fix link itch io please!
@lathomas64 @dearkh Fixed! Sorry for that
Cool game. Impressive what you got done for the compo.
So good! Which there was some background music to add to the ambiance but loved it! The directions/controls were easy to follow and displayed well. Artwork was very clean and polished! Great job!
Very nice - pretty complete for a compo game! The art is fantastic. Another superb Godot submission.
the king is tough!
@lathomas64 Did you end up beating him?
not tonight, but his days are numbered.
@lathomas64 I love this response
This is a lot for the Compo, the logic on these things is always very complicated. I love the style and the gameplay (slay the spire fan). It has potential.
Impressive! I couldnt work out how to beat the king, but thats probably because Im too thick :)
Fun game! Not sure I can connect it to the theme, but it played well. Nice work
Jeepers that is impressive for a game jam! Love the art style and gameplay Fantastic Job!
Fun game, I can't beat the king either. I tried a few times with different decks, but best I managed was to get him around 50hp. There's a card that requires 4 energy but you only get 3 each turn, not sure if I'm missing something there, and not sure if it's an issue with my pc's resolution but there's a set of cards I can't interact with on the deck builder, the ones at rightmost side. Other than that, this was really entertaining and I loved playing, I might even try a bit more and see if it's actually possible to beat the king.
This game is great! Really impressive you were able to do this in the span of a compo. Would love if there was a full screen button on the WebGL build. Bug Report: The Phoenix heals even on a turn when it took 20 damage. The text says it was stunned but it still seems to act, deal damage, and heal itself. I LOVE analyzing the enemy and trying to figure out what kind of deck to use against it. Best game I've played this LD so far.
Good game. The art is really nice too.
As a huge fan of STS, i loved this one ! Very nice polish for a 48h
@payaosito What resolution were you playing on?
@candlesan Thank you for the kind words! I've fixed that bug, thanks for the report
@rustywolf My screen res is 2560x1440, I just played on the web on itch, no fullscreen. Ones under and behind the start button are the ones I can't interact with. scrensn.png
Fantastic game!! I wasn't able to beat the king, but it was awesome trying out different combinations. Really like the cohesiveness of the graphics, and the amount of depth you managed to get in here (very impressive for compo). Great job!
This game is executed really well! It is the best one I have played yet.
@payaosito I'll have that fixed soon, also going to put downloads up in case of further issues
@payaosito Can you test now please?
Very fun game and incredible for a jam! Few things: - Could you allow fullscreen on your itch page - Mana and energy are synonyms which make the understand of the game a bit confusing, I would have also called what is energy mana. Maybe mana for energy and something more niche for your mana like "magical points" or just gold would have make it more clear!
I love draft game more than deck building game, but your entry is really amazing, congrats!
really fun game! just has some issue with the resolution
Dear, King I did not like it when you beat me to the ground it hurt, You are hereby banned from using my services: Wizard delivery Inc. UNTIL THE END OF TIME!
Insanely good
Really enjoyed the game!
Art style and graphics are amazing. Beat the king with the following build: ``` Magic Missles x3 Ice Block x2 Channel x2 Arcane Shell x1 Fire Strike x1 ```
Nice game!
@pauljs added fullscreen support
Really liked this game. I have not yet beaten the king, but will certainly come back to try again.
such a good game, it's pretty impressive that you manage to do all that in 48h
I'm a big card game fan and this game is really good and honestly really impressive for a game jam entry. The art is pretty nice too! I'd love to see you expand this game after the jam and add more cards and mechanics.
Love deck builders and this scratches that itch, very impressive with a deck builder in a compo submission! Had some trouble with the king at first but then figured out a magic missiles build that worked out. Well done with the game!
Getting all those card effects and art done in 48 hours is impressive. The king was difficult at first, but it was a fun puzzle to think through. Not sure if it's intended, but I only had 3 energy in the king fight and couldn't use any 4-energy cards.
The build I used to beat the king: ``` Air Slash x3 Channel x3 Zone of Intellect x2 Arcane Shell x1 ```
My entire build centers around using Zone of Intellect to buff Air Slash because that card is amazing. Big damage and big block all for 1 energy and 1 mana! Just have to sacrifice some early health for buffs.
@rustywolf Looks good now!
@djtequila theres a card called "Preparation" that grants an additional 3 energy the turn after its played, which can be used to get the 4 cost card to be playable
@payaosito thank you for confirming!
@rustywolf Yup, my bad. I even used that card in other rounds but completely forgot about it.
Nice little card game! Adding mana to the usual energy economy feels like a fresh take. I expected to preserve unused energy, though. All the fights feel unique. I like how you executed the transitions between fights, the orders you get from the crown and the deck preparation.
I would change the location of deck and discard piles. Currently you can confuse them to indicate enemy deck.
Good job!
Impressive for a compo game! I had a good bit of fun with this one.
This is an amazing game, well executed, especially for a COMPO entry!
First I thought it would be another typical card game, but then the mechanics were pretty solid. Reminds me of such classics as Slay the Spire. I can totally imagine having some animations too in some post-mortem entry. I really enjoyed the card mechanics and the idea that I can build my own decks. Very cool, definitely one of the best games I've played so far.
Impressive that you were able to make a cohesive deck-builder in 48 hours! Great work!
I fought like a lion, defeating the first two enemies quite easily. The third enemy turned out to be quite strong, and it required going through all the cards again. Of course, it would have been more interesting if the cards were studied according to the difficulty of the enemy; maybe I'm missing something. In any case, the game turned out to be good, excellent work.
Really fun, theme felt a little bit forced into the game, but as a standalone deckbuilder it's great. Interesting deckbuilding options and a unique take on mana/energy. Impressive stuff for a 48hour jam.
Great entry! Super clear gameplay, well-communicated rules. Cute visuals. I love perfect information games where you know what the enemy is going to do. Enjoyed that element here, fun to strategize.
I don't normally play deckbuilders so didn't crack the puzzle of the last battle.
A lot of content for a game jam. Impressive you packed so much in in just a few days
Well done on putting together a deck builder in such a short amount of time! Had fun beating the king with a magic missiles deck. Would have liked to see a bit more feedback and animations for getting hit/playing the cards - maybe some of screenshake could be nice, but I understand the limitations of the time.
Very impressive, especially for a compo entry! I admire the boldness of deciding to make a deckbuilder. The theme inclusion felt like a bit of a stretch, but regardless the game was very fun to play about with!
This is impressive, nice work! I've always liked card games and you did this one right.
@adam-gould originally the game was going to include a map to traverse, but that idea got cut quickly for scope reasons, as I'd never be able to make enough enemies to feel like it was a full map. But the idea of collecting potion ingredients and delivering it to the king stayed
Awesome game! Huge slay the spire fan, love what you've done here and the cards you've designed. The King was very hard until I realized how much Magic Missiles scale in a long fight. CLAW IS LAW
@bokchoyboy Claw is indeed law, thank you for playing!
Absolutely adore this game - deeply impressed with how balanced you were able to make it, and in such short time. A friend and I worked together to craft the perfect deck to defeat the king, allowing us to explore several mechanics and engross ourselves in this well polished gem of a game.
Excellent work! You should be very proud!
*Potion seller, I am going into battle, and I require your strongest potions.* Well made, and I'm a huge fan of card games. Was a little difficult to see what exactly was happening in the game at times, but a great entry overall.
Had a hard time beating the king! Really polished and interesting!
I love games like this. Would love to see this expanded on. Could not beat the king, haha. Awesome game!
super impressive entry! i love how snappy everything feels. also wanted to laud you on the readability of the game, sometimes digital card games can struggle with information overload or explaining the rules to the player, but you've managed to overcome both of those!
Great game. Love the deckbuilding aspect! Seems very polish and customizable. Controls are straightforward and gameplay feels natural. Love the card art and all the graphics too! Overall great work!
really love the card designs, super cute and super fun game!
Really good game! Beautiful cards, and solid gameplay.
Nice and completed! Hope it can be developed into a whole game.
Wow, pulling together a deckbuilder in a weekend? Nice job!
Very well done with the art and logics for this must be a great system in the background working to get this to where it is. I did not beat the boss tho :(
Stylish art! It is already deluxe for a jam, as well the classic card building made the gameplay solid.
Fun little well polished card battler! Beat the king twice with an air slash focused deck (x3 air slash, x3 zone of intellect, x2 Channel, x1 Ice Wall) Very well balanced entry such that it was a challenge, but not an impossible one. Great work!
Insane you managed to pull this off. I love deckbuilders and the fact you managed to make one for Ludum Dare is so cool. You could definitely expand on this and turn it into a full game. Everything is so simple to understand and yet there's some really cool synergy to pull off here. Fantastic work!
Cool game! Loved playing around with some different decks. Was able to beat the king with Air slashes, Zone of intellect and card draw. Great entry!
I'm a sucker for a good deckbuilder, and this really hooked me. Great design, lots of interesting a fun styles of decks to be made. Concise visual and gameplay loops. Very well done!
Fantastic game - pleasant sound design, creative cards with simple fundamental modules and a fun story to top it off! Air Slash, Zone of Intellect and Channel, baby
I really like it, the graphics, and the gameplay. It was tricky at first to comprehend what's going on, but once you play a couple of turns, it gets easier. Nice work !
Really fun stuff, making a deckbuilder for compo is bonkers man! Huge well done, boss felt a bit hard but I can't blame you, encourages experimentation.
Wow, it feels like a full mobile game (mean that as a compliment, for a gamejam) ! Impressive ! Well done ! Don't know if it's a bug from my side, but I hadn't any music during the play.
nice visuals, the gameplay feels balanced and polished
I always love deck building games, and this one was no exception ! Great job in so little time !
I really liked this! My only feedback is that the game itself needs more feedback to make it more clear what's going on. Early on it was hard to visualize what everything was doing and the enemy moves in particular. Since this is a compo game though I totally understand there wasn't any time for that. The card synergies felt really well thought out and coming up with a deck to beat the final enemy was really fun. He seemed almost unfair at first since he doesn't ever have resting turns but it made figuring out a strategy much more fun.
Here's the deck I used in the end. My strategy was to sacrifice health on the first few turns in order to draw lots of cards and build up mana. Once I had enough cards, I kept using lightning strike, channel and preparation to keep the king permanently stun-locked Screenshot 2023-05-03 123802.png
Overall I really enjoyed the strategy in this!
Spent way too long on this game ahah, showing how good it is ! Here is my end deck (Consistently beats the king)
The strategy is to block damage and build up mana using **Ice Wall** at first, while playing **Zone of Interest** whenever possible to up the damage of **Meteor Strike** and **Air Slash**. Conveniently, uping the damage of **Air Slash** also ups its blocking power when you have at least 1 mana.
Use Channel only if nothing else avilable.
Block, Poke, up your damage with zone of Interest, then once the king is below 50 health and enters Rage mode, you only need 1 or 2 turns to hold before ending him rightly with a meteor strike at 40-50 dmg Screenshot 2023-05-03 152605.png
I used magic missile, ice wall, 2x channel and 1x research + Great game, nice art, decent sound, and the mana build up was interesting.
Really good for a compo entry! King was too hard for me :(
This is such a cool game and so well polished!
Even though I understand the art style and the limited resolution which makes everything feel very coherent, I think I would have preferred being able to read the card text in the deck builder without inspecting them. Other than that I think it's very impressive how much you have accomplished in such a short time without it feeling unfinished in any department :)
Nice!
One of the best games of this game jam. I loved it. I like the dialogue you put in to add a bit of a story. The art was great, and the gameplay was awesome. I'm curious how you managed to set all these up. Are there any libraries you used to help? I'd love to learn more about what worked for your dev flow. Also, Go Godot!
@wadlo no libraries. Source code was provided, if you want to dig through it!
nice game, this game is very potential,I would like to see the updates ,game idea is great, wish to have more effect of each card,or hit effect, nice job man
Pretty full-featured for a compo entry! There's lots of little ways you could have polished this up a bit, but what you've got here is already impressive for just 48 hours.
Wow, that looks amazingly polished for a compo, well done! I love the graphics style. The cards immediately brought back all the time spent playing Slay the Spire, but overall pixel-arty style kept it visually distinct from it.
I've reached The King. First card I played was the Ice Wall and it caused the game to crash to desktop. I tried it again and it worked all fine, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Anyway, I've managed to beat The King after three tries and it left me wanting more. :)
This is such a good idea! When I clicked on this potion-brewing game, I wasn't expecting to discover a card-based game inside. Exciting! I think all it's missing is music tbh. A great entry!
Wow! Really cool! couldn't beat the last level, as it was too difficult for me. Amazing entry! Love the art.
I like how when you beat the first level, you instantly get access to all types of new cards, rather than the cards are unlocked based of your progression. My favorites are Magic Missiles, Research, Preparation and Arcane Shell.
Very impressive amount of content for the compo, awesome job! Fun deckbuilding game.
Fun figuring out different viable strategies! I came up with 3 solid decks to beat the king (air slash + walls + damage boost, lightning + prep + draw 2, and magic missiles + I forgot what).
Very nice compo and fun game! Would be nice to be able to read the cards without needing to hover it. Anyway really cool and simple mechanics that just works! Level design was on point also, good job.
Always love deckbuilding games and this one is super well done! Really liked trying out the different combos - as a slay the spire player (seems like you are as well with all the defect references), I couldn't avoid making a ~~claw~~ (magic missile) deck, but also had fun with a lightning strike deck and a meteor strike deck.
Awesome job, only thing I'd really ask for is more levels and cards :)
(oops accidentally double commented and don't know how to delete this..)
I'm not really into deckbuilding games, but I definitely enjoyed playing this.
Fun game! I like that the different encounters presented different challenges that required me to switch up my deck.
Wow! Great game! Would be nice to have some effects and animations to indicate what happens. Nice job!
Really nice game, I liked putting together the right deck to defeat the enemy, and the cards have unique effects as well.
Good game, although I found the fact that individual effects are not visible (i.e. damage ideally should show per each card visually, etc. to make it clearer) and some graphical glitches especially on the deck select screen.
One of my favs from this jam! I love the variety of cards you have that encourages different playstyles
King defeated. 2x research 2x Lightning Strike 2x Preparation 2x Channel 1X Zone of Intellect
Hitting for 30 with each lightning strike and stunning the opponent made it not too bad.
