Mutants Must Die by noonat 2015-04-22T17:17:00
I enjoyed it, even if it currently feels more like a promising engine than a game. You could make a really nice game on that, I hope you'll continue to develop it :) And btw, nice graphics!

I enjoyed it, even if it currently feels more like a promising engine than a game. You could make a really nice game on that, I hope you'll continue to develop it :) And btw, nice graphics!
Felt more like an engine than a complete game, but I found it enjoyable :) Would be interesting to see what happens with this if you put further work into it!
I liked this a lot, great fun :) Some more feedback on ducks damaging golems (and bullets?) would have felt good, otherwise - no complains. Seems to have a lot of potential for future development, I hope you'll keep it up :)
Interesting mechanics! It became quite intense after a while. I had some trouble in hitting the zombies in the unconventional mode, dodging them felt like the better alternative.
This was very nice! One of my favorites. Ran it from start to end. Really enjoy this kind of hack-games. It would have been nice if when the commands was running the current command was highlighted, both to better follow the events, and to ease the 'debugging'. To sum it up, well done, it would be nice to see more like this.
Very nice! Definitely one of my favourites this far. The graphics, sound and gameplay went together very well, and the mechanics felt polished.
I really liked the humour in this game. I smiled the whole way through it. The visuals might be the weaker part of the game, but they still made their job well. Nice job, I liked this!
Fun and lighthearted in a sinister way. I really liked it :) I like sorloks idea to be able to block the bullets using your newly found friends!
Nice little game, well done :) As you said in the description, it was a quite heavy game for my computer. Didn't look like it needed to be very computationally intense, might be worthwhile to run a profiler, to localize what part of the code that is running heavily. Nevertheless, well done, and good luck with its further development :)
Interesting concept, didn't find it so challenging to pick the right shapes to write, but was a nice typing challenge nevertheless :)
Nice, interesting idea and interesting game mechanics. I enjoyed it the whole way through. Would happily have played more levels!
I got him! Congratulations on making your first HTML5-game :)
Seems promising, doesn't run on my computer though.. (Using a Windows 7 computer, when clicking the .exe it loads for a second, and then nothing more happens)
Nice, you really got the ambience with the visuals and the music!
I liked this, simple and addictive! Took me two runs to figure out what was going on, but after that it was great fun :) Seems very well suited as a phone game!
Was't able to enjoy it fully as a single player, will try to find a friend to play it with.. I liked the visuals and music, and the mechanics flowed on nicely. Well done :)
I enjoyed this a lot, thanks for sharing your experiences :)
This was awesome. Really hard. Feel a bit ashamed to admit that I failed to calculate the 2 - 1 in time..
My weapon sometimes shot 90 degrees of from where I aimed.. Otherwise, fun game! Well done :)
It was fun! A bit frustrating to land them after grabbing them, especially when exploding on collision with other unicorns. It would have been nice with some kind of difficulty ramp-up to get the hang of it, so that the first unicorn was easier to handle than later (but maybe pay less?). Anyway, I liked it a lot. Nice job :)
Very strange and interesting game. I didn't manage to find Manno, sorry. The sound and visuals became a bit overwhelming after a while. As I did the mistake of running it in windowed mode, I also had some trouble navigating, as the mouse ended up outside the window all the time. Might pick it up again later though. I want to find that Manno..
Very enjoyable to play, and music and graphics blend together well. I missed having some kind of squashing sound-effect when killing of the blue squares. Impressive to finish this in one evening!
Nice game with nice atmosphere! Was a bit annoyed that I always got the wrong particles.
It looks and sounds great, and has an enjoyable gameplay! I had issues with the movement, which made it hard to enjoy it full. Would definitely give it a replay with smoother movement!
Nice job with the visual and audiotive feedback on this! Felt good to blast away those squares. Would have been nice with some feedback on how good I was doing during the individual levels, for example "Aim to get under 50 clicks on this one...".
Very nice! Really enjoy this kind of game (also made a typing game..) Interesting and challenging mechanic :)
Nice! I got very drawn in into this. It would probably have been a bit more satisfying for if it was a bit easier, but played to level four anyway and enjoyed it a lot :)
Well done and nice idea :) Had some hearphone-issues with the door-drilling sound, it was intense for my poor ears.
Nice idea! Would have preferred a bit more responsive movement. Nice trying out a new language for LD, well done :)
Nice! Quite an extensive game you have made. I played through several levels. I had some problems with lag, but otherwise it worked fine. One thought. When you overlap the hostile pencil holders you take a lot of damage very quickly (looks like once per game loop). An alternative would be to take a fix amount of damage, and then have a brief period of invulnerability. Overall, enjoyable game, I hope you do more in the future :)
I liked this a lot! Both the style and the gameplay itself. Also, the feeling of moving in an ongoing battle, it is interesting. Well done!
Nice ending :) I really like the stylistics of the game. The graphics and the music blends together really well. The gameplay was fun, but felt a bit thin compared to the rest. Nevertheless, a pleasing experience to play it. Well done :)
I liked it! A small, polished game. The visuals, music, backstory and gameplay blends together nicely :)
Nice game :) Could maybe make initial instructions briefer? Really enjoyed visuals and music!
I liked it a lot :) Nice idea with the mat, and well executed. Music and graphics were nice tool. I also had trouble with the spacebar-scrolling, which made it hard to play. If you are using Phaser, you can 'capture' buttons from the browser using following line:
game.input.keyboard.addKeyCapture([Phaser.Keyboard.SPACEBAR]);
Will replay later on bigger monitor :)
Nice, it works fine for me now :)
Nice! This flowed really well, addictive gameplay. I like the idea with destroying the furniture. I guess it is always a question of time, but some further furniture-destroy-animations would have felt really rewarding!
Well done :) I like the visuals. I had some problems with shooting effectively, it seemed like half the times I attempted to throw some poop he moved instead.
I really liked the terrain destruction, and the feeling of the controls in this game. Didn't manage to find the flag on level 2.. But maybe hints would make it too easy. Visually pleasing game too. Well done!
Nice concept :) Would have been interesting with more levels!
Nice one! Enjoyable mechanics, and felt like a complete game with all those levels. Found many of the later ones very interesting. Could maybe polish those tiles a bit, but they made their job well :)
Nice game! I would have preferred a bit faster movement for the player and the enemies, and it became very easy after obtaining the first and second bonus shots. But I had a good time, and it would be interesting to see where it could end up in the future if it was to be further developed :)
Nice, omnious feeling, and really nice looking shadows and light effects! The gameplay itself wasn't so challenging, maybe one could introduce for example moving objects that has to be avoided.. But it was enjoyable anyway. Will look at your source code now, to try to figure out how you managed to do the visuals!
Nice game. I enjoyed both the atmosphere and the gameplay. Could maybe have a bit more gentle initial levels? I made it though the first, but gave up on the second after dying repeatedly.
Doesn't start for me, I get an error and it crashes!
I get the error "Shader #0 compilation failed", you can see the full error message in following link:
http://i914.photobucket.com/albums/ac347/Piano42/DecrepitLordIssue.png
I have a very low level graphic card (Intel family chipset) which I sometimes have had issues with. I don't know if that could be a factor here.
This was really nice, probably the most addictive LD-game here for me yet :)
It got a nice feeling! I hope you'll keep on working with the mechanics, would love to play a full game with that atmosphere.
It was intense! Enjoyed it a lot :) Would use a bigger/clearer font, had trouble to read the words at times. Really nice graphics. Well done!
It was actually quite hard, ran into that dragon at least three times. It was nice to play, and to hear that you cooperated with your daughter on this! I would have preferred to have the camera further to the right, to get a bit more overview over items and dragons. To sum it up, well done, both of you, I hope you'll continue to develop games together :)
Nice, I enjoyed the humor :) I enjoyed the game too. It would be nice with increasing difficulty, so that you get an ending condition. Then it is complete, a game doesn't need more :)
I liked the atmosphere of it, both visuals and music, very nice :) Interesting with the background too.
I really enjoyed the mechanics! And the visuals too. Such a gentleman.
Nice, I enjoy this kind of games :) Movement became almost too fast for me after a few batteries. To make it more challenging you could spread out the spawning along more than one wall. I enjoyed it, good job!
I highly enjoyed this one! The game mechanics flows on very nicely. I would happily have played more levels. It feels like you have a lot of tools here to build a more extensive game.
Another thought, the never-ending stream of monsters at the last screen could easily be converted to survival mode :)
Nice with the pen drawn graphics! Wish it was longer :)
Nice! I think the graphics works fine :) I had some trouble with the movement, I ended up gliding around while frantically pressing C without much control.. Might try it again later though. I want to beat that 241-score..
Nice little game! I found the useless weapon quite unsatisfying, and the enemies blended with the background, but otherwise I liked it. Nice with waves and bosses, and the weapon combinations. Good luck with the continued development of it and future games :)
Nice and enjoyable :) Made it to level three!
Really enjoyed this one, you must have had a lot of fun making this one! Controls were a bit awkward, but when I got the hang of them, it was a lot of fun. And the 'eeeeexploossiooon' almost made me look forward to losing :)
Nice! I really enjoyed both cutting down the zombies one and one, and squashing hordes of them beneath the trees. One of the most fun games I have played this far in this Ludum Dare :)
Interesting game! I was surprised by the sudden camera shift, but I enjoyed squashing the yellow balls with my beavers.
Very nice idea, and nice look to it! I wish it was a bit longer.. Would have preferred to play it a little bit more zoomed out, with some more overview. But nice job :)
Windows version doesn't start for me, the download contains an exe-file. When running it, it tells me 'Tim's Bad Day_Data'-folder should be in the same folder as the exe file.
Nice! I enjoyed the random-weapon-throwing a lot. The jumping felt a bit strange, but nevertheless fun game.
Thanks for the feedback and the nice comments! I have got many ideas for possible post-Ludum Dare-improvements from you.
I liked local minimum's idea about storing words, together with some kind of visualization, which could replace the current somewhat diffuse charge-system. I wonder if there is an easier way of moving the character, will think more about that. Could also do a more smooth ending.
Thanks again!
Thanks for all comments! Very appreciated :) I will sit down and summarize all the feedback when LD32 is over, and hopefully put it to good use for future Ludum Dares and other stuff.
I have attempted to play and give some thoughts on each of your games, and will continue to do so. I have enjoyed this a lot :)
I enjoyed this! The smoke effect was nice, and I really got into trying to shoot that alien for a while.. Sound would have been nice, but in 48h you can't have it all. Nice job :)
Nice atmosphere. Felt good to hurl a cactus at the intruder :)
Nice groundwork for a game! I liked the feeling of the moving and jumping. Keep it up :)
Well done, nice work being your first encounter with many of the tools! I enjoyed the flowers dancing animation in particular, so happy :) At the end I waited for a single patch to become a flower for quite a while (after becoming a weed 3-4 times). Otherwise, I found the game enjoyable. Well done, and good luck with your future games!
I think it has a very interesting concept, but that the gameplay currently is quite confusing. I wasn't sure what to do, so I mostly clicked random things. I think the idea has potential though, would be nice to see further work on it :)
Interesting game! It lagged quite a bit on Firefox for me, better on Chrome. Still unsure if the music I heard was meant to be heard that way. Nevertheless, I liked the mood of it :)
Just want to add, I heard a partially distorted version of your music limited to my music. Managed to get it to play properly now. I like it a lot.
I liked this! A small scope, and you made it well. When I shot a long chain of ..bullets? the cows passed right through them all, but otherwise it all worked fine. Well done :)
Nice concept here! I enjoyed being a drunk asteroid :) Would have preferred a bit more responsive movement, otherwise no complaints.
Very nice! Loved the chaos inside the shopping mall :)
Nice idea and presentation! I enjoyed watching the intro cut-sceen one time. But after browser restart I would have enjoyed being able to skip it the second time. Didn't fully grasp the gameplay (I mangled the buttons randomly and seemed to win), but it seems like a very interesting basis to build on. I hope you'll continue develop it, you seem to have something interesting coming up here :)
Really nice mechanics, I enjoyed watching the number of controlled characters increase. I did't feel that the movement (right click) provided me much benefit, especially as my army grew. I agree with someone else in the comments, I would like to see more from you, but maybe with less fetuses (and sad noises!)
Looks great, and nicely executed! Nice humor. Took some rounds for me to get the hang of the crafting, a small hint 'drag the materials on each other', would have nodded me in the right way immediately. Good job!
Nice! I enjoy the visuals and sound a lot. Intense controls, took some time to stop running into dangerous stuff.. Using the scream felt good!
Nice concept! Liked the look of it, and the mechanics. Was quite easy to exploit the nice/neutral/mean system, through picking a single word for each category (for example writing 'a' for green all the time), don't know if it is easy to avoid this in a non game-breaking way though. Well done, would be interesting to see future development of this :)
I found this very entertaining! (Found the game through pvwradtke's link).
I enjoyed it, played it several times (highscore 480). The biggest problem for me was the perma-death of running into the edges. Otherwise, I think it turned out enjoyable. Well done :)
I really enjoyed the music! The text was nice too, I became a bit text-overloaded after a while, but that says more about me than the game. Nice job :)
Nice little game :) The controls felt smooth. A bit unforgiving though, didn't manage to get past level 2 (despite several tries)..
I enjoyed playing this. You got the mood right with the visuals, sound and mechanics. Got the hang of navigating the guards after a while, but ended up confused about where to go when I reached the end of the corridor. Looks like it has a lot of potential, hope you continue developing it :)
Took a while for me to get the hang of which direction that killed which entity. Maybe the learning curve could had been smoothed out through letting the player see the tutorial while playing for a little while? When I got the hang of it, it was great fun. Nice mechanics, nice art and fitting music. You have done a great job :)
Fantastic, brain freezing game. Will likely come back and play this more later!
You got a really nice mood here. Like the visual style, and the ambient sounds. Would have been interesting to play a more extensive version of this!
Nicely executed! Entertaining with polished game mechanics. Also, I liked the alien slowly destroying all the small houses in the background. The laser animation could have been faster though (or having a skip button), as I spent half the playing time waiting for the animation.
After hole 9 it crashed for me with the console message:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'par' of undefined (index.js:432).
Nevertheless, nice job :)
Nice game and idea! The weapon switching could maybe get some more polish, when I had a weapon equipped and went into another one it rapidly switched back and forth, making a lot of high noise. Otherwise, enjoyable game :)
I found the coffee script + Phaser combination interesting, I have been thinking about trying that out myself. Do you think they worked well together?
@AdricZero Thanks for the insight! Will check the tools you mentioned. Might try out the combination for next LD.
Nice little game, I enjoyed it :) It took a while for me to get the cat moving when pressing the arrows, otherwise it worked fine!
Nice game :) I really like the top-down Zelda-like type of games. I had some trouble with the initial difficulty, I was not able to kill many enemies at all. So for me, an 'easy mode' would have been nice!
Nice graphics and enjoyable game mechanics! Very hard!
Looks very nice, fails loading for me... (I can't access the site at all in neither Chrome or Firefox).
This is one of my favorites this far. Will definitely come back and struggle some more with this one later. Good for your brain-health. Well done, and impressive code-work!
Really nice looking, one of the best looking games I've played this far in this Ludum Dare. Nice fun too. I missed that I wasn't able to control the aim more!
It looks amazing! No other users in for me though, so didn't get to try it "for real".
Very nice :) I was impressed by the graphics, how polish the game felt, and how many limbs I had in the end. It became a bit repetitive (and easy) towards the end for me, but I enjoyed it anyway, much due to the humour. Great job!
Very nice mechanics! The manual opening/moving of food led to a more immersive feeling, it felt like I was the one frantically trying to snatch those sausages... A small detail: The food moving mostly went well, but sometimes felt slightly of (in particular for the sausages) which led to I failed to move them several times.
Overall, I am highly impressed of this entry, both sound, movement, visuals... You know what you are doing!
This was interesting! I enjoyed the controls, and after getting the hang of the gameplay, I enjoyed the combination of dodging and shooting required. I died pretty fast anyway (6 red kills max), wouldn't mind if it had been slightly longer :)
Very unique, nice style. Got much more entertaining when I actually read the instructions, and realized that you could shoot stuff. Nice job!
I think you have a nice potential here. I would be nice with some ramping of the difficulty or winning condition, (or if I missed it, faster ramping). I liked the floating-animation of the main character, nice effect with the shadow changing size. Definitely well done for three hours :)
Very nice! I really like this kind of top-down games, and this worked very well. My minor complaint is that after I finished the level, I didn't realize the game was over. Took me a while to figure it out...
I liked the concept and the atmosphere a lot. The gameplay and the controls worked well overall for me (even if the lowered speed when not fully submerged felt unnecessary for me). The problem for me was (like others have mentioned) the lonelyness-balancing - I didn't manage to keep going for more than 3-4 sighting despite several tries, even after I felt I mastered the controls.
On the other hand, this was one of the games with most 'feeling' in it I have tried during this Ludum Dare, it felt like a game with a lot of thought behind. Would gladly play it again after some balancing :)
I in particular like the looks of the main monster! I didn't feel I fully got the hang of the game play, some crunching attacks killed, some didn't... Nevertheless, nice look and feel of it. Well done!
Nice, incredible that you managed to pull of this in such short time span! I played through the first case, a lot of fun. Well done :)
Nice and original! I like the humour. Not so fond of sudden-death-start-over parts in this kind of games... Otherwise, no complaints :)
I liked this, lots of fun! I always enjoy a good typing-game. Looked a bit strange with the enemies exploding before the bullets reached them, but I liked the style overall. Well done!
Very satisfying game mechanics. Not sure how much skill played in? (I played the web version). Nevertheless, I happily and frantically destroyed those ships until the last part of my health bar went out. Thanks for the fun!
Interesting take on the theme :)
Nice and polished game. The controls did overall feel very nice. I felt that more control over the jumping/eating-part could have improved it even further, it felt a bit random when I did or didn't manage to eat someone. Highly satisfying ending. Well done!
Looks beautiful, unable to get past the main menu... (On Windows 10).
Good job! I enjoyed this one :) Was a little bit hard to actually hit the people, other than that, no complaints!
Nice little game. Almost made it to the end... The sudden-death when missing one knight felt quite annoying, it was too fast for me. Liked the graphical style. Nice job, and nice to see ES6 games coming up :)
Nice look and feeling! Feels very polished and has interesting game mechanics. Really felt like I was a raid boss. Became a bit repetitive after a while, would be very interesting to have some kind of power-up secondary weapon. Nevertheless, liked this a lot. Well done :)
Nice look and feel of it (especially liked the 8-direction running animations of the wolf). Didn't feel like a game though. Would be very interesting to play with some kind of enemies/threat!
Really good job! An impressive feat. Nice mood, music, visuals and game play. And nice story with a maybe not so surprising twist :)
Nice! I always look out for the typing games, this is one of my favorites this time around. I like how the ones with the more fancy names became a natural part of the difficulty curve. One thing I found somewhat annoying towards the end was when persons will really long names came from the left of the screen. Impossible to see them before they almost reached the princess. Cleaver of them!
Nice atmosphere, I enjoyed it. I gave up when I had to start over after picking the wrong letter. Would have been nice with further indication about what the letters stood for!
Nice, liked it a lot! Didn't understand the eating the first way around, but when I got the hang of that and the stone-throwing it really took of. A satisfying game.
Haha, what, I was not sure what was going on in the end. Liked it a lot though. Might be nice with some more info on what is happening during the combat :) (Who am I? Who do I want to kill? Did I win or lose when I killed my ex?)
Well done. My life feels a little bit richer after having played this.
Nice game play, very nice aesthetics! I was hoping for games like this to pop up this Ludum Dare :)
I liked this a lot, kept me playing for quite a while. A small suggestion is to mark visually in some way what items you own.
Nice little game! I liked the mighty feeling of moving the tentacles, destroying the oncoming swarm of small UFOs :)
Nice! Played it with a smile the whole way :)
Very nice artwork! Nice controls and level design. Maybe a bit too easy?
Very nice looking, and a nice mechanic! I would have preferred if the difficulty ramped up much faster (a 1-2 minutes long game which you can play several times). Now, it felt very slow. Nevertheless, you have everything here, I would just tweak the difficulty a bit!
This was interesting! One thing which could be improved is the flow between moving and buying/upgrading. It became a quite significant step to open the shop window and navigate with the mouse. Otherwise, I enjoyed it a lot, nice job :)
Looked very nice! Was quite confused, had a hard time trying to figure out the controls... A shame, as the game seems very interesting!
Interesting entry, would be interesting to see it further developed!
Nice little game :) Especially liked the graphics. Was a little bit too hard for me, would be nice with some more control over the movement (although, that maybe was kind of the point of the game, to not have it). Nice job!
Nice game! Especially liked the dinosaur sprite. Was a little bit annoying sometimes when they got stuck close to a wall. Nice that you managed to create so much content in so short time :)
I liked this a lot, fun idea and well executed too. I like how the other zombies runs away when you start preparing the sneeze... Became a bit easy after I got the hang of it (standing in the right puddle, sneezing of all that came close). Would be nice with a win condition. Nevertheless, one of my favorites this far :)
I liked this a lot, very nice first game! I enjoyed the gameplay and I enjoyed the music. It was a little bit cumbersome to get them where I wanted them to go, but I got the hang of it after a while :)
You got nice atmosphere and visuals here, I enjoyed playing it!
One of the most entertaining ones :) Played it for a while with my little brother, tons of fun.
This might be the nicest looking game I've seen this far in this Ludum Dare! Nice atmosphere, and enjoyable game/controls. The difficulty curve didn't work out so well for me though, it was mostly quite easy to jump along, and then suddenly a two-bush-combo appeared on both sides with a tiny distance between which always killed me (I realised now that you mentioned that in the text). I think you have almost all in place here. Some polish on the difficulty curve, and it is ready to market!
I don't know if I should put 1 or 5 on humor! Very nice entry. A bit texty, but I think you managed to hold the game play together, while delivering a brilliant atmosphere.
Nice to make a game with your family :) I liked it, the controls of running the snake felt very suitable for running a big snake. Was a bit unsure about what the purpose of the game was while playing, I thought I was battling the bird. Could be interesting with some clear threat.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed it. Good job to all of you :)
It looked good, and had a nice feeling of it. Quite easy in the beginning, didn't feel so much threatened. Could perhaps accelerate in difficulty faster? I am impressed by how well the graphics and music came together to put the mood.
I think the concept and your engine has potential, would be interesting to see this fully fleshed out into a game. Did't manage to do much game-wise with it though. I missed alĺ the balls...
I liked the take on the theme. One of the few games that actually used the two-button controls in the setting itself. I found the game itself interesting, maybe a bit slow. I stopped playing after the full-game-restart when failing a level, would have been nice to be able to retry on the same level.
All in all, nice take on the theme and nice game. Well done :)
I liked this entry a lot. Really solid idea, and I look forward to trying out your post-mortem version at a later point. The atmosphere was great, and it worked out very well as a two-button strategy game.
Two thoughts about possible improvement:
- As many have mentioned, the controls and purposes were sometimes somewhat hard to understand. The introduction screen was good - I would have liked to be able to show that later during the game (for example: to see the crafting components). I got the hang of resting and eating, but didn't fully understand the crafting until after restart.
- My inventory got filled up with bones and another un-edible component which blocked me from gathering wood and food. This led to that I lost two members before reaching the end, which was a bit unsatisfying.
To some it up: Slightly confusing to grasp, but easily one of my favorites this Ludum Dare. Looking forward to future versions!
Interesting little game :) Would have been interesting to see with some animations!
I think you did well with this. You seem to have a feeling for the game mechanics. You picked a concept with a small scope, and performed it well, spot on the theme. It was a bit too much shaking for my liking, a less intrusive shake would have worked better I think. But nevertheless, this was probably one of the most entertaining games I've played in this Ludum Dare. Well done :)
This was definitely one of the most interesting entries I have played during this Ludum Dare. In particular I liked the characters with their different quirks, to get to know them. And the clay figures were fantastic. One thing I thought about was that when I missed the hints (clicked to fast) I didn't have any lead on where to go and had to go everywhere which was a slight annoyance - the hints could be reiterated alongside the insults.
Overall, I think this one was impressive, both in terms of creativity and execution. Well done :)
Nice engine! It was charming. I hope you will use it for a more extensive game in the future :)
Nice concept, and the game looks nice too! I had some issues with the combat - everything became slow when I reached the skeletons and attacks were delayed - so it was hard to fight properly!
The game itself was not so interesting for me - I died fast and hard over and over again. But the text made it all worth it. I am a sucker for metaphorical weight.
Nice game! Thanks for the hint. Had to give up after a while anyway. Would have been interesting to see how he would have ended up if I complemented him all the way!
Interesting idea, I played it for a while (score 65). I would have liked a bit faster ramping of the difficulty (where there a ramping?). It felt like a quite complete little game, and was entertaining to play, so well done!
Very interesting! I love how you have taken the 'two-button-avoid'-idea and made it into something interesting. When up to speed, there were really a sense of speed, and the blinking to switch lanes was what made this one stick out to me.
Some feedback would be that it worked really well until I started colliding (around level 7). Then it became slightly frustrating to be bounced from car to car. I also think it would have helped with a slightly milder penalty for collision, now it felt like I could as well have exploded - the level was lost.
Nevertheless, I had a great time with this. Well done :)
Nice, simple concept! It was fun to play, though the unforgiving collision detection made it hard to know if you were safe from the cars or not.
It has a really nice look about it! And, is that proper sound acting that I hear? If so, quite impressive indeed. One quite big issue I had was that the browser didn't capture the arrow keys for me. That, together with a game screen much larger than my laptop window led to that I moved the entire window around together with the dog. Otherwise, seems like a solid game :)
Interesting and very polished entry! Took some time to get the hang of the controls, but then they felt good. It was challenging though, and I would have liked to restart on the second level instead of starting from the beginning. Nevertheless, one of the most polished entries I've seen during this Ludum Dare. Soon ready to ship!
I have somewhat mixed feeling for this one. On one hand I appreciate that you put this effort into making a joke-game. It took me some frantic moments before I realized that starvation was the purpose. On the other hand it looks like a potentially very interesting game, which I would have liked to play. I hope you'll make a post-jam version :)
Nice concept and mechanics! The gameplay itself became a bit frustrating for me - I had to try to memorize where I would die. A slightly slower and more forgiving pace (or, easy mode) would have solved this for me - but that could very well be a matter of personal taste. Overall, impressive entry. Well done!
Nice atmosphere in this one! You did well with the visuals and the sound. I found the controls to be a bit hard to work with sometimes, the jumping sometimes became locked straight upwards, and the clicking on the crate felt a bit unnecessary.
Overall I found this a very interesting entry to play. Well done!
Nicely polished game - both graphics and well made dialogue. Could have been faster to the action in the start. Nice and responsive game mechanics. Good job :)
Interesting idea! I like the lo-fi graphics, especially the hippy sprite :D, though the buttons were a bit hard to understand.
Good work!
I think this came together really nicely. This is definitely one of my favourite games this far in this Ludum Dare. I think the mood stood out as particular good - the visuals, the sound effects and the haunting music, together with the occasional texts. Nice!
Nice and snappy game. Good awesome-per-second in this, I think the difficulty ramped well, and I liked the short levels. I thought it was mouse only (with mouse-pad) which was slightly awkward, but then I realized that I of course could play it with the keyboard. Could have been interesting with some harder levels at the end.
All in all. Well done, I enjoyed it :)
Very nice game! I especially liked how certain parts of the music got louder when you charged the laser.
I missed what you wrote in the description about skipping levels, so it was a bit too easy for me.
It has a beautiful look. It would be nice to play it with music :)
It had a nice atmosphere, and I really liked the concept. I got a bit nauseated by the constantly rotating screen. I played all the levels to hear the different songs (nice to have one song for each level!). It would have been interesting to have some kind of threat on the levels. Keep it up, I enjoyed this one :)
Innovative style, quite different from most other things I have played during the Ludum Dare. Solid setting, would be interesting with some more challenging game play :)
I liked this a lot! Managed to get past two of the pink blobs. Charming graphic and really nice atmosphere. Two small complaints: The sound effects has a bit painful volume which makes it hard to enjoy the music and the initial instructions was kind of hard to read. Other than that, I liked it a lot. Keep up the good work :)
I had some issues with a particular platform (level 3 I think?) that lay completely still, but still I was sometimes able to get on top of it and sometimes not. After repeated dying, I finally conceded to the erratic platform. I think the movement, and platform-person interaction could benefit from some further work.
Nevertheless, I think it was an interesting concept, and entertaining to play for a while. Well done :)
Thanks for the comments everyone! It is really appreciated.
We agree with your comments LastResortGames and local minimum about the size of the heart in the end - It could probably be balanced in a more interesting way. It would also be interesting to think about the controls, to decide if they are challenging in an interesting way or in an annoying way.
@BroCade - Thanks for your comment! The cell should be tinted green when you are ready to shoot. Does the tinting not work for you?
Very cool and nicely implemented concept! I really liked that the virus increased in scale with every level.
Maybe you could increase the radius of the attacks though, it was very hard to click in exactly the right spot.
You seem to have something nice on its way here! It was a bit unforgiving though, would have been nice with some warm-up enemies, or more health.
Nice, I liked the mood and the visuals in particular. Spot on with the theme. Well done!
Nice idea! It was sometimes a bit unclear for me what was going on - clear feedback of the collisions would have been nice. Also, the initial text didn't fit in the resolution of my computer (I could read 2/3 of it). Nevertheless, nice little game. Good luck with future game jams!
It had a nice feeling about it, feeling a bit nice and fuzzy after playing it :) Beautiful visuals, which came together nicely with the sound effects. Well done!
I found this extremely interesting, likely the most entertaining game out of the ~50 I have played this far this Ludum Dare. And this is not only because I am a sucker for vertical shooters.
I liked the simple, very clear and very interesting game mechanics. The limited amount of bullets led to that I constantly had to experiment with different strategies. I liked the status display - very clear and concise, and still very clear what the player was up to with the shapes and colors. The graphics have a clear and nice style, and the music set a fitting mood. The controls were responsive, and worked exactly as they should. The downside might be that the take on the theme wasn't that impressive.
I would very much like to play a more fleshed out post-Ludum Dare version of this. Well done!!
Good work finishing your first Ludum Dare game! :)
I liked that the game was difficult, and that the levels had some room for exploration. The controls were a bit unreliable for me though, so maybe they could use some tweaking.
I like the expressive blocks. Took me some time to understand what was going on, but then it was quite easy to make it through. Would have been interesting with some (or more) ramping of difficulty!
Nice game! It would have been interesting with some more challenge keeping the Pocket Person at good health. But I enjoyed the calm mood of it.
Nice mechanics! I really like the you-control-the-swarm type of games. It was sometimes hard to control the soldiers properly, especially when navigating subsets of them, and it would have been nice with a clearer display of the fighting. Nevertheless, this game was great fun and I played through all the story-driven levels. Well done!
Nice game! The starting and ending screens were really cool (I actually got some goose bumps when first starting the game). The gameplay itself was solid. It would have been interesting to play with some more feedback (both sound and graphically) while consuming the various things, and with more dangerous enemies. Nevertheless, great job. This was one of my favorite entries this far.
I was unable to play it properly - the mouse was frozen, unable to move, while the game was running.
I found it a bit scary to provide the game administrative rights for my computer. Would it be possible to create an executable which doesn't require admin-rights?
Nice idea, I enjoy this kind of games! Some feedback: Sometimes the right/left-brain choices felt distinguished, sometimes they didn't. Some of the less distinguished could perhaps be cut out, to highlight the more interesting parts of the story line. Nevertheless, good job and good luck with future games!
Really good graphics! I also liked the idea of shooting and moving with the same button. It became very difficult after a while though.
It looks very nice! I am only able to move very slowly though, so didn't manage to experience it properly.
This was really, really nice. It really captured a particular kind of ambiance. Impressive, and something I hope to see in more games. (And yes, it would be very interesting to see this concept in a larger context, perhaps with more visual support :)
