LD23 — Tiny World

Star Drill by tinymagus 2012-04-27T11:08:00

At first I didnt realise that they can fill up the tunnels pretty easily, and got a few VERY close calls when the tunnel filled and a few meteorites hit the planet right next to me, leaving me with no movement space when falling to the next planet

Got 33 so far, I never got to the center :<

Very original and innovative :D

Lighthouse by gritfish 2012-04-30T08:57:00

Very polished game, I like it a lot! Although the randomized puzzles made the game really easy at times(and really hard as well, especially with some unbeatable levels o_o) I liked the mechanics, very original, and the "world" view added some story/progression to it as well :) Good work!

Supercell by Nick Cash 2012-04-30T14:30:00

I loved the soundtrack :DD I loved the player animation, very cartoonish :DD

Hmm, the enemies could've been a bit more lively, they just spammed from a few corners and it felt slightly repetitive, but the difficulty curve was nicely set for this game. Wasn't too hard at first but clearly started to had troubles a bit later and it was just massacre later D:

I had fun playing it, the soundtrack set the mood for the game! Nice interpretation of the theme as well(my game holds a similar idea, thanks for the comment on my timelapse video as well ^^)

Immune System (virus vs. antibodies game) by martensms 2012-04-24T22:27:00

I dont know why but the game started lagging really bad, spikes that happen maybe every 2 seconds and increase in length with the number of units. Got a nostalgic feel of the unit command voices, but they became too repetitive after a while :/

It seems every time I tried to take out their last base, they just sent everyone to that one cell, and since the lag made sending large amounts of units to the cell impossible, never beat it :(

Nanobot Rescue Team by Hegemege 2012-04-23T16:54:00

Alright, thanks so far for the feedback! I dunno, I like how the shooting sound is repetitive pewpewpew all the time in scrolling shooters, maybe that's just the way I am :P

Nanobot Rescue Team by Hegemege 2012-04-26T15:15:00

I should probably patch and fix the mute button, I wonder if that's possible :D

Next version will have much better balanced sounds, I promise :)

Nanobot Rescue Team by Hegemege 2012-04-26T15:28:00

Need someone with a mac so I can build a native app :( or try running the Linux version, installation of the dependencies is a bit harder though

Blob Blob TROUBLE! by samooJAM 2012-04-27T17:23:00

Pretty cool, no idea what I was doing at first :D

Also, I was able to move for quite a while after the Reply button appeared

Could've used some soundtrack

TINY COMPUTER PEOPLE by Tuba 2012-04-27T10:16:00

Kpet me playing forr quite a while! A bit easy if you ask me, but nevertheless an awesome game and theme usage :DD

GERMS! by ahm99 2012-04-27T10:21:00

I got 340 by just standing there, the white cells always seemed to win D:

Congrats on your first LD entry! (check my game as well, the idea is kind of similar :P)

Quantum Entanglement by icefallgames 2012-04-30T14:55:00

Mind-blowing transition effect! Visuals were pleasing and the last two puzzles were really nice :D

I like the concept a lot, now go make more levels, I'd definitely want see this with custom level editor too. Really innovative game, I had something similar in mind at first but decided not go for it: apparently this game would've beaten it many times :D

Awesome work!

NANO M.D. by anulith 2012-04-23T15:58:00

The lack of sounds made this game very... empty. While the bot you control is inside a body, the background is dark-blue. Plus for the powerups, but the game is relatively easy and I found myself staying still for the most of the time just spraying the nearest baddies and then sniping the rest.

The graphics and theme are the strongest points in this game. It just otherwise feels very empty.

Immunity by Waffenwars 2012-04-27T18:30:00

The instructions could've been slightly better, to tell how many resources are needed for each type, that I cant really think of any other negative thing about this game. The graphics and sound made the mood for the game, fascinating theme interpretation and like said already: cellular automation tower defence? Hell yeah! :D

Walker by Catman 2012-04-27T13:50:00

Awesome visuals O_O

Loved the soundtrack, the gameplay is cool and rather original and innovative

Bugs by schizofunky 2012-04-27T16:31:00

If it only had more levels :<

Solid gameplay and needed some memorization to know where the light beams change direction. Nice graphics!

Recluse by chambers 2012-04-28T11:41:00

Awesome game! Really original idea, liked the graphics a lot but no sound? :/

TinyNuke by nixeldev 2012-04-27T11:20:00

Very solid game, liked the graphics and the sound effects a lot :D

Maybe slight gravity would've been good, I missed some planets really close :/

Full Circuit by JMRante 2012-04-29T12:06:00

I loved the game but I can't stress this enough: an undo button, maybe even one-use per level! I misplaced the very last block on a level and ragequited, it's just too much work for each level without checkpoints.

The difficulty makes the game awesome, though. I love the design and graphics.

Drill It!: Demolition Co. by Julian Spillane 2012-04-30T19:38:00

Awesome planet design, loved the last one especially :D

Hmm, it was rather easy though, because the player had no "health" and the time limit was a bit too much IMO, not really a challenge to beat it

Props for the use of so few colors and the polished feel of the game. Only thing that bugged me was how the game somehow grabbed all the controls on kongregate, had to click taskbar to refresh page etc.

Good work!

Tinybacterus by Vertigo 2012-04-23T12:33:00

The soundtrack fits the game well, the movement is good and the particle effects look cool! It feels very empty on the other hand, and my clickfinger got tired quite fast. This could use some polishing and new game elements but it's surely a good game to play if you have a few minutes of spare time.

Tiny Worlds by Lidfrid 2012-04-29T13:06:00

Liked the graphics, but for some reason found the music a bit irritating at times :/ Good work though in putting it together!

It was a wee bit too short, and slightly too slow-paced to my taste, but I liked the clear graphical style a lot! This could turn into something nice if you decide to put more work to it :)

Don't mess with magical cube by toadd-y 2012-04-27T10:51:00

I would've liked it a lot more if there were any sounds in it :/

The level design was pretty good, it wasn't clear how to get to the red things at first and activate them, but after rereading the description for controls, it was overall pretty nice, and difficult. Good job on your first game, I really liked the graphics :P

Tiny Shogi 48 by Codexus 2012-04-28T11:27:00

Amazing work with the graphics! Ai could've been better (I've never played shogi and managed to beat him always, but I'm an experienced chess player on the other hand...)

Keep up with the good work, I'd love to see more advanced AI for this :)

Cracked by TimBeaudet 2012-04-24T06:53:00

wow, this game surely is one of my favorites so far! Now I can't get the music off from my head, where have I heard it before?... In overall, a very, very nice game!

Penguin by asfdfdfd 2012-04-27T18:55:00

This could easily translate to something cool if polished more and added some new stuff to it.

I liked the difficulty curve, and at first I thought the game was done after the first death but noticed there's the upgrade screen, so I played a few times more :D

Liked the graphics, sound effects were okay, but it was missing a background track, which kicks the mood a bit. Overall, a fun game :D

Creature Collect by moop 2012-04-25T20:42:00

Hmm, I found the sudden bouncing quite annoying, and in fact sometimes all the animals just bounced off at very high speeds randomly off the planets

The graphics are pretty cool though, good job!

Nanobot Adventures by mattperrin 2012-05-03T17:01:00

The game felt nice but requires some polishing :/

Nice take on the graphics :D

Milunar by WITS 2012-04-23T10:00:00

Surely a small and fun game to play, but lacks complete feel. Clear and simple graphics

Tiny World War by hannobraun 2012-04-24T20:21:00

What an interesting desgin! This concept would be so awesome to play online if the game was polished :)

shiprage by AirRider3 2012-04-26T17:08:00

This kind of game could easily turn into a sophisticated strategy game :)

It was a bit unclear at first how to shoot(should've read the info on this page more properly ^^) but it turned out quite fun game, and it was interesting to see how the main battling area moved around constantly with some guerrillas here and there :P

Couldn't really find how this comes together with the theme properly though, could use some polishing but a fun 5-minuter :)

Amoebae by scgrn 2012-04-27T09:53:00

Very solid game for what it is, although growing larger would've been cool, so I could've nommed those bullies >:D

Liked the audio and simplistic graphics, in overall an enjoyable small game :)

BeetleVenture by Nidjo123 2012-04-26T17:00:00

The shooting sound started to pitch my ear a bit, so I had to turn the volume down, and maybe some bug flying sound could've easily fitted the game to enhance the audio experience

Nice work with implementing the theme, the background is very cool and made playing the game very pleasant. Could've used a bit more varied gameplay and more sophisticated AI for the boss, which made me just spam space and sometimes move up/down to avoid the boss' spam.

CULVEN by NeoTalon 2012-04-23T16:31:00

The gameplay is very buggy, the second dungeon wipes your score D:

Audio was nice, controls could've been a bit better(with diagonal movement), moving through the dungeon was a bit of pain sometimes.

Difficult enough to keep me playing for enough to explore the whole mainland, couldn't go across the sea because the boat is buggy :D

Good job on UI design and the lighting system, although there were lighting bugs in the map view in dungeon. Very nice main menu! (help screen could've been made better with anything else than Game Maker's builtin F1 :P)

Pixel Progression by pighead10 2012-04-27T17:55:00

The gameplay was somehow very addicting, managed to play it maniacly for as long as it lasted, before CTD :P

The enemies were pretty easy to kill, and maybe the movement could've been a bit faster, but I liked the exploration/void idea in it. I couldn't find where the theme fit to this properly though, except for everything represented by tiny pixels ;P

Props for mood and fun, cons for lack of background sound and the few bugs :/ I hope you can sort them out and make something sweet out of this, it was a good demonstration of a nice gameplay idea!

70 seconds left by emveyh 2012-04-24T20:04:00

I couldn't find the theme in a high role in this game, but the laid-back attitude and devastation made for it slightly. A small and fun game in it's simplest form, but I would've wanted some challenge from it aside from beating other's highscores :P

The Dream Sequencer by Morgawr 2012-04-26T17:32:00

Well, that was an interesting experience :) Props for getting that much content in it in the timeframe! The ending could've been a bit shorter though. Awesome music made an awesome mood to the game, liked it a lot. Slightly scary, which added some serious out-of-this-world feelings to the game, a good bonus for any game :)

LD26 — Minimalism

Ball & Cup by ohsqueezy 2013-04-30T12:15:00

Really solid game, runs well on both my Windows and Ubuntu machines, much nicer to play on a 11" netbook than 21" monitor :P

Also worth noting I used the A key to charge, found it out just randomly.

I ran the game by renaming the ball-cup file to ball-cup.py in Windows and running that from cmd. On ubuntu I just chmod u+x'd the ball-cup file and ran it.

Funny game, but greatly punishing if you fail.

A fish called Revenge by Tiago Ling Alexandre 2013-04-29T16:51:00

The fish controls were kindof sliding, it was hard to maneuver at first. I couldnt get more health since the big fish just followed me :D The second try I managed to kill him. Nice work on the intro!

Neonisation by Hegemege 2013-04-30T21:21:00

Thanks all for your great feedback and comments! I wish I had time to implement the online level sharing, but now that so many like the game, I might just add it within the near future! :)

Neonisation by Hegemege 2013-05-03T11:05:00

The only reason that could happen is that either it didn't extract all the map files when you unzipped the folder, or you hit Esc rather than space. Try redownloading the zip, and make sure there are all 26 map files in /src/data/maps

Neonisation by Hegemege 2013-05-04T00:22:00

@Coruon
Thanks for the feedback, I was planning a sort of minimum performance to pass each level (and best scores to be displayd in the global level sharing / leaderboards), but I much rather polished the features I had.

@Others
I'm very tempted to make this a proper full game now. The positive feedback means a lot to me :)

Neonisation by Hegemege 2013-05-13T12:55:00

You can press R during a level and in the completion screen between levels to retry that level (the actions are shown in the bottom area, easy to notice)

VIB by samooJAM 2013-04-30T11:44:00

Nice original puzzle game! I liked the first green spreading thing-level, it kind of reminded of the dragon curve... Anyhow, the puzzles were quite fun to play and challenging at first. I didnt know I had two walls until halfway through the levels. The last level was tricky!

I liked the graphical style, the sound effects fit the game well.

Square Wars by stromchin 2013-05-02T18:11:00

Nice game in overall, although it could use some work. Would've been helpful to know exactly what each unit does, and what beats what. Maybe the enemy has an advantage since it starts with modified factories, while the player starts with all red?

Anyways, great concept, it was thrilling to watch them fight each other (even though I lost every time) :)

Lightrail by Geoege 2013-04-29T17:40:00

Extremely difficult, to the point of frustration :D

Nice visuals though, but the laser moved way too fast to be able to control it properly.

RedShot by Jellycakes 2013-04-29T21:30:00

Yeah, the camera is very quite sensitive. I love the arena theme of the game. The design of the level does make it really really easy if the player just camps in the corner though. The transition animation was a blast, I kind of anticipated something like that the first time I hit that button. :P

Great little game, could've maybe used some sort of soundtrack.

IMBARINTH by brookman 2013-05-03T11:07:00

Great game! The gameplay mechanics are from the well known board game Labyrinth, oh the memories...

I loved the visuals and the simple soundtrack.

Pix by Holofire 2013-04-30T11:14:00

Awesome puzzle game! The controls are really good, the game mechanics feel intuitive and the steady difficulty curve kept the player happy for being able to complete even the hardest of levels in a reasonable amount of time (I beat all 30 of them in 20 minutes I think) Again, really great work!

Zombie Blocks Attack by hgouveia 2013-04-29T17:06:00

The soundtrack sure is minimalistic. Fun game to play

mesh by nseward 2013-04-30T17:21:00

Great game, couldn't get past level 10 (I mean srsly, a second pit after the first one? >.>)

I was kindof waiting for the level where you need to lower your momentum enough to hit the center, glad you added that in (twice)

Minimalistic Color Labyrinth by humpback studios 2013-05-04T00:02:00

Nice small game, too bad it was only one level (although it was clearly in three parts). I spent quite a while on the bottomleft area trying to figure out how the colours work by spamming them, and in the final puzzle thought each part out first before moving. The soundtrack was goofy, minimalistic as a whole indeed.

Sociales Santillana by Ithildin 2013-05-01T15:56:00

A really nice puzzle game I must say. Took a few minutes to learn the mechanics, and met the matching bug three times during my playtime. With more polishing, this could be a great game, I'd definitely love to play it again!

THE POTATO GAME by BleuLlama 2013-05-02T11:39:00

Step 267: The potato monster is still strong. I wonder if this will be my end. I made some potato soup today. It was delicious.

Keypad Trainer Turbo by sol_hsa 2013-04-29T12:41:00

Nice use of theme, good implementation of the idea. I found myself better using the number row rather than a keypad, but I guess I could train to use it. Make another version with pi digits or something the player can memorise (although this has been done before)

Red Swarm by Cirrial 2013-04-29T18:16:00

I think it's a good strategy game in overall. I liked the way the queen has to protect the fighting soldiers. Most of the concerns are in the previous comment already :P

Really nice and addicting game though.

Lights by corrigan_sam 2013-04-29T17:28:00

Very minimalistic. It seems all three can be lit in one frame, so it's an insta-kill, which happened to my twice within the first 10 clicks, and then on 64th. I didn't notice the speed picking up either, which would have been cool, along with steadier lights :P

Dungeon of the Rectangles by antonijn 2013-04-29T13:19:00

Simple enough, liked watching the stream. The game is quite challenging, unless you slow play it. PTFOing got me to 37 kills.

(Follow the) Line by Chman 2013-04-30T09:51:00

Fits the theme pretty well, couldnt get past the 19th challenge

MOTHBOTS by terrivellmann 2013-04-30T00:36:00

124 seconds, 40 cells on first try. Wicked graphics and insane concentration requirement! :DD

Snake In A Cube by OU GDA 2013-05-11T22:19:00

Nice music choice, had fun playing the game :P

I think it got a little bit too fast too soon, and it's really hard to collect the nodes at that speed. Either slow it down or add more of them and I'd be even more fun to play! Great job

Colors Pursuit by Nambew 2013-04-29T16:24:00

Really good in terms of skill, you die after your own errors and due to not planning. Nice little game

Snobits by gmaker 2013-05-01T23:45:00

Sometimes the bubbles would escape from under the dudes feet and rise in the air, thus making it kinda frustrating at times :P

Cool concept though, but felt a bit glitchy at times. Controls were fine in my opinion. Nice graphics too, those small feet :)

Minimal Defense by Xelanon 2013-04-30T23:07:00

Unique game, at least for the art "style" :D

Gameplay wise, hit detection was nice, but don't really like negative score for missing shots. Wave progression felt nice too.

Maxwell Rush by lanz 2013-04-29T16:42:00

Awesome game! "Heat is work and work is heat", check this youtube video about thermodynamics :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtEqn-5XHpU

Nice work on the physics part, the awards were pretty fun as well. The dynamics of the game are really cool!

Life/Routine by lightnarcissus 2013-04-29T11:19:00

That was a bit weird :P

The collision detection was a bit sloppy and in the third phase the bullets moved kinda odd, but the way the sounds were created made for some pretty cool and nasty melodies.

Between the lines by martijn 2013-04-29T14:26:00

Interesting concept, but the game controls felt a bit sloppy. Some of the puzzles were kinda frustrating, but there were some nice puzzles there as well. Overall, pretty good job!

Formless Reliquary by PsenFilip 2013-04-29T22:23:00

Got 341 greens and 5 purples, made one error only :P

Really addicting game, very good implementation of the idea both technically and graphically. Only thing lacking is a soundtrack, but a solid and enjoyable game! Well done.

Play The Game by Fervir 2013-04-29T13:14:00

That was a lot of fun, got 26 points

I Dream of a Beam by ocmu 2013-05-01T23:55:00

Neat graphics and nice job with the audio. The small red ones started really close sometimes, almost instakilled, but other than that, the gameplay and controls felt smooth.

NinjaFlare by 8BitPimp 2013-04-30T13:31:00

Beautiful game indeed, I would've liked an option for windowed, since SDL always moves my windows around when going fullscreen.

Really smooth game, but lacks a soundtrack.

Tower of Pixel by AlanZucconi 2013-05-02T00:31:00

Really relaxing game. I went for digging to the bottom after I hit the first blue wall. The controls were kinda iffy at times, especially if you pick up blocks by accident, but other than that a really decent game!

Only One Shot by Xanjos 2013-05-08T00:14:00

Simple, true to the theme, but too short :<
The puzzles themselves were not really difficult, it was just the timing. The first time I cleared the final level I thought I ran out of lifes or something and replayed the game :P

My Little Robo by m64 2013-04-29T12:24:00

That was so much fun! I ended up glitching on top of the table and it swang my robot all the way to the left http://prntscr.com/12o02w

Very cool concept, fits the theme perfectly!

Ginnungagap by kyyninen 2013-05-03T14:16:00

Very original and overall a great game I must say! Every day in the game feels like a small story of how the poor guardian tries to stop the invasion of people into the forest, just to find out they have built more houses on the other side of the forest. The controls and graphics felt polished, only thing missing is an ambient soundtrack.

Dwalk by Joritan Cety 2013-04-29T11:27:00

Nice little game. Took a few tries to learn to maneuver both players on one keyboard. The enemies were kinda ruthless if they caught you into a corner :P

Minimalistic by NightDreamer 2013-04-29T22:10:00

The game crashed after I finished the second level, right after the level blacked out. The first level and highscore input worked okay. The third level worked as well

About the game itself, at least it fits the theme well. It could have some more gameplay to it, since it's quite a random walk at the moment. It's a solid game though, the main menu looks really cool!

Filler by TP2k 2013-04-29T16:33:00

Nice and funny game! I made something a bit similar in design, check it out :P

Duds by nexantic.com 2013-04-30T09:58:00

Love the concept! Could become a great game if developed further :P

Nerdogochi by tiffi 2013-04-29T11:00:00

So the global highscores is real? Damn you, I was doing good but got a phone call.

Nice job, this game requires 100% concentration from the player. I can't wait till someone makes a bot or floods the high scores :D (I would tune down the sound effect volume a lot, the soundtrack is too low when compared to the effects. +1 for autotracker)

A simple world by thephantom 2013-05-04T00:17:00

What an awesome game, really in depth in terms of story. If only the music was originally yours, I would rate the Mood and Audio to 5 both, but I really can't (everything you use must be made during the weekend)

Well done on the mechanics though, the story is one of the best I've seen in this compo, in terms of fitting the theme. And if you ask me, the slow text fits the mood, but an option to fully display it would be cool.

Minimo by mire 2013-04-29T12:03:00

Yeah, this game could definitely use a save system. The concept is pretty cool though and the audio cue makes it easier for a human to remember the pattern and predict :P

Mind the Gap by shiprib 2013-05-02T17:33:00

Great game! I made something a bit similar for GPCv17, but you had to build bridges to connect islands, and the people would destroy them after a few uses. Games with graphs are always a ton of fun to play!

The game felt really easy at the beginning but I was stunned at how well the routes would handle all the traffic, got 750 and 930. Anyways, it was a huge chaos in the end, each line was 6-7 stations long.

Very nice job!

Back to basics TD by techmonkey 2013-04-29T11:59:00

A really solid TD game, I managed to get to wave 46 with almost a full map of arrow towers. I wonder what the theoretical max wave is.

Ming Imah Lism the Wizard ! by Gustera 2013-04-29T12:36:00

I fell in love with the goblin sounds, very nice job! :P

The boss fight was pretty intense and he finally killed me, not sure if there was any indication of how much health he has?

100% Safe Download by 3.14 2013-04-29T22:46:00

Haha, really nice humour :DD

Nice visual effects, although they started to hurt my eyes after a bit. The controls felt smooth and the game felt in overall really polished, so good job!

Grid Blaster by Alucard Jay 2013-05-03T00:03:00

Very solid game in overall, felt retro and addicting. Good job on polishing, didn't see any bugs and liked the way the grid healed itself :P

Karate Alien Color Attack by papazoot 2013-04-29T11:06:00

Nice one, got 47k score. Fits the theme pretty good :P

BEAN by FenLudum 2013-04-29T09:47:00

The game is pretty difficult! :P I like the gameplay a lot though, it's both simple and very addictive. Nice use of theme as well, the bean looks like an untextured standard cylinder, +1. I couldn't get past the first slope under the red ceiling, I tried going over and under but couldn't make it.

BLoX by ThirteenWB 2013-04-30T21:43:00

I liked the colors a lot, increased the mood of the game! I found myself battling the first two areas and then rushing forward to see if there was some content, so I died pretty quickly there. I couldnt figure out what the abilities did, I saw the message that you got the lazor but it didnt function or I just didnt know how to use it :P

Really simple and enjoyable game, fits the theme really well!

Synesthesis by TheFuntastic 2013-04-30T00:30:00

Really cool concept! It would've been helpful to see the nodes you have connected, but it's a minor thing (in the screenshot they are visible though, I also had some flickering if the camera was in the default position). +1 on minimalistic description

Synesthesis by TheFuntastic 2013-05-02T11:21:00

Here's a screenshot of the flickering, only happens when the camera has not been moved. http://prntscr.com/1333u7

And this time playing I can see the connections. Really weird, I couldn't see them the first time. I just got this bug as well http://prntscr.com/133424 , after finishing the level one of the nodes got stuck and keep repeating the audio for it, might be just that the solution breaks after reaching the goal?

The Unseen by Lamprabbit 2013-04-29T10:18:00

Really cool game I must say! The battlefield speaks for itself, really good mood. I'm not sure whether there was some reward for finding your body without dieing, but I missed it the first time because I didn't explode the final square. Nice work, especially for your first LD ;)

Minimalism in art and music as a game by MikeyPB 2013-05-02T11:36:00

Step 267: The potato monster is still strong. I wonder if this will be my end. I made some potato soup today. It was delicious.

Minimalism in art and music as a game by MikeyPB 2013-05-02T11:38:00

Woops, wrong comment on wrong game :D

Minimalism in art and music as a game by MikeyPB 2013-05-02T11:48:00

Here's the real comment though :P

I had hard time understanding how the game works, the visual cue of what happens for each click could've been better. I managed to win the game just by random clicking the first time, and tried to get a better score the second time by following the rules. Fun idea nonetheless, music games are close to my heart. :) (Sorry about the hassle in the two previous comments, I had multiple tabs open and forgot to check which one I was rating after playing the game)

Tubulance by merteor 2013-05-03T23:43:00

Very nice and polished game, love the arcade touch. The soundtrack was epic and the visuals were stunning. One of my favorite arcade games, even though the controls are just a tiny bit too sensitive to my liking.

Hurdles by dreamlogician 2013-04-30T22:58:00

That was spammy :D

Although it became a bit boring after a few minutes, and then it took like 5 minutes for the last 3 red runners to die. But extremely cool and original concept, well fitting the theme :)

Flingler by Folis 2013-04-30T13:47:00

Pretty challenging and the rope slicing was a gamble, but overall a nice game! Would've been cool to have some more game elements, but I guess it's as minimaslistic as it gets now :)

PRISMA by Dark Acre Jack 2013-05-01T23:19:00

Wicked game, very original and fun idea, got a really intensive feeling while playing. Really unique from other games, felt polished but too short!

Art games by Fififox 2013-05-02T17:51:00

HAHAHA, really nice concept. After it became way too fast for me to react to the words or try memorising them, I started spamming the space, resulting in tens of words per second :D

We Dreamers by stevejohnson 2013-05-02T17:43:00

Fun! Felt a bit like geocaching :P

Cress by thristhart 2013-05-03T10:42:00

Interesting! As a chess player myself, I appreciate people who make similar games with new mechanics. A simple AI would've been so good for the game.

Dream Fishing by Sophie Houlden 2013-04-30T18:23:00

Nice work Sophie! I loved especially the way the caught fish grows fings and flies away :D

Mondrian Click by CherryNukaCola 2013-05-02T17:03:00

Smooth audio and overall quite relaxing. Had some click detection issues though, but a nice little game!

Lead the Bunny by Joseph Roque 2013-05-04T01:00:00

Really solid concept, but the brute 3 deaths and restart is not always a good idea. Quite interesting mechanics though, the poor bunny never saw that cannonball coming :/

Squares by KunoNoOni 2013-05-04T00:53:00

Fun gameplay, thrillingly simple music :P

I don't know how the game plays on other's browsers, but I had a 20-30 frames per second, and I like my dodging games at smooth 60 :P Nice job!

More than bricks by Mesene 2013-04-29T18:26:00

Really nice idea, and good job at making it so minimalistic. :D

Slope by flashkick 2013-05-02T19:38:00

Really nice game! I managed to find the cheat, that is, slide along the railing! I fell down after getting too many blue dots on the side railing at level 19, around 16 000 meters or something ridiculous. The jump... sick. Really nice work, minimalistic style!

The Fair King by caranha 2013-04-29T13:02:00

Wow, a really calming game. Also pretty challenging!

I liked the way you had to draw the lines quite fast, props to anyone who gets all A's. The soundtrack fits the game really well.

Katana Senpou by saint11 2013-04-30T00:47:00

Stunning graphics, really fun and a bit challenging game! Lovely audio as well. 5/5 hands down

ProductionVille by Blinked 2013-05-04T00:47:00

Impressive amount of work you've put into this game :O Gameplay was smooth, missing some fancy effects like people moving on streets, but in overall felt really good and fun to play. Nice day/night cycle and lightning, good use of colours as well, nice and simple.

MiniMario by dem0 2013-04-29T23:17:00

Relaxing game, I got to level 5 I think, but I couldnt jump the gap first time so I came back to RTFM :P

Nice mario clone, everything seems to be working smoothly.

Auraline by Julian Ceipek 2013-05-04T11:48:00

Very original idea, nice audio and mood! Now my eyes hurt after watching the thin line :D

Art Attack by Morgawr 2013-04-29T10:47:00

What a great story. I couldn't find a use for quite some of the items, but it matters not. The audio was really calming and fit to the game. The graphics style is pretty cool, quite minimalistic I would say. Great job!

Knightly Knight by dsoft20 2013-05-03T11:16:00

Fun game, even though a bit slow paced. Fits the theme really well, good job :P

Zmore by mrspeaker 2013-04-30T10:42:00

That was a lot of fun! Nice sound effects, but the game is way too short :< Neat concept that should be extended! I think the maps were spot on - not too difficult or too easy. Nice one

LD27 — 10 Seconds

1007Quest by Hegemege 2013-08-27T22:28:00

Thanks for your nice comments! The combat took the most time to code, I wish I could've made it better. Then again, how diverse combat can you make in 48 hours? (same reason I didn't do any animations, just too little time) :)

1007Quest by Hegemege 2013-09-14T20:40:00

Thanks! One of my main goals was to exactly have the pressure of evaluating which item is better. That's why there are some meaningless stats like Chicken Nightmares occasionally.

Ochre by ben 2013-08-27T20:10:00

The game felt pretty empty even though that was sort of the whole idea I think. I really like the graphics though! The background audio had some static noise which really started to get on my nerves.

Up-Run by garygreen 2013-08-27T20:22:00

Really nice soundtrack! I understood the game mechanics pretty fast, but was still unable to get 2nd place in the five matches I played because I would always get boosted by up arrows and couldnt evade them :( Would've been better if the AI moved faster/picked more upwards arrows. Nice concept though

Clocked In by rylgh 2013-08-27T19:56:00

Really smooth game, first try got to 21 and finished on second try. Nice level design, simple concept and good controls.

IMPACT by ENDESGA 2013-09-03T14:43:00

What a combination of soundtrack and simple gameplay, I knew this game was going to be gringe worthy from the beginning. Nice job with animations and the mood of the impact!

Black Hole Arena by Andrei Müller 2013-09-03T13:55:00

This game would've been much more enjoyable with some audio. I liked the visuals, but it would've been cool to actually see the powerups on the minimap or something. The game became really easy after getting a few fire rate upgrades. I tried to wait for the enemies to kill me and there were maybe a few hundred of them or something in the end, which didn't even lower the framerate at all. Good job

Adventure Company by Mark Venturelli 2013-09-03T14:33:00

Really awesome game, enjoyed it a lot!

LD34 — Two Button Controls / Growing

Sort the Court! by graebor 2015-12-17T20:21:00

I could play this for ages, reached 1500 pop and couldn't get any new characters or stories for a few days. Absolutely fantastic, well polished! My top favorite for sure so far!

Double Kick Heroes by blackmagic 2015-12-16T16:58:00

Such a well-polished game overall! I found it hard to listen to the music though, so simple volume sliders would be great :)

Left-leaning by tayl1r 2015-12-14T16:52:00

Managed to beat the last level, was sort of hoping for a stats screen in the end (I probably destroyed 100's of cars lol)

Not sure what the red goals did, but I hit most of them. Good challenge

Get to the Points by recursor 2015-12-14T17:36:00

Awesome puzzle game! I found a little bug though :( http://puu.sh/lVmVc/e9245d13d6.png
The yellow blob at the bottom wouldnt split - I assume it only allows splitting exactly how the level is generated?

Anyways, had a ton of fun. Great sound effects and a killer background music!

After figuring out the game, the puzzles became quite trivial. This would have been 100x times more challenging if the beams could go over empty spaces - but I guess the level generator would have to be smarter as well!

Pete and the Beanstalk by SeriousCreeper 2015-12-14T16:59:00

Congrats, the game feels really good to play! Controls are crisp and the whole experience is really polished. One of my favorites so far! Difficulty curves nicely too.

Monster Munch by Leuthil 2015-12-16T16:38:00

The controls werent too hard on the keyboard either, took me 20 seconds to figure out. Cute and simple game!

CICP : the Center for Interplanetary Pest Control by Robber 2015-12-19T16:01:00

That was great fun, although spamming left or right could kill all the worms pretty quickly :P

Awesome soundtrack too!

Last-ditch Voyage by hobblygobbly 2015-12-19T12:12:00

This could be easily polished to a great game, the mechanics are solid. I found the game challenging enough, took a few tries to succeed. Great mood!

Radical Revolver Recoil Rampage by AndreasL 2015-12-18T17:09:00

Simple fun, kinda addicting too! Spamming left+right alternately seemed quite OP. Well done on music and sound, really liked them!

Need For Seed: Undergrowth by RhythmLynx 2015-12-14T18:51:00

Both audio and visuals in similar retro theme, nice! Took me a few tries to understand how the game works, a sense of success after getting a nice combo :)

No Space For Cows by concalf 2015-12-14T17:16:00

Simple and cute, I liked it! The game is really RNG heavy, and you are forced to lose due to all the running and meteors :( made it to lvl 11 though.

Binary Tree by pparke 2015-12-19T12:20:00

Phaser huh? We had a similar idea too!

It was a bit chaotic and couldn't really understand what the different configurations did. RIP headphones indeed

PWANET PWOTECTOR by cilerba 2015-12-16T21:41:00

Enjoyable game, solid controls! A little repetitive and RNG heavy for time trial, but a solid piece. Loved the art style!

Synergy Shakedown by danbolt 2015-12-19T12:25:00

Great, now my hand hurts from the mashing

Awesome intro! Cheering music! Freaky-colored retro graphics! Hooray for Phaser!

LD38 — A Small World

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-05-09T19:51:22Z

That was quite cute, I loved the ufo sounds!

Good job on the UI and accessibility, with the hovering over the airports etc. However the mechanics of clicking a small button to grab passengers was frustrating. Also I wasn't clear about the rules - would all passengers aboard get dumped at the arrival airport? I think that's how it works, but not sure. Also good work on the overall graphics, I liked the atmosphere glow you added there.

I got to 4th airport, not sure how much longer the game lasts. Good job!

A Perfectly Lovely Expedition by cerno-b 2017-05-07T20:56:09Z

That was really good! I thought at first the music would get repetitive, but oh boy when I went into the dark area and it changed :o

I didn't at first understand how the objects could be used to interact with stuff. For example, later after experimenting random keys, I found that you can dig underground. Perhaps the use action with the shovel could do that? I got the 5 shards last, and just went to the plane and fixed it.

Really loved the visual effects with the light!

A Small War by hadesfury 2017-05-07T19:55:50Z

Very nice game! It took me a minute to learn how it works, I'd suggest starting at a closer zoom level, at first I just spammed units without looking at what the enemy threw at me.

Chill Bill by drtizzle 2017-05-07T20:44:59Z

Quite polished entry! I didn't read the text in green about the vending machines so I thought I was winning when my rage meter went all the way to red. Huh, I guess I got the game all wrong at first :P

I also got almost sick from the camera - the player should always stay in the center (horizontally)! My playstyle included a lot of going left and right fast, so the way you made the camera show more area towards the player's current direction was a bit counter-productive.

Loved all the puns!

CHEM TRIALS by Hegemege 2017-05-08T21:11:53Z

@cerno-b Yeah the terrain + buildings and mountains are all generated. Unfortunately I didn't think of trying to avoid the mountains while generating the buildings so they can be quite close. The plane automatically tries to adjust its height, but if you go too fast it won't have time to climb up and you can hit the mountains.

Thanks everyone else for all the valuable feedback

Plutiny by peringo 2017-05-09T20:15:36Z

That was fun! Some notes:

- It felt a bit weird that the enemies' shots went through the asteroids, so you couldn't hide behind them. - When a new wave started, the enemies all shot immediately, even off-screen sometimes. Perhaps it would be better if they waited just a tiny bit more so the player could prepare, especially since there were all those asteroids coming - The music was fitting, and the whole game felt quite polished - The upgrades were nice, but I'm not sure there was really any real decision for the player - fire speed + more currency to spend were my obvious choices at first, and I had to deliberately die after I got bored with the current upgrades. I died a few times (2-3?) and there didn't seem to be a final end condition - but it would be a totally different game! The progression saved over play sessions is a concept that usually creates a dynamic experience. - You should add the currency counter into the game view! I wasn't sure how many coins I had while playing, so I kept going and going until I was bored and deliberately died. - The controls were very tight, good job!

MORE by beta 2017-05-09T19:20:03Z

I think the playtime was just right, any longer and I wouldn't have kept playing. I liked the ending too where the planets and the sun were just moving around. The mechanics are very simple however, and from what I could see there was no challenge (as in a lose condition). I guess it was more of an interactive story, quite humorous ;)

Oh yeah and the music was a nice touch, gave a zen feeling

Jumpy Green by markusfisch 2017-05-09T19:42:01Z

Yeah, the dominant strategy seems to just run in one direction and jump all the time. Making the background spin with the player is a bit risky, since the player can get motion sickness from that easily. At least the controls were really tight. Also the game could use a tutorial in-game, just a small text box at the start would suffice. Some sound would be nice, too.

M^3 (Moon Mining Manager) by KnightOwl 2017-05-07T20:37:03Z

I liked the world layout you had, zooming out and seeing ALL those resources!

Too bad the way the player controls the whole game is quite difficult, and it was really hard to turn a profit after I spent a ton of money on collectors, like 70 to refine and 73-something back. I like the concept, though. One could make a whole economy simulation out of this, where you need to haul cargo to home base, sell to other planets etc etc.

Invasion by mmKALLL 2017-05-07T21:04:02Z

I concur with the above comment, I couldn't find a reason to upgrade damage. Perhaps you planned for more enemies with different healths but couldn't get it all done for the compo DL?

WASD/arrows didnt work and I though I could move the player around, because there is an actual player character on the surface.

I liked the progression though, at first it was just a tiny bit too slow, but it picked up after that. Quite solid small game. I saw the good old missile control idea behind this :)

The Little World by JayTord 2017-05-07T20:08:16Z

Interesting clicker game. After every day I could swear the planet was moving faster and faster but wasn't sure :D

I noticed that the baobab all spawned at first stage, maybe some difficulty progression could be added with them spawning in later stages? I played for good 5 minutes and it didn't appear to happen, but I think there were more of them. Good job including a tutorial! The icon at topleft didn't respond to the selected tool, but I managed just with the cursor icon.

Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-01T19:25:24Z

I wasn't able to even jump on the first platform at first. I think your game physics is tied to the framerate (120hz monitor here), so I couldn't jump high enough. I managed to make it normal 60fps, but jumping on those small platforms was quite difficult. I liked how the controls were snappy and allowed the precise platforming that was required.

Soleil by JoyFired 2017-05-02T21:50:49Z

@joyfired make sure you use the Time.fixedDeltaTime when doing your calculations. If you multiply that with velocity, your velocity or acceleration values become rates of motion, like 100 units per second, instead of moving the player, say, 10 units every time FixedUpdate is called. I was able to reproduce what I described, it happens only on my 120hz monitor, not on the 60hz monitor. I hope this helps :)

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-09T19:35:16Z

Quite attractive game, all elements supporting the high-octane action. However, I feel the game felt a bit unpolished in some parts. - The player's death was not too spectacular. The "game over" image just stayed there, perhaps you could show the player's total points in large font + other stats? - I'd also prefer a "Play again" approach there, instead of taking to the menu, but the replay functionality is there. - Similarly, you could make the multiplier counter pop when you get a new multiplier. From my short play session, I didn't pay any attention to the top of the screen, perhaps due to font size.

I found it very difficult at first to control the ship in your game with the controller because of the acceleration of the input.

My game shares some things with this one, without the camera problems as discussed above (also the movement mechanics are different). Adding more smoothing to the camera's rotation could help, but the issue with player moving across is still there. Perhaps a better approach is to place the camera directly above the player, and making it always kinda face the same way? For example, see Super Stardust.

Rise of the Termites by Togis 2017-05-07T20:26:43Z

Overall quite amusing, at one point I really feared for the colony when all my soldiers died. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the level because the objective said 10 population and I had 5 workers and 6 soldiers :(

I found that I wasn't looking at the top right corner stats at all during the first half of gameplay. In the end no enemies spawned any more, and that's when I saw that oh, I need more storage space.

The mouse dragging was annoying (I didn't try to test keyboard controls), because the world didn't move pixel-per-pixel. I found it sometimes hard to control. Selecting units by clicking was also sometimes very difficult, and sometimes by unpressing the mouse button I opened a room menu accidentally.

Perhaps you could add a room destruction option, so players could re-allocate some rooms for better use? The music didn't really fit the game, but it's an autotracker :D Good work!

Hexoworld 9999 by Lugdumdare Team 2017-05-09T20:00:16Z

I think you should drop a lot more powerups at the start, I only managed to get 3 in total throughout my play session. As mentioned above, the movement speed is a bit slow and I feel bad for having no decision over most of the hits early in the game.

I also had problems with the music and other audio, it didn't play on my first go, and had to play again after coming back here. Good job on the visuals though! With some tweaks this could turn into a nice game. One idea I got was having a turret on the ground where the player could go into, and they would be able to shoot anywhere on that hemisphere, but not move while inside the turret.

World Collector by TomBishopSPG 2017-05-01T19:36:08Z

Really liked the mood, the music and visuals resembled some old SNES game :)

It got a bit too difficult too fast, and I found myself just waiting and waiting to orbit to the correct spot so I could place the building, the wall and the ice thing. Big plus for making it work so well with the controller! It took me a minute to remember I had my controller plugged in because the keyboard didn't work, so maybe allow both control schemes at the same time, or better, advertise that controller is supported at the start!

The start didn't have any tutorial (or did it?) but I think that was just fine, I picked up the idea quite fast. Good work!

Limited Space by Vidinu 2017-05-01T19:50:07Z

Really cool hybrid! I found myself completely in the zone trying to look at the timer and what resource I'd need. I was hoping destroying the asteroids would give some resources, you could definitely continue working on this and have some planets to stop by and trade resources and crew. On my first go I noticed that I somehow got a 4th crew member but couldn't say why... maybe a food surplus? I think it would be wise to convey these rules to the player, you had quite minimal guidance (but enough to understand how to play).

The music got a bit repetitive, but it really fit the game! There were some small bugs in moving the crew to the tiles, but I liked the concept a lot!

Quaternion War! by Nanofus 2017-05-01T19:58:41Z

Nice horde game with simple controls and mechanics. The start of the game felt a bit difficult compared to the rest, since the player was spawned right next to a lot of spawners from multiple directions. Unfortunately I fell down from the bridge and somehow got killed by falling into the void. With some powerups this could turn quite fast into a more complex bullet hell shoot-em-up.

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Gather the Darkness by Jeremy Wolf 2017-12-04T20:52:42Z

Very nice visuals, but unfortunately the crudeish sounds didn't work well with the visuals to create the pressing mood. The main dynamic of the game was interesting - perhaps the lights would slowly come back if you played more stealthily? On my first try I didn't understand the health bubbles either, I thought they were alarms! :)

Good controls and feedback!

Dodge X by cogcomp 2017-12-05T22:07:14Z

No FPS problems on GTX 1070.

Gameplay got quite boring fast, but the controls were responsive and the ship behaved nicely. The audio was quite loud and got a bit annoying after a while.

Voiid by Ace17 2017-12-06T19:41:03Z

Nice atmosphere! Tight, non-gliding controls for a 3D platformer, unfortunately there's something wrong with the physics on slopes and on some ledges. I had problems on chrome with the view resetting, but Firefox worked well. I couldn't get very far in the game due to somehow getting stuck mid-air on an invisible wall or something and getting frustrated :( So I can't really tell how it tied with the theme?

Dangle Copter by pkenney 2017-12-06T19:28:45Z

Solid controls and mechanics, but after the first few levels I kind of learned to avoid all collisions, and in the next one (4th?) the player has to go through the small gap with two cargo. The solution is to go further, and drop one off by intentionally colliding with the wall. Perhaps this type of puzzle gameplay could be improved and supported if the player was able to drop the "cargo" by the press of a button, and the game requires you to do so at the end of each level? I think this would make it easier to see that you just can't fit the chopper through the gap with 2 cargo.

Well done!

Perigee by zee 2017-12-06T22:14:27Z

Nice work on the planet, really dig that style! The controls feel a bit rusty but they get the job done - on my 1440p monitor the UI was very small, the cash amount is in the opposite corner from the build menu, and the bunnies block placing down buildings. In general placing them down was probably the hardest thing to do.

Progress felt really good, and just the sheer number of UFOs felt more threatening, maybe it was the red beam they had that made me feel that way.

This could be a great game if some quirks of the mechanics were sorted out and there was more depth. Good job!

... by exezin 2017-12-05T22:49:29Z

Awesome, a game I thought I'd never see, a bhopping hardcore puzzle(?) platformer with chickens :)

Controls felt a tad bit too unprecise - in aiming and when you try to stop. This game would definitely need some learning curve, though! I love the idea, lovely implementation and polish.

I really liked the death/respawn level animation, straight from a quality puzzler!

Hebe the ScOre Hunter by jamioflan 2017-12-05T22:34:35Z

Good mood and gameplay, I liked how the bots were sort of trying to create their own piles of stuff :)

Perhaps some of the upgrades should have been easier to get? It took me a bit while to get the speed boost. Also perhaps there should be more resouces, I spent a long time looking for some until I realised I could just snatch them from the bots' arms.

Very nice mood with the music.

ZhenCo Ghost Management by amras0000 2017-12-06T19:15:46Z

Good puzzle/level design, the learning curve was on-point. The whole UI layout was a bit weird, with the start button completely separate from the code area, although in-game UI worked well with the aesthetics. I think there should be a mention when you play the first level that the player has to type something, at first it all looked just like a static piece of instructions text, and it was very hard to spot the cursor.

HUDdled by Pox 2017-12-05T21:38:49Z

Bravo, I had a lot of fun playing this, and managed to win on the first try! Very nice graphics, everything tied together well! The only sort of problem was how much UI space all the different bars were taking, but I was still barely able to see the incoming enemies (which was probably intended). At first I thought it was a melee attack because I was unable to see the tiny, non-contrasted projectiles from the weapon. I liked how the player grew stronger, too.

Please, consider your players next time and lower the volume, it was deafeningly loud! I had to take off my headphones and I could still hear the music loud and clear. Or a mute/volume option?

Jingle Bells Defense by Kyrv19 2017-12-06T19:49:12Z

Nice entry, although the gameplay is a bit shallow and quite easy. I liked the snow-clearing mechanic, but it didn't seem to have any real effect on either the player or the snowmen? Perhaps the snow could make you slower, or make them more powerful? I played until around 1000 points and figured there'd be no more stuff happening. Maybe its more fun in coop mode :P

Really liked the visuals and the running animation. The shotgun sound got a bit loud at points, and it was a bit unclear how some enemies took multiple shots to kill (ofc larger enemies take more, but same sized snowmen took 1 or 2 hits). Menu looked nice :)

Barreus by bar0net 2017-12-05T21:10:41Z

Cool music and graphics, but I got somehow very annoyed at the very start - the game puts the player in a situation where he is forced to take damage, and I tried jumping but it was unresponsive, which killed the mood for me :(

The game would've felt better if I felt I was in control of the character, but it was always a hit or miss situation trying to jump over the spikes. The gameplay reminded me of some old NES/SNES-era sidescrolling shooters, especially the enemies and music combined. I'm afraid I wasn't able to experience your take on the theme (reading through the comments here) as well as I would've due to the control issues.

The rotating gun also reminded me of the old Flash-based shooters :)

Unstable Space by FunkyHippo 2017-12-04T20:21:11Z

Cool aesthetics with the particle effects! Moving around felt a bit weird and I just ended up staying still and rotating around, the game could use a bit more depth on that part (different enemy types, boss, more variance to weapon upgrades, more collectibles, give the player a reason to move away). Nice mood!

All-You-Can-Loot Cavern by Deatrathias 2017-12-04T20:33:55Z

Very interesting dynamics, although to make it more fair to the player, there should've been some sort of action bar to use items, and I would've wanted some permanent upgrades too to get a better feeling of progress. Well interpreted theme!

The sounds overlapped with the bomb and got very loud at times. Visuals were fitting, although perhaps the projectiles should have been in more contrasting colors from the ground.

Sorrow by Gnappuraz 2017-12-05T21:26:49Z

Very moody experience. I loved the mechanic or revealing the words from the letter, but wasn't able to finish the game due to control issues. The jumping was very unresponsive... The aesthetics were really nice, and it was good that there was more for the player to do while jumping, reading the words. I think the running speed got too fast too quick, and it then became just a random process whether I would finish the "level" or not.

Good job!

Worm It Up by Arthur Amorim 2017-12-05T21:49:02Z

Simple games are fun :) Very easy to control, nice fluidity.

Retro Rocket Run! by gwolf86 2017-12-04T20:43:15Z

Fun twist on the coins, but the game didn't have much feeling of progress. More variations to the repeating parts would've been nice! The invisible ship effect is just brutal :)

Good mood, fitting visuals and sounds. The coin sound was perfectly soft!

Blob Hell by ryuzaki_mrl 2017-12-06T19:33:00Z

Simple but fun. Good thing you included the dark background! Solid controls for this type of avoiding game.

BoatAfloat by StratosKakalis 2017-12-06T19:55:45Z

Simple and solid, good atmosphere and very nice controls and hit detection! The game didn't feel unfair at any point, and I was surprised I managed to squeeze through some of the gaps.

The treasure chest as an obstacle is a bit odd one, since usually players want to pick up all the treasures. It wasn't clear how the score was calculated either, and I for some reason got stuck at 60.

Well implemented dodging game!

Catch the bomb by Poroh 2017-12-04T21:31:03Z

Saw your post during the weekend and had to bookmark the idea of a roguelike minesweeper :P The game doesn't offer much for explanation of mechanics, really, and it took me a bit too long to understand how the numbering works, since normally the number represents the absolute mine number around. But in this case I guess it was just for potential mines, including any pickups...

I loved the mood and gameplay, usability-wise the Cancel button was not in the right place when you had to dismiss it every time. I think the start should be much easier, though, and the density of mines should increase later, this felt like expert density or higher. I liked the terrain objects too, but damn that dog was getting annoying after a bit!

The visuals reminded me a lot of Neo Scavenger, which is a good thing :)

Ice Cream Island by spaceturtle 2017-12-05T20:59:36Z

I liked the animation feel a lot! I wasn't sure on the first seagull what he was doing, but it came obvious quite soon :)

Cyber Instinct by CyberPunks 2017-12-06T22:02:19Z

Great high-quality graphics, but the in-game UI should definitely pop out more. If I understood it correctly, your health is the resources you use for building? Anyways, in a game where you have health, it should be conveyed very clearly - here it was the neon blue color that blended all too well into the other graphics.

The enemies seemed interesting, but there was something about the movement that made them odd. Perhaps the flying enemies got stuck too much and I had to go out and bait them, and the kamikaze enemies felt unfair and unavoidable due to the platform setup (not much space to jump and avoid them).

I think there was just way too much visual clutter from the start - adding a tower to a platform didn't suddenly make it a super-powerful thing visually, and they all just blended into the platform structures themselves. Enemies and projectiles were visually contrasted, that was good.

Sound effects became very monotonous quickly, and the enemies' laser attack sound was distorted and snappy, irritating even. The background music was really good though, fell right into place with the visual theme.

The builder's movement was weird, he glided along the platforms a lot, and the jetpack length felt too short. A few times I fell off the edge and tried to jetpack but couldn't.

I guess I had very high expectations of the gameplay after seeing the menu and the story screens, the mood of the game was built well together even though I skipped all the story text.

LD42 — Running out of space

POLYARNIK by icxon 2018-08-15T20:33:13Z

That was fun! Perfect feedback on controls, animations were just lovely and all the dynamics of kicking the boxes into penguins to fend them off was awesome. I liked how the difficulty clearly picked up after a few minutes of playing to allow the player to get a good grasp of the controls, without having to make them replay to complete the game. UI could have used some more work but other than it's a fun jam entry :)

Spatris by thebmxeur 2018-08-13T17:40:46Z

Nice concept, perhaps a bit too slow. I think you could make it go faster if you allowed press & hold for movement. At first I tried to dodge the pieces, but after nothing happened I had a great "oooh" moment :)

Good job, I liked the simplistic visuals and calm background music.

Huke by Hegemege 2018-08-13T17:30:10Z

@cobear25 I wanted the player to do some work to reach the door, even if it's just out of reach. My solution for that was for the player to try to get a swing into the door, but perhaps that mechanic gets boring. I'd really like to design more levels, I just had to go with version 1 on all of them pretty much. Thank you for the kind words!

@nick-rafalski 3 is a bit tricky, but there are two ways to do it. You can hang in the corner, and get just enough momentum by grappling the ceiling part that's towards the door. I'll have to record a walkthrough video :) You can also go on the left wall, and with momentum, grapple the back right wall to guide yourself into the door. It's tough, but the player will feel more accomplished when they manage a tricky movement I think. There's also the death sound so if you played without audio, that'd explain. Thanks for the feedback!

Huke by Hegemege 2018-08-13T17:43:04Z

@thought-reactor You can right click to release the grapple. I noticed too late that I didn't show this in the game at all, only in the description :(

Huke by Hegemege 2018-08-22T18:40:59Z

@phlip45 Thanks for the thought out comments! My original idea was to make the balls fill the room and the player having to avoid and escape, but then I noticed how much fun is in the swinging mechanic so I had to adapt to that. These short compos are not very lenient on level design, and I simply had no time to iterate on them unfortunately.

Running from ⭐⭐Space⭐⭐ by sobakaduka 2018-08-15T20:41:26Z

Very nice mechanics (I also made a sort of a grappling game, check it out :))

Perhaps there should have been some mention of the grapple in the intro text, cause it took me a while to understand the purpose of that right-hand weapon. I just ended up zooming to the end and not bothering to kill any of the enemies, which is cool that there are multiple ways to play the game.

W a l l i f o r n i c a t i o n by psychead 2018-08-13T17:51:46Z

Good puzzle, only gripe I had was that it was hard to tell when I'd get smashed from hitting a wall too hard. Consistent visual and audio style +1

AL - A Choose Your Own Adventure by starvingindie 2018-08-13T16:45:53Z

Fun adventure, really loved the visual style, especially the sink with slugs looked cool!

I only noticed the audio player at the top after getting one ending. It would be reaaaaally cool if some of the actions triggered some audio effects.

Disk Allocation: Typing Spectacular by electr1ca 2018-08-13T16:13:49Z

Yeah Ctrl+backspace would be so handy. Sometimes my enter press didn't work, so I took some extra damage :(

Really nice execution, I loved the sounds and graphics. UI was very simple, although it took me a while to understand how to use the scripts, because I thought I just do "1, enter"

Also remember to keep the compo v1.0 version available (+critical bugfixes), you can have an updated version in another link, but the original must be the one people play!

Disk Allocation: Typing Spectacular by electr1ca 2018-08-13T17:54:42Z

@electr1ca I think the line is a bit blurred, balance fixes that make the game more fun to play are not considered critical, unless major parts of the game are affected/blocked by it. Then again, your small changes are quite insignificant to the whole experience :) I think the game stands well even without them, they are sort of "quality of life" updates.

Quickshot Yellow: The Quest for Green Flags by Phlip45 2018-08-22T14:32:28Z

This would be much more fun if the controls were a bit more responsive, I had to constantly tap the ability keys multiple times to switch to them. Audio effects were in place so it was clear when the inputs worked though. Music track was catchy but not too annoying. Puzzles were a bit easy, not many ways to solve them, I had to think a few of the solutions in reverse

Quickshot Yellow: The Quest for Green Flags by Phlip45 2018-08-23T05:34:30Z

@phlip45 Yeah, sometimes when I tried to quickly swap between abilities, it wouldn't let me. Also, none of the controls worked on Chrome for me so I had to use Firefox. I'd guess switching to Phaser that manages the input for you would make it more robust, yeah. Good luck!

CLAMPRESSOR File Archiver by Deaymon 2018-08-13T16:31:30Z

Nice match-3! I don't fully agree with Shift for clamping, but it worked alright for the couple of minutes I managed to survive.

I played it almost like a rhythm game at times in the start. Good, tactile audio + animations!

Dodge and pray by mAnimal 2018-08-22T14:22:10Z

Well executed, visuals were simple but effective. Death effect was cool!

I had a bit of a problem with my main 144hz monitor - the blue thing following was faster than me. So I had to play on my other 60hz monitor.

Dodge and pray by mAnimal 2018-08-22T14:34:52Z

@manimal you'll have to move the code that moves the object into FixedUpdate from Update. This makes it so that higher refresh rates don't update too often. Also moving the object relative to Time.deltaTime (or Time.fixedDeltaTime for FixedUpdate) will make movement always constant across systems.

Drown Drown Revolution by Sibi 2018-08-15T20:04:59Z

Interesting twist on a rhythm game, I liked it. Graphics were nice, the background wasn't just static so it was quite nice to see some life there. I think it would be cool if there was some sound effect on hitting a key well, currently the only feedback is visual.

Export Corp. by r3c0d3r 2018-08-13T16:04:27Z

Nice entry, the game took a bit too long to get really challenging, and I just stopped at 1000 points. I think it would be nicer if the area was smaller and that you could rotate the pieces. Alternatively, each round could add 2x or 3x more danger tiles to make it more challenging faster.

Maybe I didn't read the tutorial right, but I didn't understand that each day there was a goal like 1x red, 2x green. I just exported everything each day and didn't understand what the idea was on my first try.

Cyber Janitor by Croosle 2018-08-15T20:21:46Z

Peaceful game, intuitive controls. Some feedback for destroying the boxes and placing down the large ones would be nice. The points counter at the top right was a bit invisible at first.

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-15T20:12:43Z

Cool idea, unfortunately I couldn't get past stage 2 because I couldn't move left :( Lots of potential, props for making a proper menu and settings and all.

Game design wise, I don't think there is much reason to ever not choose "Walk" so perhaps that could be a core ability.

Dataphobia by Shozou 2018-08-16T05:58:06Z

@shozou ah, that one I didn't try, I wasn't sure of its purpose. Gonna try it again later

FORK THIS!!! by J0ye 2018-08-13T17:11:33Z

Interesting idea, but the forklift just goes through walls like butter. Amusing but annoying :)

The space level was genius. I think it would be better if there was a sound/visual effect when you successfully place a box on the shelf, I placed a few and there was no feedback and the score didn't go up.

Garbage Collector by Jens 2018-08-13T17:25:02Z

I think the controls would work better with pick/drop on keyboard. Doing it with mouse just doesn't really add anything, and I found myself trying to click on the objects but they were too far away (there was no way to tell really)

I liked the mood, fitting music + visuals. I got a bit spooked by the alarm at first, I tried to pick it up :) (perhaps a bit too loud)

I didn't really see any progression in the game. It would be cool to have some way of managing the items like stacking multiple of the same item on top of each other or something. The ending was a bit crude too :D

stROLL by jerripo 2018-08-13T17:03:07Z

The ball seems to move faster if using a higher refresh rate monitor (144hz), so I had a lot of problems trying to control it to the goal. Managed through blue stage and then just gave up. The ball bounces a bit too randomly off tiny drawings, which are required to finish the game. Clever use of the theme, though. Death audio effect was way too loud, so I just had to mute the game unfortunately :( +1 for adding mute button too

Space Balls by Shafournee 2018-08-14T15:34:44Z

I found the Hi trees :)

Gameplay was quite solid platforming, the levels never felt unfair, but some were definitely too long (or others too short?). The controls felt a bit wonky - in the last level I jumped to the right at full speed and saw a meteor coming down so I tried to avoid it by naturally holding left - yet the character didn't decelerate fast enough. What I should have done to avoid collision was to only remove the D key, which would have made the character stop almost instantly as I learned prior in the game. Felt a bit weird

I liked how the different elements were introduced to the player at a good pace. The game would feel more polished with sound effects and maybe some particle effects when the player dies or when a meteor hits something.

Level design worked, graphics were cool (space whales!), background music was alright.

Feed Your Monster by bemmu 2020-04-22T15:23:29Z

Fun little game, movement was smooth and I got the hang of the game quite fast. Not too easy and not too difficult :)

Watchdog by mao 2020-04-21T16:59:24Z

Good and clear design, and also a story in an otherwise abstract puzzle, nice! The sounds were a bit loud, but music was great and fit the concept. The transition effect between sections was cool

Boomin' Zoomin' Lil' Lamb by Hegemege 2020-04-22T18:12:23Z

@petturtle Thanks for playing! Yeah the red color was something I played around with a bit, in the editor the it had a different impact than in the final game because of low/high resolution, and since my goal was to try to mix the two objects if they are far away with the dither effect, it wasn't as clear as I hoped.

@ponypen thanks for the kind words! The problem I had with testing different colors was that mixing two colors next to each other with dither looked really weird, sort of like those illusions with lines of colour

@hcursino flying high in the sky became a dominant strategy in my play-testing so I had to fix that in the last hours in balancing with what I had :D initially I wanted there to be airplanes for maximal effect but alas. The extra boost with space is available when you get a boost from an obstacle first, like an overloaded energy boost. Thank you for the feedback.

And everyone else who commented and played so far, thank you so much! I played this a bit yesterday and got 5700m, what's everyone's highscore?

pod by irwatts 2020-04-21T18:44:21Z

It was very hard to control at first, but I think I figured out a pattern to move forward, but veeeeeeery slowly. Then I yanked the controls to max and the physics exploded and the pod went flying to 512. Fun toy and great font and communication to the player! Really liked the phase diagrams

Tiny Fragments by Daniel Moreno 2020-04-20T23:47:24Z

Pleasant game, a very unique puzzler! There was a good mix of puzzles, some that required more timing or getting the character into a safe spot to plan for next steps. Didn't encounter any bugs, I loved the small animations between tiles! Nice UI animations too!

🐱 Cat Fun Factory by gamescodedogs 2020-04-21T17:49:58Z

I see you guys wanted the Automation theme to win :) I had a lot of fun with this, building roads was a bit clunky at first. Also I experienced some bugs that made the cats fly across the screen and they wouldn't spawn anymore if I stopped the simulation, having to start over again.

Anyways, good work for a simulation/tycoon game in such a short time, the UI looked great

Flock for Feast by Antti Haavikko 2020-04-25T12:03:41Z

Awesome, such a polished entry! The level generation made a few of them more difficult, but then it was more exciting to get a "good" level and try to get a good score on it. Very juicy audio effects and UI animations, I could definitely see this game take on multiple different formats too, like an infinite runner or more level-based puzzles or destruction etc. Great job on this!

For Ducks' Sake by GaryS 2020-04-22T18:49:14Z

Haha that was amazing! A lot of fun and the game had a good difficulty curve. Sound effects were spot on, I wasn't sure if the sound that plays when a duckling gets snatched is the duckling chirping or a mischievous laughter of the gnomes, but I really liked that one :)

Keep Meat Alive by Nitero 2020-04-21T16:33:45Z

Nice game! Really enjoyed the small guy climbing the structure and the animations/particles etc from moving around. Unfortunately the middle click didn't really work in WebGL so I couldn't build armor blocks but it was a lot of fun building and replacing!

Good progression too, it started out small and got chaotic. The game really needs some sort of tutorial, on my first try I didn't even know I could control the small blob (I read the controls after)

Good job :)

Hextayin' Alive by alareo 2020-04-22T18:42:50Z

Took a few rounds to understand the underlying strategy, but a fun experience nonetheless. The main menu looked really good! Perhaps a few scripted tutorial stages would help in the endless mode :) I didn't encounter any bugs, sound effects were clear and gave the game a good polished feel to it.

Monolithique by Jajakeim 2020-04-22T17:24:36Z

Sharp retro graphics and sound, great destruction animations! The game has a bit of a positive feedback loop in that it's very hard to recover if you don't manage to clear ships because you have to use the same weapon to clear the projectiles out of the air. Perhaps a super bomb or some other pick-ups would be fun for the player?

Soulbound by Fenderbate 2020-04-21T17:18:29Z

Nice small game, simple and tight controls! I clicked outside the playarea a few times and lost control of my character which usually led to a retry, but after learning that it was fun to play. Good audio effects and music, fit the graphics nicely

None left Behind by Pirhana 2020-04-21T17:58:48Z

Nice graphics and music (it was way too loud, though!)

At first I had trouble in the second area with the timer, because it seems to be tied to frame rate and with my 144hz monitor I couldn't finish the level, so I had to play on my other 60hz monitor. My bullets didn't seem to do any damage to the enemies, and only having one shot per picked up ammo was a bit tricky. The running animation was nice and moving around felt good.

None left Behind by Pirhana 2020-04-21T18:12:48Z

@pirhana Windows PC, played the WebGL version

None left Behind by Pirhana 2020-04-21T18:18:39Z

@pirhana To re-iterate the problem: the timer went too fast in the second area so I couldn't save all 4 in time

None left Behind by Pirhana 2020-04-21T18:32:34Z

@pirhana Yeah the same thing happens in the windows build, this happens sometimes in Unity jam games that haven't done proper Update/FixedUpdate distinction in logic, but Unity tricks don't apply here unfortunately. I also realised the enemy hitbox is at their feet so that's why my shots missed.

CRASH OR LIVE (HTML5 & Windows) by woody_builder 2020-04-22T19:18:02Z

Nice job with the graphics and audio! The jetpack and destructible limbs felt nice, sometimes the physics exploded though, haha! It was very hard to control and it was quite random how far I'd get. The UI looked very nice as well! Simple mechanics, maybe a bit more balancing to spawn fewer enemies at the start would be useful for players to learn how to play.

Prophet by marcell-balog 2020-04-21T20:42:02Z

I would've wanted to play it again but since it moves so slow I think this could definitely use some checkpoints. Lots of content and it seemed to be quite balanced up until the point I lost, I had gotten almost all upgrades. Picking up items was really weird and didn't seem to work most of the time so I just had to spam E and try from other directions. UI font was quite small so it took me a while to figure out what to do, but then the progression felt really awesome :) Good work

Lights Out by Shafournee 2020-04-21T16:08:32Z

Great atmosphere, unfortunately the game crashed right at the end and I didn't get to see the credits :(

I really liked how some sections of the wall changed textures subtly to tell bits of the story and the increasingly absurd elements in the levels, like the droplets at the start vs the end was nice. Most of the levels had good timings so I got the feeling of just getting away from the baddies. The water section though would need some improvement, at the start I waited too long and it felt intense up to the last section where you need to run left for a longer period of time and then the surface caught me.

Lovely audio, animations and graphics. Perhaps you could have played more with the shadows the candle casts? Maybe some invisible shapes on the walls that cast some spooky stuff on the blank sections of the walls or something, like a haunted house.

El Burritón by JakNak72 2020-04-21T16:45:53Z

I absolutely loved this, brought me a lot of joy :)

The game didn't need any explaining, great graphics and audio. Perhaps if each order had some sort of progress bar to indicate how close you are to finishing it, would help at the start. Also I didn't really understand why I had to keep the two fridges cool all the time, but all the other tasks were fun to do and they were varied. I got to 9 orders and then I just wanted to see what happens if you lose.

Awesome, thanks for making this

Body Guards by Hcursino 2020-04-22T17:17:25Z

That was a lot of fun to play, a good rogue-lite and progression felt good. Not many gacha mechanics in Ludum Dare, it was good variety!

The Cave by Gonzako 2020-04-22T19:11:41Z

Good mood, but the gameplay felt kinda barebones. The flickering light was a nice touch to the atmosphere. I'm not sure if there was an end? I got stuck at the bottom of a pit with a small cave to the left and I couldn't really do anything. I guess if the player is supposed to avoid getting down there, there should a restart prompt at the dead end. The framework is there, now you just need to add more gameplay to the world :)

FROGISLN.ELF by WittyCognomen 2020-04-22T18:54:54Z

Nice little game, very playstation 1 era graphics, liked the aestethics! The flower blooming looked beautiful and really kept me defending it, even though it was such a short experience. The tank controls on the green player was a bit odd and I ended up just staying in the center, but I took this more like an art experience :) Good work

Mr. Cheesy by SAVVU 2020-04-30T15:20:06Z

A lot of fun to play! I had a bit of trouble at the beginning to find all the important bits of information on the screen - I would move the powerup / trap icon somewhere next to the player or closer to the bottom right since that's where the player's eyes are going to always be. Really loved the background color changes, the game got faster just at the perfect rate, but subsequent plays are kinda slow at the start.

I think it's great the track pieces are preset and not absolutely random, to make the game more fair and the "skill" factor can be higher by learning the patterns. Changing the lane was sometimes a bit iffy around the holes, and I think I got the hit effect when just the tail-end (behind?) of the player was ever so slightly grazing the grater holes.

Music fits the game perfectly too, and I didn't notice anything odd in the sound effects which means they worked perfectly as well :) Nice and simple jam game!

SAVE THE DINOS! by marcusnystrand 2020-04-24T17:05:01Z

Small and simple, the only addition I would have made is an audio effect when your clicks are hitting the asteroids, and maybe some particle effects when they are destroyed. Otherwise audio was fine, really liked the font and simplistic design :)

The Rose by Luiz Otavio 2020-04-25T11:46:49Z

Interacting with the spells and the resources was a bit difficult and it took me a few tries to find out where exactly to stand to read the spells and cast them, but after that it was rather fun and even though I failed a few times there was enough time to check the new spell and save the flower, good job on that :) Perhaps some indicators of where to stand or just larger interactable area would have helped

The graphics look nice, congrats on your entry!

The Planetarian by Undead Aubergine 2020-04-22T18:02:08Z

Nice game, played it till the end but I didn't "get" the super secret :)

I had a bit of trouble at the start because the background is so light, my cursor was basically invisible and it was hard to find it all the time. I found stuff pretty easily but I must have spent 10 minutes looking for the antenna! At the start, too, I felt like I got lost from the start area so perhaps that could be shown in the minimap somehow?

Oh yeah and a great intro in the game!

The Planetarian by Undead Aubergine 2020-04-22T18:23:33Z

@undead-aubergine I read them all but the uhh... secret didn't work anymore (not to spoil anyone) :)
