hello there bearded fellow. This was great, awesome use of the theme and killer graphics. Good work.
Great game, I loved the music and the graphics. It really made my want to keep picking at it until I was able to make it in. I got to the door once with 38 gold, curses, but I did finally make it!
Pretty hilarious game, loved the mechanic with the treasure gathering. Maybe a bit too easy but then again much of the fun seems to be in taking your time to encounter more events instead of speeding through it like I did. Managed to get through it without dipping under 70 hp or encountering any bandits, but maybe I'm just lucky. Hoarded up on bandaids to get rid of my coins before delving in for good.
One of the better games I've played so far. Great mood and style. I played around with it for a while. Really like the little treasure mini game.
Yay I'm a true warrior! Really great tone, extremely funny game. The graphics and fantastic music help with the overall retro feel of the game.
The mining mechanic is pretty cool. Catches me by surprise every time, but I guess money comes and goes.
Watch out for cave madness!
I love the treasure gathering mechanic in this, it's super innovative and fun to play.
Great job!
Really nice game, although I kept trying to steal the other miner's stuff... But more seriously, the art style and music was great. If you were to add something else, I would probably tell you it should be more unique encounters as they started repeating a lot after the first few clicks. I don't know if it's intentional or not, but you can still get the event for climbing down the ledge even if your treasure bag is empty. Really good job! :D
Fun game! Engaging story with interesting choices and consequences!
Nice game, simple art and great music! Well done. Pls feel free to play and rate my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/split All the best!
Love the art style and the humor from the text! I constantly tried poking at it taking the most outrageous decisions to see where it would go. The game was fun all the way and I have no bad remarks on it! :)
Maybe a little bit more sounds, for example when you choose an option, a little feedback would be nice.
Otherwise, fun game, good job! :)
Spooky adventure in the mines!
Grabbing the ores was very cool and fun, nice job. Music was very good aswell!
Really cool! I won... I guess... died in a drunken brawl like a true miner :) The concept is great, the minigame worked great with the theme, and was fun. It was really nicely fleshed out and felt like a complete package, which is hard for something with random encounteres like this I imagine. I really enjoyed it!
very good! i really enjoyed the treasure collecting minigame, very nicely done. great job! :^)
Probably my favorite game so far! A tad bit easy to not die, but still a fun enough challenge in other aspects (inventory management, coins, etc).
Reminds me so much of older games like Shadow Gate. This was well done, graphics are great, and plenty of variation when venturing through the mine. One thing I mentioned on stream last night was how some events do cause you to lose health, even though the text doesn't state it explicitly. Adding something in visually to show this, like maybe the number counting down, or flyout text showing how much you lost.
Excited to see what else you add to this.
Thank you all for your incredibly kind comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
This was a great adventure game, and I really enjoyed the music and art style. Thanks for sharing!
Loved it, I didn't expect that gameplay at all when I looked at the description. I liked having to make choices in a turnbased environment, it lets me weigh the decisions more and it lets you create more interesting scenarios. The backpack minigame is AWESOME. What a great combination of skill, problem solving, and judgment all rolled into one.
At first I tried to play it carefully and just gather gold and items, but eventually I said screw it and gunned it with a handful of bandages. I managed to get through it by picking the safe choice every time but barely. Haven't played that kind of variant of the genre before, very cool.
Lovely old school game :) The high level of polish and a wide variety of events makes it a great experience. Also, the treasure gathering mechanic is really clever.
Very nice! I really enjoyed it (+1) :)
**Review (or so)**
The music fits very well. Maybe audio could be better if there were more specific sounds related to the events that happen.
The game is very innovative, combining the main style with the minigame and interesting mechanics that, contrary to what I expected, doesn't leave an unpleasant feeling of lost progress (like being defeated by the last boss of Ninja Gaiden and going back to the very beginning of that merciless level) -- starting the journey all over again.
Regarding the graphics, there are some bits that could be improved, but overall they are already really really good.
Lastly, I think it would be nice to take into account whether you have coins/treasure or not when showing the actions/messages/events. Also, I was able to buy a power pick twice, looks like that wasn't intended.
Great job!
