LD29 — Beneath the Surface

our god lives underground by Andrew Shouldice 2014-04-29T05:55:00

Really loved the mood and atmosphere. Great use of postprocessing to nail the ambience, the music was very eerie and mysterious. I'd love to see this aesthetic composition combined with some kind of simple, driving mechanic.

The Valley Rule by Raiyumi 2014-05-06T06:52:00

Loved it. Your group made an awesome platformer game :) Very good quality and polish to this.

unTouchable by Ekanaut 2014-04-28T04:23:00

Very nice modelling and aesthetic style, with good ambient music. It feels unfortunate there's no goal using the mechanics as far as they were developed, though!

SUNK by GeorgeBroussard 2014-05-07T05:21:00

A well-polished game with a simple yet challenging mechanic driving it.

Hare's Harvest by mtrc 2014-04-28T03:55:00

A fun 8-bit style game, cute idea with a nice story and thoughtful game mechanics and level design. A good effort on that front for 48 hours!

SWIM HARD by Spierek 2014-04-30T15:23:00

A nice game that's scoped well and pretty polished for a jam. Really fun :)

Kitsuni by SecondDimension 2014-04-29T16:31:00

A lovely game, with brilliant origami / paper cutout style graphics. The ambience is best of all.

Temple of Ra by Split82 2014-04-28T03:04:00

Holy crap, just... wow! I love the graphics, sound, and gameplay. Really nice effort!

Surface Dwellers and Pit People by Joseph Miller 2014-04-28T04:18:00

A nice idea, the gameplay gets pretty frantic (and fun!) once the little guys start piling up onto each other and you need to start thinking of how to juggle them across platforms. Good effort for the time you had available to put into it.

Escape the cavern by Titi_Alone 2014-05-02T04:28:00

A nice idea behind this game, though it'd be good to check if a key is held down, rather than waiting for the operating system to emulate repeating keyhits from the user holding the key down. Well done for trying a LD with HTML5 though!

Sneak-Easy by allurious 2014-04-28T09:57:00

The music and art style are really great. Loving the caricature of early 1920s restaurants :)

Totems by Brian Stegmann 2014-04-28T04:41:00

A really nice idea for this game. It'd be great if the graphics were equally awesome - I get a feeling that this idea worked a little further could be as cool as Journey.

lightness of being by nesis 2014-04-28T03:21:00

Thanks for checking out my entry - a lot of this game's metaphor emerged during development. Amongst other things, the thought of it mimicking eternal recurrence did cross my mind!

lightness of being by nesis 2014-04-28T04:26:00

Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Frantic gameplay + an easy to understand message was exactly what I was going for with this game :)

lightness of being by nesis 2014-04-28T09:59:00

Was it issues loading the game to start with? I've noticed that with Unity web :( Thanks for checking it out though!

lightness of being by nesis 2014-04-29T01:18:00

Thanks for checking out my game guys, I'm glad you liked it!

Feedback on typing a word right would be a good idea.

lightness of being by nesis 2014-04-30T12:29:00

@nonentheless Thanks for giving it another try. As far as I can tell, it's an issue with Unity web player in some browsers - you need to resize the browser, which somehow refreshes the player and gets it to start receiving input and start updating the game properly.

lightness of being by nesis 2014-05-01T09:55:00

Mmm, I definitely need to add different difficulties. Drop the speed words fall at, and make them appear less frequently. Thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Mine Explorer by Joe Williamson 2014-04-28T03:14:00

Good, simple game. I like the art and music the most :) It'd be cool to see this as a more developed platformer! The idea of delving down into new cave rooms to implicitly start a new "level" and set a new spawn point is a cool one.

Beneath the Surface by msminotaur 2014-04-29T16:33:00

Creepy! But I like that about it, the eerie art, music, and story go hand in hand.

(Wow, I just noticed I'm the second person to start off their comment with "Creepy!"...)

Pearl Dive by ethankennerly 2014-05-02T04:36:00

A challenging, fun game. Simple mechanics behind it, but a real blast.

Clarity by aburkenstein 2014-04-29T06:19:00

Nice mood, and intriguing atmosphere to this game. I was a little unclear about whether I'd collected all I needed for a given level.

Unique Name For A Game by Tesrym 2014-04-29T06:30:00

A good effort with the modelling, but I can see how you've over-scoped. Better luck next time!

Beneath The Surface by adamwoolridge 2014-04-28T03:19:00

A novel idea, and a nice touch that you learn to rotate in the opposite direction to the planet's spheres to more quickly get to the cannons. Nice retro vector-ish look, too :)

Shark Feast by carrier_signal 2014-05-03T16:11:00

A fun, simple game fitting the theme. Audio was pretty loud!

Covered by indigofiz 2014-05-03T15:56:00

A solid, simple game with a reliable mechanic. Nice straightforward interpretation of the theme.

Gray Surface by Geckoo1337 2014-04-28T02:59:00

Not a bad game for the amount of time you had! The visuals are quite nice, and the music is good. A little bit frustrating that I keep dying from cubes spawning on me, but hey :p (Scores I gave were compared to a full 48 hour effort, for fairness with effort put in for other submissions.)

Submersion by superzac 2014-04-28T02:51:00

Not a bad idea, but it's unfortunate how easy it is to get stuck on the walls / get stuck gradually rotating in some direction :(

Sun Fusion by NoorStudios 2014-04-29T15:52:00

A novel game, though somewhat confusing to figure out. Things don't seem to behave consistently, or perhaps I'm just not understanding how they're meant to behave and how my control of them influences that behaviour.

Amazing! Beneath The Surface by nonetheless 2014-04-28T15:35:00

The graphics and idea are pretty neat, though I've gotta agree with the sounds being ouchy. It'd be good to know what direction hits are coming from, though I guess that's part of the challenge.

60 Seconds and a Wake Up by CayoDaves 2014-04-28T03:38:00

A good, simple retro pixel game. Your visual style and animations work well with the SFXR-style sounds. I'm at a loss at how to use the fire extinguisher, though...

Drowning in Problems by Notch 2014-05-01T08:44:00

I love the idea, and the time waiting just gets you thinking and contemplating it all. Pretty cool. I'm just wanting to see a Driver's Licence [0%] somewhere... :p

Dungeon Jelly by Detocroix 2014-04-28T02:45:00

A nice idea for this game with really pretty graphics and animations. I'm still a little confused about how to successfully hit other jellies - sometimes it works, other times we end up on the same tile. I'd love to see what the final boss looks like...

Orbital Burrow by Make A Game 2014-05-03T16:00:00

Solid, fun game with plenty of polish. A lot of work must've been put into this!

Super Stomp Combo by Carduus 2014-04-28T04:11:00

Not a bad job with the enemy scripting, especially considering it was your first time. The controls were a little confusing for telling the difference between when you'll swing your sword vs shoot, but once I realised you can hover and shoot down forever by hitting spacebar, that didn't matter so much :p

Zits! by davidwparker 2014-05-01T16:03:00

Not bad for 5ish hours work.

Searching Beneath the Surface by Indie Squid 2014-04-28T02:30:00

Nice graphics, good work on the textures in such a short time. Ambience would be even cooler with more underwater ruins, if you're wanting to pick this up and work on it after the jam.

Arctic Antics by Miltage 2014-04-29T15:33:00

I love it, great art, music, and gameplay - a cute and simple game that's just challenging enough to be fun. Bravo.

LD30 — Connected Worlds

Taxi Copter by Aaron San Filippo 2014-08-27T06:38:00

Nice game, really smooth and fun controls. It was actually kinda fun watching the helicopter spin wildly through the air. Good music too, I like how it sped up as time counted down. Nice take on the graphics, very minimalist but stylish.

Taxi Copter by Aaron San Filippo 2014-08-27T06:39:00

Oh, and if you'd like to rate my game, please do! Here's a link - http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=2726

Whiteout by primaerfunktion 2014-08-29T07:46:00

Really nice atmosphere to this game. Good job balancing between getting good sounds, animation, modelling, and colour palette use. Camera control was a little frustrating, but I got used to it... And anyway it fits the kind of struggle I suppose you're wanting the player to be immersed in. Good work!

Onomo by plash 2014-09-05T17:28:00

Lovely mood, very haunting atmosphere to the game.

Tribe of the Giant by MerlijnVH 2014-08-29T05:57:00

A great-looking game. I love the look of the portal, and how the little guys fly through it.

Movement controls felt fine. However, like others, I did mash my mouse to move. This probably suggests using more cues + feedback loops to reinforce well-timed clicking. Eg, change in colour or size of something (the giant?) as optimal click time approaches, and perhaps moving faster / more snappily or (perhaps more effectively) sucking up more little guys as you click with better timing.

Also, good use of AI pathing! :)

Hypertonic by JM-DG 2014-08-29T14:09:00

Nice music, very challenging game... feels like the red orbs should be more inclined to stay away from each other to give you a chance! Could become a nice mobile game though :)

Pogo the Universe by Nick Weihs 2014-09-02T20:26:00

Lovely game, very creative idea. The physics of it really intrigued me. Nice touch with the trail indicating your trajectory given your current input. I was tempted to see if I could build up enough momentum to slingshot out of one of the earlier levels without the trampoline, but I suspect it's not possible :(

Afterlife Dance Party by Wertle 2014-09-02T20:13:00

Fun game! Taking dodging to the next level. I love the animations on the characters, they're very cute :D Good music, too.

John and the Arbitrary Gem Hunt by SteveSalmond 2014-09-07T11:47:00

Nice game, well-rounded for 48 hours! I liked the mix of narration and the character talking to himself. The way gravity worked was fun to play with, and I found myself trying to outrun each beanstalk's growth so I could tumble down to the next planet, landing perfectly on a gem or bean. Nice touch putting faces on some planets too, I didn't notice until starting a second playthrough.

Also, a small (but kinda fun) bug: acceleration for movement is applied relative to camera's direction, so looking down and holding backwards can cause you to float directly up. The same goes for looking up and holding forwards. Perhaps this could be fixed by projecting camera-relative directions onto the plane of the polygon the player is currently "attached" to, then re-normalizing them? You could do this with OrthoNormalize(planeNormal,camForward,camRight), I think.

InfiLoop by komjaur 2014-09-02T12:32:00

Crazy mind-bending game. Good imitation of Antichamber.

The Legend of Light by Yword 2014-08-31T07:07:00

Lovely game with good incremental challenges. Visually very impressive :) Nice music, too.

elemens by Steve | tacospice 2014-08-27T06:06:00

Good to see more Steves doing Ludum Dare :p

Cool game, the graphics and sound effects are good, but the music's great! Nice take on the theme too.

Matters of Perspective by nesis 2014-08-24T10:31:00

Thanks for checking out the prototype guys! It's great to know you like it. As for specific responses...

@hinerz: I like arrows for this. Arrows are go! :)

@AkirAssasin: Thanks!

@vividhelix: Good point there. I'm hoping to make it more challenging, needing to hit E at different heights rather than being spoonfed just one height you can hit E at. Where one character can't cross some gap, the other should be able to assist.

@BlueSama: Thanks for the compliment, too!

@auto_suggestion: Uncannily, I removed something that I thought was too punishing for an intro level - burning rectangular prisms that kill you on touch. My plan is to intro them early on after the basic mechanics are explained in a safety net environment.

Matters of Perspective by nesis 2014-08-25T08:32:00

Thanks for checking out my game guys!

@wolfmother: Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it!

@BloodJohn: Thanks as well - I wasn't sure if the messages would be interesting or not, so it's good to hear they were a part you liked :)

@sez: Thanks for playing it. I'm glad the second level was a bit challenging, I was hoping to make one level at least a little mind-bending! :)

@Jupiter_Hadley: Thanks for including my game Jupi! I have no idea how you play so many games. Keep up the good work!

@Norgesnerd: Thanks for playing! The second easter egg needs you to climb the staircase fully, then go into sidescroller mode to drop down to the easter egg's platform, then return to first person to pick it up :)

Matters of Perspective by nesis 2014-08-27T16:01:00

@unnamed1334, hypp, Druid, royvanrijn, mlabarca, dickpoelen, goosetickler, Ogniok:

I'm glad you all liked my game, thanks for playing it!

@Agecaf:

You're sure right, thinking in 2D / 3D is a challenge. I tried working out levels on paper, but it doesn't always make sense for this kind of level design. So in the end I resorted to placing blocks in Unity and manually testing levels to make sure they work as intended (with some leeway for daring shortcuts).

@AkirAssasin:

:) Hey this is your second comment - does that mean you came back to play again? And nice find! There's actually quite a few shortcuts in this game. Level 3 in particular. The level 2 one I'm thinking of patching since it really cuts out the bulk of the level. But I do like the way you can solve it more than one way...

@tmpxyz:

Thanks! Happy to fulfil that expectation :p

@Norgesnerd:

For placing the cubes, I placed one then kept hittin Ctrl+D to duplicate it. For walls and floors, I'd place a line of cubes, select them all, then duplicate it that way... it still took several hours to make one level, though!

I'm thinking of developing this game further to sell, but feel free to tinker with my source - and let me know if you make anything, I'd love to see!

@liquidminduk:

I'm frankly surprised how quickly the game (and levels with 1000+ cubes!) loads. I was expecting to need to crunch down the size of all my textures to get the game's size down... but for some reason, that wasn't so. Lucky me! Seems the default Unity assets are very web-friendly.

@Donar:

Thanks for playing! I agree sounds would've been nice... as is usually the Ludum Dare story, I ran out of time :(

@HoopsnakeGames:

I agree about the mouse sensitivity being too low. It's kind of a case of "works on my computer" - I keep forgetting my mouse sensitivity is insanely high compared to most. Later versions will have a way to tweak that, for sure.

@BoaHeck_ArtGent:

Sure thing - for now, my Twitter account @llnesisll will be the only place I'm likely to post updates.

@radmars:

I'm glad you liked my game! I agree about both the need for music and higher (or customisable) mouse sensitivity - the sensitivity I can fix, my lack of skill making music, not really :p Weird ambient stuff would be cool though! It'd be nice to give change it a bit between sidescroll and FPS perspectives, too.

@Rocketship:

I agree about mouse sensitivity needing to be higher, later versions should have a way to tweak that (pause -> sensitivity slider). Thanks for playing!

@JM-DG:

Thanks for checking out my game! :D I'll be giving yours a go soon, too! (And anyone else's who's commented here, cuz hey... why not? You all played mine, after all.)

Keep On Going by sirerr 2014-08-29T18:48:00

Nice idea for the game! It could go some interesting directions.

It seems like some colliders are getting unintentionally parented to your player, and sometimes end up colliding with the player, pushing them sideways constantly (since they're parented, they try to keep the same position relative to their parent... but their parent's getting pushed away from them!). Putting the colliders on different layers and setting them to not collide in the physics matrix (edit -> project settings -> physics, untick to remove collision between two layers) can be used to fix that. An alternative is to use Physics.IgnoreCollision(playerControllerCollider, someOtherCollider) (found at: http://docs.unity3d.com/ScriptReference/Physics.IgnoreCollision.html)

I hope that didn't come across as condescending - my intent here is to be helpful :)

Sinister by Joe Williamson 2014-08-29T13:46:00

Wow, a lot of work packed in for 48 hours. Lovely graphics and music. Very poignant ending, and good use of the theme. I'd love to see more!

DISPARATE by Hoopsnake Games 2014-08-27T05:54:00

A nice game! Very challenging to play on your own, but I can see some people getting pretty good at it. Nice polish with the sound and menu working so slickly :)

The Wild West And Its' Living Fossils by toinfiniityandbeyond 2014-08-29T18:54:00

Loved the music and graphics. The day-night cycle was really cool, the stars popping up at night my favourite part of it :) Somehow both funny and sombre, well done.

The IT Support by EpiphanyG 2014-08-29T11:44:00

First Twine game I've played. It's a nice concept... good writing, somewhat serendipitous storylines! :)

Symbiosis by vividhelix 2014-08-29T10:46:00

Nice idea for the game, very innovative.

The Hoverator by Viza 2014-08-27T07:31:00

Fun game, though the controls were a little confusing since I'm coming off the back of playing a lot of Borderlands - I kept trying to turn with the mouse XD

Good level of difficulty as the game progressed, dodging those bullets at times came down to luckily bobbing down as the bike balanced itself. Music was pretty good too.

The Hoverator by Viza 2014-08-27T07:31:00

Oh, and if you'd like to play my game, here's a link to save you some time! http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=2726

This Little Piggy... by InfectionTeam 2014-08-29T19:03:00

Wow, that was unexpected but awesome. Nice polish on the game. A hint about what direction to walk to find things would be good at first, to let you learn the lay of the land before things go down.

Alternation by PowerSpark 2014-09-02T11:48:00

Fun action puzzle-platforming! This is uncannily similar to the aesthetic my game had, except in mine you flip from 2D sidescroller to 3D first person in a puzzle-platforming environment. Nice polish for the time given.

Connected Worlds: The Game. A Morality Play by Partially Exciting 2014-08-31T21:22:00

Nice game, good play with the theme and incrementally harder puzzles. Lots of new mechanics introduced very well by example, then used in more complex ways later on. Well done!

For Our Fragile Worlds by hinerz 2014-08-29T10:20:00

Interesting art. The physics were a little strange. Lots of content for 72 hours, nice job!

Space Delver by commodoreKid 2014-08-29T11:33:00

Nice game with lots of playtime for 72 hours of development. Would be great to have an inertial dampener as an upgrade!

Worlds Collide by Rage Paint 2014-08-29T18:29:00

Loved the audio, it makes a nice background to the collect-and-avoid strategies needing to be employed. Very fun game to play, it was a rewarding feeling getting bigger and bigger and seeing other objects go from being threats to targets >:D

Universe Errand Boy by sez 2014-08-29T19:44:00

Good job making such a robust ship-creation system in 48 hours. One of my favourite parts was accidentally fitting a gun on sideways instead of forwards... heh heh! Nicely done.

Between Worlds by Eduardo 2014-08-27T06:45:00

Nice game mechanic, though a little confusingly fast-paced at times you start to get used to it. For those with slower reaction times / poorer memories of the two world layouts, it might be good to slow down the transition between worlds - eg slowing time or pausing time while one fades in and the other fades out. Good range of challenges derived from one mechanic :)

Inbetween Lands of Grass by From Smiling 2014-09-03T18:06:00

Great idea for a game mechanic. Very nice graphics, especially the colour palette and character design.

A later version would benefit from a more direct demonstration of how the box room affects the outside world. One way this could be done is by starting the player off with a much simpler level (one box room, one outside area, with limited kinds of boxes and obstacles), then gradually introducing more kinds of boxes and obstacles to accentuate their difference from the previously known ones.

Trappy Tomb by jimmypaulin 2014-09-02T20:50:00

Brilliant game.

DrOpLeTs by nicso 2014-08-29T14:37:00

Challenging game, nice music.

Parallel Horizons by kebabskal 2014-09-02T12:19:00

Lovely game! Very nice touch to the graphics, and the sounds were very well-produced.

DINO BOLT by GeorgeBroussard 2014-08-27T15:27:00

Really nice game, snappy movement and good sound. My top was 31. I liked the randomised elements!

LD31 — Entire Game on One Screen

PhotoBound by PIXEL^3 2014-12-12T09:07:00

Lovely music and graphics, pixel art is hard to nail well in a short time, you've done well in that respect. Loved the mechanic of the screen following the camera rather than the player - personally I'm a fan of being abstract with the theme, so this one really worked well for me. Level design was very polished, though the second last level had some timing that was a bit tight, where I kept hitting the spikes as the camera moved. Well done!

DoomZone by CoolChesire 2014-12-16T12:57:00

Loved the intensity of this game, it was challenging to keep up with the randomness of the levels. A suggestion I would have for a post-jam version is using "object pooling" to manage a set of exploding enemies, so you don't get performance hitches at runtime from instantiating them.

Space Docking Sim 2014 by YM 2014-12-14T16:11:00

Just (finally) played your game, and loved the compo version of it. It shows some good iteration during the jam!

Ludum Dare to Believe - SEASON 3 by ButtonMasherBros 2014-12-17T06:12:00

10/10 would play again.

Black Hole Surfer by tripleVisionGames 2014-12-14T16:28:00

I loved the ambience of the game, and the aesthetic was one of the top few I've seen in this Ludum Dare! Very well made game, and very challenging but fun and mesmerising.

One-Floor Dungeon by Ryusui 2014-12-17T06:02:00

I love the pacing of this game, and the random elements to it. Got a real feeling of success from making it all the way through to the crown! Interestingly, the game became more about constantly moving and dodging once my speed became high enough. I also worked out a strategy of leaving heart pieces I found if I already had full health, letting me backtrack to replenish it. My final run was pretty lucky, spawning 3 rooms with items (2x bows, 1x speed boost) adjacent to each other, and also getting through 3 levels of the dungeon in about 10 rooms. Well done!

Hard Winter by Taldius 2014-12-14T15:29:00

I really enjoyed the fast-paced nature of the game. I'm not a great multitasker, so it became pretty challenging pretty fast. I can see myself sinking more time into the game, and going rogue against the monsters in the maze.

Cell #327 by Aurel Bílý 2014-12-14T15:05:00

I liked the game. The graphics and the audio were both great. One minor tweak I'd suggest is making hitting q, w, e, or r override the current action you're trying to perform, to enable you to easily start doing another action. And that's a pretty minor suggestion! Very well done.

Glow Drop by Gamepopper 2014-12-14T14:27:00

I liked the colour palette and postprocessing applied to the graphics, and the music especially was done well. I can see people playing this compulsively like they do other games like it. A unique hook could perhaps be playing more with the physics of it, allowing the player to shuffle the positions of the circles.

Sorry the Snowman by Dezzles 2014-12-14T16:00:00

My brain melted, just like a snowman in the Sahara. Good game, and good god!

Slimey's Quest by LMT 2014-12-14T15:38:00

I liked the cute graphics, and the smooth platformer controls. Aesthetic kind of reminds me of Super Mario World, which is good - they had a great colour palette and aesthetic style!

Desk Top! by Ossi 2014-12-16T10:52:00

The theme and the puns were well-handled. I also liked the way you made the filenames a kind of tutorial. Good first attempt at making music! The one thing I'd suggest is normalising the volume by checking how loud it is compared to other applications. (A small issue, really.)

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-07T19:17:00

Good point - I've updated the description to hopefully clarify how the game fits the theme.

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-08T02:42:00

@pavel_insight:
Hah, it's funny how similar concepts can pop up... I'm looking forward to playing + rating your game after some sleep!

@pvtroswold:
Were it only that I had the patience and skill for adding good sounds. As it stands, I've opted out of the sound category. I'm glad you like the rest of the game! :D

Mobius Dungeon by nesis 2014-12-10T08:59:00

@Elrobo :) You can play with a controller! At least my xbox360 one works - left stick to move, A instead of left mouse, and B instead of right mouse.

The Floor is Lava by Slashee the Cow 2014-12-12T08:33:00

Nice game! I loved the music, and the idea was very unique, and played well with the theme, not needing to make it too abstract to create a fun game.

Comet Blaster by Skills641 2014-12-16T13:34:00

Wow this game gets intense quickly! I wasn't sure what was causing clones to spawn at first, but then I realised it was a timer counting down. Really cool twist to an old classic!

Wow, great game! The two small suggestions I'd have relate to controls only:
1) a small leeway timer for detecting walljumps (letting the player hit away from the wall, and still be able to walljump), and
2) removing "up" as an input for jump on the D-pad, since it can misfire when hitting left / right for walljumping.

Again, amazing game!

Tiny Bit by A.W. Apps 2014-12-16T13:23:00

Good interpretation of the theme. I liked the combinations of jumping puzzles you came up with.

Super Snowgirl Dash by Seraphina 2014-12-16T11:16:00

Wow, super difficult platformer game, but very fun and funny! Reminded me of I Want To Be The Guy.

Turtles vs Chainsaws by pixelpig 2014-12-14T15:17:00

Funny game, I like the premise, and it was fun to play and attempt to last as long as possible. I think my best was around 4-5 seconds. I can see people getting into this and strategising the same way they did with Flappy Bird!

Lumen by Treeaza 2014-12-14T14:50:00

I liked the voiceover, though it would be good if it were louder - I could hardly hear it with my volume turned up to 100%. I liked the self-reference and the wittiness of the dialogue.

Dayo by pvtroswold 2014-12-14T15:52:00

A fun short game :)

The Operator by little-burrito 2014-12-16T14:03:00

A very promising kind of game, with the potential for interesting and complex strategies played out between operators and agents! I like how well fleshed-out the console was, it felt much like using consoles I've used before.

Last Ark by Nuclear Napalm 2014-12-14T14:19:00

I liked the resource management idea, and the story behind it was intriguing, making me immediately care about the future of the characters in it.

The Room by Kain.Oborin 2014-12-12T09:58:00

Loved the plot, it had me engaged to the end, and made me want to keep playing until I finished it and found out what would happen. Breaking the fourth wall was also a nice touch. Confusing plot, but nonetheless engaging.

I Am Technician by Murchurl 2014-12-12T11:29:00

Great game, I had a lot of fun with it. I think the one change you could make is making the controls a little more accessible, via having them pop up on screen in a context-sensitive way, for example. Very fun game, it's definitely the kind you'd see people Let's Playing on youtube.

Killine by PortoCombo 2014-12-16T13:44:00

Fun, fast-paced and challenging game. Well done making it not too hard, but still very tricky to manage!

Whole Life On One Screen by Demy 2014-12-16T12:44:00

Decent game, I think the main thing to add post-compo would be some clearer in-game feedback that drives the player in some direction, giving them an idea of what behaviour is beneficial and what behaviour is detrimental.

GTAlien by Pulsartronic 2014-12-14T14:39:00

Loved the game! I enjoyed finding out that you can somewhat cancel out of doing attacks / throws to save time, which is the kind of speedrun trick I like to find in games. The ragdoll physics were pretty funny, too. One suggestion I would have is adding a little more variation to how the humans react to seeing other humans being hit (eg, freaking out and standing on the spot, and perhaps running and hiding instead of completely leaving).

The Lonely Realm of Tom Thaum, the Space Wizard by JJEvil 2014-12-16T14:33:00

I like the game - it's like a new take on the tower defense genre. Fun pace to the game. I would consider rubberbanding the pacing of meteors to fit the amount of power the wizard currently has, so the player doesn't end up inexorably overwhelmed. Though if that's your intention, no worries! :)

Second Screen Exists by pavel_insight 2014-12-14T15:46:00

I enjoyed the lateral thinking needed in your game to solve the puzzles. It wasn't too complex to be frustrated, but was just complex enough to be challenging - which is a tricky thing to achieve in a gamejam!

ROCKROCKET by Backterria 2014-12-12T12:09:00

Loved the game, the ambience and feel and aesthetic were great and very intriguing. I liked how you constructed a world and a kind of story without needing to use words at any point - everything was explained implicitly with what happened in the environment. The one thing I would add to solve so many little issues (mostly player location and identifying "fake" walls) would be a light that sits behind the player and solid geometry, but in front of "fake" walls and the background. Great game!

Business in Tokyo by 2dgamedev 2014-12-12T11:40:00

The game was pretty fun, I had an easy time learning the controls, though the one difficult bit was realising I had to jump to get off the raft. Perhaps you could just walk off instead? I really liked the characterisation of the business man's emotions, they made the game very funny for me.

Much Adoge about Chocolate by Arpeggiatura 2014-12-16T12:27:00

Such game, much topdown! The tiles were playing with my eyes, but in a good way. Would be good to see crisper versions of the tile graphics!

Intense Wizardry by yokcos700 2014-12-12T10:44:00

I loved the shadowing and lighting in the game, it would be good to see it there all the time, since it looks great and also clearly indicates when enemies can see you, and leaves some mystery about the layout of the level. It's also really satifying firing a ton of fireballs and lighting the room up. It would be good to have some indicator or feedback to show when enemies will react to sounds you make.

Sword, Shield, Mregal, Fight! by shubshub 2014-12-12T10:15:00

This seems like a good early attempt at making a game in GameMaker, it seems like you learnt a lot through the course of the jam. Some improvements post-jam that I would suggest would be:

1) making the cards and the "lock in" button react when you mouse over, so you know you can interact with them

2) changing popups to be in-game images or text, so the look and feel of the user interface stays the same throughout your entire game

Well done, and looking forward to see what you've learnt by the next jam!

Duck, Jump, Die by Divitos 2014-12-16T13:12:00

Nice implementation of an infinite runner. I liked the light-hearted bubble particles trailing after the player.

Skids by locknic 2014-12-16T15:02:00

A very challenging game! Would be great having slightly tighter control than the other cars, given their (seemingly?) perfect aim. Good work on the AI for the cars, they seem very intelligent in their pathing and control.

OnPoint by purrpurr 2016-04-19T04:41:00

A really nice idea for a puzzle game. I liked the way you lead the player through the mechanics, and upped the ante with each new challenge. The last puzzle was a good jump in complexity for me, and is a good way of showing the player where this mechanic can lead :)

I ran into a small glitch, by the way - I was moving at close to max speed and got stuck on a corner. I couldn't move, so I had to reset. The corner was an L shape, I was coming at it going diagonally up-right. (Don't worry, I didn't vote you down for it!)

Over all, well done! Really good, and doubly so considering that it's your first attempt at a puzzle game.

Shape Attack by end3r 2016-04-19T05:27:00

Runs fine in Chrome on Windows 7 :)

Nice, smooth transitions for the shapes, and I liked the colour palette chosen. Definitely a game that could get challenging to keep up with. It'd be great to try out on a mobile device, and its UI seems to have been designed well around that :)

SandShifter by nesis 2016-04-19T02:54:00

@AustinSpafford and @Maysickdev

Thanks for playing! I'm glad you liked my game :D

@Hyoga-3D

Thanks for trying out the web version - I totally missed that I messed up my code for capturing the mouse! I'll make a small update when I get home tonight, so the mouse gets captured correctly :) Thanks for your patience despite that bug!

Shapeshift by suurin 2016-04-19T05:36:00

A nice fast-paced game with nice graphics. On the level generation side of things, some blind corners made it impossible to dodge incoming obstacles, and there were a few long periods of time when no obstacles appeared - but when level generation worked at juuust the right pace, it was good fun :)
