Babies! Babies! Babies! by Local Minimum 2017-12-06T21:40:58Z

I played on Firefox 57 using A/D/Ctrl/Space and stopped at the door with the sign "Fertility Clinic" after 5 tries.

In no particular order:

- I'll make nightmares tonight. - Music and sounds fit the global aesthetic, a stronger feedback on babies burning in flames would be nice. - Graphics are exceptionals, I just wished there were something else as a coffee icon. - I'm gonna be a bit brutal on this point: horizontal movement controls were bad. Is this a bug? Every KeyDown event of D the character goes back left for 1 second and then go right. This was hugely frustrating during the jumping sequences. - I was happy to find the path on the roofs as a small alternative.

Globally I finished frustrated but I really enjoyed the aesthetics and the humor.

**EDIT**

I made few more tests to see if the movement problem was a bug and it's a weird one. I restarted my computer, cleared the cache of Windows, Firefox and UnityWebGL and the bug was still here. Then I tried using Chrome 62 and the bug disappeared.

The weird part is that I have played 2 other games in WebGL so far and "Leader's guidance" doesn't have this bug but "Beer O' Clock" has a similar problem where Up & Left are constantly activated on Firefox but not on Chrome.

@jack-maxwell I think a bit of auto-aim would help (with the option to switch it on) but it was far out of scope of this jam :D

@parker8283 I tried to download the 4 builds right now and everything works fine. The website isn't down either. I can think of 2 problems to look at: 1. Maybe it comes from your browser? Try with another one (currently I'm using Firefox 57 on Windows 10) 2. I host my website at OVH Paris datacenter, maybe there's a problem of distribution specific to your region (you're using a proxy or there's some places not covered by OVH). That said, I never had any feedback of OVH blacklisting geographical zones or proxies but if it's the case I'm sincerely sorry as I've got no control over this.

@exnihilo Thanks for the feedback, I will rework the hues to mark the difference.

@awerar The difficulty is clearly off (my bad :p). For the art I only did the smileys and rotate sprites. - Beers: James Cabello (https://thekingphoenix.deviantart.com/) - Input mapping icons: Nicolae Berbece (https://twitter.com/xelubest) - Everything else: Kenney Vleugels (http://kenney.nl/)

BeerFight! by happysloth 2017-12-07T21:02:12Z

@peach-pie-productions I started my design by thinking about the platforms I would target and a possible port to Android was in the list: that's one of the reason why I chose a vertical layout for the game space.

@thijs-tak Thanks for the feedback, I think I'll decrease the drinking time of customers and encourage use of beers bouncing on walls (in the manner of Bust-a-move).

@fluidvolt Thank you, I'm glad that you enjoyed throwing beers everywhere :)

@local-minimum Thanks for your time. The different kind of glasses is a really good idea!

I totally aggree with you on the game interface and feedbacks, I messed my time schedule and they came far too late in the project.

I too find that moving the waiter / make special throws would complicate the controls more than they already are, I think that solution lies in making the beers bounce against walls with predictable angles and reworking level design and game balance.

BeerFight! by happysloth 2017-12-10T10:36:50Z

@megalink Thanks for your feedback, I wanted the game to be challenging but accessible for everyone "Easy to learn but hard to master". It'll definitively go through a balancing phase though. :)

@wowa Good remark. On PC I'll consider locking & hiding the cursor, it could open the possibility of a 'sniper' bonus displaying the trajectory of the beer for a limited time.

@joror In the balance skill / luck I prefered to tip it a bit in direction of luck: this game has a second theme of 'chaos' and an absolute perfect play wouldn't fit this perspective (and maybe cut a part of the humor). Sorry for the ergonomic keyboard, didn't see that coming. ;D

@prodigalson

I'm right-handed and did not design specifically for one hand but I can see why you feel like this: the mouse isn't that much sollicited due to the field being narrow, putting an emphasis on throwing beer buttons.

Sorry for the ergonomic keyboard, I chose GHJK to cover AZERTY & QWERTY keyboards at once. I'll add a key remapping interface in input settings to solve that.

You're totally right that this game should be on phone using taps & swipes, my inclusion of android as a target has really affected all places of the design more than I anticipated. This will be an excellent occasion to learn mobile development for me but a 1st version won't see the day before few months.

@sgadrat Thank you that's kind! I'm gonna juice this game to death ;p

Black Hole Star by wowa 2017-12-07T12:35:10Z

I played on Windows 10 and reached the 12 stars at the 3rd try.

- Graphics & audio are truely awesome. - Controls are smooth. - Death is unforgiving, losing all stars is really frustrating epsecially when you don't anticipate the black hole apparition under your feet. Maybe only losing half of the stars or a fixed number would be more encouraging to retry? - On the first launch I had a bug with resolution, it displayed in 1920x1080 without going full screen and no way to resize it. It may be a problem with the cached data on my computer but still I don't think that absolutely enforcing a resolution without asking the user for permission is a good idea. - By the way, in this resolution the black rectangle limits were visible and I could see the game space overflowing on the left and the right.

Globally I enjoyed those few minutes of play and would love to see this extended upon and more polished. :)

Beer O' Clock by krammetje 2017-12-06T23:18:44Z

I played on Firefox 57 and stopped after 4 minutes.

It's gonna be hard to add something to what have already been said but here's a try ;p

- I aggree with comments above about the drinking FX, the pleasant global mood and I also noticed some hitboxes problems on punches (given and received). - I would really love to see a fully featured version of this game, it reminded me of Shank. It would benefit to have one or two more basic attacks and a simple combo system with a wide variety of ennemy patterns but keeping all of this inside the small space of the bar :) - There's a bug under Firefox 57 that disappeared when I tried with Chrome 62: it seems that the W & A keys are always kept down in the fight scene but not on the menu. I had the same kind of bug while playing "Babies! Babies! Babies!" but not with "Leader's guidance" that also use UnityWebGL. - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/babies-babies-babies - https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/leaders-guidance

Globally I appreciated my time on the game (especially the feedback) and would love to see a more complete version!

Double comment and I can't delete this one, sorry ;'(

RAILWAY by lukbebalduke 2017-12-07T14:09:51Z

First of all, I have a hard time believing you made this in the compo track, this is crazy. And there's no bugs!

Some concrete thoughts: - I'm sure you played to Train Valley, I think the pause function is vital to this type of game because without it it's impossible to play more than 2:45 to 3:00 minutes consecutively. Part of the joy (in my opinion of course) resides in watching the trains cross the map (more like toys). - Having icons to represent speed, mass and destination of the train would be better than numbers and colors. For the colors of destination, there's not enough variation between them and this may prevent colorblind people to play your game (everybody should play this game ;)). - A restart function on a shortcut or on a pause menu would be nice, I did close and open 4 times the game while learning the details to try an optimal play.

Globally I'm impressed and I really appreciated playing this game :)

Greedy Robot Fight by rodel77 2017-12-07T21:54:48Z

That's my favorite game so far.

Here's a list of things I would love to see in a more complete version (that I would pay for) - Disable the robot AI to let a 2nd player take the place in hotseat style. - Possibility to end a turn without using all actions. (though being forced to use them all is interesting too) - More variety in level composition. - Control of the music volume. (being able to cut it completely ;x)

This game somehow reminded me of Bomberman if it were turn-based.

Good As Gold by ProdigalSon 2017-12-07T23:58:42Z

As everyone my very first action was to take a bath of gold before realizing that all those years of videogames taught me avidity. :D

It's a simple yet effective gameplay, I like games with strong puzzle components and some action/platform elements. I can see me playing a complete version of this on my 3DS while on the move.

And the gold effect on the character is awesome so I tried to play the whole level at only one coin from game over but it's really hard. :)

Leader's guidance by ExNihilo 2017-12-06T20:46:13Z

I played the WebGL port on Firefox 57 and stopped at the "bring 3 steel bars" rule.

In no particular order:

- "The more rules you have, the worse it is" is a really good answer to the theme. - Reusing the same level with different rules to force different paths through it is a good thing, but I used the same path (the higher platforms) after the 2nd rule and it killed nearly every rules. Preventing a "one solution for all problems" case would be more interesting. - I found the controls a bit rough, this is a very personal opinion: I have hard times with platformers using pixel perfect jumps / movements and not physics-based. - Graphics fit the theme of the game.

Globally I'm impressed by how much you accomplished in 48H and most of my complaints are based on the fact that you didn't had time to polish.

Delicious Colors by XavierSeal 2017-12-07T00:22:35Z

I played 5 minutes, best score : 16.

I'll try to add something to what has already been said ;p - I aggree with comments above about the awesome graphics and liquid physics, the wine colors that are not visible enough and the drunk effect too violent. - I genuinely had a small headache caused by playing your game in full screen, so GG I guess? - The tutorial should also teach the "Chose" action, it's confusing to have it displayed but having no feedback at all on wether it does something or not. Though, I'm happy that there's a tutorial, it's rare to find one in game jams due to time.

Globally it wasn't a mountain of fun but it's fairly polish and can be extended easily.

Get Rich or Sink by Time Loop 2017-12-07T16:08:56Z

It took me approximately 6 minutes to buy a new boat without buying anything else, I saw only half of the map I think (I never needed to go past the 1st 2 patrolling boats with a giant crab going up & down).

- Graphics are nice, especially the characters and the boats. - The introduction is really funny. - Music is sympathetic but quite repetitive on the long run. - The boat has the same controls as a car with very bad adherence. At one point I nearly spent 20 seconds going in circle around a chest. Most people don't think that a boat can go in reverse so it might help to remove the ability to go backward. (still "Astern propulsion" seems to be a thing, I discovered that 5 minutes ago, link below)

Globally this was pleasant to play though the level design don't encourage you to explore. With more polish it could be really enjoyable :D
