LD53 — Delivery

Delivery Squares by Elementary 2023-05-02T05:24:53Z

i like this exploration of the delivery mechanic! i think with some sort of increasing difficult & upgrade system this could be quite addicting

Terror in transit by tinykidtoo 2023-05-02T02:05:21Z

even at just 2 levels, this game is very impressive & got a couple good chuckles out of me :) i'm no good at stealth games but saw it to the end. also love the visuals & overall presentation, it's very earnest!

Please Mr. Postman by josemwarrior 2023-05-02T01:31:51Z

surprised myself with how close i got sometimes! controls were a lil finnicky on web, but fun little game & great tune

Deliver Them by baknik 2023-05-02T01:02:52Z

well done! the mothership / earth mechanic is simple but elegant. i could see this being very addicting if the spaceship had slippery controls & the tractor beam was physics-based

Inbox Fool by 100th_Coin 2023-05-04T04:11:30Z

this is a wonderfully put together little puzzle platformer! i would have liked to see either more interplay between the bomb-tossing and level-collider-moving mechanics, or to just see one of them removed. both had their little awkwardnesses that made most levels feel mostly like fidgeting around with just a couple centimeters of leeway involved in any solution. regardless, fantastic job with this very impressive entry!

Bord by guin36 2023-05-02T02:50:02Z

this is a very charming game :) the losing bord mechanic reminds me a lot of yoshi's island, a neat & enjoyable mechanic! the controls were a little slippery & had their quirks (the jump feels more like a jetpack), but i think this really added to this experience! i love a platformer that feels unique

Ultimate Pigeon Post by Yorsh 2023-05-17T03:54:08Z

love the presentation! the parallaxing and spritework are really lovely. i think the movement & camera smoothing were a bit too slidey for my liking, so i couldn't get past level 7. but fun little experience!

City Transport Ordeal by LCStark 2023-05-17T04:52:41Z

maybe i'm just bad at driving games but it felt like there was something odd going on with the steering & deceleration. regardless, cute & pure take on the delivery concept and well put together! also a bit odd to mention but i love the pause menu, it feels really nicely implemented!

Neverending PetriChore by snakemuho 2023-05-17T03:38:24Z

lovely atmosphere and movement mechanics! this is a really unique entry and there's some great bits in here. i think it would have been nice to include an umbrella at the start as a tutorial but otherwise well done!

Rhino Express by Mahjoub 2023-05-02T06:28:46Z

blew me away! what a wonderfully paced & creative puzzler with great art. congrats!

Don't Chute the Messenger by DecadeDecaf 2023-05-02T02:23:00Z

the presentation is phenomenal, and the "going up and down" inversion of the chutes and ladders mechanic was a pleasant surprise. well done!

The Convoy by Vectrex28 2023-05-17T03:43:12Z

this is phenomenal! the core gameplay loop is so simple but everything about it from the level design, enemies, movement & shooting is so polished and works directly in its service. and the presentation is delightful. amazing work!

Deliver letters... IN SPACE by Phoenix Fireflower 2023-05-04T05:17:35Z

i love the clever interpretation of a theme and mix of arcade & word game mechanics! maybe i just didn't play it enough to let all the mechanics saturate, but the right click & ? mechanics usually elided me during gameplay and had me spamming. the visual polish in particular is really great, nice work!

A$AP Boxy by maxflav 2023-05-04T04:57:18Z

oh wow! this is a delightful little concept. i finally beat it, took me quite a bit of time to get through all 5 levels, but i'm glad i did. you've made a really nice little brainteaser! i think i echo some of the other concerns about having to wait to see your actions, but it does have the effect of making you really think through your solutions. level 3 was the toughest for me, but once i got the habit of figuring out how to "distinguish" between boxes, the rest of the game was very enjoyable. really enjoyed this entry!

30 Minutes Or Your Potion's Free by Rustywolf 2023-05-02T03:45:10Z

super impressive entry! i love how snappy everything feels. also wanted to laud you on the readability of the game, sometimes digital card games can struggle with information overload or explaining the rules to the player, but you've managed to overcome both of those!

Crystallium by MikoziQ 2023-05-02T03:58:50Z

this game is beautifully presented and a delightful iteration of a classic runner concept! i got to about 106 before calling it, since i think i could have gone on a lot longer haha, but i was having a lot of fun with it. the physics interaction that happens when you hit an obstacle is hilarious & works really well for the player, not sure how you did it but it works very well. great job!

Monster Mail by CodeRaurus 2023-05-04T05:25:51Z

the game is a little bit simple and some mechanics go unused, but i was really enticed by the premise & the inclusion of stats that don't have gameplay impact really had me thinking about where this idea could go! this is a really great core concept and would love to see it expanded upon.

it goes without saying that you've also done a great job with the art and presentation. i love the world and little creatures you've crafted here, it feels so cozy and full of charm! also like the random generation touches with the quests & characters

Delivery from Space by SinusQuell 2023-05-02T01:26:54Z

nice take on a tried & true format. the ambient track was pretty!

Deliver Them From Sin by ugly_robot 2023-05-02T02:57:57Z

i don't think this game is rushed or ugly at all! you've got great polished visuals and a very competent set of platformer controls. the way moves combo into and out of each other is very thoughtful and actually works really well! i think my main feedback would be the camera / level design -- i didn't see it through to the end after a couple deaths. but you should be proud, this is a really impressive little runner :)

The Silver Fleet by KyleTheCoder 2023-05-02T04:21:44Z

this was a nice little experience :) i love all the visual polish, everything is so juicy and bouncy. ghost ship made me LOL

The Envelope by DzejPi 2023-05-17T04:40:22Z

spooky!! i like how the change in mood is accompanied by a change in mechanics. the sound design is also really nice and i love the graphical touches -- the skybox and dithered "bleed" UI are nice!

Crunch Time by made3 2023-05-04T03:56:44Z

clever, chaotic, lo-fi, funny! i also love the immersive feel from the physics interactions, environment design, and audio. great work!

demaker.s game by Kent Lizardo 2023-05-02T04:15:58Z

had a smile on my face the entire time! the fake intro screen & controller screenspace mechanics are immersive and clever. the spritework and modelling is lovely. IMO this game has *perfect* pace for a jam game, and is filled to the brim with neat little ideas (the names of the consoles being classes, the use of earlier consoles for higher firing speed, creative gun designs & weapon reload animations). really well done! my only feedback would be the level design could be a bit more robust, but it's not really noticeable with how much cool stuff there is in here!

Winter Factory by Jul._.li 2023-05-17T04:45:44Z

the chain of thinking the player has to go through is very novel! it's a fun little brain teaser, if a bit easy and slow for my tastes. graphics and sound are lovely too

Its All in the Delivery by Glove 2023-05-02T01:54:17Z

i'm not sure if you intended for it to be read as a sort of surreal, pilotredsun-esque fever dream, but that's what i got and i totally love it. really great use of visual & audio polish to create an atmosphere, and clever combination of mechanics! could totally see a "singleplayer jackbox games" mechanic taking off

Giggle Groove by badcop 2023-05-02T05:30:24Z

the core mechanic is very novel and surprisingly fun. you had me laughing at quite a few of those jokes too! great work, it's a really fun little game :)

The Mailman by Castitatis 2023-05-04T05:46:36Z

lovely little beat em up! the visual polish here is wonderful, and the idea of a mailman taking letters from mailboxes is pretty funny. would have liked to see a combo or uppercut or something, but had fun till the end!

Soul Weaver by ollie_d 2023-05-02T05:17:57Z

it's so impressive that you made the soundtrack using physical instruments! i loved the final boss theme and the overall mood & humor of the game was great. the core concept is very novel, if a bit shallow, but i think it could work really well in a 1v1 tabletop game. well done!

Delivery Dungeon by Buni 2023-05-17T03:48:10Z

it's impressive how many mechanics you were able to get in here! the upgrade system, minimap, and enemy variety are a really nice touch. was very fun to upgrade the character, great work!

Ultimate Package by Triangle Point 2023-05-04T05:35:35Z

what a nice little adventure! i enjoyed the world constructed by boxes, in general i love this over-the-top take on the delivery theme! also would like to point out the sprites switching from facing forward to facing sideways, which is a neat touch i don't think i've seen many or any games do!

Space Cannon Delivery Service by Chuckiee 2023-05-04T05:05:23Z

i think you've really nailed the difficulty curve & progression of mechanics here! i was initially not super intrigued by the whole concept of having to deliver multiple packages, having a limited supply per retry, and having the retry button only pop up when you're running low. but it works really well in this context to keep the player faithfully engaging with the mechanics (and especially during the level when there is more than 1 destination). the graphics are nice and i like the polish of the box permanence. great job!

Slalom Pizza Delivery Service by SpeakWithPlants 2023-05-02T03:26:07Z

high score 624! this game is super addictive. the movement & controls feel super fluid, and the mechanic of losing score when hitting houses is perfectly frustrating. graphics are very nice too! well done

De-Livery: A Game About Organ Removal Surgery by Real_Human_1000 2023-05-02T01:44:02Z

the squashing & stretching of the liver is a lovely little facet of design (and made me laugh). got 3730 points. great work!

Sorting Center Savant by ZungryWare 2023-05-04T03:43:48Z

this is a wonderfully designed puzzle game! as the other comments have stated, it's clear how much attention you gave to the level design & artfully teaching the mechanics to the player. well done! would have liked mouse support (both in camera and control of gameplay elements), and i didn't really love the gun mechanic (or at least the destroying of conveyor belts felt awkward to me), but otherwise really enjoyed my time with this one

Sorting Center Savant by ZungryWare 2023-05-06T01:39:08Z

@zungryware i think just from a cohesion perspective, your game had a good focus on just a few simple mechanics, and the destruction of conveyor belts felt unnecessary almost? firstly i didn't expect it (perhaps because of the model size), and secondly i didn't think it added as much depth as the other mechanics. i'm totally nitpicking here but just elaborating because you asked haha. still love the game and the lasers were a net positive overall!

The Delivering of Christ - The trials of Mary by Trakina 2023-05-04T03:52:21Z

nice little survival game! i enjoyed the quirky dialogue, subtle day night cycle, and simple but effective spritework

Isles Express by Cinterre 2023-05-04T05:40:59Z

the sound design & graphics work together really well to achieve that style of careful, precision arcade game like lunar lander~ i had a bit of difficulty on controller since the up and down on the control stick would change the throttle, but otherwise could manage the controls on keyboard! great work :)

Two For Flinching by SoulReviews 2023-05-02T01:39:39Z

lovely graphic design & presentation, and a nice execution of a pure concept. the ending made me laugh :)

Return To Sender by hacktic 2023-05-17T04:59:06Z

great polish on display here & perfect complexity ramping. UK one got me as others have pointed out but otherwise love all the increasing challenges

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-02T02:08:28Z

@baknik thank you! i'm glad it came together :)

@sinusquell hehe, i had fun plucking together some random sound effects, glad they worked for ya!

@jk5000 thanks for playing! i definitely cranked the difficulty up, perhaps a bit much ;)

@josemwarrior thank you! glad some of the humor shone through

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-02T04:58:09Z

@speakwithplants the idle chatter was fun to add~

@liven thanks for trying it though! in retrospect the game is a bit tough :)

@elementary appreciate the feedback! yeah, i think i was a little numb to how disorienting the movement mechanic is at first after playing it so long. would like to smoothen out the intro if i ever did something with the idea again!

@ollie-d hehe, glad someone caught the bloxorz inspiration!

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-03T01:28:31Z

@zungryware sorry about the frustration, i hope you still had fun playing it :) totally agree about the unskippable dialogue & lack of an undo system. the former escaped me in the final hours of submission, while the latter was an intentional concession from the start since it'd be a bit of engineering feat to get it all working in time. and FWIW, definitely didn't mean to "gotcha" with the level exit popping up at the end! anyway, thanks for the kind words and for playing! there's only one more screen after that one, and it's just a little ending screen.

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-03T01:31:19Z

@elementary right! that's the ending, definitely a little abrupt & unclear, but intentionally so on my part ;) i think the closest games are bloxorz and stephen's sausage roll, but the core concept of the game actually came from messing around with pistons in minecraft. thanks for coming back to finish it!

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-03T01:32:30Z

@ugly-robot thanks so much for noticing the worldbuilding & aesthetics! it's a little heavy-handed, but i'm glad it worked for you, i actually think it's what i'm proud of most in this entry.

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-06T01:37:04Z

@robertthebastian i promise Bell is strapped in so it's (fairly) comfy in there! thanks for playing :)

@zealous-coder one of the tiles in that level has a dark blue square on it! would have liked to put a better visibility texture / model instead

@chuckiee totally agree about the skipping text. thanks for checking it out though!

@stefan-funke i definitely noticed this about the core concept. i think some of the later puzzles do a better job at emphasizing planning out your moves vs. randomly moving around. so if i ever did anything with this idea in the future, i'd love to smooth out the beginning to force the player to get a better understanding of the character movement!

@coderaurus thanks for the compliments! the dialogue overflowing was an intentional choice actually, i thought it was kind of endearing!

@cinterre definitely was an inspiration! thanks for checking my game out, even if you weren't great at it :D

earthmover by dishwand 2023-05-19T00:50:36Z

@lcstark thanks so much for the comprehensive review & thoughtful feedback, it's really appreciated :)

actually, about halfway through the development i started to realize that the core puzzle mechanic was, as others have described, a little bit cumbersome. i think the "language" that the player learns as they figure out how to control the cube is actually much better suited to a fast paced puzzle-arcade game. so, thanks so much for sending Devil Dice, i'd never heard of it and this game is fascinating!

LD55 — Summoning

Summoner Chess by seurimas 2024-04-28T21:04:43Z

hmm, accumulated slowdown in the web build made it so i had to quit when i had about 13 mana

interesting game! i haven't played a chess-style auto battler so the mechanics are a little hard to get. i just kinda spammed angels and it seemed to work well.

the graphics are effective, i only wish the game could be controlled entirely with mouse, but that's understandable for a jam game. great work!

Age of Research by ping78 2024-04-21T21:12:29Z

extremely impressive entry, completing a whole 3d RTS in 48 hours! the controls were a little iffy for me, specificaly with edge scrolling + right clicking misbehaving on a browser.

the core gameplay loop works very well! it was a bit tricky for me since the creeps would clump up on a geyser and i instantly died when i tried to approach it, so overall a fun challenge!

Runic Distractions by 1y1e 2024-04-21T21:20:55Z

this is just way too fun. i love the hectic style of gameplay, and i don't think i've ever played a game with an input scheme like yours. love the little details like the candle flame and the ending made me lol. fantastic entry!

Nexus by denvil 2024-04-28T20:10:12Z

there's an impressive amount of systems interacting here! i was able to figure it out pretty easily.

i found that the scaling was a bit off, so i wasn't able to get very far in the game. i couldn't really figure out what the lose condition was but it just said i failed. regardless, lots of interesting ideas in this entry, congrats!

Unsummoner's Saga: Disaster in the Village by josemwarrior 2024-04-19T04:15:29Z

i love the minimalistic graphics, the tile-based art is charming and well-executed. the premise is cute too, it reminds me a bit of the old "GROW" games. nice work :)

Nose Deep In A Book by Yorsh 2024-04-21T21:59:45Z

this is extremely cool. probably don't have much useful feedback other than i wish the third puzzle was a little different from the third. by far this is the coolest sigil-drawing implementation i've seen this jam. not to mention the adorable graphics and soundtrack. great work!!

Summoning Ritual by velvetlobster 2024-04-19T02:40:06Z

d'aww, this is absolutely adorable. what a nice little romp, congratulations on your game :)

Tom Has Joined a Cult by LCStark 2024-04-19T02:25:12Z

very meditative! the gameplay reminds me of some early mario party minigames. i would have liked to see an extra mechanic or two, but i appreciate the focus as well. good job!

Infinite Infight by QuadApe 2024-04-29T04:50:57Z

what a fun novel concept. everything is so well polished and put together. no notes here, just a great and impressive compo entry!

Athention, Please! by fnelix 2024-04-29T05:02:04Z

very cute! i feel as though our games have some similarities :)

i like how you can correct your mistake by intentionally miscounting votes in order to not fail the level. cool game!

Too Many Minions! by RNGames 2024-04-21T21:03:01Z

this is just way too cool. it's extremely juicy, the levels are thoughtful, and surprisingly fun. i didn't think such a simple mechanic would have so many emergent possibilities. the free play mode at the end is a nice touch. congratulations on such an impressive entry!

Hentoad by Nazorus 2024-04-28T20:18:51Z

what an impressive entry, and to create a 3d platformer in 48 hours? well done!

the switching mechanic (especially once i realized you could do it in air) is perfectly simple for a compo game but there's a surprising amount of depth. really impressed with how fun it is to control the hen and the toad together.

the air control was the one mechanic i found super frustrating. congrats on the game!

Autobahn to Hell by Revetoon 2024-04-28T19:56:23Z

that level transition!?? extremely cool visuals and polish on this one!!

very well done three little levels too! i wish the car steering / acceleration had a little more inertia/acceleration to it. congrats on the game!

Against the Titan by CodeRaurus 2024-04-19T04:23:32Z

speed speed speed speed speed

love the upgrade take on a rhythm game! the hand animations and followers made me laugh, and all the art is fantastic. nice work!

Saturna's Hand by parkuhrmd 2024-04-19T03:42:39Z

love the presentation, the music and graphics fit the theme very well!

the mechanics are thoughtful and well-designed, and play together off each other. i think it's a little too "analysis paralysis" for me, with being able to redo your entire turn. but some others might like that zen aspect of it!

Zoomancy by ugly_robot 2024-04-19T02:37:34Z

wow, phenomenal presentation. all the little particles and illustrations are super cute! the sigil drawing is such a nice exploration of the theme mechanic too. i like the little touches like how some of the sigils resemble what object they create.

p.s. what is "elated" vs "happy"? is it just how long you took?

Symthesis by ollie_d 2024-04-19T02:10:08Z

super pleasantly surprised by this! the theming works so well with the mechanics, and it's a very novel and polished puzzle game. i remember your ld53 entry, and once again the soundtrack doesn't disappoint. well done!

Throw Hands!! by FootLettuce 2024-04-28T20:03:33Z

the postprocessing, VFX, camera angle, and simple environment design work together really well to make your adorable character art pop! with animations and a little more polish you'd be visually at a level i expect from a released game, so, phenomenal work there.

the gameplay is a little simplistic but i think it gets the point across in terms of what the game could look like with more development. really great work on this compo entry!

p.s. i love the deer archer

And Don't Open Your Mouth Again by ZungryWare 2024-04-19T03:19:09Z

quick minor frustrations: sfx were a little harsh for my ears so i had to mute them, scroll bar wouldn't stay at the bottom.

the good: very well written, the procedural conversation is very interesting and well done. the "logic puzzle-ness" of it seems to largely make sense. UX is about as good as i could want from a purely text based game, but i think it'd be a lot more playable with a more explorable user interface.

unfortunately, i couldn't finish it. i have to assume there's a couple endings: get 4 people to agree to jury nullify, get 4 people to agree the cop thing is suspicious, etc. but 30 minutes in and i think i'll have to stick with 3 not guilty votes as a personal record. i don't think that's necessarily a flaw.

congrats on the unique and very complete game!

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-04-19T01:54:31Z

@ollie-d thank you for playing, i'm glad you think the assets worked well :)

@warren-fisher argh, I committed the cardinal sin of not adjusting the difficulty correctly! thank you!

@themaskedman thank you for the recommendation! i've been totally burnt out post-jam, so i'm finally getting around to doing anything with it haha.

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-04-19T04:03:58Z

@gus-goucher glad you enjoyed it!

@azure-drake totally agree! proper AI navigation would have fixed this but it was a bit too much of a time sink

@davidd thanks for giving it a try!

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-04-19T04:03:58Z

[double post]

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-04-21T21:41:38Z

@linky439 thank you! hehe, mixed the music a little low since i was a bit disappointed in how it turned out.

@coderaurus thank you for playing and noting the accessibility option!

@flying-dog-fish yeah, totally understand the small window thing. i intentionally designed the game at a lower resolution, and halfway through the compo i was like "wait a minute this is way better suited for higher resolution". thanks for playing!

@asatrain the answer is "not very intelligently" ;) there is basically no pathfinding, hence all the collisions. would have loved to add it with time. thank you!

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-04-22T05:37:52Z

@digitaliliad thanks for playing it on stream! you're doing a great service to the community

@yorsh glad you liked act 4!! thanks for playing :)

@wendel-scardua good catch!! i totally forgot to add that

@eric-nguyen thanks for the praise!! there's a couple base models, a texture atlas for the albedo and eyes, and randomized horns. so the models are randomized through code but pretty naively.

Court Summons by dishwand 2024-05-01T04:13:16Z

@lcstark thank you for such detailed feedback! omg, then nudge mechanic is the *perfect* low-time-commitment solution to this problem. wish i would have thought of it!

@poppymacaroon thank you for playing, and the meme!

@piero-pbes-studio thank you!!

@henk omg, that's a clever thought about a secret ending. you get props for trying ahha. thanks for playing!

Boneworks by Imbajoe 2024-04-28T20:35:59Z

interesting idea, i like the simplicity of the plants-vs-zombies style mechanics but in a more open 2d world.

i found the enemy skeleton vs friendly skeleton graphics a bit confusing at first, and could not make any progress after trying several different strategies (mouse cursor would also clip at the bottom of the screen preventing me from accessing bottom trees). regardless, clever ideas on display and great work!

The Cleansing by henk 2024-04-28T20:54:28Z

so good! sound design and graphics were very effective. the last puzzle stumped me for a bit but i eventually figured it out. great work!

The Summoning Goes On by Inkweeper 2024-04-28T20:23:11Z

oh!! this is extremely clever and well put together. it reminds me a lot of "super crate box", where increasing your score requires putting yourself directly in harm's way. agreeing with some of the other comments about difficulty scaling and wanting maybe a little more complexity, but the game idea itself on display here is gold. great work!

No Tea Time for Slimes by HermitGamesmiths 2024-04-21T20:53:35Z

cute little puzzle platformer! i love the graphics and the little story you tell. congrats on the game!

mouche(s)? by PieRo_PBeS_studio 2024-04-28T20:31:46Z

adorable!! i love the humorous dialogue and all the juice makes the throwing mechanic super satisfying. well done!

A Following Wind by digitaliliad 2024-04-21T21:38:21Z

love it! reminds me of an old iphone game called flight control. the wind particles and graphics are very effective, as is the audio in contributing to the overall mood. though it got hectic quick, i feel like i wish it would have kept scaling up or getting faster. great work!

Heaven Divers by ThomasZane 2024-04-21T21:29:40Z

interesting little game! i found that the zombies were never able to catch up, and i was barely able to use the duplication spell because they would move away from my area (or the target would collide into my area). but i like the fighting-game style inputs and the juice of the UI

Jury Summons - When Duty Calls by Warren Fisher 2024-04-19T02:20:07Z

absolutely adoring the mood of this game. you did a great job with the soundtrack and character designs, and the mechanics of interviewing to weed out bad jurors is clever and hilarious.
