Graphics- Tiling, otherwise beautiful. Loved the character Loved the fossils. Great movement mechanics. Needs a little gamification, but very satisfying to play.

Okay real talk, are you actually 12?! If this is a solo project, and you're 12 years old, you've got some incredible talent. You show a head for game design that people twice your age don't have. I felt the music was engaging and lead well to the mood. I actually felt the game's zoom was fine, it just shows up small before you full-screen it. I am deeply envious of your talent- even done in Construct 3, this still shows an excellent hand at design and aesthetics. Keep it up- I'll be watching for your next submission.
I'm not exaggerating- you'd do well to consider a career in indie game dev. You've got a great head for it.
Oh woah, lots of comments haha.
It was a fun little project, and I had a blast playing it, but it's not something I'm drawn to play again. Some kind of shakeup in the gameplay would really put it over the edge. But for a compo, this is something to be extremely proud of. The art and sound were both clever uses of minimal aesthetics.
Yeah, everything I'd say has been said above- the pixel art and music are phenomenal, but I couldn't get past the first four enemies.
Hey, good on you for putting it together! Congrats! It's always a challenge :) I will say the map felt a little too directionless, and there were a lot of red herrings where I thought a door should go somewhere, but it didn't. Also, you might consider slowing down the encounter rate on the spider floor- the combination of a huge, sprawling map and constant spider interruptions with no variation was a bit of a bother- still, I had fun playing it! Thanks for putting it together.
Really fun art and puzzle design! I felt a little lost for a clue, even after applying some common escape room tactics, but other people seemed to get it haha. Still, really fun play. I will say the music's a little loud.
Absolute blast to play! Beautiful art, and your sound design was mostly spot on- the first blaring sound when you start is a bit jarring though. The only other feedback is that sometimes you can mine crystals, sometimes you can't- It's a little confusing which is which. One of the most fun I've tried so far though!
Fun game- I enjoyed the music a lot!
I had some graphical problems I think, but the movement mechanic was really fun! The music was pretty painfully loud- definitely have a look at that. Over all, it was really fun to play! Thanks!
The text and ui were difficult to read, and I didn't understand the basic gameplay at first, but once I got in to it, I was hooked. Sadly I don't have the brain power for this right now, but man, what a brilliant execution! I was surprised at being disappointed I'm not up to the puzzles just yet, but I'll give it another play when I'm more "here"
Fun game, great pressure mechanic. It was a little hard to get used to the controls at first, but a stellar title over all! I think the cracks could have been better pronounced, some of the mechanics felt a little difficult to read.
Absolutely stellar game. I kinda wish you had to put things back together, but this was really fun! Also, it's possible to soft lock if you toss the bill or card off the table haha
Good head for design and iteration here- the turn angle was a fun idea. Simple thought for an improvement- have a difficulty selector that slows your enemies down for an easier, more thoughtful play- otherwise really well done! The simple aesthetic was a lot of fun ^^
Damn, valiant entry! The reloading UI is a little buggy- I thought it hadn't reloaded, but it just hadn't updated the ui until after I shot. Over all, a cohesive aesthetic and a solid play! Well done!
Well done! This is a well executed bullet hell with a good head for progression. The aesthetic is a little unpolished, but entertaining and whimsical :) One critical comment- I'd recommend just having fire always on, or maybe toggleable, or have it cost something to shoot- having to hold down the attack button the whole time was a little awkward. Otherwise, a great entry :)
I adored this! Best of luck next time, and I'd love for you to try my entry. ^^
So I loved the idea, and you really delivered an interesting game in the time period, well done! That being said, your sound effects were quite literally painfully loud- please be aware of your players' needs when designing your game. The only other comment I have is that the close follow camera made me a little seasick. Loved the minimalist aesthetic, and I definitely think you're on to something here. Can't wait to see more!
Calling this a loop I don't think really fits for the theme. I kinda got what you were going for with the mechanics, but being thrown out of the game entirely for failing was... a little rough, and antithetical to "loop". It's a great effort for three days, and I loved the assembly of your assets, but I wish it had a little more meat on the bones. I'd love to see what you'd do with more time!
One of my favorite games so far! Your mechanics are amazing, and I loved the aesthetic. One comment- your sounds have some technical failures when the game ends that are really painful. Also, if you're not putting a volume knob, dial down the volume to half of whatever you had it set to. Otherwise, absolutely and absurdly fun- please keep going on this!
I really liked the atmosphere and sound of your game. I don't know how the loop theme played in to this, and... okay, I really felt like you were trying really hard to be profound and "meta". The story didn't really deliver on what the characters were trying to sell me on. I think if you wanted this creepy meta vibe to work, it's more about hiding the real message. The characters in the house just come out and deliver the message- there's no wondering, no mystery. I think if you spent some time analyzing some horror and meta material, you could deliver a very compelling experience. Over all, I think you're on the right path, and I would like to see what you could do with more than a weekend.
Really decent game- I will say in the first level, RNG makes the game swing wildly from very easy to absurdly hard- consider implementing specific patterns to control the difficulty. Good job accomplishing this in a weekend- I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not bad at all! I enjoyed the gameplay, but the camera definitely needs a little love. I'd love to see this as an autorunner- you've got a good gameplay loop here.
Excellent game, and well put together! My only criticism is I didn't understand I could cross the river over itself, and I didn't use whatever "build mode" was. Good job!
"Haha you go dead." 11/10.
Great idea for a game! I didn't have someone to play with, but I still got the gist and enjoyed it. Your art is well done and beautiful, and the design is well put together.
A really nice concept, but this needs a bit of a design pass. For the first couple of runs, it was fairly easy, and then I was not at all able to keep up with demand. A fourth time slot, or the ability to cheaply purchase the fourth time slot, would have made it more playable. That being said, the graphics and audio were good, and I really like the idea, it just needs some implementation adjustment.
I see where you were going, and definitely gave you points for the idea, but I think your scope ran away from you. I'd be interested to see what this idea would look like if you had more time.
Not a bad idea! I enjoyed the twist on top down bullet hell games, and having to constantly outrun the barrier. The visuals felt a little disjointed- I don't know why I was looking at candy canes and such on a donut- but a well made, well programmed unique take on the theme.
You really captured a beautiful aesthetic, and the music is great! I found the gameplay a touch tedious, but it works well, and is well executed. Over all, a great entry- well done.
I'm pretty impressed with your ability to execute something like this in a weekend! It has room to grow- I felt there wasn't a lot that separated it from a rail shooter, but it was executed well, and the game was pretty fun to play. The audio got a little samey pretty quick though
I enjoyed the game for sure. You did a lot with a little, and the narrative structure worked for you. I ended up beating the game- for a weekend endeavor, you delivered an interesting story wrapped in a fun mechanic- that was excellently done.
This is a great start, and shows a good amount of technical prowess. I would have liked to see more level design, and the graphics felt a little busy, but it is a fun interpretation of the theme, and you executed well. Also, the jump feels a little... floaty.
This one is a FANTASTIC use of theme, great level design, and amazing mood. There's some glitches where I was able to open doors without keys in some of the loops, but all in all, you did a great job.
Not bad! Really great product for a weekend. Despite being simple, I felt your graphics were adorable, and enjoyed the aesthetic. I will say, the first screen feels WAY more difficult than like the next five haha. Good iterative design, and the music made me happy. I do think the theme usage was maybe a bit shallow, but overall I loved the product and would play more of it. Well done!
Your graphics are absolutely gorgeous! I felt the sound was a little loud, just as a heads up. My only criticism of the game itself was the difficulty of story mode- I would have liked to see some kind of penalty for getting blocked, perhaps getting knocked back or losing more stamina than just a wild swing, or an opening for the blocker to counterattack. Otherwise, the local multiplayer is fun and interesting.
I will say, though, that this game doesn't deliver super well on the theme. Respawning for finishing a level being counted as "stuck in a loop" is kind of low hanging fruit- games do that anyway. I will say including some narrative about the being keeping you coming back did save you a little bit, but I still felt it was a little light.
Now, all that being said, I'm positively amazed you accomplished this in a weekend. The pixel art is gorgeous, the gameplay is fun, and you did an amazing job. I'd be interested in seeing a post-jam version of this- It was really engaging.
*Exhales* man, there's a lot to unpack in this one. Okay, so your sound design and visuals were great- even lacking in animation, you got your idea across and it played well with your theme. Also, either cut the volume to half, or let the players control the volume. I think I got the gameplay, but having some kind of feedback when you successfully counter an argument would be really helpful. The speed of the game was highly punishing- if possible, I'd slow it down and start speeding it up as the player starts succeeding. For a weekend project, this was a great product, and you did really well.
Now, for the bugbear. Normally, I don't focus much on the themes explored in a narrative, as we really only have 72 hours to deliver on a product, but this depiction of bullying and resisting same is... a little reductive and hollow. Kind words don't counter harsh ones, and "bullies" always find new and creative ways to inflict harm on their victims- I use quotes because the definition becomes highly broad.
I don't want you to take that as criticism... well, it is criticism, but you shouldn't feel bad for it. It's good to want to take on these important subjects, but it's also important to analyze the result, learn from it, iterate, and continue to improve. Normally when I say "this is a great start", I'm referring to the code or the design of a game, but when I tell you "this is a great start", I hope you know I'm talking about the themes you're exploring in your mechanics. I think it's great to try to make games that dissect important subjects, and I sincerely hope you continue to do that. :)
This is a very interesting concept!! I love the idea, and I was highly engaged. The hybrid 2D-3D art was a little jarring for me, but the music was spot on! If possible, what I'd like to see is having the enemies slow down while a loop is running, so that your cuts are easier to line up and predict. Mood is great, and really innovative take on the theme. Well done!
This game is highly addictive and very fun! I very much enjoyed the gameplay loop, and was positively delighted when I got to round 2. My only comment is that the camera was a little distracting, but otherwise, a great product for a weekend! Would play more!
This is absolutely amazing. You did a wonderful job assembling this project, and your results are incredible. Good news, Bad news- I don't ever go easy on people for jams. It diminishes the learning potential of these jams to not give you the best advice possible. That being said, the good news is, I don't have to go easy on you. This was an interesting concept, but I would have liked to see something more about loops in your project, rather than just doing the same thing except longer. The combat was really fun and enjoyable, and your music, despite being a short loop, never got stale or old- GREAT job with that. The art was EXCELLENTLY done, and your aesthetic, if simple, was cohesive and solid. Over all, you have some room to grow, but this is an EXCELLENT foundation for a project. Well done.
I have to say, this is the first game where I went "I'd play MUCH more of this." My only two criticisms are that the functions aren't suuuuper self explanatory, and in a game where editing par is a thing, not giving your players all the information before they begin is a little rough. Also, the music, while VERY fun, needed to do either one of two things- be less foreground and more background, or be twice as long.
All that being said, I loved this game, and everyone should play it. Your team did an incredible job. The graphics are stellar, the writing and scenario, while campy, is very fun and engaging. I loved the take on the theme. Incredible work.
Interesting concept, but I felt losing the automation of turrets didn't add to the experience, just made it a little harder. Still, this is an impressive feat in a weekend, and you delivered on the theme well.
I think you have an interesting idea here, but your keybindings make it a little difficult to grok. The level design is fun, but the physics is rough- Making the button a physical object led to about 2 minutes of me pushing the box back and forth by increments, only to have it overshoot again, but not in a fun way. The music is really fun, but I felt some SFX design could have differentiated your platforms from each other. Also, some in game text tutorials or more thought out controls would have benefited you greatly.
This is an excellent start, and I enjoyed checking it out. I loved the atomsphere of the game, and the mechanic, though I've seen it before, was decently well executed. Your sound design was great, though while I appreciated some of the graphics, others of it were bare bones. Also, I feel like for Humor, you could have gone two ways- either tried to deliver on humor in your mechanics, or opt out of the category- your game could have gone either way, but as is I have to rate it on what exists. Excellent start, and I'd love to see more of your work!
Really good! I love the unique gameplay- it feels very QWOP like. I will say, it's not that hard to make your soundtrack persist between runs, which would have made the audio more compelling. Also, the skybox was a little box-standard- I would have even preferred a solid color to unity's basic skybox. That being said, despite the fact I never completed a lap, this game had me restarting over and over, laughing the entire time. Great job, all in all!
Hi there- you need to opt out of graphics, as your character is a pretty clear rip of a popular pixel art tutorial for characters. Sorry, but I won't be playing until this is mended. :)
I really liked the concept of your game, but I didn't realize I could build things until about half way through. I definitely think there's room to expand this concept and do more with it, but it currently feels like there's a single solution puzzle thing going on. I felt the changes in music were a really nice touch, and the mood is spot on. Graphics could use a little work, which is fine for a jam. Also, next time I would opt out of humor.
Thanks!
Great little title! I thought it really stood out in mood and aesthetic. The gameplay felt a little staid, but it was really, really well executed. Your tutorial and how much content you generated in a weekend is inspiring! Great job over all!
Great atmosphere, great adherence to theme, fun story (and yeah, I read the pillars and got the joke :P) Really well done!
Really fun art and take on the theme! I want to see what you can do post jam with more time!
Great game, great aesthetic, awesome twist on an established board game. You really made Onitama your own!
You can tell you have a good title when people are screen capping their scores XD So close to a perfect game, only problem is I could actually move my feet such that I could no longer control them. Otherwise, an amazing title!
Great game, lots of fun! Needs some tutorial levels, and more time will make an awesome, complete feeling game. Great work!
This game was a lot of fun to play, and I really think you accomplished something special here. I'd love to see a post jam version, my only complaint is I don't think you hit the theme very well. Everything else was awesome!
Great game with really fun mechanics. I wish the mechanics shined through in your game a little more clearly, but over all, this is a game I see myself playing over and over! Thanks so much for sharing it! Consider multiplayer in the post jam? <3
Great game, very creepy. Perfect mood, I hope you take this game farther!
Thank you so much for the play! A humble beginning, but really solid mechanics. I can't wait to see what you do next!
Great game, great mood. Story was interesting, but could have delivered differently.
Great, great little game to play around with, and extremely innovative!
Great game! Great concept, very artistic. a wonderful example of telling a story through gameplay
FANTASTIC game!!
Great game, well executed, would LOVE to see a post compo version!
Well executed and pretty bug free. Fun gameplay but feels a little too frantic with 3 balls. The earth with its missles was a nice touch!
Very well executed, but I felt the gameplay was a little disjointed, and the game didn't tell a decent narrative. The physics worked very well, and the game, for what it was, functioned extremely well for a jam! I'd love to see what you could do in a post jam version ^^
What an interesting idea! I loved the concept, and it turned me on to a phenomenon I wish I hadn't totally missed out on. This idea is inspiring, and I'd love to see more done with it :)
So for a first attempt at Ludum Dare, you should be damn proud. I finally figured out the control scheme (boy howdy, was that a trick...) and when I actually got in to the meat of your game it was a surprisingly well designed if staid survival game. A few tips- A help screen would go MILES in making this game more playable, and reduce the frustration of oncoming players. Also, label your UI.
Edit - and some kind of selection icon to hover over a machine to let players know that a certain building is selected. :)
For new players: Click on machines to select them. The ui on your left builds new buildings at the cost of metal parts. Clicking the items (Food water and air) will fill the various need bars you have. The fourth item is for construction. When you click a building and it's selected in the right ui, the first button will move the building, and the second button will collect its resource for you. Not sure what the third button does.
This game is an excellent first start. I would love to see what you could do with this game in post jam :)
First, congratulations on completing the jam! The gameplay is interesting, but feels a little one dimensional. I didn't really think there was enough challenge to the actual mechanics. The game might have benefited from obstacles preventing me from my goal.
Your aesthetic is GORGEOUS... except the player and the one power up. I loved the low poly feel of your world, and even if you had just used a cube, a stock red cube object from Unity without even a material to make it visually distinct just throws me right out of the immersion you did such a great job in building.
The music is fantastic, and I have zero complaints about it. I enjoyed the hoppy electronic sound, and it fit your game perfectly.
I really hope you do more with this project. Try adding deterrents to the game such as barriers the player cannot cross, enemies that would kill the player, or objects with unusual movement like teleporters or three dimensional movement, and with those tools, give us more worlds to steal bananas from!
All in all, this was a great project, with a lot of potential and a lot of ground to build up from. Thank you for sharing it!
I think this is a solid first attempt, and you should definitely be proud of what you've accomplished here. The graphics are great, and I really like the aesthetic you've crafted for this game. I found the game a little difficult to understand and couldn't figure out how to stop them from dying at the base of the first hill, so I'd focus on cleaning up the mechanics and making them easier to understand. Still, your take on the theme was fun and original, and I enjoyed the idea behind what you're trying to do. I hope you make a post-compo version! Make sure to play other games in the "Games" tab to increase your coolness and your visibility. Good luck!
Fascinating game, and well designed. I really enjoyed the aesthetics and music of the game, and your premise was fun to explore. I will say the controls got a little confusing at times, especially with how the camera moved. Over all I had a great time with this project. Thank you for sharing!
Holy crap, I've never laughed out loud at a game before, but your ending made me crack up for like five minutes. Stellar game play, very original concept. I had a lot of fun. The only thing I didn't like was how chaotic the clicking got towards the end. But seriously, nihilism has never been more funny. xD Your graphics were great, the music was on point, and aside from my minor quibble about the gameplay, it was really, really well executed. Thank you!
Great little game! Controls were tight, and the aesthetics were really well put together. the gameplay was a lot of fun, but I was a little confused by the idea until I played it a couple times. I'd love to see some kind of progression in the game, aside from what I assume was more rapidly spawning enemies. Aside from those minor problems, the game was excellently put together! Thank you for sharing it.
Solid title, with tight controls and great design. The graphics were pretty great for a jam, and the sound was awesome. The only complaint I have is that the gameplay feels a little one dimensional. If there was a post-compo version, I'd love to see some more mechanics in the game to extend its play. Over all a great title, and I had fun playing it!
This was an excellently executed game, with fantastic graphics and music. The mood was on point, and the concept was very original. The game's mechanics didn't... *grab* me and hold me, but I think with some more development and a couple more mechanics, you could really have a great, long lasting game.
This was a valiant effort, but I don't think you had enough in your game to really sell the concept. The controls were a little wonky. I really liked the graphics you were able to put together, though, and the music was really good! Thanks for sharing this. :)
Very fun and interesting logic puzzle. Very cool feel for the theme, and I enjoyed playing it. The graphics are simple and inelegant, but they are definitely cohesive. The sound was simple, and good for what was there, but I felt like there was more that could have been done with it. Over all, I really liked the idea! Thank you for sharing it!
In my history of rating ludum dare games, I don't think I've ever found one I felt worthy of a 5 star review, with a 5 in every category. Your game is the first. Its simple absurdity made me laugh from the outset, the controls felt pretty tight and well put together. Your music was gorgeous, and I want to meet your artist. I played your game for a considerable amount of time, a treat I don't often enjoy when checking out ludum dare titles. Most of them are fun concepts I'd play more if it were more developed.
I would love to see a post jam of this. You guys have something really special here.
Really solid title! The controls are very unique, and the idea is really fun to play! My only complaint is that the game is a little hard to comprehend when you first pick it up. Very well done! Thanks!
An over all stellar game. I like that your game makes a point about conservation without being too on the nose about it. I did find slipping between the world shards did not always give me a gameover, and there was no easy way to quit without Alt-F4ing. Graphics were great, music was awesome. Thank you so much for posting this!
Hey! I think you did a great job of embracing the theme. For a first LD, this is really well done! Your controls were tight, and I feel like the progression was nice. The only complaint I have is the music is a bit much. Maybe turn the sound effects down and leave the music where it is. Anyway, great job!
An excellently done game with interesting gameplay mechanics. The world crushing is a lot of fun to do, your graphics are on point, and the music (especially with two alternating tracks) is really well done.
Congrats on putting this together! I had fun trying out your game. It was well designed, and functioned without bugs. The graphics and aesthetics felt cohesive and well put together. I felt the point you were trying to get across was a little heavy handed, but I still really appreciate that you put together a game that makes people think. Thank you so much for sharing this!
Fascinating and interesting mechanic. It was exceptionally well designed, and I encountered no bugs. I honestly can't find any faults in this title. Brilliantly done.
Pros: Your graphics and mood were very much on point. The sound and music is fantastic. The controls for the game are tight and well designed. Cons: Your game was too challenging. Enemies can shoot at the player before you can ever see them, and has a constant rate of fire that means the player either perfectly times their jumps over and over, or die quickly.
It's a shame, because your game looks and sounds amazing, and I would love to experience more of it.
Looks like it's been said before, but you've made a great game here. The permanent bullets offer a uniquely creative answer to the problem of spamming bullets. The one thing I did dock you a couple points on is your audio- You should probably not have the song reset every time the player died, but instead play continually throughout the level. Still, excellent game, well done!
I thought your game was very well crafted! It looks like your graphics were 3rd party, but you did a great job of providing a unified aesthetic. Your game had a very interesting premise, and I enjoyed playing it! I did have a couple notes. The game was difficult to control, and the hints didn't really sink in for a while leading to a frustrating beginning. I would broaden the view a little and let us see more of the area around us. Right now the car deaths feel a little arbitrary. Thanks for sharing!
Not a bad game! The graphics and mood are definitely the highlight of this title. I did feel like the controls were a little dry, as every action requires the same input. That being said, I had fun playing it! It was really well developed for 72 hours! Thanks for sharing it.
This game is fantastic, and everyone should sit in for a few rounds. I've been pretty active on chat, and what I've got based on what you've built is... "MOAR PLZ." The gameplay, while intentionally simple, still feels like there's room to include more features. Still, as is, it's really fun. The game is decently bug free (and for this media, that's surprising) The graphics are simple, but it works for this. Thank you for this title.
This is a great little title! Over all, I loved it. Very well executed. A few suggestions for possibly post compo... and I only go this in depth for my favorite titles.
Consider multiplayer! This game would be a lot of fun to race my friends on!
Respawning could be handled a little better.
Great job!
Decent idea and execution of theme, but a little lacking in originality.
Great execution! The turn based mechanics were an interesting way to present this game, and I saw no real bugs. Even though I've seen farming games before, it was fun to manage my time. Really well done.
First off, I just want to say congratulations. What you've achieved at 12 years old is, arguably, better than my entry :) Excellently done. That being said, I'm going to be open and honest about my feedback. The negatives I mentioned... don't take them as something you've done wrong, because, like I said, what you've achieved at your age is incredible.
Here's what I liked:
You definitely show a good head for mechanics. For a fun two minute time killer, this has enjoyable mechanics. I really liked the car powerup you put in the game, and I think technically, this game is incredibly sound.
Here's what I wasn't a huge fan of:
The gameplay is a little dry after a while. While the car did help to shake up the experience for me, I felt as though you could add more to pull the user back in after one play through. Maybe after 30 seconds, the army shows up to shoot at the monster? Something like that. Also, perhaps a random background might add some replayability.
Again, over all, your product was excellent. I can't wait to see what you come up with next time :)
Okay seriously, how'd you do that?
Over all, a very solid title. I had a lot of fun playing your game, and had only a couple of critiques.
Pros:
Fun game mechanics
Solid iteration between levels
Smooth difficulty curve
Cons:
1. Your levels should completely reset on death. Sometimes when I started a level, I got shot with two meatballs, sometimes one, sometimes not at all. With skill based gameplay, it's important to give the same challenge every time your player begins.
2. Your controls are a little... floaty, I think is a good word. Basically, the controls feel inconsistent.
Those being said, I would buy a full version of this game. Excellently done.
I'm not really sure the guy is an as... I mean, a monster, for taking free money from the sky. Also, aforementioned control issues.
Really well done! I think you managed a very unique puzzle mechanic. Thank you for sharing this!
This was fantastic! Especially the ending, detailing the death count. Really well done!
No downloads?
I REALLY want to see more of this. I loved the sling mechanics. I think it would pair really well with a stealth mechanic, maybe... Such as using the hook to hide bodies so patrollers don't catch him.
Wonderful, adorable little game. Very well done. I think how many snapshots people have posted is proof enough that you've got something pretty cool here.

Congratulations, this game has made me laugh the loudest so far out of Ludum Dare. This game is delightfully absurd and wonderfully ludicrous. I think my favorite moment was the first time a pig launched one of the enemies off screen. It was so unexpected I couldn't help but break down in giggles, ending my first play through.
Pros:
-Solid, innovative gameplay
-The sounds were great, just wish I had some light music.
-I was a little hesitant when I saw voxels, but you managed to create an engaging and immersive world! Thank you!
Cons:
-Knocked a point of fun for controls: Jump being B didn't make a lot of sense. I kept hammering the Y button expecting to jump, and wondering why it wasn't working. Also, making sign destruction the same key as animal throwing was a little frustrating.
-Again, a little light music would have been awesome.
-A lack of instructions or menus made me a little unsure of how to play at first.
Over all, this is one of my top picks for Ludum Dare. Great title, and I really hope you do more with this!!
Your game was pretty well put together, but I didn't see an unconventional weapon, really. Other than that, your game was pretty fun! Thanks for sharing.
Pros:
Interesting concept with typing spawning new armies.
Cons:
The gameplay felt a tad repetitive once you understood the concept.
BIG Cons:
In a game that is meant to emphasize fast and accurate typing, you have a dragon that completely wipes out my army if I type too fast and too accurately, and then not only reprimands me for doing so, but does so with obscenity. Wrong. All wrong. I don't mind flaws in games, and I love imperfections, but this one is bad. Never yell at your players in your game, especially if they accomplished the goal of the game too well.
What you might have done instead is match the player's spawns with increased enemy spawns, making them need to think more about their decisions.
Cute and fun
Great idea! I would have loved to see more audio feedback when I picked up drums and the purple beat, like a small loop play
I feel like you have a very interesting start here. With a little tweaking (Faster energy recovery please :) ), this is a solid start. I just wish I had been able to play more of it! I can see the seed of a good idea here. I hope you keep on making games, because I'd love to see what you come up with!
This game shows a lot of promise, and I had fun playing it, but I feel like you missed the mark on a couple of areas.
Pros:
-Once I understood the controls, the game was pretty fun to play!
-The music was pretty good, and good on you for making it! That's a big challenge for a lot of people.
-Your graphics are fun and whimsical, and you can definitely feel a unified theme here.
-I LOVED the cloud cover as a visual indicator of success and failure. GREAT execution there.
Cons:
-Your title screen lists strange keys for directions, but when I played it, it was WASD gameplay.
-I don't feel like the game got harder as time went on, and there was no win condition. If a game does not progress in difficulty or list a win condition, it quickly becomes repetitive.
-I wasn't immediately sure what exactly my enemies were. This game could use an instruction screen.
Over all, I think you have a really solid entry here. It was really fun to see your game in action! Thanks for sharing it with us. :)
Also, on a side note that did not figure in to my scoring, consider switching to a game engine that does not require installs, such as Construct 2 or GameMaker: Studio. The added benefit is that you'll be able to deploy to more platforms as well.
Did not download:
Please provide an executable that does not require me to download the base framework. The more accessible your game is, the more people it will reach! Sorry :(
You have a very original concept here, and I actually really like the idea! I don't think it was executed particularly well, but I definitely think it's an idea worth pursuing.
Pros:
Your idea is sound, if poorly constructed, but there are ways to make it work.
The game is pretty fun, once the concept becomes apparent.
Cons:
Your gameplay is a little hard to understand. It took me rereading the instructions twice to finally figure out that only certain combinations of abilities worked.
Your gameplay is completely based on memorization without any real flexibility. If I were you, I would limit yourself to four notes, and make every combination of three do something. For an example of what this would look like, check out Magicka. Then, you could just button mash any combination of buttons and get SOME kind of effect, but players would naturally memorize their favorites or the more effective ones. It's the same kind of theory behind fighting games!
Your projectiles still hit the player who cast them. This may be a style choice, but if it is, it's one I disagree with.
Otherwise, I think you have a really solid start here. If you were to tighten up this gameplay and put out a more fully fleshed out title, I would buy it and play it with my friends. I'm not just saying that, I mean it. Keep working on this! It's obvious you have a very creative idea here. Thank you for your time! Have a good day, and thanks for sharing your entry with us.
Personally, I don't think just calling developers a weapon makes them an unconventional weapon. I really don't see the theme in this game. That being said, I felt your UI was really solid, and you have a good handle on your mechanics.
Controls were a little clunky and unresponsive. The game was also a little too challenging with only one hit before you die. I really enjoyed the concept however, and I think you have a neat idea here!
Very cluttered UI. Try saving the stats for after the game.
Needs tightening up on controls, and perhaps a better jump. Loved the idea, really fun to play! Graphics were great :)
Solid title :) I had a lot of fun playing it. I don't think potions as weapons are terribly unconventional, but I suppose that's up to interpretation. Over all, I liked it a lot, and I hope you expand upon it
I didn't like being forced to use 2 players, but a fun concept over all. great graphics!
This game's really funny! I loved the rhythym gameplay, and the art really added to it! Very well done.
Just a heads up, the game has ssome kind of event that causes controllers to rumble, but doesn't ever stop :)
Absolutely stunning game! Very well done
Solid gameplay, and a pretty unique concept! I loved the art and music, good choices there. I'd love to see more of this!
Solid title, but I don't see traditional rogue like elements like procedurally generated content or rpg elements.
I enjoyed the concept behind your game, but it was just a little too busy. If the pong field were only the two paddles, instead of four, it might have been easier to digest.
I enjoyed your game! The reference was hilarious! I would re-evaluate your background. It was a little too busy, and distracted from the foreground. Next time try something monochromatic, like various shades of blue and black.
Wonderful title! I love the controller mechanics. The level I played was a little trying, but otherwise, I had a great time. Your bleak aesthetics and stark coloring really added to the experience. Thanks!
I had a lot of fun with your title! You have an innovative concept and good exploration gameplay. Small comment: You might adjust the box model and human model. The rest of his frame was poking out of the box for part of the game.
Couldn't play, Java exception error
It was charming and fun, but the website was a little hard to navigate and work around... which I don't really think should happen in an interactive fiction. I am a fan of the IF genre, and overall, this does not disappoint. Well done.
As a native Seattlite, I appreciate the theme! Your game was fun to play, and very challenging. I have one comment- your sound was a bit jarring, and didn't contribute to the game in my opinion. Otherwise, I thought it was very entertaining!
Stellar title! I loved your game. My one comment is that the beginning is a little too challenging without a means to defend myself. If the beginning island was a little bigger, perhaps.
On all counts, I think you did a fantastic job, and I'd love to see you expand on this concept!
Great execution! I've been waiting for this one since I saw your post on the boards. Well done! I'd love to see some AI for single player.
Fun and innovative concept! It's a little too challenging right out of the gate. If the spawn rate had increased as time goes on, it would have been better. Other than that, great game!
Stellar game. I got to play around with the mechanics a bit, but I didn't have someone to play against, sadly. Still, a great effort. Thank you for sharing!
I had a lot of fun with this title! The procedurally generated cannon was a FANTASTIC touch, and I would love to see you do more with that concept. I thought the background was a little distracting. Perhaps smaller stars would have worked better, while still keeping with your theme? Over all, this was a great effort. Thank you for sharing!
An absolutely stellar game! One of the most innovative takes on unconventional weaponry I've seen so far! I want to see you do more with this!!
Loved this title. Monsters have a bad tendency of spawning on your face. Some advanced placement rules would prevent that :)
Very well executed title!
So... the gameplay was decently entertaining. I do feel the premise was a bit... sophomoric for my tastes, and shocking just for the sake of being shocking. You do seem to have a head for interesting game design. I'd love to see more of your stuff... but maybe easy on the fetuses?
Your concept was fun and original, but I found a constant glitch that has me flying in to the air and then dying, with the "restart" button flying around like a madman. I had fun for the bit I got to play though!
Over all, I think you did a good job with this. The concept is pretty new and exciting, but personally, I dunno if it fits all that well with "unconventional weapon". I think the ship was a little hard to control. It still was gameplay I haven't seen a lot of before, so hats off to you! I hope you make something more with this!
An absolutely stellar concept. The gameplay is very innovative, and the challenges are complex enough that I was scratching my head, but not so much that I couldn't get through it. Graphics, while simple, were well executed. Great job.
Stunning audio, great oldschool graphics. The reflex based gameplay isn't anything we haven't seen before, but it is executed very effectively. I think conceptually a blowgun is an unusual one, but I'm not sure it's unconventional. Still, the challenge of manipulating the blowgun was pretty fun!
You have an excellent start here, but the wall clinging glitch and obfuscated gameplay didn't do wonders for me. I love the theme, and the graphics are stellar. I hope you work on this and do more with it!
Looks really good! I don't know what system you're using, but it looks like your enemies are rotating when they ascend the ladder.

Great fun little project! I loved the physics based combat, heck of an accomplishment!

I reviewed this game live on Twitch, and in my notes for viewers, it says "If you play no other game on this list, play this one."
Great aesthetic, mood, and sound. Fantastic gameplay loop- dodging bullets to draw the glyphs was a fantastic gameplay mechanic!
The two notes I came up with during the stream were that having all the glyphs at once felt a little overwhelming, and that gradually unlocking them would be an easier onboarding experience for the player, and also, that you could introduce a roguelike component with upgradeable candles- something like amplifying healing using green candles or something. This would encourage using transformed and rotated glyphs, and reward players who get really good at drawing those in any orientation.
Please keep working on it. In a post jam version, I think I'd like to see a little more visual variety, and integration of some more systems like the one I mentioned above with roguelike progression, but I could easily see myself dropping $10 - $15 on an early access version of this title if you guys had a solid plan and roadmap.
