Revenge of the Clones by BraindeadGeo 2015-04-20T05:56:00
This game is super good! I like the cartoony graphics aswell :D

This game is super good! I like the cartoony graphics aswell :D
Awesome mix beetween binding Of Issac And Legend Of Zelda! Too hard though...
Awesome!
Unfortenalty the download wouldn't work, but I rated it five for the graphics from looking at the screenshots, looks like a great concept! :D
Awesome! I liked the game concept and it also is quite fun!
Awesome Game!
Great Job! I like how it focus's on music!
Thanks, sorry about not being able to get past those rooms with the touch pad. I'm glad you liked it :)
Thanks for your reply!
Thanks Too All people who are playing and rating it! I really appreciate :D
Creepy? Lol
Great Job Bonecrusher! Shooting is a bit annoying but still a great concept!
Awesome!
Very Awesome Game! Like portal :D
This is an awesome game! Good Job!
I love this game, good job!
This game is so awesome!
How do you rate a game, I want to rate this
Looks Cool! It didn't load but I will give it a rating on somethings that I can see. Great Job!
I can't get in, I downloaded the windows link and I got a .rar filled with a bunch of the files for the game, I can't find out how to play! D:
Orange bar in the corner was originally going to use hunger, but that was a scrapped feature, I forgot to take it off the hud.
Game is also on gamejolt: http://gamejolt.com/games/monstrosity-ld33/87986
Is the game running in 30fps for anyone? It's meant to run in 60fps normally
Dude good job, I really liked the darkness effect, and the game is also really fun. Nice job man! :)
This game is pretty awesome, but it would be even better if you could move the ship around instead of it moving itself :)
Nevermind, just remembered about the two button thing
This is pretty fun, I loved the sound effects and the game concept. Good job! :)
Awesome!!! The only problem is that the music got a bit annoying but everything else is really well done, good job dude!
This is probably the best game I have played on ludum dare so far, my only complaint is the controls. Good job! :)
Pretty decent concept, although the characters movement was rather frustrating at times. Good job :)
Pretty fun, but extremely buggy. Good job dude :)
This game is pretty fun! Good job man! :)
This is a really cool game, great music, great art and an awesome concept. If I were to give you critism then I would say that the movement is a bit too floaty, other then that good job! :)
This is a really well thought out game but I feel it needed more instructions :) Good job guys!
Cool game! :)
I love the concept but the game feels incomplete, good job! :)
The story and voice acting is hilarious! Good job guys!
Awesome game! I love the melee! :)
The music is the best yet, and the art is excellent. Good job!
The art and music is badass, but the gameplay gets boring quite easily. Good job, dude! :)
This was awesome! I played for quite some time, the artwork is also very good! Nice job! :)
Graphics are sick! Great job!
I didn't really understand what I was supposed to be doing, but it used the theme quite creatively. Good job :)
Very nice game! Could've used some instructions, though. :)
This is cool! I've never really liked puzzle games that much but this is still pretty awesome! Rated 5 stars for innovation.
Enemy designs are colourful and creative, also it is very satisfying to kill enemies. Good job :)
Sorry but i'm not sure what to do, also turning is feels a little weird.
I love the enemy designs :)
Interesting concept, good job.
Good game! It is very fun and the artstyle is very good! I also liked the amount of content this game has! Good job!
I love the art and the idea was pretty cool! Good job! :)
Awesome art! This is very unique and original, good job.
Pretty good artstyle! I also loved the story. Good job!
Movement is slow but everything else is very well made, good job :)
The animation and artwork is adorable! Also very creative and original idea, good job!
I never really understood how the puzzles work, good game, anyways. :)
The graphics are amazing! The gameplay and concept is some of the best I have seen, amazing job!!
Seems like a pretty cool game but the player movement is ridiculously slow and boring, the art is incredible though. Good job :)
Walls look like the floor making it really hard to navigate, also the gameplay was kind of bland. Good job anyways, dude :)
I like the concept, good job.
I love the death message, lol. The concept and music is also awesome! My only complaint is that enemy spawn positions is way to unpredictable making it way harder and a bit unfair at times. Good job, dude! :)
The movement felt a little floaty at times, but everything else was great :) The art was also very cute.
A very fun game, good job dude.
Sorry but this isn't very good...
Good job, anyways :)
Pretty fun game! I love the art, good job!
Sorry but i'm not sure to get this to work...
Well made stealth game, good job dude! I also love the music.
I love the art and fast paced gameplay, also I noticed one of the blocks had a face on it? Anyways good job :)
The artwork needed some work but the story was awesome. I feel like they should replace the 'mood' rating with a narrative rating. Good job.
Atmosphere was amazing, good job.
Good game!
Cute artstyle, the concept is also pretty interesting. :)
Making a house was quite fun and a good concept, good job dude. Art was also amazing.
This is awesome! I love the music :)
Not bad! Good job, dude.
Very creative! Good job :)
I don't really understand what to do, but the art is great! Good job. :)
This is great! Loved the bomberman form, lol. Good job :)
Seems like a cool game. Good job :)
Sorry but this game is broken and impossible to play.
The art is badass! Reminds me of Castle Crashers! This game is also quite addicting. Good job dude.
Good job heartbeast
Awesome game, I loved the player sprite, also the music was great! Good job! :)
I love the art, but the gameplay is extremely boring. The character moves too slow and is overall just not very fun. Good job, anyways :)
This game was awesome! Shooting felt very satisfying, good job!
I didn't really like how this was all luck-based, also graphics were kind of boring.
Zombies were scary, lol. Good job.
A little repetitive but still fun.
I love the graphics!
This is great! Some levels felt too similar but it is still very well designed! Good job man!!
WASD keys would make it much more easier to play, but sill a fun game.
Kind of short, but still very well made! I love how the art of the boss looks really out of place, reminds me of Omega Flowey from undertale. Good job on this one dude.
Didn't really understand what to do, but was still kind of fun. Good job!
Player movement is too slow and the graphics need some improvement. Nice job, anyways :)
Sweet game! I love the idea of being really small, something not done before in the jam.
Just want to tell you that with our game that you rated, there is a lot of content but you may not have known where to go (which is our fault). On the room with the 2 soldiers, you can walk up either sides of the room and that will take you to the next area. I'm sorry that I had to adress this here but I feel like it is the only place you would see it.
But again, great game!
I like the concept, but it was annoying how you had to restart from the beggining upon dying, but it was still very fun. Good job! :)
I love the artstyle.
Cool game, I like the music. Good job!
This is really fun! Good job.
I love the artsyle, good job.
Nice game! I like the level design but the artwork was a bit bland. Really good job!
I liked the idea but I feel the gameplay needs some improvement as it gets boring very quickly. Good job :)
I liked the music and the concept, good job.
I like the idea, also the art is pretty good! Nice job :)
This is pretty fun, good job.
Kind of repetitive and the artwork is quite boring.
Dude this a really good concept, good job!
This game is quite fun but kind of unorginal. Good job, anyways. The 3D models are also really well made for the time limit :)
Very creative and difficult, good job!
The music is annoying and gameplay is hard, also art is alright. Good job, anyways. :)
Music was badass
Great atmospheric music, but the gameplay was quite poor. Aiming your character was quite difficult and... 'floaty'? (i'm not sure how to describe it) and shooting didn't feel very satisfying. Good job, anyways. :)
I find it hard to control where the character is going
This is an interesting concept! Some bullets are almost impossible to dodge which I think should be fixed
The game is slow and when you hit an enemy there is no "effect". Still quite an interesting idea, good job.
I love the death messages. Good job!
What a neat game. The rewards in this game are quite funny, and the art is very simple but has an interesting style to it. Good job!
Neat game! Gets a little repetitive, but has an interesting and unique concept! I liked the music, it was very atmospheric. You guys did a good job, I can't wait to see what you make next Ludum Dare! :)
This was awesome! The music was very atmospheric and the game was very original and used the theme quite well! It took me a little bit of time to understand what I was doing but once I knew this was great. If I were to give some criticism I would say that the UI was pretty bland and ugly, but the game was so good it made up for that. Good job!
@dgspitzer Thanks! Doom was of course a heavy inspiration for this game, especially with the weapon and enemy designs.
@paulhocker Thank you! Keep in mind that this game was made with the help of my incredibly talented team, in which this game would be awful without them. A long with an extra 24 hours (since it was for the jam)
I love this game! It has some great music that will change to better suit the environment, the art was mediocre but had an interesting style, and I loved how open-world this game felt. It also had some great writing, and lots of content! If I were to give this game some criticism, i'd say that the movement felt a little floaty (if you can even call that a word), and I think the game could really do with a map (unless there is one and I just never found it)
Overall, this is a fantastic game, probably my favorite so far! I'd be surprised if this doesn't get within the top 10 for at least one of the categories. Good job! :)
Great game! Killing enemies felt very satisfying and the overall gameplay mechanic was quite well done! If I were to give this game some things to improve upon I would add music, and maybe make different types of enemies appear more at the start of the game. Good job! :)
This is a really cool game! Funny concept, it has great gameplay and some pretty cool music/art. Good job! :)
This is an interesting game. I thought that since the idea of the game is that you are crash landing on another planet I think the world could look a little less earth-like, unless the character you are playing as is an alien. I also think that there wasn't really anything in the game that could separate it from other sandboxes, however I don't think you should worry about that due to the time it was made in. The music was fantastic! You guys did a good job, I can't wait to see what you make next Ludum Dare! :)
I love the art style and music, however I think there could be some more enemy variation a long with maybe a few more different types of player attacks, I found it got quite repetitive after just spamming the X button the whole time. Other than that, good job! :)
I like the sound effects! It felt like you were in space. I also like the bullet hell aspect of it but I wish there were more variety in enemies and maybe even some ship upgrades would be cool. The movement felt a little strange and I found it boring that all you did was just hold a key and watch the bullets shoot out, some more strategical gameplay would make it better. Good job! :)
The music in this game was fantastic, and I love the story. Took me a while to understand what I was doing but when I did this game was really fun. Good job! I hope you continue working on this after the jam ends. :)
Great game! Good sense of humour and filled with some very creative ideas and concepts! Good job :)
The atmosphere and sounds in this game are absolutely incredible. I'd seriously like to see this turned into a full game, it has so much potential. Good job!
This is a pretty cool game! Could do with some instructions, it took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do. I liked the music! Good job! :)
Quite a cool game! Good sense of humor. Probably the biggest issue was that the collisions felt broken, getting stuck into enemies and walls was incredibly easy. Other then that, good job! I hope you participate in the next Ludum Dare :)
Awesome game! I love the music and the levels, had an interesting concept that was executed very well! The art was rather simplistic but well done, and the game had a good amount of content in it. If I were to give this game some criticism I would say that the game got repetitive very quickly, through most levels I was just constantly doing the same thing and it got quite boring after some time. Other then that, this is a really good entry! I loved the space theme, good job!
This is a pretty good game! Yours and my teams entry are actually pretty similar, i'm sure you may enjoy it: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/chroma
Anyways, on to the review. I think you did a spectacular job for your first try, the gameplay is fast and the controls are very responsive. If I were to give this game some criticism, I would say that the shooting sound effects are quite annoying, and dodging enemy bullets was almost impossible. I think some more enemy variety would also add to the experience. Other than that, this is a fantastic entry! You guys should be proud of yourselves. I can't wait to see what you guys make for the next Ludum Dare :)
This is a great game, good music and art. However I have a few problems, after playing the game for about 5 minutes for some reason the music started to glitch out and occasionally disappear for a few seconds, this was followed by a lot of random stuttering and frame rate drops. I'm not sure if this is just a problem with my pc but I thought I may as well mention it anyway. I also think a lot of the positioning of the yellow enemies could be changed around a bit, they have a good concept and attack pattern but there were a lot of times when they were undodgeable. Don't take these flaws to heart as this is a truly fantastic game for the time period. Definitely one of my favourite games i've played for this jam, good job! I can't wait to see what you make for the next LD. :)
This is certainly a great first Ludum Dare game. Interesting and original interpretation of the theme, a long with a fun and interesting concept. I think that the music could've definitely been better, and of course much longer, and the art was a bit of a mess in some areas. This game certainly has a lot of potential, I hope you continue work on this after the jam. I look forward to seeing your future entries, good job dude! :)
This game is really cool! You did a good job especially since this was made in c++. I really loved when you would get about 1 minute into the game, the enemies would start to spawn quite rapidly, it got quite intense and was really fun.
I know this is really off topic, but i'd also be interested in learning about game development in c++, how hard is it and how did you learn it? I'm sorry if I am annoying you with these questions, I am just very interested in it lol
Other than that, good job! Keep up the great work dude, I can't wait to see your next game! :)
That intro was the best thing I've seen in my entire life.
I really like this game! Very funny and has good gameplay! I though the art and animation at the beginning was great. Good job! :)
Had an interesting concept, but quite repetitive and simplistic. I'd definitely love to see you continue working on this in the future, it has potential! Good job :)
It has an interesting concept, however the game could've been more exciting if it had more gameplay elements. Also the graphics are incredibly bland. Other then that, good job!
This is a fantastic game! I love the music and gameplay, very original! This game has lots of potential, you should definitely continue working on this! Good job!
This game has a good concept and is certainly good for a first LD game however I feel it could've been made much better. The art was quite ugly and the movement/collisions felt really strange. There wasn't any music or sound effects, and the game could've been a bit longer. Other then that, good job! :)
This is a fantastic entry, very ambitious and has really good writing! This will most likely get within the top 10 for overall, and that spot is well deserved for such a good entry. The music was very well done, and fit the mood of the game perfectly. The only flaw I see with this game is the art, some of the environmental objects like taps and sinks looked really scaled and out of place in comparison to the rest of the art. Other than that, good job! You guys should definitely continue working on this game after the jam, it has lots of potential.
Really fun game! Quite challenging, and had some great music. I loved the idea of using that boomerang style thing as a weapon, it was quite unique. Good job! I hope you continue this after the jam. :)
Cool game! The concept was quite innovative and it suited the theme pretty well. Music wasn't bad either. Good job!
The controls are responsive, although they still feel kind of hard to control. I also think that it would be better if the attacking was done with the mouse, with the character facing the mouse position. That way to turn around you wouldn't have to walk sideways and run into the enemy. The art is fantastic! This game is awesome, good job!
That intro was amazing. I liked the art and the music! The gameplay was great although it got quite repetitive very quickly. Good job guys! :)
This is really nice! I love the hellish feel to it, reminded me of Space Funeral. The gameplay is pretty simplistic, although had quite a lot of different strategies to it that made it really fun. The sounds were also awesome. Good job man!
What an awesome game! The art was great and the dark red lighting captured the tone of the game perfectly! The music was also pretty good, although some sound effects would have been nice. Good job guys!
This game is fantastic! Really the only flaws are that I think the enemies could have slightly better AI, and that sometimes way too many enemies would appear on the screen at once. I thought that the melee was done really well, and I love how it draws that line in between the weapon and the cursor. Great job!
Nice game! Had some well done mechanics and level design, the only flaw is that I think the art style is pretty bland and boring. Really cool gameplay though, good job man!
What a fantastic game! The concept is quite complex and very very innovative. It takes some time to learn, however once you finally figure it all out the game is super fun. The art is great as well! Fantastic job!
Nice game! The concept was really unique and interesting, and the design of the levels utilized it quite well! I thought that the art was a little bland, and so was the sound effects although this game is still really great. Also a level editor is an awesome idea! Good job man!
Neat game! The artwork was fantastic! I didn't really like the idea of you re-filling your power by spamming the mouse button, as it got almost impossible near the end. Music was good but got quite repetitive after a while, good job! :)
Neat game! The 3D models look awesome, however the gameplay needs a bit of work. It's hard to damage the enemy without getting hit your self. Good Indiana Jones pun by the way xD
Good job! :)
Awesome game! The art was amazing, and the concept was quite innovative. The only flaw I would say is that I think the movement is a little bit too slow. Other then that, fantastic job! :)
Really cool game! The art was awesome and I love the idea of it. Crafting was also a pretty neat feature. Good job! :)
Nice game! The movement felt kind of slow, and I think that the bullets should go way faster. Some more enemy variety would have been nice as well. Other then that, I really liked how all the areas were connected, it felt like a world. Good job! :)
This is a really neat game! The music made it feel so calming and it built the mood of the game really well. I thought that movement felt really stiff and it got quite repetitive after a while. Still a really good game! Nice job!
Awesome game! I love how the characters head will follow the mouse. The theme was used pretty well! The music was simple but effective, and the gameplay was quite fun! Good job!
Nice game! I think it would be nice it it had a little bit more polish, and the hit box needed to be bigger. The background hurt my eyes a bit as well. Good job man! :)
Cool game with an interesting concept. The game is quite challenging but fun once you get the hang of it. Some audio would be nice though! Good work. :)
Great game! Takes some time to learn how it works but once you do it's super fun. I liked how a sound plays to indicate when a new box would arrive - it was quite helpful. Awesome work!
Cool game! Some more visual and audio feedback for when you shoot would be nice. Nice artwork though! Good job.
Very innovative and entertaining game. I love the sound effects! Good work. :)
Oh wow! What a fantastic idea for a puzzle game. This is absolutely fantastic! The sound effects, visuals, and theming were all done really well! You must continue working on this after the jam, I'd love to see this turned into something bigger.
Nice game! Concept is pretty interesting and funny. The weapon pickup system also reminds me a lot of Super Crate Box. Fantastic job! :)
Great atmosphere and music! The concept was very unique and interesting. Good work!
This is a brilliant game! The sound effects are really well made. The game idea is very innovative, and while it takes some time to get used to the controls, it later on becomes a very fun experience. Great work!
Nice game! Good humor. I liked the artwork, the colors look very pleasing. However the environmental art looks out of place with the character art. Gameplay is awesome though. Great work! :)
Really innovative game! Some the prayers were really funny. Good work!
Fantastic game! I loved the graphics and sound effects. It felt very satisfying to get a combination correct. Great work!
Cool game! The music was good and certainly complimented the adventurous nature of the game. Some more feedback as when you strike an enemy would certainly make it better. Picking up money felt quite satisfying, and the enemies were really cool! Good work. :)
This game is absolutely fantastic! The main mechanic was very interesting and served a lot of purposes within each level. The music perfectly complimented the story and the urgency of the situation, which in turn constructed a great atmosphere. You NEED to turn this into a full game, the idea is really clever! Good work!
What are the controls? I can't play.
Very innovative and fun concept! The art was also fantastic. Great work!
Awesome game! The music complimented the game quite well, and built a really good mood for the game. Gameplay is pretty great. Good work!
Absolutely fantastic game. The game feel was done well and the sound effects were really great. Good work!
This game is awesome, and probably my favorite entry so far. The music is really good in how it builds mood and atmosphere within the game, and also reinforces the sad backstory. Shooting the discs felt very satisfying and the enemies felt quite different to each other. The concept is also very creative! Good work!
This is a really interesting concept. Better visuals and audio would be good to enhance the theme of the game. There were also some problems where the player would jump incredibly high for no real reason. This is a really smart concept though, good work! :)
Nice game! Killing enemies is quite fun however it can get quite repetitive after a while. The movement speed was also a bit too slow. Music was quite cool, and so was the artwork! Great job guys.
I absolutely love this. The concept is really cool! I really like obscure games like these. Very imaginative! Good work!
Interesting concept! Lighting was pretty cool. More sound for when you mine stone would be good, as well as some better collisions. Great work!
Awesome game! The concept was pretty clever and funny. I also liked some of the sound effects. Some more feedback for when you hit an enemy would be great. Good work! :)
Nice game! Very interesting concept and execution. Art was pretty great however some sound would have been nice. Great work!
Awesome game and concept. I loved the variety in weapon and enemy types. The sound effects from the zombies were especially great. Good job!
This is amazing! Concept is so innovative and original, it is incredible how this was put together in just two days. Animations were very smooth and looked great. Only area where I thought the game was lacking was in audio and mood. I think some background ambience could really improve the players immersion within the game. Theme interpretation was very creative and the crafting system was polished and well made. Great work, keep it up!
Wonderful game! Central mechanic of shrinking levels was executed wonderfully. I especially liked the levels where you have to use it as a means of getting to higher ground, made you think and study the function of the mechanic. Art was excellent and created a very peaceful mood which contrasted with the urgent tone of the game play. Really great job, one of the best compo games I've played so far. :)
Awesome game! Levels and puzzles are extremely well designed and cleverly thought out. Art was simplistic and very effective. One of the best I've played so far, great job! :)
Thanks for the feedback everyone! :) @boltkey the original concept was actually to have more then one flood level, but we decided to stick to just one as we thought it would result in too much waiting, and therefore destroy the flow of the game. Also, good catch with the exploit! I'll create a post-jam version which fixes some of these bugs. @poffle I'm really glad it made you feel that way, I'm super proud of how the visuals turned out. It's a style that we've never really tried before, glad about how it all came along! :)
Thanks for the feedback @keyurrana @cydouzo @raziyya ! Those are definitely some great ideas to reinforce player exploration, and therefore further enhance the players enjoyment of the game. Initially I thought that the hunger system would be enough to encourage players to not stand idle but obviously I was wrong. More things to see and do in the world could also lessen the chance of players staying still throughout the game. Will look into implementing these ideas in a post-jam version!
Fantastic entry! I absolutely adore the art style, music and sound effects are wonderful too! Gameplay is very original and fun, gets very challenging after the green circles are introduced. One of my favourite LD42 entries so far, keep it up! :)
Excellent work! Game concept is very original and fun. It feels very satisfying to collect money. I also like how you can't change the rotation or position of cargo once you've placed it (or at least I don't think you can,) as it promotes careful thinking and planning. This is a really fun and interesting game, great job!
Very nice game! Loved the cartoonish art style and game concept. I thought that pushing corpses down to the meat grinder felt quite tedious and not very fun. Would be cool if that idea was further integrated into combat, e.g. weapons and enemies having an influence on it. Collisions were slightly buggy but for the most part they were good. Great job! :)
Awesome! Loved the simplistic control and the art looked fantastic! Very unique and interesting interpretation of the theme, game concept is well executed. Sound effects and music suited the tone and setting of the game very well. Only suggestion is to implement a lap system, so players can develop a sense of progression and skill development. Good work!
This is incredible, I am truly blown away by what you put together in just three days. Music, sound, art, story, are all phenomenal. Brilliant work! Best LD42 game I've played yet.
This is awesome! Game idea is wonderfully executed and original. Tutorial was very helpful and specific. I didn't like how there was no way of progressing after you ran out of money and couldn't produce any more (unless there was a way out of it, and I just didn't know.) Art is simplistic but effective. Sound effects would definitely enhance the immersion and realism of the game experience, would love to see that in a post jam version! This game is amazing, keep up the good work! :)
Wonderful game! I love the cutscenes and animations, very polished and enjoyable. I love the comical aesthetic of the game, it's very unique! Visuals only further compliment it and the music is awesome. Only suggestion is to make it so that when you hold space you fly up, and when you aren't you slowly fall down. It would make it a bit more easy to control. Great work! :)
Neat! Simple and works well. I liked the unique control scheme, my favourite part of the game. Some more sound and visual effects would assist in making the game feel better. I also really liked the particle explosion when you died, some more things like that would be awesome. Good work!
Cool game! I like the simple controls and the art is wonderful! Music and sound would be an excellent addition, as it would add a whole new level of immersion and atmosphere to the game. Great work! :)
Very intense! Movement was a bit too fast for my liking, but wall jumping felt great. Music fit the game well, art style was pretty cool too. I think it would be better if the rest of the art was drawn with the simple low res style that the characters are. Good work, really interesting concept. Keep it up!
Loved this game! Art style is simplistic but still looks pretty cartoony and great. Game concept is very innovative and well executed, the ship feels good to move. Only three tweaks I would make are to change the shooting sound effect, makes bullets move faster, and make the ship rotate quicker. Other then that, this game is fantastic! Great work, keep it up! :)
Good work! Controls are really nice. I loved the game concept and sound effects. UI was a bit confusing, but makes sense after a while. Nice job! :)
Absolutely phenomenal! The amount of work that went into this is seriously impressive. The ending song was hilarious. I can't wait to see what you guys make next! :)
Fun game! I liked how some crystals were placed towards the edge of the map, forced me to think and prioritise which crystals I would collect first. Music was simplistic but fit the mood of the game well, would say the same about the art. Good work!
I love the neon visuals and especially the music. Reminded me of "Plantasia" by Mort Garson. Game is very simplistic and challenging, sound effects are cool as well. Great work! :)
This game is phenomenal! I absolutely love the artwork and atmosphere. Gameplay is super addictive and fun, it feels great to find new weapons and enemies. Best game I've played yet, amazing work! :)
This is a very cool game! Sound effects are quite humorous, and I think it complimented the tone of the game quite well. Interesting interpretation of theme as well! Only nitpick: weapons could feel a bit more "powerful," which can be accomplished by adding visual effects to the game such as screenshake or freeze. Shooting sound effects were slightly weak as well. Gameplay is a lot of fun either way! Great job! :)
Nice work! Very simplistic and fun. Music was made quite well, definitely suited the game. Collisions were a bit buggy, and I really didn't like how gravity felt and functioned. Other then that, this is a really fun and simple game. Good job, keep it up! :)
Hahaha this is really funny! Didn't like the art that much but the sound effects and music were well done! Game concept was quite humorous and well executed. Found some strange collision issues but other then that, I didn't encounter any major bugs. Good work!
Cool game! I liked the control scheme a lot. Art was simplistic but worked very well. I liked the opening and the bullet-time system was pretty cool. Good work! :)
This is a very nice game! I love the music, and how it changes when you're flying and when your at a planet. I like how little fuel you have, so you are forced to be very conservative and smart with how you use it. It's also pretty cool how your ship circles around the planet that you are at, allowing you to launch off towards a nearby planet to preserve fuel. More sound effects, such as one for flying, would enhance the atmosphere of the game. A background could also work pretty well. I loved the story, though! Great work! :)
This is a really cool game! I thought that the concept was well executed, but could have been better if there was a better indication of human population (e.g. a warning message popping up on screen when the population is low.) Sound effects could have hugely enhanced the atmosphere and mood of the game too. I loved the art, and the glowing effects that emitted off of each planet looked very pretty! Overall a pretty great game, good job! :)
It's games like these that make me wish Ludum Dare had a "narrative" voting category. This is an absolutely wonderful game, it is incredible that this was all written in such a short amount of time. I loved the background music, set the tone of the game perfectly. Excellent work!
Neat game! I thought that the concept was very cool and the art was well-done. Physics and collisions were really buggy and hindered the gameplay experience for me, I also didn't like the controls very much. Perhaps a better scheme would be WASD to move, space to jump, and E to pickup crates (abilities can stay as 1 and 2.) UI was quite confusing and didn't look very good, and the game initially was quite confusing but you get the hang of it. Overall a really interesting concept! Great work, keep it up! :)
This game is phenomenal, I love the opening! Ambience at the start is very atmospheric and well-done, and the lack of music when underground promotes a feeling of loneliness. Interacting and dig mechanics were very cool, and the art was nicely made. This is a fantastic entry, keep it up! :)
This is a really cool game! Gets very intense as time goes on. I loved the art style and especially the music, promoted the industrial vibe of the game quite well. Sound effects are well done too. Great work! :)
Amazing work! Artwork is fantastic, I especially liked the character animations. Music and sound effects would work amazingly in a game like this, the mood and atmosphere would be great. Game concept is very innovative and executed quite well. Wall collisions were a bit strange and I thought the inventory system wasn't hugely useful, but was still well made. Overall I absolutely loved this game, you all did a terrific job! Keep it up.
Excellent! I loved the game concept, very easy to understand. Art was great and music choice was good, some more sound effects for shooting, damaging and boulders etc. could really assist in improving the immersion. Gameplay could be improved if there were to be more visual effects when you hit an enemy or shoot, e.g. screenshake. Good work, this is a fantastic entry!
Loved the game concept! Was pretty cool how the levels were different but still carried on a continuous score, I haven't seen many games do that before. Art is simple and effective, same goes with the music and SFX. Good job!
Very challenging and unique platforming game! Love the broom mechanic and especially the dark lighting, sets the mood perfectly. Checkpoints for each room would be helpful, as it was quite deterring to have to go from the start each time you die. I also love how when you start riding the broom, the animation is quite long, so you have to think about when to use it as you might at risk of being caught by the corruption. Excellent artwork, too. Brilliant job!
Good work! At first I was quite confused, but you get the hang of it after some time. Music was catchy and well-made, even if a bit repetitive. Ship movement speed should have been a lot slower and smoother, and I think the vacuum ship is a bit OP. Sound effects work wonderfully and a very innovative game idea, great job! :)
Really cool game! Art and visuals are wonderful! Particle effects greatly assisted in making the world feel more alive. Felt annoying to have to constantly click, would prefer if you could just hold down the fire button to shoot. UI looked great as well, but was confused as to what some symbols meant. Tower defence aspects were cool, encouraged me to prioritise which enemies I killed first. Good work!
This game is brilliant! Great on job on communicating emotion and theme through the gameplay. Captures the feeling of social anxiety perfectly. I especially like how the light around you "pulses" like a heart when you are very stressed. Awesome job!
This game is incredible! Best I've played so far. Art is gorgeous, and the mood is great and well complemented by the music. Loved the screen shake effects for when you kill an enemy. Only problems I have is that the attacking sound effects felt quite weak. If they were better, the game would feel and play even more amazing then it already does. Excellent work!
This game is phenomenal! Best art I've seen in an LD42 game so far. Music is very thematic and fits the game perfectly. Sound effects are super satisfying and well made. Buying upgrades and being able to change your appearance were awesome additions. Very fun game, excellent job! :)
Nice! A very simplistic gameplay loop which is fun and satisfying. I liked how there was a time limit as to what you could do, a score system would potentially make it even more fun. Particle effects were really cool and I liked the music. Good work! :)
Really nice! I love the simple and bright visuals. Gameplay is fun, even though the movement is a little floaty and some hit boxes are a little off. Great work! :)
This is a really nice game! I love the concept, and the crafting system was quite well done considering the time limit. I also liked the fast movement and background. Sounds were pretty great too. Good work! :)
Super cool game! I loved the art style, character walking animation was quite funny and well made. Game concept is very innovative and was executed very well. I liked how the enemies were black to make it so that you can't see them in the dark. Great work, keep it up! :)
Game is little buggy but overall a very unique and innovative concept. Transitions between levels were very smooth, and the rotation made for a hectic and fun gameplay experience. Collisions were a bit glitchy but it didn't hinder it too much. Great work! :)
Cool game! I love all the references haha. Music and art is excellent, sound effects are also great. Gameplay was a bit confusing at first, but you get the hang of it. Good work! :)
Short and fun game! Very easy to understand, instructions are well explained. Collecting coins and killing enemies was very satisfying. Music fit the mood of the game very well, I also loved the colour palette. Great job!
A really cool game! I love the art style, music and sounds were great but did get very repetitive after a while. Super fun, and very unique interpretation of the theme. Brilliant job! :)
Very nice game! Concept is extremely original and innovative. I think that planets orbit too fast, and it would be helpful if you dropped the planet at the mouse position instead of there being a large vertical offset. Music was simple and effective. Great job! :)
Lovely game! The models are all wonderful! Music and sound effects did a great job at creating an intense tone. Game concept was very original and fun. The score UI could look a bit better but the title screen looks great. Awesome work! :)
Neat! Music was humorous but definitely got annoying after a while. The concept is quite innovative and the control scheme is simple and easy to learn. Art could have been better and the movement felt very floaty. Bullet collisions were a little odd as well. Overall a great concept, good work! :)
Great game! Concept is very innovative and unique. I love the weapon ideas! More visual effects, such as screenshake, would assist in making the game feel more satisfying and enjoyable to play. I'd recommend looking at a talk called "The Art of Screenshake." Sounds would also assist in improving the gameplay. Overall, a really innovative and unique game. Good work! :)
Good work! I love the sound effects haha, very humourous. Game concept is quite fun and easy to understand. 3D models are also done quite well. Great job! :)
A very fun, unique and polished game! The tutorial was very helpful, and once I started playing it got incredibly fun! I loved having to time when you moved each ship to prevent potential crashes. Art and music were also great. Good work!
This is a pretty cool game! Grouping up enemies and killing them was very satisfying. Blood effects are awesome. To further enhance the gameplay, I would suggest adding more game feel features such as screen shake and freeze. Sound effects would also be very good. Great work!
Love the cloning idea! Gameplay is super fun, sound effects are very satisfying and the art is wonderful. To improve, I think that the cooldown between each dash should be decreased. Only bug I encountered was where if you die just as you kill the last enemy in a group, you won't respawn. To make it even more fun, I would suggest adding more visual effects such as screenshake. Overall a very good game, great work! :)
Awesome game! Graphics are awesome, and controls are very tight. Wall jumping was a little glitchy and I didn't understand how springs functioned at first. Music was great in promoting the halloween / vampire-esque atmosphere that the game conveyed. Good work!
Wow! This is really cool! Music was fantastic; very atmospheric and evoked the mood of "dread" and "impending doom" very well. Crafting system was great and visuals were very good! The UI really gave off the feeling of being in control of a space ship. Some sound effects would have assisted in enhancing the immersion.
Great work! :)
Nice job! I would have preferred if the movement was tied to the x and y co-ordinate of the player, and not determined by the direction they are facing. I thought it was really clever how the ship was at the title screen of the game, and you could learn the controls there without being put under danger. Particle effects looked great and the music was effective. Good work! :)
One of the best entries so far! Pixel art was gorgeous and the neon aesthetic of the game was brilliantly done. I loved how the screen pulsated to the beat of the music. Theme was very cleverly integrated, excellent use of screenshake and particle effects. Keep up the good work! :)
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this! Got a high score of 123. Art and music needs improvement but the game concept is very innovative and fun, great work! :)
Neat game! I really liked the black / white / red art style and the stickmen characters. Some more "power" could have been added to the punches and kicks, as they felt quite weak. This can be done through better sound effects or visual effects such as screenshake. It was also a bit too easy and repetitive, perhaps it would be better if enemies came from both sides instead of just one? Story was very humorous and creative. Music was great and overall I really liked the game, good work! :)
Fantastic entry! Great sense of humour, I loved the introductory sequence. Art was very moody and polished, only complaint was that the orbs looked out of place. Music fit the humour of the game well. Couldn't get past the boss level haha, all the levels before that were fantastic and very well designed. Great work! :)
Amazing job! Very challenging and well designed, I really liked the simple control scheme. Concept and theme integration was incredibly clever and innovative. Art was spectacular and the mood complimented it wonderfully. Brilliant work!
Great game! Particle effects and artwork were gorgeous! Sound effects suited the retro aesthetic of the game very well. Some more visual effects such as screenshake when shooting could further improve how the game feels. When playing with a keyboard and mouse, I think it would work best if the mouse could move across the whole screen, rather then being tied towards the centre. Gameplay overall was awesome and hardmode is a great addition. Excellent work! :)
Awesome game! Great use of screenshake, sound effects were very satisfying and bassy. Music is very catchy as well. Great work! :)
Cool game! Movement is pretty floaty and the still background makes it hard to determine the speed of your movement. Sound effects would also assist in improving the games immersion. I still really liked the game concept though. Great work! :)
This game is fantastic! Initially I was very confused as to what was going on, as I wasn't aware that the game was 3D but in a top-down perspective. Once you get the hang of it, it's heaps of fun! I loved the simplistic art style and music too. Brilliant work!
Nice work! The game concept is really cool. I think some animations or sound effects would go a long way in enhancing the quality of the game. Also, while the music didn't sound too bad, it did get repetitive and could be changed to suit the mood of the game better. Multiplayer is a really cool addition! Awesome job! :)
This is really good! I love the graphics and the game concept. Only flaw was that I couldn't figure out how to drop the current present which was being held. This caused me to have to restart the game each time I got an item which didn't correspond with what any of what the children wanted. Other then that, great work! Keep it up :)
This is a lovely story! The background ambience really assisted in building a great atmosphere. I also liked the art style. Good work!
This is a really interesting game! I love the darkness mechanic, it adds so much tension and anticipation to the gameplay. The team member concept was also really cool! Great work, I'm excited to see what you make next LD! :)
This is pretty cool! I like the stickmen art style and the shop concept. Some more visual feedback during combat, e.g. screenshake, freezing, or enemies flashing red on attack could really improve the game feel. Overall this is a neat game, good work! :)
Quite a fun game! I love the screenshake. Powerups were a bit useless, but were still a nice addition anyways! I also really like the art, even though the character kind of looked out of place in comparison to the pixel art enemies. Good work, really enjoyed this!
This is great! I love the way every decision has a major effect on the end result, it creates a lot of tension and challenge. The writing is also fantastic. Good work as always, Phil! :)
This is a really fun game! I love the art and animation style, reminded me of Nidhogg 2. Very original with its concept and theme interpretation, and also quite humorous. Great work, one of the best I've played! :)
This is really cool! I love the art and music. Combat felt a bit too basic though, however I didn't find that it hindered the experience. Good job!
This game is really great! I absolutely love the art style, and the game concept is very original! Only suggestion is for more visual feedback when certain things happen, and also that the movement feels a bit clunky. Overall, a great game! Keep it up :)
This game is fantastic! The music and background ambience is beautiful, and builds a great atmosphere. The art is also really great. Gameplay is a bit confusing, but is fun once you get the hang of things! Great job!
Nice game! I really like the mechanic. It's quite difficult, and some more balancing could make it a lot better. The graphics had a lot of potential, given the white / black / red colour scheme, but unfortunately came off as a bit rushed. Killing enemies and collecting health was quite satisfying, so good job on that part! Overall a really unique game, good work!
This is really good! I love the powerups, and the visual style is very pretty. The movement was quite frustrating at the beginning, though you gradually get more used to it over time. Also, the camera sensitivity was way too high, it would be great if there was an option to adjust that. Good work!
Not bad! I really like the concept of the game, though it could have been executed a lot more clearly, as I didn't understand why or when I was supposed to use it. I love the simplicity of the art style, and the music / sfx isn't too bad! Good work man, keep it up!
This is really good! I love the art style and overall tone of the game. So far one of my favourite variations of the "sacrifice your health" mechanic, I thought it was very well executed! I also quite like the blood particle effects for when you attack, that was a nice detail. Overall, great work! :)
Nice game! With a better art style and some more polish this could become really good!
This is fantastic! I love everything about this, the concept is very original and engaging. Good work! :)
This is quite good! I like the core game mechanic and the art style is very pretty. Some more variation as to where enemies spawned, as well as a greater difficulty progression, could really enhance the games engagement. Additionally, I'd reccommend adding some screenshake or other forms of visual feedback. Good work, I really enjoyed this!
This is a great little puzzle game! I quite liked the art style and game concept. Only suggestion is that mechanics are introduced too rapidly. I feel like there should have been a couple more smaller levels which gradually built on the mechanics, as I found that the first level made me have to learn too many things at once. Also, some game mechanics could be telegraphed a bit better. But overall, this is a fantastic entry! Good work, keep it up! :)
Interesting game! I like the throw mechanic, couldn't seem to figure out how the "stop cultist" function worked though. The movement also feels pretty great, only suggestion is for there to be some tweaks to the wall jumping. If the level design and gameplay mechanics were fully explored, this could have been a really great game. Overall, not bad, good work everyone!
This is pretty good! I like the simplicity of it, the gameplay reminded me of Super Meat Boy Forever. The purple / pink colour scheme was a great choice and created a really interesting tone. Good work! :)
This is a super fun game! I really like the art style and music, the game concept is pretty cool too! Only suggestion is to add more level variety, as currently they all have the same structure. Good work! :)
This is pretty cool! The art could be improved but the gameplay is quite original and fun, reminded me of gunpoint by Tom Francis. As @sadzanenyama said, some more visual and audible feedback for when you kill an enemy could greatly improve the game. Good job!
Good job! I really like the mechanic, it's very innovative! Art was pretty good as well. Only complaint is that the difficulty curve could have been scaled a bit better, as there were some instances where I would be transitioned from a really hard level to a really easy one.
Thanks for the feedback @honey-pony and @joeshanahan ! The camera and background issue in terms of identifying movement was something that I had a lot of trouble fixing during development. One solution I tried was having a grain effect rather than having scanlines, where the grain would consist of squares that were mapped onto the background instead of being locked alongside the camera. Unfortunately it didn't look all that good compared to the scanlines, so I reverted back. Having more objects in the foreground is another way that it could be solved, and I do really like your ideas of having a proper varied background and a more centered camera position so that movement is more obvious.
Glad you liked it and thanks for the feedback @spacemonkey ! The growing system functions in a way where collecting the pickups will multiply your current population by 2, but in doing so your bacteria will become smaller. It should have been better indicated to the player through visual feedback and the UI. More ways of expanding your population outside of the pickups would also have helped with this, in my opinion. :)
Awesome game idea and execution! The models were really good too. Progressional gameplay was quite satisfying and kept me engaged for a long time. However, some upgrades and their progressions were really confusing and left me not knowing what was going on. More explanation or indication needs to be included for each of them, and how they will affect the future upgrades and gameplay. More visual indicators and feedback also should be added for general moments in gameplay, like when getting hit or gaining energy. Consider making it so that the screen will flash red or shake when the player gets hit by an enemy, or having the cards that you can't pull due to low energy be faded out. Overall this game was a lot of fun, it just needs to improve its communication.
This is really good! The visuals are nice and the sound effects are satisfying. There are a lot of details that I liked, such as how the screen zooms in on death, or how the arrows shake a little when hitting a wall. Main issue is that there could be stronger visual feedback for player actions; consider adding things like screenshake, screen freeze, and more particle effects. Would have also liked to have been able to use WASD rather than the arrow keys for movement. Great job!
Great game idea! Interesting balancing system and gameplay. However player movement in the game feels quite unpolished and unnatural, the gravity makes it feel like I'm underwater. This is a major defect given that it is one of the core gameplay verbs, and these verbs should be the most polished and enjoyable given that they are what the player will be doing most of the time. More indicators could be used so that the player can project certain things like how high they can jump, this could be shown in the level editor. Also some kind of line which is cast between the start and end point while you place it, showing the points you will gain would also help for indication. More interesting "non-static" level pieces could be added, which all provide different emergent situations when combined together. This will add more strategy to the gameplay, and encourage the player to be creative with how they approach the objective. Artwork is also a bit bland; more colourful and animated visuals can go a long way in making the game feel more alive. Overall I really liked the game concept, but the gameplay needs a bit more polish. Well done!
This game really impressed me! I loved all of the little details that were included like the dust and walking particles, the dialogue sound effects, and how the music slows down and fades into a heartbeat when low on oxygen. I completely agree with @takeshi64 in that the constant need to replay the game removes a lot of the tension. Having the positions of the different components be randomised alongside more direction could help resolve this problem. Some of the ways in which the player was intended to progress were really difficult to foresee or figure out, like how you had to drain the battery out of the radar to have it explode - most players would think that it would just turn off. Overall the aesthetics of this game were excellent and extremely well polished, helping contribute to a really isolating and engaing atmosphere. However the gameplay needs a lot more refinement with how it non-explicitly directs the player. Great job!
Enjoyable game! I really liked the distorted art style, would have been made even more effective with some equally distorted animations and a static overlay effect. Platforming for the most part felt nice and responsive, however I felt that you should have had it so that the jump height is influenced by how long you hold down the jump button. Level was also filled with exploits and shortcuts - it was very easy to skip out large chunks of the game and miss upgrades. Checkpoints also really need to be added, it was extremely frustrating to have to restart from the beginning each time. The scale and design of the level also suggests that the player would have more than one health, where some times it was very hard to predict what an enemy was about to do, and you would end up getting killed even though it was not your fault. There needs to be an in-game notice about the upgrade when you collect it too, including the controls and what it does. Overall well done, this was a lot of fun to play!
This is really good! I love the colourful visuals and the game concept is very innovative. There's a great risk vs reward system in place where getting a moon will increase your multiplier but put you at risk of it hitting one of the asteroids. Game feel was well done too; I love the screenshake and the visual effects for when a collision happens or when getting an asteroid. I feel that this game would be a lot better if there were sounds and music, as those would play in largely to the atmosphere of the game and also improve the game feel. Particle effects would also be great, such as having little pieces of rock release after a moon/asteroid collision, just to make the world feel more alive. Next time I'd suggest delegating more time towards those two things, as they have quite a significant positive influence on the final product. Overall, good job!
Interesting game, needs a lot of work though. I really liked the character art that was done, and the game concept was interesting! There is a lot of inconsistency with the visuals though, like how the ground is a completely different resolution to the character sprites. Keep it constant throughout the whole game. I'd also suggest adding circular shadows below charaters so that they stand out and feel more apart of the world. A more gradual difficulty curve needs to be added as well; as soon as you enter the world you are surrounded by enemies. It should be timed with the player's skill with the game, so have the player get familiar with the controls and movement before forcing them into using their skill to combat a challenge. When I was playing I never really understood the purpose of building shelters, either. Consider putting the player in a situation where they are encouraged into using the shelters, perhaps during combat, so that they learn through gameplay experience its importance. More visual and audible feedback can be added as well, maybe make the screen shake when shooting, or the player flash red when getting hit? Overall an okay game, but there's a lot of potential here! Looking forward to seeing your future projects. Well done! :)
Great work on the engine! However the game is a bit weak. The game objective of getting out of a randomly generated dungeon is interesting but wasn't expanded upon very much, it would have been interesting to have a basic lighting system that would hide certain parts of the map from the player, making the exploration more enjoyable. It could have also been more progressive, like having to collect a number of keys around the whole map before you can leave the dungeon, rather than being able to leave straight away. The pixel art characters look really out of place with the rest of the game world; the 3D rendering probably wasn't worth it, as I feel that you would have had a better looking game if everything was of a consistant flat pixel style. Map generation I thought was really well done though! Good job on getting a game and engine up for the jam! :)
This game is fantastic! It was all very polished and had an impressive amount of content. Models were colourful and very consistent in terms of scaling and form. Progression was satisfying, seeing your village grow in population and in productivity over time. A checklist system containing some of the objectives you mentioned in the description would be a great way of further improving this feedback, while also providing the player with explicit goals to reach. Some form of opposition against the population growth would also add a lot more challenge to the game, forcing the player into making interesting decisions to combat against these external conflicts (e.g. bad weather, other populations that grow as yours does, time.) Overall excellent work, this was a lot of fun to play!
Good game! Artwork is really nice and gameplay is enjoyable. Needs a lot more polish in some areas: getting damaged and also damaging an enemy felt a little weak, consider adding screenshake and particle effects to these actions. Enemies for the most part came off a bit damage spongey, and weren't much of a challenge to kill. You could just keep spam hitting them, which I believe resets their attack cooldown. They need more unique AI and movement patterns that provide a unique twist on the core gameplay verbs. Wasn't sure what I was meant to be doing in the game exactly, or what some of the UI and pickups meant to symbolise. Controls need to be listed on the hub screen, and many of the pickups need proper in-game explanations. Also consider adding a pitch randomiser onto some of the sounds so that there is a bit more variance. Circular shadows below characters would do a lot in improving the contrast between the characters and the ground. Overall this was a lot of fun to play, it just needs to communicate information to the player better.
Neat game idea! The mood was really quirky and built upon very well with the music and the colourful visuals. In terms of gameplay I feel that there was very little indication for a lot of systems in the game. When I shot the objects at the orc it was hard to tell if I had actually hit it, consider adding more visual feedback such as screenshake or making the orc flash red when being hit so that it is more obvious. There is also no indicator of progression in the game, so I had no idea if what I was doing was effective at completing the objective (killing the orc) or not. This can be fixed by adding some kind of health bar to the orc, or some other indicator as to their health, so that the player sees how well they are doing and if they need to change their strategy to kill the orc more efficiently. Art was decent however there was a lot of inconsistency; many sprites were of completely different resolutions to each other, like how the orc was high res and had smaller pixels while the tree and boulder sprites had larger ones. Make sure that it is kept consistent throughout the entirety of the game, for this inconsistency really hinders how the game looks aesthetically. Overall a really interesting game idea with some enjoyable gameplay, next time I would spend more time adding more visual and audible indicators (particle effects, as well) to the game and also polishing the artwork. Good work!
I loved this game, the amount of content you added is extremely impressive. World generation was interesting and enjoyable to explore, even if it was quite buggy in areas. I felt that the tiles were probably too small and therefore were a pain to mine individually. Trees are also really confusing, in that they look like they would be foreground objects yet they aren't. Perhaps make them darker? More visual and audible feedback could be added in various areas of the game, as hitting enemies and mining tiles sometimes feels quite weak. Gathering items was extremely satisfying due to the sound effects that play and the way the items swarm towards you. Consider adding flashing effects or screenshake when hitting an enemy or when the player gets damaged, as they will make the game a lot more enjoyable to play. If you ever plan on updating this game later on, I'd suggest elaborating upon the flag game concept, as that's ultimately the most interesting and unique element the game has. Overall well done, I really enjoyed this!
Good game! Great difficulty curve which escalates at a rate that keeps the player constantly challenged and engaged. Lighting effects are really nice and build up the atmosphere well. Game concept is also quite innovative! My main issue with the game is that there is a lack of visual and audible feedback to the player when certain things happen. Consider adding screenshake or screenfreeze when shooting a gun, killing an enemy, etc. There also needs to be stronger feedback to show when the player gets damaged; a lot of the time while playing I didn't even notice I had been hit. If you added a red flash onto the player when getting hit, or making the screen flash red, it would make it far more obvious and wouldn't require the player to shift their eyes onto the UI health bar. Sounds and particle effects can also accomplish things like this. A lot of the moves the player can do also feel really unpolished, particularily with the roll and the shooting. Overall, well done! It's got an enjoyable gameplay loop and a humorous and interesting game concept. Excited to see more games from you.
Simple and enjoyable game! Artwork was really nice and colourful, the UI was interesting as well. Loved the idea of having a bank rather than just a simple ammo count. For your next project I'd suggest elaborating upon the gameplay mechanics and systems a lot more, so that there is less repetition and more interesting gameplay. It got tedious after some time when I felt that I had learnt and experienced everything the game has to offer. Put the player in more interesting and naturally emerging situations so that they're constantly being challenged. More game feel elements similar to the particle effects would also be nice and make it a lot more enjoyable, consider things like screenshake and squash and stretch effects. Overall a solid game, well done!
Really interesting and unique, I love it when people make abstract games like these. Good work!
Really nice game! I absolutely loved the game concept, it was very innovative and expanded upon itself really well. The art was great, especially the background, and the music and sounds helped construct the mood very well. My main issue with the game is that there is very little feedback as to what is going on. For a long time I didn't even realise I had a healthbar, and didn't know that I was being damaged or if I was damaging an enemy. Consider adding more visuals for these actions, like having them flash red or having little particle effects shoot out. The control scheme was also a tiny bit confusing at first, but for the most part it was fine. Great job, this is a great entry.
(Based on the 1.1 version of the game)
Nice job! I thought the mood and art in this game were done excellently, the animations in the opening sequence were also very refined. I feel that the game could be a lot better had there been stronger indications for what different things represented and how they can be interacted with in gameplay. For example: the ghost enemies, with the game being a platformer, I naturally assumed that they could be jumped on and killed but ended up being incorrect. The level design in their introductory section also kind of enforced this, with it being highly claustrophobic and difficult to dodge them. There's obviously a lot of polish that needs to be done as well, for things such as the level/screen transitions and collisions. But either way, I really enjoyed this! Looking forward to playing more games from you.
I really liked this! The game concept is really original and well executed, the artwork is quite good and the music builds the epic and adventurous tone of the game effectively. However, I would have liked to have seen the upgrade progression in terms of player abilities be spread out over greater intervals throughout the entire game, rather than all at the start. It would have helped improve the interest curve quite a lot, for whenever the game starts to get boring a new ability or move would be introduced. It would also be great to see these moves, particularily the bow weapon, have a stronger influence on the core platforming gameplay. There seems to be a bit of a disconnect between the combat and platforming. Consider Mario for example, where the enemies in that game don't just act as roadblocks but instead serve the platforming gameplay, allowing Mario to sometimes jump on their heads for greater height, as an example. What if the bow and combat elaborated upon the core platforming gameplay? Or conversely, what if the platforming elaborated on the combat? Just some things to consider. Overall I thought this was really good, I love the tetris-style levels and unique game concept. Great job!
Excellent game man! Everything is very well-polished; the particle effects that release when moving around and landing for instance add so much life to the game. Artwork was great and very consistent throughout the entirety of the game. The music was almost unsettling, and when placed in combination with the sound effects were absolutely phenomenal in creating an atmosphere. The keyboard-mashing mechanic is effective and built around the intensity and chaos of the situation. As you've all ready gathered, the visual effects were definitely a little overkill and despite largely enhancing the intensity and sense of urgency, heavily intruded on the gameplay experience. The terminals were also a too visually hidden/ambiguous despite being objects of significance - perhaps they should be lighter and more eye-catching. Furthermore, you could have it so that there's some form of outline or highlight on them when touching to indicate that they're able to interacted with. Overall a really well-polished and unique experience, great work!
Very cool game! Artwork is well-chosen and the concept is quite unique. Sound effects especially are really effective in creating an atmosphere and providing game feel, even if the swing sounds are a bit too frequent and blended together. The difficulty could have been a bit more consistent though, some levels were empty and others were filled with hordes. Great job!
Neat game! The art was consistent and the music fit the isolating and distanced atmosphere quite well. The mechanics, albeit imbalanced, were relatively well-polished and enjoyable. Some more game feel elements might add a lot to the game, e.g. screenshake. Well done!
Nice game! Great artwork, even if a little bit inconsistent and unpolished in some areas. The music is simple and blends with the tone of the game well. The gameplay is quite enjoyable and the difficulty curve escalates quite well. More polish, more visual indicators and more game feel elements would go a long way in enhancing the game. Good work!
Interesting game! The choice of music is nice and the writing is really well done. I'd love to see this expanded on!
Great concept! The gameplay loop is simple yet quite addictive, the sound effects definitely add quite a bit to the feel of the game. The movement could have used a bit of work, especially given that it's the core verb of the game. Overall well done!
Interesting take on the theme, and some well executed and simple gameplay mechanics! Could be expanded upon further through better game feel/details. Good work!
Great work! It's like three games in one, but they still feel interconnected through the looping concept. The art was excellent too. Keep it up!
Very nice game! Quite challenging the concept was interesting.
Cool game! UI and graphics are a bit messy though. Objective was clearly communicated well! Good work. :)
