Really well made game! I like the artstyle and the sounds fit the game. The idea of collecting power ups are neat, congratulations for the entry!
This is a really good jam entry! Nice platformer that gives a nod to the theme. Enjoyed how each level was tailored to teach you about your new powers and the last few levels had you put everything together. Very well done! I enjoyed all 8 levels! Also nice touch to give some stats at the end!
By the way, you guys should start working on leaving feedback for other games. It will drive traffic to your page and I am sure you will get high ratings!
Thew music was a tat annoying. But beyond that this was great fun. The game has an original touch to the jump and run genre, by disabling some obstacles' trough spells. The sprites were simple but good-looking and for a jam game it is a long play.
Wow, this is a really polished game for a jam entry! I really like the concept and level design.
@dans17 Thank you! We worked really hard on it, used up every bit of time we had. Really happy with how it turned out :)
Thanks everyone for all the kind words!
Very cool entry! There was a really nice progression in difficulty and the last level was quite challenging to complete! Love the platformer aspect with different abilities that you learn to master, and also really love the art style! The only little caveat I would find is that when you have slopes the hitbox is still a rectangle so it makes it look like the character is floating. Also the music is a bit too short and the loop gets repetitive. Other than that it's an awesome little game, I'm surprised you guys don't have more ratings!!
Nice job! A few comments for improvement:
- Please add the "R" for reset command somewhere in your description -- had to use it after teleporting out of bounds and falling out of the level. (thanks for including it!) - Please make the spells trigger on key press instead of key release! Triggering on key release is an unintuitive behavior that leads to people thinking that your controls are a bit unresponsive. I got used to it after a few levels, but it felt very off at first. - Please increase the volume of your sounds :)
Other than that, it's a bit rough around the edges, but everything here is pretty great and fun for a jam game. Not having the entire level reset on death was an especially nice touch as it never led to any particularly frustrating moments (despite the key release input issue causing a number of deaths). An enjoyable playthrough!
It's a great game. It's fun. I was able to change the level. Did you know that?
Nice approach to the theme with interesting mechanics. The level design that require you to combine multiple abilities is really cool, and got me trying several times until i could get the right timing of skill combination.
However, i find it very annoying that the spells are used on key release (or key up) and not on key down as the other controls. It really turn the game harder than it should be. Also, turn up the volume, i had to crank the sound to barely hear something.
With that in mind is also interesting that you put up multiple levels really polished.
Congrats on developing this game!
Hey, I enjoyed playing your game, it's great overall and had a good amount of polish Your main mechanic worked well with the theme, the sounds, music and aesthetics were nice, and the level design got interesting when it required you to use your whole arsenal of spells to get through. A few nitpicks though : - The stairs' hitbox makes it awkward to maneuver around them - The teleportation spell can teleport you out of bounds - Sometimes remembering what key is bound to what spell is hard, perhaps a key reminder around the spell icon, or placing the icons in a cross shape instead of a line would make a good reminder
Congrats on the end result!
@ddrkirbyisq Really great feedback, thank you! The key press thing is really obvious to me now, Doh!
@gamefive Oh really? I must have left that in on accident. I think for the purposes of the jam it is probably ok. Thanks for playing!
@derek-volker Key press issue was a big miss on my part. Thank you!
@scaelin You are right about the teleport issue. I never thought to do that in my test, clever! I probably should have just left the stairs out, didn't have time to fix them. They should just be decoration and not affect the platforming too much. For the spells you can hover over them with the mouse to find out the key, should have made that more obvious. Thanks!
Very nice platformer with excellent pixelart graphics and excellent implementation of the theme! As others pointed, the only thing that spoil the experience is the controls  especially the jump controls. Maybe, as another commenter pointed, make them respond to key press instead to key release! Still an excellent entry!
@ddrkirbyisq @derek-volker @negator2vc
I have fixed the key release issue for the spells based on your feedback. Thanks for playing!
one of the best platformers i played this LD so far. You always have an oportunity to slowly kill all monsters, or use good timing in skills and go thouth, good gamedesign example! I think that enemy's colliders are larger that actual sprites, and sometimes you get hits when you not so close to them:\
Could you please provide Linux/HTML5 version?
I tied to launch the game via Wine on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but it seems I've got Editor mode not the game..

@room606 It is fixed, uploaded the wrong thing, sorry.
nice game, i think it would be more convenient to use w for the jump, rather than space
Thank goodness that the wizard could respawn after I had him accidentally teleport out of bounds :smile_cat: This is pretty neat platformer. The very start reminds me of Arthur from Ghouls and Goblins..
I'm curious what engine you have made this game in?
Suggestions: - some spell cool-down tweak for super jump? - or if one insists to cast a spell despite cooldown, the spell is cast (limited amounts) but it extends its cooldown or its spell-strength is weaker (shorter range, etc..) till it fizzled. - Interested to see further variation of elemental spells and skills.. - Perhaps a variation of different robes (to imply different magical class: mage, sorcerer, wizard, conjurer); for new or variation of abilities and challenges.. :comet:
The Stone Skin at times catch me off-guard; the effects are half of the overall cool-down once cast: e.g- 24 .. 10..0 (effect is already off); This situation more likely to happen on timing those jumps when landed on the two sets of platform-spikes
Neat entry Overall! :dizzy:
Fun game! The power up mechanic is pretty neat. Graphic is pretty good too. The UI is kinda misleading though, at first I thought I clicked the skills box to use them, and then the game tells me to use arrow keys (which is pretty unusual haha). Nonetheless I had a blast playing this game. It's not too difficult too!
Nice work!
@acronaut Custom engine using SFML and C++!
Didn't feel like you could use super jump enough it seems. I get that. Freeze spell almost made it in, but we ran out of time. You would freeze enemies to turn them into platforms. Would make a really cool addition if I revisit it. The robe thing is a really good idea. We originally wanted the robes to pop off if you got hit al-la Ghosts and Goblins. Those games were real inspirations. All the cool downs could use some refinement, agree on that for sure.
Thanks so much for playing!
So interesting! I like that cute graphics, smooth controls, funny gameplay and clever puzzles. One of the best platformers on the jam. Nice work and best wishes! ^^
fun game.mechanic was good.and level design was well too! TIM图片20191025152222.png
Cool game! I like the pixel graphics, and it was fun to play! Well made level design, as many people said. Some backgrounds in the rooms and it would've been perfect.
Now its way better to play.
Thanks @solluxx
I managed to beat the game, this is preety fun! I loved the gameplay and the feel of progression. I just found the controls a bit confusing. Anyway good job!
A nice polished platformer with simple mechanics. The abilities were pretty good, it just may have been good if the invincibility showed you how long was remaining, as a couple times I thought it didn't finish until the countdown was over. Overall though, I enjoyed it! Good job
Cool game! Great graphics & animations. Nice concept, fits the theme nicely. The level design was really clever. I really enjoyed it, thank you for making it! :D
