LD23 — Tiny World

Tiny Life by armornick 2012-05-01T07:47:00

A bit simple and short.

Nineties Holywood Hacker by Casino Jack 2012-04-24T21:15:00

This is more like the 'build it then use it' theme than tiny world. You've created a lot of game here hats off to you! I didn't like restarting on 1 life and this was really off-putting but otherwise a very nice game, the control scheme was very interesting! being able to put pieces anywhere and not have them connected to the map made the level building feel a bit weak as i could just place pieces anywhere and wait fro the right one to come up.

Quantum Entanglement by icefallgames 2012-04-30T07:10:00

Bravo! One of my favourite types of games done really well. Great work in pretty much all departments.

Tiny God : Small Diety, Big Pantheon by Lacutis 2012-04-26T08:03:00

I enjoyed this, there was a lot of interesting complexity with very few units. The attack waves were pretty neat. I got to a stage where I couldn't seem to get my power over about 1500 and the game became a little static. I think that was because I wasn't sure of the power relationship between the units so didn't know how to get that little boost I needed.

Bugs by schizofunky 2012-04-27T06:52:00

I really enjoyed this! I wanted more levels to play! Good use of clear unambiguous graphics to convey gameplay meaning.

El Petit Messi by Zener 2012-04-24T21:22:00

Nice clean graphics. Using the ball to get coins was fun!

Shorted Out by HybridMind 2012-05-01T07:52:00

Great work for a first Unity game! I would have made the ball go a bit faster.

Astrosurf by Jimjam 2012-04-27T07:01:00

I like the idea of putting the tutorial in the background but on the downside it could have been easily missed. It would have been nice to get a general idea of where to start heading.

Head Trauma by drZool 2012-04-24T20:58:00

This was pretty interesting. Once I found out I could run, it was a lot more enjoyable! I liked the 'splat' when you killed the blobs. I liked the ambiguous nature of the game. It felt very mysterious. It would have been nice if there was some acknowledgement of finishing the game. Once I killed the big blob I couldn't see anything else to do. Pathfinding was really great, did you use Unity's new pathfinding stuff by chance or did you roll your own?

Gravity Sucks [WEB] by Nocturne 2012-04-26T08:24:00

Great Game! I simple concept pulled of with great polish and style! Very addictive, I wanted to keep playing. Good use of procedural generation.

Calamity by jonnopon3000 2012-04-24T20:23:00

I really liked this game, I was surprised t how satisfying revealing the world was. I also enjoyed using the map's landmarks to guide me subtle but cool game mechanics.

After meeting the guy in the middle and being told I had to reveal the entire map I gave up because I felt it would take too long to finish and the game got a little dull after that because there was no pathfinding goal anymore.

Nice work overall!

Universal Singularity by kratorspore 2012-04-26T07:44:00

Thanks for all the great feedback and comments!!

Yeah I'm painfully aware of how shitty the movement and collision detection are. This was my first use of Unity3d physics with the 2dToolkit and I couldn't get them playing well together in the time I had. I might release an updated version sometime in the future that's a bit easier and fixes some of the collision box problems.

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-24T20:32:00

Enjoyed this. Thumbs up. good idea.

tinythumb by My Milked Eek 2012-04-24T21:29:00

Crashes on launch on OSX

Battle For 35 Leukothea by Rectifier 2012-04-30T07:23:00

Impressive work. Great ASCII graphics and gameplay

LD24 — Evolution

Shit! It's evolving by fruitfly 2012-09-01T00:39:00

This game is awesome, reminds me of Blake Stone et al. The title of the game really grabbed my attention too.

Shape the World! by Cyboot 2012-09-01T21:44:00

Nice work. The creature editing screen was a novel twist. I liked the abstract art style too.

Keepers of The Harmony by chunkyguy 2012-09-01T00:14:00

The barrier to installing and getting this game running was too much for me. Stuff really needs to run out of the box for a comp like this.

Adapt or Die! by Datw 2012-09-01T21:35:00

Suck on a white screen for me after the LWJGL preloader. Running OSX Mountain Lion.

Game-Age by Lacutis 2012-09-16T03:14:00

You managed a lot of games here! However the controls could have been a little less sluggish as they left the games feel less exciting then they could have been.

Get the cake Cube Guy by tumoxep 2012-09-16T03:06:00

This is the Plan 9 from Outer Space of Ludum Dare entries. Very funny!

Mystic Evolution Quest by garywiss6 2012-09-04T05:06:00

I found the music rather mesmerising and I kept playing but the creature spawn rate was a bit out of control and the game came grinding to a halt after awhile. Putting a cap on the creature spawn rate would be a good idea.

BLOCKVOLVE by Danilo Bezerra 2012-09-16T04:40:00

Such a great game! Wonderful use of minimal graphics and original gameplay. You should add some sort of scoring system or timer mode.

Darwin Fitotherapy by Rorkien 2012-09-16T22:54:00

This was totally trippy and fun! Particle effects were rad and was fun to wipe out a big bunch of rabbits in one go!

Darwin Fitotherapy by Rorkien 2012-09-17T01:55:00

This was totally trippy and fun! Particle effects were rad and was fun to wipe out a big bunch of rabbits in one go!

Neurochronic Alien Fighter: Evolution! by Ken Reismann 2012-09-06T20:33:00

This was pretty compelling. The mechanics are well implemented. Hard as hell but that's what makes it engaging. Maybe restart and fire should be different keys though as you die so much you often miss your end score before restarting. A high score table would have been awesome for this game.

Evoquarium by EnigmaBlade 2012-09-16T23:21:00

Some nice subtle strategy and complexity here behind the core of basic spacewar style gameplay. Sound and visuals are good. I found the controls a little twitchy but I'm not very good at these sorta games so thats probably more my skill level. I liked the Eno-eske soundtrack :)

On the Origin of Block by savethejets1 2012-09-16T23:33:00

This is my favorite game of the comp that I've played. Orignal mechanics fantastic sound and visuals. Five stars from me.

Wheel in the Sky by s.hughes.anderson 2012-08-27T23:22:00

This was a really fun game with cool, whimsical graphics! Won on my first attempt yeay! The intro was a little confusing as I thought it was a menu hehe. Nice work!

Golden Eggs by Joana 2012-09-16T22:47:00

Wonderful pixel art that really feels alive. This has the beginnings of a nice little haiku of a game.

Passive by Suffolk and Clever 2012-09-16T03:35:00

Nice work! This was a super fun stealth game. Played right to the end. Well designed levels and some nice image effects. The sprint button was a little redundant because I *always* wanted to sprint whenever I hit the light!! Thumbs up!

Socket City by SethR 2012-08-27T23:57:00

Really enjoyed this game, nice mechanics implemented very well. I cool twist on TD + asteroids!

darwin_award by heuermh 2012-09-04T04:58:00

This was all a bit obtuse for me. Some more specific instructions would be good.

'The Neon Pink Philosophy' by Zed 2012-09-01T00:54:00

Solid, great narrative, engrossing gameplay. Saving this to my favorites list.

Red Ball: The Game by lectvs 2012-09-01T21:25:00

This game is solid! Nice attack mechanics. I loved how the music evolves too.

The Evolution of Flight by AaronYip 2012-09-16T20:18:00

Very cool. Enjoyed this game a lot. You've got a very credible 48h shmup here. The progression felt great. Was so cool to get the jet after the slow zeppelin.

The Path for Evolution by DavidErosa 2012-09-01T00:12:00

The first level of this game is just too obtuse for me. I get Im trying to make an 'e' but the mechanics are a bit too unstructured.

The SuperBugs by Josh @ Dreamland 2012-09-01T00:28:00

You've pulled of a really ambitious, large game here congrats. Theres plenty to see and do. I've always loved the mouse aiming mechanic.

EvoCube: Epoch Victorious by kratorspore 2012-08-30T22:23:00

@SaintHeiser @gregdevice The orange colour is very similar to the yellow colour at certain monitor brightnesses and orange will be destroyed by yellow this is bad graphical design on my part.

Regarding level 3. You can get passed all enemy blocks on that level without taking/destroying them. The trick is timing and observing how the enemy blocks move. They always pause for one turn when they meet a wall before moving in a different direction. You can move into a wall to skip a turn while waiting for the right moment to move passed an enemy block. Thats the trick to getting passed the orange block in the corridor of this level.

Thanks for the comments guys!

EvoCube: Epoch Victorious by kratorspore 2012-09-16T22:59:00

Wow! Thanks for all this feedback! @airdeck yeah I think with some improved level design this game idea might have legs. I'm currently working on a full game now with more, better designed levels and such.

Preemptive Evolution by Ethanh59 2012-09-16T04:46:00

The game needs more feedback when you are attacking other creatures and the game needs to be more challenging and the gameplay more balanced. Also that tune is pretty hard on the ears. With some more work, could be a good game.

Universal Adaptors! by yanmania 2012-09-06T20:41:00

An ambitious effort! The theme was well executed and you have crammed a lot of game in here. The controls felt a bit sluggish and unresponsive though. You need to spend a bit more time on how your game feels to play.

Pasazh by harusame 2012-09-16T04:06:00

Wow! This is a really complete and full-featured game with excellent visuals and gameplay. You totally nailed the Zelda-like progression. Great stuff.

Evolve Larry by gregdevice 2012-09-16T23:11:00

Top-notch visuals and sound and great game mechanics. I would love to play this with a touch interface.

LD26 — Minimalism

energized by mibbio 2013-04-29T19:07:00

Overall this game has some solid mechanics that I really enjoyed, it's a shame there aren't more levels out of the box. Things I would improve would be faster robot move speed and a better power remaining indicator.

Triangle Force by HeiShun 2013-04-29T20:48:00

A truly amazing audio effort and pretty fun gameplay to boot. nice to see some narrative structure in there too. Would have been nice to restart on the same stage I died on, this discouraged me to replay.

Primary Reaction by garygreen 2013-04-29T21:19:00

There's a jem of a really great idea here. However it was hard to plan any sort of strategy as the physics were too complicated/erratic and thus the game too hard. I liked the graphics.

climbing 208 feet up the ruin wall by Porpentine 2013-04-29T20:31:00

Wonderful turns of phrase in this game. Lovely work. I liked how the game pulled me into its pacing.

Minimalist's journey towards overlord minimalism by LionelJitro 2013-04-29T22:42:00

The controls felt a bit unresponsive for what you want in a platformer, especially the jump. Wonderful graphics, sound and mood.

Not Complex by NuSan 2013-04-29T23:06:00

Fantastic shader work and overall look, very atmospheric with a very interesting idea. Would he cool to see the minimization mechanic used to solve puzzles etc in the gameworld, there's some depth there to explore.

Go To Work (a Point and Click game) by TheColorMan 2013-04-29T21:08:00

Got sucked in and played through the whole thing.

Maximalism by phi 2013-04-29T19:28:00

This game sounded really cool but I couldn't play it because of the flickering. None of the FPS settings seemed to make it any better.

winBtn by Nick Snyder 2013-04-29T22:50:00

Did this game take all of, say, 30 mins to make?

Deja Vu by Celticraft49 2013-04-29T22:58:00

Solid effort. A well implemented maze game.

[My little game][+ or -] by Toinane 2013-04-29T21:27:00

This sort of game was one of the first I wrote in basic on my Apple IIe. Nostalgia!

Prism by Tapestry 2013-04-29T19:16:00

An interesting snake variant. I have to say this is way more fun than the standard snake game!

Rhynix by fpMiguel 2013-04-29T19:22:00

Hey nice idea. I found a bug in the 4th world, I could move through walls. Would have been nice to be able to try again if you went over the move limit. Nice soundtrack.

Door by hockeygoalie5 2013-04-29T21:56:00

Really nice puzzle mechanics, this could be taken and explored a lot more deeply. I got quite far but couldn't restart a level when I got stuck. Maybe consider adding a restart button?

Cube Defender by kratorspore 2013-04-29T21:21:00

Thanks for the great comments! @RealyUniqueName yeah its a Unity4 export.

Spark by CNIAngel 2013-04-29T21:34:00

Ups for music and mood.

Just Because by bigbazwa 2013-04-29T23:13:00

Probably goes a bit over the top with the enemy spawn rate but its a totally impressive amount of work for a 48h jam. Well done. Lots of fun.

ProductionVille by Blinked 2013-04-29T22:31:00

This is a superb entry! It's amazing how much you can strip away from the building sim genre and still get really compelling gameplay. Love the day/night cycle!

Y.A.H.G (G for Game) by EggDestroyer 2013-04-29T18:57:00

I really liked this. Even though the premise has been done before, it's pulled off really well. I really liked the novel volume mechanic, that was quite original.

Sorry but this was too obtuse for me. Very interesting art style though!

1007Quest by Hegemege 2013-09-03T16:48:00

Wow! I found this really fun. A beautifully scoped RPG for 48 hours. Would have been nice to have a better win condition but overall nice work.

Nice concept and AI. There's a lot of cool stuff going on here. I'm not sure that this type of game lends itself to the 10 second turn treatment though.

Drilling Enthusiast by Jellycakes 2014-04-28T15:43:00

I found this game very absorbing and atmospheric. If you added some more things to do and some proceedurally generated caverns I would buy and play the hell out of that game. Fantasic!

Temple of Ra by Split82 2014-04-28T19:37:00

I've seen many many versions of this puzzle before (I just played basically the same puzzle in Skyrim recently) but this is beautifully produced and art directed with a wonderful ambient soundtrack. Great level design too.

The Secrets Beneath [v1.4] by Ad-man 2014-04-28T17:46:00

Had a great time with this, was interesting seeing a high-end engine doing a lo-fi shooter. Worked really well. Great level design and lighting. Got up to the boss and died :(( Great work!!

Oligarch wars by enepomnyaschih 2014-04-28T16:27:00

This game gets really tricky when the arrest quests kick in. A fun test of multitasking. A really enjoyed this it puts you under pressure similar to Papers Please.

Hero Arcade Edition by Hyoga-3D 2014-04-28T15:57:00

This was a real blast and very addictive. The camera jumped around a bit erratically which made the game harder than it needed to be to play.

Underball by Roks87 2014-04-28T17:49:00

Yeah I didn't have any aiming facility for some reason :(

Depth Factor by Biliogadafr 2014-04-28T15:10:00

This was damn fun. +1 for unlimited ammo and jetpack fuel!

Ghost of the trapped Miners by thx4nothing 2014-04-28T17:53:00

The vision radius made this game way too hard imho. Fluid controls and nice graphics though.

The Gamer by Rother Games 2014-04-28T17:30:00

This was pretty hard to play due to some glitchy controls. Was a bit opaque to me.

Treasure Hunter by holgk 2014-04-28T15:15:00

You know, I feel I've played this exact game before somewhere... This is very well executed and you've managed to implement a lot of systems in 48h.

Pelican Challenge by Green Lightning 2014-04-28T18:17:00

Simple, pretty and a pretty interesting diving mechanic. Nicely done!

Memory Eater by Zyper 2014-04-28T14:52:00

A very clever, well conceived game. Very nice screen effects and fluid controls.

I n e s c o by raulincze 2014-04-28T18:27:00

A beautifully polished game with a great mechanic. Looking forward to exploring this more.

Greys by ccglp 2014-04-28T17:59:00

An interesting crypic entry. I liked the mood.

Beneath the surface, chasing the killer... by snake5 2014-04-28T16:43:00

Very atmospheric wight great lighting and sound. Would be more challenging if the murderer didn't always spawn in the same place though as once I knew this I could get him pretty much every time.

Jeremy Brain: Brain Doctor by idovingx 2014-04-28T17:23:00

Some really nice aspects to this, the narration was great and when the geometry synced with the narrative (going round and around) that was the best moment.

Monster Caves by Strandmullen 2014-04-28T15:01:00

I found some nice aspects to this game. I liked how one of the key strategies was not to get surrounded and also I liked how the level became revealed once you killed all the monsters on it. Some different terrain would have been cool.

Submarine by Logun 2014-04-28T18:10:00

I laughed! Love the surrealism! The art was really top notch too.

Beneatha steal pie by howieV (binarygirl) 2014-04-28T14:48:00

This made me laugh out loud and for that it gets a fair few stars from me!

Beneath the Trolls by Dreauw 2014-04-28T16:53:00

Absolutely top notch graphics and sound and a ton of levels. This was wonderfully planned and scoped. Great work.
