This is really cool, the color theme and animations are charming. Mouse sensitivity is too high, though on gamepad the camera controls great. Air movement is a bit clunky, forward acceleration persists regardless of influence from other movement directions. Great job!

Nice game. I like simple game and this one is simple.

Pretty fun! Love the particle effects and the walk/idle animations.
I only have a couple nitpicks. The mouse sensitivity was pretty high and it was somewhat disorienting during platforming, especially when I needed to whip the camera around quickly while wall-jumping. I also think it'd be nice if there was a visual indicator for the chicken being out of jumps, though maybe that's part of the challenge.
Overall though it's pretty sweet :)
Input sensitivity was tricky, but it was so much fun to play! Great characters and audio kept me so pumped up! <3

Pretty fun! I liked how you had to combine the simple mechanics. Great visuals and character design!

Cool game, and interesting idea! I found it pretty hard on the web build (although I'm pretty bad at 3D games in general). I couldn't easily see where the pentagrams were - it would have been nice for them to have a bigger visual cue. Nice work putting this together in 2 days!
I like the concept and the switching back and forth between the two characters to tackle different platforming challenges. I did really struggle to play this however, the mouse sensitivity is far too high! The camera was spinning around wildly with even subtle movements and often this led to accidentally jumping into the void due to the characters following the camera view. I do like the character design and the music though. If you can refine the controls further and put some more interesting models in for the boxy platforms, this is probably worth continuing if you're considering a post-jam version.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! I tried to reduce the mouse sensitivity a few notches since it seems to make a lot of people struggle haha.
@rob6566 Pentagrams are on white cubes, but a more eye-catching effect would be more helpful yeah.
@historymaker118 Thanks ! I do want to continue working on it, it could be a simple arcade platformer with timed trials, it's simple enough to work on mobile too I think. Maybe it can even become something bigger one day, we'll see.
The mechanical split between the types of platforming you should use toad for and the types you should use hen for is really engaging. It's a tiny bit frustrating at the moment but if you go anywhere with it, I can totally imagine a portal-style line of initial levels / puzzles to help the player master the dynamic and gamefeel.

Nice basic game but with the character switching it becomes a lot more interesting. I basically agree with most of the others, it needs a bit of fine tuning. Not just the mouse sensitivity but also subtle hints of when to switch and maybe more hints on where to go in the game. The hen collision box felt off even though it probably isn't.

This game is hilarious! love the adaption of the theme, and find the chicken flapping its wings adorable. Nice!

Played it on android, it's amazing! Loved figuring out how to use the characters together to my advantage!
Didn't play through all the paths, but I liked figuring out which character to use for each part of the level. It was especially cool switching mid-air. I didn't like the invisible walls though (I enjoy looking for unintended ways to reach places).

Nice game, love how the jumping feels with the frog and the detail that it turns when you are climbing a wall, also flying feels really nice job :)
Also I appreciate how original the game is it reminds me a bit to Spyro which was a game that I used to love :)

Thanks everyone for the comments, I read and consider every one of them! I also play all your games :)
@cogcomp Agreed, lots of mechanics need to be polished (mid-air momentum is clunky too) and if this becomes a full day one day it'll need beginner sections that subtly teach which animal does what.
@xry Thanks for trying the android build! I was surprised how well the touch controls turned out  3D plateformers on mobile could totally be a thing
@sudocoffee I'm not a fan of using invisible walls either but the game would have been too easy/boring without them, I ran out of time to separate the paths in more interesting ways. Unintended skips are still possible though, just limited

image.png I couldn't play it on the web, I don't know why but the page exploded so I had to download it and then I was able to play it. Very cool the mechanics of switching between animals, I had a lot of fun playing it. Great job guys!

@naplz98 The web build works but is very slow to load, the page sometimes "crashes" but it "uncrashes" after a while if you click Wait. Thanks for taking the time to download and play the desktop version!

neat little game! I'm glad to see an entry with gamepad support, I always try adding it and inevitably scrap it once I start cutting features at the end lol
mid-air switching felt pretty fun, the camera sensitivity on my xbox controller did feel fairly high but it wasn't unplayable
this game was AWESOME! I loved the absurdity of the hen and toad duo  Some of the challenges were hard but I managed to get them all. Keep on making games
It took me some frustration at the beginning to learn when to swap and all the rules for when the other form could still jump, but in the end this was a surprisingly good platforming experience! I like the variety of puzzles you made with the ability to swap everywhere. It felt really good when a solution clicked. Controls felt great on my PS5 Duelshock, very intuitive feel and great responsiveness!
I'm not sure I solved a couple of them "correctly". There was one I cheesed using a clipping bug with the frog when climbing in a corner between two objects(the frog will glitch infinite climb, probably not intended).
I tried for about 10 minutes trying to solve that one normally, but I couldn't see a solution. Since the frog leaving the wall consumes the bird's first jump, and it would take two frog climbs at least to reach the top.
There was an earlier one where two flaps got up the glass. I'm sure given the other path solutions, I was just missing another way to use/abuse them.
I still loved playing this despite that problem. I can see this being expanded, with more levels to teach the tricks, and more visuals to que the player into which technique to use. The flow between the "slow frog wall climbing" and "fast bird glide/air jump" is incredibly addicting. Amazing game! :smiley_cat:

@gawain-doell Glad you had fun playing! I'm not sure I visualize which one you had to cheese, the trickiest challenge in my opinion is where you have to jump around a wall, then flap to turn around, and then switch to toad and wall jump between the wall and a pentagram block, so maybe it was that one? In any case cheesing is also a valid option IMO
Thanks for reporting the corner bug btw, I might continue working on this project so I'll keep that in mind!

Played once with mouse and keyboard and couldn't finish it, but then switched to controller and it was no problem and a lot more fun. Mouse sensitivity was a bit too high. You may want to put in a little settings screen where the player can adjust it.

Got to the end! For a compo game this ticks every box. It was fun, had charming graphics, boppin tunes, and good sound effects. Definitely in my top 5 compo games this jam!
Couldn't manage to make it work on the web, I'll check it on my other computer during the week!

@deformhead Thanks for trying! Only tip I can give is to be very patient with the web build, it can take a few minutes to load and (temporarily!) freeze the browser while it loads. I couldn't find a way to make it better with Godot4 yet.

Well polished and satisfying to play! I love the sound effects!
This was quite a fun 3d platformer! I loved how you separated two simple mechanics of air jumping and wall jumping, to create a third mechanic. And how all three had to be used together to solve the different areas. I found the different sections puzzles to be pretty engaging.
Great job!
(no issues with the web version for me)

Love the sound effects for changing back and forth between the frog/chicken. I sucked at the game, but still had a good time. Cheers!

Web version worked well for me, big fan of the sound design and the dynamic music ! I had a bit of trouble with the controls at first, I think it was from how the air control worked, especially with the frog, not sure though. I think I did the long void jump pentagram wrong, but hey it worked ! Cool touch on the ending sequence :) !
Silly idea! Nice graphics and silly sounds too. Wish there were more gameplay, but I like your choice to do a sandbox over a half-baked level. Sweet!
I liked it a lot  the sound effects were funny too
Love the concept, and the actual platforming design feels great, when I manage to do it. I couldn't finish it unfortunately, mostly sue to the absurd camera sensitivity with mouse. Might come back and try with controller. Art is fantastic and I really like the mood and feel of the game.
A really solid entry and proof of concept! It feels mostly great to control, which is obviously a vital aspect of any platformer (using a pad made all the difference). You've done a lot with relatively little, so an exemplary compo submission.

what an impressive entry, and to create a 3d platformer in 48 hours? well done!
the switching mechanic (especially once i realized you could do it in air) is perfectly simple for a compo game but there's a surprising amount of depth. really impressed with how fun it is to control the hen and the toad together.
the air control was the one mechanic i found super frustrating. congrats on the game!

Geez, I finally fixed mouse sensitivity, turns out it I'd made it framerate-dependant, which explains why people were still having issues with it despite lowering it multiple times. Thanks @linus-lindberg @phlip45 @cogcomp @historymaker118 @jnw @s95rob for pointing it out!
