Haha, genious!
This game is great. Awesome concept with the moving display. Graphics are sweet as well.
This stuff is really innovative! The learning curve is great, and I love the way the rules (and the fruit-thingy) aren't explained, but you have to figure them out by yourself. Would love to see som scoreboards on this.
Great job, I loved it! The size-switching-concept has great potential.
Thrilling game! Great puzzles!
How could I've overlooked the story of this game, the first time I played it. Slowpoke much.
Once again; Magic!
Took a couple of tries to understand how the game worked, but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun! Can't wait to unlock all the achievements.
Awesome concept. So simple, yet very addicting. Took me a couple of tries to understand the mechanics, but once I got the hang of it, it was really fun! Goodfeel music as well. Good job! Top score on innovation!
Had to try both yesterday and today in order to complete the game. I finally made it though. For you to have made this in 48 hours is amazing. Graphics and music were splendid, as well as animations and storyline. Very cute story, and what a happy ending(except for all those who had failed in escaping). And of course, the gameplay concept in itself was simple, yet very innovative. I'm overwhelmed, my friend! Amazing job!
More running would make the game even better. Still, funny with that potato-drama and lovely graphics.
I'm improving bit by bit. A fun and useful trainer.
I loved the part where everything suddenly turns pitch black. The viola - great stuff.
250 secons, 25 deaths. I enjoyed it. Cool concept!
Interesting concept. I'd love to see how far I was from killing the God (if it's possible). Also, a way of escaping those 3x1 pits would be great! Nevertheless, I enjoyed it!
Freaky, yet beautiful. I love the way you've designed the characters, as well as the way the music changes when you enter the crowded room. Neat story, would love to see more.
Haha, what a wonderful story. Top score on humor for the ending. I found it pretty hilarious. I really like the way you included "stories" along the way. Also, very fitting music!
Wow, this was awesome. The +1000 sound was great! Genious concept. Keep it going! Score: $ 54690.
Love it. Fun to see someone do boardgames for once!
I like the art style and the music! The game itself was very unforgiving. Indeed checkpoints would be nice!
Haha, this game is mind blowing! Never before have I seen a game with this great level design! The way you lure the player to believe he's smart, only to ridicule him once he realize he was wrong about a puzzle. Amazing.
I had many laughs(loud ones) throughout the game, but the one where you say "by now you should know my tricks", and actually make a very simple route. That was without doubt my favorite.
The storytelling, the company, the game play in itself, the minimalism. Everything about this game deserves great acknowledgement, and I'm really happy I tried it out.
Sweet, finally made it after 49 deaths! Epic ending chiptune in the end (Is that Nightwish or something?). Interesting gameplay, simple yet challenging. I enjoyed it!
Wow, this is game is addictive!! 1570 is my current high score, but I'll have to try again. Great music, sweet characters, and original concept. Good job on this!
Wonderful. At first I it didn't seem minimalistic at all, but as I played through the game, I understood your way of implementing it. Very unique, and with great story. Also, neat music. Good job!
Fun game, but would love to see more challenges! Once I got the purple block I could just go bananas on all blocks in order to win. Still, interesting concept, and pretty innovative and minimalistic. Good job!!
I need more time to get into this game, but indeed it's fun! Would be great to have some kind of goal to work towards. Good job, and neat branching.
This game is pretty sweet! Would be awesome if the player was able to buy powerups as well.
And that feeling of helplessness once surrounded. Great job!
Kinda short, but I'd love to see more!
Would love to see some goal or score for this game, to keep the player motivated. Other than that it's a pretty good game! Wonderful audio.
Thanks for great feedback guys!
@Zathalos: Happy to hear you found it addicting. Great job, it took me a long time to get to 5 myself.
@cacciatc: Yeah, I like the sound of that idea! I've been thinking about 2v2 versus mode as well. Shooting them beams at each other!
Thank you so much for all this epic feedback! Based on all this, I can improve the game to something more.
@cinnamonmelonpig: Yeah, it's supposed to always move, but you can change direction with "L" anytime. It takes a couple of tries getting used to. Good luck!
@ohsqueezy:Glad you liked it! I'll be sure to add more stages and enemies once Ludum Dare is over!
@BlackDogg: Thank you! As there is only one button to be pressed in the game, the navigation takes a couple of times to figure out. Pressing the button changes the direction of the character and your main objective would be to defeat 10 of those flying purple thingies by bouncing on platforms. A platform equals shooting a projectile. I have only been able to complete the game once myself.
@caranha: Thanks caranha! Indeed, I need to balance the game even more. I'll probably continue working on the game after LD is over. To make the music, I used magical8bitplugin VST with FL Studio.
Thanks for playing, rating and commenting on my game everyone! After the judging ends, your comments will be the new foundation of what I will improve as I continue working on the game. Once again, thanks everyone (:
Minimalistic and scary! The potato was without the best part. ++ for Humor!
Great game! Would like some music to this! Great story.
What an amazing game. If anything, music is the only thing I miss. Well done!
Good work, especially for one your age. If you wanna improve the game, add some more challenge to it. Enemies perhaps? Once again, good job on this.
Seriously; add some music and some sounds to this, as well as a couple of features for different kind of beard and brows, and you got yourself a NEAT app! It's great fun playing around with!
This game is magic. I've never been this addicted to a game in a while. Lovely music and extremely neat graphics as well! My high score is 779, but it's probably due to a bug. I picked up one of those jump-powerups, and suddenly the game went into slow motion. After that I had infinite superjump! Nevertheless, a beautiful game. 5 stars from me.
Would like to see more interactivity.
Yay, this was so fun! Quite an easy point and click game, yet challenging and exciting puzzles. Feelgood soundtrack as well as simple, yet understanding graphics. To do this in 48 hours is a job well done!!
Yay, I made it. A few more levels, and a win screen and this would be pretty sweet. All in all a great and addicting game.
Would be great to see a tutorial for this game, as I found it difficult to understand in the beginning. I also had some trouble understanding what caused which events. After playing it for a while, I started to get some understanding of the mechanics though, and combined with the steampunky atmosphere, the mood of the game was pretty good! I'll be sure to try it some more. Loved the music by the way.
Yay, I won! It was really addictive, just like real Sokoban. Good job, neat graphics!
Top score for innovation. Haven't managed all of the levels yet, but I'll get there. Lovable title of the game as well!
Wow, amazing! Fun and humorous! Sure took it's time. Still, I enjoyed every minute!
One of the most innovative games I've played till now. This was amazing, and deserves 5 stars from my side. Would love to see you work on more levels for this game. The audio was magic as well! Very well done!
Haha, great game! This really reminds me of the Commandos-series. Sneaking around is fun.
No doubt the hardest game I've tried so far. It's really challenging, getting through the whole loop, yet in a fun way. I'm having major troubles controlling the player when I get to the other sides of the octagon, but I guess that's part of the fun. Good job on this!
Yay, button breaker! I love games like these! I didn't manage to take down more than a couple though ]:
Art and music is really awesome. And the difference of difficulties seem to be planned as well. I'll give it another try once I find my gamepad. Great job on this (;
Well THAT escalated quickly! I got 273 at most.
Sweet game! Very addicting. Haha, I feel bad for those birds having carry the weight of my island as well as couple of blocks of lead. Loveable music and art, and all in all a very good submission to the theme!
Good job, and good luck :)
Yes! Finally a party Game! I have only tried it with two so far, but I'll probably gather up a few people and try it with all four! I really love the graphics and colors on this one. And the music is really fitting. And it's extremely fun to play. I can see many rage fits to come. Good job on this!
Really entertaining game, with a simple concept. I can see myself playing this in every waiting room, on every bus stop. Current record is 62. Running smoothly on Samsung S5! Good job on this!
Mind was blown. This must be the most unique twist of the theme I've seen so far during the season. The game rocks, and I really wished for there to be more stages! Really addicting. Good job man!
Amazing soundscape, combined with a really cool noir art style. The story was really sweet, and I loved the part with the gaunt man. Didn't expect that!
A really great game for 48 hours, and you managed to fulfill the theme as well. If you ever build more on it, I'd love to see more.
Oh, and I really liked that walk cycle.
@AlexVsCoding
Thanks for your feedback! Yeah, a bridge monster is a great idea for an obstacle. I might very well add that.
Glad you see the story behind it. I tried to make it so it would act out well whichever direction you'd choose to walk.
Once again thanks. I'll make sure to check out your jam entry (;
@rogberth
Thanks man. Glad to hear that!
@misto423
Thanks! Glad to hear you appreciate this kind of games [:
@Hicksk
Thank you. Indeed, the game doesn't offer much variation of gameplay. This is part because I wanted to make a resemblance of the old G&Ws, where you in most cases would be able to move only left or right. If I make something like this again, I might add more variation though (:
@Thommy
Glad you like it! (;
@RainbowSexyFish
I'm honored to hear that you've been looking forward to this 'o'
That's right. There is no back story, and therefore the story can be interpreted as one would wish. And indeed your version sounds really fitting to the style (:
My previous game, Dereck, is a rhythm-based puzzle. Maybe I could try mixing them somewhat together in the next compo.
Once again, thanks a lot!
@Tinimations
I think you might've rated the wrong game :P There is no aggressive snowman in mine.
@oh_andrej
Thanks man! Glad you like it!
@lisac
Thanks, I'm really happy to hear that! Yeah, the octopus is one of my main inspirations for the game! Well observed(;
@ehtd & @Domicuc
Thanks!
@oh_cripes
Thanks mate. Yep, it's simple, but should get pretty challenging at about 25-40 points.
@Krisjet:
Thanks! Great idea, I'll try to make that happen soon!
@Figglewatts, @Eduardo:
Thanks!
@Webravenz:
Thanks glad you liked it! Happy to hear someone played it till all three obstacles played together (;
@Double Zero One Zero:
Thanks! Inedeed, a Game & Watch should be mandatory in every home
@K.Chplr:
Thank you, I'll try to make that happen! Glad you found the music superb [;
@renatopp:
Thank you. Indeed, the mechanics are quite simple. Might do something a bit more advanced next time.
@Instant Noodles:
Thank you, good sir.
@SirRicecake:
Cool, thanks! Yeah, time to steer away from the stereotypical fairytail.
@gelisam:
Thanks man! That really means a lot!
@Murchurl:
Thanks mate! The game in itself is quite simple. Get all the way to the right to rescue the prince. Get back to the castle, and score a point. The game's difficulty increases gradually.
Great game! I have to agree upon that those lava traps at the end are quite unforgiving. If the theme was different, this game would be really fun to play with multiple stages! Good job on this, man (;
I'm glad I read your warning about lagging while playing in browser, because that was unbearable! Once I downloaded the exe, on the other hand, it went way better!
Lovely dungeon crawler with a clever looping system (reminds me of the infinity train from Adventure Time). Glad those potions appeared every now and then, or I wouldn't have lasted 3 loops.
I laughed a lot while playing this game. Some of the monsters have really interesting names (euw is better than eune skeleton), and when I loved the last sentence when I died. Nice music as well. Great game!!
Amazing concept!! Such a genius party game. Artstyle looks really cool and the music speaks for itself. It truly is a unique game, and gives me that Indiana Jones thrill.
I have only one thing to say; You did very well!
What the heck. This is so addicting. I really wanna know what happens when you get to the top! I got to Generation 3. Love the creative game mechanics. Nice music as well! Those giraffes got on my nerves though!
Very cute and loveable game. A multiplayer version of this would be amazing. At first it was hard to read what I was supposed to do when the game started, but after playing it a couple of times I got the hang of it. I can't stand the disappearing floor though! I see no way of dodging it :\
Other than that, I really liked your game!
I had a great time playing this game, and it was really fun experimenting with which combinations worked best to survive for a longer time. Didn't manage to get further than defeating three ships at most though. I'll probably get back to this game later on and see if I can get any further! Love the graphics.
Cool game! I fell in love with the game with the bird. Nice little twist for the One-Screen-theme :) Good job!
This is the most fun games I've played so far. I had to sit for about 20 minutes before I managed to get to through the last part (and it took my about 45 seconds before I figured I was going to use the bomb!), though it was totally worth it. And everything one one screen. Everything about this game feels right. Thanks, I had a great time playing this!
Haha, amazing game. A very unique sense of gameplay, with great humor involved. Is the game finishable, or is it more about scoring high? I got really addicted to this, and managed till day 8. Music and sounds are also really well done. Once again, amazing job on this.
Addicting game! I've always dreamed of blowing up snowmen with canons. My childhood wish had now come true.
I got 940. Not sure if that's good or bad, but I'll try to beat my record.
Good game!
Wow. I love this. The concept is actually pretty unique (at least I haven't seen any game like it), and is really addicting. I scored 178338 at most, but figured that the hardest part of the game was remembering which mouse button turned the wheels clockwise\counter-clockwise. Also, when it got faster I ended up clicking the wrong wheels. Sweet music as well. My favorites so far!
The mechanics of this game is amazing. I love this concept! The navigation feels really well, and the sound effects are sweet. Could be frustrating at times to be stranded at small islands, but as soon as I had enough crystals, those creative abilities solved that problem for me (:
Haha I absolutely love the character. Great backstory.
I like the concept with the energy, but it got tiring when you'd have to wait for it to recharge. Your game was really addicting, and I got as far as the stage with the floating platforms. Maybe you should add some checkpoints to this, so you won't have to start all over every time.
Good job on the game!
Allright, I got to 36! The concept rocks; it's nice and simple, and the obstacles increase in unique ways for every 10th points (at least so it seems). It's amazingly difficult at first, but once I got the hang of it I got further every time. Graphics and music are top notch, and extra score for sweet parallax effect on the background. Good job! [;
I have to controllers at home. I'll be sure to fetch them (as well as a buddy) and rate it later on. Looks fun! (:
This is among the most innovative games I've seen so far. A really creative game which I'd love to play on my smart phone! I hope to see that in the future. I scored 12 in the end, but might play some more. When I realized how little time I had left, I got really stressed out and it got even harder looking for patterns. Really good job on this!
Hahah, love it! Such a cool and unique concept, and all in one screen (; Great job on this. Love the way her heartbeat increases the more scared she gets. With some tweaking, this game could also be epic as a multiplayer!
Good job on this! I like it [: I Scored 27900, as I had trouble defending against the right colors, and ended up selling all my towers to afford changing color. Might need some balancing, but other than that, very well made. Sweet music too.
Awman! This game is crazy addicting. Among the most fun games I've played so far. Beautiful graphics, love thos small bugs wandering about. And it started getting really fun once I got into the flow of it. My final score was 3090, but I'm gonna beat that for sure. Also, good use of the theme. Amazing job, man [:
Hahaha, nice! Badass Santa Bullet Hell. Such an addicting game. I really love those animations, especially the spinning one. Great remix of Sugar Plum Fairy as well. I scored 32000 in the end.
Bullet Hells are so hard. Loved this one though! The bullet combinations seemed very well planned and reminds me of the traditional Japanese bullet hells. I only wish I was able to see my score after I died, as it reset to 0 right after one died. I think my record was 29000 at most! Oh, and the atmospheric music was really oool.
Good job on this! (;
Fun game! It went smoothly till' about 41000 points, and the suddenly it started lagging like crazy. I think it happened when I picked a lightning-powerup. The only thing I miss in this game is gradually increasing difficulty.
The music was really sweet and soothing by the way. Good job!
It can't get it to run. Running the Keeper.LD31.exe-file, but can't get anything but a gray display.
Running Windows 7.
Haha, I absolutely love this. Probably gonna play it some more tonight, see how far I can get. Didn't realize at first, that the mage's fire spell also damaged my own, and ended up killing them myself. Really entertaining, lot's of creative units. I especially love how you've given the cold one a weakness (;
Good job on this, and good luck!
Awesome game. Started trying to speed run it at some point. Challenging and balanced!
Lmao, I'm feeling up for some world domination this evening. Oof, this is addictive. Had to forcefully put it away in the end. Upgrading damage early on helped a lot. Good take on the theme. Loved it!
I probably spent around 20 minutes playing this; simple, and really addictive. At first I tried to only let through the high gamblers, but they kept jackpotting me to death lol. I finally got to lvl 36 by constantly attacking everyone, prioritizing the top hats. Well done, this rocks!
Hah, interesting game. Played for about 20 minutes, got to 82 health! Good work and great take on the theme (and super optimized!)
Super catchy music and chill concept. Keep on rolling :smiley:
62514! I managed to "rescue" about 80 of the survivors(it felt a bit as if I sacrificed them to some ascended species whenever I got food in return!). Really fun and addicting game, the music definitely helped a lot on the atmosphere, and kept me playing. Good work on that. Overall a really entertaining game :smiley: Also, the names and occupations actually made me feel a bit sorry for some of them.
RAPID PUNCHES TO THE CPU!!! Fun concept, and music is dope af! Getting Megaman vibes :smiley: Also, kudos for art style! Gj on this
10 980! Great game, enthralling music, and beautiful graphics (: Entertaining and chill
The Mayor never bought me a drink! Loved this little text-based adventure, and especially how amazed everyone were by the otherwise magnificent stories. Great job on this, it really took me back.
An unexpected and cool take on the theme. Amazing job for a first game :) Hypnotic music as well!
Cool game. I'm digging the art and effects!
For some reason this really took me back to the first Dragon Quest game! Just something about going from boss to boss, improving in strength and ability from beating one to go on to the next one. Had a bunch of fun with this one. Downloading it is definitely suggested over playing in browser imo. tho! Good job on this :smiley:
Lol, the sound effects in this are amazing. And making the decision that cats should fly in the wrong direction when kids run over you: pure evil. Great job on this!
@cheesepencil Glad to hear that my scenario could take you back :D
@mrtnldm Thanks! Yeah, 60 days is definitely too much. I spent a bit too much time on getting the icon-animations right :) Glad you found some interest in it, nevertheless!
@omnipotentindie Thank you. The Icon effects were one of things that took up a lot of time, so I'm glad you took notice of those! Yeap, I definitely feel like I could have spent at least another 24 hours on finishing it up XD
@kimily Thanks!! Yeah, I'd love to finish the story, and make some different branched paths to go down.
@simplepotential Yea, some times it's just impossible to finish everything up in time. I probably overscoped a bit on this one. Thanks for playing :)
@simplepotential Yeahh, I felt like the main mechanics worked as it should, but could definitely need some balancing and more content (as well as a start and an end). Glad you liked the start though ^_^
@xeke-death Unfortunately, I never got to finish up the game (barely mentioned in description, sorry). Thus Brad will continue to haunt our dear protagonist for eternity (unless your knowledge is high enough to get him into detention!)
AWESOME. I'm amazed that you managed to do add so many features, graphics, music, animations, sound effects and balanced gameplay in under 48 hours. You even had time to add an opening cutscene, tutorial and boss level. You must've worked your butt off! Well done, sir; great job on this. I think I played for about 45 minutes, to beat my record. I'm happy with the result. pr.jpg
Interesting and fun game! A good variety of enemies with unique behaviors is something you don't often see in game jams like these. Well done!
@daichifob Super feedback, thanks a lot! <3 Making it easier at the start would definitely be more encouraging (and shouldn't be hard to pull off). And the game is definitely lacking in feedback; the clouds should probably also give you some sort of feedback on collision. I'll see if I can't fix all that for the next version!
Such a good game! At first I didn't get the objective(my own fault for not reading the description to begin with), but once I got the hang of it, it was really entertaining to try to crack each beat.
I even felt a little sad as the little guy left at the end u_u
Cool beats and intriguing gameplay! A one-of-a-kind concept!
Fun game; I could probably have kept at it for another 20 levels! Super catchy music too :)
AH I let the manbearpigs muster up an army, and had to give it a second attempt. Fun game! Didn't expect the boss fight at all. Cool art style, thrilling music and likeable characters. Also nice to see that you found time to add some powerups in there too. Well done!
An enjoyable little game this! Cool mashup of different puzzle elements, and a good take on the theme :)
Fun and entertaining, and sweet animations/effects! Adding some sort of score or difficulty increase could perhaps increase the fun factor even more.
playwfire.png It grew large!
Excellent idea, well executed and truly entertaining. I've never found myself carefully pushing down triggers in any game, so this is a first. Of all the games I've played until now, yours fit the theme better than any other. Is the breaking ice purely based on input, or are there any random elements to it as well? I found that getting across the ice was easier once you got the hang of it! So a few more obstacles could maybe make it even more enjoyable. Nevertheless, a super execution for a game jam. Good work
(I can still hear his voice at night *woaaaah* *woaaaah* *woaaaah*)
@agrdev Aha, yeah I had a feeling the ice was more sensitive at the end. Great difficulty curve too then!
What an excellent delivery for a game jam. I was taken away by the extent of thought that has gone into this project. The Twin Peaks-like part with eerie woman and goose at the gas station, the Silent Hill-esque scene with the pulsating meat trees, flying stingrays and chanting voices. And to top it off, all the glitch effects. The amount of work that must have gone into this to make it work, is beyond me!
Finally, fantastic job on the assets - I expected the game to be mostly driving (reusing the same assets effectively to create the road). So I was taken by surprise several times to see you introduce a new scene/stage like 3 or 4 times throughout the game. Beautiful work and an excellent delivery on the theme :)
Wow. I never thought I would get to experience of an audible RTS, and I'm amazed how well it worked. It took me about 10 minutes to understand the controllers - at first I didn't understand that the enemy also fought for the same resources as me. Once I did though, it made sense to me why I some times got overwhelmed. I managed to get to level 6, before giving in on level 7. Overall a really well executed game, with simple and understandable instructions and a lot of interesting mechanics. Glad you included a readme, so I could remind myself of the units' strengths (btw; written instructions say that knights cost gold, though the in-game instructions tell me I need more iron)
Nice and simple! I especially wanna commend you on a clean execution! Finishing a game, giving it a start an end, and even music and options and UI graphics to top it of - that's something you don't see too often in jam-games. The game in itself had a clear and understandable goal, and the controllers felt responsive in every way. You used the elements and obstacles you had available to make a variety of challenges! If anything, I would love to see even more challenges and interesting level twists. Great work :) (edit: And excellent build on that electro-beat!)
The windows sound got me. Great job on this - I didn't gather all the coins, but those ghosts are long gone! Especially good job on the audio and atmosphere
$822 and 43 rats killed! This game was really simple to pick up, and seems to be constructed with a lot of room for strategy. The use of AI artwork is impressively executed(first game I've seen with AI art!), especially considering how the style seems hold up really well. Great take on the theme!!
Getting lost in long, dark hallways with an unknown entity chasing you? This is backroom alright. Man, I was stressed out from beginning to end. Wonderful work with both sound-effects and overall atmosphere. I would love to get a better look at some of the pages, as it seemed to contain parts of the story (though I suppose it's connected to the epilogue). And not least a great take on the theme.
truly gave me bad flashbacks to playing slender(I see you already got agentparsec's blessing!) and silent hill 1.
I'm sold. Will come back and rate in a couple of weeks 🥕
Wow, this is challenging! It took me a minute until I realized that I had reported everyone, not only my co-workers. I spent quite some time trying to get it right. Really fun and original concept for a game!
Sweet game will clever puzzle mechanics, nice pixel art animations, relaxing music and challenging puzzles! Couldn't have asked for more - loved it!
Was about to go to bed, but wanted to try one last game. Couldn't have made a better choice than this game. Nothing like a soft and soothing rhythm-game with nicely arranged Canon in C playing in the back. Well done on the music, well-executed rhythm mechanic, and all the ever-changing effects and animations of the seasons in the background!
I've decided I'm gonna play this again tomorrow before I go to bed.
MORE SHURIKENS! LONGER SHURIKENS!
Very addictive! If I weren't gonna test other games, I'd spend all night playing this, to see how large a shuriken truly can become. Great job!
Great little game! Was great to see how you've combined the challenges of timing the attacks and catching the airborne fish. Well done on the meter, effects and expression change of the bear as well - they helped in setting the mood!
I got the same error as the others unfortunately.
Super catchy music and a really nice experience, true to the original game. I ended up digging a stairway, so I could return to the surface after mining iron. Old habits die hard.
This is the most exciting I've played so far this dare! So many neat little details throughout the game, like how you can't heal yourself when burrowed, the chicken life-stealing by eating worms, big joe's butt scratch and the final boss, an actual harvester! You've gone lengths to ensure that everything from the enemies to their abilities match the theme, and made great sprites and animations to match. Also, extra points for great execution and explanation through symbols. I didn't have to read up on anything, and creating synergies with passives was a blast. I'm sure you must have *field* experience, in one way or another. Beautifully executed!
@maymay Thank you, glad you find it nice and spooky! They're sneaky for sure. Thought a level editor was a smart move - then I ran out of time!
@imyellowfish Thanks!! It's a shame I didn't prioritize adding some audio to this; some eerie creaks from those guys as they're closing in on you could've been fun
@rolly Thanks, this is some juicy feedback! Couldn't agree more - getting stuck on the corners is such a hassle, and I regret not spending more time on making navigation smoother. That and level design would be first priority if I was to make an improved build later.
Going turnbased sounds like a really good move. It makes sense considering the AI's patterns, and the chase-bit could still be used as visual queue upon losing.
I'm planning to assign delegate time to the various parts of the game for my next jam, as I spent way too much time on AI, and none on sound or music!
Thanks again for trying it out :pray:
@mikyokyuji Haha thanks, glad you enjoy it! They just want to give you hug you know
@lisyarus Thanks for giving it a shot! I wasn't sure whether I should explain the wheatshifter's AI or not, but I see now that their behavior isn't necessarily intuitive; will put a note about that in the description!
@yumepix orz I'll make sure to add the arrow-keys for my future entries. I'm happy you like it!
@ipsl0re Thanks man - Yeah, he's more out of control than I intended him to be! Audio will be pri next time, that's for sure
@cloughd Sneaky's the way! (though some times you just gotta run for it) Thanks you - if only I had the time to use it properly! Hopefully I can make some improved maps after the rating is over :')
@mad-brokli Thanks, I'll take note of that! Perhaps I can teach away their behavior through improved levels, if I make another version. I can definitely see that the way they move can be confusing - glad it can still bring some ~~slaughter~~ laughter and joy
@corporation The missing sound effects and music is a big downer for me too. I'm glad you enjoy the combination of fear and puzzle solving. It still puzzles me how horror and puzzle-solving tend to work so well together, despite their differences! Thanks for all your nice words
@camden-obertop thank you!
@tpunisher33 Thank you! And I couldn't agree more; getting stuck on the corners is so obstructing currently, that an update would definitely require chamfered corners on the colliders.
@picttarge The wheatshifter got some field experience for sure owo I'm glad you find it fun, despite it's difficulty! And agreed, the mood would probably improve with some sounds effects.
@chompdev Thanks chomp!
thanks for great design feedback @hawkin. It seems like the unpredictability of the wheatshifters are more annoying than riddling, which is understandable.
I've been working a bit on an updated version, where the stance of the shifter changes while they're hunting(actively chasing the player down and able to walk through wheat). Hopefully that will make them more readable.
Will also make sure to put some thought into navigation while I'm at it - corner-collision will be the first thing to go!
@weefairyfabi Wow thanks, that means a lot! I'm relieved to hear you didn't find the wheatshifter too annoying
edit: And tysm for adding my game to your itch page!! Just saw that :heart:
Wow, really unique gameplay on this one! It actually feels like I'm getting better at seeing the patterns of the different constellations as I play :star2: I'm curious about the mechanics behind discovering the right combination of stars. Great job on this
Great concept - Kept trying for 30 minutes before I had to give in! Even with @frib's hint, I couldn't get less than 8 pieces of grain left on stage 8. 6 and 7 were really fun too. Good job on this
if only I had more cursors - beautiful game - got gradually more demanding, and I got better at recognizing fish from evil fish; a skill I'm sure will come in handy one day.
Superb work on the music and sound effects btw. I can't have been the only one tapping the melody of All of Me inbetween stabbing fish.
Nerve-wracking! :see_no_evil: The difficulty of this is great - great AI and voice acting too! Managed to get him out of the fields on my fourth attempt
I'd like to have a few words with your boss.
Very fun game, challenging in a creative way, with fantastic music and atmosphere(Got true Twin Peaks vibes). The small intermissions, driving from one forest to the next, with the music changing up, was an excellent touch! The "?!" appearing as the demand changed also cracked me up.
Great job!
Wow, amazing job! A really fun sandbox to play around with. I like how you've given the different functions their unique area of effect ( on a bigger scale this could be such a fun little puzzle game!) - reminded me a lot of playing Dwarf Fortress. Didn't take me long until I started seeing the symbols as buds and flowers :)
Pretty art, sweet gameplay, great music, and a neat queuing system - good job on this! At first I only got 30-50 points each run - when I started queuing up actions though, I managed to accumulate more points! 82 in the end :smiley:
Excellent puzzle game, relaxing, easy to navigate and understandable right from the start! I could play this for hours if there more levels :) Very well executed, and the truck driving to its destination is a great ceremonial way to end each level!
Such a well made game! Atmospheric, soothing music combined with a striking art style, sound effects and great mechanics. The hanging rocks actually moving took me by surprise, and made the experience even more exciting. The chase scene was another great element - Even though I struggled a bit with my jumps being just out of reach during the chase, it only made me get more set on making it! Well done!!
Beautiful sounds effects and a consistent and clean art style - a highly innovative entry, not least. Unfortunately my phone didn't manage to run it. Would be fun if the game forced you to hold your finger there, making the phone buzz slightly every time they nibble on your finger.
Superb work!
Good old Regular-Sized "The Liver Extractor" Tony, why are my hearts beating so fast?
Such a well written little story, well intertwined with the theme and mechanics of the game. Today I had to carve out the entire right side of the body, to discover that the heart usually sits on the left. My google history log will let you know that I looked up walkthroughs ("mitochondria where in the body") And covering up for missing assets with clever story-telling - Beautiful!
My reply awaits at Old Willow Creek
Sweet game with lovely graphics and sfx! Had a lot of fun trying to beat my best score; turns out you can whack a mole several times for more points until it disappears, so as long as you click fast enough. I got 95!
I love that you replaced the traditional cursor with a hammer - it made the experience even more playful. As some of the others mentioned, perhaps a marker showing where the hammer lands would help on accuracy. Could also be interesting seeing the farmers and moles hide again after a short time :)
Anyways, excellent job!
This is such an amazing, well-written little fairytale, with beautiful music and drawings to boot. My favorite things about this:
- The plucking of strings, soft pads and flute - The fairytale itself! - How there's almost always something interesting moving on the screen - Nuts in all sorts of shapes and sizes - Cute, well drawn characters - The animals softly bouncing, when you hover over them - The visual effects added for emphasis to certain words in the story - The FIFTH, hidden nut brought by an unexpected twist to the story - How well everything is put together - The knife :bird:
A children's book come alive! Will certainly recommend this to friends :chestnut:
I'm gonna argue that this game is highly skill-based, and a fantastic entry for your first jam! Since the level doesn't last for that long, it's really tempting to give it another try.. and another.. and another :sweat_smile: I tried several different strategies, but couldn't beat my highscore of 141.
Great job on the graphics and music - and I'd say you nailed the theme 100%
Man, you guys have put a LOT of love into the details of this:
- Small pause before using a new instrument, to let the player get ready - The cyan flash on "Sublime" - Beautiful palette, matching both UI and characters - Twists and triads in the ska beats, making for a challenging final - Nice and clever transitions in the VN elements - Visual effects when going above 10x combo - Note-buttons on overalls <3
Certainly the most polished jam I've played this year. So fun - and excellent ska beats @chunderfins. bandcamp follow inc.!
(FCd first stage, but couldn't beat @bobbie's score!)
Oh no, it's gone!! :see_no_evil: I share your pain of not being able to finish the story - still think you managed to wrap it up neatly. I had to play it a second time, to see what else I could do during the interactive parts - gotta say I was surprised to see that you added side content too :heart:
All in all, a really well-executed game, with wonderful soundscape, neat animations and art style (love the old-school computer ui). And all the characters seemed to have an interesting dynamic! Well done - I'll be back for the entire thing!
Aw man, the tiny tip-toing along with the animation. And the backpack filling up, weighing him down. This is just too cute. I might come back for another attempt! I keep losing my sticks to those thorns!!
One of the most thorough and well-executed entries I've seen! A really sweet take on the theme
Tried both versions of your game! I would say that compared to paper's please, this feels way more arcade-like! Very fun and challenging, with just the right amount of art and sound effects. Definitely a game I'd replay a couple of times to end at 5/5 in rep! Great job! :)
Such a creative take on the typing genre - had tons of fun with this. It took me some time to realize that I didn't have to write down all the words to navigate around the object - another clever element! I might be wrong about this, but it seems to sometime miss letters, when you're typing too fast, which can be frustrating.
Nevertheless, amazing work done in 48 hours and good take on delivery!
That's definitely a top score on mood for me - really impressive work for 48 hours. And imagine the clock even has moving hands!!
Fantastic puzzle game; beautiful music, great art assets, amazing mechanics and very thoroughly executed! Impressive work!
Rarely do I see game entries on this scale that are bug free! It honestly seems to me like you've thought of every potential issue, like throwing items when above water - missing the mail-boxes and being able to pick up the items again, and so on.
Game itself was fun and challenging. Great atmosphere!
You even had some side characters in there! (and to think you even added a cameo character from a previous game)
Gotta say, I'm impressed! A lot of work done in only 48 hours :)
this is a banger! I love how this character's whole existence revolves around pipe bombs. Also you've really done the point n click genre justice - navigating felt great!
Solid delivery with an impressive load of assets. Art style is consistent and navigation feels really smooth too. Great work!!
(01:19 on my last attempt!)
Fantastic game - pleasant sound design, creative cards with simple fundamental modules and a fun story to top it off! Air Slash, Zone of Intellect and Channel, baby
oh man, there's so much blood!
babby.jpg
Probably one of the most on-point takes on the theme I've seen! Didn't know delivering babies could be this competitive - very fun!!
Such a sweet story :u: You've taken on a challenging theme, yet managed to write it so well! Great job for creating a branched visual novel, with sprites and everything, in only 48 hours! Super impressive
And the fact that the grand-dad came up with such a modern joke!!! Could he have used the service too? :eyes:
Such a clever and sweet game - Not sure if it was intentional, but climbing DOWN ladders, once you've climbed up got me laughing for minutes straight. Also, there IS something suspicious about Bill and Will :thinking: An innovative and true take on the theme, with a lot of incorporated elements and even a narrative! Wonderful job!

I know all too well the feeling of the deadline creeping in. And man, your intro sequence and menus are the best I've seen in any game jam submission ever before. I can tell you've put a lot of thought into the transitions!! (I felt like I was playing Stork Persona 5)
Had a look at your stream - it's impressive work, and the soundtrack you made for it is rad! :)
I used to play LF2 on PC way back - I'm amazed about how similar you've made it feel. And to write all the systems in C++ is an amazing feet - especially when it's a port for an older console (something I'd love to pick up)
Fantastic job!
AH you're the person posting about those TOMY handhelds! That sent me on a nostalgic trip on youtube - I got vague memories of playing one of those way back!
This is one of the most creative game jam entries I've ever seen. Imagine making a physical hand-held game, and making it feel like an actual toy. The only thing I was missing, was a friend whom I could share my super secret strategies with.
Asymmetric design, well placed obstacles and neat balancing! Scratches and marks from being used - genuine sound design, and an assortment of suitable backgrounds to boot. Very impressive.
The frustration of missing the hidden weapon was real, but I ended up at 1090! Thanks for making this
Lovely puzzle game! Really cool to play a game where you're forced to learn the mechanics by playing, with no instructions. Very innovative and fun little game. Great job on the art assets and sound as well for a 48 compo. Got stuck on 24 for 10 minutes - had to give up in the end!
Wow this felt weirdly nostalgic - love the rasterized graphics of realistic trees and ghosts, and the navigational mechanism combined with the map. Really enjoyable! The well composed music and the slowly darkening scene really set the mood. Excellent job
I remember playing one of your other games - The anti-harvest brigade, which I really enjoyed. I can tell that you put a lot of though into the mechanics of how this one works too!! I didn't survive for that long, but I'm almost certain I'm gonna get further if I give it another attempt! Amazing work, and very chill atmosphere!
@japayne Thanks baby boy :heart: @baturinsky Thank you! Yes, the rows were meant to work like in Tetris, but breaking up the sprites and separating blocks into new smaller blocks turned out to too much work to get in for the compo. It's a messy version of tetris :') @triangle-point Thank you! It was great fun putting it together
@pengu123 thanks man, some more time to spend on the platforming bits would be lovely
@gamebuilder thanks! glad you like the graphics and sfx!
@jacobwinters note to self that I'll spend at least an hour before final build to fix bugs like that! Thanks yeah, incorporating some way of making blocks stick if they're the only support for other blocks is something I wish I got the time to do.
@lorddaniel Thanks for good feedback - currently that part is the biggest source of frustration for me
@zundou thank you! hoping to expand the concept after the voting is over :)
@silkworm-sweatshop getting stuck really sucks, and it happens too often! Glad you like the anims, tried to put some love into them <3
@rolly You know, wall jumping would solve the biggest issue of getting stuck all the time. Thanks for that!!
Wicked good job!! MULTIPLE drawings for both characters (and really well drawn ones to boot), rhythm-game, splash screen, great UI, playable on phone and not least the catchiest beat of the century. The lose\splash-screen crunks me up.
This gave me the same type of joy I had when playing Celeste. What a marvelous piece you put together!! Story art, and not LEAST the design and levels, slowly ramping up in difficulty and complexity. Last one was tough, but finally found my way through (I wonder if might've missed one heart though..?)
Woah! Adorable character art, well written dialogue and amazing pixel art. Seems like you put a lot of effort into polishing this. I was impressed by how you made sure players won't leave a room without having picked up the sheep and such. Was worth playing through it twice for the second ending!! Great job on creating a VN RPG :)
Man that must've been the most entertaining tutorial I've ever played through. I feel stupid for not seeing the sign, must say. Love the music and art style - felt like I was playing a quality Newgrounds game. The boss seemed to break a few times, but when he sent pens and minions flying, it was a really entertaining challenge. I also like how you've embedded the grades into everything, from boss, to win/lose-screen, to the Player's health! Great job on this
What a pleasant game. Had a lot of fun decorating (and undecorating) my flat. Well done on well written monologue and, art assets and music! Love that you put in some small animations in there too. Hope the little guys in the washer will be alright. I played nut another harvest story on a previous jam, and gotta say I'm starting to become a fan of your games!
I hope these contracts aren't binding. I just agreed to Lorem Ipsum. Great fun - clever game and really well executed! Took my some attempts to get through level 5, but I finally made it! Amazing job on the music 3d assets and art as well!!
Wicked - so much fun. A really enjoyable game, and now I feel like I just in case earth gets surrounded by black holes, I now feel a bit more prepared. Just enough art and sound effect to make it feel absolute. Excellent job
I got an error saying I was running low on ram..
..and what a clever way to start a game. Had fun playing this - really clever way of working the theme into a platformer. Very innovative! :) Super job
