Nice game!

kykypy3o8 2023-04-30 17:50

great hit on the theme)

aushijo 2023-05-01 07:19

nice art!

chuckiee 2023-05-01 08:32

Thank you so much!

jdah 2023-05-01 10:05

really well done! my only wish is for more levels. edit: music is also... interesting, but somehow fitting

haselkern 2023-05-01 10:08

Very challenging, I like it! The only thing that bugged me a little was the short music loop that got repetitive very quick.

kgurniak91 2023-05-01 10:46

Nice, physics allow for some kind of emerging gameplay and surprising trajectories.

nekowei 2023-05-01 11:32

Really fun game! Very good point of view for the theme. bgm and sound also interesting. simple graphics but very fine level design, good job!

tasakasama 2023-05-01 19:34

It would have been nice to see the previous shooting angles done because it's hard to see for me

chuckiee 2023-05-02 05:40

@jdah @haselkern @kgurniak91 @nekowei Thank you all! I'd say music isn't my strong suit, but glad you all liked the game :D @tasakasama I thought about adding that, but I was out of time, sorry for that.

sdelay 2023-05-02 14:13

One of the best compo I've played so far. Love the try and retry logic. All depends on the angle and the power, and sometime on moving planets. I managed to hit the planet for credits  Damn that was fun!

ahsoo 2023-05-02 15:08

Such a simple but fun idea! Love your take on the theme, the simple yet refined look of the artstyle, and the game itself! I feel bad for all those random people I hit with my missed launches.

silkworm-sweatshop 2023-05-02 23:40

I feel like I see these planet/gravity games almost every LD but I always find them fun. This one Feels pretty good. I like how even failed boxes stay on a planet and may even be pushed into the goal by other boxes like you're playing cosmic pool. I googled Beepbox btw and it seems like an excellent jam tool, especially if you're not a musician. I feel like many people don't even try to add music if they have no experience but I always appreciate when it's there.

lucas-taniolo 2023-05-03 04:56

Good job, impressive compo! Showing a short trajectory preview would add a lot and sometimes I wished I could adjust the angle just a litle bit, maybe adding a small acceleration to the angle input would have helped. It was really fun and challenging, specially one of the middle levels that had a 0/4 and a 0/1 to deliver, this was the hardest for me.

chuckiee 2023-05-03 07:30

@sdelay Thanks so much! Glad you liked it hehe!

chuckiee 2023-05-03 07:31

@ahsoo Thank you! I'm sure nobody is hurt, or at least they have insurances, so no worries

chuckiee 2023-05-03 07:32

@silkworm-sweatshop Thank you so much! I don't know how to make a music, but I value music and Sfx I believe they add a lot to the game. Anyone reading this comment should play your game  Thanks for the kind words!

chuckiee 2023-05-03 07:33

@lucas-taniolo Thanks you very much! Glad you liked it! I have a list of suggestions collected, so added trajectory and acceleration to it! Thanks for the ideas.

brandon-campbell 2023-05-03 14:57

This is very well put together game! I love the graphics and audio and the concept. I seems bug free. One suggestion: In real life, gravitational fields extend infinitely from planets, and the force they exert increases the closer you are to them. I think this game would have been more fun in gravity always effected the packages, not just in the narrow band around the planet. That would have made it so there are more options to solve a level. Like you could skim the planet with lots of power, or shoot a really wide arc with low power. Anyway, you get a high rating from me! Well done.

chuckiee 2023-05-03 15:11

@brandon-campbell Thanks so much! For the real life gravitational fields, I think it makes sense, but I feel like it might be hard for player to tell when the force is strong enough to pull the boxes. But I'll definitely be experimenting with it! Thanks for kind comments!

wahooney 2023-05-03 21:15

This was good. I like your graphical style, but I am deducting half a star from graphics for those scaled down moon graphics with the tiny pixels: I don't make the rules, I just enforce em. Otherwise this is one of the top games I've played. The music reminds me of the combat music from Ur-Quan Masters, which gains you a half star on audio. More levels and puzzle elements (and bespoke moon graphics) and you'll definitely have something for Steam/Epic.

jimbly 2023-05-04 00:16

That's pretty cool. I love the way the credits are integrated! I managed to get through to the end, had to rewind a few times, I'm really glad I could do that rather than having to start all the way over =).

dishwand 2023-05-04 05:05

i think you've really nailed the difficulty curve & progression of mechanics here! i was initially not super intrigued by the whole concept of having to deliver multiple packages, having a limited supply per retry, and having the retry button only pop up when you're running low. but it works really well in this context to keep the player faithfully engaging with the mechanics (and especially during the level when there is more than 1 destination). the graphics are nice and i like the polish of the box permanence. great job!

benjamin 2023-05-04 08:47

Simple but fun and efficient I could have played more level. There's a bug if you retry before reaching your max delivery : The number display a number different from your real package left.

darchankaen 2023-05-04 11:31

Neat game and interesting gravity-based puzzle! Art and music also nice.

In my opinion, better if player can restart ('rewind') level at any time.

zealous-coder 2023-05-04 12:44

I do like a good gravity puzzle game. I would have liked some more puzzles. There also seemed to be an invisible timer that would fail me randomly not sure what that was about.

chuckiee 2023-05-04 16:43

@wahooney fair point for the scaled down graphics  Never heard of Ur-Quan Masters before but after listening main ost, definitely resembles the vibe, I just found the "instrument" in beepbox and thought it sounded funny. Thanks for the comments, I'll try to polish this up and release on Steam!

chuckiee 2023-05-04 16:44

@jimbly Glad you liked it! Thanks for playing :v:

chuckiee 2023-05-04 16:45

@dishwand Thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the game! Glad that my difficulty curve matched yours too

chuckiee 2023-05-04 16:46

@benjamin Didn't have time to add more, sorry for that. Nice catch! Will add to the list!

chuckiee 2023-05-04 16:46

@darchankaen Thanks and good feedback. And sorry I cannot play your game since it's horror, I'm very easily spooked :frowning2:

sam-minh 2023-05-05 13:31

Nice little game. The physics and controls are nicely done. And the beat was a nice surprise too.

sam-gorman 2023-05-06 04:19

I like how immediately I was able to understand the mechanics. Everything felt snappy and responsive, and the level design was solid, but that intuitiveness really stuck out to me. I think the game could use another mechanic to add depth, might allow for more interesting levels. Nice work!

prismapunch 2023-05-06 04:31

Fun and intuitive game. I like the introduction of the moons, wish more was done with that concept. Also like the interactive title screen!

ludumdaredevil 2023-05-06 12:14

Pretty cool mechanic. However, I didn't like that you had to deliver multiple packages to the same building. I think delivering one would have been enough.

salyon 2023-05-07 23:23

Very fun and polished game, feels very complete. With some more work could be solid :D

jhax 2023-05-08 15:02

Really cool work and really nicely implemented like gravity bending paths! Quite tricky but really rewarding when you manage to get things delivered!

sempra 2023-05-11 17:09

Wow! I really liked the idea, the mechanics and the effort put into it! I had a great time tryharding!

The level of finish on the trajectories and the Quality Of Life are really appreciated!

Well done, it's a solid entry!

justinsix 2023-05-13 09:35

Simple and elegant design. Kind of reminds me in a good way of angry birds. Ties well into the theme 5/5 for me

ditam 2023-05-14 17:53

I absolutely love the design of this, bravo! Super crisp and consistent, and it feels very polished. I managed to beat all the levels - more levels with a level selector would be very much welcome for a post-jam version.

I think I ran into a tiny bug on the last level (the one with the moons), where randomly in the middle of my umpteenth try I got a "delivery failed" message. I've never seen that screen until that point! :D Even though I did fail many levels - I just used R to reset, as the helpful on-screen prompt suggested.

Either way, a very charming game with an impressive amount of polish. One of my favourites this jam!

sebastian-m 2023-05-14 18:01

That's a very enterteining mechanic. I feel like a polished version of this game would be a hit on the App Store. Also for the delivery theme is fantastic. I love the song and the pixel graphics as well. One of my favorite games so far.

sebastian-m 2023-05-14 18:02

I also made a game about a canon, so that's fun :D

adam-jewell 2023-05-14 23:48

I like the mechanics of shooting something off and predicting it's orbits to hit its final target. This was done well but the design felt a bit cramped. not sure If it was because I was using the web player, but I think it would be better over a larger area, and possibly more predictable trajectories. I found myself adjusting the angle by tiny amounts trying to get it just right through trial and error, which didn't feel fun.

I think more deterministic would be better, where planets give predictable outcomes if you come at them from a certain side, like divide them into quarters for a grid based system, or 6's for a hex system, 8's for an octogonal system. would still require precision but less so, and make it more puzzle like because of the determinism.

chuckiee 2023-05-15 22:01

@ditam Thank you for the review! I wouldn't have expected anything close to this comment when I first developed the idea. I'm very grateful to your comment! I am planning to add projectile prediction and level editor so hopefully its should solve all the issues you have! Also power levels on intervals sounds very nice!

chuckiee 2023-05-15 22:02

@sebastian-m same cannon, very different stories! I'm glad you liked it! I'll try to make it into a Steam game so lets see!

tygrak 2023-05-17 08:14

Yay I won! Fun game! It's like space mini golf :D. I loved it when I shot a delivery and it somehow ended up returning exactly back to me :D , or somehow through dumb chance and luck at the tower.

tan90 2023-05-18 14:31

What an interesting artistic style! I really like your music. Can you tell me how you made such music?

tan90 2023-05-18 14:32

Sorry, I just saw your message about music。I've been playing games and haven't noticed your words

chuckiee 2023-05-18 14:40

@tygrak Thanks, now that you say it, it is very similar to 2d golf! I could never deliver the same package to myself, but it might be a level in itself I think

chuckiee 2023-05-18 14:41

@tan90 Well thanks  I tried something simple so it's easy to make variations: here is a link for you https://www.beepbox.co/

tan90 2023-05-19 03:12

Thank you very much for providing my help!! This is really an interesting tool! Thank you very much. This makes me want to try this style of game again next time!

linus-lindberg 2023-05-19 10:01

Very fun game.I think i completed all the levels? (it wrapped around to the beginning) Music and art and gameplay all fit very well together. The difficulty curve is well balanced. Well done1
