yolziii 2019-10-08 06:34

I was eaten by some dark ball ) Very cool atmosphere, great work!

crimsonhorizon 2019-10-08 09:55

Good job! I love the artwork and music!

actual-potato-69 2019-10-08 10:02

@yolziii @crimsonhorizon Thank you! Glad that you liked it!

namnam 2019-10-08 10:03

Nice graphic and atmosphere but the game feel is a bit weird, it was hard to understand the collision box and what I had to do, I think I die (not sur why) and the game still continue.

ivananovakova 2019-10-08 10:09

Amazing atmosphere! I love the textures and the overall visual is great

actual-potato-69 2019-10-08 10:24

@namnam Yes, you are right! There are some bugs sadly. Thank you for your feedback!

actual-potato-69 2019-10-08 10:25

@ivananovakova Glad that you liked it! We have an awesome graphics artist indeed!

xakkar 2019-10-08 10:39

Nice graphics) Bug: When life ended on top, the character disappeared, but the game did not end and I continued to beat.

actual-potato-69 2019-10-08 11:00

@xakkar Thank you for playing and your feedback!

creativ4eg 2019-10-08 13:32

Really like graphics and atmosphere! Thank u!

chocolat-endive 2019-10-08 13:54

The general atmosphere is very cool, and I really liked the graphics! I had the same bug other people mentioned, with the game half frozen when the player dies.

negator2vc 2019-10-08 15:32

@chocolat-endive Thank you for playing our game!

@chocolat-endive @xakkar When you encountered the bug you were still in the combat screen or have you returned to the map screen? We will check the bug and a quick bugfix will be posted by any more feedback is very much appreciated!

xakkar 2019-10-08 15:45

@negator2vc When a bug happened, I stayed on the battle screen

negator2vc 2019-10-08 16:02

@xakkar Thank you!

zsombro 2019-10-08 18:04

Absolutely nailed the atmosphere! I'm a big fan of the bleak visual style. My biggest complaint is that the combat could use some work to make it more interesting. It's hard to guess where hitboxes are, but the telegraphed attacks were a good idea

gamejuv 2019-10-08 18:08

the artwork is very cool, i like the main character. I is so cute!

sirred 2019-10-08 18:15

Audio had some crackling in it, I dont know if that was on purpose. The combat was pretty easy once I realized I can face tank everything. I really did like the graphics and the bleak nature of the game.

gamebuilder 2019-10-08 18:18

This is a great game, especially for Halloween season. You nailed the mood and sound. Like others here, when I was killed in combat, it appears the game gets stuck on the same screen (the only difference is that I can't see my character; this is in Firefox for Linux). Even then I enjoyed the new music. Good job.

nsadie 2019-10-08 18:20

Nice art style and idea! I struggled a bit to figure out how the attack works and after I died I stayed on the battle screen.

greenradiation 2019-10-08 18:20

Excellent graphics, but the gameplay is not very exciting.

clvp 2019-10-08 18:22

Cool art, good job!

wansou 2019-10-08 18:23

an Awesome game! its really creepy, just fits in the Spooktober!

to be honest, the squigly black circle scared me a little :skull_crossbones:

daria-toni 2019-10-08 19:39

Okay, I didn't fully understand what was going on and enemies were acting weird... BUT this style! Very very beautiful! And music is very atmospheric. I love it overall :)

nathan-wash 2019-10-08 20:45

Style is great! I love the aesthetics and the creepy music and art. I had the same issue where when I died I would remain the battle screen and not be able to do anything. Oddly enough, you can still kill the enemy that kills you after you're dead. Is there something special that happens if you make it through every encounter? Would be really challenging in its current state but I'm curious! I think the non-recoverable health through encounters is a nifty mechanic.

negator2vc 2019-10-08 21:58

@nathan-wash Thanks for playing our game! The fact that you stay in battle screen after death is a bug that will be fixed in an updated version. Also each time you find an element of your existence you heal fully (one element per "region").

almost 2019-10-08 23:26

The graphics are really pretty. The gameplay was a bit repetitive. Enemies do damage at the start of their attack instead of the end, so it is impossible to dodge, which means that I just run at them and mash spacebar. There was also no visual feedback for me damaging the enemy so I dont know if i was missing. I couldnt tell how many elements I found, but I eventually realized that "things are getting clearer healed me". I think I found that around twice before stopping. Also, there was a brief freeze whenever I hit one of those things that goes into a fight, which messed with the audio. Not sure what can be done about that.

realitycheck 2019-10-09 13:11

Pretty much all the important feedback has already been said. The atmosphere and graphics are absolutely gorgeous, and I liked them a lot. Gameplay, however, needs more work. I could not really figure out the hitboxes or develop any kind of strategy to beat the enemies, rather mashing space and hoping I didn't take too much damage (couldn't really tell when and why I would take damage either. And, of course - when dying I had to reload the browser because the game wouldn't end.

I think there is something here, though. With some post Ludum Dare work you could fix the combat and add some more variety to the gameplay - the style and mood is already there. Good job.

geist-191 2019-10-10 22:36

I really enjoyed the art style of this game. It was something new and refreshing. Really nice to have found this gem :) Good job!

benk 2019-10-12 06:27

Just when I was about to give up, I finished the game :-) Nice reward too. Like other people said, super cool atmosphere with the music and art, definitely has a thing. I didn't mind the combat, you could obviously do a lot more but I still enjoyed it.

zanzavar 2019-10-12 14:24

Very nice art and the music was very atmospheric. Combat started being a little repetitive after a while, it would be nice to gradually unlock other attack modes as well. In the html5 version there were a few sound glitches but nothing too serious. The overall mood of the game was very mesmerizing and i liked the colorful ending! Congrats!

koukwst 2019-10-13 19:01

Such an atmospheric game! Very moody. Totally should try it. Music and graphics are awesome!

charitosdev 2019-10-13 20:48

Atmosphere and graphics are just amazing! Also, I loved the variety of enemies! Μπράβο παιδιά!

envy-softworks 2019-10-13 21:19

A very nice looking and sounding game. The core loop is interesting but can get tedious after a while. Had trouble figuring out which spots I've already visited before and the transition between the scenes was a bit wonky. Still pretty solid entry! Good job!

negator2vc 2019-10-13 21:37

@envy-softworks @charitosdev @koukwst Thanks for playing our game! Glad that our fellow greek developers liked it!

2019-10-14 11:32

Not playable on a mac (mojave v10.14.5) with chrome (77.0.3865.90 (Official Build) (64-bit))

mgoadric 2019-10-17 14:39

I liked the graphics and animation, especially the hairy ghost. There were some sound glitches for me on scene transitions, and the fighting was a little repetitive.

demuss 2019-10-17 15:29

One of the best graphics i seen so far ^^ the animation was well made, the sound was great but gameplay itself i found repetitive so after few enemies boring

kuro 2019-10-17 16:58

A big YES from me! The gameplay is on the simpler side, but with this being a game jam and there being only so much time to wrap things up, it is understandable. (Also, I'm really not the one to talk about gameplay this time around).

Apart from that, I love the aesthetics! I really appreciated there being three different enemies, the sound is haunting, even chilling, and the low framerate of the animations adds a nice little something to the creepyness of it all.

Great job people!

sver 2019-10-17 17:05

Very nice graphics and sound! Really creates an awesome mood!

whiteseraph 2019-10-17 17:24

The artstyle is very nice, like everyone already mentioned. The gameplay is ehhh, not very interesting.

negator2vc 2019-10-17 18:57

@mgoadric @demuss @kuro @sver @whiteseraph Thanks you for playing our game!

pfeyffer 2019-10-17 20:53

Cool game, very nice art style and great mood. Background music glitched a little when loading a scene.

derek-volker 2019-10-18 10:45

The graphics are truly the unique feature here. I wonder how do you done them, hand drawing? Also props for having different enemies. And the atmospherical sounding really enhances the experience.

The controls are ok. There's a slight delay on attack due to the pre-attack animation but is ok to get the timing, it doesnt feel clunky.

The problem with the game in my opinion is the repetition. You go in a dungeon, slay the enemies, proceed to next dungeon, repeat. It felt like something to break the routine was needed to make the game more interesting. I dont know why though.

Excellent job on developing this game. Congrats!

actual-potato-69 2019-10-18 15:16

@derek-volker Thank you for your comments! Yeah, the graphics were hand-drawn indeed ;)

tomcus 2019-10-19 10:54

Great game. Would appreciate more enemy types and more attack types. But I liked it very much

jin9310 2019-10-19 13:41

Although bit repetitive, very atmospheric! Really nice job on this, the mood is really nice. Would love to see some different 'arenas' but given the timeframe you had, this is really solid. Great job and thank you for this experience!

zachary-shah 2019-10-19 14:37

Graphics, story, enemies, controls, you knocked all those aspects out of the park. However, variety is where you lacked. I like the base attack move, but a dash move where you zip through an enemy or a fireball dealing less damage that the melee but long ranged would also work great. I also think having multiple enemies spawn at once would really spice up the game so I would have to adjust my strategy. Other than that, great game!

nikchernyakov 2019-10-19 21:00

Good game. I like the art style and atmosphere! For me some things was a bit annoying: animations and sudden breaks in level changing, absence of gameplay's feedback (like enemy damage receiving effects, player attack effect and etc). But anyway, I like this game, great job!

philomory 2019-10-20 00:00

The aesthetics of this are really something else. The audio also contributed a lot to the atmosphere. Managing multi-modal gameplay in a jam timeframe is likewise impressive.

As others have pointed out, the combat is a bit lacking, not mechanically in-and-of-itself, but, it's kinda same-y. Some more abilities or enemy types, or even simply giving each area its own slight palette variation, might have improved things in that regard, though obviously there's a limit to what can be accomplished in the timeframe alloted.

itsdanidre 2019-10-20 02:30

What is this feeling..serenity? Hope? Thanks for making!

Not gonna lie, those ghouls were spoopy, nice mix with the Halloween theme because October!

aeveis 2019-10-20 04:34

great art and music! The animations were nice, but could be helpful to have feedback if something or you was successfully hit, perhaps particles or something. Design wise, would be nice to see how attacking the enemies helped the player - how is killing the enemies help the player find its element of existence? Perhaps you have to collect something, or perhaps clearing the enemies gives you narrative on what's happening, there's many ways to go about it. Anyway, keep up the good work!

bungalow 2019-10-21 08:52

Really liked this game! Had some really nice and professional art, especially for a jam game! It also had some great, moody audio that really sets the tone. My only issue is that the attack felt unresponsive. I can't tell if I'm actually hitting the enemy. Maybe add some camera shake and some particles to show that you've hit an enemy. But other than that, ya'll did an amazing job! Best of luck with the jam and future projects!

solluxx 2019-10-24 03:24

You have heard it many times already, but this is the prettiest game I have played all jam. Great work!

solah 2019-10-26 07:04

Wow, amazing graphics (the animations just have a low frame rate) and atmosphere. The monsters designs are truely great! I think the game only lacks variety in it's gameplay, it might be a dodge ability or a second kind of attack.

Well done!

king-kujito 2019-10-26 16:58

Very nice artwork. The attack animation should be a bit faster but I respect what this game was going for.

selkkie 2019-10-27 11:06

This was an absolutely beautiful game with perfect atmosphere. One of the monsters even had me going "OH GOD WTF IS THAT AHH", so the designs did their job for sure, lol.

The gameplay was a bit repetitive, especially given the size of the map. I think maybe it would have worked better as a continuous walking beat-em-up style game- as it stood, the health was a bit forgiving on most of the levels, and enemies only came out one at a time. The map also seemed to create an uneven flow of progression, where I'd fight difficult enemies and then go back to fighting weenies; so I think having one progressive level with one health bar and sparse health pickups with multiple varied enemies out at once would make things more challenging.

Of course, I also understand that time constraints are a thing, and this is a rad game all things considered. Excellent work!

skdf 2019-10-28 11:59

Damn I wish I could draw like this. I agree with my fellows up there about the repetitivness. To supress some of it I'd just add some skills everytime you kill a monster that don't take that much time to program: attack more fast, double attack, a key to dodge... But I don't know, maybe you were really short on time :( Anyway, I wish there was (and hope there will be) more! Congrats :)

organicpencil 2019-10-29 02:35

The aesthetics are on point. Gameplay left much to be desired, though the map-completion stuff felt pretty good, and mashing out a technically-playable game in such short time is no small feat. Had to run my enemy in circles to catch the full music loop which wasn't too shabby, especially considering it was made by an actual potato. How is that possible. Has science gone too far?
