An interesting idea for a game, but my target never seemed to arrive. Was still fun killing random civilians :)

marco 2017-04-25 12:13

@cartographer Just found that that the randomization of the NPC's and also the target you have to kill didn't work properly in the builded version. We fixed it and uploaded a patch

huvaakoodia 2017-04-26 21:01

The idea of blending in with the plebs to assassinate a target is a functional one, just look at Hitman, but here it doesn't quite work, for a few reasons.

There are too many similar looking people and the protagonist is holding the picture covering most of the target. Both of these were very confusing in the beginning.

Not enough ways to eliminate the target. The store is full of all sorts of items, why not allow throwing or dropping them on people, using bananas to make them slip, radios to distract them, expensive items to lure them to an alley, there are lots of possibilities. Allow me to demonstrate: :anger::angry: + :knife::hammer::gun::bomb::radio::syringe::scissors::fire: = :scream:

Eh, you probably just didn't have time for any of that, right? Running around being Psycho Paul was more entertaining than it has any right to be so... Here's hoping for an extended version.

fylipp 2017-04-27 06:14

@huvaakoodia You are right! We envisioned a game with a variation of killing methods as well as a large game world. However, time constraints and some unexpected difficulties here and there caused us to drop a lot of them. We are interested in developing the game further and hope to incorporate more mechanics in terms of target elimination.

Thanks for your feedback!

An alright game. I wasn't sure what the connection was between gathering objects and punching people. I wasn't sure what the goal was... Was I supposed to kill that stinking jerk who cheated on my wife? I killed a bunch of dudes in tall hats, and I didn't win, which probably demonstrates the futility of revenge killing.. I suppose. And in that sense, as a thematic story, it might have served its purpose.

raphael 2017-04-29 12:56

@jamgrrl If you could go into a bit more detail as to how to improve it, that would be much appreciated.

richard-michael-smith 2017-04-30 23:25

There is definitely the beginning of something here. A likeness to Hitman has already been mentioned above - but I like the idea of being the P.I. whose job it is to follow a suspect and gather intel. Perhaps charging more to actually arrange an "accident". The game idea could be developed so that you get hired by someone who suspects their partner is cheating and wants them "disposed of" - but, if you follow the suspect you find out that they're actually planning a surprise for their partner - so it's a good idea not to go diving head first into a job!

Thanks for the great suggestions @richard-micheal-smith

I played this on Livestream Today: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGr9VAOjIQs

I really enjoyed this, I had a few suggestions in the video... but a very solid core product with a lot of potential to go places. The allusions to Hitman in the comments are not unfounded, you did a great job with it.

porcus-pie 2017-05-02 07:41

I enjoyed the game, although it took me forever to find my target, maybe the picture needs to be slightly clearer. Other than that the graphics looked great and it played well, I had fun, although a bit of audio would be nice.

tommyflower 2017-05-02 09:21

I think this game is a great starting point for an epic game! I really liked the sunny environment and the variety of objects and rooms. It was nice exploring. My enemy didn't show up, but I read that is a known resolved bug. I'm waiting to see an updated version of this, will definitely play again! Just add some music and fx and you are good to go!

(two small things: I agree on the confusing photograph he is holding. there so much going on that I wouldn't mind helping the player showing his enemy face more clearly, as for moving items: it wasn't clear if this action gives you some advantage in the game). Overall great job!

bunnery 2017-05-02 09:53

Such a fun game - although I agree the beginning is confusing and the photo could be clearer! Once you get the hang of it though it's quite absorbing. Like the different ways of killing - finding stealth is best :-) As a girl though - maybe you could have an option for husband/partner at the beginning? Would like to see the full version soon!

breadmower 2017-05-02 09:56

I like the concept - reminds me a bit of Assassin's Creed multiplayer or The Ship. The photograph could be a bit clearer (though it makes sense that it's not the best picture - taken from a distance by the investigator), and I feel like there's not enough pressure to blend in (perhaps have a shorter time limit for tasks, so you're forced to focus on them and keep an eye out for your target whilst you do them). Definitely shows potential, though :-)

raphael 2017-05-03 06:28

Thanks for playing our game @procus-pie

The picking up of objects was intended to be used to complete the 'store clerk tasks', like delivering a certain item to the dumpster. The enemy not spawning bug should also already be fixed in the newest version, if the bug still persists please leave another comment. I'm glad you still had fun playing. @tommyflower

Yes adding female characters, as well as choosing whether the player is male or female, is definitely something we'll do @bunnery

Yes in the end the balancing of the timers ended up a bit to generous. When we first implemented it, it was way to hard and almost impossible. After we tweaked it, it became a bit to easy. Thanks for your suggestions @breadmower

Very well executed, but I felt the gameplay was a little disjointed, and the game didn't tell a decent narrative. The physics worked very well, and the game, for what it was, functioned extremely well for a jam! I'd love to see what you could do in a post jam version ^^

Nice art game man

simple-blue 2017-05-05 03:48

Great job on the game, very in depth with the different itemed tasks as well as trying to discover the man. I feel like the man your wife is cheating on with shouldn't be described as lucky. Also maybe make the door to the storage bins as little more noticeable to do the tasks. Great work, I had a lot of fun!

bemmu 2017-05-12 03:03

Fun game reminding me of "The Ship" which I used to really enjoy.

teammonumental 2017-05-12 21:06

Really interesting idea for a game, and funny too. I like the implementation of the random tasks and objects generated in the scene. I was never able to beat it, and it could have used some music, but nice game overall!

Really neat game! I included it in my Ludum Dare 38 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xNjIIPVrvYI
