Silly and funny game!
Controls a bit silly to :D Good game for 6 hours!
I probably spent around 20 minutes playing this; simple, and really addictive. At first I tried to only let through the high gamblers, but they kept jackpotting me to death lol. I finally got to lvl 36 by constantly attacking everyone, prioritizing the top hats. Well done, this rocks!
Silly indeed, and chaotic! There's a big difference in scale between the different characters, so it seems only high rollers matter, and they trade money with you until one jackpots.
Simple game, felt very luck based but that makes sense for a game about a slot machine!
Some better graphics and controls would make this game really awesome, but at the current point it is pretty fun. Good job for only doing it in six hours!
The sounds are very loud and the controls do not feel right. I hate when jump'n'run games do the slidy motion and today I learned that a slot machine does not make it better. I find it really frustrating to not be able to place my slot machine exactly where I want.
Also the mechanics are not clear to me. I can "shoot" people but then they run up faster and randomly hit a jackpot to kill me, is that right? This does not make much sense to me and does not feel very intuitive.
@All thanks for the feedback and playing the game, I really appreciate it.
@gonutz Thanks for the detailed feedback! The sliding motion is something I like and quick to code so it is default style in contests. But I understand your feelings on it, perhaps a post compo version would have fixed move points for each of the background slots.
As the name suggest, it is highly unbalanced but it is supposed to be be largely random like a Slot machine. The different gamblers have a luck factor, the old lady has the highest luck but the high roller does more damage because he bets larger. Shooting at a gambler is to try to entice them to go away, it is also based on a chance rather than hit points. Each time you hit them and they are not swayed away, their move speed increases (basically they are thinking "Oh, that slot is paying out and I want to play it").
Basically the game is in hard mode right now, I had planned an Easy mode as well but only had about 6 hours to work on it in total and it wasn't a consecutive 6 hours either.
Don't know why but it's pretty addictive game
OK now I understand the motivation behind this, thanks for the detailed answer. This actually makes sense, you should have included the "story" in the game somwhow :-)
@gonutz Completely agree, I'm going to work on a description for the entry above and on itch.io so it is clear. Hope to get time to do a post jam video too
Interesting concept, a little shooting action with some simple strategy involved. The sfx are a bit obnoxious.
@red yeah i suck at making sounds. But I'd rather have bad sounds than no sounds, that's a big thing for me when I'm rating other peoples games too, no sound you lose points ;)
More fun than I thought it was going to be. But a bit unbalanced ;-) At least in the beginning it would be nice if moving between slot machines actually moved entire steps from one machine to another instead of sliding around.
Funny and charming. You got all the elements of a game in there despite only having 6 hours to work on it. Art, animation, gameplay, a score, sounds. It's hard to make something that's even playable in 6 hour so well done!
Pretty addicting to play, good job for 6 hours, you got everything you needed to have a playable fun game.
for 6 hours, its got a lot of polish. The sound effets, status sprites and the menus were a great touch of completion
I don't really get it to be honest. I could rarely shoot the high rollers enough to disuade them, and it was really a roll of the dice whether they bankrupted me or not. I like the sprites and sound effects though.
Interesting mechanical idea, I felt for sure preassure when grandmas came on me, hehehe. Maybe a bit hard to catch at beginning due to rules complexity, but it works fine. Great job!
@randomhuman Thanks for the comments! Yeah it is completely unbalanced as the name suggests. I was just lucky to get a working product in 6 hours :) If I was to make a post LD version it would certain get some balance and maybe some different players as well to make the high risk player little less frequent and maybe a visual indicator when they are "feeling lucky" which is a mechanic I wasn't able to get to. I'd change the movement to be position based as well and not free floating.
@pequenodev lol, but yeah it is definately hard to figure out and even once you do there is so much randomness that skill isn't realy useful.
@simplepotential Those sound like great ideas, I'd love to try it again if you implement them!
This game is silly and unbalanced. My last game ended when a High Roller managed to win 42 million... that did, in fact, bankrupt me ^_^. I seemed to be usually unable to stop people from playing, even if shooting them as well as I could, it seemed only about 1 in 10 actually said "Nah!" before getting to the slots. Not sure what I was doing wrong, but ended up just mostly watching them play and take my money. Liked the audio. Nice job getting something done in a short time, I also only had about 6 hours to work on my submission :).
Good for having so little time to make it! I thought it was amusing that they accelerated towards the high paying machines - I can see that in a Vegas casino in my mind as the rumor spreads. Kept me occupied for a while and the idea itself could probably be developed but I think that the objective should be made clearer in a more polished game as it was somewhat confusing (I tried to play without reading the instructions first, doh).
What are the best slots to pick up now?
@hasanis - Game mechanics haven't changed any. Click the help button for an overview but basically the slots don't matter. Firing coins entices players because they hear the slot noises thinking it is paying out. Different players have higher likelihood of winning on a slot and that's bad for you. But if you don't shoot at them then you have no chance of preventing them from getting to the slot.
Thanks for checking it out, it was fun to build but maybe not the best concept in the world.
I recall having to look up information on various slots and the like. I was looking for slot machines that would be dependable and allow me to play without difficulty. Also, where bonus schemes are available, how profitable they are, and so on. I discovered information about one of them at https://kasynoonlineautomaty.pl/hot-target/ . So I hope I was able to assist and that it was also valuable to others.
Thanks to. And I want to say that in 6 hours you have created a pretty good game that is addictive. I like the kind of games that cause interest and excitement. Lately my favorite is [slot online](https://www.punecantonmentboard.org/) I can explain why I trust this particular resource. Firstly, this is the official site, which is known for its reliability, that is, safe transactions, deposits and withdrawals. And there is also a lot of important information that you should study before you start playing for real money.
