LD23 — Tiny World

It's a tiny world by Endurion 2012-05-12T11:05:00

Fun game! Reminds me of a more arcadeish desktop dungeons :)

ineptia by Sodaware 2012-05-11T14:44:00

The graphics are great and the interface worked well, all I missed was an undo. My only gripe with the game was that although programming robots seems cool, I'm not sure if it added a lot to the fun of this game, I think it would have been more engaging if it had been real time.

Good job for 48 hours work, you even have different modes, most people don't even have a splash screen at the beginning :)

Asylum by Orni 2012-05-12T10:42:00

Wow, I have a feeling sound and music would make this game twice as good. You have a very good mood going on and sweet graphics, but not much in the way of gameplay. I would consider shortening the intro sequence before the monster a bit too, it was pretty long. Other than that, very good job!

ONLY US by Datamosh 2012-04-25T17:55:00

Very cool mood, sound and graphics. I liked the exploration mechanic too, although it can feel a bit "grindy" after a while. Very good entry!

Conqueror by Hume 2012-04-23T11:30:00

Forcing you to restart from the very beginning after failing a level sadly stopped me from finishing the game :P

Tinysasters by Volute 2012-05-11T15:01:00

Cool game! I played on hard but it didn't seem that hard to get a level 4 shrine though. Good job!

Phobius by deejorg 2012-05-10T15:35:00

Pretty cool idea! I liked the way the room "closed in on you" when you transformed. The collision detection seemed off in a lot of places though, which made it a bit less enjoyable than it would have been otherwise.

Run, Unicorn, Run! by fprawn 2012-05-11T18:03:00

Great graphics! I wish there was a score or timer or something so I could have something to shoot for in later playthroughs.

Rubiq's Garden by youdonotexist 2012-04-23T14:26:00

Nice game. Like the main mechanic, was it inspired by the Labyrinth board game by any chance?

Tiny World Big War by dx0ne 2012-05-10T15:59:00

War is pointless indeed. This game really got your point across. And it had some interesting gameplay as well.

Box by eShredder 2012-04-23T15:18:00

Nice game, I liked it, but making you restart from the very beginning is really annoying when you get further into the game, especially when there are puzzles you have to execute fast next to lava :O

Greed Wars by IgnatusZuk 2012-05-10T20:24:00

Very, very good entry. I like it a lot, and I certainly see myself coming back to this one. Great job!

Where Are You Teddy? by keebus 2012-04-25T20:42:00

Very cool, love the graphics and the mood. The gameplay is also pretty good, although the sometimes I felt there were some cheap deaths. Very fast respawn time was a good call!

Laser Coin Planets by mortehu 2012-04-30T23:20:00

Very good entry! I liked that the enemies didn't kill me and force me to start over, maybe it would be just as fun as an explorational game without enemies?

Recluse by chambers 2012-05-10T15:46:00

This game rocked! The only problem I had with it was the enemies, it felt like they were there just "because". I think this game would have been just as interesting if it was just exploring this world without the hassle of having to restart from the last checkpoint. Yes I died at the end. Several times :P
Couldn't bring myself to give it less than a 5 for fun anyway though :)

Microscopia by azurenimbus 2012-05-12T10:51:00

Very cool idea! Never seen anything like it before!

muniverse by namuol 2012-05-11T14:23:00

Very ambitious entry, and in a more polished form I can see this game being very addictive :) Good job for only 48 hours!

To What a Mountain? by cageinabird 2012-05-10T15:52:00

This is the funniest game so far :D

Little City by dustmyte 2012-05-05T11:39:00

Love it!

Nook by PoV 2012-05-03T19:05:00

Wow! Super polished entry. Will be back later to collect all the stars!

Memento XII by deepnight 2012-05-12T11:08:00

Very polished entry, but it can be pretty frustrating, just like the old school adventure games. And the hint system isn't always up to date on what you did last I think, I kept getting hints to do things I had just done.

Hamster Damn by Valandre 2012-04-25T18:21:00

Very slick for 48 hours. I like it a lot, when I understood that I had to run up there and "feed" the sun the concept made a whole lot more sense too. Throw some other objects in there and you can have your self a very addictive little game!

Another Kind of World by daandruff 2012-05-10T20:38:00

Nice entry. I'm not sure I really like the bomb throwing mechanic, it was very hard to hit what you were aiming for, but the graphics and music were very nice.

Tiny Quest by Kvisle 2012-04-23T14:37:00

Love the gameboy graphics! And cool progression throughout, short and sweet without any frustrating parts.

Tiny Domination by Daz 2012-05-10T16:30:00

Very cool game, a bit easy when you got it, but it was a lot of fun!

My Little Planetoid by matthias_zarzecki 2012-05-10T20:46:00

Pretty cool. I like how you took the time to make a 3D game given it's only 48 hours!

Gravity Sucks [WEB] by Nocturne 2012-04-25T19:33:00

Cool first time entry. I like this idea but would have liked to see some more elements introduced after a while. Good stuff, and impressive for 48 hours!

Angle Isle by Rusty Moyher 2012-05-11T14:54:00

I like it a lot. Surprisingly cool gameplay when you are limited to 4 flaps. I like the graphics style too, overall very nice entry. 100% in about 4 minutes :D

Bottlecolonies by tcstyle 2012-05-12T10:16:00

Very cool. This graphical style really worked well, and the whole "handmade" feeling even came through in the music. Well done!

Space Bear by madflame991 2012-05-11T14:35:00

I love how bizarre it is, but the game design could use some work. Running out of oxygen after hunting stars for long time is VERY frustrating, especially considering how much time you spend just traveling around. The rest is just super weird, in a good way :)

Slime Buster Micro by brenthamel 2012-04-30T08:50:00

Nice entry in 48 hours, but the bullet mechanics could have used more work. Those bullets were moving slower than you did when you're running, that was super awkward. I liked the upgrading progression, it was nice.

Some of the platforming was also pretty frustrating :P
The graphics were very cool!

Zephyr by cadin 2012-05-10T20:29:00

Very polished entry, and VERY good sound and music. Best sound and music I've seen in the whole competition so far! Great mood and graphics too.

Frustrating Tiny Rooms by PapyPilgrim 2012-05-11T18:14:00

The puzzle mechanic is cool, but I've seen it somewhere else before. The tiles that mess up your keys are a nice touch, although it was a bit hard to understand how they were remapped. Fun game!

IÄTI by gnx 2012-04-25T17:38:00

Interesting idea! I like how it feels like a tetris game where you are creating (and sometimes destroying) life :)

This Precious Land by Ishisoft 2012-05-05T11:32:00

I fooled around with it for some time, but I didn't fall in love with the mechanic. It just felt a bit too complex to do what you wanted to do :P
It seems like I'm the only one though, and it was very polished for an LD entry. Good job!

Pogo Planet by ExciteMike 2012-05-11T14:14:00

Very cool idea, but it would be great if it had an ending. I got pretty discouraged by resetting at checkpoints after one hit from enemies. I think this concept has a lot of promise.

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

Someone is in the house! by Datamosh 2014-12-22T01:29:00

Very scary atmosphere, you really pulled off the horror movie vibe! The game can feel a bit unfair sometimes, as you have very little indication if the killer is close by on some of the hiding places, but at the same time it adds to the atmosphere that the killer can sort of "appear out of nowhere" as they tend to do in the movies. Nice job!

Atticus VII by Deconstructeam 2014-12-19T16:08:00

Great job! I especially enjoyed the music, very FTL-esque, and the plot, which was very intriguing. It seemed like it would be interesting to have some more stuff to juggle at the same time, most of the time I didn't use all the actions on my turn. Will be playing this one until I solve it I think :)

Leaving by My Sweet Whomp 2014-12-16T12:13:00

Very cool entry. A bit slow paced, but it kept me interested until I collected everything!

Cell 09 by 01010111 2014-12-16T16:13:00

Great little action game, reminds me a bit of the Vlambeer style of gameplay, although I'm not sure I like the idea that you have to start over each time you die.

Test subject #4218 by Domantas 2014-12-08T18:11:00

Great puzzle game, and I love the way the tiles flip to rearrange the room, it really adds a lot! Would have loved to see some more work on the audio, to really sell the creepy Portal vibe.

Shellshock by madlee 2014-12-16T17:55:00

Interesting puzzle game, really like the idea, and the fact that it's a shell script game you only control with the mouse, paradoxically :D

Fragile Ninja by ShadowBrain 2014-12-08T18:27:00

Pretty fun game, but I wish the controls were a bit tighter. Really liked the beheading animation!

Entertainment Software for Lonely Children by folmerkelly 2014-12-08T12:27:00

This game feels meaningful. Great mood.

Serenity by rxi 2014-12-16T14:20:00

Great sound, graphics and sense of mood!

Blue Cave by NuSan 2014-12-08T08:51:00

Cool idea!
Controlling the flail was a bit tricky though, and when you got a lot of them it got harder to climb to the top platforms since at least one of them tended to get stuck underneath the platform you were on.

Princess Saving Princes by Fnkee 2014-12-08T16:31:00

Awesome! The Game and Watch is strong in this one. When is the handheld coming out?

Twisted Chamber by egor-idiot 2014-12-29T06:03:00

It looks great, and the game is a lot of fun. I wish the controls felt a little bit more tight, not as floaty, and I really felt like the saws falling from the ceiling were unfair, especially as they seemed to fall at random places, and were not fixed from playthrough to playthrough.

S by Lars Faust 2014-12-08T13:57:00

First of all, really polished game! Love the graphics and the music.
Now for some critique: it feels a little bit random at times, and with no way of penalizing the player if they don't optimize for points (except for the ending score) the appeal was a bit limited for me. I see that there's a certain element of trying to deduce the neighboring tiles ala minesweiper, but in the end I got a bit indifferent and just filled in all the remaining tiles. Feels like with a bit of work it could be an interesting resource gathering mini-game inside a bigger game or something.

The Broadenlands by Wolve 2014-12-13T13:55:00

Very cool entry. Love what you did with the theme, and the premise was very interesting, nice little story to it.

The Battle of Yelms Keep by martymon 2014-12-08T11:17:00

Love the cutout look of the enemies and the fact that your projectiles ricochet.
Maybe you could have worked some more on the "feel" of the shooting, I feel like getting incrementally closer to the goal after subsequent shots could be made easier by some more feedback.

The Last Room by Lissar 2014-12-09T07:25:00

Really like this game, had to play it twice to see if I missed something. Very nice mood and art!

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-08T12:39:00

Great main mechanic! Lots of interesting possibilities for puzzle solving, and the introduction of new items and harder puzzles felt just right.

Spiral Wings by Joe Williamson 2014-12-16T21:21:00

Awesome mood, graphics and sound. Would have loved a longer experience, chasing down some prey, fighting some enemies. Super Spiral Wings? Please?

Republik Power & Light by JavadocMD 2014-12-17T06:23:00

Pretty cool idea, I just wished there were some more actions you could take and maybe some more explanation of how the different levels (coolant, capacity etc) affected each other.

Microphyla by 7Soul 2014-12-16T17:48:00

Pretty cool, I like how you unlock the level using your gun like that. Felt like the mechanics could be a bit snappier, the boss was pretty frustrating, I felt like your jump was pretty slow which made it more difficult to dodge stuff.

Winter is Nigh! by MaesK 2014-12-22T21:00:00

This game could really benefit from some more feedback, screenshake when you're hit, more hit effects when bullets hit the enemies etc, as well as more refined controls. The enemy behaviour is also pretty uninteresting, it seems like they are just moving straight towards you with different max velocities, some of them jumping at different intervals.

endless rules by dunin 2014-12-19T12:53:00

Cool concept! Really like the "add more rules as you go" idea, although some of the rules ended up being pretty frustrating at times. I thought especially the one where you ban a direction, and when you force the player to take more steps in one direction than the other were very annoying, since they could directly stop you from progressing for some time. Nice job!

Oscillation by MaddeMichael 2014-12-09T09:06:00

Cool little metroidvania. Impressed by the scope of what you managed to put together! A little bit too much backtracking made it a bit frustrating at times, especially when you missed jumps and had to climb all the way to the top again.

birdsong by managore 2014-12-09T11:24:00

Wow. That last trial. Mind blown! Just the idea of a Metroidvania with the map already revealed and on screen at all times is genius.
The only criticism I can think of is that some people might be put off by the difficulty, but that is clearly their own problem. Wouldn't be surprised to see you win this one as well :D

Man on the Field by Double Zero One Zero 2014-12-08T17:36:00

This entry looks and sounds great, reminds med of Papers Please, but I really didn't think the music matched the atmosphere very much which was a bit disappointing.

EtiChopper by efux 2014-12-08T08:35:00

Great that you decided to participate, this is a great way to improve your game creation skills!

I would suggest not letting the player move off screen at all, right now if you disappear offscreen you have no point of reference, and don't know if you're moving back towards the screen or away from it.
I would also have added in some friction, causing the chopper to stop after some time if you stop holding the forward arrow.
I like the programmer art and good use of sound too!

Super Cave In by sputnik 2014-12-08T16:24:00

Really cool entry, graphics and audio is great.
Only criticism: I felt like I could get into a game state that left the game unwinnable where I'm not able to reach the yellow bricks up top due to poor drilling on my part and unfortunate placement of blocks.

Blipt in the Dark by PurpleApes 2014-12-22T18:16:00

This feels very unpolished right now, the collision detection is very hard to grasp, there's no feedback when you take damage, and no real explanation when you are able to switch between layers. It's also really dark, which makes it tough to see the enemies before you are almost on top of them.

Mutton Mower by comatomatoes 2014-12-08T08:43:00

Funny idea, I love fact that you feel like a farmer just running frantically around pushing sheep out of the flower bushes.
I think the game could have used a tell that shows whether a sheep is going to "attack" a bush a little in advance. As it is now it feels totally random to the player if the sheep is moving towards a bush or not. I also wouldn't have created the first level with bushes in each corner, AND a big patch in the middle to defend. Give us an easy level in the beginning, so we feel like we understand how it works before we lose!

Coinarium by Dohxis 2014-12-22T18:22:00

Pretty fun game. I think it could have been a bit more engaging if the enemy lines didn't move as uniformly, and you had a little bit more control over your jumps. Right now it just feels like you die because the jumps are hard to control, not because the lines are difficult to dodge. I wish it were the other way around :)

2.5Dino Arena by loopinlouie 2014-12-11T13:54:00

Pretty cool game! Some thoughts: The controls and feedback you got when being hit etc. felt a bit loose to me, and the waves didn't feel like they were getting harder fast enough, the game sort of dragged on a bit instead of getting gradually more and more exciting. With some tighter feedback and control and better pacing of the waves this would have been hard to put down!

WoRMWOOD by krighxz 2014-12-08T11:35:00

Very psychedelic!
I think more enemies at the same time or hazards that can't be shot at would give the player more incentive to move around. Right now it looked like it was better to just stand still and turn around while shooting the enemies.

Twisted Fantasie by wandersenus 2014-12-08T09:35:00

I like the music and sound, but this game has big communication problems. I really don't understand what is happening, my objective or how I win or lose even after I read the instructions.

Trapped by theshadowteam 2014-12-09T09:14:00

So much trial and error! The mood is good, but the items are hard to read and even know if you can interact with, and a lot of the times interacting with an object sends you back to the beginning due to dying or some hidden passageway. Giving clearer indication to players of what will happen when interacting with stuff would help a lot.

Everything Wanna Escape From Screen by morshues 2014-12-08T16:06:00

The audio is pretty good!
I feel like the game sort of boiled down to picking chickens from the point where they almost escaped the screen back to the beginning again and again and again. Would be great with a couple of other mechanics that mixed it up a bit.

<HexaMem> by Phask 2014-12-08T11:24:00

Interesting memory game. Maybe have a timer that determines how long you have to prepare for each round? Now I feel like the best way to beat it is to create an optimal route and write it down, which I guess isn't the intent.

Main Menu Fighter by Legiion 2014-12-08T18:19:00

This game would have greatly benefited from some more juice, explosions when you kill enemies, sound effects etc.

I recommend this talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJdEqssNZ-U

ROCKROCKET by Backterria 2014-12-20T16:40:00

Great entry. I also had some problems finding my avatar at first, but after I understood it I was hooked. Love games where you have to understand you objective as you're playing, the mood and sense of mystery in this game was great!

Maze of Doom by cyrixd 2014-12-11T15:41:00

Nice idea, it works pretty well.
Would have loved to see harder dungeons as you progressed somehow, right now it feels like they are all randomized in the same manner.

The Unexpected Adventures Of Doctor Supertronic Flying Machine. by Shampop 2014-12-08T17:40:00

Pretty funny game! Definitely a game with high "just one more time"-factor. Had some laughs when books came flying at me due to hitting something on the other side of the room :D

Seaweed oh Seaweed by eruditespirit 2014-12-08T16:02:00

Jesus, I wish I had 0.3 more seconds per move or something, it's so hard! Right now it feels like rock paper scissors, I'm guessing more than I'm reacting to the text.

BMQ by stalker1586 2014-12-09T07:19:00

I really wish the speed was a lot higher, movement feels very slow and sluggish.

Window Rogue by Scrapworks 2014-12-09T08:44:00

Cool game, but it seems like it's kind of poorly balanced, and issue I've struggled with too when I try to do procedural upgrade-based gameplay in such a short time frame. Right now it feels like you max out your powers way too fast, and it makes it trivial to kill the enemies by just spamming the attack button. I also question giving the player back all his health at the beginning of each level, resource management is a big part of most roguelikes, and be regaining all health on each floor you're kind of removing it from the equation.

Shooting Things in Space by oatsbarley 2014-12-17T06:28:00

I had problems understanding how the resources connected to the rest of the game, and what the objective was. Liked the look and feel of the ship you were controlling!

Screencap'd by Avant-Marde 2014-12-10T09:24:00

Great entry! Both the game mechanics and the puzzles are a lot of fun, and the difficulty curve and the pacing is well done! One of the best entries I've played so far.

Only criticisms I have: Would have loved to have a little higher walk speed, it felt a bit sluggish.

One Screen by yosh 2014-12-08T08:55:00

I like it, although I didn't get to the end. Got curious though. What does spacebar do!?

Pengie by GeorgeBroussard 2014-12-15T06:30:00

Fun little action game! A little bit too similar to Mario Bros maybe, but fun and good looking entry!

Orion by feiss 2014-12-08T16:15:00

Wow, great entry. Really loved the atmosphere. Wish there was more of it, would love to land on Mars :D

LD32 — An Unconventional Weapon

Machine Kiss by Cell 2015-04-21T17:21:00

Really love the look of this, and interesting way to look at the theme! I realize that balancing a game like this in 48 hour is quite a monumental task, but right now it feels a little bit underdeveloped. All the cards seem well thought out and fun to play with, but the resource system (if there is any?) and card drawing needs a bit of work for it to retain player interest beyond a couple of plays. Good job though!

Roll Initiative by Lynx 2015-04-20T05:15:00

Very good looking entry! Would be fun if it was more to the game than just rolling one die, maybe rolling combinations of 2 dice would lead to more "strategic" decisions? Now the dominant strategy seems to be to roll the die with the least sides that has the closest enemies number on it. Good game though, I think with some work this could be a lot of fun. I got in the zone for a bit there! :)
