LD23 — Tiny World

Star Drill by tinymagus 2012-04-29T15:19:00

More games should feature cellular automata! Really nice pixel graphics, and very clever idea. Fully self-contained experience, I don't think it would be stretching the definition too much to describe it as art. I'd be interested in a little more context for the player. Who/what are you etc?

The Good Ship Higgs Boson by Jezzamon 2012-04-30T19:31:00

One of the best puzzle entries I've yet come across - excellent controls, how on earth you got all those puzzles in 48h I have no idea, really good job! The text messages add so much to the context and feel. Great stuff

SpermWorld by AnimeGeek32 2012-04-29T14:44:00

I like the concept and the units of nanometres, and the player animation is good, as is the music. The particle collection is a little too abstract for my taste, but that's cool. I think the interface could be a little more helpful to the player e.g. print your current size next to your avatar, so that you don't have to keep looking up to the corner of the screen.

Asylum by Orni 2012-04-26T19:20:00

Creepy and mysterious, very good ambience and graphics are a really good fit. Some minimal noises would have been good but this is really nicely polished, good stuff!

Gnome Alone by Matt Rudder 2012-05-10T20:48:00

Enjoyed the shooting and moving mechanic, good gnome graphics and a well put together package. Would love to see some more feedback when scoring a hit, perhaps some simple particle effects? Good entry

Block Bros by HeuGamer 2012-04-25T19:45:00

I think this is really good, esp for a first effort. Good colours, good art style and animation, gradually increasing difficulty puzzles that just stay the right side of frustrating. A story to drive you on and an ending that comes after not too long - some conclusion to the plot might have been nice, but its the complete package so thanks

Protector by kiswa 2012-04-23T18:17:00

I like the megascale structure interpretation of the theme, very space opera/sci-fi. The difficulty ramp was well judged and there were some nice risk/reward dilemmas thrown at the player. Nice crisp graphics too, I persevered until I beat it ;)

Montezuma's Tomb by recursor 2012-04-29T16:52:00

Great level of detail and a well-rounded experience, good work! I think the controls need a tweak as per your post-compo entry ;)

Nineties Holywood Hacker by Casino Jack 2012-04-25T06:45:00

Enjoyed the two-phase approach, clever idea! Nice colourful art, clear what was going on and what was supposed to do and nice difficulty/interest curve. For some reason I couldn't get sound (safari/mac)

Tinysasters by Volute 2012-05-08T19:18:00

Really amazing to put this together in the timeframe, nice one ;) Superbly executed game, really coherent and with a clear direction. I found it a bit difficult to get into but I liked the way the disasters described what they were going to do so you didn't feel the game was cheating you. I couldn't work out how to generate the grey material (steel/rock?) so I had to give up after a while. Perhaps a tooltip if you hover the mouse over the resource "steel, created by XXX" would help? Or perhaps serendipitous events like a mineral-rich meteor strike? Really good work, thank you

World In A Bottle by Serilyn 2012-04-29T15:53:00

Serene and peaceful, lovely presentation. Not *entirely* sure what the end goal is so feels less gamelike more simlike, still, enjoyable!

My Sun Is HUUUGE! by Follett 2012-04-29T13:44:00

Excellent music and presentation, really liked the lens-flare effects. It wasn't clear enough how to interact with it for me, couldn't work out how to play it despite reading (most of) the text instructions - however for a first game attempt it's the complete package and well executed, good stuff!

Copulous by keely 2012-04-25T19:52:00

Congratulations this is excellent! Just the kind of game that goes viral, very amusing and nicely put together, the music is superb

Robots Are Red, Violets Are Blue by David Durham 2012-04-29T14:30:00

Really enjoyed this, one of the best I've come across great stuff :D Lovely theming and characterisation. Great presentation in terms of graphics, audio, effects, "widgets" (text box and such like). In terms of where to go next - perhaps some more "roboty" sounds, different tasks, and maybe some "people on the ground"?

March of the Ladybirds by MrDanH 2012-04-30T19:17:00

Great puzzles, really enjoyed this! Big lemmings fan back in the day so dig the lemmings vibe. Would like some more fireworks and of course sounds, but a solid experience with loads of scope for more...

Tiny Contamination, well almost by demogia 2012-04-30T20:25:00

Nice detailed graphics, amusing sound effects, good difficulty curve. I'd be interested to see more variation in enemies

ACTION SCIENCE DOG by bburbank 2012-05-08T19:07:00

Love the procedural levels, the tiles are great, the dog is great, but I was pretty confused about what to do! All those items didn't seem to have a use and I couldn't find any way out of the level, but I see from your comments I just didn't look hard enough ;) All in all a fun experience that has scope to go plenty further

Tiny World Big War by dx0ne 2012-04-29T15:39:00

Love the mega-carnage fest, highly cathartic and satisfying! Perhaps more weapon choices for even more gratuitous destruction? there's loads of scope; vehicles, etc.. It is quite strategic but I feel this aspect could be developed as well. Better special effects would be nice as would sound

Tiny Neutrino by Scott Baker 2012-04-30T20:32:00

Love the hardcore physics theme, really thoughtful entry. Somehow couldn't work out what happened when becoming neutrino - the controls seemed to go a bit crazy. Also all the sprites vanished when I started the next level? Good effort though

Pollinate by garageworldgames 2012-04-29T13:59:00

Great music and lovely graphics, really tidy presentation congratulations! The puzzles are brilliant and show much care and consideration. I can see why the controls are the way they are on red and yellow but perhaps when not in contact with a block a "free move" could operate like in the ice? (it was good enough for pacman...). The way the avatar recoils from objects is slightly annoying, perhaps a sound effect would have conveyed "you can't move here" better? Also on the hub screen if the avatar was positioned slightly lower one could just walk left or right to enter a blue/yellow, without colliding with the blocks. Minor quibble on a great entry!

Millinaut by Throbbery 2012-04-30T19:47:00

Great mechanics, so many puzzles in so little time! very impressed. I love the art style and the controls are crisp and sure. The difficulty ramps nicely, but I got stuck, oh well! The story was a bit confusing, but cool in a random kind of way ;)

Recluse by chambers 2012-05-13T10:13:00

Extremely well made with wonderful graphical polish. The level design, difficulty curve and asset revelation is highly accomplished, and of course the central mechanic is a stroke of genius. Got a Tiny World? Make it bigger! Fantastic work and well deserving of a high score

Tiny Dream by Kendja 2012-04-25T07:18:00

loved it!

Tiny Dream by Kendja 2012-04-25T07:29:00

excellent graphics and mood, really coherent world and characters, nice crisp controls and puzzles that are well pitched to the scope of the game; a complete package, thank you!

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-04-29T18:09:00

Enjoyed this, lovely presentation, nice difficulty curve, stays just the right side of annoying ;) A thorough exploration of the idea so good stuff

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-13T19:39:00

Love the simple, crisp graphics and petri-dish bacteria duplication vibe. Would be interesting to see some alternative shapes, perhaps muted colours for different types of lifeform? A good take on the theme, and well executed, thanks!

Enter The Mechanism by Lotsa 2012-05-09T19:30:00

Very enjoyable puzzle platformer, nice crisp controls, clean graphics, good choice of colours and difficulty curve. The music is sublime and sets a really good ambience, all in all a great entry and it'd be great to see more

Full Metal Planetoid by pom 2012-05-09T20:05:00

I like the concept and think it has loads of scope to be made into a fuller experience. Nice planet deformation effects and particles. Would enjoy sound and perhaps more gradual destruction of the planet - one moment i was just impacting the surface and the next half the thing had blown up, so it wasn't quite the feedback I was expecting, satisfying though it was! Loads of scope to jazz it up with graphical effects etc, not bad at all

100seconds'World by Angerus 2012-05-01T19:58:00

Lovely presentation, really nicely chosen style and colours, all integrated really well together. The mechanics are subtle and have plenty of scope for richer interactions etc with more object types / planet types. It'd be nice to see more dynamic feedback - i.e. some animation to convey the interactions rather than just the summary screen

To What a Mountain? by cageinabird 2012-05-11T19:38:00

Hahaha that was totally hilarious! Best ending to an game I've rated by a mile, congratulations! I like the art and how you tied the "lack of hands" into the story etc, really amusing. And a whole poem, all in 48hrs! Excellent work, 5 stars

Avoid by MattTyson 2012-04-25T16:55:00

Great difficulty ramping built into the experience. The ambient sound fits well, and the controls are responsive. Not bad at all

Lost in space by Keirua 2012-04-26T19:26:00

Like the ambient sound and overall feel, amusing story too, a complete experience so nice one! Would like to see some more "quests" perhaps? This could be extended in many ways - do you have any plans to do so?

Fracuum by TylerGlaiel 2012-05-08T20:00:00

I really dig this, it is brilliant! How you structured the maze across the different levels of scale I have no idea, really clever stuff. Lovely smooth controls, good colour palette and sounds and a great theme-linked menu completes the experience. I don't really see how this could be improved on, except with more of the same, congratulations!

A Giant Step by Quinas 2012-05-01T20:02:00

Dig the Tchaikovsky and Wagner, great concept all round and very funny, it's good! Some sound effect improvements would be good, but the graphics are really good all round

Toad Warrior by SpaceToaster 2012-05-11T19:49:00

Superb entry! The graphics are exceptional, so polished and very funny. Intuitive controls, perhaps slightly higher gravity would be good as I got a bit frustrated waiting for my next go after a bad click. It's not quite obvious which direction it'll go in at first either. Good sound and a good difficulty curve, really good stuff thank you

Diminutive Dungeon by humblesound 2012-05-09T18:59:00

Very funny title! Wet gnome haha, the text messages really made this, though I enjoyed the graphical theme and music as well. I think sprites for the creatures would be cool if not roguelike...;) Perhaps the ability to preview item stats prior to equipping? I got stuck with a lamp and it did me in. Enjoyed this, thanks

Tiny the Adventurer by onehandclap 2012-05-01T19:29:00

Really enjoyed this. The utterly unforgiving difficulty is just hilarious, very old-school. I find the traps fair, it is rewarding in the way that easier games or games that back off the difficulty are not. Would appreciate restarting at the room you died in though, don't really see the reason to go back to the very beginning, unless you are planning to port this to arcade cabinet and have people pump coins in ;)

Delirium by Puccini 2012-04-24T19:54:00

Enjoyed the puzzle and platform mechanic, nicely put together. Would enjoy further exploration of the puzzles over more levels

Stampede at the Crooked Thorax Ranch by mimshwright 2012-04-23T18:23:00

Pretty exciting / frantic as they got into the inner zones, really nice interest spike. I liked the scene-setting at the start as well

Nook by PoV 2012-05-02T19:36:00

Superb entry! Great controls, excellent interpretation of the theme, how accomplished, contratulations!

T in Y World by Tom 7 2012-05-07T16:00:00

Really superb entry. Love the production rules based gameplay, I remember zit from years ago and this is a great homage. The presentation is great in terms of the retro ascii art and sound/music. To have this much content in 48hrs is a real achievement. My favourite is the "slime mold". It was a bit confusing which screens are "hub" screens, since they are made in engine, though this maintains the feel nicely. Great work

stack::tracer() by nihilocrat 2012-04-29T15:26:00

Very clever and well-executed idea, I love the concept! Loads of scope to extend the experience with further shapes, challenges etc. It would be cool to have music and perhaps a bit more "theming" as it is quite abstract obviously. Really good job though

The Elves end the Shoemaker by Nora Shishi 2012-04-24T20:02:00

I just loved that haha! Beat the hell out of a shoe, and why not? You've got sole dude...

Penguin by asfdfdfd 2012-05-02T19:41:00

Good controls, a nice mechanic of increasing risk / tension. Good rewards as well. It'd be good to have a bit more feedback when hitting the blimps, but good effort all round, the complete article!

Ant, Bee, Cow, Pig and Spider BOSS by karnakgames 2012-05-09T18:44:00

Very funny, irreverent, absolutely no idea what to do but I love the sound and presentation! Feels like it needs a bit more to flesh it out to a full game i.e a main menu, maybe some hints what to do, but I enjoyed scuttling around a while

Dont Touch the Button by amidos2006 2012-05-09T19:06:00

Really good presentation and sound, really like the scaling effect which causes a natural ramp in difficulty. It is kind of brutal and perhaps would be kinder if you didn't have to totally restart on death, maybe a "prince of persia" rewind? Good stuff, thank you!

Biodome by 7Soul 2012-05-06T17:11:00

Wonderful entry, the surprises kept on coming in terms of the controllable characters, the environments, the puzzles and the rewarding (and beautiful) watercolour cutscenes. Excellent music and presentation throughout. This is a very accomplished entry

Memento XII by deepnight 2012-05-05T16:16:00

Genuinely emotionally affecting, excellent story and integration with the theme. Aesthetic creates a brilliantly effective mood. It is like a haiku, I don't think adding to the length would add to the experience, this is simply superb.

Rambros by Black Ships Fill the Sky 2012-05-13T10:38:00

This is superb work! The graphics are to-die-for, as is the audio evoking real old-school arcade feel. The characterisation is really good and there is humour in the animations and effects. The destructible terrain was a really nice addition, but what sold it for me was a surprise rocket jump with Dolph(?), simply suberb, easily one of the best I've played, thank you!

ANT SURF HERO: THE SURFENING by JigxorAndy 2012-05-07T19:06:00

Hahaha I totally love the ending, this is a great game congratulations! It is a complete experience with surprises, rewards, skill and humour. The theme is superbly conveyed and all the elements hang together really well. I think there is scope for more "ant"ics, those are the best parts, but the second act brings the experience to a satisfying conclusion so really good stuff

Atom Grid by Suyo 2012-05-09T18:49:00

Intelligent, well put together, complete, loads of content. Could be a really useful educational tool with some more "the thing you just made is water" type messages perhaps? Quite difficult to work out what to do, the help page was a little intimidating so perhaps some in-game tutelage might work well?

Quest^3 by angryshroom 2012-05-11T19:26:00

Lovely artwork and a clever idea, well fleshed-out experience with the different enemies, combat, shopping and items. Took a bit of getting used to the terrain moving but it made sense eventually, would love to see different terrain types offering different kind of challenges perhaps? Good atmosphere and nice colour palette, of course sound would be a bonus and complete the package

Little Knight's Tiny World by jim3wg 2012-05-08T19:48:00

So polished in such a short timescale, great work! Love the colourful graphics, smooth animation, theme, and music. Also the game is very accessible due to the simple controls, all good.

Accretion by bastiandantilus 2012-04-25T07:05:00

Nice concept being a planet builder! I found the controls ok, and was keen to see what the next stage of accretion would look like. Plenty of scope to take this further - right up to galaxy/universe scale I suppose!

Faelanx by arkeus 2012-05-06T16:55:00

Excellent dungeon dive, really good progress and difficulty ramping, great selection of items, spells, stats, mobs and levels - a real achievement in 48h! Extremely well presented and well rounded experience

I Will Burn The Earth Down For You by EddieCameron 2012-05-09T19:48:00

Thought this was great! Took me a while to realise that I _had_ to have the boost going the entire time to stand any chance of catching the enemy, but when it clicked I appreciated the AI / algo which led to an interesting dogfight mechanic. Lovely presentation and story, and the music was fun too, a good package and fun for a good few minutes. Made in 4 hours? WOW

Three Trials by nek 2012-04-29T20:02:00

Great graphics, nice controls (wow he is one strong high-jumper!), but very hard.. a mini-map would be nice to have some idea of overall progress...

Nature Wisp by Killswitch 2012-04-29T13:38:00

Liked the crisp controls and the locks and keys puzzles, really nicely thought out levels that have clearly had a lot of care go into them. The colours were too saturated for my eyes, I think a small colour palette and larger tiles would make it easier to "read", not bad at all!

Drop of Life by MrTwister 2012-05-08T19:42:00

Beautifully presented, really original idea that fits the theme well. As others have noted using Conway's life is a really cool idea, but is pretty hard to predict the effect of your moves (NP-complete or something right?!) which means it is sometimes frustrating. I wonder if a tweak to the rules to favour life vs extinction would help? Really good package

Pixel World by RevoluGame 2012-04-29T14:07:00

Loved the character that arose as a result of the story snippets. The colours are good and go well together. I found the movement of the player sluggish - I'd recommend doubling the speed and see how it feels... The powerups were nicely implemented but some sounds would have really added to the experience. Overall, a good entry

Tiny Stomp by DoktorAce 2012-04-30T20:34:00

Simply superb, exactly the right sort of thing for this competition, well done! Plenty of scope to grow the experience as well

OWWW by moonmagic 2012-04-29T13:49:00

Congratulations on a great entry! The graphics are great, nice responsive controls, and good mood and sounds. The theme is well addressed but as others have noted I'd happily play more and explore the mechanics of your space more thoroughly; poor Terry!

Peppyland by spooks 2012-04-25T19:34:00

This was fun! Nice and self contained, a complete experience with *plot* and a compelling "just one more go" quality, like it. I enjoy the low res art with good colour palette. Good controls and feel and appropriate sound fx as well

Burger Defender by Beerman 2012-05-11T17:17:00

Very funny game! I loved the relentless march of the fatties, they just had to get into that burger at all costs. Great character sprites, generally nicely presented overall. I particularly liked the carrocket effects and carnage, a masterstroke! They were a bit too frequent an upgrade for my taste though and made it a little easy to just keep going. After I played a while I think I got good enough to just carry on indefinitely (score of 273...) - it would perhaps be easy to just increase the spawn rate through time? All in a a lovely interpretation of the theme and an enjoyable blast, thanks!

NanoQuest by Mago 2012-05-13T10:24:00

Great concept, really like the symbiotic ship/host mechanic which really makes you want to zap those smug looking bacteria. Really nice colour palette and generally good graphics. As others have noted some anims/ particles here and there could really help bring it to life even more, but in 48h this is a solid experience and well put together. The speed of the ship, enemies, bullets, enemy spawn rate etc are well balanced, and the controls are responsive - felt like the ship was going to go where I wanted. I didn't feel much need to move up and down though so perhaps you could encourage the player out of the "end zone" with some powerups further up etc? A complete experience

The Tiny World of Fiorella by strega 2012-04-25T19:59:00

Very nicely put together entry, good stuff! Art is gorgeous, and I enjoy the violin. I wanted to complete it and would have been glad of a "well done" but I see you've addressed that post jam, all good :)

Tiny Town vs. The Volcano by pbackx 2012-04-29T15:48:00

Great physics puzzler! Good range of puzzles, nice difficulty curve. Might have enjoyed more feeling of "reward" - perhaps some fireworks of some kind or some music. The sound effects worked well and I felt really bad when the city got hit, horrific!!

I want to turn the heater on by Andrew 2012-04-24T19:47:00

Enjoyed this! Really original, love the mind-warp aspect. It took me three attempts as it crashed a couple times (safari on mac) and for some reason I couldn't hear any sound. The graphics were great, funny and kind of creepy which I think is the theme you were going for... nice work :D

Destroy the Alien Planet by Tokken18 2012-05-09T18:54:00

Moody, dark and kind of forbidding, though with the tongue-in-cheek messages it was clear if you were going for dark or humorous. I think sound effects would resolve this! The graphics are amazing, really nicely put together system. A little hard to see where to go as quite dark, loads of scope to continue the experience though, good stuff!

Shrink! by Blayzeing 2012-04-23T17:11:00

Love the retro pixel style and moody/creepy soundtrack, would like to see where you'd take it next...

A Super Mario Summary by johanp 2012-05-02T19:31:00

Quite simply, YES! You don't need my comments, you know it's amazing. Not only is it an incredible achievement in 48 hours, it is brilliant in it's own right. Congratulations!

Universal Singularity by kratorspore 2012-04-25T19:29:00

I liked this! Pretty harsh difficulty curve but the animation was fun, and it was pretty compelling to get those crystals. I managed 4 and got telefragged by a house I think...

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-23T19:38:00

Thanks for the comments! Yeah I really hoped to make it so you dive atthe enemies and bayonet them or blast them at point blank range- just ran outa time ;)

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-25T07:30:00

Thanks for all the positive comments! Makes it totally worthwhile ;)

@Casino Jack 13 seconds is damn fast! Glad you enjoyed it

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-25T08:08:00

@Kendja Thanks! Yep I know re the walls. I tried it but it killed performance too much and there was no time to optimise for obvious reasons! Since walls are quite sparse there's plenty of scope to sort that out down the line though. Yeah I think the little dude is desperate to get his tiny weapon out too ;)

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-25T11:31:00

@Kendja Yes I hope to, depending on the comments here ;) Arming the player is top of list

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-25T20:09:00

Awesome comments, thanks all!! Really chuffed with the feedback so far for this game :D I will play everyone's but the windows ones will take a little longer as I'm mac ;)

@strega Haha yeah it is a bit like a suicide run, the player character is definitely crazier than his fellow soldiers ;) Yeah the balance is a bit off- agree re the sneaky side routes. I tried to block these to encourage player into centre, level design took second place on priority list tho ;)

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-25T21:07:00

@bastiandantilus Thanks for the feedback! Wow I haven't made it by crawling all the way without getting blown up ;) Yep its possible but it's kind of supposed to be a time-attack game hence the star rating when u get to the finish. I agree it's a little incoherent, wanted to arm player with a weapon to deploy behind the enemy line etc just ran out of time. Plan to follow this up though so cheers!

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-04-27T07:36:00

Thanks for all the brilliant comments - HE NOW HAS A WEAPON :D Dive at those damnable enemies to bayonet them into a bloody mess :D

This is a great community, thanks again

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-07T07:23:00

@trylle That's a great idea re the barbed wire, totally agree it could have a more active role. I wanted to have people getting snared up on it but ran out of time .. now maybe for another post compo! Re the resolution, yes sorry it is a bit small. In fact it is exactly the iPhone resolution and that is no co-incidence as I'm planning to port it ;)

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-07T07:24:00

@Tom 7 - Yeah perhaps when the world shakes the text should stand still haha! thanks for the great feedback. I will rearrange the tutorial at some point as I agree it could be improved, especially if new "attacking" mechanics get added to elevate it from dodge-em-up haha!

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-07T07:28:00

@Andrew The balance really needs work, thanks for pointing that out though I think it does need some tuning. The randomisation algo could be much deeper, all things to try out.

@Shadow Hey thanks for that! Seems to be quite a few platformers and quirky entries this time. I looked on last LD entries and there seemed to be more top-down games; perhaps people got top-down out of their system last time! I've got an excuse - this is my first LD ;)

@Keirua that is hilarious, I'm glad it managed to convey some emotion haha! I'd like to animate the player much better - guess that would help too

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-07T07:29:00

@Puzzlem00n - 12.88! Wow that is seriously quick! I have not done a sub 13s; thanks for spending time with the game and for the feedback re the back-story

@Hazematman - wow, that makes it all worthwhile - THANK YOU

Tiny World War by jimmypaulin 2012-05-12T08:47:00

@ilo Thanks for the deep feedback that is much appreciated! Yes it is deliberately random re the bombs, supposed to convey the randomness of war a bit, would prob get annoying if the levels took longer to complete but I think it just about gets away with it as is ;)

Correct, the bombs are the only threat when probe. I experimented with having the enemy foot soldier bullets still hit you while prone but it was just too confusing. Liking the idea of a bayonet attack though, that is a very interesting idea, thanks!

Tiny Tim's Race World by pythong 2012-05-01T18:50:00

Sometimes less is more, and I think that's true here. The minimal controls are refreshing, and the rhythm and simple soundtrack are quite hypnotic! The addition of high scores is good (post-compo?). More variety in obstacles would be welcome though

Gulliver by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2012-05-11T06:42:00

Wonderful music and ambience, really enjoyed the text communication that set the scene, right from the opening quotation (first use of literary quotation I've come across so far in this compo). Nice controls though I think it may feel better with a little acceleration and drag rather than instantaneous movement? Nice colourful graphics, good separation of figure and background and loads of scope for enemy types etc. Good levels and difficulty curve, the complete package, thank you!

Tinyville Confidential by Rose 2012-05-11T19:20:00

Love the text items and characterisation, really added to the mood. The graphics are superb, really nice work! I would love some audio to help the mood, something upbeat I expect? I found it quite hard to follow the interactions during the day, all sort of happened at once, but the mouseover icons at night made it pretty clear what to do, all in all a great entry!

Spheres.. by Nibelung 2012-04-25T06:52:00

really want to play this but the dl gets stuck on 92% and won't load :( safari/mac lion

Shake it up! by Tommyno222 2012-04-29T14:38:00

Excellent tileset and concept, a real achievement in the competition timescale I feel. Would have liked some more sound and music. I feel some sfx would have helped. It kind of feels "harsh" somehow; I think a dash of humour may have lifted it up the fun-factor, but it was a good challenge with well paced difficulty curve so nice one :D

Escape from Minimars by Adhesion 2012-05-09T19:39:00

Excellent aesthetics, the graphical tiles / segments are beautiful and evoke mars really well. The robot animations are lovely and the little people are cute so you *almost* feel bad vaporising them. It'd be cool to know how many you murdered haha ;) An amusing take on the theme and a coherent experience. I found it quite straightforward to play and perhaps some dynamic elements in the environment would have made it more exciting? All in all really good work

Frustrating Tiny Rooms by PapyPilgrim 2012-05-09T19:55:00

Extremely clever puzzles, a real achievement in the time available. Good clean presentation and functional sounds that add to the experience even if they don't define it. I guess it'd be cool to see something more along the lines of the theme, with some context rather than a purely abstract experience, but outside the realms of LD there is no requirement for this so I'm sure you'll have success with this neat package, thank you!

Tiny Archaeologist by toaster 2012-04-29T18:18:00

Great entry, nice controls, love the detailed graphical style and colours. Would have liked some sounds effects, and it was quite easy, but fun all the same. Nice!

Tiny Wizard by kebabskal 2012-05-08T17:48:00

Really enjoyed this! Good difficulty and interest curve, beautiful presentation, really nice text boxes etc really elevate the experience, smooth controls and varied enemies - great work!

The Lair by Lilleman 2012-04-29T15:32:00

Cool sprites, good colour choice, a complete experience. Would be nice to try with higher gravity, and perhaps some special effects and music?

Kupow by DSidhion 2012-04-24T20:12:00

Nice puzzles, 5 whole levels as well! The final level was too much for me I must confess; perhaps a more gentle difficulty ramp in a longer release?! Liked the music and the scrolling backgrounds too. Crisp controls, good stuff!

dot by Julian Ceipek 2012-05-09T19:25:00

Great ambience, really like the voice over, it is very immersive and really added to the experience. I enjoyed the hand-drawn effect graphics and the mechanics, though it wasn't easy to work out which way I was going / supposed to go / how to get there - but I guess that is the point! All good

70 seconds left by emveyh 2012-04-25T16:50:00

Great pixel art, loved the creature design and decent sfx too, nice one! I'd be interested to see some other "threats" of some kind in addition to the timer?

Fractality by zaratustra 2012-05-09T20:01:00

Extremely clever, really nice mechanics with the fractal level design. Is it possible to access all the sub-levels that you see on the way "down"? I did get stuck and had to reload the page a couple of times. It took me quite a while to realise the +/- mechanic - perhaps a tutorial type screen at the start to make the point clear? Also sounds would be good. Really liked the graphics and the controls were good though as others have mentioned the collision detection could use a little tweaking

LD28 — You Only Get One

The Visitor by Jezzamon 2013-12-21T20:57:00

Love love love! This is so full of charm, the way the character inches his/her way along with that poor abused limb… The dialogue was fantastic and very witty. The colour palette changes really broke proceedings up nicely. Controls tuned expertly well, a very accomplished game

Ursa Miner by Will Edwards 2014-01-02T16:14:00

Very technically accomplished and an interesting concept. I liked the feeling of flying through the unusual space and exploring around, though it didn't run particularly well on my ageing rig...

One Bullet by WebFreak001 2013-12-24T14:03:00

I get "not a valid WIN32 application" :( Probably my cranky old XP 32 bit box gasping its last. Which is a shame, because your game looks really inviting. How about a screenshot review? They look dark and inviting, and I can see some nice pixel work in there. Would like to see this ending!

Abe: Candlehunter! by gavintlgold 2013-12-24T13:54:00

Dark and moody, a quirky concept nicely delivered, the title screen art in particular is superb but the whole experience was created with care. It was damn hard though! It was tricky to p[lan the best route around the maps, more trial and error for me. Lots of potential I think

Patch by MarekkPie 2013-12-24T14:00:00

I really liked the graphics style and the effects between game modes were engaging. However the game lacked ... feel .. for me. Some sounds would have helped make it more rewarding - nothing much needed! Mapping the actions to mousewheel and RMB would also be cool. I could imagine clicking away at this to try to get the best score etc if there was just a bit more feedback... Pick your favourite Tetris and go, whoop!

Volcano Explorer by Gabriel 2013-12-24T14:12:00

Brilliant experience! Really fun entry, tightly put together and uber compelling. Love the graphical effects and the subtle way the avatar is lit from below (nice pecs!) Pretty unforgiving but rewarding nonetheless. I just wished for a hssssssss when you inevitably meet your fiery demise, hey ho!

Monster Interceptor by ehtd 2013-12-27T18:16:00

That was a really nicely put together experience, I was gutted when I failed and couldn't try again haha! The music really added to it as well. Decent graphics and clear instructions (though it took me a while to realise I could do -ve values for the cannon and even longer to realise I could tune the cannon in-flight). Alas, I have let humanity down once more!

EggNogForAll by ahm99 2013-12-24T14:56:00

For the duration that the gameplay experience lasted, I really enjoyed it! I liked the parallax backgrounds and the crisp graphics. Was it a postmodern comment on the futility of wasting hours of one's life in <insert crafting game of choice here>? Good fun ta ;)

Choice by mr.isaer 2013-12-24T14:52:00

Short but sweet, wonderful graphics and one creepy zombie.. I longed for sound but perhaps it was best as a silent movie as it was so very brutal and disturbing! Would be interested to see where you were planning to take this next / what the wider world was all about

KOSMOTROT by Todd Luke 2013-12-24T15:01:00

The song totally makes this haha! I love the comedy character with that podgy space suit farting his way around goodness knows where. The colours are even hilarious, a great effort! I would have liked a bit more fanfare for beating those levels though ;)

You only jump once by dqmhose 2013-12-22T21:23:00

This is brilliant! Like a cross between angry birds and super meat boy. I just love how the body parts hilariously launch after you've been shredded, I really enjoyed playing this but some levels were a bit too tricky for me. The humour you added with text really lifted the experience as well - congrats!

You only get one digit! by drnick 2013-12-19T23:52:00

Fits the theme well and kudos for the edumacational experience. It might benefit from a bit more "juicing" to make you feel more rewarded over and above the "you got it right/wrong" message

Fujo by TheSheep 2013-12-28T14:12:00

Pixel art dripping from the screen in gorgous pixelly jellyfish gobbets, clear text but not-so-clear direction... and I longed for sounds to bring this promising adventure more fully to life.

One Man Armies by pirate-rob 2013-12-24T12:33:00

Superb entry congratulations! I loved the parallax effect you get / 2.5d. The way your troops flock after you is really nicely implemented. The setup and story is first rate as well with loads of humour. I appreciated the "big faces" pixel art versions of the characters as well. You've put a huge amount of love into this and it gleams. Flocking boids I say!

Elves' Eve by Elemental Zeal Games Studios 2013-12-21T21:12:00

This was a really atmospheric and enjoyable game! I think I scored -17000 which I was pretty pleased with as it was exciting to pretty much trash someones house - an ostentatious kind of owner methinks! They really shouldn't go to bed with that fire blazing, the elf would do them a favour by making a bit of a racket ;)

Asteroids:Omega by peacegiverman 2013-12-20T00:19:00

smooth animation, like the glow very much. I shot myself and that was pretty amusing too! some sounds would have been cool - afxr is pretty good tool…. or some music. It was calming and contemplative, well done for finishing

Cool Fighter by KHANanaphone 2013-12-29T09:45:00

Love the pixel artwork and the concept of a fighting game in 48h is brilliant - thanks for putting this out there, refreshing!

Sixteen in One by zatyka 2013-12-25T21:42:00

This is a really talented concept, brilliantly executed and great fun to play! You have crammed so many platforming tropes in here, they really build nicely. I loved the braid reference and the penultimate level's twist (won't spoil!). Nice music and I never felt I was being punished unfairly. Great work!

Luminess by iiechapman 2013-12-28T12:56:00

Great controls, really well thought out and they embed you in the action nicely. I loved the vignettes between levels, really added character to the experience. Nice particle effects and fitting sounds round out the experience - decent level design too!

blomster by Ditto 2013-12-24T14:48:00

Really haunting and immersive game, the audio just draws you in! It works kind of subliminally - very creepy, what exactly were those things you were harvesting? Sadly too difficult for me to work out the puzzle as I kept coming back to that one "you are lost" place :/ The presentation was excellent

Braid 2 by magicdweedoo 2013-12-31T14:59:00

Hahaha absolutely love this! Played Braid and this is a truly fitting sequel. And that song .... fantastic work! Sadly, too hard for me with cheap bunny drops nailing me out. After 20+ attempts I gave up :/

The Zombie Skull Seeking Bullet by aare 2013-12-17T20:47:00

High five fellow Zombie LD'er! Love your interpretation of the theme, makes for a seriously challenging game. I really liked your environmental detail, the stacks of tyres, the motel... The Zombie schtick is there in full effect. Love the zombie art as well. It was beyond my skill level though - really wanted to explore more but kept shooting myself, doh ;) thanks!

CUOP DO SACI by leparlon 2013-12-20T00:35:00

This was hilarious! I really wanted to "get the knack" but let sadly eluded. what's the technique?! The santa hat makes it, really funny game. I would have liked some sound, though perhaps just hearing some poor dude repeatedly face plant would become too disturbing!! the pipe? hahaha!

YOGO PATH by cesisco 2013-12-20T00:01:00

The music is great, the silhouette really effective, the characters cute. I'm not sure it works quite right on OSX as the explosions leave a large black rectangle. Controls work well though - how does your procedural alto work? Does it vary from stage number to stage number or is always the same? Are all paths complete able? How do you guarantee? Interesting!

YOGO PATH by cesisco 2013-12-20T16:22:00

Thanks for the explanation, I like the looping mine delete part and also auto tiling- always a head scratcher but you nailed it and the results are so much better than just using a single square fully -filled tile as you often see. Could you recommend where you learned your auto tile algo or did u invent urself? Thanks!

YOGO PATH by cesisco 2013-12-20T17:20:00

Thanks!

No Way Out by Eniko 2013-12-17T20:37:00

Wow that was seriously intense! And since I found the way out, actually incredibly poingant. I don't think I've found such an emotional game on LD yet, thank you! The audio is key, but the red herrings really set up the dread feeling too - more to do would have been nice but given the time this is excellent

Mega Gungineer Chronicles 3: Final Gun! by StoneMonkeyStudios 2013-12-22T21:31:00

That gun!! I loved seeing how it would grow, I did become a total badass but I think there is a balance issue because it because a bit too easy after not so long - I filled the screen with fiery lead (?) which was cool at first but I felt I needed more challenge to keep me really hooked. Love the 3d models and the effects really bring it to life. More sounds too would have lifted this, but it's really accomplished and polished. Is it procedural? Does the environment wrap?

Azimuth Zero by Joror 2013-12-22T16:41:00

4X games fascinate me, this is a really nice implementation with some nice interlocking systems (game, and planetary). I read the text quite closely but still struggled to make huge headway though. Perhaps a more effective tutorial would be to get the player to perform the first few actions to order?

The Trials of Chad by Aaants 2013-12-20T20:49:00

Cheerful, engaging, great difficulty ramp and clear interface. This is an accomplished entry with legs (metaphorically speaking - some actual legs or something on the avatar wouldn't have gone amiss imho ;) Great sound and music too

Mad Mandy by blay09 2013-12-27T18:23:00

This was hilarious! I see what you did with the theme ;) I really enjoyed the intro movie, and the whole concept of unleashing hell as a result of some spoiled tantrum was really amusing. Sadly I kept spawning outside the building with no way in.. I was gratified to find the one action I was still capable of performing however ;) Thanks for the lolz

The Last Planet by Xaychru 2013-12-27T17:41:00

This was great fun! I absolutely loved the intro text, that was really funny .... this game comprises the last two LD's I took part in- Tiny World and You Are The Villain, coincidence? Lovely sounds and graphics, and funky music - compelling!

Tropic Warrior by blackmagic 2013-12-23T18:54:00

Graphics are superb! Really detailed and lovely animations - excellent colours and really engrossing work. At first I started by picking each enemy off with surgical precision (which was a bit difficult because some of my clicks didn't seem to register) but eventually I just picked up that crate (there's someone inside crumbling?!) and walked to the top. I stood and unleashed into the awesome boss and emerged victorious! Fun, thanks! PS. Miniguns FTW! Fancy trying my minigun game?!

One Twisted Button by etabubu 2013-12-23T19:10:00

This is great haha! Totally evil swapping you between mouse and keyboard like that but once I got the flow of it it played really nicely. I love the "escape on a train" setting, excitement! The sounds were really fitting as well and the artwork top notch. I would have like a faster restart between rounds as it was a bit tedious spamming the keyboard to try to get it to reset. Online high scores please!

Doki Doggie by Husky 2013-12-27T18:08:00

Really great pixel art, love the dog! Those dudes are creepy as well, I enjoyed smashing them up with the bowling ball :D The music was really fitting as well, and the parallax clouds were a great effect. I think I would have liked more variety in the terrain...

Granny Loosetooth and the Toothfairies by KayZ 2014-01-01T19:32:00

Like the irreverent setup very much, and the pathfinding etc. The graphics were cute and the munching sounds were great :) Good fun, but pretty hard….

Bomb has been defused by SkyWolf 2013-12-22T15:14:00

that was intense! I really liked how you had to work it out as you went along. Some particle effects on success would have been cool but the detonation was really great - enjoyed this one!

A Ronin Heart by TijmenTio 2013-12-31T15:37:00

Superb graphics and feel to this - the sounds are so atmospheric and really add punch to the swordplay. I like the double jump as well, it fells very well tuned. I didn't like the loading times - they were painful. I'd rather have been permitted a few tries at the same level rather than generating a new one every time.

un-Equipped by WojWorks 2013-12-16T20:49:00

Really great fun, sublime graphics and animations, those slimes were cute! Very challenging but the fact you have to go and retrieve your ammo from the vicinity of what you are shooting at really adds to the drama. A little more variety might have been good in terms of your actions - great work!

You only get one arrow by tobbez 2013-12-27T17:55:00

I really liked the skulls and the puzzle aspects were nicely put together. I liked the lock/key mechanic from that arrow - and the fact that that literally is a "1" arrow ;) Sounds really would have lifted the experience for me, but the controls and physics felt responsive and crisp

Rude Bear Resurrection by Alex Rose 2013-12-20T00:09:00

Really loving the networked aspect of this, unique in LD and very welcome - if only more games could leverage a server backend etc the possibilities are really great! The graphics were good, I admit I couldn't' really follow the story but he controls felt pretty good -the wall jumping worked well. I tried to get up those platforms that raise and lower like steps for quite a while but failed to progress further - something I was doing caused them to drop? Sounds effects would have been awesome. I didn't see the death messages of any other players - these are for your amusement?!

YOGOO by coolcade283 2013-12-30T17:15:00

Loved the comments in the header type read me snippet, nice graphical effects, good level of challenge … you made this in 2 hours? Great work!!

Last Call by addNothing 2013-12-24T14:29:00

That is worth hunting the download, what a creepy/hilarious game! I love your voiceovers and the blade-runner-esque setting with the trashy cyberpunk technology that barely works ... It was too hard for me though, and the interval between attempts a bit too long which made it slightly tedious. Otherwise, ggreat piece of work!

You Only Get Juan by barrucadu 2013-12-31T14:52:00

Nice concept, pretty confusing at first but part of the fun was figuring out what was going on! I think a little more variety in the sound effects would have helped as it started to sound a little repetitive. Original.

Better Half by ocmu 2013-12-16T21:21:00

Really good feel about this game, love the novel mechanic and the artwork, the extra modes round out the experience nicely, thanks :D

Oneitis by mmickyman 2013-12-27T17:49:00

A unique and quite creepy experience, I feel like I should cleanse myself somehow!! On the game side, it was difficult to know how I was progressing / what I was supposed to do / what (if any) effect my actions were having ... until the inevitable unfriending that was! Innovative but difficult to fathom

0RBITALIS by AlanZucconi 2013-12-24T12:11:00

I loved this game! Setting up a crazy trajectory that turned out to be stable was really rewarding. This brings to life just how hardcore NASA/ESA etc are when sending probes to distant planets - by literally playing this game to work out how to transition using the right amount of fuel etc (Orbitalis V2?!) The serene mood and peaceful sound effects work well. I liked the stability of the integration as well - was standard first order Euler enough btw? Great entry!

Food Survival by van noctar 2013-12-28T13:46:00

Incredible visuals, very amusing characters … what the hell was actually going on there?!!! I really couldn't empathise with the player character though - I wanted those poor starved hoards to get the chips/fries! Fun entry with superb sounds and simplistic gameplay

One Jump by Xanjos 2013-12-23T18:31:00

I liked this game! I thought the physics of the player were really good, and there were a good variety of tricky platforming tropes on display - falling and moving platforms, sticking to walls, switch plates etc etc. The difficult curve could have been a little smoother but given the time available this is pretty complete and really had that "just one more try" thing. Music would have added a lot, and perhaps some particles?

Old MacDonald vs Zombies by rogueNoodle 2013-12-17T20:10:00

Superb entry! The custom piano roll really makes this, along with the fab pixel art and animation. The difficult ramp was just right and it was satisfying trying to line up multiple kills. Really polished and fun to play, thanks!

Death In One Stroke by nicotuason 2013-12-21T19:53:00

This was excellent! The FEEL was spot on, the pace, the difficulty .. the juicy particles and lovely clear graphics all conspired to make a compelling experience … 22 was my best, playing on a trackpad ;)

Button"Space" by miklyha 2013-12-29T09:50:00

No matter how hard I tried, I could not make it off the first platform! Seriously, this is a tough way to start a game … Love the artwork, disappointed not to be able to experience more of the content!

Babelita by Kuupu 2013-12-24T14:38:00

Absolutey incredible! The care, love and attention that oozes from Babelita just blew me away. I love the artwork and teh animations are so juicy. Great variety of platforming tropes without anything becoming repetitive or outstaying its welcome. The fez-like transitions between levels lent a really cohesive feel and the controls were bang on. You even have the easter egg of high scores, and I'm proud to say that JAM's 3:08 was at the top :) The clocks etc embedded in the tiles were another example of the care and thought here - recommend without hesitation

Seed by deadlypear 2013-12-22T10:49:00

Upbeat and lively, a really nice idea and the first cellular automata I've come across this LD! I think I found an attractor state because it kept running for over a minute without significantly changing state. Lovely music and graphics, it is juicy but I'm not sure I really understood what made the best start position, being unable to execute the CA in my head ... Have you found any garden of eden states?!! ;)

Find Santa by rosa89n20 2013-12-31T14:48:00

Really creepy, love the pixel art - when I first encountered a naughty imp it really made me jump! However, I didn't feel like I was progressing in any meaningful way, so I don't know if I won or not really...

Drug Sweeper by Jimanzium 2013-12-16T20:19:00

Enjoyed the smooth controls and the puzzle like elements, lovely graphics too (e.g the way pickups get sucked to you is nice touch). Of course sound would have made a difference but the upgrade system was a lot to achieve in the time, enjoyed this

Bursts by sam1373 2013-12-31T14:36:00

Nice movement and effects, felt good to play but very difficult! The music is really fitting too and the mazes are cool. Ability to set mouse sensitivity would have been great

You Only Have One Pair of Underwear! by @TeddyNashor 2013-12-16T20:33:00

Brilliant! Funniest game I've yet played, really enjoyed this. I loved all the little touches like how you run past hundreds of ladies' toilets - typical haha! The music was great and the graphics were really clean and clear, excellent work thank you - oh, and congrats on your graduation!

One Rogue by rincewind_cz 2014-01-06T19:25:00

Excellent artwork and really nice feel to the movement - though it could be a little faster to walk? Excellent sounds and a good variety of enemies, environment objects and backgrounds - I think if I was spoonfed some kind of story this would also be nice

Alien Plant by internetpaulicy 2013-12-23T19:28:00

This was really fun! I particularly loved that gaping maw and how the people you cack-handedly launch into orbit splat like lemmings when they touch back down - hilarious! I wonder if it would have worked better with a key to press to shoot straight down with? Great entry! (ps I answered your post on my game - please have another try it's not broken honest;)

Uno Terra by Diptoman 2013-12-22T10:56:00

Huge amount of content for the time available, excellent crisp presentation and nice tutorial - the complete experience! Was a bit difficult to ascertain the longer term goals but I think I did ok ;)

In a maze with one by okmmjyygv 2013-12-28T13:11:00

I liked the random maze generation and the three skills. The pixel art was pretty nice too and the controls felt quite good (though perhaps a little acceleration on the player would liven things up). A couple of things that would have really helped me would be a countdown on the number of uses for each skill, and an arrow/compass pointing at the exit as I had no idea where to go - and since you get a different maze each time it seems a bit random if you can solve it or not.

Stillness of the Beast by ryann 2013-12-23T19:12:00

"Not a valid WIN32 executable" :((

Stillness of the Beast by ryann 2013-12-24T12:16:00

Works for me with your new executable! Like the graphics of the dojo and the sword sounds are nice, It was a bit difficult for me though and died within 2-3 seconds each time I tried to play - need to brush up my reaction times methinks! Perhaps a bullet time mode etc would make it easier?

The Last Egg by fluffypillow 2013-12-22T20:04:00

The graphics sell this so very well, I love the squiggly foliage - like a dream made straight into a game (with added nightmarish tentacles). Excellent difficulty ramp rounds out the experience

Cable by eemmbbeerr 2013-12-21T21:04:00

This was so funny! I absolutely loved the inter-level vignettes, the characterisation was hilarious. The platforming controls were a little difficult to get to grubs with but it really made me laugh, thank you!

The Misfight by dudsen 2013-12-20T00:38:00

Really enjoyed this! Slick product, really superb graphically and the sounds was fantastic - perfect bar room brawl music and it really had atmosphere. I wish I could have enjoyed the sprites a bit more - i was too busy looking at the target text to really take them in. Perhaps some kind of "action slo mo replay" of your final bottle to the chops would have clinched the deal?

Night Fall by coeoliver 2013-12-22T21:37:00

Actually quite intrigued by this - a difficult maze and I got a bit lost but the concept is not one I've seen before. The colour palette is appealing and I wanted to know where I was going … perhaps giving some more sign posting would have helped me on my way to …. ? I'd happily play more if this was more complete

Tara by Namide 2013-12-25T21:22:00

I liked the enemy attack waves and the parallax effect was really good. I'm a badass space seagull of doom!

--- by Zephyr Raine 2014-01-02T10:46:00

Refreshing to see some grown-up humour and it is well executed. Was a bit unprepared for the level of grown-up-ness - your reliable journalist missed that bit out

Wilhelm's Escape by glovecat 2013-12-21T13:21:00

Seriously, this is one accomplished entry! Spent an awful long time getting a great many screams from poor Wil, but I am too dumb to save him. The mood with that rain and wind is superlative, incredible animations and a lot of humour in there - reminded me of a cross between Monkey Island and Saw ;) Excellent work!

Take one thing with you. by background_nose 2013-12-16T20:27:00

Haha this was brilliant! I kept getting "Total worth: NaN" - you simply must have left that in as a joke to other programmers right ;) The fog-of-war type lighting was really nice, the controls felt great though I'd have liked the camera to lead rather than lag the avatar as it was easy to run into trouble. Sound would have added to this, but it had a lovely feel

Our Story by CarlsonAndPeeters 2014-01-01T19:22:00

Really moody and engaging - the text led me through brilliantly and really imparted emotion into proceedings - I was a bit gutted about the ending! One of my favourites this LD

One Minute Left by RocketDuke 2013-12-24T15:04:00

Could actually be quite fun if it was a bit more varied / challenging but it was too easy to beat. Nice and smooth though and your text was pretty funny. Nice that it had the count down though I didn't feel any massive ramp in tension... a few more particles etc would have lifted it. It was a nice effect when the planet was hit

Moments of Paranoia by SpellingPhailer 2013-12-28T13:27:00

Amazing tension and mood, really excellent sound and animations … but I failed to "play it" in any meaningful way. I was presented with a ticking clock and the people just stood there. I tried clicking the mouse, heard a bang, and saw credits :/ If the intro dialogue was skippable that would be teh awesome, really impressive detail and setting and mood

Unibrow by ViliX64 2013-12-28T13:21:00

Great concept, nice execution! Felt guided along by the signposts and was excited to see where things went… That spike pit on L6 is impossible though?!!

You have only one... by teamMightyFingers 2013-12-24T13:28:00

Graphics to die for (sorry). Really quirky and amusing, love the environments as well. I wasn't really sure what I had to do though and I encountered a couple of different showstopping tech problems - first the frame rate died and second something about gridX 0 . Chrome on Windows XP 32bit. Very polished and love the music

To That Sect by gamesbyangelina 2014-01-02T16:27:00

Amazing achievement, I saw some writing about your research a while ago with a Christmas based puzzler platformer iirc - although the resulting game here is straightforward, the fact that it was "composed" (?) by a creative algorithm is fantastic, it must have been a very satisfying process for you! Maximum innovation and I think Ludum Dare will appreciate seeing more from ANGELINA in the future...

Caverns of the Curse of Greed by Espyo 2013-12-31T15:17:00

So much content for 48h! I love all the tools, it was really exciting and rewarding seeing what each one did. That glorious fling on L5 ... Nicely thought out levels and decent graphics and controls. I would have preferred stronger gravity as it felt a little too floaty to me, and of course sound would have been awesome, but this is an excellent entry

Tsuba by Daveloper 2013-12-21T21:17:00

Fantastic atmosphere, amazing graphics and really compelling concept! Excellent difficulty curve and deeply satisfying play … the sounds simply makes it. Would have liked some kind of "progress ladder" to motivate me to carry on for the "big boss"

One Night at the Space Opera by davekalina 2013-12-29T09:56:00

Superb production values. Love the triangular graphical style - really stands out from the crowd. The characters are brilliant as well and I love the way the different voices all sing in harmony (sort of) - rather difficult game but I enjoyed it and the story aspect really adds to the mood

The Selene Project by sandbaydev 2013-12-21T13:00:00

Wow, that felt like such a deep and profound experience - I really had to stop and think about some of the answers and I would be deeply intrigued buy some stats of what others put (perhaps you dump stats if you select "privacy is more important than security" hehe ;) I have to say - I got exactly the ending I was hoping from from my choice of answers and that was really rewarding in itself! I feel uplifted from this! Hugely atmospheric, wonderful presentation and a huge amount of thoughtfulness in this entry. I suppose I'd have liked to have seen some fireworks for the ending to make more use of the 3d chamber you have so carefully crafted, but the two phase approach works really nicely. Contemplative!

Magnet Chan by jillytot 2013-12-22T20:22:00

Whisical, upbeat, pretty, meditative .. I really enjoyed this game! It could have been too difficult to be enjoyable but actually it was pitched just right, and the character is soooo cute! Over too soon :(

Nature's Howl by louis.denizet 2013-12-24T13:20:00

Absolutely beautiful experience congratulations! I loved the pace of this game - the gentle difficulty ramp, the golrious visuals and the idyllic sounds. The wolves were scary with that horrible noise when they died! I really like how you did the tips in the disappearing writing, that was a very nice touch. All in all a really interesting and memorable entry. The flocking behaviours were also great fun to watch and interact with. I love flocking behaviours and emergence, top marks

A Precious Arrow by Benjamin 2013-12-23T19:35:00

Great entry! I really wanted to save that arrow, it was temptin to use it tho

A Precious Arrow by Benjamin 2013-12-23T19:39:00

I particaularly enjoyed that horrible thing in the swap to the right - excellent animations and sound and music too, thanks!

Te y De by Rodaja 2013-12-22T14:51:00

Graphics crisp and effective, liked getting the hang of the throw and immediate jump mechanic though it was a very challenging game and that red dude was n.a.s.t.y. ;)

Handle with care by Cawrtz 2013-12-16T20:04:00

Enjoyed this a lot! I think your use of the theme is really excellent, keys are so often seen as throwaway in games, this make it something extremely precious! Very much enjoyed the graphics and animation. I found it hard though, and quite often jumped on landing when I didn't want to - probably just me ;) Thanks!

CROSSBORE by (Not) Ivano 2013-12-22T15:02:00

Absolutely love the animations and enemies, they are superb! Your title fonts are lovely too, and the controls feel really good. Some more sounds would have brought the world to life a bit more I think, also putting a black border around your white text would have helped it stand out imho… It was pretty darn hard though as others have mentioned ;)

The One Fork Restaurant by drludos 2014-01-06T19:19:00

Love the jolly graphics and animations. The tutorial screen is excellent and the controls were very easy to pick up. There is a well-judged difficulty ramp and a pleasing dash of strategy to be had! I suppose I would like to see a little more variety in the foodstuffs / customers (like a really fat guy or something?) but this is a really great entry

One Shot by nzgiije 2013-12-22T20:35:00

Wow I really enjoyed this! Really innovative and the presentation was amazing. Totally compelling and the achievements really kept me clicking away! I guess it lacks that metagame feeling of progression, but really it is just so much fun trying to find all the interactions it didn't matter. Great work!

Invalid Identity by Borkpaladin 2013-12-28T13:05:00

I really enjoyed this game, thank you! The ray-casting lighting was rally effective at making me feel lost - it was hard though, perhaps allowing the walls to fade out slowly like an after-image once highlighted just a little bit? The controls are really good and the combat was satisfying with good sounds and effects. I also really appreciated your amusing comments on success/death - the whole concept of destroying corrupt CEOs from the timeline was great fun :) I'd like to have seen more variety in the graphics with proper sprites etc.. the core experience is tight and has legs

Protogun by Solluxx 2013-12-21T12:41:00

Finally got to my PC and ... it was WORTH THE WAIT! This is a brilliant game, one of the best this LD. The complete package, feels really solidly built and put together with clear exposition and a nice premise. But .. IT IS FUN! It really was satisfying getting that killer shot (especially on Level 8 - that was hard!) and the quick restart times add to the dynamic feel. The graphics, of course, are outstanding. Great work! Perhaps some online scores could take this forward? You could take this a long way I think, nice one ;)

BlocknBalls by Zenkerdus 2013-12-16T20:15:00

This was actually strangely compelling and I really felt the need to beat those evil greens! but.... it was way too hard for me ;) I felt my stamina ebbing but got really excited when I made it to the first checkpoint - this might not be so tough I though, but WHAM not a checkpoint, back to the start I goes :/ Liked the puzzle aspect very much though ;)

Tough by anvoz 2014-01-01T17:38:00

Enjoyed this game! The mystery of trying to work out what to do was fun to try to solve. I twigged that suicide was the only option and noticed the unusual way the hud is embedded in the world but didn't put 2 and 2 together. Good presentation, would have loved sound ;)

Monochrome by ApoorvaJ 2014-01-01T19:40:00

Wow, that packed some real emotional punch! Thank you for that pause in my day - moving and haunting, this is a great "game"

Minute Dreams by piotrszoka 2013-12-31T15:44:00

This is a seriously slick and accomplished piece of work and I absolutely do not believe you've never made a game prior to this ;) The controls are so well tuned, the aesthetics integrate so well and the style is distinctive. I really like how the avatar rolls and jostles etc, it feels great. Very hard though - your introduction to wall jumping on Cyan L2 was brutal! Great work (music great too)

Noir by themachinestarts 2013-12-31T15:03:00

An original feeling game, love the characterisation and the details you've filled it with. The black and white imagery really helps set the scene as well - enjoyed it!

Thrust Issues by Gravedrinker 2014-01-02T17:02:00

Loved this game! Loved the artwork and how the spaceship's eyes followed the movement around. Really smooth play as well. I perhaps would have preferred a single key for L/R thrust with some other contrivance to ensure you can only operate one at a time. Would love to hear the sound to accompany this gem

Dinosaur Ranger Interview: Burrito Challenge SUPREME by Udell Games 2013-12-22T20:59:00

This was absolutely hilarious! I loved all the questions, the quirky interview and the new phrases with which you have furnished us for curling one down ;) very amusing entry thank you

The TORPEDO by windwalkerranger 2013-12-16T20:57:00

Very slick, very accomplished. That is an extremely solid implementation in the timescale. The water effects and caustics were really lovely and the colour palette soothing. The sounds were fitting and the UI felt ... solid .... It was rather difficult though - perhaps for the first level showing how far the torpedo would get at a given speed i.e. visually plot the route, just to train the eye? Thanks

No double jump :( by Wspon 2013-12-24T13:48:00

Nice little platformer with plenty of variety and thoughtful puzzles! I was very glad of those checkpoints, how kind of you! Good sounds too. The character physics were a little unusual, but worked in the context of the game. Thank you!

Lumen by Nelien 2013-12-21T20:00:00

Deep, dark, mysterious, creepy, beautiful .... fishy? In a good way :D Thoroughly enjoyed this, absolutely bang on feel and really nice controls - you have the physics balanced to a tee and the lighting effects are just excellent, thank you!

Oscar's World [You Only Get One Childhood] by Gazpachogames 2013-12-16T20:10:00

Beautiful artwork and backgrounds, love the theme setting text and moodiness. Quite sombre and reflective! As others have mentioned the controls are rather unforgiving - but as a fellow WASD+mouse developer I sympathise! Love the music too

ESCAPE FROM PRISON! by Flux 2013-12-22T20:06:00

I was really excited to play this but sadly I just get a black screen with the words item in your pocket and go to mess hall :( Safari 6.1 on Mac

Mumps: Fear of Contagion by psychonull 2013-12-22T20:30:00

Moody and creepy, I loved how the story unravelled gradually and built the tension - just a shame about those controls because I got stuck at one point and couldn't work out how to proceed. Great effort!

YourOneAndOnly by npgames 2013-12-17T20:54:00

Really enjoyed this game! I was dreading there being an odd person left over at the end who would be forever alone ;) Fitting music, really nice particles and I liked the fact you could set your own pace. A little slow at the start I think I would have preferred the characters to walk a little faster. I think an antagonist would have spoiled it

SpaceDock by plutgamer 2013-12-20T00:13:00

Like the particles, and also like the realistic physics! gets very challenging very quickly (instantly!) but eh sound effects are quite rewarding. I think it was too hard for me

The Initiate's Spell by Nut 2013-12-22T21:06:00

I had fire, that is one dangerous spell! Absoltely love the graphics though - I thought I was pushing things with 8x8 sprites in my game and you show how much life you can get out of 4x4 - outstanding! I was hoping for a bit more feeling of progress when I finally managed to burn that green dude out but he just disappeared. So then I tried to burn him to, hey ho ;) Thanks enjoyed this very much!

The Initiate's Spell by Nut 2013-12-23T22:23:00

Heh, I meant the little character top right of ur main screen - obviously not a dude wearing minty green fireproof pants ;)

Revenge of the Last Guardian of Destruction by AzzaMat 2013-12-24T12:22:00

Love the fast-paced feel and slick visuals - the toon shader type effect is really nice and it all feels really well put together. I wasn't sure quite what the objective was because I could "win" by just right clicking as soon as I started up - kind of felt I was missing the point of helicoptor carnage by doing so thoug ;) Love the minigun (high five fellow minigun weidling game!) and the music ....... hmmmm! ;) very funny and fun entry

Javel-ein by managore 2013-12-23T19:03:00

Absolutely superb! Feels so crisp and juicy to play. Really appropriate sounds and the artwork is to die for. The collectables added another dimension and it really felt good to throw that javelin and score multiple hits. Interesting AI patterns from the beasties, all in all a pretty much flawless entry... oh go on then, music please ;)

Ricochere by Knighty 2013-12-28T21:38:00

Loved this game! lovely graphics and concept

Happiness by Fenmar 2013-12-24T14:21:00

Absolutely amazing! I enjoyed this so much, thank you! One of the strongest narrative games this LD so far - the way the entire experience was orchestrated by the voiceover was just brilliant. It really was creepy in a GlaDOS kind of way, but with a much drier humour - your accent added to the effect if you don't mind my so saying! The way the environment responded to you in surprising ways kept it feeling really fresh. I suppose I'd have liked a final encounter to finish it off akin to the dark area, but really I'm nitpicking - great work!

Last Minute Christmas Chopping by Notch 2013-12-15T22:32:00

Compelling. The controls felt very tight and nicely tuned with a real pop to them. Very readable graphics and the sound adds a sense of gravitas to proceedings. Jolly and complete, thanks!

Can you hear me? by Jago 2014-01-01T19:28:00

Love the idea, the sounds were superbly immersive, but it was too hard - felt very lost and not obviously able to locate to sounds / when I did nothing happened that helped me feel I was on the right track. Love the concept though!

Jump Chip by arkeus 2013-12-22T17:02:00

Superb entry thank you! Damn hard but worth persevering to experience the great level design. Great aesthetics and the characterisation rounds out a very polished entry. What's not to love! Thanks for AXEL too - came in very handy for my entry ;)

a Pantless Man with a Clueless Plan by Detocroix 2013-12-30T17:20:00

Absolutely love this experience! Really accomplished pixel art, amusing text and great sounds - great work! I suppose more "to do" would have been nice

The Amporius Project by small trouble 2013-12-24T13:24:00

This really has legs, enjoyed playing it thank you! As other have mentioned, just when things were getting going they concluded - I would love to have played perhaps 10 levels? Some sound effects would also have been great.

Going Around by daredevildave 2013-12-21T20:08:00

Amazing amount of content for the time available, very cohesive world and great characterisation - impressive tech as well ;)

Public Mischief Performance by Jwatt 2013-12-20T20:32:00

Love the characterisation with the judges and their pithy comments, the faces are superb. It wasn't particularly intuitive though to me - and I did "read the manual" despite being told off for not doing so ;) Very amusing entry thank you

Singularity by Cake_Catastrophe 2013-12-24T13:33:00

This has potential, nice colourful sprites, cool music, thoughtful enemy attack patterns too. I feel you wanted to reach to make a complete game with many levels and waves .. for me fewer levels and more polish would have been more fun - some particles on death etc would have added a lot to this, as well as some scrolling background effect (or perhaps we are defending an area?)

Space to Proceed by Canyon 2013-12-27T17:33:00

Like the scene setting and characterisation very much, this compensated for the lack of graphics nicely. The sounds were appropriate. I would have preferred it if the rotation was faster - perhaps with acceleration so you can still have fine aiming along with faster panning?

PUSH by Patacorow 2013-12-16T21:05:00

Superb work! Absolutely love the art work, and the game feels so solid with crisp controls and wonderful sounds and music to tie it all together. Really nice puzzling - a great achievement in the time available. Liked the touch re selecting menu items in-engine. Would have preferred no anti-aliasing on the upscale to preserve crispness

Robot Rescue by fantasywiz54 2013-12-24T13:39:00

Liked the platforming controls feel, liked the concept behind scanning other robots to collect their accessories ... some goal would have tied it together so I knew what I was supposed to be doing a bit more. Not bad!

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-15T12:49:00

Cheers! Sadly get bitten and it's game over!

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-15T22:34:00

Those crafty zombies! Heh, thanks I know they can sneak out from time to time; just have to suicide and try for a higher score ;) My best is 640 btw

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-16T19:13:00

Hi @windwalkerranger, that er - feature - should be fixed now, thanks for pointing it out. V annoying not to be able to beat the game when it's deserved ;)

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-16T20:28:00

Thanks for the excellent comments! I loved making this game, LD is such an excellent community

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-17T09:25:00

Thanks for the awesome comments! My favourite minigun scene of all time has got to be in PREDATOR when Mac tries to get even for Blaine's untimely demise.... "Contact!!!"

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-17T15:38:00

@ocmu Yeah I agree it's a bit difficult to tell sometimes, the game started off much brighter but I felt adding the gloaming darkness added to the atmosphere at the expense of clarity- I tried to strike a balance but it's not easy in the time ;)

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-17T15:40:00

@somepx Thanks for playing! Yeah Cannon Fodder was one of those formative gaming experiences that stayed with me from back in the day ;)

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-18T07:33:00

@badlydrawnrod Thanks! The zombie groans are my 6 month old daughters little noises slowed down in Audacity, high five to fellow father -daughter team!

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-21T09:29:00

Thanks for the comments all!

@Toureiro - really useful comment, ta! Have added the word "HOLD" to the instructions. Thanks @sollux for the suggestion ;)

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-23T00:47:00

@doctorscientist It's no bug, you just have to HOLD left click to shoot ;) Please have another go I'd really value your feedback!

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2013-12-23T21:55:00

@solluxx @daredevildave @cesisco @Spelchan YOUR WISH IS GRANTED!! I've added a 3X view option. Fwiw, I prefer it too !!

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2014-01-06T09:03:00

@drludos thanks for the great feedback! Yeah I had trouble with getting the "humans turn into zombies" thing across- needs a little cut scene I think. I used the "Axel" framework by Arkeus

Midnight Minigun by jimmypaulin 2014-01-06T21:40:00

@loxo thanks for the insightful comment and honest appraisal! That's a great idea re instancing, hadn't thought of that :)

Match Girl by DDRKirby(ISQ) 2013-12-23T19:22:00

Yes! And Yes again! This is right up there with the best this LD. A truly accomplished and enjoyable game. The different mechanics layering on each other a building smoothly with that compelling instinct to play one more round. Really nice how it automatically gets easier each time you restart as you get another look and the level as well. I really enjoyed this, well done!

One Button Racer by badlydrawnrod 2013-12-16T20:44:00

Really enjoyed this one! The music was amazing and the gameplay was really smooth and almost puzzle-like. Would you believe I actually have a one-button racing game for iPad? It's called Spline Racer if you are interested :D Vroom!

Monoskill by Smitty333 2013-12-27T18:32:00

Excellent selection of skills, how you got all this in in the time I don't know - it is very impressive! Good sounds, interesting creatures / attacks etc and nice crisp graphics. This was a good one!

Christmas Cookie Craze by UndergroundPixel 2013-12-21T15:00:00

Very polished and accomplished entry! The graphics were superb and I loved the cartoon at the start - and Santa's crazed expression (hell - who would be a bit crazed after delivering 3 billion presents). I think it could have benefitted from a little more variety - perhaps different objects on different floors? Really nice presentation

Reaccion 28 by Paco 2014-01-01T18:00:00

Good difficulty curve, enjoyable puzzling! Like the presentation and the concept. Hit a bug whereby the ball would lounch every time I hit restart though which broke it

TITAN SOULS by Claw 2013-12-21T20:47:00

WOW, quite simply this is an incredible, professional quality experience. The colour palette alone is superb, the smooth and detail animations, the music is scintillating. Congratulations!

Fountain by Terry 2013-12-22T14:56:00

Moody and atmospheric, cracking graphics and real charm. Actually quite haunting, especially with that soundtrack and the gradually draining colours. I found it a little difficult to empathise with the player character, but perhaps the mysterious aspect was the point...

The dragon journey by strong99 2013-12-20T20:40:00

Excellent mood, fabulous crisp and moody graphics - the silhouettes really work well and contrast with that flame. The difficulty was good, perhaps I could have handled it being a bit harder towards the end as I completed it first time. Some music would have been awesome as well, but a really nice entry - the intro set the scene really well too

Minigolf Exam by Dr. Mo 2013-12-24T13:44:00

This was quite fiendish and I enjoyed beating it! The puzzles were nicely thought out with a good difficulty curve. Perhaps my PC is a bit anceient but it seemed to run around 15fps which was actually quite uncomfortable to watch after a while. If it was smoother this would be a total win, good work!

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Fluid Perspectives by Jezzamon 2014-09-14T19:05:00

Extraordinarily good, highly accomplished and FUN, congratulations! The puzzles built in complexity really nicely and all the controls and physics felt very solid and never unfair. The transition between the characters and change of music and tone was a masterstroke, really enjoyed this

Connect with the Dirt by Larzan 2014-09-02T19:31:00

I found this an intriguing experience, thank you! Planning where to launch to get the best site for my next life added a strategic element to the platforming. The controls were very clean and the game felt solid. I liked the presentation and sound effects, some music would have been a happy addition

CandyWorm by midgard 2014-08-30T15:40:00

I really love the art style, the music is cool and controls feel really tight, I like the dramatic progression throughout the game, some sfx would have been brilliant but you've made a cool little game here

One Ship Two Ship Redshift Blueshift by 01010111 2014-08-27T20:21:00

Excellent work I really enjoyed this! Love the music and sfx, really juicy gameplay and I can imagine how playing against another person would be hilarious with the rocket spam haha :D Wasn't completely clear how far ahead the goal was or who was winning, but I really enjoyed the way the gameplay switched between the two hitherto unrelated styles

Get Set by ryguydavis 2014-08-27T20:45:00

Haunting experience, in the best possible way! There was a sombreness and a nobility about the little dude/dudette's flight - the enemies were genuinely unsettling. Really enjoyed this challenging game

Bipolar World by havana24 2014-09-10T20:00:00

Absolutely LOVE this entry, my favourite game of this LD thank you so much! From the awesome graphics to the superbly tuned controls, the music popping in and out as you pass the two worlds, the interpretation of the theme, the level progression and the way the story builds - simply sublime 5/5

Me And My Ghost by jahlgren 2014-09-14T18:46:00

It's the details that make this such a fun experience. The zipper effect on end of level, the particles as you run, the crosses in the ghost background... All show enormous care and attention. The music is cool and fits the beautiful pixellated style (excellent colours selected, great work), of course sound effects would have added a lot to this but the difficulty ramped nicely and I really enjoyed the change of pace between alive/dead.

Orbit by Noah Ratcliff 2014-08-30T15:50:00

This had a melancholy edge to it, mainly I think due to the low-key sounds which added so hugely to the experience! The physics felt solid and the puzzles were satisfying to complete though somewhat on the hard side! Would have liked some more bling I suppose but that might have made it confusing, as it stands, a decent solid entry

The Two that Should Not Have Been by andrewkennedy 2014-09-14T19:25:00

This was really fun, you crammed so much into this it was great. I really liked the two different attack styles and the idea of teleporting to the white sword was very elegant. I stayed to the end and had a nice feeling of satisfaction when I worked out how to beat the boss. I think you have potential for a game like this if you wanted to keep working on it

ShiftKeeper by egor-idiot 2014-09-14T19:14:00

Incredible graphics and animation, lovely effects and hugely atmospheric backgrounds, a clear and well-implemented idea. Longed for sound to add that final level of polish but was rather taken with this one, I think the best gfx I've seen this LD

HEDGE HUNTERS by rohin 2014-09-05T17:35:00

I really like the maze and packman esque mechanics, I think this has real potential with just a few more elements - first on my wish-list would be a goal to win the level and second would be a way to turn the tables on those sneaky hedge hunters and give them what-ho, if you know what I mean ;) +1 for hilarious blurb

Flicker by PapaCheech 2014-09-14T18:27:00

Extremely accomplished for 48h, the polish and atmosphere makes this a compelling experience, really nice pace and well-readable visuals. This really sucked me in more than many other entries this LD, to the point where I nearly jumped out of my skin on one occasion when I died, great work! :)

Dimension Crawler by theloafobread 2014-09-05T17:44:00

This was a delight, really love jumping puzzles in FPS's and this was a great example. I really enjoyed how you have to remember where the platforms were before switching mid-air, a satisfying mechanic. Perhaps to discourage sneaky peeking you could set a lower limit on the time a world must be active before switching to another? Very difficult on trackpad I should add. Accomplished design that begs for sound

The Bunny Theory by cudabear 2014-09-05T17:40:00

I really enjoyed this! It was actually quite compelling, the way those beautifully drawn goombas kept on advancing was quite menacing but I did like the attack/defend mechanic you get my inverting the world. The inversion effect was handled really well and overall the game performed smoothly. The sounds and music were great too. I would have loved to see some particles and shakes just to 'juice' things up and some more momentum in the player physics too I think. Very good fun :D

These Cosmic Chains by ploogle 2014-08-30T15:18:00

One of my favourites so far! LOVE the soundtrack, really interesting mechanic and certainly nailed the theme - what's the backstory with the chains?! The quotes lift the entire experience, a great touch

Lice evolutions by xrm0 2014-09-05T17:48:00

This was totally hilarious thanks for the laughs! It took a while to work out what the heck was going on but once I got in the lice mindset things flowed well. The sounds totally make it, I love the human animalistic babbling while the anthropomorphic lice steal the show with their intricate (overly, deliberately so?) fights. I think it lacked a clear sense of progression and I didn't really know how well I was doing, but it did make me laugh

A Light In The Darkness by TobiasW 2014-08-30T15:27:00

That was a really interesting experience, I just wish it wasn't a lonely one! Sadly the solo mission was all that was available to me. It was a melancholy kind of feeling, standing there in the dark, the flames of the torch guttering, wondering if my adventure buddy would ever turn up - alas twas not to be and the torch sputtereth it's last ;) Thanks for the memories!

Heaven or Hell by EMAK 2014-09-14T18:41:00

The presentation was absolutely superb here. The little animations were charming, I particularly liked the devil's triumphant mugging as it ascends to heaven. Only problem was I was so busy focussing on St P I couldn't appreciate them as much as I'd have liked. The upshot of that also was that I was relying on audio queues for how well I was doing - the fact you managed to get audio in at all with so much art to create is commendable but a couple of different sounds to distinguish 'success' and 'failure' would have helped... Great stuff

Provider Bob by Cryunreal 2014-08-30T16:01:00

Totally hilarious, I LOVE the 'enforced connection' theme. The artwork and sound is brilliant, it wasn't what I'd call a "deep" experience, but my belly laughs certainly were!

Don't Eat Cute by gnerkus 2014-08-30T14:37:00

Hilarious game! Haha! I loved the sound and music, really set a superb tone for the game. I loved how the tinkly piano was then corrupted by the dark charing sound when the rabbit's rabbit ghost came for revenge. "tasty!". Took me a couple of goes to work out which was me ;)

Gravitous by MaesK 2014-08-27T19:58:00

Really fun experience, thoroughly enjoyable blast. Particularly satisfying setting up orbits to exactly collect the power ups. Liked the balance between aiming and thrusting and how you couldn't do both in the directions you want to simultaneously. Definitely nailed the theme and the music was great, enjoyed it

The Futurist by TinyMoonStudios 2014-08-26T19:11:00

Really like the concept and implementation of time travel, that's really interesting idea! The artwork is really clear and the environments evocative. Sounds would have been great. Darn hard though ;)

The Tree by Calciumtrice 2014-09-14T18:36:00

Unique gameplay and a heck of a lot to cram in 48h, I enjoyed this engrossing little title. I thought the artwork was excellent, particularly the fire boss who was properly nasty. I would have loved sound - your other effects e.g. screen shake were spot on but some simple sounds would have added loads

I Think I Broke Something by Otrora Games 2014-08-30T15:57:00

Incredible artwork backed up by a solid gameplay experience! A bit confusing, would have liked some more help up front but I picked it up eventually. Some music would have been a nice addition here as would some gibs or whatever when you unleash furry with your various characters. Seriously though, polish drips from this

Sleep by Snoother 2014-08-30T15:35:00

Wow that was seriously unsettling stuff, the 'sharp scratch' and you are down the rabbit hole. Absolutely no idea where all those twists and tenty turns were heading, but it was really nicely written and compelling in a 'just how much more strange can this get' way. It actually reminded me a lot of David Lynch material like Mulholland Drive. That one still gives me nightmares, so, er, thanks for that

Salvation by 43iscoding 2014-08-30T14:32:00

This is a great fun entry! I love the effects and the way you have to route people around depending on the different constraints is a great idea. I've read a lot of Peter F Hamilton (void trilogy, for example) so this setting has a huge resonance with me! Thanks for sharing, hope the galaxy makes it...

Nigel - Hero of the universe by ruerob 2014-08-27T20:36:00

I really enjoyed the mood of this one, gorgeous visuals and solid construction. The hud and maths aspect was refreshing, not at all what I was expecting - the connected worlds are 'games' and 'maths tuition'? ;) When my daughter is old enough this is the kind of game I'll be introducing her too :D

Dark World: The Quickening by dydx 2014-08-26T20:09:00

Really enjoyed the feel of this cute game! Lovely clear sprites and gorgeous animation. Satisfying puzzling too, got me scratching my head! Some simple music and sfx would be really great but it's a contemplative experience that is enjoyable nonetheless

Super Alien Bro by nerd burglars 2014-08-30T15:54:00

Absolutely hilarious thank you so much! Definitely one of my faves so far, I nearly squirted water out my nose when I chewed that candy on level 2, you have a wicked streak that is tempered by an aesthetic sense that is also very strong ;) 5/5

Rest In Peace by kenrickrilee 2014-08-26T20:03:00

Really enjoyed this, love the dimension switching, really nicely implemented and a satisfying mechanic. The artwork was very good, great colours and clear sprites and effects. Great game!

Starcular by LuisDC 2014-08-30T15:43:00

Really enjoyed this! I love the tension between watching the world indicator and planning your next moves. The quirky soundtrack is bang on and the sound effects tie in nicely. Very challenging. I'd perhaps have liked the player to move a bit quicker but hey, that's splitting hairs. Presentation superb

Bumper Planets by Altourus 2014-08-27T20:39:00

Cool idea! I dig the planetary defines aspect and trying to work out which that genocidal missile is heading for was challenging, really like the way the tension builds as it homes in. Struggled to click em on a trackpad though ;)

Precipice by Canyon 2014-08-30T14:27:00

Intense and frantic, superb artwork and a nice feel to it. I liked the simple yet satisfying control system, it had that 'just one more go' effect on me. Those mages looked seriously evil and the puny villagers were cute as they ran to the portal for sanctuary - hope life's better for them on the other side!

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-27T06:29:00

Thank you for the awesome comments! I'm humbled that people are enjoying this ridiculous game :) yep I agree the hit box is a bit big which makes the pit jumping a bit too hard. I'm thrilled some people have finished the game

@Maesk haha! Nice statue ;) the backed is FatFractal - very easy to use and no server side code needed at all, plus it is free, I recommend! Will give some more details when I get a chance

@Thingo- thanks for pointing that out, I think it's a different-browsers-do-things-differently problem. Could I ask which browser you are on?

Thanks all, I got some rating to catch up on now ;)

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-27T11:46:00

@sealfin thank you so very much :) 18 points?! Amazing job!

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-29T11:03:00

Your comments are amazing, the game would be nothing without your death messages so thank you all!!

Sorry for the loading times, it's about 1MB per run I think. I'm so tempted to fix the hit box but don't have time for a post compo yet ;)

I will certainly share the relevant source code and do a postmortem, thanks for asking Nepoxx and MaesK :)

Thanks for the robustness test Steve, had thought of that trick thankfully ;)

And to the shameless own-game-pluggers in there- that's possibly the greatest compliment, cheers!

I will absolutely play as many of your games as I can cram in :D

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-29T12:42:00

Thanks for the super comments!

I'm v disappointed to report the game is being badly trolled. I'm doing what I can which is essentially some basic filtering. You will probably see some offensive material. If it goes on I'll have to do something drastic which would give me the sad face :(

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-29T12:55:00

I've taken the difficult decision to take the game offline. If anyone has suggestions how to help please let me know. Otherwise I'm scratching my head for now.

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-29T16:09:00

IT'S BACK UP! With comments disabled - you (and our troll friend) can still add messages, but they won't be displayed until I get moderation implemented... Thanks for all the support I've received it is AMAZING =D

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-29T18:59:00

Hey Stephen thank you! Great feedback, Firefox is the one I've not tried...

Thanks re the trolling- all too easy a target! Have a cunning plan so will see how it goes ;) looking fwd to trying yours :D

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-08-30T14:24:00

@pansapiens, @someone - thanks for the bug reports! Have tested the game on chrome, IE and Safari and found no problems but it does seem that Firefox has some issues - sorry! Post compo should sort that out if I get time ;)

@BrainSlugs83 - thanks for the honest feedback! Yep, it doesn't compare to Spelunky but then apart from the setting it's not supposed to be in any way related. I did consider procedural generation but that would be too hard to set up all the traps and I wanted everyone in the same space so the replays would work. The idea was jumping is a flying kick hence how you attack the bats - my art skills let me down there ;)

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-01T06:22:00

@sealfin Thanks for the v useful feedback! You are truly raiding this tomb ;) (sorry, that was bad). The character limit is 40 chars. Sadly the box is too basic to have a countdown a la twitter. Re the database- noted! Bit of a dilemma though- until I get moderation set up there would be no ghosts in the new DB which could be a bit lonely... I'm working on it! Cheers again

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-01T06:24:00

@sealfin p.s. But rather he'd what?!!! The suspense is killing me ;)

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-10T07:13:00

Thanks for the incredible comments, you guys and gals make it what it is so it's all down to you!

Sorry it doesn't run on Firefox and sorry for the 144Hz issue - that's one for the PhaserJS devs I'm afraid!

Re the source- it's all there as un-minified Javascript so you can simply open your browser's dev console and view it I think- probably only on the 72h version though

There's a bit more technical info in the postmortem I just added

Thanks again :)

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-15T12:35:00

@egor-idiot Oops sounds like you stumbled across my secret "spectator mode" ;) could you try the post-compo gamejolt version instead?! Thx

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-15T19:13:00

@sephyka thank you so much for that comment it made my day

@Jupi Love your vids, sadly Trappy Tomb wasn't running at 60fps for you, sorry about that ;) thrilled to be included anyway!

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-16T05:59:00

14th place overall? THANK YOU AMAZING LD FRIENDS!!!

Scribble Death by chrupp 2014-08-26T20:13:00

Love the graphics, really interesting concept that took some thinking about. I liked the way the sections built on each other though I did find it a little confusing. Oddly emotional!

Mansion on the Hill by BuffaloPhil 2014-09-14T19:43:00

Y.E.S!!! This was superb! Easily the best story I've encountered this LD, totally gripping until the bitter end was hammered out ;) Shades of HG Wells the Time Machine, Logan's Run, ... classic sci fi beautifully presented and very poignant. Great work 5/5

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Much Adoge about Chocolate by Arpeggiatura 2014-12-14T20:35:00

We chatted in a twitch stream for someone else's game, thanks for saying hello :) this looks like a lot of fun but sadly being ipad bound at the moment I'm lacking the requisite arrow keys ;)

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Adventure Lamp by ryguydavis 2015-04-26T19:57:00

Really enjoyed this Ryan! Great work! Absolutely love the animation of the main character, with a few simple sounds it adds loads of character, also helped by the setup at the start. Really clean lines and coherent visuals throughout. The controls were really nicely tuned and it was fun master the hat lob etc, you could certainly take this further in a full game and extend I think. The physics of the moving environments etc were also very solid and quite vertiginous when you fall to your doom ;) I liked the variety you got in there in terms of the game objects though it would have been nice to have had a bit more context for the baddies I was blatting. Given the setting of underground etc I think you could make use of the hat-light to add some puzzle elements perhaps, to complement the skill game. Also, some music would help add atmosphere I think. Great work! - J

LD33 — You are the Monster

Sir Pantless by sgehlich 2015-09-07T12:22:00

The story alone was worth the asking price (I'm not being ironic because it was free btw), this was hilarious! No pants worn during the making? You have a devious streak there. The actual gameplay was challenging - the, er, farts were very difficult to see for me and I kept dying right when I thought I had sir pantless in my grasp. You clearly took great inspiration for the theme and created anti-paceman, not seen this before so nice work! This game is not pants.

Intergalactic Love Machine by Slothmachine 2015-09-08T19:51:00

Without a doubt the most hilarious game I've encountered so far. The dialogue trees are pure monkey island (or should that be leisure suit larry??) - it's what mass effect would be if we happened upon Shepard in some downtime between saving the galaxy. 5 stars

Corruption-5 by hexagore 2015-09-07T12:11:00

Sublime artwork really draws you into this experience, you got so much done in the time! I love the shader effects and the character animation. No audio for me? (Safari). The controls seems to stick a bit which was off putting but the effects were all really nice and it loaded very quickly - a great experience I could see being taken further, thanks!

Mr. Yeti's Fast Food by Balzaque 2015-09-08T19:44:00

Love the fluid gameplay, the clarity of the artwork is superb (except some assets seem not to render correctly on Safari?), just a really superbly polished package, nice work! The footsteps effect and particles add a huge amount - "juice it or lose it"!

TrippyL by Lovro Kalinovčić 2015-09-06T19:38:00

Enjoyed this! Really smooth gameplay and easy learning curve. LOVED the alien speak scene setting, that was a really nice touch. The lighting really helped though I'd have liked to know where the game was set (spaceship? on earth somewhere?) Nice work

Not Cookiemonster by OadT 2015-09-07T12:18:00

This made me smile, I LOVE the rotating goggly eyeballs the best, and the story is very funny. I like the hiding in cupboards mechanic but the cookie dodging felt like it could have been a bit more juicy - maybe some particle effects would liven it up? Really nice artwork, and a nice difficulty progression. I also love the loading mallard.

Birdy Bridge by LastLeaf 2015-09-08T19:05:00

This put me in a really nice contemplative mood, I love the story elements and the relaxing music. It's really stress free and satisfying and doesn't punish you or tax you too hard. Very nicely done

MiniGolf Endless MMO by jimmypaulin 2015-09-07T03:10:00

@nic thanks so much! I am way behind on playing and rating, the App Review process took half the judging period haha! Amazing comments cheers!

MiniGolf Endless MMO by jimmypaulin 2015-09-08T04:12:00

Wow thank you all for the fantastic comments! To answer a couple of specific points:

@Mach60KAS @spotco re direct to iPhone - yes I knew this would limit the LD audience which is a shame. In all previous LD I've done Web then ported to iOS so this time I thought I'd cut out the intermediate step! I also relished the challenge of seeing if I could get something past Apple approval process in a single weekend :D

@Flaid @spotco The game has server side components to rent so I have to monetise somehow- I hate ads too so I'm sorry but many people host their LD games on newgrpunds or gamejolt or kongregate so I've often encountered ads in LD?!

@Flaid @radmars @PokeyOne heh yes there are a couple of technical issues for sure, thanks for pointing those out. Doing my own custom physics engine is the cause of the "sticks to trees" bug gah! I removed the lower blur for the next version which I have submitted for review and will release as soon as LD judging period ends :D I'm not planning to release all the code but if there's a particular aspect you're interested in I'd happily give more details / snippets?

MiniGolf Endless MMO by jimmypaulin 2015-09-08T10:11:00

@radmars I shortened this by 20% for the next update, to be released after judging ends ;) Also removed some blur and various other tweaks :D

MiniGolf Endless MMO by jimmypaulin 2015-09-11T21:11:00

Hey all! Thanks again for the fantastic comments. Had to share this - the game just got reviewed on TouchArcade :D http://toucharcade.com/2015/09/11/minigolf-endless-mmo-review/

We Missed You! by RHY3756547 2015-09-07T12:08:00

Genuinely superb entry, I love the original-era GTA throwback / micro machines gameplay. The handling felt really micro machines actually. I'd have liked a higher framerate - I guess this is a limitation of the emulator system you are using rather than a coding matter? The art was superb, the dithered shadows particularly fetching. No audio at all for me (Safari)? That was a shame. Great entry!

bloody tentacles by zuurr 2015-09-07T12:15:00

"Yeehaa I am a badass flying eyeball jellyfish of DOOOOOOM fear me flying drone wannabes for I shall smite thee into oblivion." I can see the box art now, circa 1993. I would have gone mad for this back then. Would love to see more environment art, but that pumping soundtrack makes it so immersive. The tentacles are superb

Monster Mind by Pitƶik4 2015-09-07T12:30:00

Really clever idea, I liked the hulking monsters very much - however seriously, IS IT FUR, OR SLIME?!!! I NEED TO KNOW! It's like a slimy slug up those walls, but like a big furry dog when sloping along ... hahahaha this really made me laugh and it was very satisfying to take over and execute. The minimalist soundscape reminded me of a heartbeat which actually upped the tension considerably. More please!
