Looks good, made me interested for a while. I think you should make moves animated, it is not clear enough which plated move.

Camped in the corner too, same error here. Sad, I had about 300000 points :(
I really liked playing it at first, but later it got a bit boring. Monsters are just running around or chasing you, so i just ran in circles while killing all the weaker ones, and then i could easily finish the ones that were chasing me. Maybe you can make some monsters that would have more interesting AI? For example stop further from you and then charge to you in a straight line, or make some enemies that would try to stay away, dodge your shots and attack from range.
Thanks for reviewing, glad you liked it! At some point I got reeeeaaaally lazy so that's why level is too short and checkpoints were not done. Maybe I this will motivate me to work more in next LD. Also, I thought I suck at art :D
@Blockers that's actually the intended solution, you can even see that animations are a bit delayed in that level.
Feels really good to read all these comments, I was thinking about making another version with more levels.
@AtiknsSJ Spoiler: In that level you have to jump into the hole and then teleport to the crate. You'll get across the hole, the crate will fall and you will get a new one on the same side as you.
Awesome game, but the minotaur really needs better pathfinding. Right now you can simply hide behind a corner and he will get stuck. Make him a bit slower than the player and being chased by him will get much more interesting.
Being able to lock the screen and then wrap was a really nice feature.
Graphics and audio were great, but gameplay is quite frustrating. I managed to get to 3rd or 4th fireplace, but then I was surrounded by wolves. I saw that in one direction forest gets lighter, but there were 4 wolves standing in that direction. I tried luring them to the opposite side than I had to go to, but after 4 tries they just kept coming back to that place even when I got them to chase me around the fireplace.
Couldn't understand the rotation system at first, and still had difficulties controlling it, but otherwise it's quite a good game.
A bit addictive active gameplay, simple but good music and graphics. Nothing special about the theme, but a good game nevertheless.
Really interesting mechanic, fun to play. Graphics and audio would be good, and also restarting from the very beginning was a bit frustrating. So overall gameplay is good, but at least sounds would improve it a lot.
@lieutenant-jack
The game is written in javascript. I used Visual Studio code for editing, Chrome for testing, Bfxr for sound effects, MS Paint for graphics and also for level editing (levels are just an image, with some additional javascript to setup generators), and also some python for some development things. You can check out the source for more details.
A few more difficult puzzles would have been nice. Also player movement felt a bit slow - in my opinion, in puzzle games it should be fast enough so that the player would not be bothered with waiting, and could instead focus on solving.
Overall it was pretty nice. Having better puzzles would make it great.
What the fuck did I just play.
All of the horribleness of vscode was super amusing. It's great satire (or replication?) of horrible bloated software.
This really got me hooked. Optional carrot and time objectives are a great idea and really extended the amount of time I spent playing this. Graphics look cute and fit perfectly for a game like this.
But: I feel that this lacks polish for controls that it really needs. Jump height a bit random, what's considered ground feels finicky (sometimes you can jump while hugging a wall mid-air, sometimes you can't jump with a tile below your feet), tiles would randomly get kicked when colliding with them. This made going for extra objectives really frustrating in some places, so I managed to do only 18 levels (with both bonus objectives) before quitting.
Very cool concept! I got it fairly quickly with the help of the explanation, but it was still challenging enough to keep me interested.
I was a bit sad that fullscreen did not work properly, it would have been so much better as the current view felt a bit too small. And of course a bigger view would help a bit for the times when I managed to lose the pieces without really understanding how I did it
Me: It's time to play jenga on paper.
Gf: I don't think that's how you play jenga.
Great concept, very mind-bending. After solving 3d tower on paper I managed to remove 2 tiles from each layer with some intuition on how to extend 2d case to the 3d case and I think this is the most pieces you can remove, but I don't really have a mathematical proof that this is optimal.
Aren't you supposed to create your own graphics from scratch during the jam? Player sprites are from gamedevmarket.
