The concept is pretty simple with this game. I like how you have to show yourself but at the same time, not show yourself. I have come across some issues where it seems like I am showing my self but I just feel more lonely. Otherwise, its a pretty decent game.

I love the concept, the art and the mood the music produces. Excellent work!

I love the idea :) I have been sighted at least three times but I die from loneliness anyway :) I also cannot move when I surfaced. Am I doing something wrong?

great idea!
@q2k2k The spotters may need some time to notice nessie, especially if they aren't that interested in her from the beginning. That may also be why loneliness didn't change much. Some spotters simply don't give that cozy warm feeling of being appreciated.
@mboaj Nessie really yearns for attention, she needs a whole lot of it to survive her loneliness. And you are right, when posing at the surface, she is much to busy trying to get seen but not seen too much, that swimming is not an option.
Concept is really nice. Graphics are simple, but effective. However, being seen doesn't reduce loneliness nearly enough to make the game balanced.

I love the idea behind this! Great job!!
This is a really joyous game to play. All of the conspiracy popups are great. Perhaps Agent Mulder can make a cameo(#iwanttobelieve) ;) I was able to get "beached" by swimming outside of the water in some places. It was no big deal I just restarted. Very entertaining!
@aberdeenphoenix I totally agree. We simply had to scrap play-testing and balancing the game since we only got to that part about 1h before submission. And then we were much too tired.
@internetpaulicy I though I had put a tight net of colliders around the lake! must have been a spot between two of them or something.
looks like a few of us had a similar idea but it's interesting to see how vastly different they all play. I found this a little unintuitive at first and then quite difficult, but interesting. it's a little melancholic but I don't mind that, and I also enjoyed the conspiracy stuff and x-files reference. good effort!
death by science. lol. I like the game in that all of these pop-ups occur, but it's way too easy to die from loneliness, and I'm unsure as to how I die by science. Also I'm not sure how to decrease my loneliness, but it seems the more I move around the more popups occur rather than just basking 24/7.
How do I lower my "renown" ? it's a bit weird. It's like you are going to lose and die no matter what.
@Infininete science comes and gets you when you reach max renown. We didn't really have time to do an in-game capture event. Each time a pop-up occurs, you have been seen, and thus you feel a bit less lonely. As to the other question, we can neither confirm, nor deny the existence of such game mechanics.
The idea is good but the tutorial is a bit confusing and flashed bye too fast for me. The art was well done for it's style. I also wish you had more time to look at the sighting bits, I felt like I might have been missing jokes. Maybe pause the game when you are spotted then have a continue button I see you didn't allow ratings on audio so I presume it wasn't something you made but nonetheless it was well chosen and fitted in to the mood of the game wonderfully.
Overall a good job. Keep on jamming.

Really enjoyed this, the music set a really nice mood and the mechanics were actually very complementary and worked well. Would have been nice to have some idea of when a sighter was able to be sighted again.
I really like this idea. It took a bit to get what had to do.
I can't tell if I liked the music or not.

Wow there are like 8 Loch Ness monster games!
Really nice idea, a bit like being a celebrity maybe, always wanting some attention but not too much.
I died by loneliness and science lol, I will play again to see if there are more alternatives.
Nice sound FX, controls nice and simple, graphics could have been a little better but did the job. Not a huge fan of bag pipes.
Good entry well done.
A fun idea. I was quite sad when I died from loneliness.
The lonely factor just increased and ended the game even when seen. good concept, and ok art / music
We can never have enough Nessie games! ;)
It seems like your Nessie doesn't have a chance in today's world...
Another interesting take on the theme.
Interesting mechanic! But I fear it didn't quite have the tutorial it needed. It's a nice balance: loneliness vs being spotted. But I always just died of loneliness...

:D Its a very lovely story about Nessie! I really love the theme and the music.
Sadly I always died very early, but I still think its a very nice idea and game.

I liked the concept and the atmosphere a lot. The gameplay and the controls worked well overall for me (even if the lowered speed when not fully submerged felt unnecessary for me). The problem for me was (like others have mentioned) the lonelyness-balancing - I didn't manage to keep going for more than 3-4 sighting despite several tries, even after I felt I mastered the controls.
On the other hand, this was one of the games with most 'feeling' in it I have tried during this Ludum Dare, it felt like a game with a lot of thought behind. Would gladly play it again after some balancing :)

Very nice project guys, i really love it, please check our game too and if you liked it give us a vote. Look for Road to hell and enjoy.
Poor monster. Great game! I included it in part 12 of my Ludum Dare 33 Compilation video series, if you would like to take a look :) https://youtu.be/mbmK1PaRvAU
A second Nessie game I've seen in this compo, and this one is much easier. I liked all the headlines and photos and stuff, but I can't discover how to play for long or win :)

A simple and great idea. Well done.
The use of the theme is clever. Like that you play as Nessie and have to feed the myth by curing your loneliness. The blurry photos were also a really nice touch. Did find that my loneliness was hard to beat, might need a bit more easing into the difficulty. The menu display of jumbled notes was also a nice touch.
The idea is pretty funny. Poor monster, looks like it's hard to avoid death :P
The game is well executed in different aspects, also the music is cool and gives a good atmosphere. Nicely done :D
The articles and photos (sighting feedback) was fun. It helped me feel more like the monster. I can see if that part is missing that the game will feel empty.
The start is a bit rough since you need to act quickly or die alone (maybe too fast?). However after replaying it and moving quickly, it's very easy to not die alone and instead die from science. So as long as act fast...
Maybe there could be more warning when you are about to reach max loneliness. There is an opportunity here, like - when it increases the monster could say funny things or the bar could gain some attention and give it some urgency with sfx, particles.. standard jazz.
Great job coming up with a new type of gameplay matching the theme, and having it reasonably interesting to explore the mechanics (plus I dig the art, especially basking in the sun! :).
The attention to detail on the player motion is also good. You can backup but only slowly, conversely your velocity increases a bit more. I think when you reach max depth?.. whatever it was it felt right! 5 paragraph essay sighting confirmed. died by comment police brutality.

Don't know if there's a way to reduce the sighting level over time but I like the concept a lot plus the bagpipe music actually fits the game well.

This game is awesome. The concept is really funny and original. I love the newspaper clippings / website articles!
