This is more like the 'build it then use it' theme than tiny world. You've created a lot of game here hats off to you! I didn't like restarting on 1 life and this was really off-putting but otherwise a very nice game, the control scheme was very interesting! being able to put pieces anywhere and not have them connected to the map made the level building feel a bit weak as i could just place pieces anywhere and wait fro the right one to come up.
Bravo! One of my favourite types of games done really well. Great work in pretty much all departments.
I enjoyed this, there was a lot of interesting complexity with very few units. The attack waves were pretty neat. I got to a stage where I couldn't seem to get my power over about 1500 and the game became a little static. I think that was because I wasn't sure of the power relationship between the units so didn't know how to get that little boost I needed.
I really enjoyed this! I wanted more levels to play! Good use of clear unambiguous graphics to convey gameplay meaning.
Nice clean graphics. Using the ball to get coins was fun!
Great work for a first Unity game! I would have made the ball go a bit faster.
This was pretty interesting. Once I found out I could run, it was a lot more enjoyable! I liked the 'splat' when you killed the blobs. I liked the ambiguous nature of the game. It felt very mysterious. It would have been nice if there was some acknowledgement of finishing the game. Once I killed the big blob I couldn't see anything else to do. Pathfinding was really great, did you use Unity's new pathfinding stuff by chance or did you roll your own?
Great Game! I simple concept pulled of with great polish and style! Very addictive, I wanted to keep playing. Good use of procedural generation.
I really liked this game, I was surprised t how satisfying revealing the world was. I also enjoyed using the map's landmarks to guide me subtle but cool game mechanics.
After meeting the guy in the middle and being told I had to reveal the entire map I gave up because I felt it would take too long to finish and the game got a little dull after that because there was no pathfinding goal anymore.
Nice work overall!
Thanks for all the great feedback and comments!!
Yeah I'm painfully aware of how shitty the movement and collision detection are. This was my first use of Unity3d physics with the 2dToolkit and I couldn't get them playing well together in the time I had. I might release an updated version sometime in the future that's a bit easier and fixes some of the collision box problems.
Enjoyed this. Thumbs up. good idea.
Crashes on launch on OSX
Impressive work. Great ASCII graphics and gameplay
This game is awesome, reminds me of Blake Stone et al. The title of the game really grabbed my attention too.
Nice work. The creature editing screen was a novel twist. I liked the abstract art style too.
The barrier to installing and getting this game running was too much for me. Stuff really needs to run out of the box for a comp like this.

Suck on a white screen for me after the LWJGL preloader. Running OSX Mountain Lion.
This is the Plan 9 from Outer Space of Ludum Dare entries. Very funny!
I found the music rather mesmerising and I kept playing but the creature spawn rate was a bit out of control and the game came grinding to a halt after awhile. Putting a cap on the creature spawn rate would be a good idea.
Such a great game! Wonderful use of minimal graphics and original gameplay. You should add some sort of scoring system or timer mode.
This was totally trippy and fun! Particle effects were rad and was fun to wipe out a big bunch of rabbits in one go!
This was totally trippy and fun! Particle effects were rad and was fun to wipe out a big bunch of rabbits in one go!
This was pretty compelling. The mechanics are well implemented. Hard as hell but that's what makes it engaging. Maybe restart and fire should be different keys though as you die so much you often miss your end score before restarting. A high score table would have been awesome for this game.
Some nice subtle strategy and complexity here behind the core of basic spacewar style gameplay. Sound and visuals are good. I found the controls a little twitchy but I'm not very good at these sorta games so thats probably more my skill level. I liked the Eno-eske soundtrack :)
This is my favorite game of the comp that I've played. Orignal mechanics fantastic sound and visuals. Five stars from me.
This was a really fun game with cool, whimsical graphics! Won on my first attempt yeay! The intro was a little confusing as I thought it was a menu hehe. Nice work!
Wonderful pixel art that really feels alive. This has the beginnings of a nice little haiku of a game.
Nice work! This was a super fun stealth game. Played right to the end. Well designed levels and some nice image effects. The sprint button was a little redundant because I *always* wanted to sprint whenever I hit the light!! Thumbs up!
Really enjoyed this game, nice mechanics implemented very well. I cool twist on TD + asteroids!
This was all a bit obtuse for me. Some more specific instructions would be good.
Solid, great narrative, engrossing gameplay. Saving this to my favorites list.
This game is solid! Nice attack mechanics. I loved how the music evolves too.
Very cool. Enjoyed this game a lot. You've got a very credible 48h shmup here. The progression felt great. Was so cool to get the jet after the slow zeppelin.
The first level of this game is just too obtuse for me. I get Im trying to make an 'e' but the mechanics are a bit too unstructured.
You've pulled of a really ambitious, large game here congrats. Theres plenty to see and do. I've always loved the mouse aiming mechanic.
@SaintHeiser @gregdevice The orange colour is very similar to the yellow colour at certain monitor brightnesses and orange will be destroyed by yellow this is bad graphical design on my part.
Regarding level 3. You can get passed all enemy blocks on that level without taking/destroying them. The trick is timing and observing how the enemy blocks move. They always pause for one turn when they meet a wall before moving in a different direction. You can move into a wall to skip a turn while waiting for the right moment to move passed an enemy block. Thats the trick to getting passed the orange block in the corridor of this level.
Thanks for the comments guys!
Wow! Thanks for all this feedback! @airdeck yeah I think with some improved level design this game idea might have legs. I'm currently working on a full game now with more, better designed levels and such.
The game needs more feedback when you are attacking other creatures and the game needs to be more challenging and the gameplay more balanced. Also that tune is pretty hard on the ears. With some more work, could be a good game.
An ambitious effort! The theme was well executed and you have crammed a lot of game in here. The controls felt a bit sluggish and unresponsive though. You need to spend a bit more time on how your game feels to play.
Top-notch visuals and sound and great game mechanics. I would love to play this with a touch interface.
A truly amazing audio effort and pretty fun gameplay to boot. nice to see some narrative structure in there too. Would have been nice to restart on the same stage I died on, this discouraged me to replay.
There's a jem of a really great idea here. However it was hard to plan any sort of strategy as the physics were too complicated/erratic and thus the game too hard. I liked the graphics.
Wonderful turns of phrase in this game. Lovely work. I liked how the game pulled me into its pacing.
The controls felt a bit unresponsive for what you want in a platformer, especially the jump. Wonderful graphics, sound and mood.
Fantastic shader work and overall look, very atmospheric with a very interesting idea. Would he cool to see the minimization mechanic used to solve puzzles etc in the gameworld, there's some depth there to explore.
Got sucked in and played through the whole thing.
This game sounded really cool but I couldn't play it because of the flickering. None of the FPS settings seemed to make it any better.
Did this game take all of, say, 30 mins to make?
Solid effort. A well implemented maze game.
This sort of game was one of the first I wrote in basic on my Apple IIe. Nostalgia!
Really nice puzzle mechanics, this could be taken and explored a lot more deeply. I got quite far but couldn't restart a level when I got stuck. Maybe consider adding a restart button?
Thanks for the great comments! @RealyUniqueName yeah its a Unity4 export.
Probably goes a bit over the top with the enemy spawn rate but its a totally impressive amount of work for a 48h jam. Well done. Lots of fun.
This is a superb entry! It's amazing how much you can strip away from the building sim genre and still get really compelling gameplay. Love the day/night cycle!
I really liked this. Even though the premise has been done before, it's pulled off really well. I really liked the novel volume mechanic, that was quite original.
Really nice mechanic! Fun to play with simple but attractive graphics. Great stuff.
Sorry but this was too obtuse for me. Very interesting art style though!
This is incredibly fun and playable for a 6 hour attempt. Hat off to you.
Kinda liked the floaty controls!
Engaging but needs a bit of balancing.
Head....hurts
Not much of a game here but an interesting concept that could be explored further.
Really liked the game. Nice design, pretty well executed. Would have been nice to be able to use the wasd keys as an option.
Failed to launch for me
The gameplay was just too fast for me to make much headway. I liked the colorful background though!
Keyboard didn't seem to work for me?
I couldn't even get passed the first level. I suck. Pretty funny intro, I lol'ed
Windows link was a broken link for me. Dropbox 5xx error.
I couldn't get passed level 2! This game is great, the controls are nice and tight and the graphics are really well done too. Thumbs up!
Lovely graphics and atmosphere. I liked it.
Nice work. The game controls feel nice and fluid. Any criticisms I have have already been mentioned by other reviewers.
This is a fantastic little game, enjoyable and relaxing. Could see it expanded into something bigger.
Simple button mashing fun!
Nice concept and AI. There's a lot of cool stuff going on here. I'm not sure that this type of game lends itself to the 10 second turn treatment though.
Nice job! Some inventive powerups.
Interesting idea. Could definitely do with more development.
I feel like I've played this game somewhere before ;-)
Very atmospheric soundtrack and pretty compelling gameplay. Yeah the slow speed was an issue and there was a little too much luck involved for my liking.
Thanks for all the great feedback people. I'm currently working on a touchscreen version so stay tuned.
Wow this game really built a lot of tension! Wonderful effort! Sound would have put it over the top!
Amazing art and gameplay. So much fun. My best so far is 1114.
This game is so much win!
I found this strangely compelling!
Great attack mechanic and challenging game-play. Very satisfying thunk when you stab your enemies. Top notch!
Atmospheric with great presentation. Great stuff!
Solid entry. Great visuals and sounds. Theme??
An interesting idea that feels more like a typing tutor than a roguelike. The game has some usability issues with the white on yellow very hard to read.
Really nice ideas here coupled with great execution. Really nice wave design and some cool mechanics. I love the enemies that disable your shields.
A good first attempt! Nice graphics and smooth motion. Would have been cool to see the thing in its finished state.
That was totally weird and strangely compelling! I liked it!
Nice concept and control system! Very very hard. Too hard for me, I couldn't get passed the tutorial. Love it how the robot falls apart when you crash.
Not bad! The game would have felt a bit more lively if you moved faster I recon.
wow that was quite effecting. I liked it.
Thanks for the comments everyone! @Hypnohustla Thanks so much! I'm trying to make games for a living so every bit helps!
You got a lot of the elements of a roguelike implemented in 48h, well done!
Hehe nice! That was sure unexpected! Nicely done.
I found this game very absorbing and atmospheric. If you added some more things to do and some proceedurally generated caverns I would buy and play the hell out of that game. Fantasic!
I've seen many many versions of this puzzle before (I just played basically the same puzzle in Skyrim recently) but this is beautifully produced and art directed with a wonderful ambient soundtrack. Great level design too.
Had a great time with this, was interesting seeing a high-end engine doing a lo-fi shooter. Worked really well. Great level design and lighting. Got up to the boss and died :(( Great work!!
This game gets really tricky when the arrest quests kick in. A fun test of multitasking. A really enjoyed this it puts you under pressure similar to Papers Please.
This was a real blast and very addictive. The camera jumped around a bit erratically which made the game harder than it needed to be to play.
This was damn fun. +1 for unlimited ammo and jetpack fuel!
The vision radius made this game way too hard imho. Fluid controls and nice graphics though.
This was pretty hard to play due to some glitchy controls. Was a bit opaque to me.
You know, I feel I've played this exact game before somewhere... This is very well executed and you've managed to implement a lot of systems in 48h.
Simple, pretty and a pretty interesting diving mechanic. Nicely done!
A very clever, well conceived game. Very nice screen effects and fluid controls.
A beautifully polished game with a great mechanic. Looking forward to exploring this more.
Very atmospheric wight great lighting and sound. Would be more challenging if the murderer didn't always spawn in the same place though as once I knew this I could get him pretty much every time.
Some really nice aspects to this, the narration was great and when the geometry synced with the narrative (going round and around) that was the best moment.
I found some nice aspects to this game. I liked how one of the key strategies was not to get surrounded and also I liked how the level became revealed once you killed all the monsters on it. Some different terrain would have been cool.
This made me laugh out loud and for that it gets a fair few stars from me!
Absolutely top notch graphics and sound and a ton of levels. This was wonderfully planned and scoped. Great work.
