Life: The Cynical-Hipster-Tetris Version by Tim Kaldor 2013-12-16T18:33:00
Cool premise. I was rather confused, I'm still pretty confused. What does it all mean!

Cool premise. I was rather confused, I'm still pretty confused. What does it all mean!
haha I love the premise. Nice job!
Gah can't run it :/ using windows 7. It is a .py file. Not sure how to exe it haha. Oh well, love the black keys reference :D
I loved the gameplay. The menus didn't look great and I couldn't exit the game but still nice job! I though it was difficult and fun :)
Super fun and polished. One of the better entries I have played. Great job rogue :) (oh and the cow is really really adorable)
Haha had a lot of fun with this. And your humor shines through wonderfully :D
I found it easy enough that I was waiting for customers. Customers also stacked on each other, and I couldn't clear mess up orders. But overall really fun and pretty polished. Great job! It was all worth the Woo Hoo in the end haha
Wow this is simply fantastic. Nice work.
Wow great use of the theme. Kind of wonky to know what you are exactly suppose to look at and how much you are suppose to zoom in. Nice job!
Great submission. I love the graphics but it might need to be scaled up a bit. Overall really fun and a cool little app
Great game guys :) an interesting concept and great use of the theme. I love the sound effects for Donovan ;D
The ending is fantastic. A great message that was delivered well. Great work!
Fun little game. Played a few times and was never able to win, but maybe that says more about me than it does the game. Impressive workload for 15 hours. Nice work.
Great execution of the settings! We were thinking of doing something similar, you pulled it off perfectly though. Unique and clever. Great work!
Haha great entry. One of the more interesting games I've played so far. Would have loved to see more opponents. Punch-out's twisted child in the best way possible.
The art is trippy, surreal, innovative, and gorgeous. Excellent work on that and the atmosphere. The platforming/controls have a little bit of room for improvement but what you accomplished is incredibly impressive. Great work!
Fun, fantastic graphics, no bugs. Felt very well put together. Would have been cool to see different enemies. Great work guys.
Right on the theme, and a rocking soundtrack. Would have liked to see more gameplay mechanics, but what was there was fun. Had trouble closing the game as well, maybe something with gamemaker. Great work!
Great atmosphere. A nice combination of simple elements. Great shader work.
Took a bit of time to get used to the sword controls, and the wall collision might need a look. The graphics and sound work are great and it is a great little game overall, I'm a sucker for zelda-likes. Great job!
Would have liked to see more levels and variety. Fun though! I like how the music starts kicking up when you get more power-ups. Panics you in a good way.
Great little game. A very interesting approach to the theme. I like the atmosphere. I would of liked to see more levels where you have a domino effect of bodies to hid. Great work though!
Atmosphere and art are great. At first I didn't really "get it". It took me reading some comments to see what you guys were going for. Aging making the game more frustrating and difficult is a really interesting idea. Wish you guys had more time! Nice work!
Thank you all for your incredibly kind comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I liked all the different game-play mechanics you implemented. And the moon gate idea was a nice touch on a classic. The music was great but found the laser sound overwhelmed it a bit. Great work!
Woah...
Cool game! An impressive amount of work. Wasn't sure if there was a goal (find the dragon maybe) but I did have fun running through the woods killing things. Nice work!
Incredibly strange in a very good way. I still have no idea how to play. One of the most unusual and interesting games I have ever played. I'm not sure it was very fun, but it left some kind of strange impact on me and was well executed. Thanks for the experience!
You have heard it many times already, but this is the prettiest game I have played all jam. Great work!
Extremely fun/addictive. I like the art and music. The mechanics and their introduction were spot on, although the difficulty ramp was pretty harsh. Designing puzzles is not easy. Great work!
@dans17 Thank you! We worked really hard on it, used up every bit of time we had. Really happy with how it turned out :)
Thanks everyone for all the kind words!
@ddrkirbyisq Really great feedback, thank you! The key press thing is really obvious to me now, Doh!
@gamefive Oh really? I must have left that in on accident. I think for the purposes of the jam it is probably ok. Thanks for playing!
@derek-volker Key press issue was a big miss on my part. Thank you!
@scaelin You are right about the teleport issue. I never thought to do that in my test, clever! I probably should have just left the stairs out, didn't have time to fix them. They should just be decoration and not affect the platforming too much. For the spells you can hover over them with the mouse to find out the key, should have made that more obvious. Thanks!
@ddrkirbyisq @derek-volker @negator2vc
I have fixed the key release issue for the spells based on your feedback. Thanks for playing!
@room606 It is fixed, uploaded the wrong thing, sorry.
@acronaut Custom engine using SFML and C++!
Didn't feel like you could use super jump enough it seems. I get that. Freeze spell almost made it in, but we ran out of time. You would freeze enemies to turn them into platforms. Would make a really cool addition if I revisit it. The robe thing is a really good idea. We originally wanted the robes to pop off if you got hit al-la Ghosts and Goblins. Those games were real inspirations. All the cool downs could use some refinement, agree on that for sure.
Thanks so much for playing!
I made it to the boss but just couldn't figure out how to damage him at all, maybe I broke something? That aside the controls were tight, graphics and audio pleasing, wonderful progression, and lots of polish. Great work!
@anion-z I shot at him and the black circles with all of my abilities, but nothing seemed to happen. I think I made it to him too early. There is a way to get past the guardians at the beginning if you get damaged too much. It will blow you backwards across the gap. That is a really minor edge case. Still had a lot of fun, ty!
Great fun. Knowing that your dungeon doesn't connect up properly makes crawling it feel doomed to fail. And that time limit is rough even with a couple time bonuses. Other than that this is a really great idea. So many ways you could expand on it.
Art is really fantastic, love the backgrounds, etc. High marks for mood in general. Figuring out how to get closer to the color you need was pretty difficult. More explanation might have helped with that. Cool abstract concept!
This game is &^$@ing amazing. The audio and art are on point, game-play is wonderfully fun. Stupendous work even if it weren't made in a weekend.
Well polished and with a clear idea well introduced mechanic. Right on the theme. Nice work guys!
A nicely polished little game. Turn based fighting was on my list of games I wanted to make and this is a great entry. Would be awesome with more fighting mechanics.
This game is a trip. The eyes on everything made me feel a ting of guilt ever time a poor vegetable tumbled into the smiling pot. Nice work guys.
This idea is fantastic. Having to balance card attrition with bullet hell game-play is a blast. The presentation was nice and the music kept my feet tapping. Great work in all categories!
A really interesting way to play a match three game. I like being able to examine the puzzle from different angles and I'm sure getting all this working took some work. The movement controls felt a tad bit floaty but that isn't a big deal. Nice work (and a fitting name).
A super interesting take on the slide puzzle formula. Definitely a game that is more than the sum of it's parts. The little additions like mimics were a good touch. Nice work!
Getting combos in a match 3 game is way more satisfying when you are also beating up an enemy knight. Only criticism I can think of is that I wish the non-match-3 part of the game was a little more fleshed out. Maybe with a shop or some more varied types of enemies? Nice work!
@emiko That is incredibly kind of you! Thank you! I know what you mean about helping with your music, we thought about some ideas for this but just didn't have time. Glad you enjoyed it.
@diptoman I completely agree, a soft rhythm in the bg would really help I think. Definitely something I would add if we worked on it further. We actually wanted to go down to three notes instead of four, both for difficulty and keyboard support reasons but the work to remove features would have taken too much time. Thanks for your input!
@Synedraacus Yes there is actually! You can use the number keys 1-9 to show different overlays. This helps you figure out what tiles are supplied with what resources. I probably should have made that more clear though. If you look at the screenshots above you can see what I mean. Thanks for the feedback + playing!
The most hilarious entry I have played so far. Great work. The duck shoes rule.
Loving the visuals on this one. Took me a little bit to figure out what I was doing. Really interesting concept that I think could be expanded on with more different "tools" like the attractor. Nice work.
One of the more fun games I've played in this jam. The level/puzzles were well designed and kept things interesting. I'm not sure I was feeling the theme too strongly, but it's a good name nonetheless!
