The last level had me cursing but I finally beat it :D
Really fun game!
I loved it, amazing work
That was unbelievable. Loved it!
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
We made the last 2 levels in hurry and didn't give ourselves enough time to improve the frustrating parts. -- We'll definitely spend more time in that area during the next Ludum Dare.
I never knew I wanted to be a noodle before, until now
Great game and the messages are hilarious.
Woohoo I beat it!
That was great, I really enjoyed it.
Awesome job! I beat the whole game, it's so much fun.
Fun and challenging. The levels are well designed but I wish there were more of them!
I can't say I loved the gameplay, but that ending was incredible. Props for that. Nice use of the theme too!
I have a lot of trouble hitting Z+X at the same time. Besides that, this game is perfect! Very impressive.
Honking the horn kind of made me feel sick... which seems to have been the intention. Very well done.
This game is so much fun! It's really satisfying to freeze time and line up my shots so I can hit multiple targets at once.
Fun game! I love the spell counter mechanic. Nice characters too.
Pretty fun platformer. Wish there was some kind of checkpoint system.
Sweet graphics, cool music, fun gameplay! This game rocks!
Nice atmosphere. Very charming.
It took a couple playthroughs for me to appreciate all the details that went into this game. Nice work!
One of the most entertaining games I've played so far. Well done!
Good concept and the item descriptions are great.
AWESOME music and feel. I live in a walk-up too :(
This game is so cool. I'm really impressed you were able to make all of this work.
I want to plant more seeds but I can't bring myself to kill any plants to make space. Even if they are ugly and untie your shoelaces.
Clever idea and the skip-it controls well.
Nice effects and environments. I wish the special zombies started showing up earlier in the game.
Neat game. I'm a fan of the live action cutscenes. I got stuck at the ijkl part though, I had some trouble figuring out how to effectlvely use the 2nd lens.
Very entertaining :)
Really cool game! Just wish there were more puzzles.
Funny voices and cool music.
Really nice characters & animation. I like the upgrade options, but I wish the XP progression was faster.
Pretty gross. Nice job! Great graphics.
Great story, atmosphere, and puzzles. The ending was really cool. Nice job.
I laughed pretty hard after the final boss battle with Dr. Useless. Great humor in this game.
Pro tip for everyone: defeat Speedy Person first!
Nice job, I like all the inventory items & spell effects. Hope you keep working on the game!
Really clever game. I'm on a phone right now so I appreciate the touch controls too. But I can't seem to be able to move on level 4
Nice characters and gameplay.
Super cute, fun, and the polish is very impressive. Awesome job.
Nice memes! The gameplay is actually pretty interesting. Fun, but can be very difficult.
I was pretty confused for a bit on the first level, but the game played smoothly after I figured out the mechanics. Nice art and level design!
I actually laughed pretty hard. Thanks for reminding me how immature I am.
Hey do you have permission to use that music?
I never thought I'd see a videogame based on weed jesus. Hilarious!
Funny! I enjoyed it.
Amazing graphics, environments, controls, gameplay, humor, everything! How do you do something like this in 72 hours...?
This is great! I've never seen a pinball game in LD before.
The lighting was a bit too dark... but it made the explosions pretty satisfying. Great job!
The animations are sooo good. Would've loved to see more gameplay in there but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Fun graphics and music! I didn't have a friend to play against, but it seems like it would be a good time. I remember playing a game like this with checkers pieces when I was younger.
This looks fun, any chance of a web or mac build?
This game is awesome. The concept is really funny and original. I love the newspaper clippings / website articles!
This is pretty great. The humor and weirdness is right up my alley. Couple suggestions though:
1. Is it possible to put a mouse cursor lock on the web version? It makes it really difficult to click on stuff..
2. I'd make the first watermelon-squishing section a lot shorter, I spent a long time in there (mostly because of issue #1) so I thought that was going to be the entire game... but I'm glad I didn't stop there!
Really nice visual style and FX. The puzzles were really difficult for me, but it was satisfying when I finally beat the game.
P.S. the hud text has very low opacity on the web build... not sure if it's better on the windows build. I wasn't really able to read those notes at the bottom.
Just awesome. I got stuck in Purgatory, but I appreciate the difficulty curve :)
This is great! Cute, clean graphics and fun puzzles. I loved the final level :)
It controlled really nicely and eating the enemies was fun. Only thing is I would have liked to have a penalty for hitting the ground -- the game was slightly too easy for me.
I love the audio responses. "Disgusting! Gross!"
I thought it was way too simple at the start, but the gameplay got really interesting and fun at the end.
And then I took a look at the source code... wow. You programmed everything from scratch using straight SDL and a single main.cpp file. So sick!
Thanks for the feedback! The item animation has been fixed.
We did record sound fx and vocals! Unfortunately I ran out of time and wasn't able to put them in the game in time. They will be in the post-jam version, coming soon!
@Loutrattitude thanks for the heads up, we just added ZQSD and arrow key support. Although there aren't mobs in this game...
@danidre14 Thanks! Did you try any of the other graphics settings?
The mechanics could use some more work, but I really like the mood and character design.
Looks really impressive. Any chance of a mac or web build?
Great moment when the big guy comes around at level 4. Somehow I missed him in the screenshot above, so it was huge shock for me. Really fun, though I have no idea how I can get past that guy...
Really great concept, I love seeing innovative mechanics like this.
If I had to give criticism, I would have preferred an input scheme with a free mouse cursor, rather than the mouse being tied to the ghost.
Not sure if my keyboard inputs affected anything but I felt like a monster nonetheless. A+
This looks really interesting. Any chance you could provide a Mac port?
Hey thanks for putting a mac build up for me.. but it doesn't work :( It says:
The application "Nightcrawler.app" can't be opened.
That was great! Really enjoyed the complexity of the knights' names in the later waves.
Hey, fellow UE4 developer! I'd be willing to build a mac version for you. Email me at christopherjkim@gmail.com
A great concept, executed nicely. Really cute art and sound.
I'd only suggest adding some way to turn down the graphics quality... it seems the gpu requirements are too high for many people.
I think that would be allowed under the "porting" rules, so you don't have to wait til the post-compo version.
Echoing a previous comment: "Feels surprisingly deep for what I thought would just be a comedy effort."
This is a fantastic entry. I love the concept, the ship descriptions, and the hilarious monster reminds me of Mr. Game & Watch's final smash in Super Smash Bros. Really great job.
This was really difficult at first but I played through a couple times and got the hang of it. Interesting ending!
The movement is so creative and executed perfectly. And the character/context is hilarious. Love it!
Agreed with the other commenters, you can tell there is a lot of ambition and potential here. I really like the concept of the game.
Nice concept, really cute character. Very cool to see a game made with three.js and coffeescript :)
Fun game! Like another commenter said, the super high jump is weird at first but it works. The hunger/morality mechanic is cool too.
I just love the animations... like how the dinosaur's eye smears during the bite animation. Reminds me of classic cartoons.
Excellent job and congrats on your first LD!
Really liked the character artwork and concept! Finding the right monster felt very very tricky though.
I got 55! The gameplay is super simple but I enjoyed the frenetic pace of it near the end.
I laughed out loud at the vocals -- "Amazing as heck!"
Like others have said, the movement is pretty difficult, but I liked the style and the idea.
Nice job on your first LD. My high score is 93 :)
Nice concept and level design. The WASD/mouse movement was a little off-putting at first but I got used to it.
p.s. I uploaded a win32 build of my game!
I like your take on the theme. Very funny, nicely done.
Hey, I came here to let you know I added ZQSD support to my game.
Also, the Mac build of your game doesn't seem to work :(
Lemme know if you get it working!
I'm not too familiar with Python but I'm trying to get this to work. Any idea how to fix this issue:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./monster.py", line 329, in <module>
webgame.Game(main, cmd = {'quit': webgame.quit})
File "/Users/chris/Downloads/monster/webgame.py", line 369, in Game
server = websockets.RPChttpd(config['port'], Connection, tls = config['tls'], httpdirs = fhs.read_data('html', opened = False, multiple = True, dir = True))
AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'RPChttpd'
I'm on mac and I'm using Python 3.4.3.
I had a lot of trouble manipulating the items, I couldn't beat it :/ Also, the text is pretty hard to see against the background
I got to level 22! Fun and cute little game.
Pretty fun, I figured out that switching between weapons for different size enemies made it a lot more interesting :)
What an awesome game. It has a really cool game mechanic + the right kind of puzzles that explore everything you can do with it.
@Sundr0 I just put up the win/linux builds!
@oddityoverseer Thanks for the feedback, I changed the narration to say "click" instead of "press", and I made the wheel a little slower.
Super cool game, I loved the messages on the walls. But I think I accidentally got stuck outside the level somehow:

@TimTipGames, try talking to the old man to see what he has to say.
@RobotSoulsGames It's our 6th game, but the first we've done in this genre and this engine. See http://ludumdare.com/compo/author/dydx/ for our previous entries. Screenshots and description are coming soon!
