I like the mood, the music and the interface!

The crystal count is not increasing after each turn?

hellodangochan 2017-05-16 17:20

Interesting management game. The only problem I had was that the tiles randomly disappears it would have been better if you somehow had more information on what tile would disappear.

chromableedstudios 2017-05-20 09:34

Interesting idea--plays like some board games I've run into. Would be nice if there were a couple resolutions so I could actually run windowed. Discovery(ie how the heck do you actually play) felt a bit underdeveloped. Nice entry though--getting cross platform is a big accomplishment.

zgragselus 2017-05-20 11:23

I like the way it plays. It lacks some tutorial and multiple levels (with growing difficulty, as it is quite high for start).

Congratulations on making the game and keep up the good work.

zarkonnen 2017-05-20 11:31

I tried to play it on Linux, but I get the following error message, sorry:

Player data archive not found at `/home/zar/Desktop/HopelessVoid_linux/HopelessVoid_Data/data.unity3d`, using local filesystem

megalink 2017-05-20 11:41

This is a pretty cool game! Could do with some instructions, it took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do. I liked the music! Good job! :)

jod 2017-05-20 11:43

I really like the idea of an inverse resource gathering game, where everything slowly dwindles into nothing-ness. Very well done! Good sound effects, and well done on creating the graphics and sound effects.

My main improvement to suggest would be giving the player some more handholds on what's going on, how to play the game. That would improve it quite a bit. Hope to see your next creation at the next dare!

vidinu 2017-05-20 11:50

I don´t think I understood the game at all. I´ve gotten crystals and created the factories but it never gives me time to complete the capsule. I understand that the manufacture of the capsule begins when there is a factory but I don´t see that it is faster if there are two factories.

Anyway I like the concept, curiously reminds me of my game

Good luck, you have my vote.

Cool concept and that audio really built a great mood for the game. It took me a while to understand that you had different types of options for different tiles and most importantly, it took me a really long time of not getting the crystals before I saw that you needed two people for them to harvest. So the UI really needs to be more interactive in that sense, and in fact, as far as I can tell there's never any good reason to place a person in the world alone trying to make crystal so the option should only be available if there are two people available and should force both on it or off it.

I'm not sure where I stand with regards to the falling tiles. In one way I would have liked some indication of which would be next. I guess you either hard-coded it or used a rule like choose randomly among those with least connected edges. If the latter, it would be nice if those that were at risk got a marking so you could decide if you wanted to chance/sacrifice to obtain a resource or move people off. But it might also be good as it is.

In general a really nice and short (in a good way) strategy game. The UI / user interactions need some more work to make them easier to understand.

clutterarranger 2017-05-20 14:08

A really good setting for a board game. I might play with the rules a bit. Add some more variation and make lil board game for me to play myself. Solid mechanic and UI is nice. Some explanaton ingame would be nice. Well done! Now i will play a bit more and win!

himeija 2017-05-20 14:28

The game looks super interesting but I have a hard time understanding the mechanics ... And it would have been nice to have a button to start over!

Anyway, great job !

benjamin 2017-05-20 14:34

Well I like the concept but I think more buildings and tactical choices could make it a lot better. I think that being able to build mines or farms for example would make decision about how to spend metal more interesting. Music really help with the end of the world depressing mood. Well done

swynfel 2017-05-20 14:39

@bitofgold : Thank you! Your crystal count should increase if you have enough people on a purple tile.

@hellodangochan : The tile that disapear is choosen among the purple tiles where you can collect crystal... It could have been a little more clear.

@chromableedstudios : Sorry, I tried to make the UI as responsive as possible, but I guess it doesn't work with some unexpected resolutions. :/

@zgragselus : You're right! Unfortunatly, balancing the only level already took all our time.

@zarkonnen : Arf you're correct, I forgot to test it, it doesn't work on mine either... I'm very sorry, I'll be more careful next time. For now I haven't found a quick fix...

@megalink : Thanks! Yep, I'll keep that in mind.

@jod : Thank you, if only we had more time. ^^

@vidinu : Wups, did you have workers work on the time capsule?... Otherwise I guess maybe there is a little bug...

@local-minimum : Thank you for your huge feedback! Yes the UI could have been a little more clear. I guess I'll make something better next time. I also agree with the 1/2 people being useless, the mecanics of the game used to be a little different, we didn't rethough this part of the interface through. The falling tile is taken at random among the ones that are purple-ized. They are exactly the same tiles as the ones where you can get crystals. It's true it could have been more clear... A tile is purple if it's on the "outside" and keeps the board convexe. I'll make sure to make a better UI next time, thanks again for your feedback!

@clutterarranger: Thanks! Don't hestitate to tell me if you ever make a nice boardgame or game inspired by it. :)

@himeija : Thank you! Spamming the next turn is in a way a restart button. ^^

@benjamin : Completly agree! That was the initial plan actually, to have building to boost food/metal production, and houses to exchange food for people. But unfortunatly we saw very quickly it would have made the game too complexe, and needed a lot more work on coding, balancing and tutorial... And we're still not experienced enough to include all that in the 72 hours. Maybe next time?

Very interesting, and it's simple enough that I could see this being made into a board game (which I would totally play). Great use of the theme, the resource management was difficult but entertaining, even though I couldn't beat it. The audio did a very, very good job of setting the tense mood of the game. Great job!

geckoo1337 2017-05-20 16:13

Simple and clever gameplay. A really good setting for a board game - good work on the UI. Could do with some instructions, it took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do. Overall, I had fun playing it. Thumbs up. Well done ++

yukonw 2017-05-20 16:15

It was a very interesting game! I feel like a tutorial would have helped quite a bit, as it took me a little while to figure out what I was doing, but it's an interesting idea and I enjoyed it! Good work!

lavwa 2017-05-20 16:17

I like how you used the theme to create the game. Awesome audio, helped to build the mood. Quite ambitious project, doing a strategy game in a LD is quite bold and still you made it, that's impressive. If I could suggest something, maybe add a little bit more information about how to play, but wow I'm happy to have click on your entry :) PS : you just past the 20 rating minimum ;) congrats :)

cvetk0 2017-05-20 16:19

I have same problem on Linux @zarkonnen mentioned. Too bad, I was really hoping I could help you with getting 20 ratings. Keeping fingers crossed that you make it though! :fingers_crossed:

caterein 2017-05-20 16:20

Very clever game, and I agree that it would make a great board game, as well! I think it could benefit from a bit more explanation into the mechanics, either as a small tutorial or in the introduction, because it took me a few tries to get the hang of everything. Overall, well done!

doppelgunner 2017-05-20 16:23

Nice one + 1 ratings but it was quite hard figuring out how to play the game. I still haven't figure out how to play it. But, I did rate you based on what I've seen

iron-leonem 2017-05-20 16:41

I really liked the concept of your game, but I didn't realize I could build things until about half way through. I definitely think there's room to expand this concept and do more with it, but it currently feels like there's a single solution puzzle thing going on. I felt the changes in music were a really nice touch, and the mood is spot on. Graphics could use a little work, which is fine for a jam. Also, next time I would opt out of humor.

Thanks!
