W.R.L.D. (World Reconnaissance eLite Defense) by TerraCottaFrog 2017-05-10T12:39:13Z

Top 10!! BOOM! I'm amazing! :sunglasses: I so want to win...I will be playing again to try and creep up the leaderboard. Man I wish I had added an online leaderboard to my game. :disappointed:

This is a fantastic shooter - congratulations on a great entry!

W.R.L.D. (World Reconnaissance eLite Defense) by TerraCottaFrog 2017-05-12T00:19:33Z

9th!

Timeless by Chaseplays 2017-04-25T23:34:53Z

This is very impressive. I like the pixel art graphics and the music is very well suited (reminds me of classic Sega games). The complexity quickly ramps up and I must admit to getting stuck on this level:

Maybe I'm just being a bit slow?!?

Pllor by Josh Ayres 2017-05-04T13:07:52Z

Hi @josh-ayres, It's a shame - the only thing that really lets this down is the physics. Perhaps if you added a "Spring Joint" between the player and the sphere (which can be broken when the force is large enough) it would make it easier to move the ball(s) around. Sadly, every time I tried to push a ball somewhere, it would slide off me. You could also try using a box as the collision shape for the player instead of a capsule.

Perhaps if you have a chance to develop it further you could make this a fully playable game.

For others who might be interested in what the game looks like, here's a screenshot: Image4.jpg

Tub of War by quill18 2017-05-09T18:18:22Z

I love the sound effects!!!

This is a great idea - very well executed. Great humour and great graphics. High scores from me all round.

Toy Racer by Avon 2017-04-29T23:46:14Z

I played both the original and the updated version. The handling is much improved in the update and it's nice to be able to play it with a controller.

I must say - I'm very jealous that you managed to get an online leaderboard in there! I really wanted to have that but didn't know how to do it (especially within the time limit).

One thing I didn't try - if you fail the jump - do you land back on the track beneath and have to go round again? I was so desperate to get on the leaderboard that I wasn't willing to take the penalty to find out!

Toy Racer by Avon 2017-05-09T10:00:58Z

@avon - Thank you so much for that tutorial on creating online leaderboards! I wish I had known about it before the jam! Oh well - I know for next time!

Toy Racer by Avon 2017-05-09T12:23:05Z

I just realised that the scores I gave you have disappeared!?! In fact, the scores I gave out for the first few games I rated seem to have vanished!?

Solitary Freedom by CMLSC 2017-04-25T23:59:43Z

First thought - it's difficult to read the purple text on the dark blue background!

Second thought....AAAAAAAAAAHHH THAT SECOND LEVEL!!!!!! I've lost count of how many times I've tried to do it!!!!

The Treachery of Game Dev by ratking 2017-05-09T09:57:32Z

Wow. This isn't a game...it's an experience! It's like you created this entire world and then added a little something to fulfil the "Small World" theme (the "This is Not a Snake Clone"). I am so impressed with everything you have done here. Amazing work.

liftoff by Remco 2017-05-11T09:56:49Z

It's Elite! But smaller! :grinning:

This is a nice little trading game. I was a huge fan of DrugWars (or more specifically, it's clone: Dopewars) and with a little more development time, this could easily be turned into something as addictive as that!

If I had to be critical then I would say this:

* I didn't like the flying. It felt quite clunky to me and as others have mentioned the gravity didn't feel right. Even though you might have done it physically accurate - none of that matters if it doesn't feel good. * The sound effect when thrusting is a little too harsh * Everything is very small on my screen - is there a full screen option>?

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-04-25T11:02:32Z

When I started playing I thought "this is a bit slow to get going". Then, when the next airport opened and everything started to kick off...my stress levels started to rise. You know you're onto something good when I shout out loud: "STOP OPENING NEW AIRPORTS!".

Excellent work - well executed and a great idea. I look forward to reviewing it properly.

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-05-01T09:48:26Z

Rated! Good luck!

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-05-01T14:44:42Z

@jk5000 @takusan @aviv871 - is it just me or have your ratings dropped on the Feedback site too? Is it because we re-visited lots of games we had already commented on and just said "We've not rated your game"?

Space Travel 15 by jk5000 2017-05-17T09:15:13Z

I just stopped by to see how you are getting on (metrics wise). It seems we are on similar numbers.

'Space Travel 15' holds a special place for me in this competition because it's the first game I played and commented on and it's still one of my favourites. (I know we're not supposed to say what ratings we gave but I'll say this: I've only given out a total of eight "Five Star" ratings in the OVERALL category having played 178 games (so far) and if you were to go looking for them elsewhere then you'd only find seven of them. :grinning:)

Out of This Small World by bradur 2017-05-07T23:01:16Z

I like this. I didn't have a problem with the rotation but I can understand that some might. I didn't like the fact that after teleporting I lost all my inventory - it seems a little unfair that I had to find flippers again!? Perhaps it's like The Terminator and only living flesh can teleport? :grinning:

I like the music - it fits the game well. Nice work.

REDBOW by PixzleOne 2017-05-01T10:53:12Z

This reminds me of the great "Gauntlet" by Atari. Very impressive for such a short amount of time. You could definitely develop this further! Nice work.

Space Balls by Dejvo 2017-05-17T11:58:30Z

OK - I'm not sure if I am being a bit stupid but I don't get it! I don't feel like I have any control over the photon at all. I tried both the 32-bit and 64-bit version but neither WASD nor the arrow keys seem to give me much (if any) control.

I made a video...

https://www.dropbox.com/s/370wx0s8hybul4x/Space%20Balls%20Controls.wmv?dl=0

In this video I am holding down the UP arrow from the very start and it doesn't feel like I am affecting the photon's movement at all?!?

Am I just expecting too much control over it or is this a bug?

From an idea point-of-view I really like it!

Space Balls by Dejvo 2017-05-17T16:48:52Z

Thanks @dejvo for pointing me to your explanation. I have replied over there! :grinning:

Obelisk by Orcolom 2017-05-11T13:17:53Z

Ah @breno-m beat me to it! I was going to say that the style reminds me of Monument Valley too!

This is an excellent game with fantastic graphics and gameplay but, it's let down by just a couple of minor issues (that can be easily fixed):

* The movement controls - they don't feel natural to me at all. * The walking sound effects seem out of place

However, apart from these issues I think this is fantastic and my scores reflect that! Nice work!

Command Ant Conquer by JuDelCo 2017-05-01T23:33:58Z

I think the WebGL version is a little messed up - it seems to force at least 2 players? I downloaded the Windows version and was able to play solo and it's really rather hard!!! I lost my first game but by then I understood the mechanics of the game so I replayed. The problem I then faced was that the game went on for ages! With a little more balancing I think this could be a great game!

Hi @ilseroth Sadly it still shows as "offline". It says "Pending" briefly and then changes.

Star Traveller by SecondDimension 2017-05-19T15:58:37Z

This looks and sounds beautiful BUT I would not go so far as to say it's relaxing. It **was** relaxing until I got to the second "moons spinning around" puzzle. Obviously the first one was very easy - just click when the moons are in the right place...but the second one - only being able to slow them down...it drove me MAD!!!!! I actually gave up in the end...I couldn't get them to line up at all.

Apart from that - this is a great entry and, with a little more time for minor improvements, it could be truly excellent!

World Destroyer by Move127 2017-04-27T00:17:43Z

One thing that you definitely got right (in my opinion) is the difficulty level. It was just hard enough that I had to retry levels and get my timings right - but not too hard that I got annoyed. I didn't make it to the final level but I did see the unicorns! :grinning:

World Destroyer by Move127 2017-05-01T10:44:53Z

Ratings given!

Psycho Paul by Raphael 2017-04-30T23:25:13Z

There is definitely the beginning of something here. A likeness to Hitman has already been mentioned above - but I like the idea of being the P.I. whose job it is to follow a suspect and gather intel. Perhaps charging more to actually arrange an "accident". The game idea could be developed so that you get hired by someone who suspects their partner is cheating and wants them "disposed of" - but, if you follow the suspect you find out that they're actually planning a surprise for their partner - so it's a good idea not to go diving head first into a job!

Heli Rescue! by Pheonise 2017-04-28T11:25:43Z

Hi @pheonise! The link you provided doesn't seem to work for me but, by simply adding https at the start - it fixed the problem:

Heli Rescue! by Pheonise 2017-04-28T11:33:03Z

I think this is a fantastic game! I felt bad when I accidentally killed one of the soldiers! :)

My only "complaint" is how quickly the chopper drops without any input - it would be nice if there was more of a hover - but it might be that would make the game too easy!

Great stuff!

Heli Rescue! by Pheonise 2017-05-01T10:49:23Z

Just came back to give my ratings!

Where is mommy? by jQnas 2017-05-16T13:33:51Z

(I played the JAM version.)

I like the style of the game and I like the idea. However, as others have mentioned, the camera doesn't let you see some of the doors which is a little infuriating. I assume the little girl gets scared of the dark and that's why she runs back to her room. However, when I got to the room with the key and the unlit candle - I could only spend a few seconds in there before she would gasp and then run back. This became irritating and I didn't play any further. Instead I just watched your play-through. With a little play balancing and some tweaks to the camera this could be very good.

InDepth-VirusOutbreak by NoobDude 2017-05-07T22:38:41Z

Great idea for a game with a back-story to boot however, as others have mentioned there is a lack of feedback. I wasn't sure when I was dealing damage and when I was losing health. I managed to "purchase" the weapon (E) and the health (W) but I wasn't really sure if it made any difference? Perhaps you didn't manage to get that in there? I'm also not sure the music fits the mood of the game - it's perhaps a little too "relaxing" rather than "Mankind is doomed! We're all going to die if you don't solve this problem!" :grinning:

A Small World Cup by rujo 2017-05-18T13:55:05Z

This is great fun!...and very funny!

It's a shame there is no audio - it would have been great to just hear you screaming "GOOOOOOOOOAL!!!!" every now and then...but I am sure you cad add all that later!

There's really not much else to say, except...

EN-GU-LUND!...

World Deflect by Ieyfo 2017-05-07T16:24:15Z

Hi @Ieyfo, This is an interesting idea - using the "swing meter" as the primary mechanic - are you a fan of old-school golf games? :grinning:

Sadly, the User Interface lets this down - buying stuff in the shop while the action continues and having to trigger your purchased items from the same shop is a little clunky. I was doing fine until things other than asteroids started to show up. After that it all went a bit mental! Nevertheless, congratulations on completing your game in such a short amount of time.

Carefulzilla by glimaleite 2017-05-16T23:58:22Z

Damn it....I'm just going to sound like everyone else...but...oh well!

This is brilliant! There is something very satisfying about picking the feet up and then waiting for the right moment to put them back down. I really did feel like the most caring giant ever!

I am not sure why you opted out of "mood" because the combination of graphics, music, and game-play really DO set a mood and I would have scored you very highly on that!

Now I want to play it again and destroy EVERYTHING!

Carefulzilla by glimaleite 2017-05-17T00:00:03Z

...so I did! :grinning:

ATLANTIS by OccultOne 2017-05-08T11:50:33Z

I should preface my comments with the fact that I don't play these sorts of games at all so I feel a bit like an outsider. I was able to light the four towers but by the time I managed it I was tired of clicking through the same message about another tremor and then waiting for the camera to pan around the map a few times. If you could tighten up the flow a little or at least allow the player to skip through these sections then I think it would be more enjoyable.

Ludum Rock by StarshipTrooper 2017-05-15T14:27:45Z

Firstly - well done for making a VR game! Obviously it limits your target audience. I am lucky enough to have access to a Vive :grinning:

What you've created here is simple but very effective. After watching your video I found it all very intuitive. I haven't made it to the tree at the top yet...but I will be going back in to try!

CLOUDS by xk_the_name 2017-04-25T12:05:51Z

Superb! Excellent game with lovely atmosphere. I don't want to spoil the story elements so I will not mention them here but I love the style, the music fits perfectly, and the difficulty level was just right. In my opinion this could easily be developed into a complete game. I loved the simple touches like the change of angle (again I don't want to spoil anything here). I look forward to rating this.

"Apples are still irritating!" - yes they so are! :)

CLOUDS by xk_the_name 2017-05-01T09:53:22Z

Just came back to rate your game!

The Last Haven by Tommyno222 2017-05-12T00:01:18Z

When I saw the screenshots it reminded me of the classic "Rolling Thunder"! What you've created here is solid and it's just missing a few finishing touches to make it complete (easy to say when you no longer have a 48 hours deadline). What I would like to see...

* Don't let the camera move so quickly when the mouse goes from one side of the player to the other * Have on-screen indicators telling you where the enemies are (or maybe show more of the level) * Enemies not requiring quite so many hits to kill * Goal condition(s) * Longer music loop

You've created a very playable and fun game. Nice work!

Daylight by conrad123 2017-05-08T23:12:46Z

Sorry to say that I too became frustrated with this one. I got to here:

Image2.jpg

...and it was just too unforgiving for me. It was no longer fun - I felt like I was fighting with the controls rather than the challenge of the game.

It's a shame because I like the simple, colourful graphics and the music is subtle and effective. Maybe I'm just becoming too impatient!

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-04-27T00:07:53Z

This is either a sociopolitical observation of the increasingly materialistic, Orwellian world that we live in *or* it's about a duck that really wants to go on a tour. I can't quite decide which it is. Either way though I actually enjoyed it. It's different, it's fun, there's a clear aim. Well done!!

Starstruck Ducky by HuvaaKoodia 2017-05-01T10:44:20Z

You just got rated!...by me!

Daydreaming Island by camilo 2017-05-01T22:59:30Z

As others have said: you did a great job creating the atmosphere of loneliness. It took me a little while to get used to the interaction controls. The movement seemed unreliable. I would left-click somewhere and sometimes he would only walk half way there and stop.

I managed to make my way inside the lighthouse and after sleeping I was able to use the radio but I became frustrated when I felt like I had visited all the dots and the only thing left to try was sleeping again.

However, despite these minor niggles, with more time this could be a very absorbing story. It reminds me of a Mastertonic game I played on the Commodore 64 called Zzzz! I found that one frustrating too! Maybe I'm just not cut-out for this type of game!

Llama's World by fancy89 2017-05-15T10:26:04Z

Love the humour here - the art style and the audio is great! This is a great puzzler - if I had to criticise (and I do) then my one complaint is that the arrows that move the tiles seem to be the opposite of what I expected! I felt like the arrow should show the direction the row would move not the tile at the end...but that might just be me! Great entry!

Small Planet by Too 2017-05-07T16:53:50Z

Hi @Too, I'm not sure if I am fully understanding this one yet. Can I only have one generator? Do the towers have to be a certain distance from a generator? Can enemies just travel through barricades? I managed to add a lot of towers but they didn't seem to be very effective against the next wave. Can you add a little more information please?

Here's a screenshot for those interested in what it looks like:

Island Defender by MrChippy 2017-05-11T10:05:55Z

This is a solid, well executed game that has a great deal of potential. Like others before me - once my score was approaching 1,000 I seemed to be invincible so I stopped playing. However, the fact is I kept playing that long which means there is clearly something there! If you could develop this further and include levels - perhaps the first level is the one you have here with the same limitations but then, for each new level, the island gets slightly bigger and you can build more of everything?

Excellent work and I do hope you continue to develop it.

Low Orbit by quadtree 2017-05-09T09:32:00Z

This is a massive accomplishment considering the time constraints. As others have mentioned - the controls and handling could be improved somewhat but, overall, this is a great entry!

Paper traveller by dunin 2017-04-25T11:10:10Z

This is a great idea for a game. Is there a way I can reset a level? I have drawn stuff and made a mistake and I would like to clear and retry.

Paper traveller by dunin 2017-05-01T09:49:33Z

I've just rated your game. Good luck!

Vertical City by LiamLime 2017-04-26T11:31:07Z

I think this is very impressive! It took me a little while to get the hang of it but once I understood how to interact - I think what you've achieved in 48 hours is superb. Do you think you will develop it further?

Vertical City by LiamLime 2017-05-01T10:03:30Z

Just came back to give my ratings.

Flovala by larzan 2017-05-18T18:17:48Z

This is very atmospheric - the art is excellent and you chose a perfect piece of music to fit the game - in fact, the music reminds me of "Electroplankton" on the Nintendo DS. The game mechanic was simple and understandable - of course it would be nice to have some animation when getting bigger (but it's very easy to say that when I'm not under the time constraints of 72 hours!). I see that, on the end screen you say "To be continued" does this mean you plan on developing it further or is this just a case of: always leave your audience wanting m

Pixlets by MaggardJosh 2017-04-29T15:25:53Z

This definitely has a lot of potential. I played until I unlocked the green eggs so I don't know how much further you can go after that. You've definitely got the mechanics of a solid game here - it just needs a little more of a challenge. I can imagine it plays very well on Android too (I tested the Web version).

Nice work!

Pixlets by MaggardJosh 2017-05-09T12:24:19Z

Just had to give my ratings again - for some reason they had cleared???

Aircraft Carrier Simulator by superchihuahua 2017-05-07T23:16:34Z

Firstly I want to congratulate you on the graphics you created. That must have taken a pretty significant amount of time! I'm very impressed with the amount you achieved in 48 hours! As mentioned above there is a lack of depth to the game in its current form but there is certainly a solid basis for a resource management game. You could add the gameplay of "Flight Control" as well as managing refuelling and rearming the aircraft. I hope you continue to develop this further!

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-09T17:35:50Z

Pity About Earth... by mwcz 2017-05-09T18:06:03Z

Right...I've played it now!

Not surprisingly - I LOVE the music (full marks there). The humour is also excellent (I liked the message at the end about re-population). Game-play wise - I like how responsive the barrier is and I like the missile-command type rockets. Also - the drum sound when you successfully block the waves of asteroids is very satisfying.

If I HAD to criticise then the only thing I can come up with is: perhaps it's a little too simple?...but I love it!

See You Again by asyzruffz 2017-04-29T10:05:27Z

I like this! It's kind of like "Hide and Seek" except they hide in plain sight. The music is fitting and I love the generic speech when you interact with the other characters.

I have a couple of minor quibbles:

[1] When I interacted with one character, he teleported to a point the I could see - so he was easy to find! [2] I assume that people with colour blindness would have trouble playing this game. You might want to add a pattern to each colour so everyone can enjoy the game.

See You Again by asyzruffz 2017-05-01T10:50:03Z

Just came back to give my ratings.

SpiderSpider by atropos 2017-05-07T23:59:00Z

Like @szimano said - this is a nice idea with the world being the spider web. It would be great if you could develop this further and add more like:

* Ability to spin some more web and fix the holes * Spider graphics and animation * Fly graphics and animation

I did hear some sounds when I went into PLAY but, I also received the fatal error if I click on Audio.

Here's a screenshot from the game:

Small World Transport by devpaul 2017-05-12T15:56:54Z

Skillz!!!...

Image17.jpg

Ahhh the days of Jupiter Lander on the C64...how I simultaneously loved and hated thee! This is a solid entry and, with a little more development, could be great! Here's my always-present wish-list:

* Have the camera zoom out when moving to see more of the world * Have some more air-resistance - at the moment you can keep going "horizontally" a lot more than "vertically" * Sounds and music (of course) * Restart option

Excellent work!

Through the Core by majsmanne 2017-05-04T15:57:47Z

Firstly - I really like the artwork you've done here - and the fact that you've got an animated intro. is very impressive! It's a shame there's no sound as it would add a lot to the atmosphere. I don't quite understand the mechanics - after finding 2 of the items I found myself in the center of the planet and from there I was unable to go anywhere else. Please advise!

Asgard Invitational by zirconcode 2017-05-18T13:28:21Z

What a great idea! Pong but you can't touch the ball! I've never seen that before!

You've managed to get a lot done here - title screen, intro, player selection and the main game itself. The music is probably one of those "you either love it or hate it" types and sadly I'm not a fan - but you can't please everyone! I do like the samples when you select your player though "Mars kicks arse!" :grinning:

Overall this is a great entry! Well done!

In case anyone wants a little preview of what the game looks like, I took the liberty of grabbing a few screenshots:

Petri World by raincole 2017-05-09T09:44:47Z

Fantastic work with the particles and splines. This could definitely be developed into a playable puzzle game. I hope you take it further!

Factions by frenchie 2017-04-27T09:54:59Z

Wow! I love this game! Of all the games I have played so far, this is the most complete and polished. The art style is fantastic. The gameplay is simple and rewarding. The difficulty is perhaps just a touch too easy (I only had to retry about 3 times to get to the end). I LOVE the sounds - they remind me of a game called "Mega-lo-mania" on the Amiga.

As soon as we can rate games - you will be rated very highly by me!

(I watched your timelapse video and it's interesting - watching you work reminds me of how I work.)

Factions by frenchie 2017-05-01T10:47:57Z

@frenchie My pleasure! I just stopped by to give my ratings. Having played quite a few games so far - this is still one of my favourites!

Gello and the quest for RNG by Priweejt 2017-05-08T00:08:57Z

Killer Rabbit!!!! Excellent RPG. I must admit that I'm not someone who actually plays those sorts of games (never played Final Fantasy in my life) but I enjoyed this! I failed to beat the creature with sharp, pointy teeth but I will be going back to give it another go! Nice work - and a high "humour" score from me!

Koffer by pragmascript 2017-05-11T10:23:08Z

This is a fantastic tech-demo but I'm not sure it's a game? It looks amazing and I am assuming that the stepping nature of the graphics is to represent time-lapse? I know @pavel-kouril mentioned that you could interpolate to make it smooth but I am wondering if this was intentional?

Not sure if it's just me but I felt the camera controls were backwards. I'm used to working in Unity and this felt like the opposite to me!

As many have mentioned - some nice relaxing music would really have added to the atmosphere. Oh - and I love the idea of all this being in a suit case!

It's a Small World, So Let's Crash It into Things by simonhutchinson 2017-05-01T23:07:31Z

My daughter plays a lot of games like this so I appreciate how popular they are - @zeriver already mentioned Agar.io which is one of them. The game certainly fits the theme very well and, although simple, it's well executed. I feel like it's just lacking a little more challenge (perhaps the dark star needs to be more of a threat)? However, I am sure you can sort that out Post LD if you choose to update it!

Conveyor Madness by awerar 2017-05-04T09:23:26Z

@awerar - The first time I played, the game crashed at 23:59 on day 1. I tried again and it worked ok. When it crashed I added and then removed conveyors - so I tried that again - it seems that if you add and remove elements then it crashes at the end of day 1. I tried the same thing on Day 2 and it didn't crash.

I like the game idea - simple puzzle solving. With some polish and more levels this could be great!

Until Tomorrow by MSiddeek 2017-05-09T14:57:22Z

This is a superbly written, well polished, complete game. The graphics are excellent and I commend you on your grammar! The atmospheric audio is understated and effective - the swell at the end is particularly good.

There's not a great deal of game-play involved but given the time constraints that's not surprising. Out of curiosity - is this your own engine?

Apocalypse World Cup by Issac 2017-05-04T15:27:13Z

This is great fun! Having played lots of #IDARB on the XBoxOne - this reminds me a lot of that. Excellent graphics and sound, and most importantly: great fun! High marks from me!

Frog Terrarium by lonewookie 2017-05-07T16:16:03Z

Hi @lonewookie, I don't think you have provided all the files needed to run your game. It seems like one of the two downloads is a Mac version (despite being labelled as Windows) and the other is just the Unity launcher without the data required to play your game. Please build the game again (for Windows) and zip up the EXE and the data folder.

Ragdoll Wars by bwalter 2017-05-11T13:39:09Z

**T'is but a flesh wound!**

This makes me think of the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. The humour level in your game is off the charts!

I must admit to finding it difficult to feel like I was really controlling my character. It feels more like luck than skill. However, having said that, it's great fun and, ultimately, isn't that the most important thing??

A small world by sreal 2017-05-07T16:30:36Z

Can I just say - even though your game is unfinished...at least you included a "Press Escape To Exit" option! I'm surprised how many people have created games in Unity with no means of quitting from full-screen other than using the task manager!

Small World Sim by pyokoanarogue 2017-05-09T09:14:06Z

I will let this screenshot speak for itself:

Image3.jpg

Clearly I should be in charge of the entire world with such amazing balancing skills!

This is a great game! As the screenshot shows I have played it for a long time and perfected my governing skills. If I had to find fault with the game then my biggest complaint is the music. I don't think it quite fits the mood and it's too short a loop. However, that's a minor thing that could be easily fixed. Excellent work!

Small World Sim by pyokoanarogue 2017-05-12T00:04:21Z

I just stopped by because your game showed up in the results of this page: http://vatcss.info/ld38votes/ as only having 8 reviews for graphics. Sure enough, my score for graphics was not recorded. I have fixed that now!

Small World Sim by pyokoanarogue 2017-05-12T08:37:26Z

@pyokoanarogue - My pleasure!

Small Atomic World War by Kroute 2017-05-07T09:33:09Z

As already mentioned - the controls are a little unforgiving. I found it very difficult to pick up the protons and neutrons - and then I was spending so long trying to pick them up that I was getting shot repeatedly. One solution (which is what I did in my game) is to have the pick-ups attracted to the player when they are close enough. One other issue - due to the plain background, it's difficult to realise that you are moving sometimes (until the small mountain range is on screen). This made it much harder to hit my targets because I didn't realise we were both moving in the same direction. However, despite these little issues - this is a great idea and, with a little polish, could be great!

Pallas Station by btwj 2017-05-04T13:03:12Z

Hi @btwj, I really like this. It took me a couple of plays before I fully understood everything (for example - I didn't realise that you could have two things occupy the same square). It's a shame there is no audio as it could have added a little more atmosphere but despite that - I thoroughly enjoyed it! Hopefully you will continue to develop it? Excellent work!

Haven - The Small World by Iluvatar 2017-05-07T17:05:04Z

Wow. This is superb! I love that you have a similar (if not the same) font as used in the LucasArts adventure games. Not surprisingly the story is short (given the time constraints) but the game mechanics you have implemented here are excellent! High marks from me!

TARJECTORIES by csanyk 2017-05-16T23:14:08Z

Ha ha! Googly eye mode! :grinning:

@frankiesmileshow - nice score...but let me respond with THIS:

Image1.jpg

Suck it!

@csanyk - You've made a really fun game. I admit to being a fan of the genre (the first game I ever finished was a Tanks clone) but your added twist of the multiple planets adds a fresh spin (do you see what I did there?)

Excellent work!

Cell Wars by DevOrc 2017-05-04T09:13:35Z

@devorc - Sadly I am unable to play the game. When I run it, it loads and goes full screen but the mouse doesn't seem to be able to interact with the buttons. The mouse is also restricted to a rectangle smaller than the screen. I have tried different screen resolutions but the problem stays the same.

Binary Glitch by JOrbits 2017-05-08T09:14:08Z

This is a great game. I love the mechanics involved. As @chaseplays said it has the Snake feel to it combined with a strategic shooter. If I had to nit-pick then I would say:

* It would help if, when you start a new game, you were already moving (like Snake). I died the first time I played and had no idea why. Since you cannot stop anyway, it seems sensible to start with the player already moving. * Surely it can't be called Binary Glitch since they squares can be grey :grinning:

Excellent work!

Stunt Pilot by alobker 2017-05-17T00:07:12Z

Simple but effective - you've got a well defined challenge and a scoring system. If more time was available then an online leaderboard would have been great because, lets face it, I want to know if I'm the best!

Tiny Tony by Firewill 2017-04-26T09:22:25Z

Excellent game! As others have mentioned the gasp is a little over the top (not in keeping with the rest of the atmosphere) and the difficulty can be quite brutal (I must admit to not getting past the bridge section). However, you've certainly fulfilled the theme very well! Great stuff.

Tiny Tony by Firewill 2017-05-01T10:03:03Z

Just stopped by to give my ratings.

Planetary Defense by pixlark 2017-05-04T15:03:38Z

Nice game! I tried desperately to beat your score of 66 seconds but the best I could do was 55 :disappointed:

The controls are a little too fiddly as mentioned above - having to move to the bottom left corner to re-place a house seems unfair when right clicking would have worked.

However, apart from that - it's a solid game. Great work!

Beetle Ballistic by irwatts 2017-05-07T09:39:40Z

I must admit to being a little confused by this one! On my first play through I was getting to grips with the controls and then, despite feeling as though I was failing...this happened: Image2.jpg Obviously I am very glad that I won :grinning: but I really didn't realise I had - it felt like there were still lots of beetles needing to be destroyed! Perhaps the dead beetles were confusing me and I thought they were still alive? If you're able to develop this further I would recommend removing the dead beetles.

Polar Protector by AlexHoratio 2017-04-26T23:44:34Z

"My hometown is a tourist attraction!" - I like that!

Great game - once I re-read your instructions above and learned about the F key - it made more sense! Music and sound fit the game very well. Very enjoyable.

Colony Defender by MattHartley 2017-05-04T16:27:36Z

An open letter to all weapon manufacturers in the known (and unknown) galaxies:

Please, please, please do not limit the firing rate of your weaponry such that only one projectile can be fired and another cannot be fired until the previous has either been detonated or left the known space. We, the people of Earth, implore you: ALLOW US TO FIRE MORE THAN ONE SHOT AT A TIME!

:grinning:

This is a great little game. My favourite part is how the colony builds their houses while you continually defend them. However, how unlucky is this planet that SO many asteroids are on a collision course with it???

Great game, fantastic work!

The Minuscule Sphere by Inventivum Games 2017-05-08T07:49:41Z

Would I be correct in saying that my bullets are ineffective against the enemy? Everything I shot at, the bullets seemed to pass right through. The sound effects seemed to suggest that something was getting damaged but I am assuming that was my planet?

The interface is a little clunky - when clicking on the menu bar at the bottom, it still fires the weapon and it wasn't intuitive to me that right-clicking would build the selected. I also couldn't tell if the things that I had built were doing anything.

I do love RTS games and would love to see this developed further and made a little more accessible.

S P A C E C H U N K by nonameghost 2017-05-11T23:43:30Z

You've certainly created a fantastic look and feel to your entry. Sadly the playability doesn't quite live up to it. I followed the instructions you provide above but I wasn't able to harvest anything. I am guessing this is just an example of something that was incomplete. I would be very interested to see where this goes if you plan on developing it further as you've certainly got a proof-of-concept with regards to style!

Super Collapse Guy by crazi456 2017-04-27T09:02:14Z

This is superb - it's like Fez and "Paper Mario" had a baby...and then strapped a knife to its head. (Feel free to use that as an official quote.)

Very impressive that you managed to get this done in 72 hours (or less). As others have said - you should definitely continue with this and aim for a full, commercial release. I would buy it!

@JayTord How can you not like that cover?!? I think it's superb!

You Are World. by amras0000 2017-04-25T11:29:23Z

Wow! I love this. I have only played it once but I reached what I assume is the end "You were world".

As mentioned above - the music and atmosphere is excellent. In my opinion - there is the seed of a proper "God Game" here - I'm thinking of games like "Populous" but with your addition of "the elements" and expansion.

I look forward to reviewing this and I hope you are able to pursue it further.

You Are World. by amras0000 2017-05-01T09:50:27Z

Noizy by yves 2017-05-07T09:16:59Z

Firstly - the sound effects are excellent - they really fit the game perfectly. I also love the art style. If you are able to spend more time developing it then I would suggest having the white sections fade-in rather than pop-in as it's a bit sudden (but that's a minor thing). The scale of what you've achieved in such a short time is incredible! Excellent game.

Galaxy Glove by merlyboy 2017-05-16T00:21:47Z

I had fun with this one. Simple and cute - great humour! Nice work!

Walking Bear Demo by samh 2017-05-15T13:40:01Z

Are you able to provide an EXE or a video of what you did do? :disappointed:

Wee Planet by radmccool 2017-05-08T10:59:21Z

The graphics are great! I particularly like the feeling of the lightning going from the camera to the target. I was not a fan of only being able to fire at a valid target - that seems to make the game too easy. The penalty of missing would have added a much needed challenge.

As others have mentioned it's difficult to see the targets as they seem very dark against the almost black background - so it's a good job they leave a trail or show a tractor beam!

Overall a very solid entry. As others have mentioned, a little music would have been the icing on the cake!

Jelly Germ by Ethereal Psyche Games 2017-05-07T09:25:20Z

As mentioned above there are a few little issue with the controls (getting stuck to the floor, wall jumping, etc.) but this is a solid idea that reminds me of the colourful games on the Amiga (such as James Pond and Zool). The music loop is a little short and gets a bit repetitive but again - these are just minor niggles. Excellent work!

Shrinking Planet by Brackeys 2017-05-05T09:57:28Z

This is fantastic...and fantastically difficult! I actually have to avoid blinking as the distance gets to about 30....I still haven't managed to last much longer after that! As many have already said - the graphics are excellent and the uplifting music goes very well even if it does mask just how infuriatingly difficult it is!!! Excellent work.

RoboLand by slovakyan 2017-05-09T17:49:09Z

This looks superb but I am having a slight user-interface problem. How do I start the robot moving? It seems like it is a left-click to do it, but this tends to put down a new arrow and then he goes straight into the water!

Aside from that, this seems like a great game with lots of potential and could clearly be released commercially. Excellent work!

Newton's Cannon by xykvy 2017-05-11T23:48:46Z

As others have mentioned, there are lots of ways you could develop this further (different key controls, ability to shoot down the UFO, more UFOs, etc.) but the most important thing is that you've got something *worth* developing! I hope you continue to work on it!

Separation by triggthediscovery 2017-05-07T16:33:20Z

Hmmmm...is this unfinished? I was able to find 3 people and link them in the inventory. Is there anything else to do?

Small war by mnill 2017-05-04T16:00:45Z

Impressive that you've got a PvP game up and running in such a short time. Can you do more than just build or is that it at the moment?

rovR by morrilet 2017-05-17T09:04:18Z

This is surprisingly challenging! I love the gravity when the rovR skims near a baby planet - by shear luck I managed to complete a level using it which made me feel skillful!

The music fits the game very well and some of the sound effects remind me of the classic "Paradroid" which was a nice callback (even if not intentional).

Excellent work!

SatMap by snapman-gt 2017-05-07T23:42:20Z

Firstly - I can confirm that this runs perfectly on the Vive.

Secondly - wow! I love the method of moving around. I've never seen anything like that in VR before and it works brilliantly. My only (minor) complaint is that the marker can be a little hard to see sometimes - perhaps a slightly bigger graphic or perhaps a highlight to catch your eye would be great!

However, this is a solid game and it's getting high marks from me! Excellent work.

Ultra-ninja VS falling zombies by gaspard 2017-05-08T09:03:13Z

I realise this is going to make me sound very lazy...but is there any chance you could provide builds of the game? It looks great but given that there are 2,983 entries in LD38...I don't really want to have to build the games before I play them!??!

Small Life by pitr_ 2017-05-04T15:48:59Z

Hmmmmm...OK! So, 60 seconds to explore but the time starts ticking during the introduction text and you cannot move or skip it!?!

I think I found the Easter Egg but I will not spoil it here.

Did you have any plans on how you would develop this further into a game?

For those who are interested, here's a screen shot from "Small Life": Image5.jpg

Wake Up ! by GoZz 2017-05-18T18:33:15Z

Before I begin - let me start by saying - the more I like a game, the more critical I tend to be of it. With that in mind...

* I found it difficult to differentiate some of the things that I could stand on vs. some of the things that were background. For example - there was a black tree in the background which is slightly confusing. May I suggest only allowing the things you can climb on being black - it would make it easier to "read" the level without affecting the art style.

* The jump was my biggest problem. When trying to get the crate from the broken rope bridge, every time I tried to run and jump over the gap - I didn't jump. It seemed as though I had to jump before I started moving - and that felt off to me.

* There are a few little physics issues but I think you already know about all of these - the one I liked was: I climbed on top of the crate, held down E, started moving and the crate and I started moving together :)

Despite these niggles - I have to say, this is a fantastic game. It reminds me of "Limbo" and "Inside" but with the "switching universe" mechanic that always lends itself well to puzzles.

Fantastic work!

Sir Shrink-A-Lot by narve 2017-05-01T23:38:57Z

Oh my God this is MENTAL!!!! I find it really hard but the idea of it is great! Perhaps if it was a little easier (for old timers like me) then I would be able to get further. Great work!

Planetoid Escape by shockeye 2017-05-09T09:38:09Z

As already mentioned - the biggest issues are:

* Movement speed is too high - it's easy to overshoot a crystal and it becomes frustrating trying to pick them up. * A space-like sky box would have helped set the mood * A little audio would add to the experience - even just spot effects when you pick up crystals - created with sfxr.

However, despite these observations - this is a complete game with a clear goal and a time constraint! Well done!

It's a Small World by aviv871 2017-04-25T12:28:01Z

Before I play this...if there is music and the music sounds ANYTHING like *THAT* piece of music then please be advised that I will have no choice but to rate you badly. It's not my fault...it's simply International Law.

It's a Small World by aviv871 2017-04-25T12:42:30Z

Phew! Well...I'm relieved that the music sounds nothing like *THAT* piece of music (that, quite frankly I would be happy to never hear again).

I like this game. Great pixel art, simple but effective music, and the difficulty progresses well. I have not yet beaten the first QAWS level - I will need to play it some more - and that's a good sign!

I do wonder though...what if I had said "NO" to the hat??? I'll have to play it again to find out! You've certainly got the "replayability" factor!

It's a Small World by aviv871 2017-05-01T09:55:54Z

I feel like I am walking in @jk5000 's footsteps! Like him, I just came back to rate your game!

Lil Planet by BladeSides 2017-05-09T15:04:13Z

I feel like the donkey chasing the carrot...only I'm blue...and not-at-all-donkey-shaped, and it's not a carrot, it's a red...thing. Apart from that I think the analogy works really well.

This is an impressive HTML game! A restart would have been nice and the audio was quite harsh - not sure the music fits the mood but now I'm just nit-picking!

Well done.

House 0.1.0(top down shooter) by thelonelynug 2017-05-11T13:25:00Z

As others have mentioned there is an excellent Hotline Miami vibe to this game. I must be honest - the first time I played Hotline Miami I hated it - I wasn't ready for the insta-kill of the player. It wasn't until I went back to it later that I appreciated how good it is.

You've managed to capture that same feel of carnage with strategic thinking and I commend you on that. Here's a bullet list of points (because who doesn't love bullet lists):

* The default pistol doesn't seem to shoot straight * I wish I could shoot the glass and see and hear some nice glass breaking * I don't have any other points but two didn't seem like enough

Excellent work and kudos for making it in Flash!

Oh, and for those who are interested in what your game looks like...

Mail Calamity by LogFlames 2017-05-16T00:06:16Z

This is a great idea - it's kind of like a mash-up of "Paper-boy" and "Action Biker". My biggest complaint is: when reversing, the left and right don't behave like real-life.

Audio would add a lot to the atmosphere - one of the reasons the arcade version of Paper-boy was so good was the speech. If you had something like it would elevate the experience.

Am I right that I am only able to carry one letter at a time?

Here's what the game looks like:

Image2.jpg

Dung Beetle by Louspirit 2017-05-18T13:03:13Z

Very, very good! I played with a controller (for a better experience! :grinning:)

Not only have you got a great **looking** game here but a very well balanced one. The wind level took me about 7 or 8 attempts to complete but at no point was it a case of "that's not fair" - it was all on me. Me versus the dung! (How often do you get to say that???)

If you forced me to criticise then I would say: when I fell into the holes in the second level - it seemed to restart too quickly - I would have preferred to see my little beetle fall into the water before the restart - but of course this is a minor thing!

Excellent game! Well done!

Cellular Defense by Evannex 2017-04-25T11:50:05Z

WorldWiper by Shamzaa 2017-05-08T08:00:59Z

"Game Over. Your score: BUTTON" :grinning:

This is a very accomplished and complete game. There is a clear goal with clear rules and a nice touch with the "sides of the square" idea. My favourite part is when some of the enemies seem to be stuck and they look like they are shaking in fear! Not sure if it was a bug or intentional but it adds a little something.

There was one level where an enemy was inside a square that I could not possibly have gotten at but thankfully, because bullets pass through the blocks, it wasn't an issue.

Overall this is a very complete entry. Congratulations!

A Relatively Small World by Samusoidal 2017-05-09T15:14:17Z

Nice work on a DirectX game - is it your own engine? The art is excellent - I love the "scribbled" style. The music was good - not at all intrusive. However, the puzzles start quite harsh! Perhaps something a little easier for the first level would be good! I had to refer to your walkthrough to get anywhere.

Despite the difficulty, this is an accomplished game. Well done.

Durian of Time by sonicpixelation 2017-05-04T11:57:24Z

Hi @sonicpixelation. This is a neat little idea with a lot of potential. Perhaps it could be polished graphically and loads more levels could be added - but it's a solid entry and does exactly what you would expect. Nice work!

PixelWorld by Dom Harris 2017-05-05T13:44:09Z

This is a colourful, fun, mental game! I like it a lot.

With regards to the XBox controller - I was able to get it working by using the Input tab on the launch window - the "Right Vertical" entries just need to be changed to "Joystick 1 axis 4". After I did that I was able to play with the 360 controller and it was much easier and much more fun!

I did find a small issue - if you click the left mouse button during procedural generation, it seems to restart the generation and then things get confused - as if there are multiple levels in existence!

Goosing Traxler Park by Mike W 2017-05-08T07:30:06Z

Nice work on an amusing game! The sound effects are excellent! It's a shame you didn't have more time since the addition of collision boxes (so it feels like the background is more than just an image) and a little more challenge would have made a huge difference.

Here's a screenshot for other visitors: Image9.jpg

Gate Breaker by GrassWhopper 2017-05-05T13:16:31Z

Nice password! I probably should have guessed at that!

Granted it's a little easy but that could easily be fixed. You've certainly got the mechanics of a playable game. Am I right in thinking there is no audio? You might want to opt out of that category.

Statera by Kristian David 2017-05-07T17:18:14Z

This is a great idea with just a few minor issues (at the moment). Much like @sagarpatel25700, I survived just short of 150 seconds but then it was game over and I don't know why. I had about 2 rabbits and 2 rhinos so I'm guessing my rabbits got killed! It would have been nice to know that's what happened. The "Gane Over" screen doesn't display correctly in high resolution:

Image3.jpg

Despite these minor issues I think this is a great entry and I hope you plan on continuing development.

Fat Cats by PonchoGuy 2017-05-08T08:14:33Z

I played this solo but the other cats didn't do anything - is that right? I must admit that I don't like the movement. When you get close to the edge the responsiveness is terrible since the shape of the world makes steering very difficult. Perhaps it would have been better if the world was just flat?

Also - when the game was over, being forced to quit was annoying! It's like you don't want me to play it again!?!

Sunken Mystery by Shubham Gupta 2017-05-17T11:38:52Z

Wow - this is surprisingly difficult. I took a while to figure out the second screen and then I actually got stuck on the third. I am assuming I need to get the box through the first teleporter...but then how do I get through? It looks like I'm going to have to use my brain...damn it!

Excellent work! Very functional and with just a little more polish it could be released commercially.

The Time of Our Lives by tddawson 2017-05-07T23:20:02Z

For such a simple idea - this is actually quite difficult! Just like real life! I think this is a great idea for a game - reflecting how complicated social life (in all ages) can be. As you said - it's a shame you ran out of time for audio but despite that I think what you've accomplished here is excellent.

BUTERATOS by buteratosgames 2017-05-11T10:14:45Z

The graphics are great and the music is very good. It's a shame there are no sound effects when the player fires and the collision between the player's ammo and the enemies seems off. In its current form it seems to be lacking the "fun" element. it's certainly got the style but it's lacking the substance. Maybe you'll add that in LD39?

Newbie God by nuria-fl 2017-05-17T00:32:10Z

Loved it! Got all three endings (because I'm a "completionist" at heart)...unless you tell me there are more?? Are there more??

The audio has already been mentioned - some more "godly" sounds would have been nice - but I see you opted out of the audio so you're probably aware of that!

Nice work!

Holy Shit! A Spider !!! by Aurelien 2017-05-09T18:26:57Z

It's about time someone tried to redress the balance and present spiders as the victim!

Just thinking out loud: you could add more challenges such as: a glass could come down and trap you then, you have a tiny window of opportunity to escape when they try and slide a piece of card underneath the glass!

The voice samples were amusing too but I had to turn them down due to the proximity of children!

Excellent work.

Space Fling by Improx Games 2017-05-15T23:48:35Z

This is great fun! I would say that the controls are not quite there - it feels more like luck that judgement with regards to when-to-let-go...but I am sure that could be tweaked! Also, the UI could be improved a bit - I actually didn't realise the big "PLAY" was a button! However, the idea is sound and you've demonstrated the game-play. If you chose to continue development on this then I am sure it would make a great mobile game.

. by Kristoffer Semelka 2017-05-08T07:37:40Z

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that this is not a game but rather a demo. It takes me back to the days of classics such as "Jesus on E's" on the Amiga. If only you had some music like those demos it would have elevated this.

For others, here's a screenshot: Image11.jpg

by pyroclasticmayhem 2017-05-08T08:20:01Z

It's a shame there is no collision detection once you get to the shooting part. I guess you ran out of time? I like the music loop but some sound effects would have been nice when firing.

In the first part of the game - it would be useful if the prompt that appears to show that you can interact with something showed the key press (E) rather than a down arrow.

The Life Amoebic by Baby Dino Herd 2017-05-05T13:32:06Z

I must admit - it took me a very long time to understand how to absorb the food. I was almost at the point of giving up when it finally clicked.

This is a nice prototype that could be developed further into something with more of a challenge. Nice work!

Longest (and funniest) intro ever! I love the music - both the title screen chip-tune and the intro jazz. You have scored full marks for humour AND audio I can tell you that!

When I finally got to the game I must admit to being a little disappointed because I had built it up so much based on everything that came before. However, this is an accomplished game and I congratulate you all...(but especially your "sound guys")! :grinning:

No Minor Task: Party of a Lifetime by XAVIER_INDIE_GAMEDEV 2017-05-09T15:24:46Z

Apologies - double post, not intentional!

Colonized Panda by Pashok 2017-05-11T23:34:07Z

I became a deity!! I'm basically a god! I'm awesome!

Firstly, the music is indeed superb - perfectly fits the mood of the game. However, what's with the traffic sound effects?!? Not sure that fits the mood quite so well!

As others have already mentioned - it's a shame I had to wait so long between events. If there was more to see on the Panda then it might not be so bad. Overall this is very different from anything else I have played so far - well done for that!

Mr. Fishy's Small World by SheepTree 2017-04-25T23:07:24Z

Nice little game. I became very attached to "Fishi with an i" and am still not quite over losing him.

Graphics are very good although I must say that the way you've drawn Fishy McFishface is quite menacing and there should probably be some kind of warning in case any small children should see the game being played.

Mr. Fishy's Small World by SheepTree 2017-05-01T09:57:11Z

Rated as promised!

Retro Rabbit by wtoa 2017-05-18T13:38:30Z

This is truly excellent. I must admit that the music helps (I'm a big fan of that retro sound like Gunship).

The game is fun and challenging and it looks beautiful. I love the idea that the world is deflating - genius! When I first unlocked MUNCH MODE it brought a big smile to my face - proper 'Pac Man' vibes! I am not sure there is anything I can say that hasn't already been said!?!?

Amazing work!

Here's my high score:

Firstly - the files contained in the download would not work as they are. I had to rename the executable and the data folder. I don't think it liked the name having a semi-colon in. I renamed the data folder:

APPLICATION_Data

and the executable:

APPLICATION.exe

Then the game would start.

For those interested in what the game looks like, here's a screenshot:

I am curious - am I able to buy anything in the shop or is that not implemented yet?

Eine Kleine Insektmusik by davidthelazar 2017-05-08T10:54:34Z

A great game - simple idea, very well executed. I played both the initial release and the post-jam version. The post jam version is much harder which is a good thing. Fantastic work - high marks from me.

Murder Mitosis by _for_science 2017-05-17T00:25:16Z

This is a very polished entry with excellent graphics and the music fits very well. If I had to be critical...and lets be honest, I do...when the space was running out I didn't feel like there was anything I could do about it - I didn't feel like there was skill involved and that it was more luck as to whether I would win. Of course, it could just be me being a bit rubbish at the game!

Legends Of Block by sagarpatel25700 2017-05-09T17:58:13Z

That damn pond!!!

This is excellent. A great little, single-screen shooter. Also: nice work on having a fully functioning menu system in there too - I know from experience that UI stuff can really eat away at your time.

WorldDefCoop by jesusnoseq 2017-05-08T07:42:27Z

This is a nice idea and very impressive for less than 8 hours work! I like the bright, colourful graphics. There was a slightly annoying bug that on this screen:

Image12.jpg

No key press seems to allow you to play again - a restart is required.

Small World Smasher by howardcs 2017-05-01T23:58:52Z

Like @dagegen said - it's very frustrating when you keep getting colours that are no use to you BUT having said that, I agree with him that it's a solid game. Nice work.

The Deep by GertJohnny 2017-05-01T23:52:51Z

Wow.

Just wow.

This is truly excellent and, as others have said: incredibly well polished. I could have played it for hours but I really should play some other entries. This is, in my opinion, commercially viable in its current form. Remarkable work!

protect your garden by Jeremy Selwyn 2017-05-04T16:43:16Z

I was only able to play continuously for about 20 seconds and then it crashed. I am not entirely sure what my aim is...and the screen shake is very distracting.

What is this, an RTS for ants? by BlueSam3 2017-05-07T23:49:28Z

I'm a little unsure of if and how I can move the camera? I can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel but it seems to stay focused on the bottom left corner of the map. Can you add a little information about how to move the camera please?

Here's a couple of screenshots from the game: Image6.jpg

Colorfly by Zelos 2017-05-16T23:46:51Z

If ever people question "Are games art?" then firstly - they're idiots and secondly - they need to play things like this. This is not what I would call "a game" but rather "an experience". You have created a mood, a feeling, an atmosphere - and you've done it using colour and music. I would not classify this as "fun" per se - I'm not going to rush back to "play" it but the journey it took me on is undeniable.

Congratulations on a fine piece of art!

Monolith by samlo 2017-05-07T08:55:43Z

Absolutely fantastic game! I love the art style and the feeling of speed is excellent. The music fits really well. I couldn't really hear the sound effects over the music but I could tell they were there. Love that I can play with an Xbox controller - it made the responsiveness feel even better.

Will you continue to develop this and make a commercial release?

Small Wold Spin Ball by wallmasterr 2017-05-15T13:48:36Z

Ha ha! I love the commentary! You get full marks for humour! The music is great too!

The one thing I don't get is the "ball cam" - it interrupts the game flow.

However, despite that complaint - I really like this! Excellent work...and do I detect a Scottish accent there by any chance???? :grinning:

LD-38 SUPER SMALL WORLDS by elZach 2017-04-29T15:03:15Z

This is great! Very accomplished! Love the animation of the character. Nice, bright, colourful levels. The music is very fitting and I like the sound effect when you die - very suitable.

There is a small bug whereby you can sometimes jump past the finish line - in my opinion the trigger should enclose the entire finish line model...but that's a very minor point!

Excellent work!

Space Miner by houseforest 2017-05-04T09:32:07Z

Hi @houseforest, I really enjoyed this. It's like a modern take on "Manic Miner" or indeed "Pac Man" - simple premise: collect the items and don't get killed. Am I right in thinking there is currently no win condition? After I collected 250 items I started to get bored so headed into one of the tractor beams. I liked seeing my vehicle get sucked up to the space ship - a nice touch!

If you could extend this idea and turn it into a spherical version of Manic Miner - that could be a fantastic game! However, what you've got here is a solid start! Well done!

Influenza: The Game by longchamps 2017-04-25T11:40:39Z

"Not medically accurate" - you will be scoring highly in the "humour" category from me!

Influenza: The Game by longchamps 2017-05-01T09:51:22Z

I've just rated your game, as promised!

Planet Taxi by Marin0104 2017-05-04T11:12:49Z

This is a great idea - Crazy Taxi on a planet scale. However, I was unable to enjoy the game due to having no idea where I was meant to be going. It said "Tower" but there was no indication of where the tower is relative to me. Here's what I see: Image2.jpg After losing I started again and this time I was lucky enough to find my fare but then I had no idea where I was meant to be taking him. It's a shame as it could be quite fun - but, in my opinion, the handling and responsiveness needs to be improved.

Beware The Idiots by Gris 2017-05-11T14:14:07Z

Image1.jpg

Take that sperm!

Love the sound effects. This is good fun. Sure it could be polished a bit more - for example: it would be nice if the particle effects when the sperm explode came from something the same size as the sperm but this is just a minor complaint.

Nice work!

SheetAdventure by DMIT 2017-05-05T13:23:36Z

Hi @dmit - I've downloaded and read through the instructions. I'm still a little stuck though. I right clicked to create a path to get out of the first room - then I was attacked. I left click on the enemies to fight them. I hold down the left mouse button on the pencils to gather them (?) but how do I use the hammer? I'm not sure how to use the palette either. Can you provide some more instructions please?

Diminishing Lands by drazil100 2017-04-27T11:24:40Z

I enjoyed this one - it reminds me of "Bomb Jack" to a certain degree. Like @avant mentioned - I would have liked it if, when I jump off a wall, I was able to go higher - rather than return to the same height. It also took me a while to realise that he could only stay still on a wall if he was holding the ledge at the top. At first I thought that I had to hold the button down or something to grip the wall.

My other niggle with the game - I assume the transparent blocks show you what is coming next - but for me, they appear too early. Perhaps a delay before showing "what's next" - I found I was jumping to a location only to discover that those blocks were coming on the NEXT step.

Despite these minor criticisms, the graphics, sound and music are all very good and I will be rating this one highly. Nice work!

Diminishing Lands by drazil100 2017-05-01T10:48:55Z

Just rated. Like @pixzleone - I commented earlier. Good luck!

Theatre Throw-Down by Ratbag 2017-05-01T18:27:33Z

As mentioned above I occasionally seemed to get stuck moving in one direction - and after I successfully hit one bad guy I would freeze for a moment before I could attack another.

Spermicorn by Fanu 2017-05-15T10:20:58Z

This is very slick! You've certainly got a complete experience here - intro, outro, multiple game modes, great music that fits the game perfectly. The only criticism I can come up with is: perhaps the game is a little too easy/simple. However, what you've accomplished in the 72 hours is excellent!

The Sharkinator by Gizm05 2017-05-04T15:41:16Z

Sadly - I can't get this to run. I downloaded the EXE and the resources. When I run the EXE, a window appears but then quickly disappears. I have put the resources in the same folder as the EXE. I have also tried putting them in a sub-folder called "res" but that didn't help.

Please provide installation instructions or create an archive with the files ready to go. Thanks!

DPRK Defence Force by Cal 2017-05-08T08:46:43Z

This is excellent! I love the zooming in and out. The way the tank moves over the terrain is very satisfying (I remember trying to do something like that years ago and I failed!!!) The sound is excellent and the music is not too annoying. I love the added element of building turrets as the difficulty starts to ramp up. If I had to nit-pick then I would say:

* It would be nice if, when you zoom out, the world was centered in the middle of the screen so you can see equally in all directions. * When you bring up the build menu, it would be nice if, when you exit, the zoom didn't reset

Oh, and I love how the planet looks like an archery target - very apt!

A superb game!

Earthminator by Overlord1325 2017-05-04T12:19:06Z

Hi @Overlord1325. I like this one. I was concerned that the first level (Mercury) was too easy but the difficulty certainly steps up for Venus. The graphics are good but I didn't hear any audio - is that correct? There is also an issue with the UI - not sure it scales correctly with the screen: Image3.jpg Also - the controls above are incorrect, it should read: * W: Move Up * S: Move Down * Left Click: Shoot

A Small Twinstick...ish by OneMysteryMan 2017-05-01T23:17:53Z

The game actually reminds me of some classic C64 shooters (such as "Eagles" by Hewson) and I really want to love it...but there are a few little things that just stop me from loving it:

* Why can't I play with my 360 controller?? It would be so much better if I could play "A Small Twinstick...ish" with TWIN STICKS (I get why you added the "ish"!)

* The music loop drives me insane! Perhaps that is what you were going for?!?

Crater Creator by navot 2017-05-07T09:08:27Z

I have never seen the trajectory mechanic before of using colours to show where the paths will cross. I think that's genius! Top marks for innovation there! I also love the humour in the intro text ("4 years later" - classic!). This is a very original and innovative take on the theme. Like so many people above - I love it!

Goblin Assault by Syndelis 2017-05-08T23:23:30Z

Yikes! That was tough going!! On my first play I didn't realise that I had to gather the wood myself. On my second attempt I was able to build a small barricade around the crystal allowing me to complete the first wave. I managed to build two towers before the next wave but this seemed completely inadequate to protect the crystal.

I think you just need to lower the difficulty at the start before ramping it back up. Am I right in thinking there is no audio? You might want to opt out of that category.

Johi Farm by AVAVT 2017-04-26T23:56:34Z

I HATE GARDENING!...and this game demonstrates why - because it's an exercise in futility!

I can't really add more to what has been said above:

* Took me a while to realise I could interact with the seed * Tried to pull objects but could only push * Second stage was a little too hard

However, I think it's a great game that really fits the theme very well. Great work!

The Colour of Height by adam-gould 2017-05-04T10:02:33Z

@adam-gould Wow! This is a great game! Until I reached the first check-point I was really worried that I was going to have to restart at the beginning each time. However, after dying several times while getting used to the controls I found myself addicted to trying to get further. It has that "one more go" quality (like "Trials"). I love the bright colours and the music is excellent. Fantastic work!

Ctrl + S the World! by Fury 2017-05-04T09:38:14Z

@fury - First things first - GREAT name: "Ctrl+S the World!" - I can imagine that on a T-shirt!

However, I must admit to having absolutely no idea how to play this. I can move around using the arrow keys or WASD and I can turn my shield on by pressing the Space bar - but I don't seem to be able to get any "Saves". Perhaps I am just being a bit dim but could you provide some more instructions please?

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-04-25T14:04:58Z

Thank you @jk5000 - I should have added difficulty modes - perhaps Easy, Medium and Hard - I could have simply changed the rate at which the enemies fire.

Thanks @takusan - I'm glad you like it! If you have any questions about the source code then just let me know.

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-04-26T10:36:54Z

@avavt - Thanks for playing! Yes I should have kept the score on-screen during the GAME OVER screen - that was an oversight. I did have the ship moving slower at first but I wanted to ramp up the action...although that might have had something to do with the amount of caffeine in my system at the time!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-04-26T10:41:20Z

@huvaakoodia - Sorry to hear the performance drops for you. I think there are too many polygons in the enemy models (and too many materials) so it does hit performance.

I tried to tie the movement to the camera view (just like in 3rd person games) however, as you mentioned, it all goes wrong when you move downwards due to gimbal lock. I tried to fix it but was not happy with the result. If I had more time then I am sure I could have done better!

Thanks!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-04-29T14:55:55Z

@elzach - Thank you! I'm glad you like the music. I added the ability to turn the sound off so you can just listen to the music...of course you have to survive too!

I've realised that I could have avoided starting so many sounds if I had simply used a looping sound for the player firing rather than instantiating a new sound each time.

As for the camera - I really want to re-play Geometry Wars 3 and see how they handle it - I can't quite remember!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm off to play "Super Small Worlds" now!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-04-30T10:34:04Z

@davidthelazar - Thank you for you nice comments. Glad you like the visuals. As a programmer it's the one area I fear the most!

@richard-weug - Glad you like it! Thanks very much.

@coomzy - Well played sir! 200k is a great score! You were clearly picking up the multipliers!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-01T18:24:18Z

@devastus - Thanks for the feedback. Yes the two areas that let the game down are definitely the camera and the sound effects (when there are too many of them). I will definitely do an update that addresses these two issues but I thought I would wait until after the ratings so that the game is judged on what was created within the 48 hours.

@shodanon - Thank you very much! I'm glad you (and your wife) like it! Excellent score too! I really wish I had managed to add an online leaderboard in the time frame - it would have added a much needed "replayability" factor!

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-04T16:38:27Z

Thank you for playing and the positive feedback.

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-05T18:36:32Z

Thank you @yves, @grasswhopper, @jason-kennedy, @fury and @navot for the great feedback.

@navot - I agree the AI needs to be a little smarter than just to fire at your current location - I will add that to the "must do" for the next version.

Speaking of - what is the correct policy regarding updates? Should we wait until voting ends to update or can we update and share new versions? Does anyone know?

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-09T14:03:37Z

@kirenio Thanks for the feedback. Don't worry - you're not alone with your dislike of the camera. There are 3 things I wish I could change:

* The camera * The audio (when there are lots of enemies) * An online leaderboard to get people competing with each other!

Oh well....lesson learned for next time.

I will try and fix those three things though as soon as judging ends.

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-10T07:29:26Z

Hi @occultone,

Firstly - many thanks for playing! I am guessing that you don't have a 360 controller? In that case you will need to remap the controls in the launch window. The game is played using 2 sticks but your controller is mapping to different axes.

If you can't get that to work then I recommend disconnecting the controller and to play using the keys.

Yes, the "aliens" do indeed look like hotdogs...others say they look like a parrot...I can't repeat what my wife said they looked like originally (if you watch the time-lapse video you'll see that they changed shape)!

However, I answer your question with a question: if we were invaded by aliens, who's to say that they will NOT look like this??? Hmmmm???? :grinning:

You're welcome.

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-17T11:45:59Z

@gris, @vidinu, @pixlwalkr - thank you for playing and the feedback!

@rahtainka - Thanks - yeah the camera is the biggest problem and the controls (being relative to that camera) are a close second.

@joemid - Then count yourself lucky that I didn't add an instant restart because you might have been so caught up in the your enjoyment that you forget to eat, sleep or poop (or all of the above) and nobody wants that!

@shubham-gupta - Thank you! Yeah I wanted the teleporting effect to be even more dynamic but sadly I ran out of time!

@dejvo - Thanks for the feedback. You're absolutely right about the keyboard controls. I created a WebGL version which forced me to play using keys and it was nowhere near as enjoyable! For that reason I didn't release the web version. It's a shame that controllers are not more readily supported in Unity's WebGL player.

Globe Trot by Richard Michael Smith 2017-05-17T16:12:37Z

"The Dog Handler Show" is brilliant! I'm a huge fan of both Portal games so I was instantly "in the zone"! I have two questions though:

* What's a "Mini LD"? * Please tell me that the version I played wasn't what you created in the LD because it's HUGE!?!?

I will play all of your other games later on!

Despite my failure to get past level 2 - I really like this. It's a great idea, the graphics and sound are good and the mechanic of moving around the different sized planets fits the theme very well! Excellent work!

Destroyer Of Worlds by Dave Sullivan 2017-05-15T13:43:59Z

We made the same game! Except you don't have the same camera or audio problems as me! However, you do have a slight issue with the input getting reversed as the camera moves.

What I Like most about your game is the sound effect when the player fires - it's very satisfying!

Great minds think alike...and ours too!

The Underventure of Polin by manolo_rei 2017-05-19T16:12:50Z

This has an excellent "pick up and play" quality to it. As others have mentioned - a check-point system would be nice - when I died I didn't want to go back and do it all again! The graphics are great and the music fits well. I can imagine it would play very well on mobiles and tablets! Nice work.

A giant called Frederick. by Anudin 2017-05-07T22:50:47Z

Everything I am about to say is pretty much exactly what @jk5000 said. However, in case I manage to add anything new, I will go ahead and say it anyway...

* The art style is great * Some more animation would be nice * Although I was able to figure out movement and throwing very quickly, I had to lose twice before I figured out the main objective - a brief introduction would have helped. * The lack of audio is, as already mentioned above, a huge mistake. I'm a big believer that music and sound are absolutely key to a great game. It can instantly improve any experience because you are engaging the player via more of their senses. * I couldn't understand why my score got to 20 and then wouldn't change no matter what I did. Perhaps this is just a symptom of the game being unfinished? * Kudos for making a game with a socio-political message!

Despite any of my criticisms - this is a fine piece of work! Well done!

Gacu by p01ymorph 2017-05-05T13:53:29Z

The graphics are excellent but, as @psychead said, the collision boxes are unfair. I felt like I was avoiding the larger obstacles but I still collided with them.

I like the progression of zooming out as the ball gets bigger and would love to see that continue to the point where you're consuming buildings....and then mountains...and finally the planet! I see you're making a political statement there too!

With a few minor adjustments and some more audio this could definitely be commercially released on mobiles.

Arrows in Orbit by Stoemason 2017-05-01T22:41:27Z

**--/Attempt at humour--**

Love the opening crawl!

I don't know if you're too young to remember this but your game reminds me of "Rambo" on the C64...and I loved that game! I think you've made a great game here and I look forward to rating it.

Ahhh developing on the Amiga - that takes me back. I actually started like that too. I used AMOS (but never managed to get anything finished) and then I upgraded to "AMOS Pro" where I made a game called "AmTank". I was very proud of it - my first finished game. It was made available via AmiNet.

No way! You mean someone actually played my game!??! Yeah it was a 2 player tanks clone. Someone actually uploaded a video to YouTube of it - if you just search for "AmTank Amiga" then it comes up.

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-04-25T15:16:13Z

Oh how I miss my A500! Playing the games on the emulators just isn't the same...Speedball 2, Batman The Movie, Super Cars 2, Lotus Esprit, Monkey Island, Syndicate, Lemmings, Cannon Fodder, Stunt Car Racer, IK+, anything by Cinemaware, the list of great games is phenomenal!

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-05-01T09:56:48Z

This is getting ridiculous now...everywhere I go, @jk5000 has already been there. I feel like I'm stalking him. Anyway - as promised, I just came back to rate you!

@joemid - you maniac!

Slightly Angry Max by Takusan 2017-05-18T00:28:42Z

@takusan - Not yet. I am waiting for the competition to be over and then I will go back and fix the problems. I did try and create a WebGL version but I had no idea that controller support was so limited for it...and playing Globe Trot with keys just isn't the same!

Simple platformer with color changing mechanic by kr1stoffer 2017-05-04T12:43:00Z

Hi @kr1stoffer, I quite like this one. Sadly however, I cannot get past level 4. Is it possible to make that jump??? Also - is there any audio? I didn't hear any. Perhaps it would be worthwhile opting out of that category? Overall I think this has a lot of potential. Do you think you will continue to develop it?

Lazy Arses & Goblins by DigitalQR 2017-05-07T16:43:30Z

This is very impressive for 48 hours work. It's a shame there is no audio (you might want to opt-out of the audio category). There are a few issues with the UI but nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little polish. Overall I think this is a decent entry - nice work!

For anyone curious as to what the game looks like, here's a screenshot: Image1.jpg

Monster Meetup by Szymon 2017-05-15T23:52:48Z

Ha ha! That was a little surreal! I started the game...I headed to my rendez-vous with t'other monster and it said "You win!!" I'm not sure the difficulty level is quite right but hey-ho! I like the idea of the clumsy monster and how he moves "around" where you are headed. With a little more development time and a little more of a game-play challenge I think this could be fun!

Afterbirth by xxDOOMbox 2017-04-26T09:12:33Z

Great game! However, my wife informs me that childbirth is nothing like that - but what does she know, she's not a doctor!

Love the sound effects (particularly of the possibly-not-medically-accurate birth) and the animation (as mentioned above) is great. Nice work!

Afterbirth by xxDOOMbox 2017-05-01T10:02:22Z

As promised, just came back to give my ratings. Spoiler Alert: You scored very highly in humour!

Chordata! - The Planet Exploring Game by Josh_VDB 2017-05-04T12:33:22Z

Ha! Well that was over quickly!!! :grinning:

I read the instructions, turned my torch off and on, then I walked past my ship into a pyramid and there were some cogs...which I clicked on...and that was that! So I played it again and the cogs were in the same place! It's such a shame - if you'd only had time to add some randomisation so the cogs could be in a different location each time - it would have made a huge improvement. Also - the footstep sounds for the Standard Asset first person controller are possibly the most annoying sounds in the world (IMHO)! I thoroughly recommend avoiding using those sounds!

However, you've created a 3D world with terrain, objects and lighting and there is some atmospheric music in there too. Sadly, the gameplay and sound effects let it down.

Glade in the Sky by AdroitConceptions 2017-04-25T23:51:47Z

Nice little game - when I finally made it back to my Glade I must admit that I didn't realise that I had finished - perhaps an end screen would help? However, the game mechanic is all good and working. Reminds me a little of Kororinpa (but without the rolling - obviously!). Nice work!

Just came back to give my ratings.

SmallWorld Online by freezerburnvinny 2017-05-04T16:36:26Z

This is very good. So far I've only achieved one of the endings (death) but I will play to uncover the others. The idea is a very good one and it's very well implemented. Kudos to you (and your wife)!

Tiny Safe Planet by ScaredStorm 2017-05-04T13:12:47Z

Hi @ScaredStorm, This is a cute little game that, with a little more development could be really enjoyable. Sadly - the rate of fire and the fact that the aliens can spawn almost on top of the house makes it impossible to really defend. However, the basic mechanics are there and with a little more time it could be really fun. I didn't hear any audio so you might want to opt out of that category.

Classical Conditioning Cooperation - [CCC] by AwesomeAlliterationAlliance 2017-05-16T09:28:41Z

Like someone above - I found the font a little difficult to read. Apart from that this is a great entry. The graphics are excellent and I like the music - it wasn't too repetitive for me. There is a definite Lemmings vibe to this and I think with a little more polish of the gameplay (for example - when I accidentally went back into a pipe, I had to wait for my mouse to get out the other end before I could turn around) and more levels - you could release this commercially.

Run the World! by Monty 2017-05-17T00:16:54Z

Firstly - huge respect for doing this in less than 72 hours. Like you I have always wanted to try and make one of these games (although my greatest influence would be "Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge" on the Amiga).

There are some issues with the game-play at the moment - the biggest for me was not being able to judge where the other cars were on the road as I was going round bends - so I was just hitting them over and over again.

If you could fix these little issues and add sound then this would be a wonderful homage to Out Run! Excellent work.

Survival Game by Anubhav Kashyap 2017-05-18T13:14:50Z

Firstly - congratulations on your first Ludum Dare - this was my first one too!

Now, down to the ever-present critique:

* The controls - I found them very strange. I kept wanting to move using the usual WASD controls and forgetting that I was only able to walk towards and away from the mouse. * I couldn't understand why I was only able to build one wooden wall. After much clicking and pressing, I came back here to find that I needed more wood - so that makes sense now. Of course, with more time, I am sure you would have been able to include some sort of indication that more wood was needed. * Pretty much anything else I could say comes down to a lack of time - the most obvious being audio. I'm a strong believer that music and sound is every bit as important as graphics in any game, just like in movies. Just like the choice of art style creates a mood, so too does music.

Anyway...enough of me waffling on. Congratulations on a very accomplished entry!

Virus by Novosi 2017-05-15T23:55:32Z

Hi @Novosi, I'm not sure if there is a bug or I am not understanding how to play correctly. As the virus approaches the heart I head out to stop it but it seems like the game is over as soon as I leave the heart. Is that correct?

Ant Clicker - Ready for your reviews!!! by AndyNice 2017-05-10T11:29:57Z

Wow! Absolutely stunning looking and sounding game! I cannot believe how much time I just played it for...

Image9.jpg

You have definitely got something here - if you can add some more challenges to it and balance the stats then this could be a commercial release without question! **Amazing work!**

Ant Clicker - Ready for your reviews!!! by AndyNice 2017-05-10T12:17:32Z

@alexandr-rum - no worries at all! What you have created here in such a short amount of time is nothing short of stunning! Well done to the both of you.

Quantum Catburetor by jushiip 2017-04-30T18:05:37Z

This is a great idea but, like @drazil100, I found myself annoyed by some mechanics of the game. Once I lost some health it always seemed to be a downward spiral after that - the view shrinks which makes it more likely I'm going to hit something...and I do...and then the view shrinks some more...and so on.

I thought I had experienced a crash but I think what happened was - I died, I wanted to restart but I was pressing down on the controller and I chose Quit instead.

Salem's Small Worlds by SaLeM 2017-05-04T10:10:24Z

Hi @SaLeM - I think there is a small issue with the game. I played (and died) a few times and then found myself on a purple planet (like the one in your second screenshot). However, nothing happened - I just kept going round and round without being attacked.

When I first started I couldn't seem to jump over the fences - but, while spending time on the purple planet I discovered that I could multi-jump. I restarted the game and then I understood what the "Jump x3" meant! I was now able to clear the fences - although this time I was on the football pitch planet.

However, the same thing happened - after several deaths, I appear on a new planet and don't get attacked.

This is my spot by k8n 2017-05-16T09:18:54Z

Great little game - simple but effective. Who doesn't want to be a fish and kick people?

On my third play I finally kicked everyone else off the "small world" but then, in a cruel twist of fate, I fell off. :disappointed:

Limited Space by Vidinu 2017-05-12T11:37:00Z

It took me a while to figure out what I was meant to be doing. On the first play-through I actually thought the green squares were power-ups so I was flying close to them thinking I was powering up my ship or similar. It wasn't until I noticed the message in the bottom left of the screen that I discovered I should land on these "Small Worlds" (I see what you did there).

Overall this is a nice idea and well polished given the time constraints. Of course there are a few minor issues such as:

* When dragging an astronaut to a location - I always seemed to end up putting him in the square above the one I actually wanted! * A little tutorial text on the title-screen would be nice

Nice work!

MiniRacer by AyyAmThe1 2017-05-16T00:17:37Z

This is a nice idea but the physics don't quite allow it to shine in its current form. When I try to reverse, the left and right do not behave like real-life. If you could add a more realistic driving model and get the handling really satisfying then I think it would make a huge difference.

Bounceball by DusteD 2017-04-25T12:22:03Z

I'm going to assume that I may have found a way of cheating?!? I'm running a 4K screen here and I was able to survive 3 minutes and 21 seconds...I suspect my screen resolution might have had something to do with it? Here's a screen shot:

So You Want To Build A Snowman. - (A finished game for all ages) by Alex Hart 2017-05-17T17:26:13Z

I WANT A BANANA FOR A NOSE. Why can't I have a banana for a nose? What kind of an oversight is that? If you're going to let me build a snowman then why, oh why, can't I have a banana for a nose?

:grinning:

To answer the question in the title of the game...my answer is simple:

Yes. But only if I can have a banana for a nose. If I can't then then answer is absolutely NOT because building a snowman without a banana for a nose is ludicrous.

Nice work on this - it plays well and does exactly what you would expect...except for one GLARINGLY OBVIOUS MISTAKE....you can probably guess where I'm going can't you...I'll give you a hint - it involves a nose and a banana.

Runed Bones by Tung Nguyen 2017-05-04T11:45:17Z

Hi @tung-nguyen, Sadly I wasn't able to play with anyone so I played alone. I'm not quite sure if being alone means I can't do anything? I tried attacking the three creatures but they never seemed to die - nor did they ever take any of my health away. Everything seemed quite dark and there are some places I couldn't see them at all. Also, I didn't hear any audio - is that correct?

FUEL by KCreanor 2017-05-18T11:42:09Z

This is a great idea and the graphics are excellent. If I had to criticise...and I do...then I would say this:

* The first level is difficult because there are no reference points. When you are hunting for the last fuel you can't even tell if you are moving and that's infuriating. * The camera is the biggest problem (and I know all about this because it's the biggest problem in my game - however yours is nowhere near as bad as mine). On level 4 I would just hit a corner not because I had the mouse in the wrong position but because the camera would rotate. I felt like I would die not because of my own failings but the camera's - and that's a big no-no in game design...or so I'm told :grinning: * The music doesn't really fit the game and the loop is too short.

It's very easy to be negative about anything (especially in this day-and-age) but I want to end with the positives: what you've made in under 48 hours is remarkable and, with just a little more polish this is something you could release commercially.

Cosmic Cleaner by Burgee 2017-05-17T08:54:48Z

Does it make me a bad person that I find it very amusing when I whack my asteroid straight into the first planet...and then, it almost feels like wherever I put the asteroid I seem to hit the same planet! :grinning:

This is an excellent and well polished game. The only criticism I have is that the first level seems harder than the second - if you were to swap them over then I think it would be beneficial because the player will have tasted success easily and they will want more! Of course - it's easy saying that now - it's very different when you've spent 48/72 hours on something!

Tremendous work!

A Mote in the Dark by Kirenio 2017-05-09T09:25:14Z

Firstly - you have forced me to learn a new word! I had never heard of a "mote" before (so I Googled it). That's edutainment for you!

Secondly - I think I need a little more explanation. I was able to feed the first mote and keep it alive, I then triggered 4 other motes but eventually they all died and soon enough there were no more white discs to click on and it was game over. Can you explain the strategy I should be using?

What´s the point? by roccdcazbah 2017-05-19T16:06:21Z

OK...well...that was dark! I straight-up just murdered a priest.

On the one hand, making games is art and, therefore, nothing should be off limits. However, I didn't choose to commit homicide - so it was more like watching a movie or reading a comic book than "playing" a game. If you want to make headlines - this is one way to do it! I can imagine there would be a lot of people that would be offended. Luckily...I'm not one of them.

Amoebros by Spinaljack 2017-04-29T10:21:20Z

This is certainly one of the most original games I have played so far. Once I understood what was going on I really enjoyed it. A few minor quibbles:

[1] I like the blur effect but it would be nicer if, after zooming out, the focus changes so that everything becomes clear again. [2] The music fits the game well but it could do with being a longer loop

I love the Space Invaders! :grinning:

Den by La mecanique du plastique 2017-05-16T09:13:36Z

This is one of the first games I played, yet somehow I completely forgot to rate or comment!?!? I'm glad I came back before the voting ended!

This is a beautiful game and I like the different play mechanics you got in there. It looks and sounds wonderful - creating a fantastic atmosphere. You could easily expand this into a full game. It reminds me a little of Badland crossed with Inside - two games that you can be very proud to be rubbing shoulders with!

Superb work!

Rock Hammer by Airman4 2017-05-16T23:28:40Z

My biggest complaint is the lack of sound - otherwise this is a well polished, fully playable entry. It's a simple idea but it's challenging and well-defined. I knew what I was meant to do after my first play through and then I just had to beat my high score. I can imagine this is very effective on mobile. As I said at the outset - it's just such a shame that there is no audio - it would have added to the atmosphere - (I'm a great believer in the importance of sound and music).

Nice work!

tiny'Pocalypse by Alex Williams 2017-04-25T23:25:25Z

I also liked the graphics although it took me a little while to get used to how far away I had to be in order to attack the enemies without getting hurt.

My idea of A Small World by swrni 2017-05-04T09:49:02Z

@swrni - I LOVE this game! I think it's fantastic. Such a simple idea but it's executed brilliantly. The fact that you spawn the pick-ups near the edge of the play area where it's most dangerous. The teleportation, the power-ups, the countdown, it's absolutely brilliant!

I really wanted to beat your high score but I didn't manage it! After many attempts, the best I could do was: Image1.jpg Once again, I think this is fantastic and I hope more people will play it and rate it like I have! Congratulations!

Earth defender by Justashadow 2017-05-04T10:15:29Z

Hi @Justashadow, this is a nice idea and, with some more development time, could be really fun. Perhaps the biggest problem is not having an indicator when the planet is being attacked from a different angle. Either allowing the player to see more or some sort of "threat indicator" would add to the enjoyment.

Is there any audio? I didn't hear any. If not, it might be worthwhile opting out of the Audio ratings.

Tumblin' down by Shodanon 2017-04-25T23:23:33Z

There are some good ideas here. I like the idea of sacrificing units to appease the gods (although, as mentioned above, it would help if there was a little more instruction in the game). The controls are a little clumsy - I found that I had to draw a box with the mouse to de-select the current units. I wasn't sure if I had selected a barracks before creating a new unit.

However, as a prototype, it feels as though there is something there - definitely worth pursuing.

Nails hard! Absolutely infuriatingly hard! Truly...keyboard smashing...rage inducing...screaming obscenities hard.

So well done with that!

I believe that art should cause you to experience an emotion. This game is therefore art. The emotion?...Homicide. Which is not really an emotion but seriously...right now...you don't want to argue with me!

Small Planets by Tom Raudys 2017-05-05T11:18:58Z

This is very impressive. I didn't have any problems running on my system. Like @lurumdurum I didn't understand how to get the upgrades until I accidentally landed on a planet (with flowers) but I don't know if I actually got the upgrade or not - I couldn't tell any difference when I was back in the ship.

The graphics, animation and sound are all excellent. Like @geared-games said - it's incredible how much you guys achieved in such a small amount of time! Amazing work!

Destructo Island by morbidcamel101 2017-05-08T08:59:15Z

This is a great achievement considering the time constraints but it's let down by some minor annoyances.

* Please, please, please remove the default Unity footstep sound. I really wish they would get rid of that sound effect as it's the most annoying footstep sound ever recorded. * You have not disabled the "Shift to run" key so when you press Left Shift, as well as zooming, you start running. * The rocket seems to fire in a straight line making it no better than the default fire. If it was heat-seeking or laser guided then it would seem more useful. At the moment it seems no better than the primary fire. * The sky box just stops at the horizon which would be fine if you didn't start above the world and able to see it so clearly. It's the first thing you see after all.

Despite my gripes (I'm old so I'm allowed to complain) this is a fantastic achievement in such a short amount of time.

My Other World by Formona 2017-05-16T22:59:50Z

I'll be honest - I didn't quite get what I was meant to be doing in the 3rd part. I ended up having to pick words at random until I won. However, in contrast to that - the first puzzle worked really well - just clicking on the most positive words - I liked that. It's actually a shame then that part 2 was so "simple" in comparison - just clicking to return the balls.

The graphics are excellent and the music is good (although it's a shame there are no sound effects). Great work!
