LD24 — Evolution

My Pairs and Me by Evilion 2012-08-27T12:17:00

Had no clue what was going on, but it had it's charm. A bit buggy character physics at times.

Microraptor by robcozzens 2012-08-27T10:16:00

Seems like a nice start, I like your dinosaur model alot! Some wing flapping action would be nice.

The Darkness Evolve!! by juaxix 2012-08-27T09:46:00

I couldn't really play it because of the camera and the sound. It's a pity, because it seems like a cool idea.

Battle Evolved by TobiasNL 2012-08-27T10:37:00

Incredible! Can't believe the effort you put into this, but it really payed off. I found the control to be a bit wonky sometimes, the strafing mechanic is hard getting used to.

Other than that, THE best entry I've seen so far.

Deal with It by midgard 2012-08-27T15:02:00

The game was challenging, yet not too hard. Graphics were nice and clean, but the controls were a bit unusual, they worked pretty good in conjuntion with the levels though.

Machine Evolution by linkzns 2012-08-27T20:09:00

Can see that you put a lot of work into the graphics - that art style is unique and great!

Rise of the Morbels by Cosmologicon 2012-08-27T09:25:00

The game was cool, something unexpected that simply worked, however, it's frustrating to have to wait around for the morbles to move into certain positions before you can interact with them to complete your objective. It would be cool if there was some kind of pushing system or something similar that would facilitate that.

I like how you see the world evolve around you though, and I must say the audio was excellent! I would've liked to hear some different music than just that one track though.

By the way, you should consider uploading the game on something similar to dropbox so that people are able to access it easier, I think this could result in more plays and comments which your game deserves.

Evolution Defense by franklyn 2012-08-27T20:01:00

Nice game, but I think you might want to consider changing the audio volumes, the pew pew from the tower went through everything else which isn't really feasible in a game like this.

Cubevo by NostraDamon 2012-08-27T13:23:00

A soothing and open-minded puzzler. What more could you ask for?

Sad thing is that I got stuck in a wall after grabbing the third key :(.

LimiT by Sakuyan 2012-08-27T20:06:00

Cute game goes freaky! Very nice indeed. I really like the small details like the fact that you have to face stuff to be able to eat it.

Blobolution by Gallefray 2012-08-27T14:10:00

Would've been nice to have continous player blob motion, and it's a bit annoying that the other blobs are able to escape the screen, but I'm happy that you got the AI working properly! Vectors FTW!

DNA Wars by nka 2012-08-27T12:21:00

A very nice game indeed. It's a nice twist on basic tower defence, a genre I generally hate. This game was minimalistic yet still strategic enough to keep me interested. Very well done!

You Made them! by garygreen 2012-08-27T14:00:00

What on earth did I just play? It was pretty hard to navigate with since you could both move and rotate the... thingy.

Evolution Stew by vede 2012-08-27T13:41:00

Nice one! I'm a big fan of unexpected games like these!

Tileshift by ioquatix 2012-08-27T16:09:00

The game is very interesting, but it gets frustrating when the enemies spawn only a few tiles away from the player. Also, their movement speed seems to be completely random which killed me unexpectedly once or twice.

Unlikely Companion by alyphen 2012-08-27T10:53:00

I really liked how it felt like an actual adventure!

Geomelution by Sh1rogane 2012-08-27T09:49:00

Was pretty fun, pretty difficult. I really liked the "Become a perfect circle" goal, that's pretty funny. Seems like you put a lot of effort into creating the music, I think it might be just a tad over the top though :).

Dawn of the Opposable Thumbs by Hatsun 2012-08-27T09:35:00

Unable to run this locally for some reason. Might want to upload it to dropbox or something similar?

DrinkMilk by Ditto 2012-08-27T12:28:00

Very nice game! I found the controls to be a bit tough getting used to until I realized how they worked exactly. The only problem I have with the game is that it's a bit hard to know wether you can eat another centipede or not.

Dusty Balls by ThatSamu 2012-08-27T12:31:00

Had trouble understanding the control and how the wall climb worked. The game has a nice setting!

uni.bb by IndigoWolf 2012-08-27T13:08:00

It works for me, but I'm unable to do anything after /run.

Tried stuff like /create space, /create SPACE, /create(SPACE)

But nothing works :(

A Castle in the Desert by FoxFiesta 2012-08-27T12:19:00

Getting the same error as agersant :(

Darwin In Space by Misericorde 2012-08-27T09:08:00

It's a bit on the easy side, shot down all priest on my first try :). While the sprite graphics are pretty nice I would've liked to se a more detailed background!

For your second game ever, it's really good.

Death Cell by fohx 2012-08-26T22:17:00

Cool little game! I really liked how the game of life resulted in me learning certain "weak spots" on enemies which would destroy them without causing huge explosions. I also really like the artstyle you got going on, it fits the game.

What I would've liked to see would be some more gliders in the start, since they are very easy to dodge, and you rarely have to shoot. Also, the explosive thingies are pretty hard to dodge, so I never made it very far.

On another note: My browser (Latest chrome) thinks that it's missing the unity player plugin when I browse HTTPS:// sites instead of HTTP:// for some reason. If you change it to HTTP:// directly in the URL it'll work fine with dropbox and users that have the same problem will be fine.

Sustenance by pardue 2012-08-27T12:35:00

Interesting concept. The game became a bit dull while waiting for the background to change colour, maybe a couple of enemies hunting you would be a nice addition?

Other than that, I really liked how those small colour blobs moved around, they felt organic somehow.

blob by pknowles 2012-09-01T06:53:00

Really cool artstyle, but it felt like every single game was decided by if you could reach the green goo without dying first.

PEB 2012 by madpew 2012-08-27T14:14:00

It bugs me that you're almost only able to catch one ball from each wave :P. Also, I'm not sure what it has to do with evolution. But it had ingame commentary! Loved that!

A Matter of L and D by phren 2012-08-27T14:02:00

Pretty confusing at first, but it's nice to see a simulation with so many parameters.

Rise of a Colony by Folis 2012-08-27T18:14:00

Graphics are actually very nice even though they are so simple. The mine might be an exception to this though :P.

"Natural" Selection by r4m0n 2012-08-27T13:37:00

Faster ships would make the game more enjoyable!

Bacon by RandomM00 2012-08-27T10:28:00

I liked the minimalistic look of it, combined with the arena combat it made the game pretty enjoyable! Sad that there is no sound though :(.

Planets by bodsey 2012-08-27T09:53:00

Really nice presentation and artstyle, I really liked how you had to do some planning in order to get the highest score.

I had some problems with the launch strength indicator though, it was pretty hard to tell how charged it was since it's so blurry. Also the gravity felt a bit too strong compared to the most charged shot (Maybe I was doing something wrong :P).

The Balance by mr_Hk_ 2012-08-27T09:32:00

It's a pity the gameplay was pretty lacking. Artwork is brilliant though.

Super Conga Kat by steve 2012-08-27T09:42:00

The game crashes after the press space-menu screen :(.

Shroom by danlthemanl 2012-08-27T18:22:00

It was nice to look at and run around in, the damage indicator s on the spiders were a bit confusing though.

Complexitivity by Accidental Rebel 2012-08-27T15:43:00

A sleek game. Interesting mechanic and setting. The artstyle was very clear. I think that each platform element could be slightly larger to create more well defined holes in the ground if that makes sense.

Sprout by cadin 2012-08-27T13:45:00

Pretty good, would've liked to see different properties of each different plant stage gameplay wise to add some spice.

Project "E" by RobProductions 2012-08-27T16:20:00

It felt like a couple of the puzzles required some unecessary backtracking, and they were pretty straightforward, but that's a nice puzzle mechanic you got going on!

I think the level design could've gained from some baked lighting, since the flat shading doesn't really convey the 3d space all that well.

Biovolve by Cryptix 2012-08-27T14:03:00

Reminds me a bunch of chips challenge. Nice work!

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-27T01:03:00

Fair enough, I added a little control spoiler for the people using dvorak and azerty and whatnot, or those that simply are in a hurry.

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-27T10:14:00

Thanks for all the comments guys! I'd like to point out that the controls are rebindable if you download the Windows or OSX executables if you're having trouble with them.

Adventureloop, That's too bad, had someone else having the same problem yesterday. Not sure what I can do about it though since I'm using Unity :(.

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-27T17:58:00

Davidllano22, DustyStylus. Assemble your stuff and muse on the problem :3.

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-27T17:59:00

Oh, and search for semi-hidden areas. Also: Grass.

Dawn by SteelRaven7 2012-08-27T20:20:00

"it is always the feeling of playing the game and not having discovered all features; at least for me."

That's exactly what I was aiming for :). About the controls not being hard to find was the fact that they are lined up beside each other on the keyboard. I realized that many players don't have the patience to try finding them, so I added a control list (with the keys only, not the functions) on the webpage to facilitate for these people.

Evidently by jamioflan 2012-08-27T10:47:00

It was pretty fun, slighty slow paced though, until eventually turning into a huge police chase.

The fun feels a tad underpowered and slow which drags down the experience a bit.

Gobblegoks: Evolution by pighead10 2012-08-30T22:39:00

Pretty nice gameplay, but I find it a bit annoying that projectiles collide with each other, it has a tendency of drawing out battles with ranged fire for a long time.

Really like that there is a bunch of strategy and different ways to tackle the game though, ups the replayability a whole bunch!

Good game!

Human Evolution by emveyh 2012-08-27T19:56:00

Nice and smooth with retro graphics, what's not to like?

I must say I found it a bit disorientating when I exited one level and was placed on a totally different spot on the next one without warning.

A New Kind of Man by Khayet 2012-08-27T13:32:00

Pretty cool that you choose between different evolutions and how that impacts the gameplay, but the level is far too short to explore it properly.
