you did it from scratch without using any frameworks.
getting quiet hard :-)
the level-completion-sound is a little "agressive" and makes me always feel like losing the level. but then i am happy to see the next level beeing started :-)
